Poem a Day: Stop Shipping, Nearsea!

πŸ˜€

My longtime friend, nearsea, wrote this:

@packmule3 You know, after watching episode 1, I thought it was decided that I’m team min ho, I don’t know why, it must be because of the actor, :D. But everyone seems to be raving about Yeliner, and I guess I am on the second lead ship this time. But, since there seem to be many interesting things happening in the drama, aside from the love line, I have decided to continue, for now at least. πŸ˜†
Though I gather it will be quite hard, LOL, but not like this is the first time πŸ˜€ .
Now pardon the superficial me. Going back to read your insights.
# Ah one of the reasons I’m still having it hard to root for lee joon hyuk is probably that the guy played the role of the corrupted prosecutor so well on secret forest. That image is still so much vivid in my mind that I can’t somehow dive into his calm and thoughtful attire in this drama lol.

You and I know how bad shipping wars can get so don’t do it over there. Do it here instead because I’ll tolerate your spazzing and I won’t ban you like the mods.

This must be one of your favorite scenes from Episode 4.

I liked it too.Β  I didn’t see it coming. I thought to myself… okay, so he’s now lending his jacket when earlier he left her to chase the chickens by herself. What’s wrong with this kid?Β

Then I saw her pull out the can of beer and squid snack from the pockets and I thought again…smooth, MinHo. Just smooth. So that’s why he didn’t follow her right away when she left the table. He went to buy these for her.Β

Sigh. Had he been nicer to her back then in college when she was still quoting poetry to him, then it didn’t have to be this way for them. They wouldn’t have to sit with that space in between them. She could have leaned her head on his shoulder and he could have put an arm around her in comfort.

But you can say, better late than never.Β

This is however one of my favorite scenes from the same Episode.

I liked this scene because she made him smile. She reminded me of Tinkerbell here helping Peter Pan look for his lost shadow in the Darling children’s bedroom.Β  She was skipping right behind him but the lengthening of her shadow made them appear to be walking beside each other instead.

Also, their evening walk contrasted neatly with her companionable walk with Minho earlier in the evening.

This one tells me that he came upon her that night and went out of his way to ease her worry about being seen in a bad light. (Get it? They’re walking in a well-lit path. hahaha.)

This one tells me there’s no looking back for them. From here on out, they walk no longer as enemies, but as friends.

Which one is better?

It depends on a lot of variables so let’s wait and see.

I’m glad however that this is my first time encountering both actors so I’ve no expectations from either one. All I can say is if I were young again, I’d detest having a boyfriend like MinHo. I’d probably break up with him 24 times in a day – and reconcile 25 times. So exhausting but… Β πŸ˜‰ Β he’d probably be worth it. Better be late than never.

With Doctor Ye, I’d have one big breakup, and that would be end of THAT. Cold πŸ¦ƒΒ turkey; no second chances.

  1. LOLL.Why am I only seeing this now? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I will read the post first and then comment, but if you ask me why I tend to fall for the ones who always tend to have slim chances to win? Just cause I like the underdogs, that’s why. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

  2. Okay that didn’t take long.
“I’m glad however that this is my first time encountering both actors so I’ve no expectations from either one.”

I wish I could be you. But you’re right. And I have stopped shipping. πŸ˜šπŸ˜‚ Shipping takes toll on your heart and then you realize you have no feeling left for the people involved. And then I realized the other day I didn’t want this gf of mine to pine for this guy she likes, since for me he was kind of in the second lead category for her.πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚ Kdrama has ruined me. :/
About the show, should I say though I’m surprised how funny this show is? Apart from my neutral attitude towards the main loveline, I absolutely adore everything about this show now. So there you go. I really am enjoying these comparisons between the two suitors though, πŸ˜‚ so keep it going. I’ll stay tuned every Wednesday. 😁

  3. No, I think you’ll win this one, too. Like the Taectanic.

I’m on the YeLine but I’m conceding that MinHo is the guy she likes – as of Episode 6. She doesn’t see straight when she’s with him. πŸ™„ With Dr. Ye, she can think of him in poetry. A Poem a Day. But with MinHo, I think she’ll go past the poetry with him. I’m guessing that this will eventually be the point of this kdrama. That a reading poem a day is good but there are some things, profound things, that go beyond words, or words can’t express fully. Like, she reads other people’s poems constantly but she hasn’t written one of her own. Why is that? πŸ˜‚

  4. Have you seen Ep 6?

Watch Episode 6, you’ll die laughing. Her kimbab! That was so ludicrous.

And MinHo’s word to describe it was “jackpot!” 🀣

  5. Lol.

That’s funny! Telling your GF not to date a guy because he’s like a second lead character.

I guess it’s better than telling her that the guy looks like a “loser.”

  6. second lead characters can look pretty good though. :))
I like how funny this show is too. Everything is funny and yet serious too, I looove that.

  7. Yes second lead characters are good (I still can’t get over that Goong prince) but strictly speaking, they’re losers because they lose to the main lead. πŸ˜‰

    Did you see the kimbab??!!

  8. the first things i saw on main poster was i like the youngers guy. maybe because i saw him on other drama with chae soo bin. if u support this guy, i will try to watch this one. ???????? let me know.
just try to watch first ep now. he was the female lead first love.

  9. Yes, I think the younger guy is written to be her match.
I don’t know anything about both actors so I thought the older guy has more potential bec lol he’s more mature.

But the younger guy has a charisma of his own which the older guy lacks. The older guy is good-looking but dour.
    And arrogant.

I’m afraid his fangirls don’t realize that if this were a true story, his character wouldn’t have anything to do with simpering, airhead fans. Cruel but true.

Of course, the writer can make this story all about “enlivening” the older guy. Lol.

  10. I know what you mean by how with Dr. Ye it doesn’t go beyond poetry. But in case of Min Ho, Bo young is really herself. She isn’t scared to show her true self to him, no matter how much crazy or scary that is haha.
I guess we have seen soo many kdramas that we know how the story can go both ways, a male lead who’s caring [like taek?] or a male lead who’s always teasing the girl but then at the same time knows her inside out. But even if Dr. Ye is so considering and kind towards Bo young, I still don’t find their pair interesting enough. He’s too bland for my taste lol.

I love what you said about favoring the underdog lol. πŸ˜€ The almost worshipping of Dr. Ye is getting on my nerves and I don’t really think I could go gaga over a guy, I don’t like that face bo young makes whenever she is staring at Dr. Ye lol.

  11. You mean she looks entranced?

Yeah. That kind of look is the WRONG indicator for the real OTP. Same thing with that airy, breathless voice Boyoung uses when she talks with Dr Ye.

The assumption in romantic dramas and books is the girl in love will show the guy WHO SHE TRULY IS in order for the guy to say that he loves her for her REAL SELF. But it’s already the 8th episode and HE still thinks of her as a little girl with cotton candy?? What the heck?

We were already shown MinHo’s reaction when HE realized that she was a pretty girl. And we were also shown that he thinks of her as a girl he could “hook up” with in a party scene. 😈 But Dr Ye’s still in that infantilized stage. Kinda creepy… that cotton candy scene with kid.

And nope! I don’t think he was envisioning “future daughters” with BY. He saw that cute kid and he smiled because he remembered how BY looked cute too eating cotton candy.

Lol! Kdramas!! If I were Boyoung, I’d want him to see a bunny and think of me in a Playboy Bunny suit. And what’s up with this infantilization of women in kdramas? I’m a grownass of a woman. I wouldn’t mind if you think of my beautiful ASS once in a while. 😈
