100 Days My Prince: 69,329 Hours

Okay, this bugged me for about 24 hours.

69,329 hours = roughly about 2,889 days = 7 years and 334 days or almost 8 years. But it’s been 16 years since his father ascended throne.

So what happened 8 years ago that made him stop smiling? His marriage to the CPrincess? lol. He’s been celibate for 8 years?!

  1. I like how you look up these stuff. I never bother to give them a second thought, but it’s loads of fun to read about.
I’ve seen 3 episodes so far, kept putting it on a todo list since I’ve been getting mails about you posting about it and didn’t want to start reading the posts before seeing the episodes.
It could be the marriage, he’s definitely been married for years. If the girl is 28 he must be of pretty much the same age.
But does that mean he’s been smiling before? After his mum died & he saw his father becoming king because he had the family of the girl killed, could he had smiled?
Maybe the time refers not to an event that caused him to stop smiling (it’s not that he’s stopped smiling only 8 years ago) but to hours spent in “this” palace. Maybe he was just living in a different part of the court before?
Or maybe they did want to hint at un unhappy long marriage.

  2. I know that YOU KNOW that most of us bitches who hang around here as just as obsessive-compulsive as I am. We like details details details.

That’s why we get along fine.

And if it’s any consolation to you, your comments woke me up this morning at 4am. I forgot to silence my phones before going to bed and the notification alert on this blog pinged! several times.

    But I’m glad you’re here.

  3. I am sorry, well, not really, I’m actually laughing because I find it kinda cute to wake you up. Even if it’s no fun for you.
I posted more than one comment so it was more than one alert, yep :)))
I’ll be a bit more considerate in the future when it’s night US time. I’m GMT+3

  4. It’s okay. I’ll consider it as friendly “return fire” because you HAVE been getting my email notification, too.

But what do you think of the romance in Episode 6? I want to hear your thoughts too.

I’m about to leave for a luncheon to discuss my next work assignment. As exciting as it was to be in Asia for two months, I don’t want to be out of the country again for that length of a time, especially with the holidays coming up.

  5. About the romance in episode 6.. I don’t know but overall I like how forward she is. I like that she’s no shy damsel overreacting at whatever tiny skinship. He is a bit of that while we’re at it, but hey.. people probably couldn’t touch him as CP so it’s almost understandable.
I LOVED that they read trashy novels together.
I loved that even if she is the girl he’s been fond of there’s no crap of oh.. I’m attracted to you because mysteriously I somehow know we’re connected even if I lost my memories. I like that it looks like it’s not as much her face he cherished (even if in the past as a kid he was mesmerized by her looks) as the memory they share. It’s not her face that awakes a reaction in him (even if before losing his memory he was obviously capable of recognizing her) but the scene under the cherry blossom tree in which she has that transference episode, as you called it, and she talks with sincerity about an episode they actually shared. It’s after that that I think he stops being a selfish brat not wanting to do hard work to pay the huge debt he made, and starts wanting to make an honest effort. And seek approval from her. And be jealous.

  6. Good point about not falling in love with her “face”.

I found it funny when he told her that her face wasn’t the type of face he’d fall in love with — because yes! He’s absolutely right! I too didn’t think the actress’ face was pretty enough for him to fall in love with. I totally forgot that when he was young, he was attracted to her face. har har har.

Btw, in case you aren’t watching The Ghost Detective, the child actress playing the mean ghost here is the same child actress playing YeSeo. Interesting, right? Her parents must be proud of her. She’s on TV almost everyday. Monday and Tuesday: 100 Day My Prince, Wednesday and Thursday: The Ghost Detective, and Friday and Saturday?? I heard that she was on Mr. Sunshine.

No comment about reading trashy novels together. I don’t want to incriminate myself and my husband….

I was going to comment about this, too. I really like the way that she was actively helping him find out the things he was good at.

You pointed out that he stopped being a selfish brat after that “transference/cherry blossom tree” moment. Well, I think SHE stopped being a nag when he collapsed after begging her to help him. He referred to her cherry blossom tree moment, too. “You said that I loved you. And you said you waited for me…(she dismissed it)… I’m so miserable. I’ve no idea who I am. Help me remember how I loved you. (he fainted).”

lol. How much more is this writer going to fixate on the cherry blossom tree as a symbol of their love? We get it already. I can already imagine this: When Lee Yul and Hong Shim marry they’re going to plant thousand of cherry blossom trees around their palace. And when they have twins, one will be named “Cherry” and the other “Blossom.” lol.
