100 Days My Prince: Crown Princes

Oh noooooo!!! I’m getting confused. Which Crown Prince do I like better now?

Siwan?

Korean Dramas wallpaper entitled The King Loves

or this guy? When I’ve time, I must read up more about this actor.  Is he Kyungsoo or Dodo?

lol. It’s cute that both men are short come in fun size instead of a cumbersome king-size package. To me, having almost the same height projects the image of equal partnership better than a Giant-and-Thumbelina matching.

Anyway, I think I’m beginning to prefer the latter by 0.00093985 because of scenes like this.

These couple moments make up for the protracted palace scenes and JeYoon the Moon-face scenes (they sure are milking this prosopagnosia of his). I wish they have more in store for us in the last episodes. I’m enjoying WonDeuk’s deadpan delivery of his jokes. He says something to amuse HongShim, with an expressionless face and bland voice so she couldn’t gauge his feelings. It’ll take familiarity and “oneness” in mind and in spirit for her to read his thoughts without his facial cues to rely on.

And —

I said it before and I’ll say it again (although it’ll offend some snowflakes). It was a godsend that he lost his memories. Because of his amnesia, he was able to blot out his resentment and do over his disposition with her at his moral compass.

She’s a reset button. We’ve already seen her straighten him out when they were young. He was turning into the neighborhood goon if it wasn’t for her coming around and knocking some sense into him. She made him take his studies seriously. Now, she’s doing it again. She’s turning him into a wiser ruler. I’m definitely looking forward to the third time when they take their rightful place in the palace.

As for this CPrincess, her middle name must be treasonous. I understand it’s a fight for survival but she’s digging her own grave here. What a shameless thing to say, “Having Crown Prince’s son take the throne is my undying wish as his widow.” As she had warned her useless brother earlier, words have enormous power. Her expressed wish could well turn into her death warrant.

Okay, will continue watching this show and post as I go along. Thanks @qtkssrngh for that link.

  1. His name is Do KyungSoo. Aka D.O. (Yes I had to google it – pronounced Dee-Oh – I had to google that one too because EXO fans just type DO and I ask myself, is it “Doo” or is it “Doh” (ala Homer Simpson 😆). I had reservations about him when I found out he was a kPop idol (and a massive one at that…). Most idol turn actors just don’t hit the right notes for me (intended pun) in drama land. I have since gone back to watch his movies and he definitely has that x-factor. And when I go to watch his EXO interviews (yes I profile all my actors to see if they are worthy of my following), I can see why. He’s not precious. He’s very grounded. He sticks out (without even trying) from that idol persona. He doesn’t goof around like his EXO mates or make inane comments. Don’t get me wrong, he has some pipes on him (lovely rich mellow – he is one of the main vocalists) and dance moves but he has that quality of having an old soul in a boy’s body/face. And he brings that with him when he traverses into DramaLand. He is just as focused, just as level. He is a thinking man. Yes I am a fan. I will be watching his movie Swing Kids when it comes out.

  2. I honestly haven’t listened to an EXO or a BST song before but I must have heard their songs playing whenever I visit Seoul or eat at the local Korean restaurants.

I’m too old for kpop but I do like the catchy songs, esp the ones by Big Bang. I know of some of the groups, namely Shinee, Beast/Highlight (but the only guy I’ll be able to recognize is their leader), 2PM (because of Ok Taekyeon and the guys’ stints at We Got Married), and Siwan’s group’s ZE:A (again, I’ll only recognize Siwan, Hyungsik — the guy from “Strong Woman Do Boon Son” and Kwanghee).

Unfortunately, my opinion of EXO has been tainted by its fandom. I read that their fans can be rather extreme when it comes to their idols’ dating life. I recall something silly concerning “oreos.” IIRC, the fangirls smashed oreos because one of their “oppas” began dating some girl from a famous girl group. I happen to like snacking on oreos so I thought that was such a waste. Then, there was another “oppa” who dated Tiffany (or Tessie? Mallory?) from another girl group, and the fangirls also caused a ruckus. And there’s another oppa who was dating (or not dating, it was unconfirmed) Hyeri’s groupmate from Girl’s Day. I think these poor boys should be allowed to date.

Kyungsoo… I thought he was a real actor when I first saw him. He didn’t look “pretty” like many of the kpop singers. But then, it’s also because, in the movie I saw him in, he played a blind ex-taekwondo fighter. His role called for nitty-gritty acting. I enjoyed his performance. However, since it was one of those in-flight movies, once I got off the plane, I also forgot about him and the movie. I was on a business trip, so it was easy to turn off a switch like that.

After watching him these past few weeks, I can see his appeal. Although he is smaller and less muscular than the usual idols, he doesn’t look dainty or wimpy. Hmmm… he seems to be doing his own stunts in those fighting scenes so he can be a physical actor.

(Although I did laugh during that fight scene in the forest, when he was rescuing HongShim. I think he kicked one of the assailants and landed hard on the ground on his knee. He was huffing and puffing. I thought THAT was an exaggeration. It looked like an idol move from one of their kpop dances. lol.)

He seems to be a perfectionist, somebody who comes prepared for his role. That’s what I didn’t like about Park Hyung-Sik’s acting in “Strong Woman Do Boong whatever.” (He’s a member of ZE:A.) The script was essentially a fan-service. I didn’t consider his performance acting when he was essentially just playing himself. lol. He was very SELF-conscious and SELF-aware.

  3. “Giant-and-Thumbelina” i’m cryiiiing 😂😂😂 me and my mutuals in twitter have discussed how we love the height difference between kyungsoo and jihyun, it’s also the perfect height for kissing haha i’m tired of the usual kdrama tall male lead and small female lead

  4. My sons are 6’3 ~ 6’4. One of them is dating a Korean-American who’s really petite. (My son can easily do squats with her sitting on his shoulders. lol). She said that she almost always wore heels whenever she was out with my son, so she wouldn’t look like a midget beside him. I told her “Thumbelina” was a better way of phrasing it than midget.

Yes, when WonDeuk and HongShim kiss, it doesn’t look awkward. I’ve seen Devilish Joy, and the actor there looks like he’s about to break his back to kiss the girl. Really, if he didn’t bend down to meet her lips, she could have easily ended up kissing his belly-button. hahaha.
