Fluttering Alert: Episode 12 Random Notes

1. Wannabe Wife has a choding body. Choding = elementary school kid

This is the wrong gown for her body type. It doesn’t matter how many alternations the poor seamstress has to make, she has neither butt nor boobs to carry this off.

2. Product placement for Shake Shack burgers. lol.

There’s one near my office and when I want to live dangerously, I go for their shackburger (650 calories), crinkly fries (500 calories) and strawberry shake (650 calories).

3. Yes, she’s still wearing their couple ring.

which augurs well for us who want to see better days ahead of our couple. We also see this in the preview for next week’s episodes.

4. Is WH next move infiltrating his dad’s company?

He asked his friend, “Then,  is the only method to create problems from the inside?” He was wondering whether the only avenue for them to seek justice or to stop Cheogo Group/Kangan Group from hurting WH’s people is to create a scandal from within the company.

His friend replied, “That won’t be easy because it’s virtually impossible to mess with the internal system of the best business in the industry. Though if someone were in Chairman Cha’s shadow, it may be possible….no that’s dangerous for you.”

lol. I wanted WH to accept his dad’s offer to run the foundation and to mend fences with his dad. But I didn’t foresee that he would use this opportunity to betray his dad and get back at him.

What’s wrong with this lawyer??

5. They have the other person’s keychain

Yes, we get the symbolism of the keychain already. Unknowingly, they both have each other’s keychain because it represents also their *accidental* connection to the YH’s dad and with the fire that killed YH’s mom.

She agonizes over renewing relationship with her father while

He brooded over his move to reveal to the whole world about his father’s murder plot to kill him (which may not even be attempted murder at all).

But this drama logic stumped me. Didn’t he never question where the firefighter’s daughter went and what happened to her? I would be triggered (hahaha) if he knew all along that YooJung was the firefighter’s daughter.

Just a little note here because this isn’t a legal blog. 🙂  Here in the US, there’s no general duty or legal requirement to rescue a person in danger. There are three general exceptions: 1) when you caused the danger by your own negligence (i.e., you started the fire), 2) when you already began rescuing (i.e., you can’t suddenly abandoned a person you were rescuing) and 3) when there’s a special relationship that requires you to rescue (i.e., custodial relationships like parent-and-child, teacher-and-student, and Titanic-captain-and-passengers).

6. Traitorous Secretary

I can’t believe he sided with Wannabe Wife.

Really? He’s more scared of Wannabe Wife than his own Chairman Cha??

WW: The chairman is deciding between Cha WooHyun and Cha Sehyun for the succession of Choego Group. I heard that your opinion isn’t that of the chairman’s, and that you’re pushing for CSH, isn’t that right?
Sec: I’m not sure what you’re saying.
WW: Department Head, I hope that you keep my words in mind. You thought that I wouldn’t be able to marry WH, didn’t you? WH is my person now. Choose your side well.

(lol. She bluffs and this stupid Secretary folds.)

Sec: What?
WW: Chief Director Lee and Chairman Cha can’t beat my father, the chairman of Kanghan Group or me. I’ve risked my life on this. Join my side. Withdraw your investment in YJ Entertainment immediately.
Sec: What?

Join the dark side.  Darth Vader = the butt-less, boob-less Wannabe Wife. Oooooh, I’m scared.

7. Do I really care about this guy now? I’m beginning to think he’s just a plot device. lol.

Follow-up question: Who is this CEO Jang, that new investor who called up Unnie and arranged to meet with her at the Jaeseong Building? The stabber knew to lie in wait for Unnie at the garage parking lot for her.

8. Her two failed attempts to text him:

Text 1: JaeKyeong got hurt really badly just like you did last time, but I’m okay.

Text 2: JaeKyeong got hurt really badly just like you did last time. I’m really scared and worried.

Two things: Her second text was, of course, the truthful one. And I wish she sent it but I understand why she didn’t. She connected Unnie’s stabbing with WH’s and she would have felt guilty knowing that both were hurt because of their association with her. Also, she didn’t want to need him when their future together was unresolved and unsettled.

9. @Oli’s explanation

I like @Oli’s explanation of this scene so I’ll copy it here:

“You should be with someone that you can protect until the end. No matter what.”
I thought the father is talking about his guilt in not protecting his wife. That’s the trauma of his life so that’s his advice.

In episode 12 when WH came to the hospital and YJ saw him I could see a connection between the guilt his father felt toward her for not saving her mother and the guilt WH felt towards her for not only causing her financial or career related losses but also, possibly, the life of people she loved. That didn’t happen but it came close and I’m sure both realized it. Obviously YJ, when she agreed to losing “everything”, didn’t think of that.

Anyway “causing her” is a bad phrasing because it’s not really his fault (as it wasn’t really her father’s fault that his wife died) but they both feel guilty either way. I felt it was that guilt that kept them both away.

10. The look on her face when she saw him

She looked like she was about to cry and to run to him. But I could understand why she didn’t.  Her Unnie kept on begging her to forget WH and re-focus on her job but since she refused, her Unnie’s life was endangered.

We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

But really the writer has beaten this “wind metaphor” to death! How many more times do we have to hear WH’s promise to walk in front of her when the wind blows?

But I get it; I get it. There’s a PROCESS here. The first time around, he was telling her that he would walk in front of her. The second time around, in the next episodes, he was allowing her to walk behind him, too.

But hmph! I still insist that they should be walking together, side by side, in the storm. Although this whole walking in front/behind sounds protective, I want them to support and complement each other. It’s better when both are equally responsible for the other’s welfare and happiness.

9 Comments On “Fluttering Alert: Episode 12 Random Notes”

  1. 1 – Such a difference in comments for WW and YJ. YJ got told she looked PRETTY while WW got told IT SUITS YOU! And the winner is!

2- I wonder what’s in that article that Reporter Jo and Unnie were working on.

3 – I think she wore the ring while she was in her bedroom thinking of WH. I am glad that she wore it because it meant she didn’t believe WW when she said WH chose her wedding gown for her.

4- WH is very bitter. Where is our good person? YJ’s Dad couldn’t advise him on this because his daughter is the same. Unforgiving! His lawyer caved in too from what WW said huh?

5 – WH would feel guilty too once he finds out that YJ is the fireman’s daughter. I hope we won’t go around in circles again once this happens. He could have asked YJ’s Dad that he saw this daughter back then but then maybe he didn’t want to bring it up.

6 – I won’t be surprised if the Chairman knows that he’s a traitor already. I remember him asking the Secretary what’s he been up to because he should have been aware of something. I forgot what it is.

7 – I thought he might be the stepbrother because of the eyes and sideburns. I’m guessing this is organised by the stepmom herself. Unnie and WH thought it was still WW’s doing but she said it’s not her. I didn’t think she was lying at that time.

8 – She really didn’t have anyone by her side. I mean she went to her Dad but she still didn’t go down to talk to him 🙁 She was alone and she felt it really bad.

9 – It’s hard that you see them both feeling down and sad but they can’t be together to console each other or just be there for each other.

10 – The look of longing and missing the person that she likes per her phone.

11 – I couldn’t agree more! They can just walk side by side and not cowering from that dark/evil person!

    I can’t wait for episode 13!!!

  2. This post was very disruptive to my colleagues in my shared work space today. I barked with laughter at the Modern Family GIF paired with WW’s lumpy seams. Happily, my team is used to my guffaws. I was glad to see I wasn’t the only one who thought there was something a little … misaligned about Kang’s … erm … presentation.

Department Head Gam siding with WW is a head scratcher and just darn unlikely. It would’ve been more believable if she’d manipulated him with evidence of his embezzling or something dangerous like that. It seems like she’s got something on WH’s lawyer too.

I can’t remember—at any point, did Yoo-Jung tell Woo-Hyun that her dad was a firefighter?

My favorite conversation of Ep. 12 was Reporter Joo assuring Yoo-Jung (38:13) about the company and that they’d investigate WW. Most importantly, she knows Woo-Hyun isn’t WW’s man. WW is putting on a show and “Director Cha isn’t someone who changes easily.”

“You can’t let yourselves drift apart because of pointless rumors and Kang Hye-Joo’s schemes.” (40:05) Preach!

It’s interesting how, as close Papa Yoon and Woo-Hyun are, the fireman never shared the names of his children. I get that Koreans are formal when it comes to using given names but they’ve been acquainted for 20 years, right?

Like the rest of y’all, I rooting for uri OTP to face life walking side-by-side. Heck, I want all of them working together. I suspect Reporter Joo is going to particularly helpful to uri Milk Couple. Let’s get on with it!

  3. hahaha. You didn’t think I would let that bra padding of Wannabe go without a catty remark, right? That would be un-bitchy of me if I ignored it.

Yes, that Dept. Head’s defection isn’t credible at all. I’m still reserving judgment on the atty. He looks shifty but I feel sorry that all of WH’s friends yielded easily to coercion. First, his hyung at the hospital, then the hyung who misdiagnosed his mom, then now this! The only one who stuck with him is his StepHyung.

I don’t think YJ told him that her dad was a firefighter but HE told her that he befriended that firefighter who saved him. She overheard him calling the firefighter “aboji.”

Oh yes, Reporter Joo should be the fairy godmother here. After all, she “began” the trouble with her dating gossip/scoop. Four more episodes!

  5. hey!!!! How did you do that?? I don’t know how to do that… and this is my blog. pwahahaha. Just shows you how hopeless I am with all the techie stuff.

  6. One more random observation. My favorite WTF moment comes courtesy of WW’s jewelry (Ep. 12, 21:37).

She swans into WH’s clinic wearing brooch that looks like double-barreled nipple rings, accidentally worn on the outside. It’s absolutely the worst, in the best way.

  9. Great comment on WW’s brooch @tsutsuloo ! I was staring at it the whole time thinking is that supposed to be there? 😂
