Fluttering Alert: On YJ’s Many-Splendored Thing

This is a comment by @Anna Tan.  I’m posting it here so people can comment on YH’s many different qualities.

I agree that YJ has many facets to her and it’s interesting to watch how the actress Yoon EunHye portrays her. I often sense that the writer uses YEH as “source material” or inspiration for the the character herself.

**********************************

I was wondering if you would recap this scene! I am so delighted that you did.
I enjoyed the dialogue as I found it really entertaining.. As the two of them were cautiously trying not to get caught by the other party.. YJ to me is behaving differently from her usual self…she is usually able to call out the true intentions of the other person… But here she did not.

I find YJ an interesting character and hope her character can continue to grow in depth…
At times, she is that romantic who seems like this dainty princess waiting for her knight in Shiny Armour. In the episode when she bumped into WH in the hotel before her press conference, she is secretly asking herself what she should do if he says he wants to be her fake boyfriend. In this episode, she is imagining a confession from him and is wondering what she should do.

At times, she is this sensible mature lady who says the wisest thing to WH. At the breakfast table the morning after the hangover, when he was trying out clothes she prepared for him, when she is in the hospital..

At times, she is this fun-loving friend or sister.. Even she played around with SH or hugging her brother.

At times, she is the brooding lady with emotional scars… The way she shares about her scar or when she visits her mum at the cemetery.

At times, she is the responsible actress who will ensure her image is maintained as many people’s lives depend on her. Did you notice that she will make sure she looks goodbefore she face the public or someone she does not know…

  1. Well-said, @anna_tan. Yoo-Jung’s a woman after my own heart. She’s a complex woman in a not-so-simple story.

I’d add that she’s also capable of carrying a grudge. Considering that she seems to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, I’m dying to find out what exactly estranged her from her father ten years ago. Mom died 23 years prior; what new information did she gain 10 years ago to break them apart? She even threatened to move her mother from her cemetery plot if her dad visited again! Even though Yoo-Joon holds his sister in the highest regard, it’s good to see he’s capable of having his own opinion and seems more understanding of their father’s “bad timing” (Ep. 6).

  2. I really liked the way you describe YJ, @anna_tan 🙂

I hope YJ and WH will remain true to what they’ve said to each other about their kiss. I don’t want to waste time going in circles after that truth/consequence scene.

So true @tsutsuloo about YJ holding a grudge. Though as her brother said, she picked up Dad’s guitar when he threw it.

Someone at Soompi has the actual book base on the series and she said it was 600 pages but it is in Indonesian.

  3. Errr what? 600 pages? In Indonesian?? Good luck with that. 😂 I think in this instance the show will be better than the book bec of the portrayal of the actors.

  4. Yes it’s in Indonesian. I didn’t want to ask about anything except if she can count how many kisses or if there is a ramyeon night. LOL!

Let’s hope they will bring justice to the book but like you said, our actors are doing great with their potrayal already 🙂

I’m sorry I keep mentioning kisses, it’s because I am still affected by the other show that ended and they had nice ones. I’ll get over it soon. 😉
