Love O2O: Ep 19 The Brand-New Shirt

Yes. We noticed that he wore the same outfit that he lent her.

The following day:

*************************

My two major takeaways from this scene:

1. Yes, he wants her out of her wet clothes so she doesn’t get sick, but I think he also likes seeing her in his shirt. There’s something sexy about a girlfriend wearing her boyfriend’s buttoned-up shirt. Since his shirt will be oversize on her, it’ll appear as if his shirt is swallowing her whole.

2. When he asked her, “Do you want the ones I’ve worn?” he made it sound like wearing his used clothing was some kind of fetish when he himself doesn’t mind wearing a shirt that SHE’s worn. Her scent on him brands him as hers, but I guess he doesn’t mind. He probably finds her scent sexy intoxicating.

  1. I missed that Xiao Nai was wearing the clothes he gave Weiwei on my first watch, but I did catch it the second time around. From the dialog, Xiao Nai is definitely aware of the intimate and sexual connotations of wearing the clothes, since he goes out of his way to tell Weiwei that the clothes he is giving her are brand new and he hasn’t worn them. I was thinking he might say something like “Don’t worry, they are clean” but not only are the clothes he selected for her clean, but also never worn.
There’s definitely something sensual and intimate about sharing clothing. It’s kind of like an “indirect kiss”.

  2. Number 1 for me! He doesn’t want her to get sick definitely but his kiss to her while he was drying her wet hair with a towel came first and foremost! Consistent of his concern for her always. I love it! 🙂

  3. Did you see how he plopped that towel on her head when he was going to dry her hair?

lol. It looked like he was dropping a burlap sack on her head to kidnap her! If I were Weiwei, I would have been surprised by the sudden action — from behind me, too.

But that’s okay… he made it up when he lifted the towel later to look at her face. Now THAT reminded me of the way a groom would gently unveil the bride during the wedding…

  4. I watched it again and it wasn’t that rough. It was just a big towel. LOL.

I love this towel scene, I prefer it than a bathroom or shower scene. I was in heaven. 😉

PS. You’d think he would have an extra pair of home slippers right? But no. He really is very independent. 🙂

  5. You know I only get the fuss about the extra slippers because I understand (more or less, hahaha) Asian culture. I know visitors are expected to remove shoes and change into slippers when they enter somebody’s house.

But here we don’t do that. I have a ton of slippers because I’m a shoe-a-holic. But my sons won’t have extra pair of slippers for guests in their condos. Like Nai.

And I’m sure their girlfriends stay over some nights. hahaha.

  6. In here we wear slippers at home but I don’t particularly have extra for guests. We don’t do that here too. My guests can come inside with their shoes on. Mind you, the boy’s took awhile to wearing them when they were growing up and sometimes until now I get annoyed when one of them is not wearing it around the house. LOL! Asian alright! 😀

  7. hahaha. An indirect kiss! I like that idea. I wear my husband’s old shirts because they’re really soft and comfy. And used to be, when I go on long trip overseas, I’d bring a couple of his shirts and use them as pillowcases. To me, they’re better than those 600 thread count linens in hotels.

The thing about this scene that gets me is that he made such a big deal saying that the clothes he was lending her were never worn but then after she wears them and leaves them behind, HE puts them on the following day and wears them to the work.

Does he really like her scent on him that much? Does he have a fetish? Or — gasp! — Is he kinky?? (Just kidding.)

  8. Hehehe! I noticed this only during my second watch. I agree with the points raised here but I missed out on the “never worn” comment but then we saw him wear it the next day. Ooohhh I am learning a lot from these highlihts. Thanks for sharing!
