He’s Psychometric: Ep 11 Flash Review

Just so we’re on the same page before Ep 12.

1.  The warped version of “The Little Prince”

This is the how the Stalker/Killer/dad perverted the story:

Jaein: Why the hell are you doing this?
Man: Do you know the story of the little prince? On a small star where he grew a rose on his own. The story of The Little Prince.
Jaein: What are you trying to say?
Man: How about we change the story into a story where the flower that he preciously grew gets plucked. Could it have been a beautiful fairy tale. If it was you, what would you do? The feeling of losing something that is very precious. Kang Sungmo, too. Ah, the thing that’s precious to Kang Sungmo. It’s not the only one now. His little brother Lee Ahn, Detective Eun Jisoo, too and you. The things that Kang Sungmo wants to protect have become quite a lot. That woman is still the only one for me.
Jaein: That woman?
Man: Ah. It seems like you don’t know anything. If you knew who that woman was, you’d understand my actions a bit easier.
Jaein: Never. It will not work the way you think.

Lee Ahn read the passage and didn’t understand how it’s become distorted.

Lee Ahn: It’s the time you spent on your rose that makes your rose so important. You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed.
Jaein: Right. That’s what he said.
Lee Ahn: I wanted to find out about this guy’s mentality so I’ve been trying to read this book I don’t know. It’s just a warm story for me.

The answer was given by young Sungmo in Episode 4’s flashback. He was looking at the definitions of love and obsession.

Love: A heart that treasures others and is warm.

Obsess: To have your mind continually drawn to and cling to something you can’t forget.

2. The similarities of Yungsung Apartment and the Hanmin Care Home cases, and the Kim GapYong case

Jaein: He shut down the security cameras beforehand and planned his murder thoroughly but he used a simple way to kill the victims. The Yungsung Apartment case and the Hanmin Care Home cases, and the Kim Gap Yong case were all stabbings in the abdomen. There’s something unusual though. The knife that was discovered at the site was not an established product.
Ahn: What do you mean it’s not an established product?
Jaein: It seems like it’s custom handmade. I saw him when he came to the Wire Class when he was searching for me. He was very good. It’s possible that the chains he tied me up with were also self-made.

The other similarity as I said from the start where the stab wounds. The victims were stabbed on the right side, indicating that the assailant was left-handed.

Another thing: the fires were started intentionally.

In the first fire at Yungsung Apartment, the killer/stalker brought the dead Jane Doe in the suitcase because he intended to kill Sungmo and leave Jane Doe’s body in the apartment. The fire was to cover up his abduction of the Sungmo’s mother.

Dr. Hong said that the dead female’s “face and hands were burned to the point of being unable to recognize her identity,” (I bet it was already disfigured prior to the fire) and “her ID car was in her pocket to they skipped the DNA test (the killer left the ID on purpose).

I think, the killer killed the neighbors in Room 702 because Sungmo and his mother both escaped him. To demonstrate his wrath, he killed other people in their place.

At Hanmin Care Home, he was almost successful in kidnapping Kang Hee Sook, the nursing aide with the silver ring. But Kim Gap Yong was able to get her out of there in the nick of time. Because his plans were once again upset, the stalker/killer/dad killed the three women whom Kang Hee Sook attended to in Room 701 and set the nursing home on fire. Again, he was sending a message that he would murder if his plans were thwarted.

He hunted down and eliminated Kim Gap Yong because he hid his Sungmo’s mother from him. But before Kim Gap Yong was killed, he was most likely able to warn Sungmo’s mom to flee the hospital, because she was no longer there when Kim Gap Yong’s person came to help her escape.

3. December 17

On December 17, Sungmo’s mom tried to commit suicide. Jisoo quickly noted that her press conference was on the same day. This was her statement to the media.

The bodies of Kang Hee Sook and Park Soo Young, found on the lower Han River, as the missing person due to a human trafficking organization from five years ago, have been revealed to be murdered by the leader of the organization, Kim Gab Yong. Kim Gab Young took advantage of the homeless or without families and gained profit for years by trafficking, kidnapping, and killing them. Since he was found murdered two years ago, the case will be turned over to the prosecution without an investigation.

Note: Five years ago is when the FAKE Kang Hee Sook (Sungmo’s mother) resurfaced.

Viki’s subs were particularly bad (subpar for this segment. Who the heck did THAT? A newbie?) so I’m getting some translated parts from kissasian.

JS: Lived here for three years and never missed the rent. But someone else came to sign the contract so the owner never met her.
SM: Unable to be reached after the fire
JS: So I did some investigating and everything about her is suspicious. She was a recluse until three years ago and had a poor credit rating. She signed up for a credit repair services all of a sudden, acquired a caregiver’s license and got a job there. But she has no family. No one knows anything about her.

It’s as if she’s an invisible woman. Oh! I showed her picture to the nurses, and they said they’d never seen anyone like her at the hospital.

SM: An invisible woman?
JS: It’s not even like I’m chasing after a ghost. I don’t even know why we’re looking for this person. I told Ahn to do some psychometry but I just feel iffy about it all.
SM: Her cellphone was disconnected so there’s definitely something strange going on. So what should we do?
JS: We should report her missing and wrap things up. They’d think I’m crazy if I suggest looking into the arson case just because I find her suspicious.
SM: Commissioner Eun would love that more than anyone.
JS: Gosh, this makes me crazy. I feel unsatisfied as if I didn’t finish wiping my poo. No. I’m just saying that’s the feeling. Let’s go eat breakfast.

It’s possible that she tried to commit suicide after she realized that she had acquired somebody else’s identity, the real Kang Hee Sook’s identity, with the help of a gangster Kim Gap Yong. In her mind, she has caused too many deaths in her attempt to run away from her stalker/killer. She felt trapped and she wanted to die to avoid hurting more people.

This reminds us of her conversation with another nurse at the nursing home about caged birds.

Mom: A bird that’s been trapped in a cage its entire life won’t fly away even if you open the door for them.
Another nurse: Pardon?
Mom: Whether the bird trapped in the cage would suffer more or the bird unable to fly even when given freedom, I don’t know anymore.

Five years ago, she was already feeling cornered and overwhelmed. She couldn’t tell anymore which one suffered more: the bird trapped in a cage or the bird unable to fly even when freed. Although she and Sungmo weren’t physically imprisoned anymore, both of them couldn’t live freely, out of fear of being hunted by their stalker.

4. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

I couldn’t decide which conversation between Jaein and Lee Ahn had me laughing.

Their heart-to-heart talk + nose scene OR their playful and innuendo-filled banter + kiss scene. What do you think?

“Without you, I’m not a psychometrist. Just a psycho.”

or

Lee Ahn: Yah! If we two go straight face to face like this, we’ll end up in an accident or even a big accident.
Jaein: Can’t we get into that big accident?
Lee Ahn: You do you even know the meaning of what you are saying right now?

Will continue tomorrow.

7 Comments On “He’s Psychometric: Ep 11 Flash Review”

  1. lee ahn so fuckin HOT.. IM BURN LOL

  2. I can’t decide too! But that “can we make that huge accident happen” talk is slightly winning for me, hahaha. Jaein is now as straightforward as Ian, i LOVE!

Anyway waiting for your episode 12 review 🙂

  3. Finishing up who Kim Gap Yong’s boss is.
    Give me an hour.

Had work yesterday so I couldn’t post anything.

  5. Hahaha.

I get the appeal. He’s ruggedly handsome.

But didn’t you see Jaein in his pink button up shirt?

  6. Same here. The “accident” scenario is winning against the “psycho” scenario by 0.0009.

And Lee Ahn’s reaction was funny. It was just like in his dreams when he imagined her leaning in for a kiss. She’s flirting with him. 😂

  7. Finished Ep 10 and onto Ep 11…may stall again if real life gets in the way 😬

    1. That nervous twitch of SM’s dad – where he tugs at his shirt collar. For a split second during the abduction of JI I thought I caught a glimpse of what looked like scar tissue on his neck… Similar to the scars on SM’s ankle. What if SM’s grandpa (on his dad’s side) was the original monster with a chain fetish? And SM’s dad had the chain around his neck?? 😮 Stabbing in the dark here (pun intended)

    2. And this conversation.
“Mom: A bird that’s been trapped in a cage its entire life won’t fly away even if you open the door for them.
    Another nurse: Pardon?
Mom: Whether the bird trapped in the cage would suffer more or the bird unable to fly even when given freedom, I don’t know anymore.”

Segway to real life – It reminds me of women in an abusive relationship 😢. They feel trapped. So even if there are no bars to keep them tethered, the abusive partner often keeps them in a constant state of fear so they can’t leave even if the thought crosses their mind. 😠

    3. The fact that the priest is in on SM’s plan and the prominent place of the crucifix between them in the background of their conversation? Alluding to a human sacrifice? Forgiveness? Both for SM forgiving himself for not asking for help earlier and bearing the guilt of all the deaths of the people in the apartment and potentially if 1. is true, then perhaps also his father? I prefer the latter story arc but he did kill a lot of people in cold blood – whether he is deranged or not. ☹️
