I was laughing so hard, I started wheezing. I didn’t know that laughter could trigger asthma. This moment deserves special attention. I’ll write about the rest of the highlights in another post.

Mo: Gu WeiYi! What’s wrong with you?
WY: I can’t sleep at other place beside my bed.

I think he means that he can’t sleep in unfamiliar places…which is true. He said this before when STM moved in and he wanted to take back her room.

He ends up in bed with her.

STM: (quietly) Situ Mo.
Mo: What’s wrong?
WY: I’ll sleep outside. I can’t sleep here.
Mo: Sleep. I trust you.
WY: Don’t trust me.

Awww. He’s telling her that he doesn’t know whether he can restrain himself the whole night sleeping beside her. This reminds me of Xiao Nai (from Love O2O) and his graduation from a two-year “voluntary” self-control.

Mo: I’ll sleep outside.

She sits up to leave and he pulls her back then and lays an arm on her chest to pin her down.

WY: Sleep. (closes eyes)
Mo: You’re touching my… (breast)
WY: (quickly removes hand) I’m so sorry.

He closes his eyes again and STM eyes him curiously.

She beams at him then stops suddenly.

I wondered why she behaved like this. At first, I thought she didn’t want to be caught staring at him like a fool. But that wouldn’t make sense since she roused him about the lights then opened the conversation about love.

I think now that she was ready for him to make a move on her. But when he shut eyes, she smiled because she knew she had to take charge if she wanted action. The initiative would have to be hers since he was going to be a gentleman and ignore her presence in bed.  That was why she stopped smiling and mentioned that the light was still on.

Mo: The light is still on.
WY: I’m going to turn it off. (starting to get up)
Mo: Gu WeiYi. Do you really like me?
WY: Why are you suddenly asking me this?
Mo: I just wanted to make sure.

She wants to be sure of his feelings before giving herself to him. The first time is important and she wants to make love with someone who loves her. To me, she was signaling to him that she was receptive to sexual intimacy with him.

WY: I love you.
Mo: Me too.

Next scene:

The funky background music clued me in that this was another one Gu WeiYi’s romantic fails. Plus, their hand positions.

Their hand positions were reversed. His hands were pulling up the blanket to his chin, while her arms were resting on top of the blanket. He looked defensive.

Mo: It’s okay. You always said, there’s a difference between theory and practice. Not to mention, we didn’t even learn the theory. Anyway, the teacher felt ashamed to explain it when I was in the physiology class. So, it’s normal that you don’t know how to do it the first time. I can understand it. 

WY: Can you stop talking?

Situ Mo’s expression is epic.

WY: Why are you so quiet?
Mo: Didn’t you ask me to stop talking?
WY: Say something.
Mo: What do you want me to say?
WY: I don’t know.
Mo: Let me sing you a song.

pwahahaha. I think that’s a Freudian slip. She’s going to sing him a lullaby because he’s like a baby. When it comes to making babies, he’s as clueless as a baby himself.

WY: You’d better sleep.

Gu WeiYi and Situ Mo’s misadventure isn’t unusual. The first time is awkward, and they were attempting to go for a “home run” immediately. Really, the baseball analogy of going first base, then second base, third base and home, in sexual initiation isn’t so bad because the idea obliges the couple to slow down the progression and focus on the foreplay.

And I’ve seen, heard and read funnier stories of their first times. Like, a virgin couple who freaked out the following morning when they woke up in a pool of blood. (lol) Or that girlfriend who was super-impressed that her boyfriend (both were virgins) lasted for an hour. She only found out months later that the condom was too tight and he’d been in pain. (ROFL)  Or the girlfriend who asked worriedly if “it” was already in, and he became a bit insecure because he thought she was insulting his size. As it turned out, he really wasn’t in…yet. (There were no instructions!!)

But let’s be serious here for a second. Whatever an inexperienced couple ends up doing (or not doing, ha!), the first time is an important moment. It’s wise to pick a partner who’ll value and treasure this precious gift of yourself.
