Soompi posted this flowchart to help us navigate the confusing relationships of the characters.
Whoops! Wrong one.
This one.

Of course, not knowing Hangul, this chart confused me more than it enlightened me. Couldn’t soompi have one of their many paid staffers translate the chart??
Snark.
So, I’m going to translate the important parts here.
1. The King is Lee Soo. He’s played by that actor who won the fairy in “Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter.”
See? That guy on the right. That’s the actor.
If there’s a drama god listening to me, then I wish his character does NOT get the girl this time. I’m still annoyed with the set up of Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter. That stupid fairy was the one who chased after the guy-in-the-middle, only to drop him like a hot potato for the other guy at the end.
In this romcom, he’s in love with a commoner whom he met, pre-royalty, as a blacksmith in town.
2. Gae Ddong is in the middle of the love triangle. Since she’s a lowborn woman, the king hires a company of “image consultants” to make her a suitable match for the king.
3. The head of this match-making company is Ma Hoon. He’s played by actor who was king in “Goblin” and the second leads in “Tempted” and “Best Hit.”
It’s about time that he gets the girl.
Remember him here?
Here, and
here?
I say he gets the girl because the relationship chart shows a line with a heart meaning that love is reciprocated. In contrast, the King Yi Soo has a ray with a heart going one direction, signifying a one-sided, unrequited love.
hahaha. Who knew that geometry would critical to understand relationship charts?
The show starts tomorrow so if you want to post spoilers, please do so here. Thanks!
So, I see from the relationship chart that this drama is going to be more like Pygmalion story with Gong Seung Young “Eliza” type character falling in love with Kim Min Jae’s “Prof. Higgins” type character as he transforms her into a noblewoman. I was thinking that this might be the set up, but I was a little confused because the Prince & GSY are long time loves at the start of the drama. The chart has cleared that up. I found a translated relationship chart over at Soompi Forums. Soompi also posted an article about the Character posters for the drama. According to the show source, the clors and flowers for each character poster have special meanings and serve as information about the characters.: https://www.soompi.com/article/1347243wpp/kim-min-jae-gong-seung-yeon-park-ji-hoon-and-more-feature-in-colorful-character-posters-for-flower-crew-joseon-marriage-agency
The drama looks cute, and will be available on Viki. It’s good news that there will be subs, but since it’s Viki it will probably take a while to be subbed.
Kim min jae absolutely male lead here 😁 the news alr said it 😍
Waiting for long time to see him as lead actor 😘 finally
Yes…. I can see why he’s the male lead.
Although the other guy/the future king’s romantic proposal had me thinking for a second that he could be the spoiler and the “true love,” I think his love story is stuck. The girl only sees him as a helper or a supporter. And she’s more excitable and skittish when the other guy, MinJae’s character is around. Example: she fell off the stone wall because she was startled that MinJae was proposing to her. But why would she even entertain that thought in her head when they were from different classes?
Is anyone else still watching this? It reminds me most of Anastasia. I’m liking the male actors but I can’t stand the girl. She reminds me of a young Anne Hathaway trying too hard and ruining a fave book’s screen version. I hope this is just the ‘rough’ version of her and I’ll like the character and the actress better during and after transformation.
I fast forwarded through some of eps 1 to 3, but liked ep 4 so will continue on to 5!
You can’t stand the girl, @ barbrey?
You and me, both. 🙂
I get that this is fusion sageuk and she’s supposed to act like a buffoon, to talk aloud as if the audience is listening to her monologue, and to look like tomboy, but her facial expressions really irritate me. Her smiles are forced; they don’t reach her eyes. And her “whoopsie!” moments are unamusing. I’ve watched 3 1/4 episodes and I haven’t laughed once at her antics. That’s how bad she is.
I’m staying for Kim Min Jae.
Me three! 🙋 But I love the Flower Crew so I’m staying! They are a cute bunch! 🙂
Oh I’m loving Kim Min Jae already! He’s killing this character. 😍
I like the story too. I feel bad for the King as he suddenly lost the woman he cares the most and gained the responsibility of the nation. Poor guy.
The interaction between MH and GT are good enough for me. ☺️ I’m actually excited to watch this drama. I’m on episode 4.
How cute that every episode has a flower dedicated to it. Am I right? 😊
Good morning, @agdr03. I’m playing catch up with this romcom. I’m writing a review of Episodes 1, and probably 2 combined, right now. I hope to post sometime today/tonight.
Glad you’re liking it too. 🙂
Yes, I thought that was a sweet detail, too. A flower for every episode.
Good morning! 🌞
I’ll look forward to your review. This is the most exciting drama for me now unless Tale Of Nokdu changes my mind. 😄 I’ll try to get to it after I finish this one.
It’s good that these dramas only air 2 episodes a week otherwise I would be swamped and maybe I won’t even manage to watch it. 😁
Yes
I guess the writer thought of a flower to indicate the theme of the episode. After all, we’re watching a “flower” crew. I guess at some point we’ll get roses for love, or something.
Haha. “No pressure” to finish the review, right?
Tale of Nokdu should be fun, too. But let me get this Flower Crew out of the way first. It’s been filed under draft for a couple of weeks now that I’ve forgotten what I was writing about. lol.
No pressure, of course! 😉
Yes, I believe Tales Of Nokdu should be fun as well. 😊
Ooohhh I just saw Ma Hoon’s smile and I just 😍 love that stomping quilts/doonas scene in episode 4. I think for me it’s the voice of the actress playing the lead that I’m not into 😂 Enough said.
Her exaggerated facial expression bugs me.
Plus, I think she has too many teeth in her upper jaw so when she does her forced smiles or forced laughter, she reminds me of a horse. Neiggghhhh.
But when she doesn’t show all her teeth (and when she puts down her hair), she’s actually fine.
lol. The stomping quilt reminded me of stomping grapes. hahaha.
I was going to say grapes because it reminded me of it too 😄
Agree, she’s fine without her winging or wining ☺️ She looks nice dressed as a proper lady. Another thing that I like in this drama is the flow of the story. It’s not boring for me and it is connected in a nice way.
That Da Joon is something else. I think in my next life I would have been one of those ladies that follows him and sighs with 😍😂
I know, right? DaJoon looks exquisite. And I like his height. I just googled it. He’s 6’2 or 189 cm.
Sure, go ahead and follow him. I catch you should you trip over his flowing gown. hahaha.
I’d trip for him over and over 😂 Wait I want him to catch me. 🤷🏻♀️🤣
Wow! 6’2! He is very tall and he is exquisite. 😍
How funny? There goes another tea ceremony 😁 GT is stumped. 😄
Oh no my bad. She did well 😄
I’m not sure but I think her name, Ggae Ddong, sounds like “dog poop” in korean.
I know ggae is dog. and ttong is poop. lol.
I’ll have to rely on @ flying_tool to confirm this.
Are you on Episode 5 already?!!
Oh wow, why does her name sound like that? 😄
I’m just typing it GT because I see it as Gae Ttong on the subs where I watch. Yes! Finishing episode 5 😆 I want to finish 6 but I’ll get too tired in the morning 😄
I’m not 100% sure about the dog poop, okay? We’ll have to wait for somebody to verify.
I’ve heard that “dog poop” pun in another drama.
Goodnight!
Yup yup, let’s wait on a confirmation about her name ☺️ She did say poop while stomping on the doonas.
Just finished episode 5! Have a good day! 😊
