“Big” cliff hanger: after their individual plans collapse, Minister Ma (while sitting on the throne) offers his partnership to his friend Minister Kang to change the heavens…meaning I presume a coup d’etat of some kind.
And oh, King Soo (I think) lets go of GD.

– we finally get the backstory of YS/MH (a bit anti climatic but I’ll take it)
– Lord Yun finally comes back to the Palace (MH/DJ planned it to perfection to save GD and her brother)

– final show down. As @flyingtool has intimated, coup d’etat as Prince YeonWoo returns from Qing China.
– DaeBi’s brother has been killed enroute to exile by Lord Ma so I guess this means she’s not going to play nice with Uncle anymore.
Gripes (Ep 15)
– the actress GSY. The blank face persists. One look to rule them all. 🙄. How is she holding up her head up when she’s supposed to be passed out as MH carries her off? Either plonk your head on his chest or have it lolling back? 😒. Girl has obviously never passed out in her life.
– why were they (MH and Soo) calling out “GD” when she faints immediately after Lord Yun went through the whole process of settling that she was his daughter Lady Yun? Just go with the non-descript “NangZha”? 🤔.

Awww I love this from Hoon. 😍 He was telling her that she doesn’t need to think of anything else and that she deserves to be happy. It was his message to her from his heart. Swoon! ❤️

I know…🙄. Maybe she was worried MinJae would drop her. He’s not a very big man and she’s not exactly the requisite “light as a feather” type heroine. So she was bracing for impact. 😂.
But yes all of MH’s lines were worth putting up with GSY’s acting. I wonder who plays Prince YeonWoo? Cameo part? The reveal is enough for me to stay watching till the end.

Joon to Gaedong: It would be annoying to see him cry.

And Joon came for Hoon when he was crying in the rain. He told Hoon they should leave because he’ll catch a cold. Awwwwww my heart. If Joon is this kind, why’d he fall for Jihwa. Ugh.
You know, I like a good “bromance.” This is why I watch My Country too, and it’s one of the things I loved about Goblin. Joon and Hoon’s relationship here reminds me of Dokkaebi and the Grim Reaper. Young Soo is like the Goblin’s pretend nephew possessed by a God.
Same @lollyminx. I love the MH/DJ interactions more than their respective love lines 😂. They get each other. JiHwa is conniving even in this penultimate episode. I cannot see how the writer will be able to convince us that she will magically turn over a new leaf tonight 🤔.
I loved what GD said to Jihwa, that she doesn’t have a heart that’s why she doesn’t smile.
That says it all for her so I don’t want her to be with DJ.

Yes, she’s not as light as a feather and I thought she’s almost as tall as Min Jae so she was probably being cautious. But it didn’t look natural at all. That’s what you call really faking it. 😂
Let’s see whose Prince YeonWoo. I think King Soo is good enough to be King because he thinks of his people.
@nrllee I was cracking up when in the preview, Joon ignored Jihwa. 🤭 Maybe that would turn things around for her? But I hope not. It would be too perfect a story line if she suddenly turns good… and in the last episode?
@agdr03 I agree. I don’t like Soo ending up with Gaedong but I still want him to be king. He’d do well. If he gives way to Prince Yeonwoo, wouldn’t that be a waste? Soo could have been married by now to the girl he loves but that didn’t end up happening because he’s the king. He’d probably be pissed if he has to step down for Yeonwoo. 😂

That’s right @lollyminx , Soo needs to be King at least because he lost the girl 😁 he needs a consolation price. I’m sure he will serve the people well. I hope he finds a suitable Queen for him later and one that truly loves him.

It’s telling of Gong Seung-yeon as an actor. She doesn’t pay attention to detail. I find her attractive in modern day clothes but it seems like she’s not taking acting seriously. I mean she shows up, she acts, but that’s it. She lacks the quality you see in actors like IU, for instance. IU gave her 110% and more in portraying Jang Man-wol, you can tell Seung-yeon, on the other hand… it’s frustrating cause Gae-dong is a good character.

Well, the Young-soo actor kind of deserves it. I’m not familiar with his kpop group but being an idol aside, as an actor, at least you get the sense that he understands his character. He’s not taking the opportunity to act for granted unlike you know who 🤭

I think what this popularity rating does is to screw the focus of the viewers. Instead of giving proper credit to the good actors, be they minor or major characters, this “buzzworthy” poll gives attention to where attention isn’t warranted, deserved or even wanted. It’s fine that the leads of “Camellia” and “Extraordinary You” are getting attention. They deserve it.
And, I must say that, in YoungSoo’s case, I can tolerate it.
But can you imagine a terrible idol/actor (imagine Kwanghee, for instance, acting, lol) getting #1 buzzworthy spot simply because of his large following? I’m sure this will create tension among the cast and ill-will and even censure from his own sunbaes because they’ll all know that the attention is undeserved.
How awkward will it be for the idol/actor? And he’ll have no one to blame for the awkwardness but his eager fans. So, no, I don’t think this buzzworthy poll is good for the actors in the long run. Sure, the idol/actor will get interest and even commercial offers, but at what cost?
It reminds me of participation trophies they award to children’s soccer. The kids get a participation trophy to feel good even when they haven’t done anything much really. Same thing. The buzzworthy poll is a sham when the #1 winner didn’t do anything much or stand out or wow the viewers with a mind-blowing performance. lol.

There can’t be double suns in the sky. The Queen has to be the moon, reflecting the sun.
Nope. I wouldn’t buy it either if she suddenly changed her mind and went with DoJoon. It’d be too convenient.
GD recuperates at the agency. MH thinks about moving it. YS leaves the agency guilt ridden after his betrayal despite having nowhere else to go. GD is mad at him and doesn’t want to look for him. MH sends DJ to go looking for him. We get an extended flashback of how ChilNom becomes YS ((Whatever gif)) as YS reminisces against the backdrop of his betrayal. The guard comes to arrest him as he is traipsing about in the village. He is taken back to Lord Kang. MH sends DJ to Lord Kang’s suspecting that that’s where YS is taken. DJ overhears servants/Guards talking about YS’s impending death after the coup.
Lord Ma and Lord Kang collude to bring about the downfall of Soo. Lord Ma spreads rumours about how Soo rose to power and his diabolical plan to have a commoner like GD become his Queen, seeding the idea of Prince YeonWoo being a better replacement King. DJ relays the news of the rebellion to MH and a frantic GD. 🙄 He chances upon JH in the village but this time, walks away, much to her disappointment ((Whatever gif)). Soo learns of this as well and talks about his options with the Captain and decides to call a meeting with the nefarious Lords. JH notices that there have been a lot of guests recently at her home and suspects her father is buying their allegiances. She doesn’t like this change of plans, a rebellion was not what she envisaged and she voices her disapproval to her father.
MH visits his father linking the poisoning of GD to Lady Ma (and his father). He also links the death of the Crown Prince to wolfsbane (on the arrowhead). He threatens to reveal all to Soo and pleads with his father to abandon his treasonous plans.
Original show down is to happen at final Queen selection day. Both parties prepare themselves. Soo visits GD one last time at Lord Yun’s. He releases her from the selection process…he disqualifies her for “being ugly” 😂, “too many pretty girls in the Palace” is his excuse…such a bad liar…but he let her go well. I liked this goodbye therefore NO ((Whatever gif)). 🙂😍. GD says her farewell to Lord Yun saying she wants to be GD once more. She gets kidnapped by Assassin and used as bargaining chip against MH. Lord Ma wants him to join forces to take down Soo. MH has no choice but to agree.
Lord Ma moves the showdown to the night before to introduce the element of surprise. He and MH enter the Palace and seem to be making headway until they are foiled at the last minute by the Captain and his troops. Flashback – MH and Soo met earlier to discuss and MH had played double agent. Lord Ma is given one last chance to repent. He kills his trusty Assassin before taking his own life. MH cries bitter tears.
GD is locked up together with YS and they make amends ((Whatever gif)). She eventually rescues YS. DJ approaches JH to ask for the whereabouts of GD/YS and she finally relents and gives him that information. DJ and the troops make it just in time to break the 2 of them out of the clutches of their captors.
The family of Ma is ruined. GD runs to find MH at the beach. MH is left with nothing. GD returns MH his “try again” fortune stick (second chance) and says they can start over regardless. Aww…this is nice, I like the dialogue, not so much the execution by GSY 🙄. Lord Kang is exiled, JiHwa is granted special amnesty though (because of her loyalty in and all the misdeeds were borne by her father? 🤔). I think it means she was stripped of her position as well? She seems to be living in a humbler cottage setting when we next see her but still in relatively nice clothes.
We get a time jump…a year later…
Eunuch Jang throws bridal proposals to Soo (who has lived as a bachelor for a year – noble idiocy trope (tick)). Soo protests that he’s “married to the country” but Eunuch Jang persists…
The lady with child in the earlier ep makes an appearance. And she gets married at the agency (presumably to the baby’s father). The agency seems to be back in business.
DJ gets his chance at becoming an official. He visits JiHwa in her humble lodgings. Tells her he’s going to sit for his exams and get his Post which is not quite royalty but is it enough to marry her? She wants to make her way back up to his elevated status now (like HOW?? 🤔) so she tells him to wait… he replies, “waiting is what I do best” and kisses her. ((Whatever gif))
GD’s brother and JiHwa’s maid get their happy ever after. He draws a pic of them kissing on the wall. ((Whatever gif))
MH in turn ties the love know on GD’s wrist and slips a ring on finger? 😳 And they kiss too.
Flower Crew Agency is back in business. They get a German client who wants to marry a Princess 😂. And after initial reservations, they decide to take his business.

I’ll watch out for KMJ’s projects though. I’ve only discovered him here and I like him.
It wasn’t a bad ending. You need to watch it to get the full effect. I think they wanted to finish it with some comedy. A bit odd with the German suitor but O well you get what you get. They ended it with their Flower Crew cheer/chant (4 musketeers now instead of original 3).
As for KMJ I think this is his first in a major role. Hopefully it gets him more offers.

The ring scene was…meh. 🙂 It pales in comparison to the daisy ring scene of Nokdu.
I agree it wasn’t a bad ending. I’m not happy I won’t be seeing Kim Minjae but I’m ok the drama ended. It didn’t end with a bang because it seems like some were rushed. Joon and Jihwa reconciled and it wasn’t as forced as I thought it would be. I was ok with it.
And same, I’ll also watch Kim Minjae’s projects. I hope he gets better stories next time. I’m also curious about Byeon Wooseok. Wonder what projects he’ll work on next.
Ooohhh loved that snubbed by DJ to JiHwa. 👍🏻 She deserved it and the song matched well to the scene. It’s good that they didn’t get together straight away. She needs to bring her sun on the ground and get used to it. @lollyminx , I like Byeon Wooseok too. ☺️
I agree, it wasn’t a bad ending though the first 20 minutes was scenes about the coup. I actually thought the scene with the German was cute. It was good too that King Soo is doing well and he said so himself, he’s married to the country. 😆
How true that both Hoon and GD really had nothing in life before they met each other. It’s sad too when someone dies and you haven’t made peace with them even if you tried.

I honestly agree with you when you said about GSY/gaettong acting performance. Its quiet distrub me to enjoy KMJ acting. When he is really into it..
Its my first time realizing about how bad chemistry can be if the one of them cant express themself on screen. The wide eyes acting quiet bothering me.
You know me, right? I dislike talking about “chemistry” because it’s subjective. What seems to be great chemistry for some, might be boring chemistry for others.
But here, GSY didn’t really work as Gaedong. She and KMJ were saying the correct romantic words, and KMJ’s character Hoon was showing Gaeddong the kind of tenderness customary for restrained aristocrats (we all know he isn’t going to tear of her clothes and ravish her). But there’s something missing in Gaedong. She smiles and flirts with Hoon but her affection doesn’t LOOK real. It’s not warming our hearts.
And the unfortunate thing for GSY is there’s that kdrama “Extraordinary You” with the actress Kim Hye Yoon. GSY is probably prettier than Kim Hye Yoon but Kim Hye Yoon is lovable. She would have made and excellent Gaeddong because I can believe her going after the bad guys, and telling off Hoon for being a cold fish, and rejecting Soo. I can imagine Kim Hye Yoon rolling off that pile of hay and “accidentally” landing on Hoon and kissing him. Had Kim Hye Yoon’s Gaeddong kissed Hoon, I would have applauded because she’d look cute. With GSY, I was turned off.
She’s trying too hard to be aegyo-ish when she doesn’t have aegyo. Really. I didn’t mind if she ended up being the Queen. lol.
Episode 16 looked rushed. I’ve to write my exit review for this kdrama but I’m not feeling it now.
I didn’t really like the end, neither dislike it. It was kinda meh… I never understood why Do Joon fell in love with Kang Ji-Hwa, she was an awful person. So I really didn’t care about their couple. Ko Young-Soo’s treason didn’t have any consequences and I agree that the main couple was lacking in sparks, seriously they should stop shooting kiss scenes with those big hats…
I like the King character but they really made him lonely.
For the 2019 fusion sageuks, The Rookie Historian had a very disapointting love story, but I really loved the work part, it was like a office drama. In this one, there was nothing speciall for me, it wasn’t completely bad but neither good. My hopes rest on The Tale of Nokdu, the love story is great, but I didn’t like the sudden switch of some characters.
I tried Rookie Historian because I wanted the actor/idol to succeed. What’s his name Cha Eun something?
But the actress there is another GSY. She’s actually worse than GSY, if you can imagine that.
So nope! I left after the second episode.
And true. I don’t get DoJoon’s attraction for Jihwa. Maybe he’s some kind of masochist who’s attracted to her because she’s the one who said no. The “unattainable girl” trope. But yuck. She wasn’t worth it.
I stayed for Cha Eun Wo ☺️
I have to agree that SSK is another GSY. But her voice is better than GSY. 😂
If I remember correctly, SSK’s voice is lower so she won’t be able to screech like Gaeddong when she’s shouting at Hoon.

😂 I like Woo DoHwan too. He lights up the screen. I watched him in Save Me where Ok Taecyeon was main lead. WDH was second lead and I totally shipped him with the girl. Not that there was much romance because it was about cults and they were trying to break her out from the cult. I would say he had far fewer scenes than Taec but I couldn’t keep my eyes off him (WDH).
Yes, Woo DoHwan looks like a manly man, that’s why he appeals to us, ahjummas, here.
I like Ok Taecyeon as an idol, i.e., served well in the military, no scandal so far, straight-shooter, decent, lived in Boston, Mass….lol.
But acting-wise??

For Rookie Historian, I liked the actress, she’s better in sageuk than modern drama. But I really didn’t like Cha Eun Wo. It was sad because I liked him in ID Gangnam Beauty but in this drama his role was not interesting (without him the story would have been almost the same) and he was not very good. But the 2 others actors were very good, Lee Ji Hoon and Park Ki-Woong.
@PM3 Same. I really like Taec in real life. Nice decent man. But his acting…I tolerate. 😂. And I feel bad because I desperately want to appreciate him on screen…but I just can’t ☹️

I think The King Monarch of Eternity is scheduled to air March 2020. I wasn’t intending to watch it because I am not into “epics” . Screen writer of DOTS, Heirs, Mr Sunshine and Goblin. Director of DOTS? So I am anticipating sweeping scenes and $$$ in each frame. 😂

The Devil is released into the human world and soon opens a door into a parallel world. The Devil asks if he lived a better life in the other world, if he could live in the other world. Against the Devil’s question, Korean Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min-Ho) tries to close the door to the parallel world and South Korean Detective Jung Tae-Eul (Kim Go-Eun) tries to protect the lives of people and the person she loves.

Yeah I am tuning in just to see what all the hype is about. I will stay for WDH 😂. And just to highlight the acting range of the respective “leads”, KGE and WDH have double roles, one in each (parallel) Universe…LMH only has one 😂 role…the King.
Why not? I’d stay for WDH too though ☺️ I didn’t even know his in it. Just don’t let it be like Mr Sunshine. I don’t like all the prolonged grandeur and slow scenes 😁

Wait… so Ok Taecyeon-Kim Goeun-Lee Minho? That’s such a weird combo. After watching Tune in For Love on Netflix, Kim Goeun fits well with actors like Gong Yoo or Jung Haein.
Ooooh sorry. I misread. It’s Woo Dohwan-Kim Goeun-Lee Minho not Ok Taecyeon. OMG you’re right. I already know I’ll be rooting for Woo Dohwan and Goeun.
I’m feeling Woo Dohwan in My Country. For some reason, I always like his characters. I first saw him in Save Me and he did a good job there. He upstaged Ok Taecyeon. Then I’m watching him now in My Country. Hwi is admirable because of his moral compass but I can’t help but sympathize more with Woo Dohwan. Can’t wait to see him in 2020 with Goeun. I like them both.

😂 that was me too @lollyminx. He appeared on screen and I sat up, “HELLO, who are you?” ❤️. Actually he hardly had any screen time compared to Taec but I kept looking for him to appear 😂 whenever Taec did.
I am currently watching Tune In For Love on Netflix too. I haven’t finished it because it’s long. I have to carve out 2hrs to watch it. Kim GoEun is not someone who stops traffic with her looks but I like her…her acting’s great. Actually she copped heaps of negativity when it was announced she was the female lead alongside LMH. Lots of negativity about her looks not being good enough to partner flower boy LMH. 🙄
Same! I was so mad when she had to delete her Instagram photo after Goblin because people were calling her ugly. She may not be the prettiest but I like how she acts. You can tell she loves acting. And OMG can she sing. I was watching Begin Again (Season 3, Episode 6) and she sang a song by Lady Gaga, acoustic. Dude… she slayed. She was doing promo for Tune in for Love and Jung Haein sang too. They’re both good singers.
As for those who said she’s not good enough for Lee Minho, well he isn’t good enough for her. I don’t know. I just can’t seem to like him. He kinda looks good, I guess, but there’s just something about him I don’t like.

😂 I suggest you hole up here and discuss with us when we go against the tide and rave about WDH and KGE. I have never understood the buzz about LMH myself either. Never watched any of his dramas.

I saw that clip of KGE singing I’ll Never Love Again by Lady Gaga and she was splendid. I only watched her in Goblin and she was great there. She is a good actress even if she’s not as pretty. I don’t follow her but I wouldn’t mind watching her again. She will deliver for sure.
My sisters and I have followed LMH since the beginning of our kdrama obsession but he was never my first ever crush. It was someone else from Boys Over Flowers 😂 but not anymore though. I didn’t really follow LMH too but my last drama of his was Legend of the Blue Sea. I enjoyed that. ☺️ But just seeing WDH in My Country for the first time ever, I know whose the winner already in my opinion. 😉
