The thread is now open.

As I said before, the comments on the Start-Up threads will be limited to old-time posters. They have a proven track record that they know how to interact well with others here, and I don’t need to moderate their posts.

If there’s a newbie with a compelling argument, however, I’ll approve the post.

Should you have an axe to grind with me, please find another grindstone.

  1. Just checking to see if I am considered an “old timer.” 😝

  2. Going to soon start watching it 🙂

  3. You’re an old geezer, John_L. How was Thanksgiving? No turkey leftovers?

Believe it or not, I have tofu leftover from Thanksgiving. I ordered a small tofu-turkey for my vegetarian in-laws and bought blocks of tofu for salad and dessert, in case they didn’t like the tofu-turkey.

  4. I am not familiar with the writer’s previous works… but what are the odds of us being served an open-ending? 😀

  5. Naaaaahhh, this is not an open ending!

    Hahahha I’ll cry a river otherwise 😂🤣😅

I’m happy Samsan Tech is back for good! The squad is back 😍

Anyway, I’m 100% positive the twins are the culprit of the ransomware. They sure are greedy aren’t they? I’ll apologize if they turn out not be the suspects. But they are the most ✨suspicious✨. From the lunch when Dalmi saw them to that new hire that they let to work from home. And haha they’re beaten yet again by Dosan & Team!

BTW, Chulsan has a cameo on Tale of the Nine-Tailed 😁. I just saw a clip on insta and hahaha what a nice connection tvn did there hehe

Well, Ep 14 gonna be another tear-jerker episode 😭. We’re gonna have a heartbreak yet again!

  6. I want fangirls to tell me this episode why Jipyeong deserves to win Dalmi’s heart, I dare them. because this episode guess what made me dislike even more, of course we get a repeat of the scrunchie scene, of course we do because he’s not changed one bit. You mean to tell me its been three years and he didn’t change. Like I can’t stop laughing at how pathetic he is. Sorry sounding like a hater but at this point for Jipyeong, no words to explain how much I am disappointed with a character.

  7. Like lol he had at most 2 years to woe Dalmi but he finally decided to make a move after Yeongsil made a fortune telling pffffft
Now that Dosan’s around, he did the kerk move again.
He really didn’t change one bit. He’s still slow.

  8. He’s still a jerk, not kerk hehe😅

  9. HJP took 3yrs to listen to his ancestor (Yeongshil). Love the reference to baseball again about batting or hitting the ball… get a strike or home run. He is just always a tad bit late. He had all the chances while Dosan was gone but he never took the risk. And the gift box! He was being immature again (I guess we know who is the real manipulative sad boi).

The universe conspired to bring the two together. Funny how the fangirls are saying HJP was cock blocked or Dosan is always interfering. This time it was the other way around.

I love the Samsan Tech reunion! We all know they will stay and fill the open developer roles to help Dalmi’s project.

I am still waiting for Injae to fix things with her family. Not sure if she is just a workaholic or there are surprises again.

  10. I love how the sisters are fine now, working hand in hand together. Sadly, Injae still doesn’t participate in any family holidays, like Chuseok. She deserve to be happy with her family more but instead it’s JP joining the family celebration. Well, good for him he’s experienced chuseok with family/people/companion/anyone now.

They didn’t include the dialouge I talked about that was shown in last week’s preview. The one where Jipyeong told Dosan he thinks he has the right to stop DS from meeting her. Thank God at least DS and DM met before this pathetic declaration/claim move by JP. At this point, JP’s pursuit to Dalmi is so pathetic, cringy even.

  11. I was wondering about the dialogue till the end of episode too… I thought I didn’t pay enough attention/accidentally missed it since I had replayed so many samsan guy scenes lol

  12. Lol. That’s why Geeks are sexy! How cool was their re-entry into Sand Box.

  13. The way Dosan took off his jacket and went straight to the business 😍😍 OH LA LA 😘😍💖

  14. Working on my quick takes. 😂

  15. Hello everyone, been reading your articles for a couple of months.. I’m a newbie here but I hope I can contribute in discussing over this good drama.. firstly, please have my gratitude for you all. I am so happy to find this website. Previously I was hesitant to speak up, but in other platform with other admins, I have to admit that I’m getting frustrated with this fanwar esp. the comments from HJP fans. It’s like we can’t discuss the characters objectively..

As for the 13th episode, what makes me happy are:

    1) Injae’s smile to Dalmi’s spirit in her workplace (yeah, I’ve been waiting for the heartwarming sisterly love scene in this drama but I have to be satisfied with the smile, I wish I could see more though).

    2) DoSan’s phone call to Dalmi. I don’t know but I got a lil bit teary eyed in this scene. It makes me remembered the scene of Reply1988 when Doksun and Bora’s grandmother death could not make their father cried right away. He tried to be strong but when his brother finally came, they cried together. Dalmi’s tough and optimistic mindset was wavered when the ransomware attacked. I somehow can sense that she actually wanna cried but hold it. However when Dosan called her, she’s like.. losing it.

    3) Of course when Samsan tech come together and doing what they can to solve the decryption key. Saha and Chulsan for me sometimes are the scene stealer on this drama. I always got excited when it comes to their scenes somehow. And noted that Saha was sitting beside Chulsan all the time.. aaww..

What makes me less happy are:
    1) Please anyone who can explain, I don’t understand why did Dalmi cry? I assumed that there was more conversation between HJP and Dalmi in the office but we didn’t get to see it in 13th episode. I kinda hope that she has made up her mind about who she will choose. I am team Dosan from the very beginning but at this point, I actually wanted to see Dalmi’s effort for this relationship. If she won’t choose Dosan just be clear with him. My sister said that maybe she’s just focusing her mind to work for the last 3 yrs. but still, I kinda hope more for her character to meet in halfway. I believe that love should meet in halfway anyway.. equal efforts for both parties.

    2) I was trying to understand HJP actions for all this time. But I failed. There are too many scenes of him that makes me disappointed with him. 🥺 From what he’s been done 15 yrs after separated with Dalmi’s grandma, To the point where he’s already getting closer with Dalmi’s family now. I can’t understand why he’s not taking it to another level? (I wanted him to not be a bitter person and to have a little more empathy towards others. I also imagined before that he could be like IU’s character in My Mister’s ending, yes he was an orphan and lonely but grandma was so nice to him back then, i kinda hope that his personality Have changed and opened his heart. Yet I don’t even know who is his bestfriend, or did he try to make friends with anyone. And after I read some articles here, I have to agree that his love for money is too big.) I just hope that this character will eventually developed and do the things that acceptable by my moral values.. 😅

Ps: dear all, I’m sorry that I talk so much for a newbie.. thank you for the opportunity to talk here…

  16. Just like the episode title, I see the characters evolving & making bold choices outside of their comfort zones in E13.

Dalmi choosing to apply at Injae. Grandma had to let go of her corndog cart, her source of income & comfort zone for the longest time. Mom choosing to live a simple life with her family. JP “finally” summoning the courage to pursue Dalmi (though I think he’s too late again). Sa-Ha who cannot commit but seemingly open to Chul-San. The 3 Samsan boys deciding to stay in Korea & start over. The time jump is good because it feels like a reset almost.

With JP not getting any advantage or progress for the last 3 years, I can’t help but wonder if this is setting us up for a neutral ending. Anyway, the greatest love story you’ll ever have is with yourself ❤️ Regardless of Dalmi’s choices, I’m looking forward to where the last 3 episodes will take us ☺️

  17. I am watching (reading) from the sidelines and it make me wonder if (like Laurie from Little Women) JP’s interest in DM is fundamentally more a need to be part of their family (with Grandma) rather than purely one where he actually likes her per se? Because he feels threatened? That DS would take his place in that family unit? He seems to launch into protective mode (bristles up) when DS is around? Because like Laurie, he’s lonely. He obviously enjoys being part of that family unit. And he sees his only way to secure it is to win DM’s heart? 🤔

  18. Question: Why do you think Dosan becomes colder in the trailer apart from thinking JP and Dalmi are dating (because JP is just so predictable at this moment, he definitely made him think that yet again) but even if they are why would he change his plans and become colder and tell Dalmi he doesn’t want to see her again? Is he being forced to? Is this noble idiocy again?

as for ransomware it could be the twins, but I wonder if Injae’s step father may also be involved, he could have hired them to do something, we do see him angry and annoyed at the successes of Samsan tech as a whole. Maybe he asked the twins to do something for money/to get rid of dalmi? I don’t know

  19. There’s really nobody else there who could do the cyberattack but the twins. It’s too late to introduce new characters so the twins must be the “it” guys.

Chairman Won may or may not have paid them to do it. It seems like it because the twins were seen lunching with someone.

As for Dosan pushing Dalmi away…

I did say that I wanted Dalmi to chase after Dosan, right? I guess, she did already 😂 but I want Dosan to know that Dalmi chased him, too. He’s done all the running so it’s about time for Dalmi to return the favor.

I don’t know Dosan would shut off Dalmi. But my guess is JP MANIPULATED him again to think that something was going on between him and Dalmi and that Dalmi was still undecided about her feelings for him.

That’s the problem with Dalmi, too, you know. She kept being coy and saying that she didn’t know who was in her heart (like JP did with Grandma) when she knew it was Dosan all along.

If you were a straightforward sort of guy, would you like her dithering? No.

The setting in Ep 13 was 2019. You could see the date on the email sent by the hackers. So the story hasn’t reached 2020 yet. 😂

  20. I’m annoyed at Dalmi, like yeh I get you have some self doubt issues right now, but seriously? Urgh. I now understand why Dosan is the way he is in the promo. just started watching this episode and you’re right she’s the problem

  21. We’re almost there we still need to deal with all the self-esteem issues and the connection to the letter. So we’ll get a full-circle moment with our characters next week and finally see their final growth and development. But now I can finally say 100% endgame for Dosan and Dalmi. fate reunited them again, and now we have one more villain to defeat and we’ll soon see all their dreams and hard work come true whoooo 🙂

  22. It’s strange how I’m starting to feel insufferable towards Dal Mi, didn’t expect that. Her actions are so out of character at times, like her interactions with her sister at the beginning of episode 13. Perhaps showing us a short 5 minutes of what happened over the 3 years instead of a narration would’ve been more convincing…

And perhaps unpopular opinion, but the romance is falling a little flat for me. At this point, I wish they would bury their past as lovers and move on; acknowledge that they’ve all brought tremendous value to each others’ lives (love Samsan Tech and they really have great dynamics, good to see they’ll be working together again) and not necessarily needing romance to be at the core of it. I feel that it wouldn’t take away that from a beautiful, satisfying ending if Dal Mi and Do San do not end up together. After all, so much of this show has been about growth and self-discovery!

  23. Dear packmule3: I’m so agreed with you, especially how you pointed out about Dalmi. From eps 13 I’m starting to get a little disappointed because of her. Moreover in eps 14 when she said to JP that it’s okay that JP manipulated Dosan. Why Dalmi Why?

And I also wanted Dalmi to make the efforts for their relationship. I want her to chase after Dosan. Yes she chase him but still she didn’t talk anything related to her feelings. I guess the writer want to save it for the final episode, but can I tell you guys, I’m getting exhausted and draining because of team JP’s comments all over social platforms. I want to watch the last episodes with peace, but I guess.. i dont know if i can..

Highlight for episode 14: Injae and Yongsan. They are more mature as I wanted them to be. 🙂 one of happiest scenes.

And I don’t know why I keep getting disappointed with JP. Yes he apologized for being too harsh. (Something that I want him to do since the early episodes). But he did it only after yongsan has apologized first. I guess his pride too high to say sorry first 😅😅

  24. Characters’ developments on Episode 14 *clicks fingers* 👏👏👏

I cried when Injae went to grandma but then Grandma didn’t recognize her because she can’t see her clearly anymore 😭
It hurts because after all those years, no one ever told her about her grandma’s gradual blindness. Her mother only informed her 3 years after! Argh I have less hatred to mother now but she’s still a bad mother huhu. Injae could’ve spent more time with her grandma and family then.

  25. I enjoyed 14.

    *Dosan’s mom’s love calculations–30/50/70/100.

*Did someone mention chasing (@moonstar512). 30% chance she has lingering feelings because she came here. 50% if she insists on going to Dosan. 70% if she makes the journey to him. 100% if they comeback together.

*As for Dosan, he wasn’t able to erase the whiteboard of the driving car that was left there 3 years ago and the Follow Your Dreams baseball was returned to him (after he threw it out). Seems appropriate b/c he cannot erase her from his mind even after 3 years–nor she. Doesn’t it seem like everything returns to Dosan–the baseball, him returning the Turning a misunderstanding to reality card @ sandbox, and meeting Dalmi in a remote cabin in the woods.

*I like the new JP. Though he sent Dosan away in the elevator, he admitted to himself that he did wrong. Him calling Dalmi to let her know Dosan came by and may have caused a misunderstanding regarding his relationship w/ her.

I can’t wait for next week. Kdrama and Netflix have put out some duds recently (Private Lives & DDSSLLS). I’m looking for some redemption on this series.

  26. I’m watching “The Uncanny Counter” on Netflix. Will tell you if it’s any good.

My bookclub ladies have been urging me to watch “Outlander” and join their Jamie fanclub. 😂😂 I’m afraid if I begin watching Outlander, this blog won’t see me again for a long while.

  27. I thoroughly enjoyed ep14 too. Dosan’s narration on the Elevator Speech at the end wraps up each character’s persuasive speech. Yongsan to JP, Injae’s mum to Injae about doing something for grandma, the betraying developers to the step brother, JP to Dosan, and my fav Dalmi to Dosan.

I felt Dalmi’s pursuit of Dosan would not have been so desperate if not for Injae telling her that if Dalmi cannot recruit the Samsan Tech guys, she will be fired. I am glad Injae did that. I am also glad Dalmi told Injae how she broke up with Dosan. This two sisters were close until their mum remarried and they moved overseas and it is beautiful to see them grow closer together again.

  28. Hi! I’m a lurker here (since over a week ago hihi) coz social media is full of rabid fangirls of JP it’s making me unnecessarily worked up lmao but your reviews calms me down haha
I just want to let out my disappointment with Dalmi here if it’s okay. It’s been three years and yet she still can’t make things clear between the two men and what they really are to her. She can’t even put a clear line between them and her. So it’s understandable to why Dosan is so confused and just want to push her away. You know words without action is insincere but action without words is also confusing (base on my own experience lol) Honestly, at this point I just want Dosan to leave again 🤭😂 and go back to 2sto lol and find a woman who won’t make him feel confused and insecure lmao. If I was Dosan I would just get away from her completely (like I did back then lol) but the boy is too whipped for her. 😩😅 By the way I love all your reviews. They are very on point, insightful and logical. Looking forward to your review for ep14. ❤😘

  29. Yes, mom dearest is wrong for not telling her but Injae is wrong too for not checking up on family, LeeDale. Did she need an engraved invitation to visit her Granny? 🙂

365 days x 42 months (3.5 years) = 15,330 days or chances to drop in

But yes, I’m glad she checked up on Granny as soon as she learned about it.

Moral lessons? Charity begins at home.
Be a filial child. Time is wealth. And so on.

I like that she didn’t introduce herself and didn’t make a fuss of that encounter.

  30. @packmule3, I absolutely agree that Injae wasted years not visiting her grandmother. However, I was also surprised that Dalmi and their mother never told Injae. They are all a family and need to communicate. It wasn’t to be kept a secret from Dalmi, unless I’ve missed something.

@JohnL, I liked everything you wrote about Episode 14. Yes, JP lied, but he called Dalmi immediately and let her know that she could still catch DoSan in the building. I think Dalmi’s reaction saying it was okay was not right but happened because she was still so embarrassed/sad/mortified about how she broke up with him. She couldn’t let herself think that getting back with him was possible.

Many of the characters are making mistakes, but overall, I think they are all growing better in 13 and 14. All except for the twins and the Wons. I’m not counting Injae of course because she’s asked to annul her adoption.

I liked that Jipyeong apologised to YongSan. It may have come after YongSan’s apology but I felt it was sincere. I was relieved that he could say to YongSan that as a man he disliked the team joining Dalmi’s group but in a business sense they would be good partners. I liked how YongSan has become more reflective and less reactive. I also liked that Jipyeong said that Grandma’s sleeping could be due to her feeling lost after giving up her shop. It was a sensitive thought.

Jipyeong’s assistant is still ignored by Jipyeong at times. JP heard him tell the insurance man to stop trying with Dalmi. Will he be the one to say that to JP, too? Or will it be Yeong-sil? 😆 If JP asks for the weather, will he get more relationship advice? Or, perhaps if he asks for relationship advice he will finally get the weather. 😂

I liked the print of the child on a swing in DoSan’s room.

  31. @nrllee, I like your idea that Jipyeong is actually more attracted to the family than to Dalmi. If he doesn’t get around to giving the ‘thing in the box’ to Dalmi, it could make a future relationship with Injae a tad more believable.

  32. In the Ep. 15 preview, JP called out Dosan for still looming on his insecurities and JP told Dosan off to look again to Dalmi. I think JP’s finally going to wave the white flag in this triangle.

But with other previews, I would just take this with grain of salt and wait for things to pan out on the episodes.

  33. I thought episode 13 was ok. It almost seemed setup to show each failing of JP. He was manipulative when he pretended to be asleep, he was immature about the hands, he was a bully when it came to show the box to DoSan, etc…

I really don’t know what to make of episode 14 however. Why is DalMi repeatedly valuing her career over her relationships (okay, relationship with DoSan.)

I don’t think there is any excuse for JP’s lie. While he did admit it to DalMi he wasn’t even honest about that then he was excited when DalMi said she wasn’t going to follow DoSan.

Right now I don’t think DalMi deserves DoSan. Will they address that in the last 2 episodes or will DoSan ‘forgive’ her again?

  34. @Fern. It just makes more sense then? The fact that JP never really conceived that idea of “liking” Dalmi until DoSan appeared? Suddenly his spot in the family unit was under threat. He was the DS of the letters. He felt entitled to be in that family. Here was the real DoSan seemingly leveraging off the good will that he had built through those letters? Of course it wasn’t exactly like that because as Packmule and others have pointed out, the real DS had stellar qualities that superseded the imagined DS of the letters and he earnt his spot in Dalmi’s heart. But maybe from JP’s point of view, that would’ve been a looming threat that needed to be stamped out because it undermined his spot in that family unit. In all honesty he shouldn’t have worried. Grandma loves him unconditionally. He would always be part of that family, whether he was with Dalmi or not. He probably feels that the only way he can actually secure his spot in that family with any certainty is to be married into it? 🤔

  35. I remembered that the actor Seon Ho said there will be a plot twist in 15th episode, wondering if it’s related to his white flag over his feeling towards Dalmi. And to the possibility of him having “something” with Injae. Hohoho

Oh and I am having the similar thought with @nrllee about Jipyong’s feeling to Dalmi. The way I see it, Jipyong needs a family more than a romantic lover. I assumed that he already got to feel as a family member in the last 3 years. And maybe this actually enough for Jipyeong, that’s why maybe he didn’t rush to make a move with Dalmi too.. however, since Dosan back, he feels threatened in a way.

I just hope that the writer and creator team make a satisfying ending for all of us. More satisfying than Dream High ending ofcourse 😅😅

  36. Dear packmule3 thank you for posting my thoughts. I am sincerely exhausted at the end of Ep 14 and in need to share and found this place as safe haven out of the rabid ship war.

    InJae:
She has so much pride in abundant like you said, I agree that it’s no one fault that she’s the last to know. I believe they open an invitation to her so many times and her pride get in the way every time. For this type of character we can’t expect an overnight change. When mom told her about grandma condition i feel like she’s saying open your eyes or you will regret it like me. But on InJae case it’s the most character development and I root for her.

    JP:
Ah what to do with this one. I somehow feel that the writer-nim deliberately stunted his growth. He’s so consistent on his pattern and limited view. He mislead DoSan and immediately go to call DalMi to goad her in such calculative way. Is he sincere in telling DalMi to go after DoSan? No, he just want to feel her reaction for his benefit and self-assurance. But I saw a glimmer of hope for his redemption at the end and with the preview so who knows?

    DalMi
Her insecurity got the better of her again. She doesn’t want to deal with the giant DoSan elephant in the room so when jp offer her an easy out she took it. She shoved it in a box and thinking that once DoSan leave it won’t matter anyway. The thing is yes she has a hard time, she worked hard and I don’t know, I imagine her thinking that one day when she finally run into DoSan again she will be a self-made, stand on her own two-feet proud. And the ransomware attack shattered her illusion. Now based on her convo with InJae and her confrontation with DoSan I understand why DoSan is having a harder time. She didn’t know how much those words she didn’t mean hurt DoSan. She hold on to that illusion that she bog DoSan down and she sent him away for his own good and in part also because the thought of being DoSan’s bog made her miserable. She love him so she sent him away yes but also partly self-preservation. I’m glad that DoSan turns it on her because noble idiocy only ever hurt the other party. She knew she’s being cruel but being the one saying things you didn’t mean you won’t know the damage it caused. I need her to show up more for DoSan on the next chapter of their journey.

Btw i do have questions if anyone can give me some context for when DalMi suddenly showed up in the mountain, I was as baffled as DoSan was and also thinking what are you doing here?

I’m keeping my thoughts on DoSan for now because he deserves a big giant love letter.

    Appreciate you all here.

  37. Fern,

Injae’s ignorance of her Granny’s vision loss is everybody’s fault:

mom, for not telling her sooner,
    InJae,
Dalmi, she worked with InJae everyday and told her about her breakup with Dosan) and
Granny too, bec she initially wanted her condition kept private.

However, since we should believe in taking personal responsibility, I’m apportioning the greatest share of the blame on Injae herself. As I said, she had 3 and a half years to make time to visit her granny or to talk to her on the phone.

    She didn’t.

    That’s the appalling part.

When you look at the big picture, her ignorance of her granny’s health is only a small issue or a small crack in her character flaw.

Her bigger issue is that she disowned her family, and recreated herself as a chaebol’s stepdaughter. She told Dalmi in the Ep 1 that seeing Dalmi’s scruffy shoes confirmed her belief that she made the right decision to exit the Seo family.

But in Ep 12, she realized that the Won family she’d latched herself on was not truly her family. She mocked her stepbrother’s pettiness for getting back at her for calling him an “idiot” at the board meeting three and a half years ago.

But she’d forgotten that she also spent these three and a half years trying to prove to them that she wasn’t a “chewed-up gum.” She even gave her company her own name as if to remind them what a valuable person they had “lost.” She was going to make them regret kicking her out and treating her like a chewed-up gum. Pride is her preciousssss, remember?

So, learning *by chance* that her grandma was almost blind was an eye-opener for her. After her encounter with Granny, she must have felt regret and anger. She realized that her focus of her energies had been wrong. Instead of working herself to the bone to prove a point, she should have taken time with her Granny.

Hence, she ordered her adoption reversed. She did want to be called Won anymore. She wanted to revert to being a Seo again. She was a Seo before she became blinded by the status of a Won, anyway.

Learning of her Granny’s loss of vision served as a catalyst for her transformation and rehabilitation. Just like with JP. He wouldn’t have transformed and rehabbed if he hadn’t learned the truth of Granny’s vision loss from Dosan.

In both cases, we cannot fully blame the messengers of truth, i.e., the mom and Dosan, for not disclosing the information in a timely manner. The onus of keeping themselves informed on the status of family members and loved ones is on InJae and JP. 🙂

  38. Where did SeonHo say that there’ll be a plot twist in Ep 15? I want to see it please.

In Dream High, the story of the second male lead was done. Taec gave up Suzie.
It was unsatisfying because Suzie was still waiting for Kim ?? (whatever that actor’s name was) to return from the US. Suzie said he should go to the US to prove to her that he could be the best…or something like that. He was about to perform at the Grammys. Then, the story ended there. The writer wanted us to believe that the guy was returning to Seoul after his performance and meet up with Suzie.

With Start-Up, Dosan already returned to Seoul after his successful venture in the US.

In Ep 13, he rescued Dalmi.
In Ep 14, after yet another interference/cockblock from that JP

—And so what if he apologized to Dalmi? Sigh. Let’s reframe his action, shall we? Is it okay if I DELIBERATELY break YOUR arm, then apologize to YOUR PARENTS for “accidentally” breaking your arm?

JP the weasel: What have I done? (calls up Dalmi) I just ran into Mr Nam in the elevator. I said something to stop him from going to see you, and he might have gotten the wrong idea about us. I apologize.
    Dalmi: Well, that’s fine.
JP: You can still catch up with him.
Dalmi: That’s unnecessary. He’s going back to the US anyway. Also, our relationship ended three years ago.
JP: Thanks for saying that. Okay, then.

Yes. The apology is good. That’s how douche-y he is that an apology from him is already deemed a step-up for him.
But Fact 1: he didn’t apologize to the RIGHT person.
Fact 2: This is a lie: “I said something to stop him from going to see you, and he might have gotten the wrong idea about us.” What happened was he INSINUATED that he and Dalmi were dating so Dosan would get the wrong idea of them.

It’s the scrunchie incident all over again. But he just prettified it with a fake apology.

He’s still a weasel. A “better” weasel but still a weasel.

  39. @ella, I believe it was when Injae gave Dalmi the second chance, and “not a threat” to recruit the 3 Sans as developers for her company. If I didn’t remember wrongly, Injae said she will fire Dalmi as CEO if she does not manage to recruit them. And it was out of that desperation that she went all he way to get Dosan. She had to put down her pride and go all the way to find him. It is her internal struggle though. She is in denial but she still need to get the company to work.

  40. @grace yes the first time when she came to the rooftop apartment was because of InJae pushing her but after the talk with DoSan, she apologized and she left almost immediately. Then jump to her going after DoSan in the country side but why though? She did say she’s not done yet, not done pitching her proposal at the expense of hurting DoSan more? or she cannot accept that she and DoSan are done? I don’t know haha.. this is where i need you all to help me get the context, her reasoning.

  41. I’ll answer you on the blog, Ella.

    🙂

  42. Gonna sound like a rant, sorry:

Am I the only one who felt like the very last episode was a bit draggy? I binge-watched all 14 eps in a week, and I have to say that my favorite episodes are the earlier ones, right before this show gave us too much stare-off scenes between GoodBoy and DS.

I can’t seem to shake off the feeling that the drama is just trying to squeeze in as many Mr. Han scenes as possible for fans to swoon over his small gestures again until the very end (hiding DM under the desk, giving YS advice, lying to DM to “protect” her etc). It’s clear as day that Dalmi is just thankful for his help and advice, nothing more. How could the same data-oriented, realistic VC dude bought a jewelry just coz his Alexa told him to do so? Please Show, anything but a JungPal 2.0 scene with that jewelry box next week…

We could’ve been given more In Jae too, no? Like why did she suddenly show up outside the church w/o her handbag and left just like that? And gimme more tech/business scenes puhleasee.. The brainstorming montage in the old office with the Samsan Gang and all of them solving the ransomware issue are admittedly cheesy, but those scenes + the sisters being badass CEOs are what I thought I signed up for. And please show us that DS still knits? (Sidenote, I was also a little upset at how Noongil is no longer DS’s baby in the current timeline)

With only 2 episodes left I hope Start-Up would show us more of DM and IJ winning against Morning Group and helping lives with AI, IJ reuniting with her whole fam, DS reuniting with Grandma after 3 yrs, ChulSaha, the trio’s friendship, Mr. Han buying something for Grandma, and the list goes on.

    RE: Plot Twist
I’d take anything as a plot twist aside from a Mr.Han-DM ending. I’d even settle for an open ending with DS and DM spending more time as business partners first..

(who are we kidding, what I truly want is a follow up of that rooftop kiss scene =p).

  43. Did I read draggy? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I said it before that the writer will drag this till ep 16?🤭🤭🤭 Haish… I think she should just tied up the story nicely at ep 12(?)

  44. @hafunohane I definitely echo the ‘draggy’ bit – the show had so much going for it in the earlier episodes but what’s driving the plot now? I’m a little lost.. does anyone feel the same way?

It’s a shame that some character development has been served to us on a plate, and we just have to believe that so much yet so little happened during the 3 years.

  45. @Ella, I agree with your very well-rounded ideas about Dalmi.

@hafunohane, I share your hopes for next week’s episodes. Since there is still a fictional year to cover, much could happen.

@packmule3, thank you for your explanations about Jipyeong and Injae.

I was musing about the effects of leaving job and belongings behind to relocate spontaneously while on vacation as the Samsan men did. I’m not sure l could do it. Have any of you done something similar on purpose?

  46. @packmule3: as for the source Seonho telling about twist i read from here..it is a magazine interview with him. he said that there are twist along the way to the final episode..

    https://thetalkingcupboard.com/2020/11/21/kim-seon-ho-esquire-december-2020-interview/

@dreamer:i also feel the same about what’s driving the plot now..

@hafunohane: ahh, me too.. i still hope that i will get to see more stories on Injae and Dalmi as duo badass in the last 2 eps..

  47. I’m glad that it was Dosan’s dad who found the ball and gave it back to Dosan, not the other way around when Dosan regretted his decision and decided to take the ball again. It means, unlike JP, he’s rational and logical. He didn’t just throw the ball away to take it back later. It’s almost like the ball and dosan are idk, meant to be?

  48. Thanks for the link, moonstar512. 🙂

  49. Just stopping by to say that Dosan’s mom has the best dating advice. I think Dosan got his analytical/no-nonsense mind from her.

  50. 14 episodes in and I still don’t see why JP is so popular and why a lot of people want Dalmi to end up with him. I didn’t watch Start Up right when it started but heard so much about major second lead syndrome so I got curious and started watching. I am enjoying the show but I really don’t get how people want Dalmi and JP to end up together. His personality is a major turn-off in my opinion. When I think of major second lead syndrome, I think of Seo Kang Joon in Cheese in the Trap or Yoo Yeon Seok in Mr Sunshine/Reply 1994. Plus a lot of people are saying that Kim Seon Ho is really bringing the character of JP to life and stealing viewers’ hearts. Are we all watching the same show?!?! I don’t see that or feel that and I think the younger JP did a better job of getting viewer sympathy than the older one! I feel like Nam Joo Hyuk is doing a really good job of making me root for Dosan!
