I’m finishing my Ep 6 analysis. In the meantime, it’ll be a work-in-progress with password-protection. I’ll remove the password when I’m done. You can read it while waiting for the subs. 🙂
Let’s enjoy the show!
My wishful thinking:
– For the real queen to somehow be back in her own body even if it’s just for a little while and be aware of what BH did in her stead, also because the show is establishing this rivalry between the king and the cousin over the queen.

Actually, I am beginning to feel uneasy that they are continuing with BH in Queen’s body and King’s falling for her. It is already ep. 7. For how long are they gonna let BH resides there? Now that BH is getting back Soo Young’s memories, I am still leaning towards the possibility that Soo Young never actually left her body. Her soul is there but suppressed? The shaman said she was possessed, right? Which means her soul can still be there. And she may even be listening to everything from the moments BH was there. She may not be able to overtake BH maybe because she has already given up living (weak) as opposed to BH’s strong desire to live on (stronger)? Mental note.

Same here, @ miracle23. Same here. I’ll tiptoe out of here when the plot becomes too weird for me. No point in me getting all worked up 🤣 over a convoluted plot.
Kinda like “Alice”….

Eek… so if the Queen is just repressed and latent still in her own body… then we’re looking at a threesome? 😬. Too weird for my brain to wrap around. Best not to go there.

Threesome. 🤢😂😂

We did see the interview that @packmule mentioned in Ep. 1, so we know that Bong Hwan gets back at some point. If he’s partly conscious in his body in the current time, perhaps it makes sense that the queen could return more and more to her body as they both get stronger. But yes, @nrllee, please before any threesome happens. 😱 – and yes, with some inkling of what BH has been up to during that time.
Strange that the detectives now seem to know what the crime was about, but can’t do anything and think that BH is better off in a coma? Why wasn’t Mr Han caught ripping off BH’s oxygen supply and causing him to nearly die? Surely that’s attempted murder.
I’m not too happy with the cousin. I understand that he is in love with her, but when he thinks, ‘She should have been mine!’ and nearly kisses her while she’s unconscious and helpless… There were literally alarm bells ringing while it was happening. I wonder if his father knows quite how much he likes her.
I’m also dreading the day when this show turns too weird for me to handle. About the kiss, I saw people threw a party at this turn of event, but I can’t help but think about poor SoYong. The king and queen shipper call themselves TeamNoTouch.
So SoYong’s father is super-rich? Her house has more bling and flashy stuff than the palace. The queen dowager also keep mentioning getting a gift from SoYong’s father, is that why she was chosen out of all the candidate in Kim’s clan?
Did anyone realize the queen’s voice over changed to SHS’s instead of CJH’s voice before she stated it out herself?
One thing that rolled my eyes in Ep. 7 is the fact that the DQ/ and her team keeps using arsenic as a reason for Queen’s condition. Like🙄🙄🙄🙄 If it was arsenic, she should have showed other symptoms first or vomitted bloooddddddddd 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Just like the previous king. It has to be acute for her to be comatose. And to be acute she has to show other symptoms which is not cheerfully jumping in the kitchen😅. She was healty one minute and comatose next all because of arsenic😅 oooookkkkk. 🤭🤭🤭.
yep, Ella, I realized the first seconds the queen woke up that we lost CJH’s voice.
Oh well, I guess it was bound to happen.
Anyway, I’m thinking that the only way this romance, which the show seems to be going towards, could MAYBE work is if Bong Hwan is SY.
Maybe they’re the same soul?
Although, now that I wrote it down, I’m not that sure if that would be weirder or better than a threesome, lol.
I’m thinking of BH being SY because he doesn’t seem to only share memories with the actual queen but her feelings too, as he has some moments in episode 8 when he feels attracted to the king. The ones I saw is when the king arrives with the flowers and again when the king kick the maid’s suitor. In this second scene he’s mesmerized since he feels the need to throw water on himself, cool himself down, get the queen out of his body, he claims.
Either way it doesn’t compare to Alice. Romance had no business there. Here I think they can make it work, BH/SY and the king are at least not mother/father and son, pft.
@miracle23, I agree about the arsenic. It has particular effects that the physicians would have noticed had that been the cause.
@oli, are you thinking that the queen and Bong Hwan might be the same, as in he is a reincarnation of her and got thrown back to a previous incarnation when he nearly drowned?
@Ella, I’m missing CHJ’s voice already. As she soon as she started thinking I thought, dang.😒
When Byung-in and the King said they would have it out, I was thinking fisticuffs or pistols at dawn, but it was a drinking battle. That was a bit surreal.
And what was that tango sequence?! Was it because she was rather drunk?
And of the two little girls in the flashback, which is the queen and which is the concubine? I didn’t get that bit — seemed a bit disjointed. Was the king trapped there in the well as a child or hidden there?
@Ella, the King knows that the queen’s father is very corrupt. He thought about it when he was looking at a book where the letters were animated to float over the text and form names (I’m guessing because I don’t read that language). His thoughts showed how different court families were defrauding the population, the taxes, even the treasury and diverting money into their own coffers. In this episode, it sounded like the queen’s father got even wealthier since the queen went to the palace.
I seriously was hoping that this drama will be different than the Chinese version, especially with BH and SY is not a same person (because it just feels weird to me if BH suddenly turns gay whatever the reason is 😖🤧). I’m very straight girl and I don’t think I could turned gay even if I could remember a memory of loving a girl. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I really hope that SY will come back to her body… she deserves to be loved (even if it turned out that BH is SY, but it still doesn’t does the real SY justice because I keep thinking they are different person, even my past self is not my present self, I might know my previous self but my previous self doesn’t know me, if you know what I mean🤣) but it seems like it isn’t gonna happening. Especially Korean version also using real characters even if the story is a fictional but it just doesn’t appropriate I think to make it gayish 😕. I somehow was hoping it would be like that movie “the host” where Saoirse Ronan played as Melanie and she’s trapped inside her body with a wanderer from another planet but she somehow managed to get back to her own body. That would be the best…
I currently on hold now I’ll wait for a while until the storyline becomes clear to me. It’s getting weirder for me so if my guts is right that it somehow going gayish I’ll just stop watching for real 😫🙁
I get what you mean, giyominuts.
I haven’t seen Eps 7 & 8. But even if I have already watched then, I still wouldn’t be able to predict the direction that the writer and the director intend to go with the plot. All I know is that they are both hamstrung by the fact that they’re using historical characters in their story.
Although there’s a disclaimer in the beginning of every episode that the story is fictional, the characters Queen Cheorin and King Cheolgeong aren’t fictional. They did exist in the Korean history. Had the writer created an entirely fictional queen and king, like in the Chinese drama, then he has more leeway or artistic freedom to do as he pleases with his characters.
And that’s why *I think* the writer doesn’t have any choice but to eventually return to a gender binary model, that is, a masculine hero and a feminine heroine. The audience, especially the Korean viewers, will oppose any sort of historical revisionism, especially one that would suggest that their Queen Cheorin had a gender mismatch.
I’ll wait and see. The writer may be transitioning so that when BongHwan finally leaves the body, Soyoung is fully cognizant of what BongHwan did while he was occupying her body.
But as nrllee said, this whole “threesome” concept is revolting to many of us here. And also…hilarious in some ways. For instance, if Queen Cheorin has both Soyoung and Bonghwan (who’s a playboy) inside of her, is she having sex with BongHwan when she masturbates? Is she cheating on the King with BongHwan? Or is BongHwan cheating with her? lolol.
Thank you @Fern for the explanation.
Now that BH is getting SY’s memories (through her/his sense of smell) BH look at the King in a different light. I like how BH got SY’s memory of her secret with HJ and when BH saw HJ came into the house, BH knew straight away that HJ was there to stop BH from spilling the beans to the King.
The jury’s still out on whether Mr. Queen will turn into hot mess for me. I noticed that they now put on a disclaimer at the end that all characters, families, dynasties, and incidents in this drama are fictitious. With this they probably will not follow the actual history. And they finished filming already.
Are they done filming Mr Queen already??!! Was it pre-produced?
Did they end up having 20 episodes then?
They just finished filming, so not totally pre-produced. I saw the pics from the last filming yesterday or the day before. It is scheduled for 20 Episodes should end in mid-Feb, also the next drama Vincenzo (Song Joong Ki) that will air after Mr. Queen already starting to release promotion picture.

Ep.8 is the episode of dangerous relationships and with BH in SoYong’s body, the dangerous r/s is with the King falling in love with SoYong. I am very intrigued as to how BH will get back to his real body. Ep.8 ended with the king kissing the queen though I am curious as to how much of it was to make the cousin jealous.
I’m wondering where has the queen’s consciousness gone to? It is as if when she kissed BH in the water, she sucked his soul into body. And hers is suppressed in her body with BH. You know like how in ghost shows the ghost enters the human body to make it do whatever it likes.
The other question is what will trigger BH back to his world? The last time was when he almost died..which means the actual queen’s body will be ‘dead’ unless
1) BH returns to the queen’s body
2) the queen’s soul revives, from wherever it is.
Did anyone find the King’s ‘bellowing’ laughter deliberately fake, or just not it.

Hi all, I think it’s a soul swap. We saw Bong Hwan at the disco eying the men, so we know our queen is in his body. But we know that both have some aspect of their true selves stored in their real bodies. The queen, we see has some restored memory. The question I have is when the souls are sorted out, will the memories of the soul swap time be stored in the corporeal body of BH and the Queen? I’ll answer my own question and that is yes. Using this concept, both characters have room for interesting growth. It would almost make the writer’s life easier. Just saying…
@packmule3
isn’t SY as BH at the disco eyeing men part of BH’s imagination? My interpretation is the queen’s soul somehow suppressed inside her own body while BH is taking over, and she slowly come out of hiding with the memory coming back. Also BH in Ep8 keep trying to exorcist the queen’s soul out of her body because BH decided to stay in Joseon rather than being in a vegetative state in the future.
In Go Princess Go, I presume that it was clear that the playboy is occupying the princess body ala Scarlet Heart so there is no soul swap story thus the playboy fell in love with the king on his own volition.
Yes, Ella.
BongHwan imagined that Soyoung was occupying his body in the modern age and flirting with random men in the nightclubs. He didn’t like that, of course, because he was 100% heterosexual.
What? BongHwan wanted to do an exorcism to get rid of the Queen’s soul in HER own body???!!! He should get out of HER body.
But that makes sense…
In Ep 6, Bonghwan wanted exorcism or a talisman to make SoYoung the runaway soul come back.
But after that shaman ritual, and the Chief of Staff Han’s attempted murder of comatose Bonghwan, BongHwan found himself back in his world in a coma.
He wouldn’t want to return if he was going to be in a coma. He would prefer to stay in Joseon, especially if he had a “no-touch” deal with the King.
But how selfish of him to want Soyoung’s soul out of her own body. Where did he expect Soyoung to go??
I’ll watch Episode 8 tomorrow.
I haven’t watch episode 8 either I’m on dilemma right now lmao. Should I watch it?
And according to spoilers I know that BH indeed trying to shoo-ing SY from his current memory maybe bcs he feels weird having those visions while occupying her body?
But there is still a hope that SY will be back to her body, right? I still can’t accept that SY=BH 🤣 I mean it just doesn’t go with the story well. Its so weirddd I just can’t IDK why people still find it interesting if it goes that way.
Anyway, I kind of agree that in 1st episode BH had an interview after his body swap. And according to episode 7, the current time goes exactly like in joeson. And Korean use real characters, right (though the story isn’t real)? It means that BH doesn’t stay in Joeson for a long time and will be back to current date, Soooo there’s a high chance that they will let SY alive as well when BH finally returned. Because they can’t make her death, right? She live longer than the king in the history they at least should make it relevant to it somehow (just like moon lovers).
SY=BH is fine for me, I like weird things
And I also can understand how it wouldn’t be easy to stay straight if you would share consciousness with someone of a different gender. Something like sense8
Anyyyway, I don’t trust Korean dramas will go that far, especially since they used real historical characters, as you’ve said.
How this could possibly go is if BH gets more and more aware of SY feelings and ends up understanding both her feelings and the king and wanting their happiness and selflessly chooses to return to his vegetative modern day body than to mess with these two people who love each other.
I don’t know..
Oh, and about the excorcism :)))
“BongHwan wanted to do an excorcism to get rid of the Queen’s soul in HER own body???!!”
Well, kinda, but it’s not so serious, it was played as comedy, he just went and sprinkled some water on himself/the queen’s body saying that the queen should get out of him.
It was after he had a brief thirst moment over the King after he kicked someone else to defend the queen.
He was just trying to get rid of his new attraction to a MAN :)))
@oli, that’s how I saw the self-hitting with flowers and recent exorcism bit, too. It was BH trying to retain his psyche which is getting eroded bit by bit by the Queen’s soul coming forth. I think the queen is gaining control. It’s interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing how the writer handles it. 20 episodes, though… Blimey.
@packmule3, I hadn’t considered the self-love aspects, except to think that BH seems the type to investigate it to see what women really feel/like for future reference. 🤭😊😉
SY is waking up, slowly regaining herself via BH. Hence, he is now listening to her voice in his mind, seeing her memories flashed back in front of his eyes, gaining her skills back, feeling her fluttering heart towards the king and pity for him. Meanwhile, BH has effectively established and become member of the pitiful King’s fan club lmao.
So now that we knew HJ’s secret and fact that SY’s dad knew something about it. So, when will BH return? Kekekekekke… He is fun but I need SY to continue from here on. I wanna see her personality. How will she handles HJ. That cousin of hers is so petty with his protectiveness. 🙄
How is it possible that I want to see Cheorin in action more than the guys?? They give me headache 🤣🤣🤣
The idea of “self-love” (hahaha. You’re such a prude, Fern!) had me laughing. And you’re right! As a womanizer, BongHwan is the type to use this as an excuse for “research.”
But yes, the writer knows that:
a. there’s going to be a backlash from the Korean viewers if he messes up with the history especially since he used a queen who actually existed and was Queen Dowager.
b. if they plan to market this kdrama to other Asian countries, there’s also going to be a pushback from governments with censorship. That’s a financial consideration.
So I’m interested to see how the writer navigates this issue. lol.
I was trying to remember a headline about one of the Kardashians, but failed. 😉Masturbate is the correct term, but because it rhymes with intubate, triangulate and acetate it seems technical and one-dimensional (npi) somehow.
: There’s also reprobate, exacerbate and — this one is relevant — celibate. lol.
Yes, the no touching relationship BH wants with the King. 🙂
