New year, new hiatus thread.
The 3rd hiatus thread is here: Hospital Playlist: 3rd Update During the Hiatus It’s now password-protected.
We’re preparing for Season 2. This blog will continue to be a SAFE SPACE for a select group of “Hospital Playlist” viewers called the Flower Gardeners. They have been harassed and vilified on many kdrama forums and social media — and doxed — by a group called Winter Gardeners.
If you’ve seen the fanwars during the showing of “Reply 1988” or “Start Up,” and you were rooting for the Taec the baduk god, or Dosan the uber-geek and knitter, then you know how strident and oppressive the majority view can be. They wish to cancel out those people who do not espouse their views. This blog is determined to protect the minority and to push back against the Winter Gardeners’ “cancel culture.”
New this year is the Protected Post Version.
I’m double-posting for “Hospital Playlist” to protect our posters from being doxed by the Winter Gardeners again. Our posters may reply in the Protected Post without fear of being bullied or stalked online. It’s truly unfortunate that the despicable actions of some Winter Gardeners have forced our members to hide. But by the same token, this unethical behavior of their most toxic members has become synonymous to the fandom. I’m sure there are good people among Winter Gardeners but the reputation of the whole fandom has been tainted by the indefensible action of the few.
I’ll continue to post open (or not-so-open, lol) threads in order to reach out to those people who are not Winter Gardeners and want an alternative perspective.
If you’re not a Flower Gardener, please respect their space and go away in peace.
If you’re a Winter Gardener still lurking here after repeated warnings, I suggest that obtaining professional help for your mental health can make a big difference in your life. No kdrama and no celebrity is worth your self-destructive behavior.
For those newcomers to the blog who want the password for the protected posts, the instructions from @nrllee and @miracle23 are written below. But please be advised that because of the latest spate of harassment from the Winter Gardeners, they aren’t giving out the password to newcomers right now.

Is there a plan to a rewatch HP? I would love to join if there is one. I like the friendship and the music/band that tie them all together (unique but refreshing angle for a medical drama). Daddy long legs and Dr Song Hwa were my favorite characters from the gang. Though I was not actively shipping any couple, I was disappointed that he ended up with other lady doctor. And that the last ep was 12! I did not even know until then that there’s a season 2. I was totally oblivious to the ship wars, too and I don’t read up on kdrama articles. Until Start Up happened.
Hi @Janey. No plans yet. I think some of us have watched it multiple times already 😂. Let’s wait to see if there’s enough interest in the months leading up to premiere.
To be honest @Janey, it leaves a bitter taste to rewatch the series after all that happened. Nrllee was right, we have watched it multiple times during its airing, for research purposes. 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe we will think of something after the S2 trailer is out.😊
Wow, I’m really sorry to hear it was that bad. Virtual hugs to you both. Cheers!
Just started this series and halfway through and liking it so far 🙂
I have been lurking around threads since introduced to CLOY late last year and have enjoyed the in-depth discussions, easter eggs and views from other posters (some were even quite educational IMO!).
It’s saddening to see extreme measures are required due to fan wars (personally find them somewhat childish, but I shall stop here).
K-dramas have certainly had a paradigm shift since I last followed (apologies my last drama before CLOY is during peak of Winter Sonata so had a good laugh at the references there); the reason why I dropped K-dramas altogether was the soap opera storyline and somewhat nonsensical depiction (Full House) and I became disengaged.
Shortly before CLOY I watched “Two weeks” and found that quite good. Liked the performance of the female actress there (Park Ha Sun I think) and then picked another drama of hers- Temptation (funny enough has Choi Ji Woo as main FL). Could not swallow the plot and dropped it halfway, another nonsensical writing and values I simply cannot condone.
I’m gradually starting to understand the massive popularity of K-dramas and have shortlisted a few on the list now.
Apologies for going off tangent, am delighted to hear the news of season 2 for HP and I look forward to reading posts on it in due course.
Posting @sni75’s comment because it got lost somewhere in the Hiatus3 post.
“ sni75 comments:
Yup.
Read somewhere the relationship between drummer and bassist is almost telepathic – the shared ability to listen intently and adjust instantly, to keep aware of each other’s movements, and give each other space while keeping it tight. Tis relationship is crucial in order to have strong groove and solid backbone in a band. Yup, the bassist has to work very closely with the drummer to establish the rhythm. So PG and SW will work very closely in their DLL project. Kkkk
I see this kind of telephathic relationship in SW & PG. Not sure you guys agree with it not.”
@sni75 yes I agree. Remember how they are referred to as “psychic” (on separate occasions?). JWan called JWon psychic and JWon (?) called SHwa psychic. She is so in tune with him that in Ep12 she didn’t even need to hear him voice his thoughts and she said, “I agree”. I wrote an article on the bassist and drummer. And I think @packmule3 has one in the protected section as well.
Finally finished the series yesterday- what a 2-hour marathon! I’m glad I just watched this and hopefully don’t have to wait too long for S2.
So a mini review on my thoughts below based on what had been presented to us in the finale, and some questions as it’s my first exposure to this production team.
This drama reminded me a lot of the HK medical drama Healing Hands (HH I), one of my all-time favourite HK drama during the golden age (it’s really sad and unfortunate their quality has declined so much)- I thought the friendship in HP mirrored HH- a group of doctors from the same hospital that are BFFs, main diff is their hang out place is a pub vs garage for band practise. I’d recommend HH to those who enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie in HP, you’d get the same vibe there.
All the characters are likeable, there isn’t clear antagonists (bar a couple maybe, like Prof Min and the other prof that’s only interested in money) and I almost thought the hospital director would be a corrupted man but was pleasantly surprised politics and medical red tape wasn’t heavily included throughout. I appreciate that the production team depicted slice of life style here, the daily routine/struggles that is relatable based on what I’ve read. Each of our fab 5 are brilliant doctors in their own right so it’s hard to pick a favourite, but I must say JMD/Song Hwa definitely stole my heart!!
Plot wise I felt that some arcs were glossed through a little too quickly: for example, IJ’s divorce, sure they showed that he was shocked and had some deep thoughts when his wife asked for the divorce, but I was surprised that they didn’t expand on it further amongst the gang, the next minute he was back to his bubbly self. Am I missing something here?
On pairings and love lines, I must admit I’m disappointed that Chi Hong didn’t win over SHwa’s heart because I really liked him. On face value, it looks like there’s a past history between IJ and SHwa (particularly when it rains), and I think she probably did like him as she didn’t reject him outright at the end. But as what everyone has pointed out, it seems that SHwa and JWon has this deep mutual understanding that doesn’t need words (I must say I had to re-watch after reading all the analyses done), it’s just done so subtly that it’s easy to gloss through. My question though, is based on JWon’s personality, I just think it doesn’t fit his character to go into a relationship because the other party was actively pursuing him. From snippets shown it’s clear that he has some liking towards her, I just don’t know how they’d change it to SHwa/JWon pairing as it’d be very awkward in the hospital? And personally I feel that it would be out of character for JWon to begin a relationship if deep down he likes SHwa.
I also just discovered the Soompi thread on flower garden and found all the familiar names. Is packmule no longer an active participant there?
@TheWanderer Shin PD doesn’t like dwelling too much on melodrama. That’s why he skimmed over the divorce. You will find that he does that with all his dramas. He doesn’t let the event drag on. It’s not that he’s belittling it because he brings it up when IJ recounts his story to the patient, but he chooses not to dwell. Even the patient stories which are painfully sad – the loss of the baby in utero, the parents saying goodbye to their baby. He will present them as is. In the raw for impact and then move on.
ChiHong was a worthy suitor for SHwa. Until Ep11 (?) happened. Where both he and IJ fought over her like she was property. That sealed it for most of us here that he was unworthy. And both he and IJ kept crossing the line with SHwa when it was clearly unwanted. That may have worked with SHwa when she was 20, when IJ put his arm around SHwa in the shed and she blushed, but it was certainly not welcomed when she’s a 40yo woman who knows her own mind.
Anyway I believe the last few minutes of Ep12 where JWon kisses Jang is a dream/wish sequence. Reasons are –
1. the song choice for the kiss. It is the exact song that played during the opening credits of Reply1988 for Ep17 (which was all about Wishes and Dreams). Why would Shin pick that one of all songs? It was the first thing that stood out to me because it was a very odd choice for a romantic scene? He had a plethora to pick from. Why that one?
2. the fact that he spliced the whole JWon running scene to see Jang in there as well and added her talking about her liking JWon at first sight to IJ. The scene could be construed as totally in the minds of Jang/IJ. We have seen how IJ has had flights of fancy which are not grounded in reality. How he kept referring to ChiHong as his sister’s pick. He is Dr Romantic to the core.
3. It’s out of character. And you are right to say that the kiss seemed came out of the blue. He hardly knew her as a person? He never bothered to take her out for a date to get to know her? Instead, we just get him swooping in for a kiss because she was in a vulnerable state? It doesn’t align with his altruistic nature and the fact that he’s kept everything professional right up to that point?
@nrllee Thanks for elaborating further and the song choice, yet another nuance from Shin PD and I wouldn’t have a clue as haven’t watched the Reply series (will add this to the list). I read there’s references and homages plastered all over the drama back to the Reply series but it’s easy to overlook for those who aren’t familiar with them!
2. I’ll have to go back and re-watch the last episode. I just remember the flashback of JWon rushing to ER to check on Jang with a pretty worried look so assumed that he did care for her/have some feelings for her. But the part where he asked the nurse to take good care of Jang- that did happen didn’t it?
3. But if he wasn’t going to tell Jang, who was JWon referring to when he asked SHwa not to reveal to the rest of the gang of his decision as he wanted to tell “someone” first. Surely he didn’t mean his mom with that tone, and SHwa seemed to know who he referred to. Plus after that she mentioned that “Snow is here” which many took as foreshadowing it’s Jang. Could it be another trick from Shin PD to mislead the audience?
I was wondering what SHwa thought of herself when she was describing the three groups of people- she said JWan and IJ were those that were happy with good food, she probably fall under the same group rather than with JWon? haha
Can’t seem to edit my earlier post so apologies for doubling up- am going through all the throwback videos posted on YT now to see if there are more subtle hints!
@TheWanderer
I have a theory as to who is that first person that JWon wanted to share his decision with. I’ve been procrastinating on writing the theory up, but hopefully sometime next month I will get to write it up and post it here: https://dinosaurridge.tumblr.com/
@thunderaven I get the feeling the person he wants to tell first is Rosa. He wanted to tell her because he knew how stressed she was about him becoming a priest. He kept trying to find the chance but she kept running away (she drove away in the car park). So because of her actions (fate), SHwa ended up being the first to know. Or maybe Ju so he would break the news to his mom. Or left field like the Director because JWon had told him he would be “leaving”. Although if it is the Director, it would possibly be clarifying that he would still be “leaving” but only to SokCho with SHwa for a year. The Director let slip that they have another Pediatric Surgeon in the SokCho branch. So potentially they could do a swap so that the Seoul branch would not be without one when JWon leaves. Or LeeShin could weave in it as “fate” by having the Director already set the stage in motion by offering JWon’s spot to the other Pediatric Surgeon from SokCho leaving the SokCho space empty. And when Jwon tells him of his decision to stay, he would be in a quandary and Jwon would accept the SokCho post to be with SHwa. 😂. But I am waiting with bated breath about your theory. The pink lighter one was gold. 🙂
@thunderaven
I’m liking your eagle eye and posts on your blog/tumblr. Only thing on the special mugs, both JWon and SHwa used the regular day to day mugs in the last episode. Presumably they weren’t drinking her brewed coffee?
@TheWanderer the one key thing that sealed the FlowerGarden endgame for me was the theme song. The one that plays after every episode of HP1. Someone here highlighted to me that in Reply1988 there was an instrumental song used (it’s hidden in the Director’s cut) and it’s actually titled “Flower Garden”.
https://open.spotify.com/track/0eNwF9xHRTnZamEZVxMnsl?si=In6VJt52Rqq-Ge6nfLNAdA
Or here
https://youtu.be/NFgcV9CJWdE
Listen to it and tell me if you hear a distinct similarity between that song and the theme song used in HP episode ending credits. The rhythm section of the song is the same. And coincidentally it’s composed by the same person. That can only mean Shin requested that he use that original instrumental piece as a base to compose the HP theme song. It’s too similar. And it had to be deliberate. No composer I know uses the same beats like that. It would be too constrictive creatively. For Shin to request something like that means it has something to do with where he wants to take us. Otherwise why bother doing that?
Also, Shin revealed in an interview that he had already pre-selected the instruments for every character. It wasn’t the case of “let’s interview our cast and ask them which instruments they already play and settle for that”. This approach would’ve been so much easier for everyone. Less time consuming and less stressful. It was the case that if you were cast as JWon, you had to play drums. If you were cast as SHwa, you play the bass. So the band positions had to mean something in the big scheme of things. The rhythm section in any band has to be “locked in” (band term) for the band to sound good. So similarly, Flower Garden was “locked in” from the start.
So what does that tell you? The rhythm section plays in the background of every band. Flower Garden plays hidden in the background after every episode of S1. It’s steady. It’s a march towards the finale. It’s akin to Shin saying at the end of every episode…wait for it…wait for it…Flower Garden…Flower Garden.
@nrllee thanks for pointing me to the theme song, another cookie crumb there! I was initially confused why SHwa as the bassist isn’t closer to drummer (JWon) as like you said they provide the rhythm to the band. I thought maybe since she’s also the lead vocalist that she’s at the front, and being the only female amongst the boys they felt bad having her in the background lol.
Interestingly there was only one dinner scene where JWon passes over an apron to SHwa and that’s it. All other scenes when they’re dining outside, SHwa doesn’t wear an apron even though JWon does.
Also JWon’s chronic headache… hopefully it doesn’t mean he has terminal brain tumour or something cliche like that! Although might serve to be the next catalyst for FlowerGarden as SHwa’s the neurosurgeon. The HK Drama Healing Hands had this plot line- the female lead (also a doc herself) had AVM and served as the main catalyst for the pair to get together (reverse roles where the guy is the neurosurgeon). S1 ended with her falling into a coma due to complications during surgery. Unfortunately due to schedule conflicts the female lead couldn’t join S2 and they wrote her off (died due to an accident) which made me devastated, so fingers crossed nothing like that here in HP!
What was done so well here is that each of the characters are so endearing… to be honest I think I can make peace either way if it’s IkSong or Flower garden as end game, I might lean more towards Flower Garden but IJ is a good guy himself and will definitely look after SHwa. Don’t they say that couples who are opposite are sometimes better as they compensate the other’s shortcomings and make each other better/grow in that sense?
LeeShin duo sure know how to tease the audience… hopefully they stick to their guns and won’t be swayed too much by viewer’s reactions. I see there’s a huge following of WinterGarden too, I don’t think it’s their style but hoping they wouldn’t change the script just to please the majority of viewers shipping WinterGarden!
@TheWanderer she’s not lead vocal. She wanted to be but in the drama she can’t sing 😂 so it’s IJ who sings most of the time. Only once did we have JWon sing part of a song.
And no to JWon having a brain tumour for real. I think that would be too dramatic. We’ve already had a potential breast cancer scare for SHwa. Shin doesn’t like melodrama. He will give us the raw scenes eg baby dying and parents sobbing but he doesn’t dwell. Like how he dealt with IJ’s divorce. It was clearly traumatic for IJ (when he recounted his experiences with the patient in the same situation) but we don’t witness him wallowing for too long (if at all). Because that would drag the drama down into “melodrama”. He wants to maintain an upbeat hopeful positive vibe on the whole.
As for IkSong, I don’t think Shin has them as endgame. There are too many instances where he made it clear in the script that their core values are different. IJ loves the city life. SHwa prefers the slower quiet life. IJ belittles her camping pleasures. He treated her like property in Ep11 when he “fought” for her with ChiHong. Did you notice how she stopped having lunch one on one with him after that? And how she decided to head to SokCho? ChiHong and IJ basically confessed their feelings in front of her whole NS department at the team dinner. It made her position in the hospital untenable. It was degrading for a woman in her position to be treated like that in public. Rumours would be flying around. So she headed to SokCho to get away from all that. With the excuse that she had to fix her neck issues. Did you notice how quiet IJ was when she told all of them? If I were him I would feel guilty. He took it too far that night with ChiHong. He wasn’t thinking about SHwa’s feelings at all. He was too busy trying to deflect the challenges thrown at him by ChiHong. IJ is a barrel of laughs – I will give him that much. But he’s a man child. SHwa is after a real man. A man of character. She fell hard for JWon when she realized he was Daddy Long Legs. Her eyes were opened. And she fell in love.
hellooooo!! i’ve been inactive on forums a while because of work ( and also bc my email hasn’t been notifying me of this blog’s updates? curse you email! ) but recently my mother has been watching hospital playlist so i had to check back to our posts here for me to truly appreciate it again. i was surprised to see that the posts were now password protected, but it’s also important for us to have a safe space for this. i’ve been missing the show a lot lately and missed all the intelligent bitching (lol) we’ve done here haha i’ll email soon! :’) hope everyone’s been doing well!!
Hey @mayuu. Welcome back!! 😂. We need to ready ourselves for Round2 come April.
Hey there, Im looking forward to Hospital Playlist 2 and want to have a better appreciation of the drama before it starts as well as be in a like-minded community. I am team Flower Garden because of the parallels and chemistry found between them. It is unspoken yet so comforting. Hope to gain access so that I can catch up and understand Season 1 a little more before watching Season 2. Hope to be accepted into this community.
Hi Eunice. Welcome to BoD. 🙂 I hope you had fun reading our tumblr posts. I believe many of us have gained better insights of our FG post-HP. We revisit all episodes and saw all these interesting parallels. Hope to see you in our future discussions. Cheers!
Hello fellow FG, I was shook that the 3rd update was protected already 😭… But, anyways, I just posted on love struck in the city and, unlike before I wanted to be active on this site.
So yeah , for HP and Lovestruck I’ll try to post my thoughts
Looking forward to read you too, Hyacinth! ^^
Have you watched the recent BTS of Hospital Playlist? I am so smitten with junwan and iksun ❤❤ … I really hope we’ll see how they interact to each other when they were young ❤
So I rewatched episode 1 and, I just noticed that the year jeongwon learned to smoke was 1999 which, is also the year she met songhwa
Hmm… I am thinking, what if the reason why her mother taught him to smoke is because she noticed the sadness in jeongwon but, of course she doesn’t know why and of course jeongwon won’t tell
But the reason behind those is because he found out that seokhyeong likes songhwa and, thus he needs to choose between friendship and love and, since he’s open to being a priest he just let it go!! And give way to seokhyeong but unfortunately seokhyeong got rejected
Now, when seokhyeong was devasted because of rejection, he of course asked jeongwon but since he’s kindof heartbroken by the fact that seokhyeong likes songhwa … he made up a reason not to accompany him leaving ikjun his choice … as we know of course junwan has his own business 😂😂😂 so he doesn’t bother asking him
Now on ep6 songhwa texted ikjun regarding there meeting, and I believe the reason why she does that is because she will tell ikjun that she doesn’t like him.. I mean knowing how pricky ikjun can be and how a psychic songhwa is, she of course will notice that ikjun is flirting
But why it doesn’t materialize? it is because she likes somebody else … maybe at that time not jeongwon or maybe she really doesn’t like someone … but I do believe that at some point she realized that he has a feelis for jeongwon but, it is too late because jeongwon sort of dedicated his life to priesthood
Sorry for typos!! I am typing this at around 12:22am hahaha
Thanks, Hyacinth. 🙂
@Hyacinth yes that’s a possibility, That JWon figured out SHyeong liked SHwa so he stepped aside to give his friend a chance at it. Hence his despondency and picking up the smokes care of his mom (I wonder about that. What mom teaches her son to smoke? 🤔). And your scenario as to why SHyeong ended up talking it out to IJ and not JWon is plausible. That SHyeong tried to get JWon first and when that failed, he turned to IJ. But I still find it odd. IJ is the one who is the most likely to tease SHyeong about it? If JWon knew about the confession, his reaction during the funeral scene when SHyeong blurted out his rejection would also need explanation? Did he pretend NOT to know about SHyeong’s confession to protect his friend? He didn’t look at SHyeong when that question was posed. In fact I think he looked at IJ? So did he know or suspect that IJ was going to confess to SHwa with the ring? It was IJ who directed his gaze at SHyeong which resulted in the confession about the past rejection. See? Even in the present time, IJ is still playing the imp. He knew about the confession and his gaze prompted SHyeong to take the fall. If you think about it, he was also in the same boat back then? He liked SHwa too? But he didn’t follow through with his confession. Instead, poor SHyeong took one for the team. And saved everyone else from the embarrassment of being outed.
And yes I think there is a case for SHwa and JWon being each other’s first loves (as mentioned in their character descriptions). But due to misunderstandings or timing, the planets have just never quite aligned for them. It’s clear though that by the end of S1, all these prohibitions have been cast aside and it would appear that Fate is bringing them back together. That’s a big thing in the LeeShin world view. That you can have the best of intentions but if you’re not fated to be together, it’s not going to happen for you. They did touch on agency in R88 where your choices can also determine your “fate” to a certain extent. But there are elements that they throw in religiously in their dramas to seal it. Elements that are outside of your control – opportunities presented to you where your choices determine your “fate”. First snow is one. Chance encounters. Marriage proposals mentioned in jest 😂. I think a lot of us here believe SokCho is where it will happen. SHwa mentioned it in her wish to spend a year there? To live a quiet life? In a country hospital? SokCho was also mentioned in JWon’s talk with the director when Jwon told him he was going to leave. And his brother kept talking about waiting a year in Ep1 before leaving the medical profession? One year in SokCho. Fate (in LeeShin’s playbook) is bringing them (FG) together. None of the other characters have these elements woven into their character arcs.
Hi thanks @nrllee for that… For me I think junwan is the only one who doesn’t know anything
Remember… on ep6, it was revealed that Ikjun knew about SH confession’s also, but having said that, I have another scene because of what you’ve said (sorry if I am having too much theories hahaha 😂😂)
I maybe wrong, maybe it’s the other way round… maybe it was ikjun … he (jwon) knew that ikjun is flirting songhwa… and yeah maybe, seokhyeong invited them (jwon and ikjun) to drink but, of course he didn’t come leaving ikjun and seokhyeong because, I still find it weird why he doesn’t invite jeongwon which he knew since childhood
Or unless he intentionally left out jeongwon because, seokhyeong found about jeongwon’s feeling so inshort … jeongwon knew about Ikjun’s feeling to songhwa and IkJun knew that seokhyeong has a feeling for songhwa and, seokhyeong knew that jeongwon has a feeling for songhwa
Hahaha I don’t know if I am correct… but then, I will try to rewatch HP to gear up for season 2
@Hyacinth yes lots of possible permutations about who knew what and how it all transpired.
The other possibility is that SHwa actually blurted out that she likes JWon when she rejected SHyeong. Which would then explain why SHyeong didn’t feel like calling JWon to pour out his sorrows to. Because it would be too painful to tell him about his rejection because he knew SHwa actually liked him (JWon).
Which is why I get the feeling the bulk of S2 will be the stories that fill in these blanks for us…meaning it will be set in their med school/resident days. That’s why the actor playing ChiHong isn’t returning for S2. If we are moving forward chronologically, he should be in the cast. Because he’s now chief resident in YulJe according to the time line. There may be some forward and backward moving between the present and past but the majority of it would be in the past. So we would still have the band because they formed back then (and we know the story of how they got together). It would also explain why PD Shin has been so terribly secretive about it. If it were just a continuation of where we left off in S1, there would be no need to keep everything under such tight wraps.
The biggest question in my mind is if he will wrap the series up with 2 seasons or go for a 3rd. He mentioned 2 seasons in the official script reading. That was the initial aim. To get to at least 2. It’s a big ask to have to go for a 3rd. Given the whole COVID uncertainties and the fact that it does tie the cast down for 6 months every year. Now that everyone has experienced what it’s (the seasonal format) like, do they want to go for a 3rd season? If not, then we will see resolution at the end of this season. And LeeShin may condense what they had planned into 1 season (S2) rather than 2 (S2&3).
Watched the Seckhies MV. The 4 guys can actually represent the 4 male leads in
But is Song Hwa the winter girl or the rose?
And why is there a foreboding for death?
You kidding me, right? 🙄
Jang actress was the Winter Girl in the music video. If you watched Director Nah’s explanation to the Sechskies, then you SHOULD know that the yellow rose placed at the foot of the tree at the end of the music video signified that the Winter Girl died. That tree is her memorial tree (a tree that’s dedicated to someone who is deceased). Hence, the title and lyrics of the song.
No trace of Songhwa and JWon was found in the music video. But Ikjun was there. How about that? 😂
This has already been analyzed by nrllee on the Protected Version of this thread.
If I were a WG, I would be displeased with this video…. But hey! The actress got exposure so everything’s good. Right? 👍🏻
My post on “10 Ways to Kill a Character” should be an entertaining read.— whoops! Sorry. It’s not open to the public. WGers frequent this site and they wouldn’t get a parody even if it were to dance buck-naked in front of them.
Hi and Happy Chinese New Year… honestly, I kind of vomited because she was in the MV but on the other side of the coin, she died so, yeah it was still not a benefit for WG and, yeah, I think PD shin just chose her because they are current filming HP and actually I felt that eunjin was already filming cause if we are going to based it on the cliff hanger, it should continue with seokhyeong and junwan…
So yah, that’s the possibility why she was chosen so TBH, it has nothing to do with WG hahaha
But I am really curious about the 10 ways to kill a character as I have said on my email for password request, I am really a silent reader of this blog since ep1 of HP,
I am really looking for characters description since, its kind of confusing at first… I thought on ep1 they’re on the same hospital good thing, I crossed upon this blog and, I was really amazed on how you sew all the clues for Flower Garden cause honestly, WG were so fast and I am kind of confuse how it happened … cause we haven’t seen Jwon had a change of heart except on ep12 which is the most frustrating episode … and as I came across the dream write up … I was amazed that yeah, it could really be a dream … even the song choice doesn’t fit and, even confession is not flashy doesn’t fit hahha I watched confession is not flashy (original) and it was about camera… jeongwon and songhwa are the only one who has a connection with camera
So yeah… I believe it was a dream and that FG will still be the ending
So @packmule3 thanks for creating this blog
Happy Chinese New Year to you, too, Hyacinth.
I just don’t get the point of that newbie posting here on my blog when she must have read that this blog is safe space for the FGers. The SongHwa actress wasn’t even in the MV, the Jang actress was. So why bother bring Songhwa up? To fuel fanwars? Tsk tsk tsk. Not nice. That newbie was doing a disservice to her Jang actress by not crediting her for the work.
I agree with and, as if we care about that, and, true its disservice to the actress… so yeah!
I just finished episode 12 and I’m in a bit of a daze. I definitely need to go back through and watch them all again (I would love the aid of BoD posts and commentary) in order to really “get” the timeline and pick up on things I overlooked.
I mainly enjoyed this drama for it’s slice of life feel. There was really no couple I felt swoony for the romance of. (not dissimilar to my feelings on Start-up. It was fine, but I wasn’t tuning in for romance or melodrama, just interesting to get a glimpse into the tech world. In case you’re wondering about my ‘team’, I don’t understand how people didn’t see DoSan was the end game from the very beginning 🤷🏼♀️)
Thoughts off the top of my head:
JWan was my favorite character-probably because he was most fleshed out. I hope IS doesn’t break his heart.
I really think SW is wonderful. What would we say is her major flaw?? Honestly, I didn’t get any romantic feelings from her toward any male in this season, maybe there’ll be someone new in the next season??? I just really hope she doesn’t end up with either C or IJ.
Actually, I thought IJ might be better suited with Jang…although I’m not sure how she would do in the step mom role. I’d love to see her interact with his child it Might be very endearing.
I didn’t feel strongly about Jang as a character but I certainly don’t see the romance between she and JW working out. Do they even know each other??? I hate when every interaction they show onscreen is just uncomfortable and then we get a ‘romantic kiss’?! I think whiplash is the best way I can describe my feeling.
SS and the call from his ex wife certainly piqued my interest. I loved the OB storylines and I was surprised at how Mh grew on me. I liked the ramen scene. I hate how he’s her still teacher though. Definitely more enjoyable in fiction land.
Now JW. I’ll say it. I just don’t get him. I need more. Why does the whole family have to be priests and nuns, why can’t they just be religious and attend mass? Why does it have to be all or nothing. There are so many ways to serve God, why isn’t it a no brainer to think “I have special, God given, life saving abilities and I should use them to glorify him”??
I wish he and Jang had more in common or more actual interaction so I could actually board their ‘ship’ but I just don’t see it. At this point, I’m definitely not anti-flower garden because at least there’s still a chance that I can feel swoony over them in the upcoming seasons. Winter garden=not swoony.
@birdie007 that’s a good start. The key to watching with this PD-Writer pairing is to stay neutral and pick out clues (logically via the script) and look for overarching themes.
You are right when you say that kiss in Ep12 makes little sense in the whole story line. Unless you go with the repressed 40yo virgin who can’t control his desires and decides to take advantage of the first woman who is vulnerable and offers herself to him? How did that make you feel? Icky? It’s supposed to. Because it paints JWon in a terrible light? All his altruistic endeavors with Daddy Long Legs is snuffed out? He’s no longer Mr Nice Guy? Instead he’s Mr Sleaze? Does that sit well with you?
And you’re not wrong about IJ and Jang. Just like SHyeong and his resident MinHa, they’ve had a whole lot more interactions. They’ve both come out to bat for their residents yeah? IJ turned up and showed genuine concern when Jang had that disciplinary hearing. SHyeong
and MinHa shared heart to hearts and have an understanding. And yes the big question mark over the IJ-Jang match up would be how she copes as a mom. Going by how insensitive she was to the mom at ER which earnt her a lecture from JWon, do you think she’ll do? Even though she did improve with her bedside manner, is it enough for her to be a suitable mom to cute UJu?
So we come back to the kiss. How do we circumnavigate that? If I suggested that it could be a wish/dream sequence would it make sense? That it happened in the head of IJ? Or Jang? Why else would the PD splice the scene where IJ is asking Jang if she fell in love with Jwon “at first sight”? Right after the kiss. It’s the stuff of fairy tales yeah? Think Disney Princesses of old. Her Prince shows up who hardly knows any details about her background, home life, her likes and dislikes and kisses her? Jang is called the Princess in the GS department yeah? See the links?

I will be slowly opening the files up again (the ones I have written) leading up to S2. WGrs can do what they want with it.
Aw, most of the posts are already protected. It’s only here I get allies in my Flower Garden views. Too bad. Having to type PWs is a bit of a chore for me because I can’t even remember my PWs nor the emails I use. LOL. Anyway, came back here because I saw some pics from S2 being shared in Twitter and couldn’t find any posts about my Flower Garden.
yeaah im flower garden shipper too. may there is hint abount flower garden when bts airing in youtube
Yes keutin, the bts today ended with snippets from their current practise sessions. I think there is a misunderstanding on your pwd concern, keutin. Email us and we will clarify. 🙂

I just binged reply 88 after seeing all the comparisons to hospital playlist. I really loved it. So, so glad I knew who she’d end up marrying going into it so I was able to avoid the angst and just enjoy looking for clues from the writer. Since I had already spoiled myself, my only complaint is how the present day husband seemed to purposefully act like JH and then towards the end showed obvious T mannerisms. It just felt a little mean 😉
Comparison wise, I feel like I need to rewatch both with my critical thinking cap on in order to add to any discussion.
Purely superficially, I really love the bob haircuts of
both DS and SW.
One reply 1988 question: I remember DS saying she didn’t like her name and obviously the fortune teller part but did they ever explain what the meaning of her name is? After so much winter flower etc…now I wondering if I missed a clue from her name.
I heard that a member of our FG family was accused of misogyny in another site.
I posted my opinion on this matter in the protected HP thread, but I’m reposting it out here, with minor edits, so I’m clear on this issue.
***************
It
screamsappears to me that people like to throw the “misogyny” word around like it’s some sort of holy water to cast out the demon spirits in other posters they don’t like. 😂 They should know that the word loses its potency when it’s invoked incorrectly in arguments.Harrumph. How about starting with the basics, and focusing on opinions instead of kisses?
Like this:
Let’s not tell a grown woman how SHE should or should think about a FICTIONAL character in a drama.
Let’s not shame, censure, harass, bully and dox a grown woman for expressing an opinion different from the mainstream.
Let’s not brand a grown woman a “misogynist” for exhorting women who use their brains and admiring female characters who follow their brains instead of their hormones, repressed infatuation, and teenage angst?
Note the relevant point there. It’s okay to condemn, castigate, or lambaste a FICTIONAL character in an analysis, but not a real person.
Just three words to debunk these arguments: DISPARITY OF POWER. No matter how many kdramas titillate viewers with boss-secretary romance, we should always remember that a supervisor-subordinate relationship is inherently problematic. To ignore this #truth is to live in this fantasy, delusional, kdrama bubble.
Here are the key points for those who need to wake up:
1. The relationship starts off as consensual but there’s a big risk that the subordinate will claim harassment once the relationship ends.
For example, Jang can claim that JW moved in on her first. HE kissed her; he surprised her; she had no choice but to acquiesce.
2. Coworkers will protest about favoritism.
Didn’t Ikjun stalk out of the room because he was furious that Jang was playing favorites and chose to assist in JW’s surgery?
3. The subordinate will subject herself to workplace gossip that she slept her way to the top. (Btw, we’re not sexist here. The same is true for male subordinates although the effects of the gossip on their reputation may be different.)
JWon is the son of the founder. Jang exposes herself to being ridiculed as a gold digger. Didn’t Jang’s coworkers already wonder if she was into Ikjun? She can brazen it out if she wants.
4. They broke the cardinal rule (pun intended) in workplace ethics. A worker in your DIRECT chain of command is off-limits. Look: it isn’t a good idea (or in good taste) to date someone in your department. What more someone who has a direct say over your job review, promotion, and career path? 🤦♀️
JW is her boss. What now? Keep this affair secret? Will he be able to maintain authority over her especially in times when she flies off the handle, loses her temper or behaves rashly? Or will she ask for a girlfriend exemption?
And I can go on and on. But what’s the point when people are entrenched in their mindset?
So, next time someone starts crying “Misogynist!” think whether this is just a ploy to shut up a person she doesn’t like or to CANCEL an idea antithetical to her own.
Hello Bod,
I am new here and I enjoying all posts about Reply1988 (my most favorite drama and I watched it multiple times whenever I felt down).
Now I am hooked with Hospital Playlist. I like all casts and I never thought of any ship among Flower-Garden before. A month ago I watched the casts practicing for Canon and I also watched some other behind the scenes about PD and Writer choosing main casts. So I just learned that the PD is the same person of Replies series and Prison Playbook haha.
So I am now thinking about FG possibilities. But I only got to read few posts. I would like to know more about it and ask for the access <3 <3 <3.
Hello! I’m not new here but I am *kind of* a silent reader. I remember, after watching the new Thursday episode release, I immediately go to this blog to see what’re everyone’s insights about FG. I think I commented once in a thread but after that I just became a silent reader. I tried tweeting about Flower Garden on twitter a few episodes in and tried to search for FGers on twitter but there weren’t much (plus, those who are FGers, got attacked or shaded). I then searched for any FG theories and that is how I stumbled upon this site. I’m thankful for this blog because it serves as some kind of solace in this WGcentric HP world. I would love to have access to the password restricted threads. Thank you!
New article I wrote. Going over old stuff but adding some new thoughts. On Ep10. Confession is not flashy was sung. Ep10 is the ep that signaled a change in the FG dynamic. The critics that kept going on about how they never had any “couple” moments were suddenly inundated with an overload… 😂. Christmas came all at once for us.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AAPz-7DOaf7HYnb8eJ9ApaI_yz-HDQQDgvD3zl4Mab4/
And it’s also the episode where the end of episode jingle was released as the OST. Beyond the Rainbow Forest. Which has the Flower Garden instrumental riff (from Reply 1988) playing 😂 in the background.
Hi! Sharing to you … my thoughts and theories and, hope you’ll like it

I saw this amazing thread in Twitter of Flower Garden analysis of scenes, complete with pictures and videos. I really love everything she wrote and it made me rewatch HP last week to see all those she wrote. I bookmarked it but then, a few days later, the Twitter account is suspended. TT I wish I had taken a screenshot of all her tweets and videos. If anyone here has a copy of it, can you post in Tumblr or anywhere that the rest of us Flowergardeners can see?
Hi, I am new but want to say kudos to the FG folks. I didn’t know about this site but secretly I guess I was one while watching this show. I didn’t really get the end of ep. 12.
Anyone watch hospital playlist camping? There is a really funny scene when YYS misunderstands and thinks JKH is asking who JongWon loves. His answer supports ep. 12 but I thought it didn’t really make sense. You can watch subbed to English version on youtube on Na Pd’s site. It is keeping me going while waiting for this show to come back.
@Miri yeah. Didn’t make sense did it? 😂. For JWon to reveal his “true feelings” as Jang in that game? Because that’s what the story is telling us after that kiss in Ep12. That JWon was repressed. He ducked and avoided her even when she tried to ask him out for a date. He lied to her about being free that weekend. He could’ve done the honorable thing and gone out for a date with her if he liked her since the allergy incident? But no. He opted to hold it all in. And then release the floodgates of desire in Ep12 with that kiss. Ewww… if that is the JWon we will see in S2, then Jang can keep him. No more Mr Nice Guy. He’s a predator who seeks to satisfy his own self indulgence. Even if he were to go on nice dates after and finally get to know the real Jang in S2, what does that say about him? Why did he have to wait for her to grovel before he made his move? IJ made it clear to him (and so did Jang) that she was interested? Maybe he’s a “try before I buy type” of guy? I need to make sure she’s into the physical (and doesn’t resist) before I invest time in getting to know her? 🤮 He’s a guy who disrespects women then. Didn’t make any effort to get to know the mind of the woman before he laid hands on her body. I wouldn’t let him anywhere near my daughter.
Which begs the question, why then did YeonSeok yell her name out? When he thought KyungHo was asking about JWon’s “self interest”/“true feelings”? Imagine what would’ve happened had he yelled out SHwa? Actually I know what would’ve happened. Shin would’ve edited it out. 😂 Don’t you find it odd that they always partner KyungHo with YS in these games? And MiDo with JS? It’s business as usual. They are tasked only to reveal what is obvious in S1. And currently the state of play is WG and IkSong. That’s what everyone (bar us) thinks. Shin has got the vast majority exactly where he wants them to be. The big reveal will cause such a furore that I am betting many will go back to rewatch scenes just to find out how they got it so wrong. Or talk about how they got it wrong for weeks/months after. People still talk about JungHwan (Reply1988) now. 😂. It’s etched so deep in their hearts that they can’t forget. And guess what? They’ll be back again for another round in his next drama offering. Why? Because they can’t believe that they would be stupid enough to fall for it again. So they get back on the wagon and give the game another go. Shin is a 😈 troll. He loves it. Just from the SechSkies MV alone and the BTS about how it came about, it’s plainly obvious for everyone to see. Frankly I think he got bored doing Prison Playbook because it lacked the trolling element. So he’s back to his roots now. With devilish glee.
Also, SHB made it obvious that Shin asked her to do the MV “as a favor”. Which implies she’s not contracted? Why would it be a favor? It’s promoting HP and specifically her character Gyeoul? It’s filmed at YulJe? Of course it’s promoting HP? Wise Camping Life (also filmed in YulJe) is not done as a favor? What’s the difference? It can only be classed as “a favor” if she’s no longer in the production of HP and she’s focused on her new drama where she is FL. That’s my guess anyway 😂
I am wondering if Shin will release script reading pics of some teaser on 1April. 😂. I find it odd that he didn’t stretch out the Wise Camping Life footage longer and instead increased the frequency so it ends next week. I am guessing it means we will get promos soon. Posters, script reading pics etc.
@nrllee Exactly, did he go from the saint/buddha all throughtout the showand then turn to a neanthethal in a moment? It was so weird. Making her suffer seemed so out of character. Granted, it was confusing from the moment that Songhwa said winter is here. (I confess though I thought Songwha should be with JongWan during the entire first season; and Winter should, well, just grow up.)
Also a great point about the pairings in the games. I thought Na PD was trolling the audience with the pairs. I just rewatched the youtube segment, focusing on Shin PD and strangely he seemed tense and covered his mouth during the whole exchange, starting with “dating” and “true feelings.”
I hope we get promos soon. I hope season 2 is actually the backstory from med school days more than going forward in time, but I will be excited to see whatever comes from this cast with Shin PD.
@Miri I get the feeling S2 will be the end of HP. Even though it was touted to be 3 seasons. I think COVID and the reality of how seasons play out for the director (Shin was flat out busy with no rest – he said so in his letter when he revealed Wise Life Camping) and cast (clashing schedules, desire to move on to new projects), they may have pulled the plug on S3 and just decided to wrap up HP in 2 seasons. If that’s the case, then with the end of S2, Shin will finally get the break he (and his family) have wanted.
As for why SHwa said winter is here, it’s because it started to snow then. First snow for Seoul in 2019 happened on Dec 3. We looked it up 😂. Which is the date that JWon told SHwa about him not wanting to be a priest anymore. First snow is one of those sacrosanct tropes that Korean drama writers use as indicators that the couple who are together at that time stay together. LeeShin have used it routinely in all their Reply series.
@nrllee hi, I think it also, that it is only for 2seasons as far as I concern YYS has a new series lined up after this, and, I think Mido also.
So with that … I must say that its only for 2seasons and, It is okay
@ Miri,
There’s a post “the first snowfall” that talked about this. It’s set to private now so only FG can read it but I might repost parts of it out here in the open.
I’ll see. It takes time to transfer the pics and I’m up to my eyeballs in work at the moment.
One thing that I do find interesting about this camping life segments is getting to see director’s mind. Example: the mafia game. The group suspected the JWan actor of being a mafia right away.
But the director suggested that they should “torture” him and keep him alive for the moment. They could always kill him later.
😂 That remark afforded us an insight into his personality. He goes for delayed gratification.
And he likes playing a mind game where he can twist — or milk the situation to his advantage. He’s tightening the screw (i.e., “torturing”) because it’s entertaining to watch somebody squirm in misery (e.g., JWan actor). He’ll let the JWan actor live because he’s a “safety” (or a sure thing).
Also, in that first Mafia game, attention should be paid on how the YYS and Mido interacted. If I were the writer, there’s a lot of material I could glean from there. For examples, I could work on:
1. Their trust: they trusted each other. And shook hands to seal the deal.
2. The handshake: watch how YYS grabbed her hand closer to his body. Usually when you handshake, the two hands stay in the middle, midway between the bodies. If you pull the other hand closer to you, you’re showing more eagerness.
3. Mido’s comment that she got hurt a lot when she formed alliances
4. Their height differences: this is a trope, I know. But height really does matter in kdrama. Visually, there’s something about appealing about Mido’s smallness beside YYS’ tallness. They say that opposites attract, and here we have proof: their opposite height is visually attractive.
5. YYS’ childishness: he really is like his character JW. He was protesting IJ the actor’s (sorry can’t keep up with their names) interference in the game.
6. Mido’s laughter: The production team didn’t have to put in a laugh track bec Mido laughed all the time.
7. Mido toned down YYS’ complaints. After they shook hands, he knew that they were on the same team.
8. Their seat arrangements. From left to right: JWan, IJ, Mido, SH, YYS, and the Director. The Director had a good view on all of them, and how they interacted. Although there are four male actors here, YYS is his “lead” actor. They take his cues from him.
9. IJ the actor was eliminated right away and he was still yapping on the side. Lol.
That’s it for now. Let me continue watching the mafia game, hopefully onetime tonight. I was just skimming through the episodes.
Hi Keutin, I think I knew the account you mentioned there. She joined us sometime last year after she finished HP. We are checking at the moment. We hope she is doing fine.
@packmule3 yes to getting insights into PD Shin’s mind and also the mindset of the cast. YYS is altruistic to the core. He’s always about the other person. You see it in how he planned the whole trip, makes sure he brings everything that everyone else needs. And I believe in last night’s segment (to be confirmed because I watched it raw), he gives up his sleeping bag for KyungHo who said he was freezing because his wasn’t warm enough. Whilst the others slept, he got up and busied himself cleaning up outside and doing all the background stuff by himself. Shin would be doing him a huge disservice by having Jwon lose that altruistic side of him for the sake of lustful desires over a girl?
When I went to translate what YS thought KH was saying in that game when he shouted out GU’s name? He thought KH was saying the word 사심 which translates as “self indulgence”/“self interest”. The English subbers translated it as his “true feelings”. YS thought KH wanted him to talk about JWon’s selfish indulgence. Which equated to GU. Even YS could see that his act of kissing her in Ep12 was self indulgent. It was selfish. That’s why it doesn’t fit his character reveal in S1. JWon has never been selfish. SHwa said it when she talked about eating and different people. JWon has his greatest happiness seeing others eat well. He’s altruistic to the core. He wouldn’t be kissing Jang in that last segment.
Hello Crazy Jane Miranda. Replying to you here. Please don’t forget to credit your sources. Copyright laws. PS And do please get the source right too, it wasn’t me who posted the list above…it was our QueenBee Packmule3. 😂. Doesn’t say much about your credibility to actually read properly to call out the wrong person.
As for who recommended MiDo, it was BOTH JJS and YYS. YS said so in the first meet up at script reading. He recommended her over drinks with Shin. And MiDo acknowledged that it was through his recommendation that made Shin take action. Here are the screenshots for your future reference 🙂

Happy April 1st … I just want to share that I have a hunch that tonight … there will be a teaser for S2 and, my heart is preparing for it big time!!!

@nrllee
Agree. With this one! I wonder why he doesn’t ask her out?
Also I noticed in the last episode of WCL, before the Hospital Playlist ++ season 2 “title poster” the transition song was andrea song.
Which screams FG!
I will be linking also here the google document… hopefull1y,I could Insert a video for reference
Looking at YYS handling the mafia game, it fits my earlier thought that ShinLee can’t never bluff with him. They would have to lay it all out to YYS from the very beginning on PG and his story, whatever comes with it. YYS is the master mafia himself. He stays as the very good citizen till the very end. Our good guy indeed.
Hi everyone, I am new and normally a silent reader because english is not my first language so pardon my grammar here and there. The first time I started to notice “something” going on about FG was episode 11 karaoke scene, when both of them seating together in the sofa (ikjun on the other side) and it just reminded me of Reply 88 scene when Sunwoo was actually looking at Bora laughing instead of DS in the flashback later on. But then I didn’t really think much of it and just enjoy the drama. I was intrigued after watching the BTS and HP goes camping. . Luckily I found your soompi forum. Finally I found my “group” that share the same mind. Thank you all. Looking forward to season 2.
Welcome to Bitches, Letta.
We’re having “Throwback Thursdays” series where I’ll be re-posting some of the old posts. Then we’ll Rewatch session beginning next month.
I highly encourage people to join in the discussions on this Hiatus Open Thread AND in the upcoming “Throwback Thursdays” because I’m planning to have a “members only” rewatch session. The FG people are still being harassed online by the Winter Gardeners who lurk on this thread and soompi. 😡 I want our group to be at ease when posting, without the Jang fans spewing hate on the FGrs and doxxing them online because FG’s opinions don’t line up with theirs.
😂 I don’t see any difference between them and the crazy knetizens who want to cancel everything they disagree with. Toxicity has no boundaries, and no scruples, unfortunately.
Please don’t let your English inhibit you from posting on this blog. English is my only language and I still make errors everyday.
I’ll have more details up on the rewatch by tonight.
Thank you for the warm welcome @packmule3
Those kind of WG shippers need to take a chill pill and just enjoy their “winning” for now. Don’t bother others that can’t and won’t ever relate with that kind of so called romantic act portrait by Jang Character.
Welcome @Letta. See you on Throwback Thursday posts. 🙂
@nrllee See youu
Reasons I’m convinced that Jeong-won & Song Hwa are the end game can be noticed in subtle hints- which are the trademark of this writer. Most people won’t notice them, but only BOD disciples do. For one, Song Hwa’s singing. All three guys are quite annoyed at her horrible singing except Jeong-won, who somehow finds it cute everytime Song Hwa sings off-key. And those two guys (Ik-jun & Seok-hyeong) have expressed admiration to her, which is a contradictory behaviour to what their feelings tell them.
Second, Jeong-won possessed the characters of the writer’s male lead – kind, modest, unassuming, thoughtful & mindful. He’s always the one who has ready stuff in his bag for what the gang might need – napkin, relief pathches, etc. But if one has to go deeper, maybe he’s doing all these primarily for Song Hwa, who suffers constant back pain due to herniated disc. Next, Jeong-won considers Song Hwa his utmost confidante. She was the first to know of his plan to leave the hospital and it was she who he entrusted with on his Daddy-Longlegs program. One might say that she was the obvious choice to head the program as she was the lone girl in the group. But we can also see it this way, hers and Jeong-won’s core values are perfectly in sync. They are both selfless when it comes to extending those in need that they oftentimes forget their own.
And lastly, which I think is the most important. His still-unknown feelings might be the cloak the writer used as the reason to enter priesthood. It might be argued that this “calling” is only the tip of the iceberg on his real intentions to keep his real feelings for Song Hwa pure. Thus, his plan for priesthood is just a pretext so that his intentions for not being interested in women and the whole dating thing would not be the subject of the gang’s teasing. He wanted his love to remain pure. The other guys were shown to like Song Hwa, but no one can say they intended it to remain pure. Seok-hyeong was the first to reveal. But after being rejected and having moved on, went to marry and got divorced later. Ik-jun had for a long time liked Song Hwa too, but he too got married and divorced. Who knows Jun-wan also liked Song Hwa in the early years, we might get to know this in the next season. But he too, had several relationships and he’s with Ik-sun now. See, not one of these three guys persevered and waited. Only one did. That’s why I believe this whole priesthood thing is just a veil from the writer to let the viewers throw off the racks and be distracted. But we’re in it for the long haul.
(Note: this is my updated comment from my first post. I failed to include the first paragraph of my first comment. My bad..)
First of all, I have been a silent fan of BOD for quite some time since this blog became my go-to site on brilliant reviews & analyses from Reply 1988 and recently Start-Up. I just couldn’t believe I stumbled into a goldmine of accurate description/theories of Kdrama series that I likened them into getting a crash course on storytelling/scriptwriting from Packmule3’s on-point analysis, together with the regular commenters’ own. I consider this site as my haven. If this comment takes up much space, my apology. This is my first time to comment because it is my intention to be among fellow FG’s who would be given access to. Which I consider to be a great privilege.

But after being rejected and having moved on, went to marry and got divorced later. Ik-jun had for a long time liked Song Hwa too, but he too got married and divorced. Who knows Jun-wan also liked Song Hwa in the early years, we might get to know this in the next season. But he, too, had several relationships and he’s with Ik-sun now. See, not one of these three guys persevered and waited. Only one did. That’s why I believe this whole priesthood thing is just a veil from the writer to let the viewers throw off the racks and be distracted. But we’re in it for the long haul.
Hi everyone,
I am new here. I accidentally stumbled upon this when I was looking for information about Hospital Playlist couples. I really love HP as much as Reply 1988 (the only kdrama that I watched the last 10 years). I really love Deok-Sun in R1988 and now I really really love Song Hwa. I think they are the best female characters ever. Long story short, after watching HP, I had a feeling that something “mysterious” / going on under radar between Song Hwa and Jeong-Won which is not yet revealed. It feels like the writer used the same loveline pattern as Reply1988 (i was team taek). So while looking for clue about my suspicion, I ended up here. It feels great to read comments that add up to my conclusion about SH – JW. I re-watched last episode, and I really don’t like the way IkJun cornered SH (before going to his seminar) when he told her that he likes her and that he asked her to think about it. SH is a strong independent woman, and what IkJun did is far from romantic. IMO, it feels like an insult to corner her like that. That’s my random rant. It feels good to say it.
Welcome @BulmaGoku. Packmule will be releasing copies of the protected S1 articles piecemeal as we lead up to S2 premiere. Looking forward to seeing your comments in those articles (and the ones already released). There’s a reason to why the reply wasn’t forthcoming. Think about it. If you already harbored a liking for a particular person, wouldn’t you jump at the opportunity to say yes? If the night at his home was his first confession and the incident in SokCho was his second, why would she hesitate? I have a different opinion about that scene actually. I think IJ was asking SHwa about Jang. He wanted dating advice about Jang (that’s why Shin played Vivaldi’s Winter in the background as IJ was walking towards SHwa’s office – there’s no other reason for it). Like the others were when they lined up outside her office. But she had palmed him off (refusing to have lunch with him). And the only way he could get to talk to her was to show up in SokCho.
Same here @RougeLips, there was something going on about those two. There was something else bedides being the rhythm section of the band. You can sense a strong albeit subtle connection throughout S1, always there like the bass continuum in canon.
Then again, what’s going on with IJ and Vivaldi? Vivaldi’s 4 seasons are a musical calendar of sorts. Who was the appointed human calendar? Dr. Jang.I agree with you there, @Nrllee, however I really think that IJ was at Sokcho for SHwa.
@Ori it was specifically Winter (Vivaldi) that was played. Alluding to Jang being on IJ’s mind as he walked towards SHwa’s office. Vivaldi (Winter) was coincidentally played as background music in this scene in R88. When JeongHwan’s mom was recounting how she met her husband. It was a chance meeting. Unexpected. Just like Romantic Winter.

And did you not wonder why IJ seemed so vague about his confession in SokCho? If it was SHwa he was alluding to as the object of his affection, wouldn’t that be a coward’s way to confess? What would YOU do? I want to check how you feel first before I go all in? 😂. He wanted to hear her answer first before he took the plunge? I know IkSong sympathisers are all about how he’s been hurt before (divorce) so he’s scared to take the plunge…but hey, confession is not flashy. It’s fraught with risk. Better to be courageous like SH with his confession than to tiptoe around like Jang did with JWon? So I still feel that because there have been so many hints dropped about Romantic Winter that he could possibly be asking SHwa’s advice about Jang. For IJ, an hour is a LONG time so when he says this person is someone he’s known for a long time, it could well be Jang. Jury is out but LeeShin have taken great pains to include the Princess story which lines up perfectly with Romantic Winter…right from Ep1. We’ll see how they choose to end their story.
Thanks for the link @Nrlle!I loved R88!
Yes, the chance meeting, the name and then the subway station scene was also with Vivaldi’s music. For me too many little things to be just a coincidence. The subway, winter and Vivaldi all point to Dr.Jang. Romantic winter, indeed.
Honestly, I’d rather have the SH like confession and yes I wonder why IJ was so vague.
As you said, IJ has not patience, unlike us FG, so for him 6 months is a really long time. Let’s see what s2 brings for PG and SHwa while enjoying the journey.
@Orie, right?? Subtle connection. Only JW-SH have this that not those other guys have. It’s like this unspoken bond that only they can have. If one is not familiar with the writer’s style, you tend to just dismiss them at once. But no, there were subtle hints from the start. Can’t wait for S2.
Yes the subtle connection is alluding to the bass and drums. The series is called a Playlist for a reason. And it’s been there from the start. In the background. Just like the rhythm section of any band. In the background. So for those who keep saying that FG doesn’t exist, because it’s not overt like the couples in the Reply series, it’s because of the band metaphor.
Vivaldi was a Roman Catholic priest. 🤣. He worked in an orphanage with children. He was connected with an aspiring young singer who was his protege. But their relationship was purely professional and he never had a romantic relationship with her. Sound familiar? 😂
Yes, spot on @nrllee. As @packmule3 always points out, the writer always has the knack for using metaphor. In Reply88, she used Baduk as the metaphor for the storyline. Taec’s presence could be barely felt until almost halfway, but the hints were there from the very start. I guess this goes too with HP, using the band as the metaphor – drums & bass, just how JW & SH have a rythmn in their own little bubble. But since the creators of HP had their eyes on multiple seasons, they had to throw in as many tangles as they can before it’s revealed to us eventually… fingers crossed.🤞🏻
I just saw this new trailer on YT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieeVkelSqA8
@angelwingssf isn’t that the same one that @miracle23 posted in the HP Poster thread? I think that’s where the bulk of the promotional posts have been.
@nrllee – I did not see hers. Some of the posts from HP are still not accessible to me. It happens more often these days. So, I posted it when I saw it somewhere else. There is nothing about HP2 in the trailer. Just saw that IJ and SH walking, and PG looking passionately in one of the scenes. WG are already making plans even on YT.
@angelsingssf are they? Like mini WG babies? 😂. I think we need to get ready for WW3 when the pendulum swings over to FG. I just found another clue for FG. I will see if I have time to write it up. 🙂. I keep stumbling on more and more when I rewatch scenes and read up my notes.
@angelwingssf if you’re having problems accessing the password protected pages, it’s likely a cache problem. Try another browser. Like Chrome. And use an incognito tab to read BoD pages. I find that it works then to bypass the cache problem.
@angelwingssf, the HP poster thread is not password protected. I think you need to clear cache and history then try again with the pwd for the old protected threads. Hope this helps😉 Email us if you have any trouble again. We will help where we can.😊
Hello again,
Whoahhh I was off for a few days, and I am already have a lot of to read and to catch up.
Well I am here again because something is really bugging me. The kissing scene in the final. Maybe it is already mentioned somewhere here, and I hope I am not spamming this comments section by bringing it up again.
The kissing scene supposed to be romantic, isn’t it ? But why the tears ? Why the sad tone ? The framing of the scene was cold.
My guess is that tears related to Jwon’s sensitive nature. As SHwa said, Jwon is the kind of guy who likes to seeing other people enjoy their food = likes to see people happy.
So seeing Jang in tears, telling him that she likes him and asked him to stay, evoked his sensitif side and made him realize how hard it is for Jang to carry that feeling and it was brave of her to tell him that. Thus, the kissing … in tears. It feels like he was sorry for her.
Maybe, he will try to reciprocate that in the next season. Many WGers believe that kissing is sealed the deal. But WG should be worry about the tears. I should be worried if I was Jang. Or am I just a biased fan ? Maybe. But yeah, It ain’t over till the fat lady sings. I will fenced this garden no matter how small the possibility of the wild rose to grow in it.
Anyway, maybe it was already mentioned somewhere here as well about the song that played during that sad kissing scene. Is anyone could tell me where I can find the lyrics in english ? Thanks in advance and Best regards.
@BulmaGoku I think it’s a dream/wish sequence. I broke it down here

And here

@BulmaGoku, yes the kiss can either happen for real or a fantasy. Either way PG’s not saying a word and his double sighs are glaring indication that something is up.
I won’t put my trust in that scene. I am more intrigued on Shwa. What she will do next because the answer of who is the main pairing will always lie with the FL. I want to see if ShinLee are really going to give a nutcase to PG as a consolation prize, a pitiful thing for him to sympathise over for the rest of his life.🤷♀️ Their call. 12 more episodes… anything can happen. If Shwa, Ikjun and Jwan can have a break up/ divorce in the span of 1 to 3 episodes without reconciling back with their exes, you can be sure breakups are nothing to Shinlee. They can just blink an eye and make it happens without any remorse. 😎
@nrllee thank you for these files. This is excellent. Oh, it reminds me of that beautiful yin-yang kiss.
For HP, They do have a strange editing style, cutting several scenes into pieces and overlapping it on top of another, either with a scene, sound or music. So we really need to laser focus to map it. Honestly, I only watched Reply1988 before and HP is my second series. It is challenging and intriguing to watch and I love the way they do it.
@miracle23 what is PG? I am sorry I am not really familiar with abbreviation yet.
It’s true, in the end, it all depends on SHwa. And I can say, she is the most relax when she was with Jwon. She is always a bit uncomfortable with IkJun, she is mostly in competitive mode specially with food with Jwan and Shwa drew a bold line since very early with SH.
And Jwon, since the Mafia Game, I had a feeling that he has all his friends card in his hands. Can’t wait for the 2nd season. In the meantime, I will start to read all your comments. Best regards
@BulmaGoku,
PG = Pabo Guy and Psychic Guy = JW
🙂
@packmule3 ach so. thank you.
@miracle23 @nrllee in PD Shin and writer LWJ I trust. SHwa will choose the best man. BTW I remember there was a song called Introduced Me To A Good Person, but I don’t know from which episode, I need to check it later. But based the lyrics in English is like this :
…Someone who can love me sincerely
I hope he is someone who’s mature and faithful…
…I hope for someone who gives attention to even a little matter
and have a lot of experiences in love…
I re-watched episode 7 in Dr. Bong’s session about 99ers lovestory in the past. According to him, “SHwa was in a longterm relationship. She dated a senior for 3 to 4 years and she dated other guys after that too. She just doesn’t want to get married”
And the lyric of that song is more or less the same as JWon’s mother opinion about SHwa.
I don’t know if this makes any sense. If BoD members have discusse or have dissecting this song, would you kindly shared it with me ?
Best wishes
@BulmaGoku, the song has been reviewed by PM3 here:
https://bitchesoverdramas.com/2021/04/29/throwback-thursday-hp-ep-2-the-songs/
Additionally, the lyric talked about leaning on a shoulder of a guy with soft hands. Well, Shwa leaned on PG’s shoulder and PG was seen randomly applying a hand lotion, all in EP. 10. Tips: Remember the lyrics and look out for the hints in the random scenes throughout the episodes. This writer picked songs that are relevant to the story of her characters. So, all songs matters but to whom and on what occasion? That, we as viewers will have to figure out ourselves. ^^
The main OST for S1 is The Wind is Blowing and the main cover is PG. That is his song. He was the only one operating in a high temperature room when the song was introduced. He is the guy who brings warmth as the song implied. This song originally has two versions, one sang by Lee Sora and another by Park Hyo Shin. The version taken as HP OST was Park’s song but sang by Lee Sora. ^^ Take a look at the lyric and the motivation for the song here:
“The new song “The Wind Is Blowing” will portray one of the many aspects of love that Park Hyo Shin wants to present to the public through the campaign “Lovers 2019” – the male artist’s 20th-anniversary project. The song will be released on digital music sites at 6 pm (KST) March 10.
Park Hyo Shin’s “The Wind Is Blowing” is a picture of love drawn through the “Lovers 2019” campaign with the aim of seeking true love and a beautiful tomorrow. The song marks a special collaboration of Park Sung Yeon – Korea’s first-generation jazz vocal and Park Hyo Shin – Korea’s top talented vocal. Accordingly, the song will bring warm feelings beyond the boundaries of generations and time to audiences.
“The Wind Is Blowing” contains the lovers’ hope to look at each other’s eyes, hold hands and stay together for a long time, thereby showing a warm affection for each other regardless of space and time. Carrying within different stories of the time, the vocal imbued with jazz’s element of seasoned artist Park Sung Yeon along with the multi-emotional vocal of Park Hyo Shin will merge into one and bring out special vibrations.”
Cr. parkhyoshinplanet.wordpress.com
Points to note:
1. It was released in 2019
2. To seek true love and a beautiful tomorrow
3. To bring warm feelings beyond the boundaries of generations and time
4. Lovers’ hope to look at each other’s eyes, hold hands and stay together for a long time, thereby showing a warm affection for each other regardless of space and time.
The only possible long lasting relationship I can see is what Shwa x PG have at the moment. Not Ikjun. Not idiot fangirl.
@miracle23 encore daebak. Thank you for the link. SOmetimes I click and it asks for passwords, so I didn’t notice this one. Indeed that’s the song that I remember. Introduced me to A good person. Don’t you think it is applicable for SHwa to JWon? because Shwa was dating several times and JWon/Andrea (according to Dr. Bong) never date.
I guess I was very late to join this thread. I just finished HP S1 a week ago, so i am still very excited about it. I am sure and certain you’ve dissecting all aspects. I will read them all carefully from now on.
“Not Ikjun. Not idiot fangirl.”
Knock on wood. In PD Shin and LWJ I trust. If SHwa ends up with IkJun, oh what a waste. and JWon with Jang, then Jwon is a real pabo
