    Thanks again @pkml3. You’re certainly gif-happy!!

  2. Another really fun post about this entertaining show! I am watching 18 again (really enjoying it) and there is a scene where the ML is carrying the umbrella to protect his young twin daughter and son. He says: “You can tell the size of a person’s love when it’s raining. Even if you use an umbrella together, you can clearly see the size of a person’s love by looking at the slope of it.”
I think this is a beautiful articulation of the umbrella trope.

  3. *oops I meant the above comment about umbrellas to be in the Episode 8 highlights post! Oh well!

  4. Thank you for the gifs galore, @packmule 3. I liked the quotes sculpture and kudos to the director and location specialist for the use. “🍪❤️” from me.

@Janey wonders as I do, if Dam will find herself liking rather than loving Fox. Meanwhile Tiger Sun-woo continues to strengthen emotionally. For now he has been friend-zoned and Fox has been Ahjussi/stranger zoned by Dam. She is back to where she was at the beginning in terms of a relationship, but for her persistent memories.

I look forward to the leads taking their ideas out of a thought bubble and into a speech bubble.

  5. I only see 3 comments now- did the rest disappear?

  6. @packmule3, sorry. I meant my post, which has appeared nowhere, to be on the episode 8 highlights as well. Please could you delete my 3 comments post?

  7. Found your comment! It was in the spam box. Weird.

👍 I like that thought, @Fern. They should convert their thought bubbles into speech bubbles. 😂

I still want to know why Dam said Fox wasn’t her type.

  8. 😂 No worries, @Good Twin. I can transfer your comment to the other thread later.

  9. 😂 Will do, @Fern.

  10. Not her type, eh? I would like to know as well. Was she simply flustered or being glib? Was he just an unfamiliar type, so it seemed unrealistic? It seemed to me that she began to appreciate him more since then, increasingly right up to when he bluntly retrieved the marble. Do you remember her thougts when he was watering the plants with a rainbow of spray? I appreciated him just then. But then I’m shallow that way. Man doing chores. That sort of thing.

  11. You know what, Fern, I found her brother cooking breakfast for her odd, too. Has he always done that? Or is this something Mr Fox “programmed” or hypnotized his brother to do? To become more responsible for Dam?

  12. Hello everyone!

I really want to watch Mr. Fox and Dam tonight, after DAYS’ episode 14.
    I need some laughter…

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@pkml3 I found Dam’s brother pretty cool. The first time we saw him, he was cooking and she was following him around in the house. It’s not clear if he was cooking for both of them or only for himself.

The next time, we saw that the house was crawling with his friends, however now that Dam is back, we notice that everything is in good condition and there’s no mess. He did have that little meeting with Fox after which he forgot stuff. And he has a healthy attachment to his mum.

  14. So the brother really did the housework even before Fox 🦊 showed up?

👍 Good! So far all the male characters around Dam are non-toxic then. Even her Sunbae at that class counsel meeting was kind. He watched out for her.

  15. Comparing this brother to the FL’s brother on DAYS, I would say that he is the more mature of the two from the beginning, although younger. He has focus with his sport and school aspirations and is responsible and protective of his sister’s best interests.

  16. Yes, I like how the brother is drawn more with consistency. He’s like a brother coming to defend his only sister and inviting his bros at home when sis moved out. And the dialogues were funny too. He and JJ totally misunderstood Fox’s intention but the scenario was understandable. And I like that freeze-frame. The Director did well. They looked like “Avengers” but at junior varsity level. 😂

The DAYS brother is a caricature; he’s a hodge-podge of everything annoying. It wasn’t believable how his character could have changed like that. And supporting his sister on as the wages of wait-staff in a coffee shop? Yeah, good luck with that.

But maybe it’s the acting, too?

  17. The DAYS brother grew on me and I think by the last episode his acting improved as well, but the characters are different. He is definitely a late bloomer but I think that he has found his calling and a mentor for the business he likes, so there’s hope for him.

Ha, yes his wages. I think the DAYS brother had been saving part of them for years, but still a pittance, as she notes when she returned his passbook. The MRIAG brother is probably still supported by his mother, which would be necessary because his sport would be expensive. I am waiting for him and Mr Fox to have an archery shoot-out with or without Joseon-style bows.

  18. I’m waiting for Dam’s brother to meet Tiger Sunbae’s sister. That should be funny.

I laughed when Tiger Sunbae said he’d “swear on his credit card” not to harm her and the sister came out with her curling iron. That was me with my brothers. 😂

  19. I really like Tiger. I know not everyone needs a love line, but I do hope he finds someone. Obvs dam will end up with fox, so I’m not thinking anything will happen there. Dam also shut him down as soon as he told her his feelings which I appreciate.

I think writer must have fun sibling relationship IRL in order to portray these so funnily/accurately.

Fox is incredibly good looking, but I can’t help but find him flat—-even worse than SH in true beauty who was mimicking (I hope that’s his excuse) the webtoon. I’m also wondering what falls into “young” for a 999 year old. Anything 700 and under? Do you use the half+7 rule?? So 505 and under is off limits?? And it’s nothing against the actor, I really loved (his acting) in My Ahjussi

  20. @birdie007, I haven’t heard of the half+7 rule. That’s hilarious. I’ve only heard of the 5 year rule for women as regards to younger men. Things have changed since I was dating it seems. The thing is, Mr Fox is stuck at a particular age, 30 something, although he acts like someone from an earlier generation, right?

  21. @Birdie007, Tiger has gotten a really interesting character arc. From taking everything granted and not valuing anything to understand that life is not as easy as he thought, that he has to work hard to get what he wants, that results sometimes does not correlate to the effort he has put in, and that actions have consequences.

At the beginning someone asked if could be Tiger the malevolent gumiho perpetrating all those supernatural killings… and I responded that from a script economy it would be possible, but it would be more interesting if he was just a regular but conceited boy that was heading to the heartbreak that will mature him into a proper person.

Another meaning of being a person in Korean Dramas is the ability to take responsibility and to act in society as a upstanding and responsible person, so it is interesting that while falling in love and in misunderstandings our dear Mr. Fox has started to show humanity as he finally understands all these clues as an insider, therefore enabling him to take proper actions based on the proper facts.

Still falling in love and in misunderstandings 😉

  22. @birdie – LOL 😂 everyone is going to be younger than Fox unless it’s another gumiho turned human. If age gap is a non starter for this old-fashioned gentleman, he’s not gonna get anywhere.

@Fern – maybe we should convert that 5 years to 5 centuries so 500? 😉

  23. @Janey, he still fails. 😆

    Spoilers:

Wow, am I the only one who feels like the goal posts have been moved? Where did this Gumiho appetite thing come from and why wasn’t it an issue before? Did having the marble prevent it? Why would Mr Fox not have learned about it?

Now after that kiss, they have to switch to platonic zone? How then will he get the marble to turn blue?

Who was the mystery student – was it Mountain deity? He, and the music, definitely felt threatening. Mr Fox said that he might be punished just after he made up with Dam.

I loved Jae-jin and Hye-sun. She is so unprepared for his kindness, affection and lack of pretence.

Recently drunk Jae-jn to Dan, ‘Don’t be so critical of me. You’ll be exactly like me once you go to college.’
Tidy and studious Dan to Jae-jin, ‘My gosh, why are you cursing me?’

We get some background on Hye-Sun. All of her loves were painful. One of her lovers died, but we don’t know how. Was the marble or the ‘appetite’ to blame?

  24. @Fern, same questions too, about the appetite. I guess the writers constantly need to introduce new obstacles since the last issue (taking out the Marble + memory thing ) has already been resolved.

I guess the marble was an appetite-suppresant; maybe it has some sort of protective effect on its human host. Other humans without the marble are fair game to a fox.

And can I just say how endearing and wholesome Jae-Jin is? When Hye-Yun mentioned his ex-girlfriend in relation to his putting his jacket on her, Jae-Jin didn’t get the implication. Which just re-confirms that his kindness is truly pure and well, non-calculative. It is not some “move” on a beautiful woman. They’re adorable, and I hope their arc continues to be adorably developed.

And the date scene, especially the Elsa comment had LOL.

  25. Hello everyone,
I enjoy the 9th episode so far.. but same with @Fern and @pandamilktea, I’m confused with this “appetite” issue. Did I miss this from the previous episodes? But I think yeah the writer planned to give us the problems one by one instead of pouring all of them at once.

I also had a bad feeling with Dam’s encounter with the new student. Was it because of the backsound and her expression.. I don’t think he is the mountain spirit though..

Wanna make a little note on Dam and Mr Fox make up scene. After clearing the misunderstandings, it’s fresh for me to see Mr Fox hand kissing Dam and vice versa. I almost never seen this gesture in the latest dramas or movies.

Regarding JJ-Hyesun, I’m glad that we finally saw Hyesun’s low point in her life. And right when Hyesun is crying remembering the little part of them, JJ come to her and somehow comforted her. It’s a progress of their relationship!

@packmule3, same with you,, since I saw the relationship chart of the cast and there is potential love line between Dan and tiger’s sister I have been waiting for it. It’s almost eps 10 and I’m curious on their encounter.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Janey LOL Dam considers Orishien looks young for the date, like he’s only 800 years old LOLOL.

@pandamilktea That Elsa reference had me in stitches too!

@moonstar512 I feel that we need to document the new relationship trajectory between Orishien and Dam. It’s gonna be bumpy since we have 6-7 episodes more to go!

Show will need to introduce a couple more new hurdles and hoops to jump over or through respectively, and a solution for that stubborn marble. I guess, with Dam’s full knowledge and cooperation now, there should really be no more obstacles to getting that marble blue… just kiss the girl Fox and date her!!! What are you waiting for?

Yes, yes … show had to throw in the appetite issue to put a damper on this (I’d like the BTS of that deep kiss scene. Heh!) but I still think it could work. Let her have the marble and date her with 1 metre distancing LOL.

  27. @Fern – totally! Goal posts moved! Hyesun is encouraging him and then after the kiss we see a flashback of her warning him about awakening his appetite for human energy and that he would be walking a fine line that would be difficult to manage. This just turned into a gumiho version of Twilight! It appears that there is a new menacing presence following Dam as well. Loved the interactions between JJ and Hye-sun. These actors both seem like they are having so much fun in these roles. The moment when JJ fell off the swing was funny. I wonder if that was scripted? From the looks on the actors’ faces it may have been an accident. As @GB said, this episode is serving up the conflict to be resolved to bring this towards a conclusion.

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Good Twin The same thought crossed my mind … I think that JJ’s slip off the swing was a real accident but since the actors continued as if it was nothing, they kept it for the scene. We need to see the BTS for that as well!!! LOL, if they had burst out laughing, it would have been edited out, probably, but they looked so natural about it, that we got to see it.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I found last week’s BTS. This was hilarious.

  30. Kalimera everyone!

I really enjoyed episode 8! It made me laugh when I so I needed it!

This appetite thing reminded me as well, “A Discovery of Witches” and Matthew Clairmont’s saying..

    https://tv-fanatic-res.cloudinary.com/iu/s–DCf_LJEy–/t_full/cs_srgb,f_auto,fl_strip_profile.lossy,q_auto:420/v1555291052/im-craving-her-a-discovery-of-witches-s1e2.gif

He has to tell her and discuss about it, from the preview we get to see that Hye Sun does!
    *winks*

  31. P.S. Every predator in any series, e.g. Twilight, A Discovery of Witches, craves their love interest. So, it it not that bizarre for me…

  32. @Cleopatra 😍 Mathew Goode! I think “crave” is a much better term than “appetite” for what happened at the end of episode 9.

  33. @GoodTwin,

I love #ADOW trilogy so very much!
Yes, Mattthew Goode as Matthew De Clairmont! is rawr!

That’s why I uploaded that gif, because the term “crave / craving” is way more accurate than appetite! It also pays homage to these very known series!

  34. Hey friends, honestly been ages since I commented on a post. I think it’s because I haven’t been in sync with what the BoD community has been watching for a while. Came to join the HP convo and glad to see discussion on something else I’m watching!

So everyone else feels like the appetite thing is random and not that we didn’t notice it from previous episodes. It’s giving major Twilight book 1 vibes and I don’t like that 😂

In regards to other gumiho dramas, I’ve only seen my girlfriend is a gumiho and tale of the nine tailed. I know that gumiho eat the liver/heart of humans. Previous dramas have made it seem like the bad gumihos eat humans and those who wanted to become human themselves had to learn to resist the urge.

I think I’m also surprised because surely someone like Shin Woo Yeo would have mastered resisting the temptation or is it like Hye Sun said, the more he falls for her the more tempting she becomes? Again with the Twilight vibes 😂 Let see how the next few episode will deal with it.

I just want to say that I laughed all throughout the date. He seemed so proud of himself that he got a date inspiration from a 15yo drama That’s exactly what a person out of touch with the young generation would do 😂

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

It’s interesting that Hye Sun can sense something wrong behind closed doors! She’s kept quite a bit of her gumiho senses.

    That was one scary kiss!!!

Dam is always afraid that he’d get the wrong impression. She explains what she means when she says goodbye and now when she wants him to stop.

  36. I thought Dam’s girl friend wanted to be close to Fox because of his look. Apparently she just wanna be on his good side. She’s just so consistent when it comes to her grades lol.

Do you think Fox used his power to make the wind blow Dam’s papers? If he did then so far he has used almost all kind of elements to get Dam’s attention: water, wind, ice/snow … at this point he might as well be the next Avatar 😂

  37. My comments on Episode 9 are on the MRIAG rewatch thread.

@Janey, although there is a big chronological age gap between Fox and Dam, when it comes to human experience there isn’t a big gap between them. Since he met Dam, Fox is doing many things for the first time. Although his liplock with Dam wasn’t his first kiss, as it was for her, it WAS his first kiss with feeling, emotion, passion.

Dam tapped out of the kiss like a wrestler tapping out when painfully pinned. She tapped Fox’s chest with her hand, and he immediately released her. That’s to his credit. I think it a bit funny that he’s so worried about hungering for Dam, then is scandalized when Hye Sun suggests it might be something as basic as sexual desire.

When Dam brings Fox to the arcade for a date, I think it funny how lackadaisical Dam was handling the gun, while Fox was going all Special Forces with it. He was a warrior in the past, after all…

Another funny detail: When Dam was texting Fox about their skinship misunderstanding, behind her (but prominent) is seen a street warning sign depicting a car tumbling off a cliff. Dam uses an idiom relating to driving as she texts: “I’m willing to races (sic) at your speed on the highway or wherever else.” Message to viewers: DANGER! You’re gonna speed your way into a big fall!”

@GB, I agree that Dam appears to have retained some supernatural senses after carrying the Marble.

I am confused by Mountain Spirit’s watching Dam, then intervening by tying her with a red string of fate to Tiger Sunbae. Why would he warn Fox that he needs to hurry up and become human, then make it more difficult for him? Once a red string of fate has been tied between two people, can it be broken? Does the red string of fate always refer to life partners, or are there other ways two can be fated to be connected without necessarily ending up married? My first impression of Mountain Spirit’s action was that he was using reverse psychology, and jealousy, to get Fox moving ahead with Dam and turning the Marble blue.

Too bad Fox is currently serving as a professor at the university. I’d think that spending a day hugging lots of different people might have boosted his energy. But a professor hugging lots of students, even if for charity, would be creepy and inappropriate. Maybe he could’ve shaped shifted into a more appropriate human form for the task.

And speaking of shape shifting, I was caught by surprise when Fox shape shifted into JJ’s form so he could meet with Dam, who was avoiding him. I did notice in that scene JJ looked and behaved more suave than usual. Kudos to actor Kim Do Wan for making the difference in character so apparent.

I thought it cute that Hye Sun’s cheeks turned red when JJ stroked her hair with his hand and said “Good job!” because she read, and learned from, the book he gave her. Does she still have canine-like reactions, basking in praise like a dog would when patted on the head? Sir did say to Mountain Spirit that foxes and dogs are related.

  38. @Welmaris, I expected Hye-Sun to bat his hand away. Instead, just as you wrote, she stayed still and then blushed.

I’m a bit confused by the marble now. It’s out of Dam but she’s losing energy compared to when it was within her. It’s in Fox, but he is losing energy as well, although he said the marble was gaining energy (from him?). He won’t share the marble with another woman, so he and Dam need to find a way to energise it.

As to the string of fate, thanks for your take on it. If the mountain deity isn’t using reverse psychology then he’s just sadistic. I did like how the scene was planned when Dam tries to leave drunken Tiger but can’t. It was well done.

  39. @Welmaris I’ve seen this string of fate in another drama, Korean Odyssey I believe it was 🤔 And it’s usually romantic but can also tie people together if they are just destined to be great friends e.t.c. The western equivalent is the concept of “soul mates, tied souls”…

I think the general belief is that the thread cannot be broken, even by death so if one of the party dies the other will follow soon. I tried to find the episode in KO that touched on it but couldn’t so my recollection may not be 100% accurate. In KO one of the two people tied together died and the family of partner B wanted to have a ghost marriage with someone else. The point was that the replacement would die instead of their child. As to how to break the string when both parties are alive, not sure. But I think that shouldn’t be too much of a problem here, I have a feeling mountain god wants Mr Fox to win whatever challenge he’s thrown down and will cut the string himself.

I feel sorry for Sun Woo, he’s getting caught up in whatever game the mountain god is playing with Mr Fox (and Dam). I don’t have second lead syndrome but I’m really enjoying watching him and I appreciate his visuals. It’s going to be sad seeing him develop deeper feelings for Dam and her for him too only for it to all blow away when Mr Fox beats mountain god. Hopefully that’s sooner rather than later.

The fortune teller saying Mr Fox is like a big tree and Dam like the Earth reminds me of when you have a plant in a pot too small for it. The plant drains all the nutrient from the soil and after a while both the plant and soil suffer; the soil shrinks, the roots of the plant can’t grow and the plant can topple over. All together a bad fit.

Lol did anyone realise when Jae Jin is asking her who her boyfriend is, he lists “Ki Yong” as one of the options. I thought that was funny how they snuck in Mr Fox’s real name.

@Fern I think the marble turning blue in Dam the first time Mr Fox tried to remove it, is in some way linked to this energy drain even though I’m not sure how. There’s a scene where Mr Fox was talking to Hye Sun about what has been happening and she said something like “the marble rolled into her [Dam] like she’s the rightful owner and then glowed blue when you tried to remove it”. I remember thinking that part ‘rightful owner’ was unusual. Why would Dam be considered the rightful owner?

This actually reminds me of what I questioned when I first started the drama, how could the marble roll into Dam so easily. In “my girlfriend is a gumiho”, Shin Min Ah’s character said the marble is given by the fox to the human. This rings true of every other gumiho/human interactions I’ve seen in this drama and others. But in the case of Lee Dam it appears the marble moved/acted of its own will rather than Mr Fox’s.

  40. @Esst3, perhaps the mountain deity has more say in the marble’s whereabouts and powers than it just being something to be gather human energy. It’s puzzling to me but maybe there’s some logic to it?

I’ll have to rewatch the fortune teller bit. It could be that we’re not getting the best sense of the words in the subs. My RL logic would say that the earth could support a big tree or that the earth was a primary object and could survive without the tree but not visa-versa because the earth existed before trees.
However, in this drama scene the fortune teller seemed to warn Dam away from Fox – the tree seeming dangerous and overwhelming, as you wrote. It made me think of symbiotic relationships in nature that range from mutual benefit to parasitic or destructive.

  41. hello everyone. I just finished watching the episode 10.
So the new guy is mountain spirit, hmm.. But why do I think that he’s giving me a bad vibe.. Previously he said that he wouldn’t disrupt the order, he would stopped there and he won’t protect Dam anymore. Now, he suddenly showed up in disguise and he even said to Dam that he’s been watching her. (seriously if he is a human, he’s kinda creepy there)
What is the reason of him watching Dam now? Is there something special about Dam that attract him to “Watching her”. I’m also starting to wonder what kind of power that he have. Shifting. Disappearing. And he could playing cupid too..

@GB, I’m with you regarding to document Dam-Mr.Fox new relationship trajectory. After we have the appetite/craving issue from Mr Fox and now we have this red string between Tiger Sunbae and Dam. Sure their roads will be bumpy.. What else would stand between them..

@Esst3, How are you? I hope you’re healthy always.. thank you for bringing up the Twilight vibe. And when JJ mentioned KiYong in guessing Dam’s boyfriend (hahaha). And about Dam referred to the rightful owner might linked to our discussion in the previous thread about the possibility that Dam’s ancestors linked to Gumiho too.. Well, whatever it is, I think that it might link to my question above regarding the motive of Mountain Spirit watching Dam. Maybe Dam is indeed special.

JJ-Hyesun scenes as always making me laugh or smile. I didn’t expect that JJ would throw the guys who teased Hyesun like that, saying that he was in Judo team.. And Hyesun remembering the idioms. She’s a fast learner. She even using the idioms toward JJ. hahaa.. jarhaessoo Hyesun-aah.

  42. I think in this drama, the fox craves energy. That’s their FOOD. And it was hinted through the dialogues that in order for them not to eat every single person they encounter because they crave that energy, there’s the bead.

The bead is used by the fox to give to the other person. It sits in the other person and collects energy. The fox then takes it back when it’s done and wipes memory.

In this fashion the other person isn’t harmed and nor is the fox. He’s not out there trying to animalistcally devour the other person to get their energy, as is shown in this episode when he couldn’t control himself . Instead the bead IS getting fed sitting in the other persons belly.

He can either take it out when the other person is dead (sucked dry of life energy), or do it before or does. It’s why the second lead female was so sad, no? She falls in love with them. So she keeps the beads inside. But then that person will eventually die. Falling in love is never a good thing as they said.

So the current conflict is that he’s hungry. He senses her energy and wants it. It’s especially strong because he likes her. But, he doesn’t want to give her that bead to collect the energy he craves. Because dojng so sucks the life force out of her at the same time.

As for the petulant mountain god. He’s saying, just suck her energy. She’s a passing human like all the humans you’ve ever met. Use her to get what you need. You cannot be with her anyway because you’re eternal until you turn into human. And then he either reveals to him hee human fate red string or ties the red string on her as a snub yo him. Because he’s not human and he therefore CANT, no matter what, have a red string tied between himself and her.

  43. I looooved Dam’s healthy mindset in this episode. (I mean, I always have. She’s honest and transparent and has healthy boundaries.) I don’t remember it verbatim, it was when she said, “I could lie to him that I feel okay, but I still also have friends and family I love, and dreams to pursue.” Even during the bench scene her approach was still very practical. “I can just hold your hand every 3 days. If I lose weight, I’ll overeat.” I know the past couple of episodes has viewers compare the storyline to Twilight, but I’m so relieved that Dam retains her healthy and smart mindset! 🙂

As to Sun Woo, I don’t want to be annoyed at him (I don’t think he’s meant to be annoying), but I am!

In one of the Hospital Playlist threads, I mentioned that I found it just a tiny little bit annoying that IJ puts SHwa in an awkward situation by saying within her hearing, “Nothing ever goes my way” , as though hinting at her rejection of him.

    Sun Woo is worse!

    1. Dam already told him upfront that she liked someone else, but he kept hovering around her. He even reiterated telling her he liked her. 🙄

    2. What makes it a little more annoying to me was that, yes, he kept hovering around her despite her telling him she doesn’t like him and she likes someone else, but he only took it seriously (and drunk a lot) when she told him and the others she had a boyfriend. Like her initial “no” wasn’t enough? A man had to officially enter the picture before you believe her? Ugh. Annoying. 😒

Though, to be fair, based on the previews for next week, I pity him. It seems he will think there is hope for him, when it’s all the red string’s doing.

But in happier news, I love love Jae Jin and Hye Sun.

@moonstar512, I also LOL’d when she used an idiom toward him.

  44. Hello everyone,

I just finished Ep 9 (you guys are so ahead of me), but i just wanted to comment on the ICE ROOM scene. omg. i was laughing so hard you guys… i was dying, literally. my abs hurt so bad and it was hard to breathe and i felt like i could “pee my pants” any moment (TMI sorry). i’ve never laughed this hard in soooo loooong. omg. i’m still laughing as i think about that scene, as i write about it now. i’m snorting hahaha. i had to pause it several times, leave my chair and take a breather coz i felt like dying. gosh. but i love it. i think that’s the best LOL scene ever in all my Kdrama shows haha. Yes, that Elsa comment and Dam’s face. omg. hysterical!!! and he was referring to MY LOVELY SAM SOON kdrama hahahaha. AY YAY. and that hat thingeo he made for Dam. so cute. but so funny (was that a baaaaaah sheep laugh or goat? on the background). this scene will forever live in my funny books. hahaha. you can bet i’ll be rewatching that scene for some needed major laughs 🙂 in the future. wow. too too funny. @GB, guess we were both in stitches haha.

@GB, scary kiss indeed. when his eyes turned red, he went for the kill and it was intense. wow. @welmaris, the use of the wrestler “tap” also reminds me of that kdrama show “oh my venus.” but with mr fox, more like tongue wrestling haha. Dam was getting devoured for sure oooh la la.

    Can’t wait for Ep 10 tomorrow. 🙂

  45. @pandamilktea – I agree with you, I like that self care and health are important to Dam vs going all “martyr” mode for the sake of a guy. Good role modeling for young ladies who watch this show.

@HK_lady – that sauna date is so out of nowhere, that ice room scene was hilarious. My Lovely Sam Soon (which I have not watched) may be a good meta reference as Jang Ki Yung looks like a young Hyun Bin.

@Welmaris @Moonstar – so true, both are novices on romantic relationships despite Fox’s age. More challenges await as they now have to contend with the red string of fate between Dam and Tiger by that meddling deity. Hope they continue to communicate to each other.

@esst – This is why animal and human will have a failed and unequal relationship due to baser instincts. They have to find a happy medium until a solution to how he can be human come to fruition. The no-touch scenes were too extreme and very funny.

@cleo / Matthew Goode is so good! I have to watch his series.

I spotted immediately that Fox impersonated BFF JJ due to the holding hands. Dam immediately reacted with a shocked WTH?! Same scene in DAYS but it’s DK’s brother instead of MM. there’s something intimate with holding hands like that. Another parallel with DAYS is touch as “healing” or giving energy but on opposite sides.

Hye sun and JJ ship is sailing!!!

  46. @moonstar512, I’m well as can be! Hope you are too! Yes I plan to read up on past discussions on the earlier episodes to see what everyone’s thoughts have been so far. I agree on Dam being special, although Hye Sun has mentioned it in a joking manner, it is true. She is the person who will help him finally become human. I hope I’m not speaking too soon when I say I’m so glad they are not following a reincarnation plot, that trope has been sucked dry (pun unintended) that I cannot even deal.

@fern, exactly you would think the earth should be able to hold a large tree but this is why I’m saying that right now it’s more like a small pot for a big plant. As long as Mr Fox is a gumiho and not human, still has his bead and still needs to feeds off human energy, their relationship will be more destructive rather than healthy.

@Smurfett820 I’m not denying the points you raise but my confusion lies in how the rules of how the fox’s hunger and the bead seems to have changed. Unless they are saying that this is why past lovers have dead. The Fox/bead craved human energy so much it drains them even if the bead is no longer in the person.

  47. Kalimera everyone!

Finally I managed to watch Episode 10 last night! No, I am not happy with the Mountain God’s interference. I have got the same vibes as I had with the deity girl in #DAYS.

Anyway, I will follow this because I like Mr. Fox and Dam!

@Janey, you should watch “A discovery of Witches”! I have read the trilogy and I have enjoyed it so very much! Matthew Goode is swoony!

  48. @Cleo – I knew you would say that about the mountain god. Those meddling deities!!! 😂

I also like our Start Up stars who are the 2nd couple. Ep11 scenes of them are crazily funny and endearing. Jae Jin is such a good guy.

Will find a way to watch Matthew Goode’s Witches. The last I watched of his movies was Leap Year but my sentimental favorite is Chasing Liberty.

  49. Darling @Janey !

I am glad that you are still awake! Are you okay?

As for MRIAG, I just / geunyang can’t! Those meddling deities indeed! :-p

Yes, I felt that those two had potential! It is good to see them here having their spotlight! Jae Jin is indeed a good guy! Also Hye Sun is a gem! She cares so much for Mr. Fox! I would love to see how their romance will go!

I haven’t watched those ones, but I will start watching what I have missed so far!
Deborah Harkness that penned ADOW is a Professor of History of Science. She is brilliant, that is all I have to say!

  50. I’m doing good, @Cleo! Thanks for asking. Heat wave is easing but not much. It will be a scorching 4th of July holiday weekend coming up. My workweek ended today and I’m on vacation starting tomorrow. Yippee! I’ll have time to write my DAYS finale thoughts.

Hope you are doing well. Stay cool 😎!

  51. @Janey

Well, the second heat wave is here for us. So, I am trying to stay indoors as much as I can!

Have a great time in your Holidays! I will be waiting for your DAYS finale thoughts!

    Stay cool too! Kalinixta agapimeni!

  52. Annyeong.

Just finished Episode 10 tonight. 🙂

    How interesting…
that Dam entered Fox’s office thinking she surprised him, but she got the biggest surprise of all – with that intense FIRST KISS. ooh la la.
that Dam tapping out of the kiss meant she was old fashioned. and when she was ready to be physical, Mr Fox was in no-touch zone. poor Dam. funny moments but sad for confused Dam.
when Dam got home all depressed, her brother was watching “what’s wrong with secretary kim?” drama on the tv starring Park Seo Joon <3 haha yes, what's wrong with Dam? her bro was oblivious… same when he witnessed her giddiness over her first kiss. he had no clue.

Mr Fox got his own Mukbang going on but without Dam to watch him devour all the yummy food. he did pretty good making me hungry there haha. really? he doesn't know what the rice paper wrap is for? oh my. he called it "pot stand"? and ate it dry. ay yay. too much. and he didn't like the macaroon coz it was too sweet? nooooo no no no

@Esst3 i ask myself the same thing how the bead rolled into Dam so easily like she's the rightful owner. Dam just hit his chest and the bead came out? shouldn't mr Fox be in control of who the bead goes to? but this bead is acting on its own more likely. it recognized its true owner? hmmm

@moonstar the mountain god may be watching Dam because he knows that Mr Fox is near his time limit and he wants to make sure that Dam is safe from harm in case Mr Fox turns into a monster???

@janey omg Jang Ki Yong does look like a young Hyun Bin <3 haha. My lovely Sam Soon is a classic. gotta watch it.
Guess hand holding is a bit un-natural when it's not your beloved. yes, that reminds me of DAYS too when DK was weirded out to find his brother holding her hand. maybe coz she was hoping it was MM. hihi
JJ did look good in that turtle neck and red jacket combo. haha. He played the part well. he faked it well haha. what a revealing moment for Mr Fox. Dam came through for him. she didn't give up, but was resolved for them to Stay Together. awwww.

    Can't wait for next week!
