Hospital Playlist 2: Ep 4 Flower Gardeners’ Consensus-Building

Based on the numerous comments for this Episode 4, I think Flower Gardeners have a consensus on the following issues:

1. IkJun was “twin-zoned.”

The viewers have been trolled. From the previews, they imagined Songhwa and IJ to be romantically strolling off into the sunset. But reality struck again. She was informing him that she viewed him like a twin sibling. So from friend-zoned, he was “twin”-zoned. In Reply 1988, Deoksun and Sunwoo were like twins, too. IIRC, they were both born on the same day and year, and had the same last name.

The “Couple” song was appropriate because twins are a couple, too. lol.

2. The pink piggies were a red herring.

Toys kissing vs fists bumping.
Child vs Adults.
Materialism vs non-materialism.
Fantasy vs Reality.
Imaginary friends vs Real friends.
Greed vs Generosity.

lol. This isn’t even a fair contest. We know who the real winner is.

3. The lunchtime was a revelation.

4. Jang beat God? Hardly. The heavens will have the last laugh.

  1. Thank you @pm3 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪

Gosh seeing that clip of her saying she can finish the whole bowl without even thinking about PG… dang… such an inconsiderate person. she is the worst gf one would ever want to be with and her fans find her act here cute. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  2. Jang really doesn’t know her boyfriend at all, so does Jwon.
That’s why WG is no Endgame.

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks @pkml3. That’s fun to read.

That lunch … from the start, IJ expected it to be a communal lunch ie in the true-blue Asian way, we open up 2 bowls of this and 1 bowl of that, and everyone can take from which ever bowl to share. That’s why IJ was surprised that MH had bought so many portions as if 1 for each person. They were meant to sit down together at one table to share tteokbokki and a few portions of each dish with each other. However because it didn’t turn out that way, IJ said he’d eat up all the steamed egg by himself.

So all the more it was flying in the face of this group tteokbokki meal culture, to horde a dish.

  4. Thank you @packmule3 for the compilation. WG shouldn’t be to happy because PG revealed that his reason to stay is because he cut the deal with Dir. Ju to help him fulfill his dreams.😁 That is more consistent with his character.
He is just inconsistent with his explanation but the real reasob is always been his patients

  5. Thank you @pm3. After reading the text it is more clear for me that she is just opposite to PG. And Minha and SK are really like they are couple 😍

Jang has a younger brother. So in my culture the older will share things to the younger person. I wonder how is she sharing stuffs to her family members 🤔.

  6. yes agree @bulmagoku, the reason of PG stay to cut the deal with Dir. Ju in fulfilling his dream more consistent with his character.

@Kanaya, totally!!! Jang doesn’t even know about DLL program and the other “bigger” reason of why JW stay in Yulje. Wait, does she think that she is the only reason? *oh no*
The only one who understand JW is Shwa. She knows from the start before JW told her the real reason of why he stays..

I don’t know if it’s related, but I see the advice from Songhwa to Seonbin regarding the patient who faced a critical phase, like a parallel with advising herself about JW’s condition.

“You should fought him earlier. You should have pushed ahead with your decision if you believed so. You’ve been closely monitoring the patient. That means you know best when it comes to that patient. So you should have trusted your judgement and fought for it. Had anything bad happen it would have been all on you. His condition worsened because you wasted time, being hesitant and indecisive. You’ve been working hard to study the case and monitor him, so fight hard. That is the only way.. you can save your patients.”

If the time comes when the relationship between Jang and JW bring dooms or damage to JW, I guess SHwa, the wisest doctor of all, would come to rescue him. She will fight hard to save him from the fatal destruction. Because Shwa is the one who monitor JW closely all this time.

  7. @moonstar, interesting anecdote! Shwa might do just that to help him get out of a toxic relationship and regain himself. Looking forward to Shwa being his knight in shining armor 😉

  8. @Miracle23,
Yes, I’m sooo looking forward to that too!

  9. Great compilation @pm3! Laughing out loud from the gif of the beginning of karma to Jang from God during each date lol

@moonstar512 that is an interesting point you bring up. I can see this as something that differentiate FG relationship from everyone else. I remember early in s1 when IJ was dealing with relationship issue, songhwa backed off. Same with Junwan this ep. She realized that there is a certain boundary there. I’ll be keen to see how she reacted when JW is in love problem. If she intervened, then it might indicates how she doesn’t view JW like the other guy friends.

  10. Thank you pm3 ❤

    More episodes, more incompatible WG.

Yey! i wait that momentum too @moonstar512

  11. @moonstar512,

You have a point! I wrote something on “The Mealtime dynamics” and it matches with your answer! SHwa will save the day…again!

  12. @moonstar512 that’s great! Her whole conversation with SB was really showing her as the wise doctor. She’ll fight for it wisely.

  13. thanks @pm3.

@moonstar512 can’t wait for uri songhwa to save the day. it’s refreshing to see women taking charge of their lives.

  14. Thank you @pm3! ☺️

The glaring differences between SW and Jang are slowly but surely beginning to show. More and more scenes are also starting to validate FG.

@moonstar512 That’s an interesting take! I’m looking forward to that moment 😉

  15. Yeah SHwa, you’re the badass villain remember? With your plaster tats. Just go plant one on his lips already. 💋💋 Knock him out like you did that abusive dad. 😂 🤜🤛. DS kissed Taek remember? Yes he was sleepy and all but who cares? We’re all progressives here. We wouldn’t hold it against you. 😂

  16. Ah, yes, @GB.

Asian style vs Western style of dining!

    Asian style:

    1. Communal food
Each one gets a rice bowl, but the entrees are shared.

    2. Everything is in small pieces or bite-size. Chopsticks only. No knives.

    3. Bones are included. Heads included. Eyes included.

    4. Round tables with a lazy Susan in the middle. Dive in or you’ll end up eating with little.

    5. 1,0001 spices.

    Western style:

    1. Individual dishes. No sharing unless agreed upon.

    2. Big pieces so cutlery required.

    3. Deboned and filleted, please. No heads. No dead creature’s eyes staring at you as you eat it. 😂

    4. Rectangular tables. Mind your own plate.

    5. Salt and pepper 🤣

  17. Eyes included! 😂

  18. I’m still traumatized by that fish head soup Xiao Nai served Weiwei in “Love O2O,” @ agdr03. 🤪 Those eyeballs must have been jiggling in the sockets. 🤢

  19. Thank you @packmule3 for summarizing episode 4’s points 🙂

Cannot wait the point 5, our wise princess and the greatest “villain” Songhwa <3<3<3

  20. @BulmaGoku, add that to PG’s many lies… ikjun should pick this one up since he was the one who asked PG if he ever lies, and he did it again. 😏

  21. Love this write up! Thanks, @pm3 🙂

I often visit that risotto scene… SHwa looks the cutest in it and I feel like pinching her cheeks so badly 🤭 And when she sees JWon eat the risotto, THAT is what pure happiness looks like 🧡

  22. Was it jiggling like this? 🤪😂

I don’t think they move anymore when it’s cooked. 🤔

I’ll always remember your trauma that’s for sure. 😂 It’s supposed to help heal people with brain concussion. 😉

You’re making me want to watch LoveO2O. 🥰

  23. @Pm3,
I remember that in a kdrama : A protagonist eat an octopus alive !

    About me :
I use to eat the brains of shrimps. 🙂
Also, the marrow of chicken bones (good quality chicken). 🙂
    But I don’t like eyes. ><

We have some famous dishes here:
    – Beef tongue.
    – Trippes.
    – Snails. (very very good! I'm addicted, but it's expensive)
    – The famous "frogs leg" which is actually a rare dish, difficult to make, that almost nobody eats. You need to go in a classy restaurant for that.
    And of course :
    – Oysters! Alive of course. A dish that is on most tables at Christmas.

  24. @WEnchanteur, I remember and like all of those things from stays in France – well not tripe so much. Another thing was pig cheeks, which was delish.

In Run-on, one of the friends ate little bite sized baby octopi. The Lemon Sole I had for my birthday had it’s head and bones. How can you know a fish is fresh unless you see its eyes when you buy it?

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @pkml3 @agdr03 @WE
So much talk about food! I’m eating cherries now, and trying to imagine them as escargot (yes I like them. In one place, not too expensive).

Yes, @agdr03 is right. The fish eyes do not jiggle LOL. I don’t eat them either, but I’m used to being eyeball-to-eyeball with them without blinking or blushing 😂 😳 😁

  26. @moonstar512 yes yes …. and I think if later Jwon falls apart from his relationship with Jang, he would ask for some advices from Songhwa tje wiser one.

  27. @Packmule3, my having married into a Chinese family means I’ve had many communal Chinese meals. Often my white family and friends join us, and I can forget that they’re not used to that way of dining. We still laugh about the reaction of some table members when my father-in-law happily ate the eyes out of the steamed fish. For him it was a delicacy.

  28. Hello !

I would like to add that this applies to the Greek cousine as well.

Most of the times, we eat mezedes and those who are eating together are sharing the dishes! So, we are accustomed to it ourselves.

Other times, we are going to have our portions but we have salads and side dishes we can all eat together.

It depends on the occasion and the mood 🙂
The fun fact here is that we love to share and we are happy if they enjoy the food we have cooked!

  29. @GB Good point and explanation about the communal eating. In that cultural context, it makes Jang’s behavior even worse.

@moonstar512 Interesting connection with SHwa’s advice to SB. Haha, JWon is ill and needs urgent medical intervention from SHwa… Yes, maybe she will see him getting hurt more and more in the relationship and eventually intervene.

  30. My little black heart wants to see Maggot behaving like that in front of Rosa and Dir. Ju 😒 . When is the next Holiday in PH2 timeline?

  31. @packmule3 Thank you for organizing all the most important posts into this one post for us to easily come back to!

  32. @FGB4877 Seollal (Lunar New Year) is usually in February but according to the timeline, Feb is almost over. It’s serious stuff if JWon is bringing Jang home for a major holiday like that. In any case, I’d like to see a scene with her and Rosa! We haven’t seen any interaction since last season when Rosa told Jang to get JWon to stay and neither have we seen how she feels about Jang and her relationship with JWon.
