  1. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thank you @pkml3! I don’t keep track of when each show will air, but your opening a thread reminds me!!!

  2. Kalimera @Packmule3,

Thank you for the thread. Yes, I am waiting for this show.
    4 episodes until the ending…

  3. Episode 13

So many secrets and regrets in that neighbourhood.

If DaHyun’s mother, Halmeoni and the officer were telling the true 18 years ago, Gye Young might have been found alive.

At the same time, Gye Young had no luck either.

The truck man could have helped her, but instead he turned a blind eye, living with regrets for so many years, while the fishmonger molesting her and killing her ?

Seriously, what is wrong with all these people?

Another little girl was missing, they have found one of the pervents and another was on the loose and they didn’t say anything to help the investigation.

In how many crimes should they stop? It is understandable that Gyu Hoon is going to feel rage with how the “grown ups” handled the case of his sister, as it was seen in Episode 14’s preview.

From the Chief who wanted the piano teacher to be the culprit no matter what.

From the officer who didn’t say the truth about the culprit who was with DH.

From DH’s mother and Halmeoni who did the same.

From the truck driver who didn’t help GY.

From everyone in the neighbourhood who “killed” that little girl with their stupid decisions.

Gye Young didn’t die once, she died several times over…
What a shame. My heart feels for that little girl. She was very brave, while some adults were not!

  4. Sigh…thanks for the summary @Cleo. So we are going the route of paedophilia? 😢. Poor GY. Will have to find time later to watch.

  5. Kalimera @nrllee,

I was so disappointed last night. If you watch the episode you will get it as well…

I don’t know if we are going to that route, but the scene with the stalker and the unconscious DH is creepy. He was watching her on his knees while she was unconscious, lying down on a dark alley.

I think it is a foreshadow, they won’t show the paedophilia to us…

  6. Hi @Cleo. I agree about the creepy man who was bent over the unconscious DH. I have a feeling they will suggest it but not actually show it (or skip over the fact that it could’ve happened).

So confirmed 2 men (1 is the fishmonger, the other is unknown – doesn’t look to be DH’s abusive father because her mom didn’t seem to recognize him) who abducted GY from the start. DH was brought there because LJG wanted the game cartridge. Truck driver was supposed to be away that day. He refused help to the injured GY. 🙄 He didn’t want to be discovered to be back in town hence his reluctance? Was he having an affair? I guess that sort of explains him approaching the other little girl in an earlier episode. He was guilty that he didn’t help GY back then.

I understand why DH’s mother and grandma (and even the policeman 🙄) would’ve tried to cover it up. But still… it would’ve given the other family closure had they come clean back then. Instead, chances are GH’s dad looks to have been killed by fishmonger? Why else would he be uncontactable? And why else would fishmonger tell LJG to mention his (GH) dad in that conversation in the alley? But it bugs me that fishmonger guy refused to admit to killing GY. Is there some other convoluted reason why that happened? I agree with you that all the adults in the past definitely contributed to the pain the Eun family endured all these years. Preview shows GH wanting to leave the township. Who would blame him? Everywhere he looks there will be people he bumps into which in some shape or form contributed to the crime. Guess we don’t have much long to wait now for wrap up.

I am sort of glad that it’s ending soon, the drama has gone very dark in the past ep and I imagine it will continue down this path the rest of the way. There’s been no comic release valve this ep. And it’s feeling very heavy. 🥺

  7. My dear @nrllee,

We were expecting this part of show to be that dark and heavy. I was expecting that most of them were having a secret and they were hiding something, but I didn’t expect that they all acted in such a way, that consequently had GY killed.

It was not only a person who did a foolish act, they were so many of them.

We still have to learn what happened with GY’s father and if the fishmonger killed him.

One plausible scenario is that GY was found by the ahjussi who was trying to molest DH and killed her with that carpenting tool he was also trying to kill the police officer. If that is true, then the fishmonger is only a molester and he took care of GY’s body.

Maybe he only buried her OR the taxi driver did that?

I agree about GH. The burden is too much and although he want to have DH in his life, the surrounding doesn’t let him forget. Who could ?

We cannot ask him to forgive, because the truth is not out in the open to be cathartic and it is too soon. They haven’t even found GY’s body or what happened to his father.

It is too soon to forgive all those who did what they have done, without helping GY.

DH is a victim as well. She was blaming herself for leaving GY behind, when in reality all the adults left her behind. Her pain is important and her burden is heavy as well.

They both need therapy in order to move on, together or not.

  8. I have yet to watch episode 14 and like @Cleo summarized so many missed opportunities that these people could have helped but didn’t. Thus, their guilty conscience that gets acted out in extreme ways that aren’t helpful, especially the policeman who accused WonTak’s dad. It was like putting the blame on someone else could erase his lack of heeding the kids plead to look for his sister.

Of course this leaves us in tangles anxiously waiting for the next clue that they gradually give out. Next week’s episodes will be the impact of how truth will have on our characters. Can’t wait for the truth to come to light.

I wonder what they did to the body that DH’s mum killed.

  9. I am really angry after ep14. So many adults who made egregious choices that night. The truck driver… he deserves to have GY haunt him for the rest of his life. 😡. He left her just because she was an “inconvenience”? 😑😡. There is something seriously wrong with that neighbourhood.

I guess the fact that fishmonger guy didn’t confess to LJG was a red herring. Strange that he would confess to Policeman JunHo. But I guess they had a relationship. Another body (policeman) for him to bury then? He was the last guy to be with JunHo. In public at the restaurant though?

So questions remain about the remains of
    1. GY
    2. GH’s dad
    3. JunHo (policeman) – potentially.

I am wondering why killer would stash LJG’s body in the fridge when he’s always hidden his kills before. It’s not consistent? O well, so far this has been a worthwhile watch in spite of some of these strange inconsistencies.

  10. Questions that remain
    1. How did GY hurt her leg?
    2. Was she trying to walk home and that’s why she left the alley where she was originally? And that was where piano teacher found her?

    Inconsistencies
    1. I find it hard to believe that GY could hobble to LJG’s “home” (the abandoned house) but not be able to get home. Was it that much closer? 🤔
    2. Why killer decided to put LJG in the fridge (that would’ve been discovered quickly) yet he seemed to have buried all the other kills (presumably GY and her dad).
    3. Why the police didn’t bother to open the fridge first before they moved it. Before I move any piece of furniture, I empty it of all its contents to make it easier to move? 😂
    4. LJG and the men at the table in the restaurant. It was well lit. Fishmonger was sitting right at the far end of the table when LJG came up to the table.

    https://i.ibb.co/HzLmX6w/A3528027-FAAD-4-FE2-861-D-0-C7205441-E2-C.jpg

LJG even gave the men a long hard stare right before he left the restaurant. He would’ve been staring directly at the fishmonger with this look.

    https://i.ibb.co/6JC7wL5/7-A4-F9-AD5-6-B8-C-4-EA7-897-A-3-DD99-AC302-A2.jpg

So it doesn’t make sense that he would recognize fishmonger immediately in the dark alley and miss him completely in the well lit restaurant. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Red herrings
    1. LJG’s box of trophies. I guess I was wrong there? That was never really explained well. Why bother with gifting DH the scarf?
    2. The people at the restaurant missing from the table and LJG meeting with someone in the alley.

  11. Kalimera Ladies!

    @nrllee,

I didn’t have the courage yesterday to write after watching Episode 14, it was too heartbreaking. We now know what really happened that night…

Anyway, I would like to add my thoughts about what you have written about inconsistencies, mostly about the culprit.

I think that LJG lured GY but the other men took her captive right away. That’s why she couldn’t run away in the first place.

Regarding the actual culprit, I am going to tell you what I have found out by watching crime series and the most dinstictive of all is “Through the Darkness”.

    https://mydramalist.com/699557-inside-criminal-minds

We have to refer the culprit as someone who has serial killer tendencies, if that is the case, that means his P.O. changed. (i.e. his method of killing)

Here is my mini profiling, based on what we have learned:

In the beginning, I was thinking the fishmonger was a molester, but after watching him say all those things to the police officer, he is a serial killer that finds pleasure while he is torturing others.

He has tendencies towards paedophilia and he can easily kill a person, whether is a kid or an adult.

We don’t know when he started killing people, we do know that he had stopped for 18 years, which for him was a torture, because he couldn’t find pleasure from the act of killing. (It is based on the research of the first ever profiler in Korea did and ThD give us info about it.)

The culprit is also a sociopath, a liar and maybe a narcissist.

Gye Young is not his first killing. He has done something else before. He could have been in jail about it.

He killed LJG and didn’t bury him, because the torturing and him being intoxicated made him euphoric. He also found out that LJG was put on that fridge and he put him there because noone would look at it. At the same time, he did that because he wanted others to take the spotlight about the murder, aka DaHyun and her family and GyeHoon.

As for the police officer, the good news are that he told his Chief that he was with the fishmonger, but the Chief seems to be oblivious for many things in this neighbourhood that I don’t know if he will do anything about his second in command missing.

Lastly, regarding LJG, he is another case of a serial killer. He has stalking tendencies and that box of trophies is not a red herring as you said.

That box of trophies is indeed trophies from all his victims. My guess is that every item in the box belonged to a person who had murdered or he was obsessed with.

Regarding the incident in that shop, we didn’t see LJG’s face when he was inside the shop. We do know though, that the Chief saw LJG and the fishmonger talking in that alley…

    And that’s all for now.

  12. Thanks for your input @Cleo about serial killers. Re LJG. He came to the table where WT was pouring drinks. He was mainly talking to WT but right at the end before he walked out he stared down the table of men. Truck driver was sitting at the head of the table and had his head down. Which was why I thought perhaps LJG missed noticing him hence his surprise in the alley afterwards. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense that his face registered nothing when he stared down the table. Just something I noticed.

  13. @Nrllee,

I have to re-check the scene. I remember we were discussing about it back then, about who was the possible “man in the alley”.

Dunno what to tell you about that. It might be weird and they have missed it or not…🙄

Still, GyeHoon being so heartbroken when the truck driver came to talk to him.

He wanted to “mind his own business”, one phrase that says it all.

In every tragedy that happens in a neighbourhood of a city around us, someone was minding his own business. Letting someone else to get hurt in the meantime.

    Afterwards, the same excuses…”I didn’t know. I haven’t noticed.”

    Lies like that…

  14. @Cleo yes, it was a terrible indictment on all the adults. People in authority. People who should’ve known better.

    1. The police chief who didn’t believe the 2 boys reporting GY missing. They lost precious hours because he didn’t launch a search earlier.
    2. The piano teacher who decided not to give GY a ride in his car.
    3. The truck driver who despite her pleas and distress, decided to just drive off. She’s a little girl on her own in the night? Any person with any decency (or sense) should’ve at the very least driven her to the police station or something? 😡. His abandonment of GY was the worst.
    4. The adults (DH’s mom, grandma and policeman JunHo) who sought to cover up the death of the other man.

Everyone failed that poor little girl. Her death had ramifications on the Eun family. They were torn apart. Honestly I am not sure I want to know how that poor little girl died. But for closure I think GH needs to know where his sister and father are buried. If there are any remains left, then at the very least give them a proper burial. She needs to be laid to rest so that GH (and DH) can rest and move on with their lives.

  15. @nrllee,

There are some traits that make us human. Being humane is one of them. It is like all those people in that neighbourhood had their demons to face, but instead of being wise and trying to live by some ethical means, the majority of them are monsters who seem like humans. Wolves in a sheep skin. The title of the episodes was poignant as well. “An ordinary evil” if I remember correctly.

The most unethical person is the truck driver for me. He could save her and he didn’t. Seriously, just because your day was awful you couldn’t take from a narrow and not well lit street a little girl?

He was the one who killed GY. Hence his never ending regrets.

I am trying not to be that sad about it, because it is truly heartbreaking if you let it sink.

P.S. Ella did an edit about the first 14 episodes, that is too powerful.

  16. Thanks for the video @Cleo.
