I’m available my Saturday early morning (3 am) as well to watch. Yes, I’m crazy enough to get up early I think. Maybe my Saturday at 8 am, but I would not be able to watch 2 episodes.

EPISODE 19 REWATCH STARTS HERE!!!
I like the logical progression of MS’s growth. He rejected his father’s offer to shatter his soul and lose his emotional root, so now he’s full of emotion. He is grateful: able to thank Fairy sincerely for making him a different person, with a smear of cinnabar on her face.
A totally unfounded action (it was his first time) and over an act (being made to feel) that he would never have permitted a few weeks prior.
He becomes so empathetic: filled with the understanding of what emotions are, he is able to say that previously he never felt guilt, that he was like a walking corpse. He now understands his father’s love and his people’s suffering, even Fairy’s kindness and her pain of not being able to go home.
BUT that is where his understanding comes to several road bumps.
Fairy is mistaken to think emotions will change his motivation.
ep 19 starts off swoony!
Although the mood changes when DF QC wanted to smash down Shuiyuntian. She is avoiding him.
Oh is it when DF QC brought the orchid plant back?

MS was surprised that she suddenly backed away but he only offers to keep her company, not forcing his attentions on her.
Yes, her movement backwards was a rejection of his offer to destroy SYT and offer her the real Arbiter Hall after killing everyone.
Yes, he started to enjoy the scent of the orchid plant.
Yes @GB we will find that his motivation is not going to change until Orchid dies. He doesn’t get it until then because of the expectations from his nation and his father death. Also it doesn’t help that Shuiyuntien starts the war.
Fairy had not only long been established as his person, but in Episode 18, she had become more. At first waking after the lightning strikes, he asked where she was going. She had said nowhere except to get his medicine. It might have been that he took this as confirmation that she was remaining with him. She had then been with him when he grieved over his father’s death and the sorrow of having killed him. He had allowed her to comfort him at his most vulnerable.
It’s likely at this stage, Fairy had become not only his most avowed person, the most trusted one, the one he expressed gratitude towards, but also his beloved, however, he didn’t couch this into those words yet.
He wanted to give her the world, no longer because of the Heart Curse, but because he wanted to give her his everything, and everything that he believed her heart desired. It was only later when he saw how CH felt the same way and wanted to marry Fairy, that MS realised that this was love.
Unfortunately, as in the case of most couples, just feeling warm and having a whole lot of good resolutions does not mean we understand the other party. LOL.
Do you think CH looks like Bai Jing Ting? I saw Bai Jing Ting has a new period drama lining up in Q1 2023. On the same weibo post, looks like “Forbidden Love” is scheduled in Q1 2023. That would be good for us. We will hopefully have watched a few dramas be able to start on a clean slate.
Here comes Danyin to inadvertently add more to the plot. She began as what I’d have thought was a throwaway 2nd FL, but she took on quite an interesting role. Without her, CH wouldn’t have escaped and gone to Yun Meng, for one thing.
@When did MS realise it was love? When he saw CH in mortal realm?
Bai Jing Ting? I had to look him up… ah the Reset guy. I think from different angles, the actors look to have some similar features and could look alike.
From memory Danyin didn’t meet CH until 10 years later in the mortal realm? So that thinking time of hers equal 10 years in mortal realm?
Yes, MS didn’t seem to realise that what he felt was love (or jealousy) until he witnessed how CH was and what CH said about how he felt about Fairy. It took THAT long LOL. I was surprised too. I guess he never knew because at his early teenage years, he had his emotional root cut off. Never even had a crush before, poor boy.
I didn’t know that there was a 10 year gap. I thought they were more or less kids together and Danyin became his servant and buddy (as a boy).
Now that the mission to get MS’s Love Tree healed and blooming is done, Fairy is stuck with the question about herself. She is beset with an identity crisis. She has a dream of herself as a child with parents.
Just as MS is all set to unite his life with hers, to bring her the world, etc, Fairy starts to distance herself from his objectives, and from him. Poor fellow!
Oh swoony conversation from MS in the cave.
In an attempt to find out her true form, she freezes in a cave. MS feels her cold and of course finds her.
Seeing her distress at not knowing her identity, he assures her that she’s really a Xishan Orchid since he took care of her according to the Book of Xilan and she thrived. She tells him that the Great Turtle didn’t show her, her true form.
MS : “Maybe there’s a mistake.” (For the first time, like a normal person, he tries to comfort or find excuses to alleviate worry. His face actually shows concern.)
F : “I’ve seen my true form. It’s weird. What’s wrong with my leaves and stems? I don’t know what it was. At first I thought I was just ordinary grass. But now …” (She turns to him.) “Moon Supreme Lord, can you tell me what I am?
SWOONY LINES / ACTIONS (Ep 19)
He wraps her up a bit more and cuddles her.
MS : “I don’t care what your true form is. I only know you’re not nameless grass. You are the most important person. The person I care for the most in the three realms. No one can take you from me. From now on you must stay with me and be with me forever.” He holds her even closer. (However what ever he does, she can still take herself away from him. This show has women with lots of agency.)
(It’s interesting that he says all these swoony things, but he still does not know that he’s in love with Fairy. He only discovers that he is in Ep 23.)
But on thinking it through, she pulls away, standing up. and practically shouts. He’s taken aback at her reaction.
F : “No, you’re the MS. You want to destroy the Fairy Realm.” Even JL who’s outside can hear the commotion.
He does not understand while she still treats the people of Shuiyuntian as friends when they treat her as a traitor. She says knows that she’s not a traitor and that’s good enough.
F : “Even if I die, I won’t betray Shuiyuntian.”
MS : “Are you going to betray me?”
She shakes her head.
MS is getting angrier : “What do you want?”
Fairy : “There’s a giant gap between us. How can I betray you? You are the high-ranking MS and I am someone who doesn’t even know her identity. How can we have affection and loyalty?” MS is getting more stressed. “So stop making an effort for me, Moon Supreme Lord. I don’t deserve this honour.”
MS : “You said there was no affection and loyalty between us.” (The joke was that it was he who said it and now he finds the shoe on the other foot!!)
“Then why do you always stay by my side and do so many things for me? You revived my seven feelings. You made me worry about others. Why are you like this now?” (It’s understandably a shock to him that just as he’s sure of himself and her, she has changed.)
@GB yes the frustrating part. I resonate with MS better on this – she helps him so much but doesn’t want to be with him. It feels like she started something but doesn’t want to finish it.
But the mature side of me trying to understand Orchid.

Fairy is in tears and apologises.
MS calms down a bit : “Why are you saying this now?”
F : “You’re the leader of the Moon Tribe. You’re carrying the mission of the Moon Tribe. I’m the same. Shuiyuntian is my home.”
MS gets upset again : “I just want to return your home to you. And you just said, you might not be a fairy.”
F : “But the people I care about, besides you are all there.” (MS looks like he’s trying to contain himself as he stares at her.) “Let me ask you. When you step into Spirit Lock Gate and CH stops you there, what will you do?”

MS : “Kill him.”
F : “What will you do if my Master stops you?”
MS : “Since she’s your Master, if she’s willing to surrender, I will spare her life.”
F : “What if she refuses to surrender and insists on defending SYT even if she has to die?”
MS : “Can’t you give up the fairy realm for me?
F : “Can you give up the hatred of the Moon Tribe, and your promise to your father and your people?
A tear falls from MS’s eye. He cannot respond. After a long look at each other, he leaves.
@GB yes such swoony words MS said, and it is convincing. And is Orchid move at all? Not really. That is the frustrating part.

Actually I think she was moved. She understood what he wanted to give her and why (better than he did). However she was trapped in the dilemma. To love everyone and one person was on opposite sides of the see-saw at the moment.
MS should have been overjoyed at getting hold of the vessel of Chidi’s primordial spirit, but he looks conflicted.
XF rejoices : “After today, we are able to take revenge.” (The plan was to unseal the soldiers and to strike the Fairy Realm as soon as possible.)
MS draws out the primordial spirit from the baby, who starts to cry in protest. Then he stops. MS can’t bring himself to take the baby’s spirit. XF is confused.
I wonder if it was Fairy’s love for all men and wanting peace that stilled MS’s hand in taking Chidi’s spirit prematurely. He didn’t know yet that by doing so while still a baby, he had risked turning it into ashes.
They check through Jie Li’s interrogation of Fairy and realise that they fortunately didn’t kill Chidi before the appointed time.
To kill people who have been unfair to the people he cares – It is consistent though to his character setting. He is programme and brought up like that. What would be the alternative for DF QC?
Hello! I have some free time and checking if you all are here. So ep19 is the beginning of going to the mortal realm for everyone! I’m at the part where Danyin follows CH to the mortal realm
MSand XF read Chidi’s Destiny Book – Fate Poem
(So MS realises that the baby would have died, then the primordial spirit would have vanished instead of unsealing the Sword. The time to get the spirit is upon the successful completion of the hardship experience. This explains why when MS killed Chidi ‘prematurely’ as he thought, in order to save Fairy’s life in Yun Meng, Fairy was blamed for the failure of Chidi’s hardship experience and the loss of her primordial spirit.
Ironically, it was also Fairy who unknowingly had some of Chidi’s spirit in the Bone Orchid, placed there by RH. It was the last place anyone would have thought to look for Chidi’s spirit, since Chidi had been killed to save Orchid. RH was so smart.
MS to his credit, never blamed Orchid. He took the responsibility upon himself, saying that it was his decision to kill Chidi.)

(Just as JL works secretly for MS to get information out of Fairy, so too would she work for RH. However we can’t tell at this stage if Die Yi had already made contact with her. She may already have been given the poison to eat to ensure her loyalty.)
That was the dilemma set up in the first half. We know at the end she chose to love DF QC and love everyone. It’s not a “neither nor”.
I wrote a long comment on the previous post but my internet gave up midway and it disappeared. I guess this thread still counts because we are still in Cangyan Sea in the beginning of ep 19.
I think the show is the strongest in Cangyan Sea. Every episode situated there is wonderful. While the early episodes in Shuiyuntian were fun and used for the setup, In Yummeng Lake they had a task so those episodes were enthralling (narratively, ep 25 to 26 are maybe the tightest episodes in the entire show), it is Cangyan Sea where the emotions develop and are tested.
The end of ep 18 and beginning of ep 19 is one of my favorite scenes with minimum dialogues but just a beautiful gesture of thanks from the Moon Supreme Lord who doesn’t lower himself to thank anyone. As I first watched the show, I thought it got better with each passing episode but in a rewatch I’m noticing,that Cangyan Sea’s episodes were all especially excellent and emotionally stirring.
@Viva, true, the way he knows to show that he cares is to kill the bullies of his beloved LOL.

YEs, not a neither nor… however MS had to change and grow to know what love could do and could be, it was not an exclusive thing for just a small group of people. His growth was the best. In the end he sent his Moon Tribe to fight alongside SYT.

Hi @wapz! Yes I love the Cangyan’s episodes. I like the Shuiyantian episodes but I think the Cangyan’s development is when I start to attach to the characters. Seeing the weaker side of DF QC and how Orchid and DF QC overcame that makes them more relatable and likable.
Hearing that it’s Lucheng City, and the date, Fairy tells Jie Li they are going too, (to stop MS from his plans to interfere with Xie Wan Qing who was destined to meet her Mr Right.)
Of course MS and SQ recognise the girls immediately. (Love the funny OST that tells us these scenes are fun scenes.)
It’s the first time MS and Fairy have been together since their altercation in the freezing cave. MS puts on his most authoritative tone to interrogate them. LOL
MS” Who allowed you to come?” JL of course points at Fairy.
MS : “Didn’t I tell you that you couldn’t go out without my order?
He throws back Fairy’s words at her : “Since I’m the “high-ranking Moon Supreme”, why didn’t you obey my order?” LOL.
JL cleverly gets MS to allow them to hang out together in YM. Pointing at Fairy she lies : “She wants to take a walk with My Lord.” (Orchid’s face of protest LOL.) “Orchid kept sighing in the garden just now. She said she shouldn’t have made you angry a few days ago. She felt guilty. Seeing you being upset, she was very worried. So she wanted to take a walk with you.”
F has to agree to support JL’s lie : “Yes.” MS looks hard at her. SQ next comes to the rescue “Since Fairy Orchid cares about you, how about we let her come with us?”
His silence is usually consent. MS is a softie when it comes to Fairy.
Do we know when Jie Li told Shang Que that she likes sweets?
yes that was a very touching part when the MS turned up. Have you watched the movie Endgame? It certainly felts like when the second lot of avengers turning up to help fighting. But more touching!!! Especially it shows MS is the bigger person. Not only sending them to assist SYT, but also sending them to effectively killing himself for the greater good and Orchid.
We won’t understand and feel his character growth without all these important episodes in Cangyan Sea
Also I really liked how he embraced his feelings after he healed his trauma with his father, not before. He was indeed surely falling in love but the show let him handle what was his own healing before he could give love fully. That cave scene is indeed very swoony but I’ve felt XLH has always been very rational about the conflict. She is a person who doesn’t know hate. As Tai Sui tells her qi/spirit etc is totally pure. Hence, every conflict in this show was justified from her end.
I think at this point Fairy is goign through her own personal turmoil. It is a sense of conflict. But she is also true to her original form. She is a neutral party for her own home and not against the Moon Tribe.
The question they ask of each other. Will you give up something for me? Would they do it? They will later on!
To SQ the value of the sweets depended on the fact that JL liked them.
SQ : “I remember you like sweets, so I just wanted to buy it for you.” Jie Li gives him this long look, finding him sweet and pathetic at the same time. She declares that he can only be tricked by her. “If anyone dares to deceive you, I won’t let him off the hook.”
Sweet SQ is happy to be deceived by JL over and over again.
Here she calls him her ‘special needs brother’ LOL.

And I read somewhere that CH’s original form is dear. I read that it is fitting that CH is returning to the dear city to experience life hardship.

Orchid was definitely different to begin with. She only had 1 fate. Which means she was meant to be hidden away and to kiss MS in Haotian Tower to merge his spirit with his body again.
@grace, it’s so good that in the end, what they gave up for each other was not their principles or the people they loved, but themselves. It was only the most authentic self-sacrificial love that could trump all the dilemmas, hatred, etc.
F : “Moon Supreme.”
MS : “Emm.”
F : “Thank you. I made you angry. You didn’t blame me.” (She’s not one to sweep stuff under the carpet and leave issues unaddressed. She confronts them head on.) “You still allow me to stay by your side.”
MS is still sore : “No need. (for thanks) Since you said you and I are not friends, I have nothing to blame you for. With you here there will be one more person to serve me.”
F : “Oh.”
MS : “Since you and I are not friends, don’t say these empty words anymore. I don’t like to hear it”
She nods : “Oh.”
MS : “Can’t you say anything besides ‘Oh’.?”
F : “I’m afraid that if I say too much, I will make you angry.”
MS : “Yes, it’s good to be quiet/silent.” (LOLOL What a waste of a conversation time.)
They are saved by Jie Li and SQ.
Love DF QC’s outfits in mortal realm. After all these extravagant outfits, it is refreshing to see some monochrome and a sleek, simple hair style with just one hair pin.

Fairy notes thoughtfully that she won’t be a fairy and DFQC won’t be MS. “That would be good if it could really be like that.” She’s thinking about how not having those roles would have bridged the great gulf between them that she spoke off in the beginning of the episode.
@GB that conversation sounds so bitter. MS clearly thought they are friends but just saying all those to prove that Orchid and him are friends, or more than friends. I guess to him, if they aren’t friends, why is she still being so considerate of his feelings?

Yes! @Viva, one of the illustrations is a white injured deer too. CH is related to the deer, even where he goes for his hardships!
The part where DFQC and SQ is looking at Chidi’s destiny, when I first watched it, I wondered if it would be RH but it was DFQC instead! Who would think it was him, her first death was also because of DFQC. Somehow it looks like it was fated for them to die in each other’s hands and eventually she died in her real love’s hands RH.
That makes us all laugh though. We couldn’t dislike him for that for some reasons, like we somehow didn’t dislike him when he was rude to Orchid in the days in SYT.
Yeah, @Viva, he was being petty and bitter and fault-finding. That’s the thing about getting one’s emotions… both good and bad ones come along LOL.
Hello @Viva and @GB, I guess I kept the page loaded for a while that I could not see your comments. Now I can.
It’s about to be a month since it ended and I’m still not over it hah. Netlfix releases the last episode on Oct 1 so that’s kept me hanging too. The show is still quite fresh on a rewatch. Plus I keep reading your comments on BOD even if I’m not always commenting on these threads which is reliving the fun again. I was wondering if you guys have ever come across cyn lynn’s blog. They have this compilation of extensive details showing how thorough this show was from the beginning. I wonder if I can attach a link.
@grace Poor Chidi may not originally have been meant to keep dying like that in over 1,000 lives. I think it was Evil God’s requirement to keep her alive in the cave, she had to go through endless hardship experiences and always was killed by the one she loved.
Strangely, MS was also loved by her (a broken triangle!)
Yes it came to pass that she loved RH and he loved her, so once again she died at the hands of the one she loved.
@Grace, they translate “Xiao Lang” here as beloved. I think Xiao is the same surname as Xiao Ren so they thought it was CH’s mortal self. But yes I also thought it was RH at first too. DF QC was a plot twist for me.
I read that it was a poem written by someone and Xiao Lang was referred to a special person in the poem but later interpreted as lovers in general. Ahh..I need to dig up that article to be clearer.

That’s the important bone orchid part. She can easily remove the bone orchid. She told DF QC that it is an unique treasure to her. It is sad that she lied about that. This is such a fun mortal arc. As far as I know, moat mortal arc in xianxias include the leads going to experience trial themselves. Moreover it made the enemies, Chidi and DFQC a couple. This is why when everything came full circle in ep 25, 26 I feel those were the tightest episodes of the show.

I am less attached to the scenes between Chidi woman and Xiao Ren. I don’t think Xiao Ren loves her and certainly not Chidi. This is more for the plot twist so we didn’t think her love this life time is DF QC.
Fairy sees the Hellfire mark on WQ’s neck. She figures out that since MS is the only one who could have inflicted the wound, that it would have had to have been 30,000 years previously. Then WQ would have to be the first God of War, Chidi.
F’s thoughts : “It seems he has already known. What does he want to do with the primordial spirit of the first God of War? No matter what he wants to do, I have to stop him and protect the first God of War.”
(Hence will her dilemma start because she has to protect the one who would marry MS).

@Viva, Yes, at this stage, Fairy was not devoted to MS yet. She treated the Bone Orchid lightly… but also she was trying to protect CH/XR. So her priorities were different.
I like how Show gives us indication of when they were really into each other. 1) When the Bone Orchid could not be removed 2) When MS could not summon Hellfire.
Oh great that you’ve already seen it. The Xiao confusion was very smart. I know a few people weren’t happy that these are two smart people including DFQC being the MS but they couldn’t guess what’s happening in the mortal arc and it was them all along. But I think it’s very reasonable for them to be confused.
It is their first experience, there is the confusion with the Xiao, RH plays the flute type instrument Xiao, and let’s not forget Jeili. Someone they all relied on but was already with Haishi at this point. On the rewatch it is clear that Jeili came to Cangyan Sea on the others of RH and Deiyi. So while everyone relies on her she may be deliberately setting the tribulation in place for RH. I think the overall setup was very smart.
@Viva, I think only when he wore the long coat over his costume did it look ‘ok’ but yes, couldn’t understand why a rich boy’s clothes should look so dull.

Jie Li observes MS and decides to leave the couple alone. She flutters her eyelashes at poor, clueless SQ who stares at her dumbfounded. She gives him a smiley-pouty child look.
SQ : “JL what are you doing.”
JL tugs on SQ’s clothes : “SQ ge-ge/Brother SQ, I’m tired too.”
Nobody dares to look another in the eye LOL. They shift their gazes around surreptitiously. When JL asks to be carried SQ runs away LOL.
MS : “You said that there’s no love between us, then why did you say the Bone Orchid is priceless in your heart? Are you lying to me?”
She shakes her head: “No.”
MS : “Then you lied to me before?” (He’s hoping that she lied about saying that there is a big gap between them.)
F : “No.”
(They both keep lying for a while more.)
F : “In the future if you really destroy Shuiyuntian and kill the Fairies, you’ll be my enemy.” MS looks down and nods in acknowledgement.
MS : “What were you going to say?” (before he interrupted her.)
Fairy : “Are you really not angry with me?”
MS : “Angry?”
Fairy : “In the past, if I had said or done something against you, you would have been angry with me and lost your temper, saying you’d kill me.”
MS : “Did I treat you like this before?”
Fairy : “Yes. But these days. If I say something you don’t like, managed you and even lost the Bone Orchid, you don’t react like before. Are you really not angry with me?”
He does not say anything, but just gives her a sideways gaze.
At home MS is sitting thoughtfully like a statue until SQ comes to ask him what he’s thinking.
MS asks SQ : “Do you think I’m abnormal lately?”
MS : “I’ve been distracted recently. I can’t concentrate. Especially for Orchid. Sometimes I should be angry, but I can’t get angry. I even wanted her to make me angry.”
“… But she…” Orchid walks by outside and immediately his attention is caught by her. He follows her move across the path with his eyes.

@Viva, yeah, that’s the one thing in all dramas that happens. Characters promise not to lie but they do all the time. And Fairy promised not to go off without telling MS but she does her own thing all the time. LOL.
But when she said that she wasn’t lying about the Bone Orchid being precious to her, she was speaking the truth.
I like the impromptu sort of date and the flower in her hair. I love how they had so many moments together so that in the end, no matter what CH did/offered to do, it was MS who was in her thoughts as the one who had done those things with her first.
@wapz, actually, I never could figure out when Jie Li had been brought in to manage the plans for RH. It did not seem like it was the case from the beginning from something RH and Die Yi said about how JL had run away to the Palace.
However we find that they had gotten her to pledge her allegiance to Haishi. Aside from being assigned to bring Fairy out of the Palace and later contaminating the Bone Orchid, it didn’t seem like JL was doing this double wedding thing in order to help RH.
yes @wapz I haven’t found a new drama that holds my interest since LBF&D but it’s OK. It is nice to do a rewatch in Netflix without the need to find out the ending and the uncertainty of how the leads will end up. Netflix platform is really the best for rewatching! I can skip the intro easily. I can easily choose the scene I want to watch.
Rewatching gives us the chance to see how they carefully set up the plots in the earlier part for later development.

Yes it is very gentle of DF QC to carefully place a delicate flower on Orchid’s hair. Considering he is the type who can kill someone easily. The director and the actors manage to bring out a lot of tenderness in those scenes. It is one form of intimacy I felt.
@Viva, I like that MS became consistently gentle with Fairy.
When he put the flower in and she felt her hair, I thought she was checking that the Heart Hiding Hairpin was still there. LOL.
Aahh the BGM of him and his father together, playing. Such nice heart-wrenching BGM.
Contrast this with the raucous noise around our crude XR LOL. He is really so different from CH. Just as Danyin is totally opposite as a boy. Heheheh!

She hears the flute and realises that this is what she has been waiting for it. Strangely only she can hear it. (Next episode, I thought MS could hear it but he said he heard nothing. So strange. Only RH has that special connection with Chidi so that only WQ can hear it.)
RH plays the plaintive melody from the cliff facing the city of Lu Cheng. The moon is small from where he is.
However Wan Qing stands at her balcony (should be against the backdrop of the moon) with the huge full moon low in the sky.
We will find that it’s the Moon Supreme who is the one to meet her in the end.

It’s strange that she can recall the music from her previous life… and that RH is really playing it in Yun Meng, but no one can hear it, except her.
The music is so sad. She feels heartbroken and wants to kill herself.

Come to think of it, MS is waiting for Mr Right to come to stop WQ from killing herself. It never occurs to him that he is Mr Right… even til the end when Chidi was back, no one ever said ‘Oh, you were the Mr Right!!’ LOL

Ah I remember she’s trying to save Chidi Woman and Devil King goes to the roof. I was laughing first time around because I figured that Chidi was going to fall in love with Devil King.
So after this lifetime Chidi can go back? If she can go back, did RH really need the Goddess?
Did you see that beautiful moon behind DFQC as he stands on the roof? The last I remember of such a beautiful scene was when he entered Haishi to save Orchid. The next will be when he and Orchid meet at the bridge to put the locks. By then both of them in a way are one.
Oh the irony that everyone thinks that the One for is WQ Xiaorun but is DFQC himself.

RH did protect WQ during the time in her mortal world to ensure nothing goes wrong with her tribulations but poor lady, she has been through so much so much! It must have pained him to see her go through such hardship in the mortal world. Probably also experiencing what Chidi felt when she saw him suffering as a child.
When DFQC found Orchid and confronted her about her real intentions he genuinely was angry. Could totally sense his anger. And there he goes threatening to kill Changheng. lolol.
But at least this time both of them know the truth of their intentions in the mortal world, they get to work together to a common goal. That really helps them to draw closer to each other.
I like how DFQC only has to snap his fingers to make magic.
I’m at the part where DFQC takes the memories away, but forgets to take the painting.

Now he and Fairy are going to meet in the street. She’s caught! He knows she’s lying endlessly to protect CH/XR.
MS: “I was worried about your safety. But you’re here to meet Chang Heng secretly.”
He scolds her for lying that she thinks CH is in SYT.
MS : “Do you really think I am a 3-year old child who will be fooled by your tricks? That day in the Life Ending Pavilion I found that CH was also experiencing hardship there. Everything you said and did was to coverup for CH. Even so, I would rather believe it when you said that the Bone Orchid I gave you is priceless.”
(This was an admission that made him vulnerable to her again. Kind of SWOONY considering that he’s jealous and angry, but he’s still saying that he wanted to mean something more to her. However she gets upset and misses that reference.)
F accuses MS : “Yes. I lied to you. What about you? Why did you come to Lu Cheng? You said you came to hang around with me. In fact you are here to take the spirit of the first God of War,
MS : “How did you know?”
F : “I guessed it according to the fate poem.”
MS mockingly : “How smart you are, the head disciple of the Arbiter! Since you are so good at guessing, did you know when Chang Heng’s hardship experience started?”
She’s taken aback by his jealousy and speechless.

Yes, they kept to their original talents, so Fairy was able to impress WQ with getting the Peony to bloom. It was great coincidence that WQ wanted a gardener at the right time.

MS comes to XR’s home, Xiao’s mansion. He recognises Qu Shui/Cricket as Fairy Danyin. Cricket starts to shout that there’s a thief. XR hears the cry.
MS puts Cricket to sleep with a bored expression.
MS speaks with his back to XR : “I came to Lu Cheng, and so did you. We are destined to meet.”
XR runs at MS when he sees that Cricket is unconscious. He is knocked out too and his memory erased.

I love that scene when DFQC confronted Orchid because he couldn’t find her. Those anger, jealously, worry for her is quite swoony.
What would they do without Jie Li… all the ideas came from her. They plans would have worked if MS had not shown up in front of WQ, but then, he really was the destined one so, what to do.
I don’t think that Jie Li at this stage was doing all this to support RH’s plan yet. She was just trying her best to help Fairy and MS and avoid getting killed by him, LOL.
They worry that although XR’s memories of Fairy have been erased, he has not met Xie Wan Qing yet.
Orchid recaps what was supposed to happen but says : “But because Wooden Head and I were careless, (LOL now everyone knows she calls MS Wooden Head!!) they missed each other.”
Jie Li has a mischievous smile on her face : “Oh, because of the two of you, their fates deviated from the Fate Poem?”
SQ has a good question actually : “If CH loves WQ, why would he kill her?”
Fairy too is non-plussed and MS is not pleased that she praises CH “I too find it weird. CH is a person who values love and loyalty. Why would he kill Xie Wan Qing.”
MS has to pick at Fairy’s words sarcastically : “There is someone who values love and loyalty in the fairy realm? This is the first time I’ve heard of it” He’s insulting Fairy too.
Carolina, precisely… if one speaks of the moon in the sky, how can Fairy end up with CH as the Mr Right?!?!
I’m at the part CH wakes up on the ground outside.
Grace, yes the anger, worry thing about losing a person… reminds me of worrying about my kids when they were little and running around in the shopping centre. But in his case, MS was concerned for her safety always.
My favorite part of the episode starts when DFQC walks into class. The facial features, the annoyance, the murdours looks. LOL
DFQC doesn’t want anything with DH but he still manages to drag him through a hole. And you see DFQC run

Orchid teaching DFQC how to get along with others…she still had to teach him so much because he missed out on it

@Carolina, I so agree with you on how Orchid’s deduction gets so twisted? I guess when you are so set on one trajectory, you miss the biggest most obvious spot. it was their blind spot.

EPISODE 22 start
So RH knows that Goddess of Xishan is the way to save Chidi. But at that point he was hesistant because Chidi has a close r/s with them. Obviously Taisui will not agree because he wants Xishan goddess to be gone so he can reign. RH would not have figured it out? It was his downfall that he prioritized Chidi and his own self over everyone else.
Taisui is like the serpant in the garden of eden, making RH feel that his concerns were not a big deal
True Carolina, I always need to rewatch or don’t know what I missesd. Reading subs at the same time does not help!!! There are soooo many Easter eggs in this show.

Grace, Tai Sui really was like the devil in Eden… he started the conversation with RH the way the serpent did. RH should never have entered into dialogue with Evil.
His main lie was that RH had no choice. It was never true but RH was too greedy to look for a good alternative. The best alternative would have been to respect Chidi’s wishes.
The argument Tai Sui spins… and he’s the pot calling the kettle black when he calls RH a liar.
EG : “Liar! You are willing to do anything? You knew how to save her, but you found so many excuses. You just cherish yourself. you don’t want to be sinful and fear the consequences.
RH : “No. No.”
EG : “The fairy of Xishan has special power. It can grow everything. She is the only way to revive the high immortal (Chidi). To take her primordial spirit, and change a life with a life? Your master died to save Shuiyuntian and all beings. What’s wrong with sacrificing a little fairy to save her?”
RH : “Master said she would sacrifice her life to save all beings, before the battle. It’s her destiny. If I disobey my master, it would be disrespectful to her.
EG laughs : “Destiny? If it weren’t for those immortals in Shuiyuntian who were greedy for life and feared death, how could your master give up the carefree days with you in Xishan.”
Tai Sui knows how to play on RH’s greatest weakness ie the desire to keep Chidi to himself.
Even Taisui don’t take well to Shuyuntian people saying that they don’t care about him or feel sad for him. At that point in the flashback of RH, Xilan Tribe was still alive. How is RH stronger and more powerful than the tribe people?
He really didn’t know the heart of his master enough, it is really sad that RH was negating Chidi’s courageous task of sacrificing herself by killing another to save her. It was Chidi’s choice. No one told him how sad and disappointed she would be to have discovered that he killed those she loved for her.
Xilan tribe head: “God of War had a great love and sacrificed for a just cause. If she knew that he disciple massacred the Xilan tribe and forced the goddes to die in order to save her….”
RH: “If it weren’t for her, everyone in the Fairy Realm including the goddess would be long dead. Why can’t a goddess die in exchange for my master?”
(tsk tsk…RH is being so selfish…and wounded here. I wonder if it is because Chidi didn’t tell him ahead of time that she will die, and her death was such a shock to him he can’t accept it)
RH to Evil God : “So you want me to help you refine the evil spirit, kill the fairy, help you get rid of the seal and reappear.”
Either he cooperates or his master dies.
So this is the hook that got RH to the dark side. Over and over again, the problems faced by all these immortals and humans are their inordinate attachments. If someone chose to die, let them go, for heaven’s sake. But he must force her to remain in limbo while he colludes with evil. Chidi suffered so much in her resurrected life because of this.

Chidi needed to sacrifice herself. It was her destiny.
It’s a good parallel to Orchid and DFQC. The themes of sacrifice, love for everyone, loving one person. Putting the needs of the whole before the individual.
Grace, we are not given enough of the backstory to know why RH is so clingy, only that he was super grateful towards his master and fell in love with her as well (I feel). His main problem was selfish greed.
His beginnings were also wrong. As a mortal he had died, but Chidi got him resurrected by changing his Fate on his Destiny Book. In a way, Chidi started the wrong process. She told Siming that she would not regret bringing RH back to life against fate. So I guess it was a twist they had to take for the abnormal choices.

@GB so true, RH really caused Chidi more suffering than needed…in the mortal world, and also in the immortal world but filling her with the evil qi.
It is a case of not being able to grieve and let go and things just goes haywire and evil after that. Which is why, it is important to grieve a loss before the loss becomes a grief in one’s life.

In Yun Meng, MS and Fairy give each other so many non-verbal instructions in their meaningful looks. They can’t say things out loud but they communicate so much.
Fairy realises that WQ has fallen in love with MS at first sight, and is very cross with MS.
She feels bad that WQ sincerely treats her like a friend. Poor WQ has no true friends. I feel so sad for her. She’s the true tragic figure but only a side character.
@grace that’s a great sentiment. To take time to grieve a loss so it doesn’t become a grief in one’s life. Sometimes

LOL MS got it wrong. He encouraged XR to go for his dream love, not knowing that it was Fairy. He even became the supporter and financial supporter for XR’s foolish project to find Fairy with all those huge paintings!! He ended up slapping his own face/shooting himself in the foot, since he hated the thought of XR liking Fairy. Such great irony!!!
MS can’t understand it. “Impossible. I clearly erased the memory of Fairy from his mind. Why does he still remember her?”
Fairy goes out to see who’s making all the noise. She’s stunned to see the portrait of her.
Both Fairy and MS are distracted by the fact that XR is looking for her. LOL XR offers the people Dongfang brother’s money as reward for finding Fairy!!!
Both are jealous of the other having someone else who liked them. What clearer sign of their attachment to each other, but these clueless immortals missed every indication of it!
I’m at the part where RH is about to reveal his important decision. They are toasting.
Both MS and Orchid find out they Chidi and RH are not talking about who they think they are talking.

I love DFQC’s and XR’s interactions here. It really smoothened the prickles on DFQC to accept CH better.
Orchid is jealous when WQ mentions the person she likes is DFQC. Unconscious reactions is the revelation on the inner self. Also love how their time in the mortal world helped DFQC and Orchid experience real jealously because of another person, especially Orchid. It was easy for her to take DFQC for granted and she really needed to understand how much he means to her.
I’m at the part where MS very reluctantly agrees to be best brothers with XR. LOL the expression on his face and how he hides his face behind one hand to rub his forehead.
The cute drum music BGM that denotes they are being dumb LOL.
DFQC looks and exasperation while RH talks.

RH actor is good in this area. He does a good job on his expressions as well. He looks goofy most of the time.
Grace, yes the experiences in Yun Meng helped these characters grow a lot faster than if they’d remained in the immortal realm. They needed to see how seriously mortals took life and all its big moments like weddings and death, how they took immediate action because life was short for them, and learn not to take so much for granted, because they didn’t have 10s of 1,000s of years to smooth things out.
That look of helplessness when XR was saying that DFQC can help pay for the rewards. And then being sworn brothers…all that grudgingness that DFQC’s expressing is so laughable.
DFQC will also hold to the promise even in the immortal realm to share blessings and difficulties.
@Carolina, they really use this technique really well, all the ironies, and misunderstandings all work so well.
So interesting how even Jieli is attracted to QuShui because of their connection as sisters. Though it brings quite some jealously for SQ.
Carolina, I find the actor Zhang Linghe quite hot actually, but he was a really goof in his role as XR. He didn’t mind looking like a fool.
LOL, I can’t stand it that XR is so physically clingy. He’s forever holding on to MS’s shoulder or leaning against him etc. Poor MS just bears with it. What horror for the mighty Moon Supreme Lord.

F : “Moon Supreme Lord. A thief cries out to catch a thief. What about you? What did you do to Lady WQ on the night of the Lantern Festival? She really cares about you and talks about you all the time.”

What is destined is destined. XR and WQ just do not meet each other although they pass within feet of each other. But MS and Fairy are in close contact and very aware of each other in the cabinet LOL.
Still they end up meeting the ones they hid from. What a mess LOL.
Hahaha…yeah he character changed really well as XR. His next drama Story of Kunning Palace would be coming out next year as main role, might want to check it out.
When Orchid and DFQC run into each other at the corridor, I loved how both of them had the same upset at each other expression. They really are so attractive that they attracted the people they don’t want to attract! 😛
Their quibbling is really cute and that closeness they really experienced in the cupboard is that swoony moment when their hearts were probably beating really fast.
Yeah, I like the unspoken Swoony moments when they stare at each other not knowing how they are feeling but getting hot and embarrassed. Such kids, these 1,000 – 30,000 year olds.

EPISODE 23 REWATCH STARTS HERE!!!
The sound of the crickets in the Donfang Mansion’s garden reflects the unfruitful state of mind of the occupants of the mansion who are wracking their brains on how to get out of the mess which they think they caused. LOL.
Fate’ did really play out in Yun Meng. Chang Heng who was destined to marry the Goddess, really marries her in Yun Meng according to the Tianji Mirror. And Chidi was fated to be killed by her husband so who else could it be but MS who had tried to kill her before 30K years ago. Also Shang Que’s question that was dismissed was a good one … why should XR kill WQ if he loved her.
If they had thought it through, they’d have figured out that it was because it should not be XR who ended up with WQ, but someone who was capable of killing her, someone like MS who was clearly not in love with her.
Their best laid plans to bring XR and WQ together without being seen by the wrong party has fallen through and although they tried not to spoil the CH’s/XR’s and Chidi’s/WQ’s tribulation experience, they think (wrongly) that their very presence seems to have done that.
They are so stuck in thinking that XR should be the one to kill WQ that when he dies and WQ dies, they can only conclude that the tribulation experience had failed, but actually, it was a resounding success… especially for evil RH.

JL finds Qu Shui interesting, because he’s an idiot like his master but SQ wants to be the dumbest one like she used to call him. “I’m the most stupid person in the three realms.” LOLOL. *Yeah sure, congrats Shang Que*
MS and Fairy tell them to be quiet at the same time. One of the things they are on the same page on!
This episode, Fairy finds that she has quite a task trying to get MS to believe that she’s no longer interested in Chang Heng. Not sure exactly when it was… but Fairy had already come to the conclusion that she did not like CH romantically after all.
@GB so true, they have been so fixated on their own version of her fate that they were blind to other possibilities. It’s just like how they are so fixated on what they saw in the Tianji Mirror, they didn’t take into account the bigger picture. Which really goes to show us to see things in context, there is always more to what we see. Or that what we see is not always what it is.
Even Jieli ans SQ are being jealous of each other. Who strives to be more stupid? 😆
And these ppl, why do they think just surface make up will make someone not like the other? It’s so shallow isn’t it? Like how DFQC thinks that if he changes into CH, Orchid will be happy.
I found it funny the modern guitar music when MS made Fairy ugly LOL. I didn’t notice it before.
When Fairy is about to leave to meet Xiao Run, MS accompanies her to the door. He hands her a bag of food. (Very thoughtful of him. It was mentioned in a Tweet or post before that this was something he learnt from her when she sent him off in the boat ie he learnt to send someone off with food and not empty handed. In the Cyn-lynn blog, several instances of learning from each other was listed.)
He continues to give her a whole bunch of instructions, like a possessive boyfriend. JL observes it all knowingly.
Fairy leans in to look at MS’s face : “Moon Supreme Lord, why are you so weird today? Why are you so talkative and overcautious? Are you so worried about me?”
MS can’t look her in the eye : “You talk too much.” As she’s about to go he tells her to wait and puts the bag of food carefully over her head. He watches after her like a worried parent/insecure lover.
JL sighs and shakes her head, but says nothing.
Yes, there is a theme in this Show of how not to judge books by their covers… a comment on the need to go beyond the surface. Just like how the Moon Tribe and the SYT people just stick to stereotypes and prejudice instead of getting to know the other party.
The other aspect was how false history was written about the great war and how Fairy made up tales not based on fact to entertain. Going beyond the obvious to find out the truth was not considered important.
Poor Orchid…beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder, there is no way she is able to make XR dislike her.
I love how DFQC acts so gentle with her. It is the same pretense that is so real like how he does the things for her saying it doesn’t have any meaning.
Look at XR’s very shocked expression. That was gold!
I liked how Orchid smiled when DFQC asked why she is still angry with him. The part when she said why he is still holding her hand after they have gone so far. She’s secretly enjoying this right?

F whispers: “What are you doing?”
MS acting very well : “The floor is cold. Be careful honey.” He whispers “Don’t move.”
Fairy is concerned about what XR thinks of MS’s actions and throws XR a glance. XR is shocked that MS has the audacity to touch Fairy intimately.
She’s shocked and so is XR.
She moves her face inches from his as a means to look a question at him.
MS whispers to her to not move. So she obediently keeps mum.
MS : “My wife has been married to me for three years.”
F in horror to MS : “Who married you?”
MS enjoys putting on a great show, he holds her shoulders : “Honey, why are you still angry with me? You’re pregnant and it’s not been easy. I shouldn’t have made you angry. I know I was wrong. etc. etc…”

She points out all the suffering, separation and rebellion that had gone on because of war.
She does not want war at all. he asked how about the losses of the past and the sealed men. She realises that he has a different mission as the MS.
Fairy thinks to herself : “I grew up in SYT. However he is the Moon Supreme of Cangyan Sea. People of the Moon Tribe and Fairies can’t …” The thought of them not allowed to be together upsets her and she stops herself.

(So at this stage they are still not on the same page, and not aware that they’ve already fallen in love with each other. Or maybe Fairy sort of knows … anyway they are still ready to let each other go.)
Carolina, I did feel a bit bad for XR. He’s a fool but he did love quite sincerely both as CH and as XR. He just crumpled into a heap. Now he is going to go off for 3-5 years because of a broken heart.

Real wish and goal of DFQC, it is the mission he was born with and I’m glad it is something he clearly let Orchid know.
“My wish is to destroy Shuiyuntian, kill all those hypocritical immortals, and tell my father the good news. Then I’ll unify the three realms so that the people of Cangyan Sea will suffer less from disease, disaster, and harm, and never suffer the pain of separation. But I will do these by myself.”
He is so powerful, he knows he can do anything, give her anything, do anything for her. This part is so swoonworthy too. “If I am happy, I might fulfill your wish. … I always keep my word.” This gotta go into DFQC appreciation thread. What he says, he can do it, despite all the threats he gives, he doesn’t go back on his sincere word and is reliable on issues that matter.
Yeah one of those aspects of MS that should go into the Appreciation thread.
XR : “When I thought I was not fated to be with Orchid, I was empty inside.” He notes that her makeup is refreshing and elegant that day, however what he said to her, the day her makeup was weird was also sincere: “I’ll give you whatever you want in the future.” MS shouts at him to shut it.
(These are the same sentiments that MS has. He sees that these sentiments led XR to propose marriage. It finally occurs to MS that he could be in love with Fairy too. I guess it’s excusable for him since his emotional root had been cut off when he was a teenager, so he is not sure how to interpret his feelings. I imagine that Fairy knew how she felt, but she held back, because MS was the ‘enemy’ of her friends.)

(So this is when he can identify his feelings more accurately.)
I like the lantern festival. The colors, they switch a bit when the conversation switches to their wishes. It’s a warmer tone.

Somehow Orchid felt she won’t be with him because of their differences in their loyalities. But she wished
DFQC’s wish : Orchid, I want you to stay by my side forever.
Orchid’s wish: Big blockhead, although I can’t stay with you forever, I hope you will always be safe and happy, surrounded by friends, brothers, loyalty, and love, and never lonely again.
Awww….he will eventually. I guess that gives us hope that their wishes will come true.

MS is full of disapproval over the plan of Jie Li to trick XR and WQ into ‘fake’ marriages in order to fulfill the Fate Poem, especially where it involves Fairy marrying XR. He walks off in a huff. Fairy runs after him, calling him Moon Supreme Lord.
F : “At a time like this, can’t you take care of the overall situation? (she wants him to have a helicopter view.)”
MS as usual nowadays is reacting emotionally : “Are you so eager to marry XR? Wait, I should say Chang Heng.”

F protests : “I’m trying to save both of their lives. Besides don’t you also want the plan to succeed?”
MS : “My plan will not be built on a marriage. I’m not as casual as you are.”
She takes issue at being called casual. I guess in some areas he’s more formal than she is, but she was very proper about their not sharing the same room.
WQ comes to propose marriage. MS is about to go and tell WQ to forget the idea… When Fairy calls him MS Lord and begs him, it does not work.
But when Fairy shouts at him him “Wooden Head, you stay there!” and orders him to be silent, MS is held by the Heart Curse so that he can’t do anything except what Fairy tells him ie to shut up and meet WQ with her, LOL.
He’s totally dumb the whole day. But Fairy does not even realise that he can’t speak and not that he won’t.
I had to stop for a bit. My youngest is still sick and woke up already.
I haven’t finished yet. Will stay for a few to catch up.
MS is walking wondering about his feelings. “Is this love?”
Wait: why is the scene with what’s his face name and all the dead people there? I missed something.
I love that swoony line about MS only marrying the girl she loves. I wondered about that line originally. I didn’t make sense to me why he spoke that way. How does he know love? But this is after the walk where he is recognizing what is love. So he figures it out.

MS is being uncooperative and won’t look at the ladies. He only turns around to look at Fairy and WQ in protest when Fairy lies that they were just speaking of proposing marriage to WQ. Look at his expression LOL. And Fairy says he’s blushing but it’s out of anger and not embarrassment LOL.
Hahah..here is where the Heart Curse is so useful. But look at that death stare DFQC is giving Orchid. Now Orchid’s turn to be jealous.
Their quibbling really reveals their true feelings for each other.
Orchid finally admits she likes him and the only thing separating them is their status and differing mission.
Carolina, yes, this show does ironies so well. Just when MS discovers he’s in love with Fairy, he’s made to marry WQ LOLOL. No wonder he’s so frustrated at the whole situation.
I’m now at the part where Fairy is being jealous that he didn’t protest against marrying WQ verbally, …she never realised that the Heart Curse gave her power to keep him totally obedient and silent!!

Yeah Grace, and just because Fairy was jealous and said he ‘also’ wanted to marry WQ, he thinks the ‘also’ means she wants to marry XR. The whole day in silence that was his only thought/worry LOLOL.

In the covered cart ride, Fairy is distracted and unhappy. She asks WQ what a person should do if they are in love with someone who is a member of the enemy family. WQ says no matter what, the love that is so hard to find, should take precedence.
(Fairy takes these words to heart later when she is the one to propose marriage to MS. Perhaps she followed WQ’s direct action in proposing to the man first.).
Fairy says that the person is someone with a great mission that he cannot give up. But WQ says her answer is the same. “How many people in this world can meet their true love? … If they do, they must not give up.”
MS asks poor SQ how he is compared to CH. SQ notes that MS had never asked that kind of question before.

MS admits : “I never really thought that I would worry about not being able to compete with others. When CH was God of War, he was no match for me in terms of strength or strategy, and spirit. Now that he’s become a mortal, he’s even more stupid and dumb, eating his head off. Why does Orchid still want to marry him? Do you think she’s out of her mind?”
SQ can’t answer and MS comes to his own conclusion. “That’s not true. She’s not smart either.” (LOL in this area of relationships, she’s lightyears ahead of MS.)
MS thinks to himself : “She cares about CH and protects him from anyone’s bullying. Even if he’s now a mortal with no power at all, she still…”
MS worries … “Am I that inferior to Chang Heng?”
MS gets Jie Li to ask Fairy whom she likes but Fairy does not give a clear answer, except that even before she had been formed, she was in love with/had a crush on CH. … “I don’t like DFQC anyway. I’m not the kind of person who constantly changes her mind.”
The guys get a confusing lesson from JL in how to not understand women or understand the opposite of what they say LOLOL. No way a male brain can get that kind of logic heheheheh!
Jie Li suggests that MS uses the Heart Curse to find out how Fairy feels. He merely has to remove the Jade Ring and replace the real Heart Hiding Hairpin with a fake one. He decides to do as suggested.
Now it’s SQ’s turn to be frustrated. He asks if Jie Li was also saying the opposite of what she means when she said she didn’t like him. JL says she’s not like other girls.
SQ asks her to tell him clearly so that he can understand. JL has a bunch of conflicting thoughts going on in her mind. (We still do not know if she has been contacted by Die Yi before this and if she’s acting as a spy for Haishi yet. I think she is by this stage, maybe just before they went to Yun Meng.)
@GB that’s so true about Orchid being ahead in the relationship area.
I like the scene with Orchid and Jeili talking. Like buddies and teen type of conversation.

@Carolina, I wonder if it is a disconnect between their rational and emotional self? It is true to his blockheadedness, not being able to recognize what love is but yet unconsciously expresses love for her. I think it is different when someone else says it, like seeing it from a different perspective.
We see here that the heart curse only lasts till the end of the day!
DFQC is just not seeing the task they have to do, it is so hard when the person he likes need to act being married to the person he can’t stand.
He and Shangque are really blockheads!! They really can’t read between the lines and that Orchid’s pause when she was asked if she liked DFQC was a clear sign she liked him but is not ready to admit it. I’m glad Jieli could see through it and convince DFQC that Orchid has feelings
JL acknowledges that SQ is not dumb but too straightforward and clean-hearted. He’s not like her.
SQ : “What’s the difference? I think my heart and your heart are the same.”

JL needs to protect SQ from falling for her. She says she has no heart. Her heart and soul were pawned away and she she does not believe in feelings, she only believes in/trusts money. She wants to have shops all over the 3 realms to feel safe. “As for the rest, I don’t want to think about it.” JL is cynical but lonely.
She says she won’t like anyone at all in her life. SQ is sad. He says he does not understand. JL looks like she feels bad for him as well and sad for herself, but walks away resolutely.
At the same time Jieli while having all the emotions, chose to not to express the emotions on the outside and hide all of it instead. She lives with a mask to hide her own true feelings.
@GB of course women are complicated are so hard to understand that’s why these guys are so confused.
All those flashbacks Orchid have of DFQC, really shows that they shared so many memorable moments together. It just makes it more poignant how they really have

I was going to say so poignant as to how many sweet moments they have together. No wonder she can no longer enjoy CH’s company. It is so true that feelings can change. Jieli is the perfect Aunt Agony.
I thought my daughter was getting better this week, but apparently she woke up with a pretty bad cough. CA weather is not the best when it’s “cold” one day/mornings and blasting hot the next.

Fairy is uninterested in everything that XR shows her. Unfortunately for him, MS had inadvertently beaten him in the ‘dating’ game.
When he suggests buying cakes, this reminds Fairy of the time she burnt her fingers taking the steamed cakes for MS.
Seeing a flower seller reminds her of how MS had placed a flower in her hair.
Even the mention of a boat ride reminds her of the time she said she’d miss MS when she had sent him off in the boat, and said goodbye to him.

MS had not changed the hair pin in the end and does not know what she’s thinking/feeling.
MS tries to justify it to SQ : “Orchid always says I’m superior, high and mighty, and don’t understand her heart. I don’t believe that if I don’t rely on the Heart Curse, I won’t understand what she’s thinking” (He frowns and sighs. Actually, I guess, he wanted to respect her wish for privacy. He loved her that much.)
We see MS leaning against his Love Tree on very green island and the tree is fully in bloom with white leaves/flowers
Fairy recalls how she had felt happy to get the attentions of CH long ago, when he had praised her. She’d waxed lyrical on maybe with the fireflies turning up at the same time, she was destined to be with CH. However MS who was listening to her at that time, practically smashed his tea cup onto the table in annoyance
(He was already jealous from so long ago). The memory of MS of that time makes Fairy smile. MS in the present mistakes her smile to be because she has received the Firefly Stone and is upset.
MS says : “Every time she sees Chang Heng, she smiles. All she feels is sadness when I’m around. That’s right. I always leave her alone, I’m mean to her. I always make her cry. It’s only natural that she dislikes me.”

Fairy is with XR but everything reminds her of MS and she misses him. When she catches a glimpse of him striding away, she leaves XR, in a rush to catch MS.
What a sign of her blossoming devotion. She probably didn’t like him to keep being jealous, and she wanted to look at the moon with him.
@Carolina, yeah the cold weather doesn’t help with the cough, especially when the weather changes is drastic. My littlest also caught a cold and has been caught having a phelgmy cough and has been talking hoarsely. Which is interesting because she isn’t talking as much for a chatterbox. It has been a bit quiet 😅
I love Orchid’s realisation that she prefers DFQC over CH.
@GB, JL needed to protect SQ from her. She doesn’t want SQ to suffer because of her so she is drawing her boundaries early, even if it means denying her feelings for him.
F to MS : “Are you really going to enjoy the moon with WQ?”
“Yes. What’s wrong?”
“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t go?” (Fairy had been anticipating that they’d moon gaze together.)
MS : “I’ve changed my mind.”
Fairy does not like it and tells him not to go.

(Perhaps it’s also partly to make up for this, that later on at the Canglan Sea Mountain Moon Festival, MS planned to meet Fairy on the bridge to look at the full moon at its largest. The love locks were an extra! 🙂 )
Grace, yes, JL is very conflicted about SQ. He’s so sweet and lovable but she knows she shouldn’t let him get attached to her. It’s too late, though. By the time anyone discovers how they feel, they all in too deep.
JEALOUSY
Fairy is thinking of returning the Magic Firefly Stone. She’s not aware that MS is watching her.
MS accuses her of being sentimental over the stone and so excited over the wedding that she can’t sleep.
MS : “Even if it’s a gift from Chang Heng, you don’t have to hold it in your hand all day long.”
F retorts : “I can’t believe you remembered to return to the Night Stream Building. The moon is shining at this time. Why didn’t you drink and enjoy the moon until dawn with the beautiful lady? Wouldn’t it have been better?” (It seems he left early.)
MS : “I was just faking it. You should be the one who wants to enjoy the moon until dawn, right?”
She’s angry but says nothing.
MS : ‘Why? You’re so excited about getting married to CH that you can’t fall asleep?” (She’d probably been waiting for MS to return.)

Fairy draws breath : “That’s a reminder. I haven’t tried on the wedding crown yet.”
MS also says he’ll try on the wedding dress, and takes his leave calling her formally “Fairy Orchid.” LOL.
(These two petty, jealous people. She should have said that she wanted to look at the moon with him. There was still time!)
She thinks : “You’re the biggest idiot in the 3 Realms.” the words could have been addressed to herself. 😉
I love that DFQC chose not to invade Orchid’s privacy and take a short cut to read into her heart. It takes a lot more effort and in a way while he won’t know for sure, he is learning to read her for real. His emotions and love for her is in full bloom. This is a swoonworthy moment and something to add for DFQC appreciation.
Poor DFQC feels dejected that Orchid prefers CH to him. And so goes to meet WQ to spite her. In a way, I’m glad that Orchid also feels the sting DFQC felt.
Grace, I felt that there were instances where he showed more sensitivity about how she was not feeling happy, than he’d have normally been aware of. And those times he was wearing the ring and she was wearing the Heart Hiding Hairpin.
His respect for Fairy makes him a super wonderful boyfriend.
Well that brings us to the end of the episode. 12 more to go!!!
The new thread for Eps 25-30 is up. 🙂 I think with this rewatch, I’m slowly getting LBFD out of my system and can start watching other shows. It’s taking quite a while. It ended in August!
I like that scene and yet I don’t like it – where they are both in the garden talking to each other and being jeoulous.
For the one part, it shows they both have growing feelings for each other and hint to each other their desire to spend time together, but they are deaf to each other because they are jealous and it’s too early to admit their feelings for each other.
I don’t like this scene for the exact reason. Orchid should just have said something. Even though she has a good handle on relationships and feelings, she fails to express her own feelings to MS.

Anyways, I put LBFD and lots of jewelry came up as well as some costumes. I usually dress up for Halloween with he kids. This year I’m debating between Elizabeth Bennet or Orchid LOL not that the kids will know who Orchid is.

@Carolina, I also felt the same angst as you when Fairy doesn’t want to say her true feelings. But I think it may be too early for her because she has finally come to terms with her feelings for him and she is being wary of being committed to saying it for real. So she is avoiding it till she can be sure. Was it after the battle with the SYT people that caused her to really openly tell confess to him?
@GB yes, DFQC is patient, and really that respect for her. Though he knows he is Goddess Xishan right? Not that he cared about her status but he really cared for her sincerely.

Grace, I reviewed what possibly transpired in Fairy’s mind over her attachment to MS.
In the freezing cold cave, just before Yun Meng, Fairy had rejected MS’s offer for her to be with him forever, and they had been adamant that they would not give up their aims/principles for the other.
They had also clearly stated that they would be enemies once he started killing her friends in SYT. So as long as he did not seem to object any further to marrying WQ, she had too much pride to be the first to confess her love. They were still at the stage where they said or thought they were ready to give up the other person, when push came to shove.
You’re right that it was at the battle against SYT that Fairy showed by her actions, rather than by her words, that she was going to defend MS against SYT and that she chose him over going back home. It was an eye-opener for herself too, maybe.
Once this became clear to MS, he became determined to marry her, but funnily enough, he made a public declaration of this to his people, but had not said so in words to her yet. I believe that he meant to tell her on the bridge at the Mountain Moon Festival night, but because of the Bone Devouring Spikes, he didn’t get to say anything or to tie the love-locks on the bridge.
The next day he recovered enough and was about to propose to her but she beat him to it. She had somehow had time to make that flower bracelet for him already, which means that upon return to Cangyan Sea, she had already decided to stick with him, and was waiting for an opportunity to propose. She was finally sure after Yun Meng Lake, and didn’t hesitate.
I believe that she took Xie Wan Qing’s advice to heart about pursuing true love without compromise. So she followed WQ’s example and proposed to MS first.
Lovely, isn’t it, how the romance plot still holds good after dissecting it. 🙂

yes the items on Etsy are expensive. You can find local deals sometimes but they carry more unique items then I would say Amazon. I’ve used them for custom cookies.
My little girl is still sick but doing better. That cough just doesn’t want to go away. Mornings tend to be hard for her. My son go it but his cough went away quickly.

Hi @carolina, I’m sorry to hear that your daughter still has the cough. We too used to get the – what we call – ‘hundred days’ cough’ after any flus. But what I’ve learnt to do is to start really early to take throat soothing food/drinks/herbal stuff when I begin to feel that my throat may get itchy or sore. I also gargle with either lightly salted water or mouthwash to keep the germ-load down. I may still get the flu part of the infection, but my throat can resist it better and the cough does not start or stay long.
About the LBFD romance, you’re welcome about the writing out what this ‘couple’ might have been thinking. I like things to make sense and writing out the ‘possible scenario’ as if they are real people helps me see if there are plot holes. It’s the next best thing to having someone like yourself or @grace here with me to verbally talk it out with! 😆
