Whoops. I posted the wrong date. Wait a sec….
***************
Just edited the date. Don’t mind me; I don’t even know what city and country I’m in. See you later. 🙂
@pkml3 Thanks for the thread but I believe the time is wrong for PST and EST lol. 🧐 ⏰ ⌚ 🤔 🧐 ⏰ ⌚ 🤔
They should be an hour later because of the Daylight Savings.
🧐 ⏰ ⌚ 🤔 🧐 ⏰ ⌚ 🤔
😂😂
Just tell me the times, @GB and I’ll edit again.
@pkml3
It should be:
6.30am PST
9.30am EST
Thank you so much. I hope your sense of time and space returns to normal after some rest!!!
😁
@GB,
Are you following your Singapore time (9:30pm)? If so, then it’ll be 9:30 am EST and 6:30 am PST.
😂 We’re posting at the same time, @GB.
Hang on. Will edit the thread.
Done!
LOL @pkml3 Every few minutes I drop by as I watch a cdrama and see you’ve posted again! Yes. We’ve got the date and time right for now. I have to check again next weekend because France and England will have Daylight Savings on Sunday 26th March. I hope that’s the last of it!!!
Hi Pm3 & GB.
See you tomorow for the rewatch. 😉
Hi @WE, like the proverbial bad penny, I have turned up here again, but not as one unwanted I trust!!
See you in 5 minutes!
Morning all.
Good morning @SD! Bright and early. Had coffee yet?
Waiting to start!
Hi @FF! I didn’t get the notification that you’d come in. I have to check again.
Hi people!!
OK Everyone, it looks like we start at about now!!! Let’s go!!!
Hi @GB! Only instant. Still groggy. We had our very first post-COVID dinner party last night. Still in recovery mode (ha ha).
Hi there @WE! Just in time!
This episode we see Hee Ju do a lot of running about. Titillating?
@SD Congrats on beating Covid! Did it take you long to recover?
We see only the suspension of the quest here but we don’t know how long it has been between NPC Seo’s disappearance and this time of JW waiting to be ‘killed’.
Hi @GB. We didn’t have COVID, just been super careful due to my husband’s cancer diagnosis (looks like he is nearly fully recovered)>
She save the hero because:
– she speak on the phone.
– she know to speak spanish.
– she work hard and could work as a guide. *
🙂
* : this job was decided while creating the plot-twist. lol.
That’s great news @SD! Congratulations!!
Yes, indeed @WE. It would be unconscionable for the Writer to forget to give HJ a job that would have her helping the hero!
HJ actually saved JW in the game because he had given up the fight in the dark dungeons. The game says an outside light source is not allowed. She’s the outside source of light for JW who is in the darkness.
Like the huge artwork of the church entryway into peace that showed up behind Park last episode, HJ symbolises the other alternative to Se Ju’s and JW’s game. Instead of endless battles in reality (against Cha, Yu Ra, Park etc) she offered peace and a sanctuary.
After the darkness of the dungeons, JW walks out in the clear, bright day. But he walks through killing virtual enemies falling dead around him, to the real dead body of his friend Sec Seo.
I do love the scenes of IT panic when all the servers are shut down.
The CEo mentioned servers, shutting all servers Granada, Seoul, all.
Park declares that the servers have to remain offline until an error in the game can be sorted, but an error is such a mild word for the supernatural ability of AI to connect itself directly to the brain of JW.
Now we come to the saddest scene. Hyun Bin’s expression as he looks at Sec Seo breaks my heart.
After shock scene with a great sad music.
@SD, true. Poor tech crew.
The view of the server room with rows of shelves/computers reminds me of the artwork of the church aisle with many arches. So many layers in. One room led to death, the other? Hopefully to eternal life?
@GB, I agree. Hyun Bin masters that subtlety of expression. You have a sense of both loss and guilt.
@FF, Yes, there were servers controlled from Seoul. Servers for Granada and Seoul and goodness knows where else. Shutting them down gave JW a chance to rest.
@WE I like all the appropriate music of MOTA except THAT song. And this episode has it played more than once now and again later.
ahah. I’ve a scene in a morgue in ep 30.
The ending is stunning. But not the same way than here. Thanks to the rewrite, I made this ending instead of the previous one.
Oh looks like now it plays your favorite song. lol.
Hee Ju is able with one call and 1 phrase ‘I miss you’ to get Jin Wu to return her call. He would not have bothered otherwise, I think. He felt guilt over Se Ju and now over Sec Seo.
@WE, you wrote in a morgue scene? Did it have pathos or did you turn it into something else.
@GB, that song again …. haha teasing you. My heart is you ….
It’s nice of HJ to absolve JW of the responsibility of searching for SJ.
But he’s so stubborn and adamant about completing the game or the quest to find Se Ju.
Here a moment when the hero is at the bottom of the hole. He failed during his quest!
@FF, unfortunately that song is going to play again later because we have HJ scenes or couple scenes…. cringe*
@WE I was thinking the same thing. The hero’s failure in the quest and his unwillingness to be reunited with the heroine.
@WE SJJ made scene after scene in this episode where it looked like JW reached the bottom but we find that he still had not hit rock bottom yet.
I can’t imagine that JW could have reached Seoul from Granada within just a few hours.
It’s crazy, he teleported in korea while the other CEO is still in grenada at the morgue.
Now the scene I don’t understand when he’s fired. Doesn’t he have most parts of the company?
@SD @WE
He fell lower each time…
failed the quest
fights with Park over the phone and loses
is considered really crazy by Park
won’t be obeyed by the Tech Team
ends up unconscious and slapped by Prof Cha
Poor JW. And he still has not hit bottom yet.
@GB. I had the same thought, but realized he could have been flying back as Mr. Park and HJ were flying out. Although the hospital room still would not make sense…. I think time is compressed in this episode a bit (or …)
@GB:
Spain – Korea by car : 30 minutes.
Grenada – Barcelona by train : 14 hours.
How did JW appear in Seoul so fast? He needs at least 13 hours isn’t it? And after the servers are up he has to fly back to Granada to continue the game? Doesn’t make sense to fly.
@GB: thanks for the list.
Yeah, nice accumulation.
I takes note. Need to torture more my characters.
@WE @SD, yes, the impossibility of him leaving the hospital without being found out earlier and being in Seoul when Park and HJ just arrived in Granada… not explainable.
I never understood why Prof Cha had the overriding say in the company when it was supposed to be set up by the younger generation. Maybe Cha provided the funds and had more than 50% of the shares.
I do like the scene cuts though: the surprises: Oh wait, that’s the Seoul skyline; Oh wait the guards let him go back unattended (Huh?) and find the next item…. but the surprises are a bit illogical.
@FF my thoughts exactly. He couldn’t just make the call, but the show needed him to be in Seoul for the next scenes with Prof Cha.
We needed to see Cha slapping him and blaming him the same way he blamed his son. Cha never took responsibility. He always says it’s the other person who was at fault and that he was badly used by them.
@WE LOL good calculation of traveling times by different forms of transportation!! I must travel by car more often and get around the world in a few minutes!
Hi all! Good misdirection here. We originally think JW’s quest had failed and now learn midway through this ep that JW had reached end of tunnel, found an item telling him to level up to 100 in order to continue. He needs servers back on to do so. Game not over!
The scene with prof Cha is almost a monologue during a long time. But there is shots on JW face. So I suppose the script was made with that too (blank lines with expression), while a western screenplay would just throws the monologue in one go.
Hi @LL, yes… precisely. We never realised until much later in this episode that the suspension of the quest was not all that happened… there was something more that would lead on to another quest.
We are left hanging wondering what next?
The other CEO is still stuck in the morgue during all that, lol!
@LL, oh yes … I missed that.
@SD, yes, so many things are thrown in at the same time… maybe the show hoped we wouldn’t notice the strange convergence of time and space where JW could be somewhere else.
@WE, the other CEO should have jumped into a car and driven to Seoul in 30 minutes.
Prof Cha is a complete narcissist. Everything is always and only about him. Interesting that the actor can portray two such evil characters (W and here) in such completely different ways.
Flash info, like the whole info was on Jin-Woo.
By chance, every character watch that. aaah.
🙂
Prof cha raise his hand, so…
… everybody do that too.
@GB, WE, Prof Cha is most likely the major shareholder with majority voting rights. He came up with the funds to start the company and let the boys run the company. He can then call for emergency meeting and motion to remove the CEO.
@GB: look, finally he did too!
Coming at the company by car. ahahaha.
@feifei, yeah, you are right. I guess it’s like that, but “of course”, red-herring, we don’t know it when the drama start.
@SD, yes the evil character actor is so good. I couldn’t recognise him here.
Now we come to the collage of sad scenes ie memories of Sec Seo as JW dreams (after the funeral). Sec Seo cries so much this episode LOL. I wonder why he was so scared or so worried? Hee Ju cries a lot and so does he. Are sincere tears a sign of ‘good’ people for this show?
After shock scene. (I call it like that).
THere isn’t really that in western show.
Insist more on the sadness and doing it sucessfully.
@FF, yes, sounds about right about Cha being the majority shareholder. He always seems to have the veto power.
LoL both men are crying in the hospital. Sec Seo’s tears made JW cry as well. That was one year previously.
Drinking solve the problems, of course. lol.
And the girl come in such a mess. aaayya.
But it’s okay in korea. 😉
@WE, I guess this is the second time HJ comes into JW’s home when he’s a mess.
Now she’s going to badger him to go out and celebrate her birthday. It’s a wise move to get him to eat. Otherwise he just drinks to go to sleep. Very unhealthy.
Is this the episode where they will kiss?
This is the strangest way of ‘becoming’ a girlfriend… just because they are to celebrate a birthday, they had to have a ‘romantic love’ relationship.
He lies that he didn’t know he’d ruined her other birthday. We know he knew she was running after his train. I presume he does not want her to have any delusions about his caring about her feelings. But he does not know about her tenacity.
Here, he’s a cad. ahah.
Sounds like the scene end like that.
But let’s see what’s coming next when he wakes up.
@FF yes, kisses galore in the last scene.
Yeah, she’s still here. Well twisted scene.
Gosh! I would like to get that under my skin.
@WE I believe this is the first scene where I’ve seen JW really eating something. He usually only drank.
HJ just abandoned home on her birthday for a not boyfriend who decided to suddenly become her boyfriend LOL.
@GB, yeah, it’s weird, but I should say: original, unexpected, so… the best way? ^^
@WE, LOL. he says she’s dumping him within an hour after playing with his heart Good one!
I have been stuck this entire scene on why he is dressed in a suit and why he went to bed with a tie on (!)
Additional problem: why should he go out of the country now?!
@SD, the black tie and black jacket suggest that he’d returned from Sec Seo’s funeral and had not changed out of his clothes. He’d just drunk himself to sleep. Maybe he’d been like that for over a day by the time HJ got there.
@Salteddust. LOL. I didn’t see that. But looks like a prop mess? Crazy.
@SD, he drinks himself to sleep and he didn’t change out.
@WE, Now we see how Cha treats poor Su Jin as Park warns JW against Prof Cha.
Park seems to think that JW will get less hurt if he’s not in Korea to face the wrath of the public.
Introduce this scene with train flashback.
So, the first kissing scene is now, and as a last scene of episode.
@WE so we can add to the list of torturing your protagonists…
lose family
lose one friend like a brother who people think he killed
lose another friend like a brother in the game
lose man whom he’d regarded like a father
lose company
lose faith of his partner
stand like a fool in the rain LOL.
As usual it’s HJ who comes to shelter him. Instead of the guy, it’s the girl who brings the umbrella.
“give me the proof that you trust me”.
oh oh oh oh
@WE, yes, and THAT song again that makes the scene too saccharine sweet… cringe*
Yes, so there is just one person who believes in him. He can stay in Korea. Is that the only way to prove that she believes in him??? 😂
The roles are reversed here, the man ask the woman to prove her love to him.
That’s a nice line: “I’m surprised I haven’t hit rock bottom. I’m still falling.”
LOL the kiss… nothing changed he says… but not true. He has changed and is no longer the entitled, arrogant CEO.
Why drop the umbrella? *sigh* So wet!!
@GB, I can’t win on accumulation. But I compensate that with how intense is the torturing. lol.
The umbrella falls.. Because out of a too strong emotions. Yo!!
@WE you’re incorrigible. I haven’t watched ‘The Glory’… heard that the bullying was too much to watch.
@SD… in the end I don’t think he did hit rock bottom. He just disappeared LOL. Unless losing physical presence in reality is considered rock bottom?
@WE are you going to add falling umbrellas into your script? I don’t mind if it was accidentally dropped but deliberately let go kind of irritates me.
@GB, how to kiss with one hand holding the umbrella? Must be fully into the kiss, cannot do it half heartedly.
@FF LOL. I felt that he was already holding on to her well enough. All she needed to do was hold on with one arm and use her lips. Why not retain the shelter of the umbrella? I’m a pragmatic soul… not overly romantic. 🤪
No, I forgot to use an umbrella… aah.
But I don’t have kiss scene under the rain. lol.
By the way, I don’t have a lot of rain.
@GB, plus it matches the falling cane, which by the way has a nice sound (I am in the middle of a re watch of ‘Another Miss Oh’).
Yeah, but let’s admit it. If you want to convey the idea of an intense kiss for her: she HAVE to drop the umbrella. Her mind is so focalised on the kiss, that she doesn’t think anymore about the umbrella or the rain.
You could also throw rotten eggs on her, she wouldn’t notice it. ^^
@WE, no point having rain (waste of water in production) unless there’s some mood or statement to make with it.
@SD Yes true… so a mirroring of dropping ‘everything’ for each other.
However he already dropped the cane, and is holding on to her for support LOL. No, I know he’s holding on to kiss her properly but …. *sigh.
OMG @GB! Its not about being romantic! It is just natural to let go of things that hinders a passionate kiss.
LOL @WE and @FF I like how my dislike of the dropped umbrella have got you all trying to explain why to me LOLOL. I can’t stop giggling. 🤣
@GB, I think @WE describe the necessity of dropping the umbrella better.
@GB, yeah here you get good symbolism: he drops the cane, now she’s the cane.
Let’s see, maybe same for the umbrella?
He is her umbrella. ^^
The rain, well, just add this to your list of complications for him. ^^
I’ll let the umbrella pass… just a bit much with THAT SONG! 😝
@FF @SD @WE, Yes, Okay, nice symbolism. They are prepared to weather the rains of life together and be each other’s prop and umbrella. Sounds about right… and so like THAT song. My heart is you… my cane is you…my umbrella is you LOLOL.
They unite against the furious natural elements, storm, typhon, tsunami, game with mortal bugs where it always rain with a guitar music when problems come.
@GB You are going to have me hating THAT song soon also (giggle).
@WE okay about uniting against natural and virtual threats. Some loud thunder in the rain might have recalled for viewers the virtual storm in game as well… or maybe that will be overkill.
@SD, I just like to troll that song. It sort of does not make sense. Might as well say ‘my love is you’ rather than ‘my heart is you’. ‘You’re in my heart’ is also okay.
Veering back into the somber: @WE it would be hard to top the list of all the bad things that can happen to a character in any other show. Not only does your best friend and companion in arms die as an enemy, but you have to kill him yourself every day in order to survive; not only do you have to feel guilty for the death of a man you also feel for as a brother, but when you are in your direst straits you have to see him as he was in death, and methodically killing for you. And for both, you never have the opportunity to speak with them. A true horror. At the very top levels, the most difficult parts, which should be the most rewarding, this game is a true horror.
This rain makes me more the effect of a cleaning. Cleaning of the suffering.
They both stop to suffer. Hee ju because she’s in love since a while and get that kiss. And him because she trusts him and he have a reason to stay and fight.
Re KISS…JW having reached absolute bottom after CEO Park’s phone call finds the corresponding “golden key” in real life. He has “proof” that one person believes him. Plus that one person, HJ, has become special to him even though he fought these feelings for a year. So now he has HJ along with firm resolve to not run away.
Am a bit uncomfortable with JW’s demand that HJ “Prove it” with kiss as “Prove it” can be seen as a line used by men when pressuring a women to have sex (Im dating myself here LOL) Or women demanding sex from a man in 21st C.,I guess. I would have preferred a different word.
@SD, so true… it was horror that the game brought, not magic. In a sense when JW said that he was half right about saying that it would bring magic to Granada, he was actually wrong where he and HJ are concerned. It only brought loss and horror.
@WE this scene in particular reminds me of old Westerns, where the cowboy now gets the girl and can continue fighting because he has ‘the love of a good woman’.
@SD, the only good thing for JW could well be the kiss.
@salteddust. It makes sens.
@WE, well the rain always was fine. I felt that it began as another ‘trial’ that JW had to undergo as he listens to Park telling him all the trials that await him. But with HJ coming to him with shelter and believing in him, the rain becomes something comforting, cleansing and offering fresh energy for the fight.
@Hi Looty lin.
I’ve to say goodbye now.
See you next week. 😉
@LL, I felt that he sounded like the entitled brat again when he asked her to ‘prove it’. It rather spoilt the romance of the kiss. It would have been better if he’d just swooped in for the kiss and her response would have been sufficient proof.
Thanks for the rewatch @WE, @LL, @SD @FF!! It was fun. So many sad scenes but I was giggling because of our comments. See you next week!!
I had fun too, see you all next week!
In rainy kiss scene there is no thunder or lightning accompanied by foreboding music such as the rain scenes that presaged the attacks in game mode. Possibly meant to show contrast. Neither of them seemed bothered by it. Healing rain?
@LL ‘healing’ rain sounds right too!
Hi @pkml3, I trust you are well and have found your bearings this weekend and long before this. Last week you were not sure where you were!

Will open a thread when I get back to the hotel.
A happy and holy Friday in the octave of Easter, to you @pkml3. I trust that you’re still at home and will wake up well rested, to find this message. Have you managed to watch and complete a drama that you hoped to sink your teeth into?
As for me, you know the ‘drill’ … I keep up with what I enjoy. I’ve had a grand old time with cdrama, ‘Nothing But You’ and am now looking about for something more to watch. It would be lovely to be together on a thread like the ‘old days’ when we were more free.
And yes, I add my usual gentle reminder, (not that you need it) for the opening of a new MOTA thread for Episode 13. I will miss the rewatches when they are done!
Oh yes @pkml3… also a reminder about the change in the time because of Daylight Savings.
2.30pm London
