My Lovely Liar: Eps 11 & 12 Open Thread

The thread is open.

We had the kiss, the glamping, the festival date, and the fireworks.

So all hell should break lose tomorrow.

@Welmaris asked what I thought of the Doha’s mother when she spotted her son fraternizing with the “riff-raff” at the festival. My gut says that she would feel upset, hurt, dismayed that her son “selfishly” jeopardized her political career merely to have fun with these people. However, what she’ll do with those hurt feelings is anybody’s guess.

She can lay down the law and ban him from dating her (although he’s a grown man, for pete’s sake).
She can threaten to  self-harm (that seems to work with Doha).
She can defend DoHa.
She can throw him under the bus.
She can refuse to have anything to do with her recalcitrant son.
She can offer SolJee money to leave Doha alone. This is a typical kdrama trope.
And so on.

However, the screenwriter seems to be the wishy-washy type who makes a uturn and pushes a redemptive arc on bad folks…kinda like how Oprah was giving away a car on her audience.

“You get a redemption. You get a redemption. And you get a redemption.”

Just look at what screenwriter did with the ex-girlfriend, EumJi. The screenwriter rehabbed her so that now, her obsessive narcissism “If you break up with me, I will cut/stab/drown/kill myself” is just a misunderstanding and she turns out to be a really tragic character.

Same goes with the brother. According to DoHa, we shouldn’t worry about that nasty knife he’d been carrying around. The brother wouldn’t use that knife to stab other people; just him. So yeahhh, that should make everybody feel better, right? There’s a killer on the loose, but hey, at least he’s a “discriminate” killer.

I would be so annoyed if these bad siblings had their redemptions, with the two mothers didn’t.

Let’s enjoy the show.

  1. Kalimera @Packmule3 et al!

I haven’t yet watched the last 30 minutes of Episode 10. Hopefully, I will do so tonight. Let us see what it will happen…

  2. Kalimera,

I wasn’t able to finish the remaining 20 minutes of the episode, but I know what happened, so it’s okay.

Still, Kang Min is getting on my nerves. Mostly because, although he is worrying for SolHee at the same time, he is manipulating her to believe that DoHa did kill his ex girlfriend and he doesn’t remember it because of his prescribed medicine he was taking.

If you are such a good detective go and find the truth yourself Kang Min-ssi. In the meantime, don’t jump into assumptions just because you still have feelings for your ex fiance.

Lastly, the CEO has become more suspicious than ever.

He abandoned DoHa so fast, when the remains were found. Does that mean he knew WHO remains were there? If he knew, then was he involved in the killing or burying her?

Most likely he knew and he was involved.

  3. Did Sol Hee’s mother actually describe Do Ha as that guy who looks like a peeled egg? Do you reckon that was improvised? 🥚😆
