Hi there @MM, I believe the word club means an interest group. I think of school clubs (not night clubs or bands, LOL).
I believe GS and her 3 friends do not call themselves a band because they may do more than make music or perform, although I guess they seem rather like a band. Their interest seems to be in writing/composing songs, and providing music when commissioned, and if they perform it’s all likely pre-recorded for online consumption. They don’t seem to go for live performances.
I laughed at their sole guy’s name, “Off Key” 😂 … he’s the lyricist and obviously is not any of the main singers. The 3 girls sing, and Guai and GS also arrange music. I believe the Club leader and GS compose music as well.

@Growing Beautifully, on Viki here his name is translated as Tune Wrecker. I guess it’s the same thing really. He fits right into the VA studio.
I’ve just seen episode 13, so am commenting about that here.
Finally, we get a bit of small talk from our OTP. It’s quite adorable. QQC sits down like he’s doing a job interview and says they don’t know enough about each other. Birthdays, favourite colours, food. (I thought she didn’t eat spicy food because of her voice?) He has done research on Weibo to find out about GS. She is ready for this sort of interest. She finds his birthday, too, which was never published. I like his beautiful blue sweater – just as a tangential observation. The friends who are spying on them wonder why they are sitting so far apart. Then they have to stop their chat because Mao needs to work.

@Fern, the last month my subscription to BOD was somehow ‘ended’ by WordPress (I think). I had to find my way back to WordPress, login, do some changes in settings or subscriptions etc. Now I get all emails from BOD, but no longer get the oil Subscribe email. Instead as long as I post something and ask for notifications, I will get emails when someone else posts on the same thread.
The process seems to have changed for me. That may have something to do with why you receive some emails but not others.

WRT the blue sweater. Yes, I like practically every look of TJC in this Show, even in his casual sleepwear, but especially in his turtlenecks. He has a knack of looking okay sleeping, serious, amused, thoughtful and especially smiling. By contrast, I find poor Juemei looks like he’s grimacing when he effects a slight smile.
The small talk was cute. It was so intentional, but I realise that it’s not natural for them, for some reason. I fancy she’s very concerned about being impolite and does not ask much in the way of personal questions. She knows that he’s been keeping his identity a secret for years, and is nervous about making him reveal himself if he’s unwilling. He’s still to her, her senior… and just recently a stranger and her idol. Now he’s suddenly her boyfriend and idol.
QQC too might be wary of being too pushy. Even before Senior Mao advised against being too forceful with girls, QQC was already very careful of over-stepping boundaries and scaring GS away.
I’m glad to see that from sitting far apart, they quite soon become much closer… you’ll catch that in the bus ride and even before it. I wonder if that bit of small talk made all the difference in the physical distance between them!!!

About ZZ’s inexperience in dating … I kept cringing so hard for ZZ/Juemei whenever he tried to get to know Xiao Xing. It’s fortunate for him that Doudou figured out what he wanted and helped in whatever way she could.
I was thinking that even QQC must have figured it out and therefore decided to tease ZZ by deliberately pretending that he would not go for the Guilin trip.
I wonder how long the girls XX and GS will remain clueless about ZZ’s intentions!

I’ve watched up through episode 16 now. So much is advancing during this work trip to Guilin. The food scenes are deadly when I’m at home having a can of soup at lunch! I won’t give spoilers yet in case people haven’t watched it. The scenery is fabulous and I do want to visit if I ever have the chance.

Like you, I was thrilled at their small talk episode… I wanted people to leave them alone to get on with it.
But ML has the bit between his teeth now and clearly wants to keep that snowball snowballing!
I also share @Fern’s desire to visit the beautiful scenery and to see an outdoor show (son et lumiere?) like the one in Episode 16. Loved the modern opera-style singing… gorgeous… great theatrical dramatic setting against which the ML-FL’s attraction could be heightened…
I fancy a splashy trip on one of those bamboo rafts.
ML and FL are much more comfortable together… delightful to see all the tenderness…
A general point about C and K dramas. I do get annoyed at the ‘almost kiss’ convention. Whatever happens – be it a sneeze 10 yards away, a change of wind direction, a random mobile phone call – a couple always drops the attempt to kiss unquestioningly …huh?? – and then don’t attempt to kiss for another few episodes… I exaggerate but you get the drift.
I’ll bet most of us watch nervously as two people move closer together – is this an interrupted kiss sequence or will they kiss for real?
I am sounding like a pupil in the school of @agdro3 – haha!
I think the Festival we watched in the show was one that had taken place earlier in November in real life. It’s this big international arts festival which brings in people from all over the world.
It was promoted in Edinburgh too – presumably at the Edinburgh Festival.
So it is their equivalent of an Edinburgh Festival with a very different feel and it makes wonderful use of the natural location. A large percentage of the event takes place outdoors.

@Fern, something similar happened to me, I think on Friday. I have the threads for LMLMV bookmarked and when I tried to go to the ep 13-18 thread, I got a page not found message. Ended up deleting the bookmark, going to the main blog page, finding the thread, and bookmarking it again. Haven’t had any issues since.

Lots of differences between the novel and the drama where the group trip is concerned. In the novel, it’s just a vacation to an island that is described as having a not-so-good relationship with China at the moment, and guns are everywhere. 🤔
In the novel, the 10th anniversary happens near the end of the story and occurs completely online. There’s no live audience or live streaming. It’s also when QQC announced his retirement from online voice acting (he will continue to do commercial voice acting, but even that will be scaled back).
I kinda prefer the way the drama does the 10th anniversary. The voice acting scene was pretty cool.

Thanks @Stacy for the information. I like that this drama adaptation has improved upon the novel. I did enjoy the whole Guilin trip. Yes it was totally PPL for travel to that scenic place, including the food and culture we can get to enjoy. But it was good stuff.
Loved the performance they put up. The voice actors themselves felt so much in their role. I’m not sure if it’s unique to cdramas but I know that the good teamwork of Voice and Usual Actors is a very big and crucial thing, to make the show work well, because of all the different dialects. For every show we watch where there is dubbing, the number of actors may practically be doubled, but we never see the ones behind the scenes.

I would like to be keeping up with this thread but I Am not watching the shows quickly enough and each thread Covers so Many episode. I am worried I will be spoiled if I read the thread. I am wondering if there could be fewer shows in a thread Or if people could post At the top of their comment what episode they are on. I am on episode sixteen.

@MM, the speed at which the episodes were coming out and at which some of us were watching, plus reducing the number of times new threads had to be opened were the reasons we suggested 6 episodes per thread.
We may or may not remember to mention which Episode we are commenting on, or to put up SPOILER tags as a warning, therefore that may be a problem for those who wish to avoid spoilers.
I believe if @pkml3 can see our comments in time, ie before we comment beyond the Episode 22, she will be able to change the Ep 19-24 thread to an Ep 19-22 thread.
Would reducing the number of episodes per thread from 6 to 4 work for you @MM?

Thank you for responding to my concern. I am recuperating from a 2 day stay in hospital For an emergency surgery. They like to send you home quickly. Which in this case I’m okay about. It’s nothing that should give me long term problems But I may not be able to eat my christmas dinner!
Four shows in a thread would be better than six. But I hesitate to ask you to make the change. Because I might not even be able to keep up with that right now. Between doing the minimal to sort myself out and get ready for my family at Christmas there may not be much time.
