Happily-ever-after? No.
Closure: Yes.
Satisfactory closure? Yes. To me, if you have to end it in death, this is the way to end it so the one you leave behind — your survivor — can go on living.
Will I rewatch it? Yes. Probably this weekend. So I can jot down his last words to her and her parting thoughts on their whole meeting and ending.
Too little, too late: The meaning of the title “Moon in the Day” didn’t come as a surprise.
I said in my “First Impressions” that the moon was DoHa.
We often associate the moon with nighttime because that’s when we see it the most: in the night sky. But the moon is up in the sky, too, during daytime. To be visible, it must be at the right spot, reflecting the light of the sun.
To me, the title referred to DoHa. Like the moon orbiting the earth, he followed RiTa in every reincarnation. And like the moon in daytime, he was always there yet only visible to those who look harder to find him.
But the one thing I failed to consider and to WARN you all is that there’s one major drawback to the moon as symbolism. The moon is a celestial loner. It pulls the ocean tides, sure. It steadies the earth on its axis. It guides us in our travels, and the birds in their migration. It inspires poets and lovers everywhere. It tracks the seasons for users of the Chinese calendar. Still and all, the moon is a solitary object in the sky.
So, here’s my “Goodbye, Moon” for this kdrama ala Margaret Wise Brown.
Goodnight, moon.
Goodnight, gloom.
Goodnight, DoHa.
Goodnight, YeongHwa.
Goodnight, speech in slow monotone.
Goodnight, guardian soon outgrown.
Goodnight, lotus seeds.
Goodnight, longing needs.
Goodnight, useless reincarnation.
Goodnight, 1500-year damnation.
Goodnight, big tree and blue skies.
Goodnight, never-ending goodbyes.
Goodnight, grueling misery.
Goodnight, fleeting ecstasy.
Goodnight, melancholic air.
Goodnight, drama.
Goodnight, hapless souls everywhere.
Goodnight, moon.
Goodnight, gloom.
lol. Now I can continue reviewing “The Matchmakers.”
I am glad that I was prepared @Packmule3! *smiles*
It was a good story with a satisfactory ending.
Loving the poem
I loved this drama, I adored all the gloom
The poem 😭😭😭
Our star-crossed lovers finally have the closure they needed.
Now rooting for their latest reincarnation a joyous love for a lifetime.
Love the poem and enjoyed drama. I am sucker for a happy ending and I guess this as close to one as I will get.
