  1. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks @pkml3! I still can’t quite believe that this serious guy is the same crazy dork in 1D2Ns LOLOL.

  2. @GB, 2D1N is my staple. I am so used to Na In Woo as Na-triever and it took me a while to get used to Yoo Ji Hyuk who is indeed very charming. But I hope he doesn’t kiss Ji Won, imagine a puppy kissing a toddler? ….. hahaha

  3. @GB,

You remember that scene when Ji Won and Na InWoo’s character JiHyuk slept side by side on grass? In real life, that’s impossible. The sound of Na InWoo snoring is deafening. Some of his tv costars have taken to wearing ear plugs when they’re in the same room or tent with him. πŸ™‚

  4. Kalimera @Packmule3 and thanks for the thread!

We are going to see the “fiance” this week… πŸ™„

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL @pkml3 Oh noooo!! What a cut-down of his super cool, debonair image. The taller grass would have swayed at each snore LOLOL. Hopefully in the open air, he would disturb others a little less. The 1D2N people were too nice. They could have moved the tent and left him snoring outside! 🀣

  6. Old American Lady (OAL)

Snoring can be a sign of serious illness, namely sleep apnea. I hope that Na In woo is getting good medical care. I really like this actor and hope to watch his variety show. I have watched it before. It is one of my top shows including the late lamented Youn’s Kitchen, Home Alone and the adorable Return of Superman. I get a huge kick out of seeing performers out of their element. And I get a kick watching non-, Koreans interacting with big stars who they do not know to be huge. We in the States tend to be US centric and are unawTe of the talent out there. Some way h the Spanish language networks and British/Australian programs but are clueless when it comes to anything outside of Europe and Latin America. I am so thankful to have discovered the richness of Asian content(with my favorite being K Content). Jung Hai In had a program where he was in my city, New York. I would have loved to have found him to tell him that this ahjumma is a fan.

I am e joying this drama and look forward to Monday and Tuesday.

  7. The end of episode 9 was SOOOOO satisfying!

  8. What an episode! PMY shined!

    P.S. Let’s hold hands more often… Just saying… πŸ™„πŸ˜œπŸ‘Œ

  9. Episode 9 – Live watching.

00:40 – Starts with the official proposal.
The drones were paid for by Ji Hyuk.
But of course, that bastard Min Hwan says it was all his idea. ahah.

02:07 – Hilarious thought voice-over from Min Hwan.
This guy is wrong about everything!!!

    ——————————–

    APARTED:

What I really like about this drama is the subtext. For there to be subtext, you need characters who lie, or hide intentions. The dynamics of the drama favor this.

Ji Won knows that Soo Min is a bitch.
But Soo Min doesn’t know that Ji Won does.
This creates a double subtext for each confrontation.
To facilitate subtexts that are too difficult to perceive, they are transformed into thought voice-overs. Or simply, the intention is better in voice-over than in subtext.

    On the menu:
    – How Soo Min manipulates from A to Z.
    – How she reacts when Ji Won doesn’t react in the ordinary way.
    – How Ji Won reacts.
    – How she manipulates her way out of a situation. (with occasional suspense when she feels cornered).

This offers multi-layered tableaux of social confrontation, which I find captivating to watch. I’m enjoying it!

    ———————————

    Ooops, back to the drama.

04:55 – Soo Min threatens to jump into the water (suicide by drowning)
Unexpected emotional blackmail on Ji Won.
The logic of this: as in this timeline, Ji Won rejects Soo Min, this causes the unexpected. But there’s also that rule of Karmic Time (balance), making it doubtful what the consequences will be. Here, is death because of the heroine? Because she changed fate? Could the backlash be another death if Soo Min commits suicide?

05:30 – Gosh! Soo Min has really taken the plunge!
As in all kdramas, even when someone dives into a small shallow pond, he gives it a depth of twenty meters, so we can see the person sinking in slow motion. πŸ™„

WHAT?!!! She’s dragging Ji Won to the bottom?!
YO 😲!!! My dear listeners, this is a DOUBLE plot-twiiiiiiiiist !!!!

06:15 – HEP!!! The resolution is treated as an ellipsis? Surprising.
Then, no more revelation about what happened. Huh? Flashback planned?

10:30 – Soo Min and Min Hwan have finished their sex party.
Guys, I’m getting the impression that it was really fast. πŸ˜…

Later: Soo Min is really screwed up. Something hidden. Ready to die if Ji Won dies with her. Cool!

18:48 – Soo Min comes to offer the shoes.
GAG. They’re actually shoes Ji Won had bought for her before. She didn’t pay a penny. lololol.

20:15 – VoilΓ ! It’s like time is slowing down. Here we have a voice-over of Ji Won thinking. Remembering the future.

22:00 – Nothing, except a fine acting performance by Park Min Young. She blows me away in this drama.

    23:20 – LOL, a cooking class.
There really are some shady coincidences between this drama and “Revenge Mariage”.

28:02 – Manager Yang’s house. She has a failing married life. And now, a stomach crisis. It’s as if Ji Won’s illness has been transferred to her.

43:00 – Absorbed, I forgot to take notes.
Here, the scene with the grandfather is moving.

48:00 – Excellent! The troublesome woman we saw before in the cooking class is Min Hwan’s mother!

49:30 – In a creepy way, the two villains make a lovely couple! πŸ₯°

51:35 – Ji Won introduces herself to her parents dressed as a vamp. AH! I love this style.
WOW! Park Min Young just climbed my sexy actress ranking!

    55:00 – I love the cat.
I need more cats in dramas!
Why didn’t I put one in mine. What an idiot!

57:00 – Min Hwan’s mother is fun too!

58:30 – The mother is traditional. Ji Won takes advantage of this for her plan. She says she shouldn’t work. ahahahhaaa. Min Hwan’s plan ruined! He was hoping she’d provide for his financial needs.
She takes advantage of the situation to get angry with the mother and have the excuse to break off the wedding engagement.

1:02:00 – Epic. She dumps him. Slow motion. From ten different angles, knocks him down with a judo hold.

    Cliffhanger: Ji-Won’s smiling face.
This actress always makes me feel like she’s a hazelnut and I’m a squirrel. ^^

  10. Are the shoes ones that Ji-Won purchased for SM in this timeline? I thought the shoes were purchased by JW as a birthday present for SM in the previous timeline. In this timeline, its shifted, so the shoes are now a birthday present from SM TO JW
Also, I’m very scared that JW’s fate is shifting to Manager Yang. There is going to be a bit of angst if that happens. SM’s end game is to destroy JW, maybe because of the parental affair? Did JW’s mother wreck SM’s family?

  11. empress new clothes

Su-Min just deep-dived into greater depths of psycho cray cray when she tried to drag Ji-Won underwater. She seriously creeps me out — so kudos to the writing and acting. A real sense of menace coming from that quarter. with “friends” like these, who needs enemies?

I love the red shoes story beat though — esp cos Su-Min is the self-proclaimed “other-half” of Jiwon. It’s considered bad luck to give shoes to your S.O. cos they will leave you. In this case — HURRAH! (I hope that is meant as great foreshadowing, that Jiwon can walk free and shake off the scourge we call psycho Su-Min

Love the cooking class sequence too — and how she leverages on the future (and future skills) to help her in the present-past / not to mention the delicious irony that the carrot rapees was so flawless cos it was taught her by her bullying MIL in the future.

Really rooting for Ji-Hyuk and Jiwon to get it on with their romance and respective true fabulous selves / new destinies after dumping the poisonous pair of leeches!

p.s. yup, I too got a bit concerned when I saw Ms Yang clutching her guts in stress — I was like oh no, would you be the one getting gastro-cancer?

  12. @WE really good point about Manager Yang possibly taking on JW’s fate. The best thing about this episode is there is another one tomorrow. I thought I was caught up but I was one episode behind so more goodness tomorrow.

  13. Kalimera Everyone!

    @Neolttwiggi welcome on board!

I have my spoilers from MDL about the Webtoon and I know why Su Min is acting like that, but I don’t want to share it here, because it might ruin your pleasure of finding out, if they follow that route on the show.

  14. @GoodTwin,

@WE got it right. That is all I am going to say for now. *smiles*

  15. @Neolttwiggi, About the shoes. You are right. I probably made an error, confusing a flashback from the future with a flashback from the past. Return to the future! πŸ™‚

  16. @GoodTwin. At some points I forgot to note important scenes.
I copy-paste a comment I made on MDL with some.

I was explaining the drama manages to dodge draggy scenes, and don’t use too much of slow (potentialy boring) scenes, or insert them in a way we don’t have one after the other.

Slow pace and drag is something I’m quite sensitive, even more with scenes without purpose. So if there were this problem in this drama, I think I would be already painful about that in the comments.

    Additionaly of…
    – the scene with grandfather. (intrinsic interest, it’s a very moving one and we had plot point about Ji Hyuk becoming next president)
    – the scene where they talk about Soo Min madness, and hide behind a wall for a close together moment. (here too, plot purpose + closer them)

… We have as slower scenes:

    12:56 – On a boat. (duration 1:50)
    – End of Min Soo’s madness review. Encouragement.
    – Excellent last line. “Thank you for the (marriage) proposal”. Implies an undertone. Complicity.
    – Exotic visual, lake. Transition to title.

    43:40 – In the car. (duration 4:15)
    – In connection with the previous scene (grandfather), he exposes his hesitation about his future life.
    – She helps him take a pragmatic approach to resolving his inner conflict.
    – Monotony broken by short flashbacks.
    – Ends with a powerful moment, when they hold hands. Fingers crossed (like lovers). The emotion is there. That’s why I often say that the word “chemistry” means nothing. It’s moments like this that create the relationship.

    About episode structure:
    – It starts with the set-up: she want to do the mariage proposal, but her plan is to break this, to put pressure on her ex-future-husband.
    – End of episode: she achieves this goal.

    About Yang:
This scary karmic balance give her Ji Won fate. Looking back, it was probably triggered when Yang took the lead of the ad-project instead of Ji-Won.

  18. I read some negative reviews on the internet about the drama.
I find it interesting because, from what I understand, some viewers think the plot doesn’t move forward. But they interpret this as if the drama were draggy or full of fillers. No doubt they’d prefer the revenge to happen more quickly. Although the drama might be short on things to offer afterwards.

I think they’re right about the slowness of the general plot. In some dramas, it would certainly annoy me too. But not here. This is typically a drama that I can savor for each individual scene. As I’ve already mentioned, the subtext-filled confrontations with the villains. As long as every moment of the drama is captivating, the plot doesn’t need to be slow or fast. Just be what it is. Where I’ll understand viewers’ annoyance is if they fail to appreciate the content of these scenes, always waiting.

I even think I like the fact that the general plot is slow, as it leaves more time for these scenes with the villains. It also gives time to further disperse the (romantic?) scenes with the two leads, instead of piling them up (possible cluster of slow scenes).

From memory, another drama had this effect on me: “From now on showtime”. While I don’t like procedural stories (one episode = one investigation) and the beginning of the drama had a few episodes of this nature, I was never in a hurry for the plot to progress in this drama. The comedy scenes were too good.

  19. @WE,

I don’t read on MDL what they say. Mostly because there are fan-wars happening most of the time and we know who are with whom.

As for myself, I am enjoying “Marry My Husband” so very much! I think it is more realistic to have a drama where the FL takes her time to understand the situation, herself and act upon it. The same applies to the ML.

I also, really like “From Now On Showtime”! It was a hidden gem, although not a lot of people were watching it at the time! Still, I enjoyed it and so are you and that matters! If what we are watching resonate with us!

  20. P.S.

Also @WE you are completely right about the karmic balance. Manager Yang didn’t object about what was happening to Ji Won and as a result her action caused a reaction. Physics 101!

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Episode 9 – How I loved the last frame of a smiling Ji Won. What a great judo throw that was! I guess she can claim that she had broken off their engagement already and he was thus a stranger who tried to be too familiar, so she threw him in self-defence? Loved the shock on every face!

I’d like that mother of Min Hwan’s to end up as SM’s MIL (mother-in-law) LOLOL. As I said before, that would be a true punishment for appropriating MH

  22. Let’s cheer collectively about Episode 10!!! πŸ‘ŒπŸŽˆβ€οΈ

    So very happy! ☺️☺️☺️

  23. If the ending of ep 9 had me cheering, the end of ep 10 had me fanning and swooning! I rewound and watched it twice LOL.

  24. The best two episodes so far!

I thought the cinematography and acting In the scene in the water was really well done. The villainous had an expression on her face which combined evil and innocent sweetness, I thought. Really terrifying.

  25. Old American Lady (OAL)

Thanks everybody for the heads up about Episode 10. You give me something to look for. I don’t understand why some people don’t like this. I am hooked and am enjoying PMY. She has been given a meaty, multidimensional role. Now, with her judo move, maybe give her an action movie. And Na In Woo. He is definitely an actor I will watch him be clumsy in his variety show and watch his dramas. I didn’t know him in Mr. Queen but I’ll revisit that drama. My superficial self says there are so many absolutely gorgeous Asian actors who are not just handsome faces(except CEW) that it’s a pleasure tobwatch. And the beautiful a tresses are accessible and seem to be unafraid to look unattractive or plain in their roles. PMY looked so horribly sick at the beginning of this drama and was almost unrecognisable. Brava for her.

  26. It was interesting that the magic word ‘family’ was as much a weak spot for SW as it was for JW. I look forward to the story being revealed in the episodes to come.
If Manager Yang is getting the cancer transferred to her as karmic retribution, does that mean that now she has confessed that its JW’s project, that she has a good chance of the cancer being discovered early? Hopefully JW will notice the stomach clutching.

@Cleopatra thanks for the welcome. I’ve been enjoying the commentary here in my time lurking.

  27. empress new clothes

Episode 10 is smoking and oh-so-satisfying.
Yes — if you haven’t watched yet, you will be rewarded r-i-g-h-t at the end πŸ˜€

This show is way more satisfying than PMR. I am mentally fist-pumping all the times she stood up for herself and outwitted her evil abusers. Good riddance to trash.

p.s. yes he plays the SML in Mr. Queen — excellent. Totally gave me second lead syndrome in his character’s utter devotion to his cousin-love (FL), and ruthless resolve AND startling abilities to protect her against all odds and factions — unto death. He was totally giving the ML a run for his money

  28. empress new clothes

    Highlights:

    * The multiple slaps

    * Returning douchebag “I-steal-your-proposal” Kim being used as a plot device to out the third party

    * The toilet rolls & detergent scene “I come bearing gifts” LOL

    * Unexpected yet compelling reason to switch the target of marriage now (great narrative device)

    * the air rifle scene (I also like his voiceover cos we seldom get a glimpse into what he is truly feeling, esp cos he plays his cards so close to his heart and withhold key info even from his true love to protect her)

    * the spiteful ice-cream / icepick eating scene — a total hoot

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Neolttwigi, welcome to the thread and BOD. I thought I’ve seen your name before, but probably on another thread.

I don’t know what to think of Su Min. She lies just for the sake of emotional blackmail, and now in order to get a family, she’s prepared to pay for someone else’s positive pregnancy test and for a sonogram of someone’s unborn child, to pass as her own. I suppose we’ll find out her sad backstory soon.

Yup, I’d really like Manager Yang to go for a check-up and catch her illness in its early stages.

I laughed to see Ji Hyuk’s two friends who are constantly roped in to do all kinds of things for him but without ever knowing why. What great support they provide! I’d almost forgotten them and wondered who’d bother to tie up useless Min Hwan. Not that I’m for violence, but knowing how she treated Ji Won in the old timeline, I like that Min Hwan’s mother beats him up too! Fair’s fair! Min Hwan and his parents, and Su Min with her lies are so going to deserve becoming family to each other!

What I first considered the strange wedged in scene of a conversation between Manager Kang and Dir. Lee Suk Joon (who’s Grandpa Yoo’s right-hand man on the spot in U&K) has now evolved to become several scenes where Dir Lee has one-on-one scenes with Mgr Kang, either helping her or listening to her. This is a piecemeal set up for something more between them and a hopeful future for Mgr Kang and her daughter. The scenes still seem a bit strange, cropping up at odd times, but because they might be forming a ‘pattern’ of sorts, they’ve become acceptable.:-)

  30. Ep 10 – Live watching.
I saw comments saying this episode was bomb.
    So I did a full scene break-up.
But not to the point to do a transcript. At least all scenes cut.

00:38 – Begins beautifully with Min Hwan going nuts at his mother’s house. ahaha.

01:18 – View of their building, their argument in voice-over.

01:22 – Min Hwan comes out, at the foot of the building.
    Excellent transition between scenes.

01:35 – He knocks on Ji Won’s door.
    Fast-paced scenes.

01:50 – Ji Won opens the door but…
It’s not the same one! She’s in another apartment.
    Excellent transition + surprise effect.
Ji Hyuk and his sister visit her.

02:06 – They enter her apartment.
Short dialogue to make it clear that she’s just relocated + housewarming gifts.

02:38 – The door opposite Min Hwan opens.
A big, unsympathetic man lives here now.
LOL! This episode starts like a fire wagon.
    Fast-paced scenes, surprise after surprise.

    03:12 – Back to Ji Won’s apartment.
Ji Hyuk rents the apartment and lives in the same building πŸ˜†
Ttt-Ttt-Ttt. Forced cohabitation, or almost. 😝
Classic romantic tricks, he helps her put away books but…
… Their hands accidentally touch!!! πŸ˜†

04:11 – Luxurious residence, outside view. Night.
Voice over: They say goodbye to Ji Won.

04:18 – Facing the front door after exiting.
The script takes the trouble to transition through the exterior view.
    – To familiarize us with the place.
    – To give the impression that they’ve stayed a long time, until it’s dark.

    04:40 – They’re in the elevator.
Discussion: did he cancel the arranged marriage with Yu-Ra?

    05:00 – In Ji Hyuk’s apartment.
No doubt about it, he lives in the same building!
I don’t understand why the sister says Ji Won is getting married.
She suspects that he’s in love with Ji Won, so she spies on him.

05:51 – Ji Hyuk alone in his room, staring.
Short scene to weigh up what his sister has told him.

05:58 – View of UK skyscraper, daytime. Classic geographical introduction.

    06:00 – Open space UK.
Starts with a close-up of a bag thrown on a table.
Then worried employees. Then angry Min Hwan.
    So much for cinematic order.
Ji Won arrives. Things are going to get spicy, I’m salivating in anticipation.

GOSH!!! He starts by yelling at her but DIRECTLY, she slaps him! 😲
    Employee reaction.
He talks and RE-slaps!!! Employees react.
    WHAT?!! Another slap?!!! Insane. πŸ˜‚
Now, no reaction from the employees.
This focuses on Min Hwan trying to slap her but–
SNAP! Wrist grabbed by Ji Hyuk!
This episode is off to such a great start, dammit. πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

    Explanation for this Twist:
They had planned to expose Min Hwan’s extramarital relationship. You could even say they provoked it. Maybe there were cameras in the villa where Min Hwan and Soo Min had sex?

    07:00 – Continuation.
Now Ji Won wants to screw Soo Min.
Pulls out her red panties and puts them on Min Hwan’s head. πŸ˜„
She throws off her engagement ring.
Long slow-motion shot of the ring…
Ends up shattering on the ground.
Crash! Smashing effect echoed in the TITLE Crash.

08:22 – All over the company. Employees gossip.
Office. Webchat visual insert superimposed on image.

09:00 – Office continues. Excellent surprise:
That jerk manager Kim is back! No one cares.

09:14 – Min Hwan alone, in front of the building.
Soo Min comes, it wasn’t her panties.

10:00 – Ji Won, break room. Voice-over thought:
She picked out panties Min Hwan would like.

11:10 – Back in front of the building, the two villains.
Ji Hyuk is spying on them.

11:52 – Ji Won in UK corridor.
    Crosses manager Kim’s jerk.
She snubs him and leaves, he gets upset.
Wow! What an episode!!! 10/10 so far.
Fast paced in action AND short scenes but sure:
Emphasis long scene on the one with the slaps.

12:27 – Manager Kim on the terrace.
At the end of this short scene, he scans further away. It’s hard to tell other than by the transition, but it’s towards…

12:34 – Back in front of the building, the two villains.
This scene has been cut x3 so far. Excellent scene order.
Min Hwan rejects Soo Min: “You’re not marriageable”.
He tells her a shitload of crap. Perfect!
    13:44, manager Kim arrives.
That’s why the screenwriter added the short scene on the terrace.

He wants to fight Min Hwan, and as if by magic…
All the employees are here to watch! πŸ˜„
I don’t know why he’s so preoccupied with Soo Min.
But Ok, this lets everyone know that she’s Min Hwan’s mistress.

    14:18 – Office, Re gossip!!! πŸ˜‚
The employees have a two-stage super soap opera.
Soo Min outside the break room, hears them laughing. πŸ˜…

14:56 – Animation shot, computer screen with rumors.
Voice-over of employees dead with laughter.

    15:08 – Transition to smartphone web page…
… From Ji Won. Receives messages from Soo Min.

    15:52 – Office, Project meeting…
… sabotaged by Soo Min and Min Hwan.
Close-up of their names on the document and transition…

16:39 – Min Hwan biting his nails, watching…
… Web page, photo of him + Soo Min, of their SCANDAL!
Yang comes to see him angry, about the project’s failure.
His troubles aren’t over yet, ahaha.
    Transition, computer image overlay:
They had sex at work, rather than work.

18:35 – Computer screen on their scandal.
The President’s right-hand man, Suk Joon.
Welcoming Min Hwan to the human resources office.
(So much for the cinematic order)
He’s blocking keywords like “Park the panty”. Too bad. 🀭
    OH! Only if he’s transferred.
    His last line: “Transferred?”
Used as a mini cliffhanger because….

19:20 – Soo Min in exactly the same place. HR.
Her turn to get yelled at. To be fired, even!

    19:40 – Close-up: Women’s Lounge sign.
    (oh, the break room)
Soo Min sitting on the floor, telephone. Ji Won doesn’t answer.
Stress, anxiety, trembling, crying, Villain downfall!
Masochistic, watches the gossip on her smartphone.
She writes a letter. What is it? We don’t know.
Mystery, to keep us in suspense.

20:52 – Manager Kim is in trouble.
    In Suk Joon’s HR office.
    Yang becomes his superior!
Threat: He must accept or resign.
Mini-cliffhanger, we don’t know his answer.

21:39 – Someone is clearing away his office things.
Him? …. And yes!!! To resign or change jobs?
    Yang, stomach pains.

22:22 – An unknown man walks down the corridor…

    22:27 – … enters the storage room.
Where is Yang! The man is… Suk Joon.
Even for a short while, the script generated a little surprise effect.
The screenplay here is so good, it just gave me an idea. I took a short break to edit one of my scenes with this kind of technique to produce hook and surprise.

We had hints before that Yang was interested in Suk Joon.
Again, even for a very short moment, the script produces a surprise.
We think he’s got a cigarette box, but…
    He’s taking (stomach?) pills.

23:32 – Flashback insert: him and her (Prelap voice-over)
She: “you’re cold to the people you love the most”.
Him: “I don’t like people like you who think they know everything”.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was lying. lol.

23:56 – Back to the storage room.
She admits that the project is Ji Won’s and that she should get the promotion.
Maybe a way to correct that karmic balance problem.
    Really, he promoted them both?
Gosh, she practically makes a confession to him.
“I like people who talk without knowing if they’re right. And you’re right.” πŸ₯°
I’m taking so many notes I’m never going to finish this episode….

22:25 – Break room. Yang + Ji Won.
They never work at this company. πŸ˜„
    Ji Hyuk’s sister arrives.
    “There’s been a problem downstairs.” What? Suspense…

    26:33 – Ji Won downstairs.
An elderly couple makes a scene in the lobby.
I was expecting it. SLAP, the old lady slaps her. πŸ™‚
Soo Min and Min Hwan look on.
That bastard Manager Kim happy she’s getting hit. πŸ˜„
Revelation!!! The old folks got a fake letter from Ji Won.
That’s what Soo Min wrote in an earlier scene.

    Ouch!!! Things are heating up!
Ji Won accuses Soo Min of the forged document in front of everyone.
She grabs her, throws her to the floor. WAAHhAAh. πŸ˜‚πŸ€—
Search her stuff, her smartphone, the fake letter message she sent!
Soo Min cries and tries to apologize.
    + She begins suicide blackmail.
Funny detail: only Manager Kim is moved.

Psycho. Soo Min reveals she’s pregnant.
    Manager Kim nearly faints. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Min Hwan falls to the floor! πŸ˜„

33:22 – Min Hwan drunk in a restaurant. Night.
    Smartphone message. Visual overlay. Debt.

34:15 – Min Hwan drunk on the street. Decay.
    Two thugs kidnap him. WHAT?!!

    34:49 – Tied to a chair in a warehouse.
About to be beaten with a hammer.
    Pisses his pants… Loan sharks?
His parents will give him money if he marries.
AHHH, so he’ll have no choice but to marry Soo Min. Excellent.

36:38 – Free. On the street.

36:51 – Ji Hyuk. Container zone.
Of course, he’s the one who hired the (fake) loan sharks.
To speed up the wedding plan.

37:44 – Min Hwan goes home to his parents.
    Begging for money.

38:23 – View of the building. SPAF, slap sound.
    Interesting, just a one-second shot.

    38:24 – He’s kicked out.

38:32 – Exterior view. His place?

38:34 – Yes, Min Hwan goes home.
Immediately, SURPRISE! Soo Min is here.
He has to apologize a little, be gentle, if he wants to marry her.
But of course, she won’t let him. πŸ˜„
It’s funny, he’s convinced Ji Won is acting this way out of jealousy.
Poor old man, if he only knew… πŸ™‚
Excellent transition: “she must be devastated”.

40:32 – Tching!! Ji Won toasts a glass of champagne. πŸ˜‚
The trio of girls party in Eun Ho’s bar.
Voice-over thought: Ji Won knows that Min Hwan is infertile.

    41:16 – Back at Min Hwan’s place.
    He proposes marriage.
But she’s obsessed with Ji Won. “my better half”.
Excellent! Interspersed with flashbacks where he says the same words to Ji Won.
Her last line: “a family?”. Mysterious.

    43:42 – “Disciplinary sanctions” document…
… in the hands of Ji Hyuk’s grandfather.
With Suk Joon reporting to him.
Grandpa wants to meet Ji Won. Transition…

44:16 – Park, car. Suk Joon brings Ji Won.

44:35 – Lounge. Meet Ji Won + Grandpa.
“what are your plans?”. SMASH CUT.

45:22 – BANG! Rifle shooting in the park.
Ji Hyuk. Must go see grandpa.

45:33 – Done and done! πŸ˜€ Sees Ji Won.

45:47 – Walk in the park. Ji Won + Ji Hyuk.
“I can’t blame my foot for stepping in poo”.
Besides the good line, transition by sense…

46:40 – … Min Soo the poop, in a bar.
Wants to buy a positive pregnancy test on the internet.
She’s psyching herself out. Voice over by Ji Hyuk. Prelap of…

47:03 – Walk in the park. Ji Won + Ji Hyuk.
Scene cutting, and scene insert at the right moment. Great art. Studying hard!
He invites her to shoot a rifle.
Of course, of course. To teach her to shoot…
… you have to TOUCH her. πŸ˜…πŸ₯°

49:25 – Exterior shot of their residence.

    49:27 – Sister watching TV.

49:35 – Close-up, someone is preparing a dish. Ji Won.

    49:47 – Close-up on the dishes.
Now dinner Ji Won + Sister.
Sister: “What kind of guy do you like?”. The answer…

50:39 – Flashback insert, Ji Won + Ji Hyuk at the park.
When he teaches her to shoot.

50:41 – Back to dinner. It was a fast flash.
    Phone call. Eun-Ho.

51:06 – Residential gate opens. Car enters.
Eun-Ho welcomed outside by Sister and Ji Won.

52:06 – Flashback insert. Ji Hyuk drunk at Eun Ho’s restaurant.

    52:11 – Back to present.
Eun Ho takes Ji Won for a drive.
Sister happy, it seems she wants to set them up?

52:52 – Sister on sofa. Answer: YES.
Irony: Ji Hyuk is here and hears this.
Surely this reminds you of the irony we have in Nine Time Travel.
The writer makes the ML suffer, ahah!
He’s eating a GIGANTIC tub of ice cream. (PPL)
    Jealous of Eun Ho.
LOL. He cuts the tub in half.
He’d rather his sister guzzle ice cream than continue to piss him off talking about Eun Ho. But she goes on. πŸ˜‚
She says Ji Won likes Christmas decorations.
    This smacks of foreshadowing.

55:03 – Christmas skating rink. The perfect romantic spot.
Ji Won… but with Eun Ho! Slow motion.
This guy has a puppet head.
    She’s daydreaming about Ji Hyuk.

56:11 – Skating rink outing. Nighttime.
    YO. She friendzone Eun Ho.
    – Flashback insert, them at school + Ji Won voice over.
    – Flashback insert, different situation.
57:30, The image makes me hallucinate. Bubbles of light cut into squares in the background.
A fragmentation effect to accentuate their rupture?
Good background music, in the tone of old melodramas.

58:24 – Eun Ho leaves Ji Hyuk’s residence.
    After taking Ji Won home.
Realizes she’s in love with him.

58:52 – Ji Won outside the residence.
SURPRISE! Ji Hyuk was waiting outside.
She wants to talk to him. Her place or his.
My money’s on a kiss before the end…..

01:00:14 – They enter his house. The cat. AND Christmas tree!!!
    Discussion with good background music.
    Romance has a mature feel.
Flashback insert – She for a line of dialogue. lol.
She has a hard time spilling the beans!
    KISS—– (her)
    Excuse me…
    DOUBLE KISS—– (him)
Yep, the first one was ridiculous.
The song’s good too. I didn’t notice it until now.
    END.

  31. @pm3, hi, my comment got lost again in the Twilight Zone. T T

  32. Kalimera @Neottwigi!

You are welcome! Yes, I think Manager Yang has a good chance to find it early and treat it as well.

Also, @GB Unnie is right. We get to see Director Lee With Yang meeting up and talking for a bit and that means something as well… *smiles*

  33. @Pm3. Post unlocked. Thanks! πŸ‘

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, what a lot of notes!!! LOL Park the Panty!!! I didn’t get that in my subs. He was called Panty Park, I thought she chose the sort of panty that Soo Min would choose so that it would seem more likely that SM had left them behind.

MH is such a dork that he admits to cheating in front of everyone, although the panty had nothing to do with the actual deed.

This is the first time a show has given so much in the way of karmic satisfaction where wrongs against a victim are righted mostly by the victim herself. She does not know what JH did to intimidate MH into marriage with SM, but it was certainly effective. JH’s only goal now is that JW is happy.

  35. @GB, here you have the full structure, scene by scene.
If I take my doc and edit, I can write a transcript, but it would take too much time I’m worried. Copy-paste dialogues, writing actions lines.

I took notes of strong points. You can see how smart is the scene order, transitions. Each point when the writer create hook or surprise. Related to that, at the start of scene, how is the script with cinematic order, what you see first on screen (can be a close-up) always to trigger audience attention or curiosity.

We also see how scenes are cut. Instead of telling a full scene A then another scene B, scene A starts, the dialogue or action makes reference to someone/something and follow a short Scene B about that, then return to scene A.

Transitions use a visual (web articles), a meaning (related to previous line), or inversion of meaning (champagne gag), or place in a raw way (HR office).

  36. @GB, oh, it’s “Panty Park” in english.
In french it’s “Park la culotte”, so my translator gave me “Park the Panty”.

  37. empress new clothes

Yes – LURVE the “Panties Park” & “Bermuda Park” monikers circulating on the office intranet. and how deadpan our HR director was in listing the litany of rude names used in spam filters.

and also how the FAKE cubic “diamond” ring broke — such a sly callback to when he first proposed and we heard his cheapskate interior monologue that Jiwon would never find out it is fake cos no way she would fling the ring

oh well, be careful what you wish you just might get it

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOLOL @WE, it’s just too funny!

The way you mention the scenes makes it clearer where the scenes were strong and the transitions good. I thought they did match cuts well. N

  39. BTW,

Even YT is knowing me too well. LOL! The scene that we were all waiting for and yes we cheered when it actually happened last night! Enter with your own accord! LMAO!

  40. Oooooo… I’m late to board this train but oh my ! I’m enjoying this drama or what ! So refreshing after the wreck that was My Demon.

    1) I find the ML’s characterization and the actor incredibly charming. He is a solid land and a thorough husband material. I also find the maturity of a 35+ individual imbibed in both the ML and FL even when the time travel. They keep their experience of life with them and not become 25 once again.

    2) He carries a life time of regret on his shoulders. NOT the kind where he kills her, thank goodness. But rather, he regrets his inaction. Time and again, he is also aware of the pain his sister and grandfather must have gone through when he died in the previous timeline. Naturally, he isn’t all jolly. I find it consistent with the plot.

    3) I love how the drama makes it clear that evil does not have gender. There are evil and abusive men and there are evil and abusive women. Similarly, there are amazing, kind men and amazing, kind women.

    4) The baddies ALWAYS have a choice. And they CHOOSE to go the immoral way in full awareness. At each point, the plot consciously offers them to do what they ALSO know would have been the right, honest and fair thing to do. Dare I also add logical? But no. They suffer from some disease of character it seems. The story does not blame it on fate, but rather their OWN actions. I simply love it !

    5) Ji Won is shown to be on the path of self discovery. Not blind revenge. Of course, I cheer her by shouting like a mad woman at my screen but that isn’t all. Like others have said, it’s a meaty, multi dimensional role. She is evolving as a person. PMY is doing so well !

P.S. I squealed in a very age inappropriate fashion at the last scene. I hope to continue some of the squealing in Ep 11. Very immature, very fun ! Hee hee.

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Arihsi, it’s great to see you enjoying MMH so much! It does bring on the squeals and squees, doesn’t it? πŸ˜‚πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ˜˜

  42. Helloooo @GB…. So nice to have you onboard this drama. You escaped My Demon viewing πŸ™ˆ

  43. Episode 9 and 10 endings were both phenomenal! Finally we have them confessing to their feelings 😍 Those kisses were worth the slow burnπŸ”₯
I’m enjoying this drama so much, PMY back in full form (I did not like her precious drama)!
NIW plays this reserved, silently smouldering character so well that I can’t imagine him playing a funny part nowπŸ˜€

  44. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Arihsi, I let go of My Demon as soon as it looked like it would throw any thing at viewers, whether it made sense or not, and expect us to accept it. I felt that it was disrespectful of Show. πŸ˜ πŸ˜€πŸ˜‘πŸ˜†

  45. @WE

I enjoyed reading your commentary on both episodes. Although I’m not a detailed viewer as you, I’m not skipping any scenes! I skipped 80-90% of My demon scenes per episode. I just skimmed through the whole thing and never once felt like sitting through it. Here, I actually sit, patiently watch and thoroughly enjoy what’s going on the screen.

Perhaps it is because of the expertise of editing as you point out. It glues fleeting and impatient viewers like myself. It’s not just leads prancing around in impractical fashion but rather in service of advancing the plot.

  46. Especially the whole “God” part @GB. It was way below the belt (irrespective of religion).

  47. @Phoenix yes to a reserved and “silently smoldering” NIW, isn’t it ? *Tries to wink but just ends up looking weird*

I really liked PMY in Healer. After that, this drama. Speaking of which, her characters have a penchant for breaking into castles of the princes to save them from themselves (ep 11 here). The (wo)man in shining armour!

  48. Lastly, cheering with @Cleopatra a whole 10 episodes too late !

  49. Old American Lady (OAL)

Hey BODers, Love this drama. PMY is great here. She goes head to head with the very talented villains,
Especially the actress who plays SuMin. Love to hate her in all her smarm. But my money is still on our heroine. And as husband material goes, NIW is a dream. I hope we get a happy ending where our leads are able to transfer their death dates to others. I still think that we have to see what happens to the NIL character. I am still seeing a car crash in his future.Say it ain’t so.

  50. Hey @Arihsi!

Good to have you here! Yes, we are cheering indeed, regardless of how late we watch something! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

  51. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Cleopatra, in regards yto your response to Arihsi, you are always so positive and welcoming. IT IS always a pleasure to read your pos5s. And to @Arihsi, welcome to BOD, a wonderful safe space to discuss the fun of Asian dramas. Please know that our fearless leader @packmule3 runs an exceptional blog that is very informative and classy. No idle gossip here. Please enjoy this drama and this blog.

  52. Kalimera my dear Halmeoni @OAL!

Thank you for your kind words! It made my morning really! It is so good that we are all part of this community that @Packmule3 built so beautifully.

So, we need to have a steady and loving enviroment to talk with each other with respect, understanding and humour. I am honoring this haven by being the best version of myself!

P.S. I do hope you are okay! 😘
