Ah thanks @pkml3! These are the very gifs of the scene that had me in stitches when I first watched. I give props to the director/writer who managed to stage the romantic petal fall indoors!!!

No way were they going to avoid the romantic trope that would tell us this COUPLE is the OTP: even if one of them was a police officer in uniform and the other a masked informant who was supposed to be male, and even if they were not in a tree-line garden path!!! LOL.

How I loved his expression of sheer confusion, and I imagine her expression too, just from her eyes! Loved it! 🤣😍

  2. This show is all about her actions and his reactions!

@Snow Flower, that’s a good way to caption this Show!

    Episode 7’s epilogue!! LOLOL

I found some scenes obscure to me this time… maybe they are set up scenes that will be explained later? There is reference to an on-going dastardly scheme that started 15 years earlier. The factions are clearer, and sides are being taken, but I love how Show never forgets to interject scenes of Yeo Hwa and Soo Ho together.

I expected a couple more couples and I see them indicated more clearly as well. We’ll have more romance in the air in later episodes. It’s all still cute and light on the outskirts of a serious intrigue. 🙂

    Waiting for Episode 8!!!

Episode 8 wisely gave us the low down on the stuff that puzzled us in Ep 7, when the plot was ‘thickened’. It would have annoyed me no end if we had had unnecessary delays in the reveals.

Story continues to move apace with much development on all fronts. It’s satisfying and although there were no all out funny scenes, I still chuckled at the ‘new merchant’s’ English that popped up most appropriately, especially when he was surprised.

Loved the reverse trope of who saves whom

So now we understand more what’s in it for everyone and who is with whom and what secret is what. We have only 4 more episodes to disconnect the baddies and connect the good guys. It will be great to be assured, that by the end of Ep 9, the good guy team will have gathered themselves and become more together.

Oh, and that was another nice Epilogue.

  6. Is orabeoni dead? The epilogue of Episode 8 was lovely.

  7. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Snow Flower another question… is unseen departed husband really dead?

  8. @GB, The departed husband is back. We don’t know why he has returned. He seemed pretty smitten with his own wife. He was disowned by his own father 15 years ago for wanting to marry a Western woman. Evil Left State Minister killed two birds with one stone: he avoided the public shame of having disowned his son, and he made sure that Yeo Hwa was kept hostage.
I still don’t know what is the connection between Lady Oh and Left Minister. Why were they working together to get rid of the previous king?

  9. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Snow Flower, I was so amused to hear departed husband say ‘my wife?!’ in English. I wonder what happened to the woman with blue eyes he had abandoned home for and why he’s back in SKorea.

I take it from the preview that his father will be after him for making a reappearance. I’m waiting impatiently to see how it plays out with his ‘wife’ who thinks he’s dead and who has another love interest.

We saw that her brother is most likely really dead, killed by Left SM’s henchman. I gather that henchman is the brother (adopted or otherwise?) of Lady Oh, and that these two siblings are in a subservient position or owe Left SM something and so are beholden to him and have to act like his lackeys.

Left SM already has the late king’s seal, so I don’t know what else he wants to do by keeping Yeo Hwa a ‘hostage’. Also what does he hope to do with the seal? Will he forge something with that seal and say that the late king left him with more power and wealth? So far he has achieved power without being king or being found out to be the murderer of the late king, but we don’t know all his motives yet.

I’m glad to see that the troublesome Yi Kyung will now focus on Bi Chan and hopefully give up her crush for Soo Ho. I never noticed this in other actors, but I find Actor Lee Jong Won’s jawline kind of cute. Such a sharp chin emerging from what might have been a squarish jaw. An unusual chin!

  10. If orabeoni sustained fatal injuries, who left the sword for Yeo Hwa at their secret hiding place?

I find the departed husband/merchant amusing too, especially his reaction at seeing Yeo Hwa, “Beau-ti—ful”.

The epilogue was too sweet. The leads are so good together – they create comedy, action, and romantic moments well, with endearing dimples (Honey Lee) and jawline (Lee Jong Won) too!

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Hana, I wondered if YH’s brother had left the sword for her through a friend. Maybe he was too badly injured or already dead, and that’s why he never showed up but left the sword for her. Or the timing was such that she was able to get the sword before he was attacked by the bad guys.

    EPISODE 9
Another great episode, full of developments on all fronts and another lovely epilogue.

The good guys team is slightly consolidated but the bad guys are also taking action. Three more fast-paced episodes to go!

  13. Yes, good suspenseful ending there!

    I agree, sweet epilogue.

I wonder if Jeong knows about the events 15 years ago. His disappearance was at a similar time, wasn’t it? I’m glad his return will prevent YH from being sent to tomb watch (what a cruel activity for widows!).

I look forward to seeing how the baddies unravel.

    Episode 11 and 12 – The Finale

    MINOR SPOILERS

Well the series managed to wrap up nicely, leaving no big plot holes. It was a satisfying finish although somehow something was lacking…. perhaps it was too rushed? Still it checked the boxes… good guys won, bad guys got their comeuppance, individuals moved on to fulfill what they wanted and were happy. Perhaps it’s that also which makes the ending a bit less perfect… they remained more as individuals, when previously they were more a community.

One of the best bits for me was that it was little Kkot Nim who asked the right question so that Yeo Hwa could walk away free from marriage/divorce or widowhood and be her own person. However we are not shown how she lived on her own, but only that she did come back.

Show didn’t give us the kiss(es), but we did get the confession and the implied pairings at least, which I guess will have to do. And what a joke that the one most afraid of violence ended up as Minister of War.

Through it all, in the team of good actors, Honey Lee stood out. She was marvelous as the demure daughter, the distraught sister, the expert sword wielder in a mask. She really made the show. It would not have been as watchable and fun if not for her.

My ad hoc rating: 7/10. 🙂

  15. @GB I agree it was a nice wrap-up and good acting from all. Honey Lee really is outstanding. Her comedic timing is on point, providing the best laugh out loud moments, and also managed to make me feel her pain and cry.
    What an emotional finale!

I was touched by the farewell she shared with her husband/Jeong, for the respect he showed her. I liked, too, when the captain/SuHo reminded Jeong to consider her feelings and to respect her.

I like what the writers did with YeoHwa’s character – that she lived away independently and retained her own identity. It was significant that she announced her name twice during the royal council, where women are not allowed to be present, let alone heard.

I’ve learnt that 부인 could mean either Madam or wife, so YeoHwa would’ve been especially moved when SuHo called her that tenderly in his drunken state. Also amusing that she asked Jeong to stop calling her that (부인), and to call her “honey”.

I also liked that it was a shorter series (12 episodes) so it’s a high 8 out of 10 for me 😁
