The family meeting. SC is not going back to Seoul. He wants to stand on his own two feet and be independent. 👏🏽 HI also announces that she’s staying with HW in his small apartment. Before I read what you wrote, I’m just going to put down my impressions.
Kim Soo Hyun makes a great ‘queen’. His crying is beautiful, plus he’s a beautiful crier, and I cried along with him at the Epilogue.
I kept thinking that if they know HI’s likely to lose her memory, then they should be video recording as much as possible to show her what her life was like before she gets the new-fangled treatment (something to do with bubbles? LOL)
We know that when Show gives us all the sweet couple scenes, it’s in preparation for some heartache times.
Of course, annoying, 2-D Eun Sang who’s so brainy but has only one obsession over HI, must hope to insinuate himself into HI’s life when she forgets everything, so as to create brand new memories with her and oust her rightful husband. He’s likely to lie endlessly to create a false history with her as well. In the meantime, he gets all of HI and HW’s things removed. HW’s things get returned to him but I wonder about their photos and the ultrasound of their unborn child. ES will want to remove traces of HI’s past with HW, so that he can start afresh as if he was the one she loved first.
Da Hye wants to call her ex-MIL Eomonie, because she has no mother of her own. She is surprised at herself that she has a conscience and that she appreciated being loved for herself and felt guilty towards Soo Cheol.
I liked that HI’s Mum did try to mend fences with HI and that HI accepted the gesture.
Heh! We finally get a scene with brother Hyeon Tae’s wife who cleverly gets him to report his wrongdoings to her in front of his mother, so that MIL will punish him for her!! Scary wife!!!
Every owner of a big departmental store should be a shopper in their own store (like HI was) and find out what works and what doesn’t for their customers.
I like that HW and the good guy team, including the exiled eldest son, Hong Beom Seok, are getting ES to expose himself and the fund, so that he can be charged for embezzlement, malpractice and violating foreign exchange transaction laws. (At the moment the good guys do not know that they can add murder to the list of crimes, as scammer-kidnapper Pyeon had disappeared after being killed).
The biggest rat is still Grace and I hope that she loses the money promised her by Seul Hee. I wonder if she is complicit in the killing of Pyeon.
I’m glad that Soo Cheol continues to stand up to his parents, especially his mum, and to protect Da Hye. However Da Hye still should do more to make amends for betraying him.

Predestination/Fate and First Loves
I like the sharing of HI’s 3 secrets with HW. She tells him that the MP3 player he had picked up after helping a girl who had fallen, was hers. HI says she had lost that MP3 in their schoolyard before going abroad for studies … “And look where it is now!”
HW is dumbfounded that they’d met before on the grounds of their school, and had actually been attracted to each other, but it was on the day before she was to leave Korea. Hence he looked for her but never found her.
HI says she won’t scold HW “Because I’m not the old me. I’ll be reborn soon.” HW stares at her, because she does not know how true her words really are. She continues: “I’m going to be optimistic and only see the good in life.”
HI teases that ES had said that he saved her before and she had thought that meant they were fated.
HW: “What? Fated? Jeez. Has he gone crazy of what? How dare he say that?” (Unfortunately the crazy ES still believes that.)
HI: “So what? We have our own movie-like story. When I saw you at the schoolyard, I thought, ‘Does this handsome kid go to my school? I can’t believe I’m leaving. I feel terrible.’ That’s what I thought.”
HW was able to describe how HI looked and what she wore that day, proving that he has a great memory and that she made an impression on him. “The minute I saw you, I thought, ‘My dream girl.’ I looked everywhere for you starting the next day.” HI is pleased. HW says she was like Cinderella who’d disappeared after leaving behind her MP3 player. (Sadly, HI was going to be Cinderella again, after her treatment/surgery. I wonder if that MP3 would help her remember HW as her real Prince Charming.)
HW: “But here we are. We crossed paths again, got married. We did get divorced, but still. This is what you call true fate.”
HI tears up when she realises that she can look forward to a future and one with HW.
HI: “Speaking of which…” HI puts on the diamond ring and takes back/withdraws the divorce. She promises not to go back again on her word or change her mind. He promises that he’d be beside her no matter if they fight or if she forgets her promises. She rests her head against him and says she’s happiest when she can just focus on his heartbeat.
Later, HI teases HW: She insists on getting together with her first love, much to HW’s dismay. She had described having a first love as “You’re happy to watch them from afar. You can’t stop thinking about them. You take a detour just to see them once more.” She hopes it will snow soon before the balsam dye on her little fingernail has faded away because if so, her first love will come true.
HW makes the first snow come earlier for HI in her department store, so that her wish comes true. HI is happy: “Things are looking up. All my wishes are coming true.”
She teases again: “I think my first love will come true too.” LOL and it takes HW forever to realise, even after she reveals her second secret, that she had followed his bus long ago, that he’s been her first love all along. HI in disbelief: “How did you ever get into SNU?”
The 3rd secret is that Yeong Suk the raccoon never existed LOL. HW had been duped for 4 years, thinking that the staff lounge had a raccoon living in it. (I wonder if this is an indication that HI is going to trick HW again. Perhaps she will remember him but pretend that she does not, so as to expose ES or his mum.)
I suppose it will only be at the penultimate episode that HI discovers that the real person who saved her from drowning was HW and not ES. So he was not only the first love but also the person most fated to be with HI.
In the kdrama universe of predestination/fate and first loves, HW and HI are destined to be together because they have repeatedly come across each other even when they had been strangers, and even after being several years apart, hence we expect that when HI loses her memory, she will meet HW as a stranger, but fall in love with him again, as she had done repeatedly.
Here’s a preview to one part of Episode 14.
I realised that a comment I erased actually was right.
Da Hye would be in trouble when Seul Hee finds out (which she did) that Da Hye returned to Soo Cheol. But when I thought that SH would make life difficult for her, I didn’t expect the extent to which SH would go. Seems like anyone who ‘betrays’ her as she sees it, needs to be got rid of.
Episode 14 – Phew another 1.5 hours almost!!! And a twist or 2.
Sigh. This drama is too much for my heart to take. Each episode takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions that exhausts my soul. The good scenes, e.g, sweet, lighthearted interactions between the leads, are too few and far in between that it does little to balance the heavy stuff. Hence, I have decided to pause watching this drama and only resume episodes 13-16 when all episodes are available. Meanwhile, I will enjoy it vicariously through reading your comments albeit the spoilers.
Hi @Dogtor, although I feel the same about the last 3 or so episodes of most melo sort of dramas, I know the end is usually going to pay off better for having watched through the portions that make me angry and sad.
In this Show, I’m interested in the Soo Cheol-Da Hye side story as well. The husband has no clue how to be the strong protector, but he wants to play that role, anyway.I wonder if Da Hye’s deciding to not leave him again is a parallel to HI’s not entirely forgetting HW.
This Show reminds me of some long-ago dramas where the protagonists wait endlessly for their special someone and the one they are waiting for is uncontrollably delayed just at the crucial moment, so a lot of shi*t takes place and a lot of misunderstandings. This actually feels quite familiar. The good news is that 99% of these kinds of dramas have a happy ending. After putting the audience through the wringer of emotions, Show knows it had better wrap up on a positive note!
While I felt for HW and HI, I was similarly taken with Soo Cheol and Da Hye. DH has to pay for her crimes, but at the same time, little Geon U will need a safe home to grow up in. There’s no better place for Geun U than with Soo Cheol who loves him as if he’s really his dad.
I’m also pleased that Show has not forgotten the hardly seen eldest son/brother Hong Beom Suk, and that his character is given a role in bringing Eun Sang to justice.
It’s also been good that Show has consistently shown HW and his lawyer friends as sticking to the law and using it to battle the bad guys successfully. I guess we’ll have to see how they manage to do it again to help HW.
I’ll also be interested to see how far Grace will defect back and forth. She’s an opportunist and money grubber, however she should be smart enough to see that if SH could see fit to kill even HI, and go after Da Hye, then she (Grace) herself is not safe once SH is displeased with her.
By the end, I’d actually like if ES comes to understand that just bulldozing into HI’s life is not a sign of love for her, but of selfishness and greed in himself. It might be too much to ask, but I’d like for him to make a decision where he chooses to be generous instead.
The main themes is a note on love and abandonment: they cannot co-exist if mutual, but when 1 party forgives, it’s possible to love again.
Seul Hee wants to define her mother’s love for ES through cheating others so that she can shower the spoils on ES, but she has lost his love and respect. Strange that she cannot see that. She’s sadly another 2-D villain with nothing else motivating her except taking from 1 family for her son.
HI’s mother emotionally abandoned HI, and only came to acknowledge her wrongdoing when she blamed herself for HI’s illness. It was fortunate that HI always hoped to have her mother’s love, despite putting up a prickly front.
HI also emotionally abandoned HW after they lost their baby. We don’t know how she became such a workaholic that she stopped spending time with HW. He was left alone to do battle with her family members who used him as their legal advisor.
HW finally decided to abandon HI through a divorce but she beat him to it by contracting the disease.
The most faithful of all was naive Soo Cheol. He was abandoned big time, but he never hesitated in forgiving and welcoming Da Hye back.
The irony is that HW and HI had to lose each other in order to realise that they valued what they had lost. They treated each other more as husband and wife during the months of their divorce, than they did for the 3 years of their marriage. The message is clear that we should value and work on our relationships before they become ‘lost’.

Ep 14 my recaps and thoughts
3 years ago- in their honeymoon. Walking through a park cemetery. “If you die before I do, I’m going to live one more day and then follow you. How will I ever live without you?
Honeymoon montage 💗 lots of sweet moments, kisses, wishes on fountain ⛲️ ending with dating prayers in the church.
ES won’t give up on HI until he dies 😮
HW has been going to church to pray every morning. HI has been following him.
They go back to the lavender flower field to remind HW what memories mean to HI. She is nothing without them. 🥹 I agree. So praying for a miracle for HI 🙏🏾
Video call with the family. They thought they hanged up but HI could still hear them. 😭
Ms Moh went all the way to Yongdu-ri to persuade DH. SC’s mom finally showed her support for SC’s family.
At the hospital, HW talks to the doctor. HI disappears. She’s at the church . HW can’t find her. But he runs there. And finds the prayer written by HI. To cherish the memories she has. He finds her in tears. They hug. Don’t pray about dying. We will love each other again.
HW- the biggest waste for HI and he proves it. All these women are ogling him. And she does not like it. Funny how she wants him to unroll his sleeves haha 😆 ES saw them and he looked pissed.
Grace calls HW and he run to the car in time to see the truck of doom crash their car. He breaks with window with his bare hands and HI saw his grief coz he thought she died. He was so distraught he fell on his knees. HI goes down to hug and comfort HW. I feel this is a momentous moment that will help her decide to move forward with the surgery.
Thankfully HI wasn’t in the car coz she saw the Lucky 🍀 cart. Yap she’s getting th surgery coz she doesn’t like the idea of girls lining up to hug and comforting a hysterical HW hahaha. I don’t want to lose. I’m gonna keep my promise not to make you cry.
Looks like DH is gonna leave SC again coz the family is threatened 😩 a grown up man being abandoned. People are sneering. DH defends him and goes back to him.
HI and HW in the hospital bed. HI wants him to share his complaints because she’ll forget them anyways. Then she hands him a journal that she wrote to guide her new self after surgery.
I have a bad feeling about the first person she will see after surgery. The cops are coming to arrest someone. Is it ES or HW? Ugh it is HW. I knew it!!! He got set up by ES. Ugh!!! And ES took himself as her guardian. He even copied HW’s wounded hand 😫
HI’s memory are all disappearing.
HI remembers HW’s name. UGH ES is full of lies.
The first snow. ❄️ Will she remember her real first love? She sees her pinkie painted in balsam and she felt a pang. She’s in tears and we see HW looking out the window with tears as well. 💔
Epilogue. baek Hyun woo. Hi keeps repeating his name before she lost consciousness.
Preview. ES destroys HI’s journal. But HI’s will want what it wants and it will be BHW. 💕

I’ve been busy crying my heart out so I’m only commenting now. LOL!
I’ll choose my three highlights from both episodes just like Hae-in told three things to Hyun-woo.
Episode 13.
1 – The scene at Grandpa’s funeral where HI said her family could hold another funeral soon. You can feel how scared she was and how she really wants to live then. HW holding her hand whilst trying to stop his tears. 🙁
2 – HI’s disbelief that she can be cured, her cry of happy tears. I loved how HW just hugged her all night because she must have cried awhile. I loved my ‘good morning’ greeting’.
3 – First Love – Bus Man, No.372! I love how this scene was put together. HW trying to get HI to see the first snow and fulfilling her first love, it came true with him. 🙂
Episode 14.
1- Hae-in’s breakdown scene at church. So much tears. 🙁 I want to say that I liked all the church scenes because they just showed them praying and talking to God with their heart.
2 – Hyun-woo’s breakdown after the car accident thinking HI was in the car. More tears. 🙁
3 – DH and SC’s meeting at the amusement park after she tried to leave again. Sigh. I was in tears for them too.
