  1. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Thanks @pkml3. ๐Ÿ™‚

We have 6 more episodes of this series according to MDL and yes, I’m filled with hope (and I actually expect) that it will give us a more than satisfactory finale.

  2. I believe we will have a happy and more than reasonable ending. ๐Ÿ™‚ After all the running and waiting, IS and SJ deserve all the happiness too.

I am enjoying the OST too especially the one by Yoo Hwe Seung titled I Think I Did. It sounds like the song that made me fall in love with kdramas yonks ago. ๐Ÿ™‚

Kumawo for the new thread! Bow!

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi-5! @agdr03… I like the same song. I’ll be putting it into my USB/thumbdrive to play it when I drive. I need to get a few more songs. Wish I could sing along with them. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi-5 back @GB ๐Ÿ™‚

The whole OST is quite good. I do like BWS’s voice too. I’m not surprised at all that he can sing, I think most Korean actors can sing well. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love singing with the OST so I usually go to YouTube and sing along those videos with lyrics. hahaha This is just me, no one else around obviously. LOL!

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@agdr03, Yes, I’d need to see the lyrics if I want to sing along LOL. Can’t do it when I drive!!!

  6. Kalimera @Packmule3 and thank you for the thread!

Let us see what it will happen next… o.O

  7. Hello @GB Unnie and @Agdr03!

Kalimera and let’s have a nice week!

  8. @GB, but if you’ve memorized the song, you can just sing along while you drive. hahaha

@Cleo, I’m looking forward to IS and SJ’s dating era! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. @agdr03,

Like all of us are looking forward! <3

The real question is: Are we going to get only one episode on their dating era?

  10. Hello, all. Thank you for the thread, @packmule3.

Yes, the songs are very good but my family would complain if I played them in the car! Roll their eyes – shut the windows so I don’t pollute other drivers – put their headphones in. Tsk.

  11. Hi @Fern, we all have the same family. hahaha

@Cleo, they’ve been stingy with QOT so they better make it up here in LR. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. @agdr03,

I do hope we will get to see them as a couple in the Updated Timeline as well.
So far we have Episode 8 for reference…LOL

  13. Kalimera @Fern,

These days, I also like: Eclipse’s – I’ll be there!

  14. Ok thank you @pm3 for the thread !

Reg. The OST, Sudden Shower/Sonaki entered Melon TOP 10 today and is charting in Top 10 on all domestic Korean! What !

I’m following this charting for purely, purely the shock of it. I don’t even listen to the song that much ๐Ÿ˜œ

Additionally, Run Run has entered Top 100 !

Reg. The screenplay, I’d like to submit for the perusal of gentle ladies here,

this writer is good part #3

Ep 8, 34 yo SJ when he finds the clock in the time capsule, winds the clock COUNTER-CLOCKWISE twice. The clock hand doesn’t move. And remains at about 8.23 because it’s wound incorrectly.

In ep 10, when 20 yo SJ finds it prematurely because he thinks something is fishy with Sol, he winds it correctly CLOCKWISE 3 TIMES and the hand starts moving. Shot ends at 8.24.

Does this mean third time’s a charm ? Sol will succeed?

Check exhibit #4 in below post:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/C6z_qa9v91I/?igsh=MW1zeHllcmtqOTJ2dg==

    This writer is good #4

In both timelines, the tragic events follow EXACTLY the same sequence. Both ep 7 beginning (accident T0) and accident/abduction T2 (after Sol returns to present) ep 9 are exactly the same. Very creepy because then, the audience will get to know before Sol as to what will happen. In both, criminal attacks both Sol and SJ.

  15. Thank you for the good wishes, @pm3! Will reasonable be like โ€œbeyond reasonable doubtโ€ in court? Lol!
Still have not resumed watching ep 9 and 10. Will look for clues if my patience will not be tried with ep 11 and 12. I hope noble idiocy does not prevail. I want a smart heroine, pleaseโ€ฆ.

  16. @Janey you can rest assured. We were through with it by ep 10 itself. No Noble Idiocyโ„ข๏ธ !

This is a “dual/mutual salvation timeslip romance” per TvN so at some point I expect the duality of salvation to come through aka Sol to please gather herself and beat arse, thank you.

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @Cleo, @agdr03, @Janey, @Arihsi, @Fern
I see we’re all waiting excitedly here some 6-12 hours in advance!!!

Thanks @Cleo, I like “I’ll be there” too! I want to get the songs individually to listen to.

@agdr03, unfortunately, I’m not one of those people who pick up songs easily enough to sing it after hearing it a few times, with the lyrics intact!

@Janey and Arihsi, yes, I never did read the TvN notice but from quite early on, I realised that our OTP take turns to cover each other with their umbrella in rain or snow. It was such a huge Easter egg on their mutual protection of each other LOL.

  18. Hey Unnie!

To be honest with you only “Lovely Runner” made us want to watch an episode so badly. LOL For me that is the case anyway!

    Yes, I like that song too… ๐Ÿ™‚

There are several spoilers out and about for the upcoming episode. ๐Ÿ™„

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Arihsi, thanks! I went back to watch to double check. No wonder I found something weird about that scene.

So how do you interpret the incorrect winding of the clock? Do you think the writer and director deliberately put it in there to say that this time jump would fail, because the clock would not start moving?

Or did they just not want the clock to start moving yet or did no one catch that BWS was winding it up incorrectly? LOL.

  20. Hee hee hee @GB and @Cleo, yes I’m waiting too !!

I’ve seen all the spoilers and more @cleo. That’s why I’m so interested to know who’s “spoiler theory” is most correct ๐Ÿ˜‚

The drama has not been very predictable so far. Like no one predicated that SJ will figure it all out by himself and that too as early as Ep 10.

So I’ll be thrilled if the writer proves at least some of the theories wrong.

I still remember In Hyuk being in the bathtub at ep 7. That was hilarious and absolutely no one predicated it… LoL !

  21. @GB everyone thinks the scene is deliberate. The time doesn’t “restart” for SJ after Sol’s second return. When he winds the clock, he’s on time Sol “borrowed” for him by delaying his death/grave injury.

The clock remains frozen at 8.23. People assume 23 to be 2023.

Additionally, I don’t know if you noticed mine and @Fern’s chat on earlier thread.

The orange pocket watch appears as early as Ep ONE. Sol keeps it in her treasure box, heavily protected by pom pom balls right under Sun Jae’s watch.

Before she puts the heat pad given by Sun Jae in ep one in that treasure box, the box contained only two items. Two watches and one of them is Sun Jae’s. That’s it. It’s unknown who’s the original owner of this orange case watch. It looks old style ???

  22. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Arihsi, the bathtub occupant guesswork was totally hilarious.

    Ad Hoc Thoughts
Just rewatched the leak in the video rental shop and started to wonder what it was with Tae Sung being around either during a fire or when the risk of one or a risk of electrocution was possible. LOL

One thing I do notice about this series is that several times plot movement depends entirely on coincidence. Like how Tae Sung was just outside the self-defence store and IS met him again, (I thought Show could have engineered their meeting through Det Kim, his dad), or how IS overhears outside the PE Dept changing room that SJ was leaving that day. There were other instances of over-hearing and just coincidences. Other than that, and perhaps some bits that we’re still waiting to know, the show’s pretty well written.

If the wind-up clock was already in Sol’s possession in Ep 1, a wilder, loop-de-loop possibility is that it was placed there by future IS to help restart time for SJ. ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿซจ๐Ÿคฏ

Ep 11, I wonder if the kiss we end with in Ep 10 will make IS return to her time. She returns at some height of emotion scene and it may happen again. Poor SJ!

So we will enter 2023 when the 5th full-length album, ‘Destiny’ is released… I hope we get a couple more songs! And wouldn’t you know it, I was in so much of a rush, I didn’t notice that Eclipse only has 3 band members now!!! What a significant change this is!

(Could it be that 34yo vanishes from 2009 and SJ is suddenly rejected by 19yo IS, so he really does go overseas instead of joining Eclipse? Maybe we get a 34yo SJ who’s a swimming coach! LOL)

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Arihsi the time 8:23 totally fits 2023 because in a 24-hour clock, 8 o’clock is 20:00 hours! So even though SJ starts the clock in 2009, we still have to get back to 2023 to make the new timeline start moving properly, with all the relevant changes in place.

  24. Unnie and @Arihsi,

I also agree with this one.

I don’t have time to rewatch, but now our concentration should be : the vintage clock. Since it is the one who moves time forwards.

It might be the key to the mystery. We shall see.

  25. @Arihsi,

It is not too early. We were watching the C-Drama “Reset” with @GB Unnie two years ago? I won’t do spoilers, but I am starting to think that this is kinda a time loop.

Mostly because of the watches and the fact that things are happening in an exact way. You described this with @Fern in the previous thread.

So, we need to learn more about that orange clock because it might be the answer to the question we are posing. I also have written that above !LOL

  26. Growing Beautifully (GB)

@Cleo, I’ve thought of ‘Reset’ too and of ‘A Time Called You’. The possibility of a time loop remains. I mentioned above that the clock in Ep 1 might have come from the future. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜Š

  27. Oh goodness gracious @cleo and @GB… I just realised …IF it’s a time loop,

The drama opens at 22 July, 2009 on day of solar eclipse at ep one. Many of us noted that in spite of having a major accident, September 1, 2008 to July 22 2009 is rather a long time for rehab.

BUT if it’s a LOOP, and the accident happened on May 10th, 2009, she can still be in rehab in July if it’s a major accident.

Then, when SJ goes to that radio show in ep one and calls her…. All these memories of her three time travels (2 in school and one in college) are with SJ ? She’s LOVED him so much already by then and he KNOWS ? WHAT ? what type of absolute emotional torture is that ?

No wonder he lowers his eyes after calling her from the radio station and sighs… “Sol-ah” with so much longing end ep 4.

God it will hurt if she says she doesn’t remember who Ryu (pause) Sun (pause) Jae (pause) is…. After ALL of this.

What’s more… Sol becomes his ardent fan thinking she’s just a “fan” because she doesn’t remember. But actually she’s always loved him. Oh goodness.

I better keep my trusty tissue box handy.

  28. Now that I’ve thought some more, it doesn’t need to be a loop for this to happen.

Original timeline accident was September 1, 2008 when Sol shouts at an SJ waiting outside her hospital room.

Timeline 2 accident happened on May 10th, 2009 but SJ saved Sol and her legs.

Timeline 3 Sol may not allow SJ to save her. She gets hurt May 10th, 2009 and returns to 2023. The Sol that remains is the original one who doesn’t remember SJ anyway. Thus the Sol we have on July 22, 2009 at Ep 1 won’t remember SJ even if it’s not a loop.

But by then, SJ has been dearly loved by her and pushed out of harm’s way at her cost. Even if she doesn’t remember doing that, HE does. The nation le internet is going to cry.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Arihsi, and now with the big change in Eclipse, IS will no longer be an ardent fan even!!! [Unless she really becomes a fan of swimming or some sports that SJ ends up doing (just as she pretended to be in Ep 1-2 where she admired her imaginary dog for swimming so well and so was a fan of SJ who swam well too LOLOL)]

But horrors! If she’s not even a fan in the next return to 2023, will they at least be friends? Remembered as neighbours? Will Tae Sung remember his promise to tell his dad to keep SJ safe?

The thing that IS said to TS – that she couldn’t tell SJ to protect himself in 2023 because she herself would be her earlier self who would know nothing – kind of scares me. How does she know that she will not retain her memories? Won’t she return to 2023 as the IS we know, since she’s done so twice already or does she realise that she’ll return too late to stop the killer?

Are we going to lose her just as the 2009 romance begins? But the thing is this, how can the IS we know totally just disappear? Somewhere in the return jump, there can only be one IS with one set of memories, merged with the events of the past and present, or the poor girl will go crazy.

But while unchanged IS who never time jumped will keep not knowing anything, at least now we have 2 guys who will know and remember and watch out for her. TS and SJ should keep each other company in the knowledge that they have to live on til 2023 to meet their 34yo IS again.

  30. @GB I don’t think time traveller Sol should have any trouble in finding SJ because although he may not be a part of Eclipse, he has to be rich and famous simply because this is a kdrama and he’s the main lead ๐Ÿ˜œ Also, Sonaki ! Where will we throw it if SJ is no longer in showbiz ? It refuses to be ignored as I mention in the charting above.

I think he’ll be rich, famous and waiting for Sol to recognise him. Thus the ep 4 SJ says on the bridge – “she doesn’t remember.” Because time flows LINEARLY for him, he’s waited for her across 3 lifetimes. Clue tears ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The girl has seen 3 lifetimes in 6 months and lost the love of her life twice. What’s more, she doesn’t remember large parts of her life in all three timelines. We suspect something terrible happened to her in T0 too. You go girl. Your best is enough. Cue some more crying ๐Ÿคง

  31. Unnie,

That’s why I also found this Creator cruel in the first place. Sol doesn’t incorporates her memories in the past. Only Sol in the 2023 timeline does and remembers her time travels could go crazy.

Younger Sol (in the past) needs to realize that something has changed those three times, she doesn’t remember the past.

Also, IF this time around she loses her mobility again, her family and her BEST FRIEND will remember that she was dating Sun Jae. Also, Tae Sung remembers. Basically, everyone will remember, but her and that makes it even more depressing for me.

I do hope that Sol in the past will be told that she was dating Sun Jae and she doesn’t remember it because of the accident…

@Arihsi, still, it is too much for both of them to deal with this. 14 years to pass from 2009 to 2023, it is really a very long time. Sun Jae will still pine for her, Sol would not remember, until she does… Hence the Creator is not only cruel, but also sadistic.

  32. Even if they don’t go this way, I’m moved to tears just by the thought of this storyline. ๐Ÿคง*Ugly cries inside and appears tough outside because hashtag real life*. Shh.

  33. I canโ€™t wait to watch todayโ€™s episode tomorrow after work. It looks hilarious ๐Ÿคฃ

  34. I think I’ll wait. ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿซฃ*Closes shutters*

  35. @Arihsi,

I will watch it shortly…๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜ˆ LMAO!

  36. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo and @Arihsi, I am watching Ep 11 right now and I really am LMAO loudly!!!!

  37. Tomorrow the phenomenal “Spring Snow” by 10cm is releasing… It’s the “I’m falling slowly in love with you” song that has been playing when 34 yo SJ meets or sees Sol in 2023. I’m pretty sure we might return to present again.

  38. Given that, the peak moment for me was singing of Sonaki today. It was unpolished, as if sung by a fresh singer in a non-fancy sound system as opposed to the “experienced” and polished feel of the 2023 concert. It’s the same actor, same aged so it was very cool to see the difference.

  39. @GB Unnie,

    I cannot stop laughing… ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

  40. What an episode!

I do hope tomorrow, we will see more sweet moments. ๐Ÿ™

Ah, one shot and one opportunity… ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

  41. Episode 11: a well-balanced mix of cuteness and hilarity. It felt like a penultimate episode and finale setup. Is this really a 16 episode drama?

  42. Hey @SnowFlower!

    Yes, it is!

  43. Hi all, thanks for sharing your thoughts and theories! 20:23 on the clock is too cool.

Wasn’t that epilogue the sweetest (and prettiest).

Love the live band version of Sudden Shower too!

  44. Episode 11 spoilers below:

I thought it was hilarious that Sun Jae’s dad was taking the rap for Sun Jae borrowing the VHS tape and for all of those condoms just to protect Sun Jae, and also because he’s not afraid to be seen as a manly man. ๐Ÿ˜† Lol. Wasn’t Grandma cool to preside over the tribunal? Also to leak to Im Sol that her mother and father were all ‘octopus tentacles’ when they were dating and that’s why Mother got pregnant? ๐Ÿ˜‰

But how could there be a crash just as the killer was arrested? ๐Ÿ˜ง And was Tae Sung’s father killed or badly injured? If so, that would add to Im Sol’s burden of guilt, but it could also motivate Tae Sung to continue to protect her into the future.

We get a return of strange music CEO, so I imagine that he will sponsor Eclipse and the band will once again have 4 members in 2023. Fate isn’t letting go of too many of the main events, right?

Yes I need to know more about the history of the watch and the clock, more about Grandma and how she ‘knows’ things, more about the motives of the murderer.

  45. I am curious why the villain targets IS in 2008/09 and SJ in 2023, and not the other way around. I hope the show gives us an answer.

And yes, grandma knows things. Is it intuition or factual knowledge?

  46. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @Snow Flower, @Fern, @Cleo, @Arihsi, @Hana, agdr03
When we put together the number of things we don’t know yet, based on your comments above, I’m just a wee bit worried.

It reminds me of the number of challenges that piled up for our main protagonist in Queen of Tears, and how that built up our expectations for a great deal more of a pay off at the end, after we had soldiered on … only to be disappointed.

Similarly, by holding back on information that explains or answers our many valid questions, Show is making us hang on episode by episode in the hopes that we’ll get answers. We want a resolution not only to the OTP’s happy ending, but to the whys for what’s been happening.

That was the problem with QoT in reverse… we had a whole lot of resolution WRT the bad guys’ motives and comeuppance but too little emotional pay off for the OTP.

We are hoping that the ultimate resolution will indeed resolve plot points that are just hanging in limbo, as well as give us a satisfactory and happy ending for our OTP.

    List of Questions:
    1) What is the origin of the wind-up clock?
    2) Why should the watch work as a time machine?
    3) Which came first… IS being targeted by Killer or SJ being targeted?
    4) What does IS not remember, and does she have selective amnesia?
    5) Is the Killer targeting IS because he failed to kill her the first time or is there another reason?
    6) Is the murdered victim at the reservoir significant to the plot?
    7) Does the Killer time travel too?
    8) Does Killer have an accomplice?
Feel free to add on your questions!!

To what @Snow Flower said about Ep 11 feeling like the penultimate one, yes… another cause for worry is that this episode was too sweet. We experienced drama-watchers know that when that happens, there’s going to be a dive into angst in the following episode. I’m all set to watch with finger on FFD just in case the scenes get too angsty for me.

For the first time, Show actually gives us the scene of time standing still in 2023. That being the case, as long as IS can stay in 2009, the latest change is that Eclipse has 3 members and a 5th full-length album. (This is the WHAT WOULD have happened had SJ not gone into acting in the T1 timeline ie the one in which he was depressed. Eclipse would have produced 5 albums instead of only having 1 concert in the last 5 years.)

Since IS has not yet returned to 2023, and the Music CEO pops up in 2009, then changes may still take place. There may yet be 4 members in Eclipse by the end of the next episode or so. If SJ can be happy as a famous singer, then I’d really like him to be part of Eclipse!!!

  47. @snow flower I think 2008/09 killer only goes for Sol – fails to kill her because of Sun Jae – gets JAILED – Comes out and decides to take away SJ as revenge – This is my idea because in all timelines, SJ saves Sol and gets the killer jailed. If not for SJ, the killer would be roaming around free. That’s why Sol thinks she’s responsible for SJ’s death.

  48. @GB what happened to QoT (aka letting down of expectations) has happened to us before! Remember TKEM ? We theorized SO much… Much more that anything we’ve done for LR.

For LR we have only a couple of theories

    1) The victim of murder may have been Sol’s father. And thus “what” she doesn’t remember. And the “what” she saw

    2) the pocket watch may originally belong to someone close to Sol. Her dad or grandpa ?

    3) Sol partially answers the “why” of time travel. She could because she was indebted to SJ in all timelines.

    4) she may pay the “price” of saving SJ and be okay with it.

That’s all really. Of course we have the questions you listed (I don’t think the killer time travels. Only one time traveller) but we don’t have many theories.

We’d like the show to resolve our questions of course. But given the number of scenes of the OTP we’ve already seen, I think we’d continue to enjoy them in remaining ep. At least I hope so.

Ohhh TKEM… Really. We analysed down to the TREE in his yard and the show never answered the simplest of our questions. Didn’t show OTP scenes either. Only showed us LMH from every angle in every episode. Where is he these days ?

  49. Annyeong,

    EP 11 ~ recap ๐Ÿ’•

ISโ€™s mom passed by while our OTP are kissing LOL. Love how SJ hides IS in his jacket.

At a cafe, SJ was more worried about his reputation which is valid coz ISโ€™s mom is already thinking heโ€™s naughty haha ๐Ÿ˜† to appease IS I like what he promised – โ€œwhen you leave in a month, meet me there in the futureโ€. His right hand cups her right face and said โ€œ Iโ€™ll run to you. To 2023, where you are.โ€ ๐Ÿ’•

SJ is so cute when he changes ISโ€™s monicker on his phone to SOLโ™ฅ๏ธ. Funny coz heโ€™s so in love he added so many hearts after โ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ

SJโ€™s dad came home from drinking and was not expecting him to be home – this is hilarious!! The power was out and SJ had a face mask on and the dad fainted upon seeing him ๐Ÿคช when his dad came to, SJ reassured him that his heart is no longer in swimming- who knows heโ€™ll be famous and have fans in the future ๐Ÿ˜Ž

IS was able to call the detective and gave him the truckโ€™s license plate. She also had a glimpse of the future where the eclipse is made of only 3 members without SJ ๐Ÿ˜ณ

ISโ€™s mom ended up telling SJโ€™s dad what she saw last night. Omg!!! So he asked SJ if the reason he stayed is because of a girl. SJ is so cute when he said โ€œanyaโ€ haha. Heโ€™s so guilty!

Outside, he waited for IS. Awww they embraced with big smiles and held hands on the way to the school. ๐Ÿ’• They were going to keep their status a secret but they got caught red handed ๐Ÿคช

IS found out that Eclipse was able to pass the audition without SJ. Sheโ€™s blaming herself again if ever SJ doesnโ€™t become a famous singer in the future. But SJ doesnโ€™t care.

On their first date, SJ got them a couple pink/blue bear charm phone strap ๐Ÿ’•

On the way home, SJ helped IS catch a falling blossom petal and they made a wish together ๐Ÿ’• but SJ thinks his wish already came true and he gave her a few stolen kisses haha. They wanted to hang out some more, so they ended up hanging out at the video store watching a movie then IS fell asleep and they stayed there til morning ๐Ÿ’•

Another hilarious moment- ISโ€™s bro found them and IS was holding on to his shirt and it ripped showing part of SJโ€™s chest- a frenzy ensued that got ISโ€™s mom involved then SJโ€™s dad appeared to the rescue – the dad took the blame for the โ€œrated R movieโ€ and the condoms that flew all over out of his bag ๐Ÿคฃ omg. IS and SJ were separated like Romeo and Juliet – โ€œa time for usโ€ *love theme* is playing in the background ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅน

The following day, both families came together to settle things about the rental of the VHS movie, the ripped Shirt, and the condoms. Hilarious!! Thankfully Cho Rong arrived to the rescue ๐Ÿคช

TS met with IS to confirm that the owner of the truck is indeed Kim Young Soo ๐Ÿ˜ค. IS was gonna treat him to dinner but SJ arrived. As her current BF, he took TS out instead. And they got drunk together ๐Ÿคช they woke up in the same bed together – apparently they even did karaoke before that ๐Ÿคช they both like IS and now they both know about the villain ๐Ÿฅธ

Detective Lee called IS to let her know the good news- they caught the villain!

Eclipse is playing their last gig and TS helped advertise it. SJ was a guest vocalist that night and he sang his song for Sol ๐Ÿ’• looks like their future manager is there that night too.

Meanwhile, the vehicle carrying the villain got into an accident. Everyone was bloody and the villain got away ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฌ

Epilogue- their wishes: happiness for the other person and to be happy together forever ๐Ÿ’•

Preview: looks like Sol and the boys goes for a beach ๐Ÿ๏ธ outing ๐ŸŒŠ

  50. Haha thanks for the fun recap @HK_lady

@GB @Arihsi Oh no, I donโ€™t want to have to worry for our OTP!
I hope the camp legend and their cherry blossom wishes ๐ŸŒธ come true. The clock started ticking again so that must portend something good, right?

Itโ€™s interesting that Sol could see the future 3-person eclipse band. What else will she be able to see?

Did SJ survive back in 2023?

  51. @Hana

I don’t think Sol can see the future. What she’s seeing is the PAST. Just like she “saw” the whole abduction in T2 when SJ went through the window in her “dream”. This is ep 7. She comes back from her second time travel, goes to sleep and “sees” the abduction. This abduction has already HAPPENED to T2 original IS that she left behind in 2008.

Similarly, an IS was present at this 3 people concert in an earlier timeline. Notice no Sun Jae in the performance of her falsh back.

She CHANGES this when she remembers that this is how it was in the PAST. In earlier timeline probably because T2 Sol threw away the manager card from SJ’s uniform. We are shown this specific shot as well. Due to this probably SJ didn’t sing and we got a three member Eclipse. Our T3 Sol in 2009 remembers this and tries to drag SJ to sing again. Because he ENJOYED singing. This is key for me. Sol wants to SJ to sing because HE loves it โค๏ธ

He sings and his future manager is present. The future has changed again ladies.

@Fern, you have reminded me about Grandma. She seems to be both a side-character who might both be forgotten from time to time, as well as be a possible pivotal link between IS and SJ, and between the past and future IS.

For reasons unknown to us, SJ has found favour with Grandma. Perhaps she’s tapped into the mind of her future self and knows how much of a fan of SJ IS had been in one timeline or she has noticed how SJ cares about IS even in her current timeline.

Yes I loved how fair she was as an arbitrator.

The entire series of scenes from when IS and SJ woke up in the shop got me laughing so hard, because I anticipated all the hoo-hah that would erupt. Show really played up the comedy to the hilt for this episode. Everyone’s timing and expression was on point and LOL SJ’s dad trying to take the blame for every suggestive thing laid at SJ’s door. This is Kim Won Hae in one my favourite roles.

I hope the ripe smelling luggage gets sent back soon!

  53. Reg. Worry about our OTP, I’d worry more about all of them given how happy they are WHERE in preview ep 12

If I were the writer, the odds are heavily stacked against Sun Jae. He is outnumbered 1 by 3 if he has to save them from drowning. I’d bet In Hyuk can’t swim even if TS can. Plus it’s the SEA not static water (like a lake) or a pool.

He is up against the SEA to save not one but THREE people he holds close to his heart with a life altering shoulder surgery just 6 months back and no rehab. Wow.

He’d blame himself for life even if he fails for just one of them, let alone Sol.

  54. Fortunately, I’m not the writer so all of us (including me) can relax ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜„

  55. I love both the parents @GB and I also adore the positive relationship between all of them… Not just OTP. Too often, in kdramas, it is shown that ONLY the leads are each other’s support and they have no one else. This type of scenario is highly unsustainable not just undesirable.

But our leads have their parents, friends, siblings… It’s all in all so wholesome to watch…

  56. Episode 11

Good morning, all and thank you for recaps, thoughts and theories. Yes, this episode seems to be the lull before the storm. @Arihsi, your mention of the sea made me recall @Cleopatra’s idea that the killer seems to want water involved in his murders. Brrrr.

@H_K Lady, thanks for mentioning the couple key chains. They will show up again, maybe when og Im Sol needs confirmation of the relationship.

@GB, this is out in left field, so it’s just a theory:
I’m wondering if Grandma has some minor or latent shaman/oracle/seer powers, so that there is some good shaman v. bad shaman activity. Even if she can help a bit here and there it may be enough to affect the outcome. Seeing how she was at the trial, I wonder if what is called dementia in 2023 is actually a punishment from villain Kim Young Soo for interfering.

  57. Kalimera @GB Unnie, @Arihsi, @Fern, @SnowFlower @Hana @HK_Lady,

We are heading to the stressed part of the show. I don’t know if they will show anything in this episode or they will make it to Episodes 13 + 14.

Still, the real question today after the comic relief we got yesterday is one.

How the killer managed to subdue three police officers while in handcuffs. Was the one who made them have the car accident? If that is the case, all the Police Force should go looking for him and inform Sol to be careful.

  58. I suspect it might be today @cleo because

1)whenever SJ has sung Sonaki to Sol in previous timelines, tragedy has struck.

    2) They can’t have two back to back fillers.

Yes water @Fern ! Central theme of the show with SJ being an ace swimmer and it’s always raining or snowing in key moments. Given they’re at the sea, it fits. Good catch @cleo !

PS. Real life Sol, aka the actress KHH is a very good swimmer and a scuba diver. She’s been swimming since elementary school. What’s more, she can lift BWS, frankly a tree compared to her. It’ll be even easier in the water.

Its highly unlikely in the drama tho. She’s standing on a cliff ๐Ÿ˜ค

  59. @Arihsi,

We shall see. I was thinking Goblin when I was writing this one. If you remember in Episode 13 all hell broke loose… o.O

I don’t think that Episode 11 was a filler episode. They showed us the start of their relationship and it was needed because Sun Jae needs something to hold onto until they meet again in 2023.

Well, yes. Water is an important element in the culprit’s MO.

P.S. Did you write anything on MDL last night? If yes, then I commented below your commen! ๐Ÿ˜›

  60. Is there anyone who “looks” like me on MDL @cleo ???? Because that’s not me ! I am do not comment on any forum apart from BoD ! Do they write like me ?

  61. @Arihsi,

He / She used “sonaki” and when I read that I said, maybe that is @Arihsi’s handle on MDL? Hence I asked about it!

  62. @Cleopatra, I was thinking the same thing about the accident and handcuffs – 3 experienced officers against one handcuffed man. I wondered if there was an accomplice, but the killer limped off alone, so I don’t think so. Was it a random crash like a truck of doom? So maybe he knew how to escape handcuffs and could have somehow administered the drug to the driver to cause a crash? Or then given it to the others and taken the key from the one who cuffed him? So many options. If so, the killer was extremely lucky that he wasn’t knocked unconscious, too. I guess we will learn tonight. Fate still wants him alive for now.

  63. And I beg your pardon cara @cleo… “Filler” is an incorrect word because it means episodes like the horrendous My Demon – episodes which lead nowhere and serve no purpose. What I meant to say was “fluffy” ? “Nice” ? “Happy” ? You get my point… Something where the stakes weren’t amped up.

  64. @Fern,

He had the vital of the drug, but not a needle. So, what could he possible do?

Break the thing inside the car and the rest of them inhaled it?
Even that is true, the substance’s absorb won’t be the same because of the oxygen inside the car. The culprit didn’t use a cloth, he didn’t use a needle and he was the only one who got away unharmed, with a limp foot?

It is the most plausible scenario, but it is also far fetched. They caught him red handed and they didn’t take the vital away from him?

They fought inside the car, that is the only sure, but the driver most have lost his consciousness for some reason for the accident to happen. I don’t want to see a Truck of Doom here, it is lazy writing for me.

  65. Exactly @Fern. Time and again we’re learning that Sol can alter only LITTLE details. She can only change her personal responses to anything, such as noticing SJ, loving him back, keeping TS in loop, inspiring him etc. She is UNABLE to make big changes – big changes that sustain throughout anyway. For example. She tried to make SJ continue swimming – failed. She tried to stop him from becoming a singer (because she thought that was the reason of his depression) – failed, she tried to stop him from loving her and pushed him away the best she could – failed.

I’m scared to see her on that cliff because if something happens, we’ll be back to square one of this entire debacle that is, Sun Jae blaming himself for 15 years until the time traveller Sol finds him and sets him free with her love.

Therefore, I feel her RESPONSE to a crisis, WHEN the crisis stirkes is crucial.

PS – I am so interested to see how they shoot the sequence because this drama has shown that their camera work is very good. Case in point – SJ being stabbed ep 9 beginning. We’ve seen countless dramas stabbings but this was done differently.

  66. @Arihsi,

I hear you. Plot wise it was not a filler episode for me. It was an episode, where we got to see how good they are together as a couple. Yes, it had comic relief with their families, but having Halmeoni as the biggest ally, was the highlight of the Episode!

Still, I feel that Halmeoni could be a Deity figure in some way. The baddie doesn’t want them together, but Halmeoni does. They also have her blessing! *winks*

Thanks @HK_Lady ๐Ÿ˜˜ for the recap and thanks @Cleo ๐Ÿ˜˜ for the links to the songs ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽง. Now I can get them as standalone songs to play while I drive ๐Ÿš—. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‡

  69. The writer proves ALL spoilers (and my theories) wrong once again ! Omg…. So cool… Like so cool !

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Arihsi, since I avoided spoilers, I have to ask… which spoilers were proven wrong?

    I’ve watched EPISODE 12.

    Mild SPOILER

I find IS brave but foolish. Still playing the lone game so that no one else gets hurt.

  71. Growing Beautifully (GB)

Just occurred to me… IS thinks SJ dies while saving her, but not that Killer might be after both of them. At different times he targets a different person. When they’re together he can get them both.

  72. @GB if there was a name for trauma relived, it’d be Sol. She relives a same trauma again and again and again. She has no way to stop it either.

If we talk about Noble Idiocy, the whole drama is that only. Their willingness to die for each other. In spite of knowing he gets hurt, Sun Jae goes running around the areas of their previous abduction.

If we praise Sun Jae for being willing to die for her, she would deserve the same praise for actually taking that path.

Pray tell, what other option does she have ? Face the criminal together? She’s tried that. It doesn’t work. Plus she has those “visions” now which I’m not longer sure come from past or present.

    About spoilers,

Ha ha ha… Lots of them around YT and stuff @GB…

  73. @GB we’re still missing crucial info from timeline T0. Word is on the street that child Sol has been cast.

The possibility of this ending badly is quite literally zero.

What means a “bad ending” for a rom-com ? The death of one of the leads ? But in our case that has already happened twice. That they suffer through long periods of seperation? Already happened twice, will happen one more time. That one of them become disabled and unhappy? Rare of kdramas but in our case that has ALSO happened. That one of them has amnesia? ALSO happened. Gosh.

The only possibility remains is that of their happiness.

I don’t think there’ll be prolonged angst looking at how this drama has gone so far. Sun Jae already figures out what Sol did by ep 13 preview.

  74. Our resident author @cleo who has been correct on so many occasions (she predicated correctly for ep 13 too)… @cleo reassures me that there is nothing to worry too ๐Ÿ˜‰

  75. For your light entertainment while waiting for next episodesโ€ฆ.

The actor Byeon WooSeok is the special guest on last Sundayโ€™s โ€œRunning Man.โ€ The whole show parodied โ€œLovely Runner.โ€

  76. I also watched today’s episode…

All I want to say for now is: Sunny… โค๏ธ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ˜ญ

P.S.@Arihsi don’t worry. This is a rom com. We will get our HEA. โค๏ธ

    After all, Sol’s Oppa said:
“A door closes, and a door opens. There’s no happiness without paying a price.”

Sol will pay the price for her Noble Idiocy. She might lose her mobility and that’s the price she has to pay. She will be alive…Sun Jae will arrive again at the scene.

In 2023,they will be together in the end.

    Gwenchana…!

  77. Thank you @Packmule3! I do hope you are okay! ๐ŸŽˆ

They are heavily booked! I read that BWS’s agency is promoting him more, making Kim Hye Yoon’s fans to protest that her Agency is not doing much.

So, after that, articles were posted that next week both of them will go to “Salon Drip”, but the Episode will air in June!

Wook Seok also will do his first fan meet and Hye Yoon also has some interviews, etc.

  78. Thank you for the information about Running Man, @packmule3. I saw a short video on YouTube, but it wasn’t translated at the time nor was the episode. I’ll have another look now.

    Episode 12 spoilers:

I wondered why Sun Jae stayed on the train despite Im Sol’s words or why he didn’t get Tae Sung to help out. I know from the episode preview that she’s faking it, but even if she wasn’t – the girl would be so confused to be in a remote area by herself and possibly without a way home. It just wouldn’t do to leave her alone. Tsk.

@Arihsi, I’m confused about the visions, too, especially the one on the cliff edge.

On a lighter note, I thought that Volkswagens beetles used to be known for being water-tight for quite a long period of time. So I was wondering why they didn’t call someone with a winch right away before Sunny became a 4 wheeled octopus trap. Just me being too logical, I suppose. Or it was perhaps older models 1950s/1960s and not more recent ones.

  79. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Episodes up to Ep 12 Ad Hoc Thoughts
Writer-nim seems to have suddenly added a new feature to this time jump phenomenon. Now not only does IS have to worry about present-2009 or her present-2023 but she starts to get flashes of likely present-present happenings!!! When this sort of thing happens in the last 5 episodes, I wonder about the logic of the time jumps. Is Writer-nim suddenly inserting new rules to push the plot? If this was planned way in advance and we were given no notice, what is triggering it…why is it happening only now?

IS who is suddenly gifted with the knowledge of what could happen in the very near future, actually now has the advantage of foresight!!! Should she not then avoid that dangerous circumstance and situation as she’s done before (with less foresight)? Is it not rather ‘fatalistic’ of her to just follow through according to her ‘visions’? Why not turn the tables on ‘fate’?

As I mentioned above, she seems to think that if she gets hurt/killed or whatever, it will end there and then SJ will be safe, but she could be very wrong. Perhaps our Killer (who is thus far a mere plot device with only a name, with no life or background, no known rationale) has it out for SJ anyway and will get him after he gets IS.

Once again, plot depends on coincidence. At just the moment when IS calls mum in the shop, Killer is there to overhear it. It is obviously difficult to bring Killer and IS together in a more organic way.

If Killer needs to overhear stuff so as to know where to go next, does that mean he is not really a time traveler with prior knowledge?

  80. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Fern, I believe we were given to understand that Killer was able to disrupt the driving of the police car so badly that it crashed, and he amazingly was conscious enough to get himself free of the handcuffs. I also believe we need to just go with the flow on this and not question it too much.

I’m glad TS’s father is alright. I was quite touched by TS’s reaction to seeing his dad’s bloody clothes.

To your question on SJ remaining on the train… once again I feel it is in aid of the plot. It does not make sense. He only really figured out that she was bluffing when he got home, I think, however, knowing that she’s a girl alone with a Killer loose after her, I’d have thought he should still have gotten off the train, and that he might keep an eye on her, just in case.

Instead, he simply believed that she would find her own way home (Why? She could just have sat on some empty seat away from him on the same train since the ticket was already bought, if she was uncomfortable being with him) and let her go off by herself.

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    More Ad Hoc Thoughts
Were SJ’s Dad and Sunny, the car events just comedic moments?

What purpose did FJ’s dad’s bathroom and Tae Sung’s Sunny fiascos serve? It has begun to feel like filler has been introduced, even from the Ep 11 sweet scenes.

I was wondering if there’s a message in those circumstances. We said that water plays a part in much of the ‘accidents’ but here we find laughably that SJ’s Dad has no water to even rinse his hair. Did the poor man not only suffer hunger but thirst in his own bathroom?

He was disgusted with having to use the water in the toilet bowl, but needs must! (Message 1? Might it be the case that IS or SJ too must do the unthinkable out of desperate need? LOL)

What was TS doing, showing off his lovely car only to not park it properly on the road??? How did it get off the road and roll down so far? (Message 2? Even with the best of intentions, there’s still no accounting for human error and the unpredictable.)

At the end of Ep 12, the epilogue shows us that IS notes, her future has changed again, but this time it’s an unfavourable change. It has become clearer that while she goes back with good intentions, things don’t always go the way she expects, just because she tried so hard. Matters have become unpredictable now, so that her warnings about the 10 May Killer activity may no longer be valid.

Was it in the preview that she wonders if it would have been better if she’d never met SJ? In her defence I guess we must say that there is no way she could have done nothing. She would always have had to try to make things better, no matter what. The irony is that she could also inadvertently make things worse. So Message 1 and Message 2 may apply!!!

  82. Annyeong,

    ***spoiler alert โ€ผ๏ธ

    EP 12โ€ฆ recap

    Regarding his performanceโ€ฆ
    IS: You were amazing!
    SJ: How much?
IS: This much! *Raising her arms as high and wide as she can.
SJ: thatโ€™s it? *he wraps his arms around her and carries her to the bench-love her wide eyes* now sheโ€™s taller than her and her arms way higher ๐Ÿ’“ thatโ€™s more like it ๐Ÿ˜Ž way more amazing indeed!!! Hahaha

TS went to see his dad in the hospital. He got caught crying thinking his dad died. Awww ๐Ÿฅฐ

Breaking news: the villain is on the loose ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

IS met with Detective at the villains hideout. She wants to be the bait on May 10. SJ followed her. He went into the building.

IS & SJ at her house. SJ went to her room checking her windows have locks and her taser is workingโ€ฆ when they heard a noise. They go out armed- SJ with a baton and IS with the taser. ๐Ÿคฃ Sure enough, IS accidentally tased her brother ๐Ÿ˜‚. Oh my. IS is having a hard time supporting the JH-Geum-ship.

SJ and IS went to see BIH at his place only to find TS there. IH went home and TS offered to drive them in his new bug called โ€œsunny.โ€ How cute ๐Ÿฅฐ I want a yellow mini cooper and call her sunshine hehe โ˜€๏ธ

They saw IH on the beach and they thought he was committing suicide. When he was just going for his floatie LOL. The real sad thing was sunny the VW in the ocean ๐ŸŒŠ poor sunny!! Funny when they all bow their heads in respect for the dead ๐Ÿ˜ต haha. Now theyre stuck. IHโ€™s parents prepares a seafood feast for them. Daebak! I want!! ๐Ÿ˜›

IS calls her mom and the villain heard that sheโ€™s in Danpo-ri ๐Ÿฅต

The cute goat ๐Ÿ got loose and catching him was an adventure that led to some beach fun ๐Ÿคฉ and getting wet.

SJ tells IH: if the brightest moment of my youth arrives, I hope itโ€™s with you. Awwww ๐Ÿคฉ IH tears up.

TS confesses to IS that he didnโ€™t use her. That it was real. IS appreciated knowing that. Heโ€™s a good guy indeed.

IS realized that sheโ€™s missing her phone. On the way to the hill, IS had visions. Idk why SJ left her!??! And why she walked away??!! All of a sudden, sheโ€™s by the cliff???

When they got to the house, they have gone octopus fishing ๐Ÿคช they left without our OTP and TS is stuck in the boat. ๐Ÿคฃ

SJ used a virgin ghost ๐Ÿ‘ป excuse just so he can sleep in the same room as IS ๐Ÿคช. The tent setup is cute though. They shouldโ€™ve stayed in there ๐Ÿ˜œ

Before the night was over, IS was able to confess to SJ that she likes him. Then SJ responded with โ€œsaranghe Solโ€ โ™ฅ๏ธ and ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜š๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜™

Meanwhile, all these time, SJโ€™s dad has been stuck in the bathroom and ISโ€™s mom to the rescue. Hilarious! When she broke down the doors he couldnโ€™t LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚ sheโ€™s like a superhero ๐Ÿฆธ๐Ÿคฃ

TS says goodbye to his Sonny and they went back via train. Due to ISโ€™s vision in the cliff, she decided to fake returning to the future and she stayed behind. I feel so bad for SJ who tried not to cry ๐Ÿ˜ญ The villain is in Danpo-ri ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฌ

Preview: IS is not in Seoul ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Will they catch the villain this time?

  83. @Growing Beautifully, yes, we got a sort of cryptic explanation of the killer causing the car to crash at the beginning of episode 12. Ummm, okay. Houdini time.

I like your mention of symbolism in some of the scenes.

Sun Jae’s dad in the bathroom, surely he should use the water from the tank of the toilet rather than from the bowl first? There were towels hanging there, so he could have dipped a corner in just to wipe his eyes. The rest of the tank (not bowl) could have been used for drinking if necessary. Me being practical again. Message 1 might also be use your brains if you have to do something out of desperation, and pay attention to what your kids tell you ref. door lock. But also it brings him and IS’s mother closer.

If the damaged or ruined car is named Sunshine (which is similar to the word Sol from Latin), are we being told that IS will be in danger of drowning again or that dark days are imminent?

  84. @Fern

She can’t “see” the future. I’m almost certain of that. What she CAN see are her memories. So what we’re seeing is a 2023 Sol who is stuck in Past. Remember that Sol’s hard disk has info of original timeline T0 (she looses legs, SJ in depression) , T1 (same as T0), T2 ( she gets her mobility back, SJ successful, gravely injured or dies by stabbing). She has information of how she changed past AND how that affected the future.

Now, the 2023 FUTURE Sol is directly relying information to Time traveller Sol in 2009. The MEMORIES of 2023 Sol is the FUTURE of 2009 Sol. Much like the “dream” of second time travel return Sol in ep 7, the event ACTUALLY happens.

As we see from the police report in ep 9 after Sun Jae was stabbed, everything she “saw” in the “dream” has actually happened. It wasn’t a premonition. It was her MEMORY of what actually happened.

This is because like I said, the memories of 2023 Sol is the future of 2009 Sol. They are communicating in real time because they are the SAME person with the same hard disk.

It’s not a self fulfilling prophecy because it’s something that has actually happened and is stored in her memory.

  85. I should’ve tagged you too @GB ! Sol doesn’t have any ability to see the near future as I mentioned above. I think what she’s seeing is her memories!

  86. @GB and @Fern, this drama is alternatively called “Time walking on memory”

This is the reason the key song of Sol’s plays each time they kiss. They have 8 OSTs now but that’s the only thing they play when they kiss. It’s a sad rendition! It talks about how Sol “walked down the stairs of memory” to be “enveloped by his scent” and the present is the “only time” she has to spend with he who is her “everything”.

She cries when she tells Sun Jae that she loves him. That’s because of everything she “remembers”. She has already accessed her memories by the time that confession scene comes as we were shown in last sequence.

The sequence where he gifts her a pendant with “S” embossed is yet to be shown.

  87. I could not watch Episode 12 yesterday because Viki had a glitch. I wll try again today.

  88. Btw, a proof of how Sol remembers all timelines is the fact that she is the only one who knew what In Hyuk’s house looks like… “It should be a house with a red roof” she says ๐Ÿ˜‚

Why does she know? She must’ve visited it on a fan pilgrimage in T0 because she was obsessed with Eclipse of course ๐Ÿ˜œ

  89. @snow flower, same with me… but i was able to watch it via my laptop ๐Ÿ™‚ way later, after dinner ๐Ÿ˜ญ idk why – i was thinking maybe coz so many people are watching them??? ugh!

@Arihsi, i never noticed they play the same songs during their “kiss” scenes. good observation ๐Ÿค

@gb comedic moments with the dad stuck in the bathroom for a whole day and “sunny” going down in the ocean ๐Ÿ’” i was like NO to the toilet bowl water. omg. like just wipe your eyes dude! omg. i love the VW. so saaaaad. not comic. saaaaad.

  90. @HK_lady a fellow VW fan ! I love the cars… So sturdy and totally no nonsense. They’re also German. I adore their view in life towards work and work life balance. Deutsche Bahn is another story but ok ๐Ÿ˜œ

  91. Also @HK_lady, thank you for the recap. It came in handy when I had to figure out the distance between Danpo-ri / Sanpo-ri and Seoul. Sol did well.

This place is 284-300 kms away from Seoul. We know that SJ, if given enough time and space WILL intervene between Sol and the criminal.

However, this time he realises his terrible mistake (aka as @GB points out, to leave Sol alone) AFTER reaching Seoul when Sol doesn’t return home. No matter how much he runs, he can’t cover 300 kms that easily or that fast.

By indulging in so called “noble idiocy” but actually sticking to her mission, Sol has successfully put TIME and Distance between Sun Jae and harm’s way.

  92. Viki was OK today, so I watched Episode 12. I am starting to get anxiety now. I don’t want a bittersweet ending. The writer still has 4 episodes to make things right.

  93. @Arihsi – who would’ve thought – but IS is very determined this time – to put time and distance between SJ and harm’s way – right on – she has this one mission – 3rd time’s a charm – will she get hurt this time to protect SJ?? waaaaah. IDK why the serial killer is so relentless on IS. like move on with another victim dude. LOL. just coz she’s the victim that got away many times ๐Ÿ˜ข

i do like VW (bugs) – but i want to be an owner of a mini-cooper though. waaah

so 3 hrs away!!!! Sanpo-ri. that’s pretty far. Run Run our lovely couple!! gosh

re: recap – you guys are welcome. the least i can do ๐Ÿ’›

  94. Kalimera chingus!

Why the killer is so obssessed with Sol?

For starters, he didn’t do the deed. He also knows that she helps the Police to capture him, so in her 3rd Time Travel made the culprit go bollocks with her.

He wants to finish the job and he will target her. It’s more than fixantion now.

The thing is that Sol wanted to protect Sun Jae from the whole ordeal that’s why she remained herself in the village. In order to fight and most likely die alone.
As Sun Jae said though, it is HIS CHOICE to help her in every Timeline.

So, this time around the setting changed. The incident will happen in In Hyuk’s village.

I also think as a plot hole, the fact that we didn’t learn anything about what happened with the Police and the most cringey moment for me is:

The Police know that the culprit is targetting Sol, still they left her family unattended. The culprit learned (?!!!) about the place from Sol’s mom. Seriously, that is lazy writing for me here. Everyone knows that the killer is returning back to the place he commits a crime.

Still, most likely Sol will lose her mobility, there are rocks afterall in that part of the cliff. Sun Jae might have a minor injury as well, and the Killer? We shall see…

  95. I don’t know @cleo… Unless they mess it up really badly, my heart is warmed and full with this drama.

*Turns a blind eye to the holes. Hopes not to fall in one of them*

What’s more, I’m so happy for all the actors and the director in real life. Their perseverance and hard work is paying off after many, many years in the industry. I’m just happy being happy with the whole tide while it lasts โค๏ธ

*Smiles till cheeks hurt at the new BWS interview snippet where he says he feels as if he’s in a fairy tale*

  96. Kalimera @Arihsi,

I don’t think they will mess the show. The Directors are pretty good and they know they are doing.

The cast did a very good job as well, bringing to life these characters and it is okay for them to be celebrated for the fame and love they are getting.

  97. The sheer number of so called spoilers and theories around this drama… It’s simply hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚

The are so many “theories” floating around and none of them agree with each other. LoL LoL !

The only thing that is in favour of a “happy and reasonable” ending that pm3 mentions is the fact that TvN is planning a special live screening of the last episode that would be attended by the cast. Presumably this would require buying tickets ?

They definitely wouldn’t plan an event like that if they weren’t sure the ending would be well received.

  98. I would love to attend that! Wouldnโ€™t it be nice if we could have our own live watching. I never know what time the episodes are released on Viki though.

    I am encouraged by everyoneโ€™s optimism! ๐Ÿคž

I was pretty heartbroken by the final scene – to see our OTP apart and to see SJ cry ๐Ÿ˜ข
It did feel very much like a goodbye.
Our leads were in tears while filming too.

Grateful for the comedic moments. TS and his dainty white gloves!
Also very much enjoying the additions to the OST.

  99. Oohh @Hana there is a pop up store too ! May 23rd onwards till the final episode airs. It’ll have exclusive show related goodies, photographs etc. Ohhh to be in Seoul at the moment!

I also notice TvN’s absolutely obvious and funny changes in quality of episode stills that they release post airing. If you notice earlier, it’s usual couple pics, pics of major scenes etc which might interest the audience. Now, they’ve gone ahead and cut out all major scenes, hugs, intimate scenes, kisses, scenes where the audience might be interested from ep 10 onwards ๐Ÿ˜‚

What’s more… BWS has been cut out like an annoying friend or relations from most of the pics… LoL !

I think it’s because they want to publish a photo book, Blue Ray /DVD etc to buy…

Literally he’s been cut out… Also no stills of cute scenes between the couple, no pics of memorable moments… They’ve featured a bowl of strawberries BY ITSELF for heaven’s sake in the name of episode still… Hee hee hee…

TvN is too obvious ! ๐Ÿ˜„

  100. I finally watched episodes 11 and 12 last night, after getting back from a road trip with friends. I laughed a lot during Ep 11 but found myself feeling restless while watching much of Ep 12, particularly SJ’s dad getting locked in the bathroom and the antics on the beach. But…

The writer, Lee Si-eun, also wrote True Beauty, in which there were multiple references to other kdramas. So I’m wondering if some of what I saw as filler was actually playful references to other kdramas/movies? (Although it feels a little late in the game for this, unless there have been other meta-references in earlier episodes that I’ve missed).

โ€ข There was that reference to Romeo and Juliet in Ep 11 (where the families were pulling the lovers apart while the theme from the Zeffirelli movie played).

โ€ข Then while the four young people were at the beach and TS cried over his car, some music played that wasn’t part of the OST while an old man asked if they wanted their photographs. (The lyrics were translated as: “waves are crashing on the rocks, this place that was once empty, people from the world one by one…”). I didn’t recognize the song–it sounded old (as in not kpop). I couldn’t find the old man who asked if they wanted the photo in the special appearances cast list, so don’t know if it could be a drama associated with him.

Or–maybe none of this was on purpose and I’m just trying to read something into moments that didn’t really move the plot along.

  101. Some additional random thoughts on Ep 11 and 12:

–I’m hoping that SJ and Sol actually did have sex at the beach (while everyone else was octopus fishing), because it would get into that weird Mr. Queen territory where the person whose body is involved in the act has no say in it. Plus it would be terrible to leave a teenager possibly pregnant while her older adult self goes back to the future. (Or maybe all those condoms in Ep 11 foreshadowed how SJ might take care of it??)

–I don’t understand why scenes are grey then full color, e.g., when the killer is walking around the abandoned area. Were we seeing Sol’s original memories and then a moment from the new timeline? Is this use of grey filters then full color consistent, so that we know that it’s always Sol’s original memories? What do you all think?

–I don’t buy the idea that the killer is a time traveler. For one thing, there has been no real evidence of it so far and we only have four episodes to go. What I don’t understand is what happened in the accident. Was it really just a random traffic accident, and he somehow managed to not get (significantly) hurt while everyone else in the car was hurt? Or did he use the animal drugs to knock out each person in the car? (But how would he have injected it wearing handcuffs??)

What we still don’t know is why he is so hung up on Sol. We see him carrying her phone in the last scene in Ep 12. I don’t know how that ties into wanting to murder someone.

–I’ve read different theories about Sol’s grandmother, about why she ends up with a poor memory in the future. The simplest explanation for that could be that she sees what happens to Sol and the stress of it makes her lose her mind. I’m not sure that she is a shaman or has any special powers, though her taking the watch out of the box and wearing it seems to have helped start Sol’s time travels.

–Some people have said TS’s VW Beetle was a PPL. If so it’s the weirdest PPL ever–unless it was to make a point that the new Beetles, unlike the old ones, don’t float in the water!

–The only justification I can think of for that whole long section in Ep 12 of SJ’s father getting locked in the bathroom is to show that Sol’s mom is strong and is willing to help SJ’s family. She would be a good resource for Sol to use in her fight against the killer–it looks like she could fight him off. It makes no sense to me why Sol isn’t telling her mom about it so she could at least help her be on the lookout for the killer–in her shop(!), which is open to the public.

Hi @BethB, thanks for listing more of what has been bothering me.

Everyone โ€ฆ a word of warning, I guess. If you love this show and donโ€™t want to be affected by any negative comments, then please read no further./i> This is not meant to spoil anyoneโ€™s fun, but to mention stuff thatโ€™s bothering me about the show. Itโ€™s fine that many of us love the Show, regardless of what I think.

    SNARK?
Against the tide of accolades, kyaas, heart-wrenching and sweet sentiments, I am waiting (and challenging) the Show to show me proof, logic, clues, Easter eggs, a worthy explanation for the many unanswered questions. @BethB listed some of them above and I did too some comments ago.

Reviewing a Show means also being able to see its flaws. It is only a matter of whether the sweetness outweighs the sour, and at times, how much viewers want to ignore the sour in order to embrace the sweet.

Generally, Iโ€™ve been the kind of viewer who quite magnanimously accepts flaws for the sheer fun, entertainment or joy in watching a Show and with others who love it too. However I find, to my surprise (and chagrin?) that something has made me uncomfortable. Although originally all set to love this Show until the end, I find myself now wary.

Iโ€™m getting the feeling that Writer started off with a great idea and several lovely plot points but is not able to link them in an organic way. Iโ€™m finding the happenings to be forced/contrived in order to bring about an end, or to push the plot forward.

For eg. Writer wants to give us a sweet romance at the beach scene before all hell breaks loose, so In Hyuk has to run home and SJ, IS and TS need to make their way to Danpoori. This, so far is plausible but still a bit contrived. Writer-nim now has the problem of how to get Killer to Danpoori too. Enter Coincidence, once again. So Killer happens to be in the video rental shop with Mum who at that moment takes a call from IS and loudly says โ€˜Danpoori!โ€™. Killer exits right to pop up in Danpoori likely by Episode 13?

Until we get a proper explanation, as to why now โ€ฆ the sudden ability to see visions or memories or the future (in Ep 12 and not earlier) seems another contrivance slipped or rammed in to aid the plot. (I’ve heard of 1 possibly reasonable explanation, but I need to see more evidence so that it is not a wild guess.)

I question the reason for the long scenes of SJ’s father in distress, locked in the bathroom. They did not exactly make a comfortable watch although amusing at times.

If there is significance in Im Sol’s Granny’s character, this needs to be in greater focus now. I recall being forewarned in Goblin as to who or what a certain side character might be. We were given several scenes in episodes before the final few to figure it out. I do not like that Show is letting Viewers bark up the wrong tree(s) here and there up to this point.

I asked myself why my attitude towards this Show has changed. Perhaps the suspicion of lazy writing and product placement for the show itself. Perhaps because I do not like the suspicion that Iโ€™m being played. There are holes and contrivances that are becoming glaring, and Iโ€™m guessing that Viewers are supposed to just accept them. While the ideas might have been great and the acting and romance lovely, I do not wish Viewers to be merely on an emotional high and because of that, to be led to think that it was a great show. I get annoyed when I suspect that Viewers are not being respected. I hope in the last 4 episodes Show will prove me wrong.

  104. Done, @GB. I set it up for midnight (my time) so I just moved the auto-thread-opener earlier. ๐Ÿ™‚ — pm3

  105. @Beth B and @Growing Beautifully, thanks for putting some of my feelings into print. I will continue to watch, hoping that the writer and director resolve these issues and give us logic and backstories. Yes, wth were some of those ‘comedy’ scenes about and why so long?

Going to the beach to frolic is certainly a trope – why does the action have to take place there rather than back at home? It seems like so many shows are including a seaside fix for the viewers atm. Unless it’s an aqueous progression. Swimming pool to stream to river to ocean? There is no bigger body of water and no further time travels. But that’s another random guess and unsupported without some backstory or logic.

  106. @BethB, I hadn’t considered the consequences of sex during time travel. I get that Im Sol wanted to let Sun Jae know that she loved him in return before she leaves for the future leaving clueless 19YO IS. If OG Im Sol gets pregnant ‘unaccountably’ or if we suddenly see 2023 Im Sol with a pre-teen child I will be furious as it would be another incidence of her letting her emotions and hormones run ahead of her brain.

Here I was just thinking, bloomin’ shut the window curtains or at least turn the light off.

  107. I didn’t like the commedy scenes and skipped it. I don’t think they did anything that could result in a teenage child in 2023 either with only 4 ep left. Plus, that wouldn’t sit well with actors’ images in home country.

I still love the show and enjoy watching it.

What I’ve realised is that perfect policies, perfect governments, perfect people, perfect shows – just don’t exist. Constructive criticism is very important and that’s what keeps us progressing because of the very fact that utopia doesn’t exist – not in real life, not in dramas.

Given that, one needs to find what one can live with. I watch only one show at a time / once every two – three months so it becomes an escape I want to enjoy. And this show is serving that purpose.

My demon was that too – but I couldn’t watch it after a point. Same with QoT. But QoT was hugely popular. A certain age group went crazy with my demon too. It served their purpose in entertainment. The fact that they enjoyed these dramas (especially My Demon category) doesn’t prove anything about them personally because ultimately, this is rather benign entertainment and nothing beyond that.

If people can melt down nuclear reactors over “mistakes”, cost us thousands of lives over “miscalculation of impact”, what is in a show ?

Here, If the writer/director answers the questions, awesome. If they don’t that’s fine too. I hope they learn from this and provide better quality next time. Look at CEW in True Beauty vs Wonderful World… He had grown in acting skills and how.

LR is a first for the director, only the second for the writer, first for the ML and only the second for the FL. I hope they learn from everything they did wrong and do better next time. ๐Ÿ’– They gave me an escape I enjoyed for the 2 months they were on air and for me, that’s enough.

  108. I donโ€™t think our leads had sex. Their romance is too pure and innocent (or am I?!) ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I wondered about alternative scenarios the writer couldโ€™ve used to avoid the convenient coincidence of the killer listening in to ISโ€™ motherโ€™s phone call. The killer could call granny and ask for ISโ€™ whereabouts. He would have to impersonate someone, perhaps a friend!

I am happy to be deceived a little by a show if itโ€™s entertaining but I do feel shortchanged when the deception is as big as the one in Wonderful World.

  109. Ah. Correct @Hana. Wonderful World could be your My Demon. I use My Demon as a yardstick of how horrendous a drama is. MD was only about “VISU*LS”.

  110. @BethB this is the song played on the beach. Seagulls included!

    https://youtu.be/IEGKlQY2Mn8?si=vbuMnAVncWqkeCp5
    Trying out embedding the link:
    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEGKlQY2Mn8?si=KduBHDW8wNp_MBGg&w=560&h=315%5D

  111. Thanks for the info. I’m still wondering if it’s been used in another kdrama and that scene was a reference to it. The song itself is supposedly a tribute to victims of the Gwangju Uprising in the 1980s. So it’s odd that it’s used here for the “tragedy” of a car sinking into the ocean.

  112. Kalimera Ladies,

I read what you have written and I would like to say the following.

Lovely Runner as a script is not bad written. It is an honest idea of something we have seen before. Time travel going to the past trying to saving someone. I have seen other shows who are exaggerating in almost everything, yet everyone does watch them.

I don’t believe that Sun Jae and Sol had sex. So, I didn’t freak out or anything about it. They just did what all teens are doing when they are together. Especially since both of them are in board that Sol is not the 20 y.o. Sol, but the 32 years old one. Sun Jae couldn’t have hurt the oblivious Sol. He is not the type to do so.

As I have written in one of first threads and I am going to analyze here, I don’t find disturbing that Sol remembered what happened in the past.

As I have said before, if you think that Time is Linear, then you are questioning what actually happened.

If you think the concept of Time as something that happens simultaneously, then when the killer got away from the Police, future changed, hence Sol was able to access the new memories. If is taking the noble idiocy trope that is something the chakkanim decided for her.

The thing that for me was a plot hole, is how the killer was lurking in Sol’s neighbourhood and the Police didn’t have an undercover cop around there.

I am still enjoying the show and we are getting in the sad part of the drama. I can understand that you are frustrated, but things in LR are not that bad…๐Ÿ˜Š

I watched Ep 13. I need everyone to watch it before anyone comments!!!

  115. Unnie, I will watch it later on.

    No Spoilers until everyone does!

  116. Me too. No spoilers.

Don’t look at SNS pls. It’s all over the place.

How can we know everyone has watched @GB ? Do we keep a code ?

  117. Whoops! I forgot!

  118. @Arihsi,

We will write from now on until tomorrow if we have watched it, and we will comment after everyone has watched it.

What do you think? @GB Unnie

  119. Okie ! watched !! โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

  120. I am watching it too…!

  121. So I binge watched to Ep. 12.
I like the comedy for the show, and I like the characters. My gosh, Ryu Sun Jae is the perfect boyfriend! What a dreamboat!

Plotwise, I think ep. 12 is showing some weaknesses now. So SOL now have visions of the future out of the blue? Coincidences galore to get the Killer to come to the seaside. Sun Jae acting out of character letting Sol just get off the train alone when (in his view) she have amnesia. Doesn’t make sense. He has always been protective of her. He even make a vow to himself that he will risk his life for her, regardless. And now you expect viewers to believe he just let a vulnerable Sol just walk off the train by herself? Even if she doesn’t know Sun Jae, 19yr Sol certainly know Tae Sung and would be comfortable with him. Why wouldn’t Sun Jae have her sit with Tae Sung? Frankly, the train has many cars, so if Sol didn’t want to sit with any of the guys, she could just sit away from them next to someone else and go back to Seoul. There’s no good reason to get off the train.

Actually, why stay in the seaside at all? Wouldn’t it be better to lure the killer to the warehouse because that course of events is the known one? You have a better chance of changing the outcome since the killer’s actions would be known from the report. Plus, the police would definitely help since TS dad believing her about the killer. At the seaside, she is alone and lacking support. I don’t know… it feels like a script weakness.

For me, the time travel elements of the show are another weakness. I’m not a fan of time travel trope, and the time travel elements in this show have not changed my mind.

I agree with others that I don’t think Sol and Sun Jae had sex that night at the beach. 34yr Sol knows from before that 20Yr Sol always have memory loss of any time 34yr Sol is in the past, so she certainly wouldn’t do that to her. To not know how she lost her virginity. In real world, that kind of thing considered a form of sexual assault, to do things without the other person aware/knowledge. TBH, I didn’t even think of a pregnancy possibility. That would definitely make it seem more like a sexual assault for 20 yr Sol. To be pregnant with no memory of having sex with anyone. I think they just kissed and cuddled. However, show was a little ambiguous about what happened in the night. I don’t think they should have ended the scene with the 2 of them kissing and lying on top of each other. Probably better to show them ending the kiss and then falling asleep right after to make it clear nothing else happened.

  122. @Table122000. I understand all of your points and they make sense to me being a practical person if no genius.

    I’ve watched 13. This isn’t a spoiler.

I am confused due to the awareness of the FL as well as the timing of the final scene, which I thought took place much earlier in the year or even before the beginning of narrative or the time travels 1-3. I hope that makes sense. Looking forward to the discussions later tonight my time (UK) or tomorrow.

    ๐Ÿคฏ

  123. @Fern:
    I just watched Ep. 13
I agree the final scene was confusing. I look forward to the discussion on Ep. 13-14 Post, which is now available.

  124. Have not watched ep 13 yet.
My comments are for ep 11 and 12.
Still not happy with noble idiocy use at the last part of ep12 but rationally thinking itโ€™s still ep12 and the show still have a ways to go so maybe thatโ€™s why the writer is doing this. Personally I just cannot accept that IS does this again and again.
I think the lesson here is that the future can only change (for the better) if IS and SJ trust and help each other. SJ already knows she is from the future and has been very decisive about IS – she is his priority above all. He forego trip to US, business class and rehab cost a lot and he does not care! He will always choose IS – her safety and her happiness above himself or even his father. So Iโ€™m rolling my eyes on IS and the way she was written. A 30+ years old should have more sense than this.
