  1. Kalispera @Packmule3!

I do hope you are okay! ❤️🎈🌸Thank you for the thread.

I have watched Episode 13, but as we have said with @GB Unnie and @Arihsi, everyone needs to have watched the Episode to start commenting about it!

  2. I have finished Ep 13 but I’m not sure what happened! I’ll have to watch the ending again.

I thought I could finish my list of Timeline exits but now there may be another timeline?

  3. OK I watched the last few minutes again. Assuming the Viki translators translated it correctly, Sol does not say that she lost “someone” precious to her but “something,” which here means knowing and loving SJ. It was a bit of a fake-out: for example, she sees the poster that originally featured SJ and seems wistful about it, making the viewer think that SJ is dead.

In the few brief moments they show in the (4th?!!) altered timeline I thought she had altered reality this time since she is wearing a different school uniform. But, perhaps to ensure that she didn’t run into SJ, she might have asked to transfer to a different high school so they would never ride the bus together again.

It seems like her grandmother in the future isn’t mentally out of it, which would confirm my earlier theory that she went mad after seeing her granddaughter suffer (no suffering, no mental breakdown).

So–if she didn’t know SJ did she never encounter the taxi driver (assuming the taxi driver first saw her at the reservoir and she doesn’t end up there)? I assume they will show us more snippets from the new past in the next episode so we can piece it together better–and we will also see if SJ is an actor now instead of a singer/idol.

  4. Ep. 13 was very confusing for me. What the heck happened? If the watch only had 3 tries and all 3 were used up in the college time, how did Sol time travel 2 more times?

Sol only touch Sun Jae watch the one time at the end, so how did she return to the present day after going back the the first meeting if there was no magic watch?

Also, previously for the time travel, Sol did not have any control over where and when she landed in the time travel. Are they saying she was able to control the time travel now or was everything still random?

Would not meeting Sun Jae that rainy day with yellow umbrella really change anything? They were still neighbors and he still lived across the street. They 2 of them still went to high school that were next to each other. Sun Jae could have seen Sol running on another day and fallen in love on that day. Sol never knew about the first time Sun Jae saw her. She wouldn’t know if it happened again later. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Do Tae Sung and Sol know each other and are friends in the new 2023 timeline? Or did they meet for the first time at the police station in ep. 13?

Anyway, so Sun Jae is alive because he never rescued Sol from the killer, right? So the killer didn’t target him.

Are they saying Sol never met the killer either?
    It is all very confusing.

I hope the time travel element is finished now and the last 3 episodes will just be in the present time.

  5. They tell a story of how fiercely she loves him and I really like it. She’s very quiet and subdued about it too.

Usually it’s the ML who’s quiet but here Sun Jae gets all the grand declarations.

Sol needs to only call his name and no matter the space and time… it’s as if a thousand bells start chiming announcing her deep, deep love for him.

Clearly, it’s working very well given the actor BWS has acquired the “name” and gets cheered regularly by that name at real life award function red carpets and interviews. The actress KHY is to be applauded for it given the emotions she’s put consistently in just saying out loud, a name.

  6. Well… she is wearing a different school uniform, so I’m not sure she is still going to the same school.

I don’t think that she was there just for that first meet-up. I imagine they will show us more scenes tomorrow from this “new” past, where we will see her making an effort to avoid him in all of the previous/original past circumstances. (And she has three attempts this time). But what I don’t understand, as you mentioned, is how she could control how far back in time that she went. The first time she didn’t go back as far as the first meet-up so how did she go further back this time?

The watch seems to be empowered by the death of SJ! This time Sol’s grandma didn’t touch it, so there goes my theory that she possibly has some kind of power to initiate it. I thought Sol needed to WEAR the watch for it to work for her though!

  7. Annyeong,

Thanks for the gifs @pm3 ♥️

    Flashback-
IS at the edge of the cliff. She has a vision and villain KYS is there. SJ is running towards her. (Witness statement by SJ is changing the future- may 10 2009, 12-1am).

    May 6- present
In the train, IS closes her eyes and pretends to be the young IS leaving SJ totally heartbroken 💔 just in time before the train departed. IS was determined to change her own fate 😳

    Flashback-
IS gifts his brother the winning lottery number – a favor also to her Bff
Her birthday-amusement park date. They made a future date to meet there again.
Their photo shoot is cute 📸
Funny when SJ ate half of her corn dog 😱
At the haunted house, SJ was so brave in the beginning – he has IS hanging on to him. But he was totally a scaredy cat 🙀 and hanging on to IS later on 🤣
I like his bday cake surprise and necklace gift during the Ferris wheel ride. He even sang to her 🎶 funny how the guy thought they were kissing and had them go around again 🤪 I liked his Thank you speech… for being born etc 💓 but she turned it around and that it should be her thanking him- that he’s the one who saved her and made her want to live again ♥️ and the kiss 💋 coz he’s a petty guy 😍

    Present-
SJ runs to the train exit??
IS got a call from her mom all freaked out. The DET told her about her kidnapping last year. IS lied that she’s with SJ. And that lie was revealed when SJ showed up at her house. SJ also realized IS still had her Time travel watch on when she deboarded the train. 😤

The detectives found out the villain has left Seoul. Then IS called asking for his help- to save her.
SJ checks the villains hideout. SJ realizes that the future has changed due to IS’s behavior. He got confirmation from IH that IS is still in Sanpo-ri.

    May 7, 2am
IS is lagging around town basing her timeline by her last vision. She turned her phone on and she has missed calls and texts from her mom and SJ. She got a call from the detectives by 4:20am. They’re watching her. SJ took the taxi back to Sanpo-ri.

5am. She starts walking and the detectives follow.
SJ is by the lighthouse. He calls the police.
By the brick wall, IS waits for the villain. She got a tap on her shoulder and she screamed for the detectives only to find they don’t have the villain. 😤
SJ runs towards IS and comes across the villain. 😳. He recognizes him. The villain runs away and SJ goes after him 😩
IS realizes what’s happening and runs towards the cliff. The villain has stabbed SJ. The detectives grab the villain. SJ falls to the ocean below 😱 omg

IS cries for SJ as he disappears under the waves 🌊💔

    Flashback- May 6
In bed, SJ kept his eyes closed – coz IS wishes tomorrow wouldn’t come 🥰- to stay in 🎶yesterday💔 IS and SJ cuddled up with eyes closed-wishing for this moment to last forever 😔

    2023~ Dec 7
IS and bff works together (the whole fam lives in one house).
IS ends up in the police station because she tried to stop an actor from leaving the set. TS is in one of the holding cells 😳 he’s a cop now 😎 and calls her pretty noona. she ends up writing a letter of apology 😫 per her CEO. TS helps her and they have dinner. IS gets drunk and got a piggyback ride with TS. She falls asleep. He let her off at a bench. It started snowing. IS wakes up and memories of SJ floods her mind. She cries. TS comforts her. She says “i miss Sun Jae” 💔

    At Bon Cinema.
Her CEO feels bad … and told her they will make her script into a movie. 🎥 yay!! But she forgot the resignation letter she wrote while in a drunken stupor. It’s not a TY letter. Ooosie 🤪
IS goes to the event and tries to retrieve the red envelope.
She goes up the stairs and gets knocked over by SJ. But SJ catches her.

    Flashback-
SJ in the ocean – her watch turns into a Time Machine. Gives him 3 tries- just like IS 😱
They carried his body in a gurney and IS noticed his watch turn to a Time Machine. She runs to him and wishes they’ve never met. And she turns the TM watch on… bringing them to their first meet up – his inspiration for the song 🎵. She avoided him. 💔

    Preview-
SJ stars in her movie 😳
I am hoping he retained the memories as well 🥹

  8. @BethB I agree that we need new past information.

An idea is that because she wasn’t the one wearing the watch, SJ gets transported WITH her unbeknownst to Sol. He carries with him a hard disk with all relevant and necessary information. He never approaches Sol because he sees that his declaration of “it’s okay if I die for you.” doesn’t work at all for Sol.

If you look at their house numbers, Sol lives in 34-1 and SJ lives in 35-1. He’s one year delayed in returning to present when he travels with her. He’s also chasing a bus number 34 while running parallel to her which is their age at present.

Current SJ who meets Sol at the award function is the altered timeline SJ who doesn’t know Sol much like the OG 19 YO Sol. He’ll “merge” with time traveller SJ on January 01. If correct, this would mean a grand performance of Sonaki (which was never written in current timeline) to prove who he is and would be 💯 lovely if you ask me.

  9. What made me LoL was Sol’s project idea “Run”. It tells a story of Lovely Runner 😂 Oooohh the script is so bad it’s neither romance nor thriller, no one will watch it if there is no big star in it, it’s too bland and has no sponsors…. Ha ha ha.

I think the script will detail Sol’s own story and her own jumps, her own love. Given how they are “fated”, even current timeline SJ will start feeling that she’s special to him if he reads it. He’s lived all those experiences after all !

  10. @pm3 thank you for the thread and more so for the gif set ! They look so good in monochrome!

  11. Howdy!

Who cares if they did the deed or not? They are adults. LOL!

Kumawo for the lovely gifs Queen! My eyes are happy. 🙂

I haven’t finished the current episode but come on IS! Why couldn’t you use your boyfriend’s 1.89m height to your advantage? Instead of trying to save him by yourself.

Anyway, I’ll be back later. 🙂

  12. @agdr03 helllllllooooo I was quite satisfied. As in she didn’t try to save him by herself. She was under police protection! She was surrounded by able officers. Her mom knew what was happening. She removed SJ from the picture.

They also answered @cleo’s concern that police had not informed the mom.

One may argue that Sol should have “discussed” the plan with SJ but even then, SJ would have never left her alone considering his zeal to die for her.

If we say Sol makes bad decisions, WHO in their right minds follows a criminal ALONE, pray tell ? Sun Jae is equally to be blamed for making rash decisions. He didn’t save Sol in last time slip. Sol didn’t NEED saving in the last timeslip.

The way I look at it, since time T0 something has triggered cabbie’s vendetta against SJ. Sol is somewhat a red herring. Even in timeline T2, she asks for protection for SJ. In T3 as well, Sun Jae’s (bad) decisions lead to his demise. He’s the one needing saving.

  13. Kalimera Ladies,

Now that the majority of us have watched the Episode, let me write this down…

We are officially in a Time Loop.

The watch gave Sol three chances to go back to save Sun Jae. In the original Timeline, she didn’t remember him saving her and she was his fan. Sun Jae also had guilt from the fact that he let her sleep on that bus that led to the taxi driver / serial killer to target her and lose her mobility. All the above resulted to his depression.

With Sol returning back in time, for the second time, she starts to fall in love with Sun Jae. In this Second Timeline SJ still saved her in the abandoned building, but the Young Sol avoided him. Because of what Sol had told him in the Hospital, SunJae still loved her, but he didn’t have depression.

In Sol’s second attempt, the killer targeted Sun Jae after his intervention in 2009. So, when the killer got released from prison, he went and stabbed SJ in his Hotel Room.

Then, Sol decided to go back time for her third and last Time Travel, and this time around, she landed to their college years. After their fateful encounters, they started dating, but Sol was full of guilt for what happened to Sun Jae.

For her she was living everything in a time frame that many incidents happened every single day for a short time.

So, when the future changed and the killer was not in Seoul, but came to In Hyun’s sea village. Sol planned and deceived Sun Jae to stay away from her, but the thing is the fatal encounter happened with Sun Jae and the serial killer resulting in his death.

In every Timeline, Sun Jae’s choice was to save Sol.

Are they fated? Yes, they are.

So when Sun Jae’s clock worked like a time machine again, she took the chance to go back to time and change their encounter from happening, to not happening at all!

But people who are meant to meet are going to meet and hence the last entrance of the now actor Ryu Sun Jae…

The killer is around of course and he will target her / him because, those are links that cannot break that easily.

So, this time around Sol mirroring Sun Jae’s first unrequited love, she is loving and remembering him by herself.

The plot twist would be, Sun Jae to unlock the memories of every Timeline they had together, at some point, because the clock was on his wrist and not Sol’s.

    I am counting on it… 😎

P.S. @Fern, in this new timeline where Sun Jae didn’t met and fall in love with Sol, time has passed that’s why we are *NOW* in December 2023…

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Cleo, @Arihsi and Everyone, I take it that everyone here has watched and is happy to comment, so comment away!!! I’m having an especially busy day, or I’d have dropped in earlier.

Truth to tell, I had no time late last night to do a proper slow watch, so I did a skip watch…. but I gather (and correct me, do!) that Ep 13 was mostly filler with maybe 3 or so important scenes, so I’m guessing that I’ve got the gist of the Episode and of course I watched the ending.

My comment from before that it feels that Writer-nim has some good ideas but has difficulty in their execution still stands.

I read and understand the confusion of our fellow viewers. We have gone along with the flow while lacking the information to make it more understandable from early on. Hence, we have been depending on our own ideas as to the logic of the time jumps. Of course, we understand that we have been made to think that 3 chances are all IS gets, so that when we get the solution of a reset at Ep 13 end, we are supposed to sigh with relief. But though we may do so, it is still with doubt and confusion which spoils the relief.

Even though we knew that the death of SJ activated the watch in the original timeline, we do not know why that should be the case. Because of this, when the reset happens, now with SJ’s duplicate watch, it feels like Writer-nim is just taking a rabbit out of the hat to satisfy the viewers. It shouldn’t, but it does feel like a deus ex machina.

One note on a different reason for relief – I’m relieved that people really do die when stabbed and have fallen into water from a height in this show (LOL) … this is better than ‘Dr Stranger’ where this happened (more than once?) and no one died! (My eyes rolled away LOL)

I’ll do a proper rewatch when I can. Read ya all later!

  15. My log in for notifications. Thank you, @packmule3

  16. My confusion last night was to do with the revised yellow umbrella scene, which I though had taken place a while before the first time travel because Sun Jae already had that crush when Im Sol plastered herself onto him at the swimming event. So perhaps ‘his’ watch takes her back to Sun Jae’s first moments of recognition, not quite as randomly as Im Sol’s? How many tries are on Sun Jae’s version of the watch? Arrrgh. I can’t do this too many more times.

Regarding the Sun Jae as very sublimely dressed actor — so the latest time travel we saw when he died from the cliff-top stabbing — that didn’t happen because Im Sol immediately reset the watch and ended up time travelling earlier than previously and could opt out of meeting him with the yellow umbrella?

Okay, Grandmother is cognizant now, but I will miss her making red cheek circles. Maybe she can get tipsy and do it again.

I have the impression that Tae Sung and Im Sol are drinking acquaintances because he said something about ‘Don’t get drunk again.’ If it turns out that IS went to a different school, I wonder how they got to know each other.

Apologies if I am repeating anything others have said. Just trying to make it clearer in my own mind. I still want background about why the watch has powers and why the shaman/killer is after IS.

  17. Kalimera @Fern,

Let me help you a bit.

Sun Jae’s watch has 3 time travels.

Sol had bought Sun Jae’s watch and time traveled 3 times.

Sun Jae’s watch that he had on his wrist, after his death in Sol’s 3rd Time Travel, worked on its own and opened another 3 time travel.

So, when Sol made her Fourth Time Travel, she went back in 2008, BEFORE their encounter with the yellow umbrella that made Sun Jae fall in love with her in the Original Timeline and she changed that encounter.

Sol stayed behind, when she saw Sun Jae holding her package, so in this Second (2nd) Round of their Time Loop:

Sun Jae didn’t meet Sol at all. So, he didn’t fall in love, Sol didn’t encounter the serial killer. Sun Jae didn’t try to save her. Sol didn’t try to save him. And everything was erased. They continue their lives without meeting each other.

    BUT

Sol had her memories and she loved him without him remembering her.

Sol thought that not meeting each other was the best solution to their Time Loop.

Until the Universe, made them meet again as 34 years olds.

Today in Episode 14, we are going to see what happens in this Second Round Time Loop in the new and first establish Timeline. (We know that the clock has another two time travels stored.)

    I do hope that helped!

  18. @Fern,

    To continue:

Since we didn’t know for sure that we were in a Time Loop, although we have discussed this with @GB Unnie and @Arihsi.

Every Time Loop has Three Time Travels.

Sol has completed the first Time Loop with her Three Time Travels. In all of them, Sun Jae dies, only in her second time travel we don’t know if he survived from the stabbing.

Now, we are in the Second Time Loop, with another 3 Time Travels.

In her first Time Travel of the Secont Time Loop or in her Fourth Time Travel since the Original Timeline,

Sol erased their encounter altogether, for Sun Jae to live, by not meeting her at all.

I am enthusiastic about this plot twist. I understand is bizarre, but it is a time loop.

    I do hope that helped!

  19. Oh, @Cleopatra, thank you for confirming. Personally, I really don’t want two further time travels and all of the angst for naught b/c he dies (or nearly) every time. 😬 I’m a bit fed up. (It’s just me.) I continue to think that all efforts will only help a bit and it’s in 2023/24 time that she must save him.

I also wondered if he really did die in the T2 attack, but it doesn’t matter if it has all changed anyway.

  20. You are welcome @Fern! I totally understand though. SciFi and Fantasy are my genres, so I am really happy.

The thing is that Sol hasn’t realized in order to break their Fate, she needs to let Sun Jae helped her too. They have to be in cooperation in order to surpass this one.

So far, Sol didn’t say anything because she couldn’t, time freezed every time she tried to reveal anything to anyone, but in the 3rd Time Travel of the First Time Loop, things ended that bad because Sol didn’t want to share with Sun Jae anything. So, Sun Jae met accidentally the killer on the street and they fought without her!

It is Sun Jae’s decision. It was always Sun Jae’s decision to save her! It has to do with his free of will and Sol seems to forget that. I do hope this time around, she will learn her mistake and will act more wisely.

  21. Correction:

*To let Sun Jae help her too. *

  22. @cleo and @Fern as well,

You might be interested to know the concept of “Ouroboros”. @cleo may already know.

“Ouroboros” means a snake eating its tail. Basically going in circles. There is an X outcome that “fate”/”universe” wants in the world of this story. Each time Sun Jae dies, this very “fate” is interrupted given the X outcome wanted by time/universe/fate is Sun Jae and Sol together. Thus, Sol is given a chance to time travel to change the causative event.

In previous 3x it was her accident/abduction. This time around, it is their meeting itself.

Sol fails 3x because she’s missing a crucial detail that is not known to us as an audience either as yet. So she decides to erase everything. She’s got the causality wrong peoples. She thinks SHE is the reason Sun Jae dies. But as third timeline proves, the cabbie will kill him even without her in the mix.

@cleo thank you for explaining the loop. In order to break the “Ouroboros”, Sol must find out WHY she’s stuck and break the curse. We don’t know if she has as of ep 13. The cabbie is free. He can and will come after SJ.

PS – I can’t watch Sun Jae die one more time. 3rd time around was far from “the charm” we had hoped and was the most gruesome death of the three. He is stabbed AND falls in water AND from a great height.

  23. Hey @Arihsi,

    I was waiting for you…Haha!

Of course I know the concept of “Ouroboros” and I also have an abstract ring like this. “Ouroboros” is also the emblem of the Clairmont family in “Discovery of Witches” Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

Well, when I saw the scene with the second Loop, I realized that we were right all along!

Sol needs to cooperate with Sun Jae this time around. They will find the answer when they are both in this together.

I don’t think @Arihsi, that Sol has realized what is actually happening.

So far, Sol is blaming herself mirroring Sun Jae’s self blaming, self guilt in the First Loop’s Original Timeline. So, both of them are suffering mirroring their lives in the First and Second Time Loop.

If you can see, the same things happens to them, but in reverse order.

I am waiting for the moment, when Sun Jae will realize that they are indeed in a Time Loop. Because that is the right thing to do.

Sun Jae to have access to all the Time Loops and the Time Travels in every Loop, himself.

  24. Correction:

Sun Jae to have access to all the Time Loops and the Time Travels MEMORIES in every Loop, himself.

  25. Like @cleo suggests, maybe the missing details is that she needs to work with him ? Many of us have believed so since some time now.

PPS – Please Sun Jae -ya, I don’t care if you don’t remember Sol. Do NOT die again in ep 14. 3x is enough, really.

  26. Awww @cleo… That warmed my heart. Thank you for waiting! It’s so fun to discuss ❤️

  27. @Arihsi <3

The thing is that this time around Sun Jae might not remember, but his soul does.

So, Sun Jae will be drawn to her even without remembering himself, until he does.

That is the highlight I am waiting for! *winks*

  28. @Cleo,

I agree that now a 2nd Time Loop has begun, with 3 time travels again. I hope that the show does not become like the Terminator franchise, where time travel always fails to prevent the Skynet attack.
I was happy to see TS in the new timeline.

  29. @Fern:
I believe the school uniform of Sol in Ep. 13 and the uniform in Ep. 2 are the same. I do not think Sol changed schools. I also still do not understand how Sol arrived at the exact moment of the first meeting as she had no control over the magic watch previously. This fact was used for comedy during her 3rd time travel when she “landed” ( or entered 20 yr Sol’s body) on top of the statue in the college time. She was just lucky, I guess.

I’m also unclear on how she returned to the present day without the magic watch. The wording of both the VIU and Viki translations is (perhaps deliberately) ambiguous.
VIU subs say “Several seasons have passed since I came back. And it’s winter again.”
VIKI subs say ” I came back to the time I was living in, several seasons passed, and winter came again.”

It makes it sound like Sol time travelled once more, but how did that happen without the magic watch since the magic watch stayed on SJ wrist?

I have seen speculation that she did not time travel again and stayed in the past permanently, and therefore has been pining for Sun Jae for the past 14-15 years, mirroring Sun Jae’s pining for Sol in the original timeline. The vague wording would possibly support this (or not). In which case, I guess she would be 48 yr Sol in a 34 yr Sol body.

Perhaps they will provide more information in Ep. 14 about how Sol got from the First meeting 2008 time to the present day.

I don’t think Sun Jae travelled back in time with Sol since he was dead when she pressed the button on the magic watch.

I agree that Sun Jae is fated to love Sol. So whatever the time, he will always fall in love with her after meeting her. Hence he will fall in love this time as well.

I guess the question will be how to prevent his death at the hands of the killer. The preview showed the killer is back. There was a spoiler about the killer earlier in the character bios from the TVN website. It didn’t make sense to me before, but it might make sense now. We shall see.

Sol was able to save her mother from being burned, so hopefully that proves she can change Sun Jae’s fate. Hopefully now it will be as @Cleopatra says and Sol will be able to tell Sun Jae about the dangers and they can work together with now-police officer Tae Sung to permanently get rid of this killer and have a Happy Ending.

  30. Oops! I’m sorry @Fern. I meant my comment on the school uniforms for @BethB.

  31. Oops! Sorry @Fern. My comment on the school uniforms was for @BethB.

  32. @Table122000 – yes you’re right about the uniform! I should have checked Episode 2, when we see the first meeting through SJ’s eyes (54:59 minutes in). I think it’s the only time she’s wearing that plaid school uniform–?

I haven’t watched Ep 14 yet, but my take on the additional time travel after mulling it over last night is this:

Sol was already in the midst of time traveling in 2009 when she activated SJ’s watch, so if she went back to the past, she could go back even further than she had in previous travels. Since she hasn’t used the watch on her wrist to return to the present time, she has one chance to get back from the new past-past (i.e., time travel #4). I had thought that she had three new chances to go back, but given that she isn’t wearing the newly-active watch, she probably has to return to the present day ASAP with the watch on her wrist. So maybe all she accomplished in that 4th time travel was simply avoiding that first meet-up after all.

  33. @BethB: I thought the magic watch on Sol’s wrist was dead, and that’s why she used SJ watch to time travel. I don’t remember if she had a chance left on the magic watch on her wrist. I can’t remember if Sol ever spontaneously returned to the present day without touching the magic watch. Maybe she did. Oh, well. We just have to accept what the writer gives us and not try to make it make sense, I think. It’s so confusing.

  34. I admit that I thoroughly enjoyed Episode 14, despite the initial confusion at the end of Episode 13.

  35. Kalispera Ladies,

I have also watched Episode 14 and I am happy that we get to see Sun Jae-ah remembering little by little what has happened in the First Time Loop.

I am pretty excited that the chakkanim chose this path!
I believe that this was the right choice since the Second Time Loop has started!

Also, I am leaving this here, for now…:

If Sun Jae has an accident this time around, I do hope that Sol will finally realize that HER meeting Sun Jae was never the problem in the first place.

The problem is: that Sol is not explaining fully what is happening with the killer with Sun Jae, in order for them to find a way out.

Sun Jae pretty much told her that in her face, when they were in the Ferry Wheel.

    More tomorrow…

P.S. Halmeoni is the Deity we are looking for… *winks*

  36. @Cleopatra, we do indeed have a ‘Heavenly Granny’ as Viki translates it. A bit like the deity in Goblin, perhaps? It makes me happy because she gives us hope. But I was laughing when Granny was drunk and thought Sun Jae was her husband whom she married at 18.

I am confused how Im Geum could have had the lottery numbers from Time Travel number 3 if that was all erased by time travel number 4. Maybe Sol told him again — or they came to him in a dream. 😴

  37. Annyeong,

    ‼️ Spoiler alert ‼️

    EP 14 ~ recap

IS turns on SJ’s TM watch on and we’re on another time loop?? Her 4th TT??

2008 – the day SJ meets her for the first time- but not this time. IS stayed back and cried away in the rain while SJ delivered the package 📦 and went home.
Then Her family moved away and all the memories of the first time loop are only hers now. *evidently, she stayed away from him this whole time because SJ already had his shoulder injury upon her fam’s departure May 2009** all the memorabilia of their time together disappeared

    2023-
At the film festival event, SJ sees IS go under the table and out like a trouble maker.
ISS goes up the stairs not watching where she’s going and jumps into SJ. He catches her fall. His first impression: IS is a thief. 😳 his line: why are you crying? I didn’t make you cry? Did I? -Gets repeated in a Different scene. He was able to call the cops when IS ran away. I think she picked the wrong red envelope 🙀

So this whole time, IS continued to avoid SJ. While in the car, she noticed SJ’s stalker.

Apparently, the envelope she took was SJ’s best picture award winner 😱 omg. Causing SJ to have a bad night – the media’s having a ball at his expense 😤

At Bon cinema- SJ’s name came up as replacement actor. Would he say yes?
While HJ was on the phone, she accidentally sent IS’s script “time walking on memory” to SJ.

In SJ’s apt, even the on the title didn’t seem familiar to him- he reads the script and he is enthralled and moved to tears, he keeps on reading -their love story – like he’s reliving their past life. Omg 😳💔🥹 … maybe we should have never met from the start. As she realizes that meeting her is what leads to his death, she is determined to never cross paths with him by erasing herself from his life. having lost all memories of her, he lives his life in this world. as she watches his life from afar, she thinks… this is Wright,. We should have never met from the start. I saw that only exist in her memories… “rain shower” softly plays.
As SJ wipes his tears 😭 his manager comes in to tell him about the mistake but SJ can’t stop the tears from falling.

At the pitch meeting- when SJ saw that it was IS, he made up his mind to turn the role down. But before he could, IS rejected him and advised him to never work with her in the future. Ooooh Daebak!

Outside Bon cinema, after work-SJ was waiting for IS. She tried walking away until he starts reading her resignation letter 🤣😂😅

    At the bar-
SJ apologized for calling her a their and she did too for the incident she caused him.
SJ wanted reasons why he’s not qualified and who is she thinking is perfect for the role? An older man? LOL. CGI? 😂 the heavens are against it! Says The heavenly granny!! 🤣 her natal chart says No to men born in the year of the horse!! Are we getting married?? Compatibility is important to this business 🤪 do you believe in fate?

On the bus- she breaks down in tears.

SJ woke up from a dream where he dove to save someone (memory of saving IS under the bridge). From BIH he find that Sung Jae Kyung is also born in the year of the horse 🙀😱
SJ calls IS and she hangs up on him. His manager calls- they offer to invest, he offers to do it for free- still IS turns him down 😳😤

    At home – grandma disappears.

The stalker bumps into the villain? With a jingling key chain??? What??!!

The grandma ends up at SJ’s dad’s BBQ restaurant. They recognize each other and they start talking. When SJ shows up, she mistook him for her husband 😂😅🤣🤣. Grandma drops a pic of her and IS. The dad picked it up and handed it over to SJ.

    At the police station-
They saw cctv footage of grandma taking the bus. Then IS got a call from her mom that grandma has been found. TS takes IS home. TS tells her she’s a GF. IS says she’s a friend not a GF 😃

SJ was behind them. She told him TS is not her BF.
SJ was annoying her that she totally misunderstood when he opened his car door- her grandma is the passenger 😳 she was not expecting that!

Her mom told her to treat her to some tea. When some girls mistook him for an ahjussi, that made IS laugh and warmed his heart. Even when he gave him a romantic stare.
Back at the apt parking lot, he told her they used to be neighbors. They must have seen each other during that time. IS denied it. But SJ believes “it might be fate at this rate.” And when he saw her walk to her apt, it gave him a dejavu pang in his heart feeling.

At the apt- IS told her grandma not to do it again. But her grandma thinks she did a good job coz she knows she really misses SJ. 😳🙀🥹 she knows!!!

    At the police station-
The stalker got away from the villain. TS is taking the girl’s testimony.

Did IG really buy the winning lottery ticket? HJ took the receipt even tho she was clueless about it.

    At Bon Cinema-
CeO told IS that SJ got the role and she can’t do anything about it. She lets go of the project and She hands her resignation. She blames HJ for the mistake 😤
HJ checks the lottery ticket and fainted when she saw what it was 😱

IS went to the amusement park -memories of their date floods when she saw the bench with the hearts 💓 display. She didn’t realize so much time has passed. She gets ready to leave when she saw the ferris.

SJ is in the area for a commercial that got cancelled. Then she saw IS…

At the police station- the got the sketch of the villain.

As IS enters the Ferris wheel cab, SJ follows after her and entered the cab like she’s her company. He tells her again that The heavenly granny is a hack- and that the heavens are setting them up.
He asked her “do you hate me that much?”
He thinks the movie ending is sad. But not for IS. Even though she saved his life – she lost her love. Is she happy?
He tells her reading her pitch changed him- making him emotional, giving him dreams and dejavu’s- like this place and this can seems familiar. That’s why he’s drawn to this project. Even if you die? SJ replied “if I want to be near you, do I need to be ready to die?”
Then the Ferris wheel made a sudden jerk and they both stood up and SJ is wearing the necklace he gave her * on their third timeline.
Then the Ferris wheel jerked again- and they fell to the seat with SJ holding her firmly and said “maybe we might die together right here” 😅💔😂😭😩 LOL
Her Inner voice: at that moment, I thought our fates are like this very swale, going round and round.
    Outside, it’s snowing 🌨️

Preview- did IS end up in SJ’s apt? Is SJ gonna end up writing the song 🎶 theme song for the film? Looks like we’re gonna have a death defying scene 🎬

  38. @HK_Lady, thank you for the recap. I could re-live each viewing moment you describe.

You know the minor scene when HJ was mad at Geum? Their little daughter had heart braids in her hair thanks to Dad, but Mom wasn’t impressed by the hearts or hairdressing skills, except to say she was pretty. Little daughter told her dad that he was invisible to HJ. I thought that was funny.

  39. Kalimera @Fern,

As we have seen so far:
Things that are supposed to happen, will happen no matter what. It doens’t matter who will be the recipient. Someone will.

Im Geum was given the lottery numbers in the First Time Loop in Sol’s 3rd Time Travel. Those numbers were imprinted in his soul. So, when the right time came in this Timeline (4th altogether or 2nd Time Loop – 1rd Time Travel), he won the lottery. I bet that Im Geum was missing that day the teacher was trying to reach him, because he went to play that lotto.

Well, we have discussed with @Arihsi and @GB Unnie, that Halmeoni plays an important role. I was sure about it, because she always had cryptic messages for Sol in every timeline. She is also sos in tune with her granddaughter.
She is also the one who favorites Sun Jae in every Timeline.

So, Halmeoni went to that BBQ restaurant in order to bring Sun Jae to Sol, because she missed him. Simple as that!

So, for me it is a yes, Halmoeni is significant and maybe the “Heavenly Granny” we are looking for!

  40. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Many thanks @HK_Lady. I’ll use your recaps to shorten my search for info.

@Cleo, I agree that Halmeoni/Grandma is heavenly granny. She played the role in accidentally telling Killer where they lived in one timeline. She also ‘remembers’ things that only IS remembered/knew from her other timelines. Now she plays the part of ‘cupid’ to bring SJ and IS into each other’s orbit and show SJ where IS lives.

While I like that granny gives us heavenly vibes, I wish Show would do more with her character. Give her more backstory, a tiny arc maybe. One comment from someone says: “Yes if the grandmother is key please give us part of that storyline, writernim. I think it is such a great idea to link what we think of as her dementia to the time travel logic. For me, It will be a lost gem if they do not make use of This idea they have been hinting at.” – I agree. There have been teasing hints of more with Grandma’s character that could be developed and milked… perhaps to be included in the time jump logic.

Since Grandma seems to have some ‘supernatural’ memory of IS missing SJ, then was the fact that Grandma appropriated SJ’s watch at all part of the supernatural time travel? Show teases but gives nothing else.

  41. @GB Unnie,

Kalimera! I think that the writernim is keeping that ace in her sleeve yet.

Like in Goblin, Halmeoni / Heavenly Granny will reveal herself in due time. I don’t think this is bad, we shall see when this will be unveiled for the audience.

I think you may be right in your hypothesis. Halmeoni appropriated SJ’s watch in order, Sol and Sun Jae to change their ill fated connection with the killer.

So far, only Sol remembers. Halmeoni seems to be in dementia but still remembers important facts about Sol and Sun Jae.

As for Sun Jae unlocking his memories of the First Time Loop is very significant for me, as I have written last night.

We have both watched “Reset” and you do remember that when both of them started to work together, they made it out of the Loop. So, I am waiting for something like this to happen here.

Sol along with Sun Jae who has fully knowledge of everything that has happened so far, will try to find a way out of the labyrinth.

  42. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo, yes, I take your point and I was also thinking of the scenario with Reset. I hope it works out as you have outlined… we sort of expect that.

With the memories being intact … if SJ can somehow access memories of past timelines, then so too does Tae Sung. I notice that he still considers IS his girlfriend, I believe that although the timelines have been changed, TS has been bringing his memories of IS as halmeoni from Timeline 1 to the present. There is now a merging of all memories. It is likely more possible too that memories for all have merged because IS followed through from the last time jump, to live her life from 2008 until the present.

If this is correct, then the watch that SJ wore that had 3 time jumps, now exists somewhere with just 2 time jumps left. If no one sees it flash and no one presses its button, nothing will happen.

If SJ and TS can have merged memories, then too should the Killer and other side characters, … to be consistent. Or might it be the case that only those who knew about the time traveling IS will remember.?.?

  43. @agdr03, I would expect nothing less than your pleasure watching those kisses. Do you remember the first one with Sun Jae stepping into Im Sol’s house. Gosh, I could hear it as well as see it! Blimey.

  44. Unnie,

In order everything to make sense with the Time Loops ARC, the chakkanim should be consistent, so the world building is consistent.

    So:

All those who are interacting with SOL should have a deja vu of sorts.

The fist one is Sun Jae.
Obviously! He is the yang in Sol’s yin. They are fated to be together and in every timeline Sun Jae died because he wanted to protect Sol.

The second one is the killer.
Most likely, he killed that person in the reservoir in 2008, but he was not caught back then. When he will meet Sun Jae, in the next episode as we have seen from the preview, his memories will also come back to him, kinda.

Fate will make the killer target Sun Jae and Sol one way or another. Because this time around, he didn’t like how SJ looked him for some reason.

    That’s the case!

When one of the people who are involved in this Time Loop, get to cross paths with each other, the memories should come back.

Sun Jae got Sol’s pitch about their tragic love story. While he started reading it. His soul started remembering, what his conscious mind couldn’t.
Memories started to come back. He couldn’t stop crying. He wanted to do the movie. He went over and over again to change Sol’s mind.

WHY? Because his soul remembers what his conscious mind doesn’t.

As for Tae Sung, he has stayed close to Sol, as In Hyuk has stayed close to Sun Jae. Those two are their confidants. Balance is needed for both of them.

Tae Sung used to have feelings for Sol, after her First Time Travel in the First Loop, so subconsciously, his soul recognizes her and wants to protect her as well.

In my opinion, this is the scheme the chakkanim should follow for the Time Loops to make sense.

And we have seen that she does.

Bits and bytes to be highlighted:

Sol’s Mom thought that Sun Jae was familiar to her, as Sun Jae’s Dad recognized Sol’s Halmeoni and that they used to live across their old neighbourhood.

Im Geum won the lottery with the number Sol’s gave him in the First Time Loop.

Hyun Joo still fell in love with Im Geum and had their children, even though this time around Im Geum is not working, but Hyun Joo does.

In Hyuk told Sun Jae not to be hard on Sol. Although this time around, In Hyuk is kinda different, that the previous timelines.

    And so on…

Sol has connections with all of those people. Those who come in contact with her or are very near to her in this Timeline, seem to have an memory awakening.

Basically, that is seems to be the case, in order all of these to make sense! If this applies to SJ and TS, then it also applies to the Killer.

This Universe has to be consistent.

  45. @Growing Beautifully, ref the intact memories, I was thinking of Tae Sung consciously remembering Im Sol scolding the students for smoking. If he could remember that, why couldn’t Sun Jae remember Im Sol running to him at the swimming pool? Logically Tae Sung could only remember that if IS repeated herself in the fourth time travel, unless, as @Cleo theorises, these things are also imprinted on people’s subconscious minds, like the lottery numbers. Or Tae Sung actually does remember ‘halmeoni’ Im Sol and their flirtation, because he was always the first to catch on. Tae Sung seemed to be taken aback when Im Sol mentioned Sun Jae when she was drunk in episode 13 and his courtship seemed to get more persistent afterwards in episode 14. I also wonder why Tae Sung and Sun Jae didn’t seem to recognise each other outside of IS’s house since they went to the same school? Tae Sung also seems to be close to In Hyuk so he would recall Sun Jae as a friend of In Hyuk’s.

  46. @Fern,

In this 2nd Time Loop, some things haven’t happened in the same way that had happened in the 1st Time Loop.

So far, we haven’t seen Tae Sung to be close to In Hyuk. They might have known each other in High School, but they didn’t keep in touch.

As we have seen so far, there is no ECLIPSE in this new Timeline.

At the same time, in the Original Timeline, Tae Sun didn’t know Sun Jae. They might have known each other from afar, like TS is the bassist, the other one is the swimmer and that’s it.

  47. Ella just posted a new FMV…!

    Enjoy!

  48. @FERN and @GB ~ You’re welcome for the re-cap. i’m glad it helps. it is a longer watch since i have to pay attention LOL so i rewind a lot. so it takes me two hours to watch and enjoy the show ♥
i noticed some misspells, oops. i should re-read them before posting. sigh.

Viki was down on my TV last nite 😭 – i ended up watching via my laptop again. aigoo. better than nothing hihi.

  49. Hi ladies, delurking as I’m hoping someone could clarify a part for me that I am confused about.

In the last timeloop, the 4th one: it got initiated while IS was in the past. So I’m assuming she travelled back in time from the university age to highschool age before meeting SJ… Is she still in that time-version, or did she come back to college year and then to 2023?

I.e., how much time subjectively has passed for IS since SJ’s last death? She says she watched his life from a side, and she had time to write and edit a script about her time travels (which she couldn’t have done if she just came back, as IS pre time-travel wakeup doesn’t carry those memories). Does that mean it’s been 15 years for her (which would explain her interfering here and there to help her brother and friend meet, give them the lottery number again, help TS not drop out of school etc)? Or did she come back some months ago, then write script, then meet him? (Any sense as to ‘when’ we are in now, relative to where we started in the 1st episode?)

  50. @Vasilisa,

Kalispera! It is good to have you in board.

I will answer to you in the morning! 🫰

  51. Correction : on board *

  52. Thank you, @Cleopatra, looking forward to the explanation! My mind got stuck in a reasoning loop and I can’t get out 😀

PS:I’m always happy to be on this board – I only tried this show out because I saw such a lively discussion about it happening here, that I knew it had to be worth a watch! Haven’t regretted it for a second, though it did seem to take over my life a bit too much 😀

  53. @Vasilisa – welcome!

I’ve been pondering this question since yesterday’s episode. I originally posted an in-process list of Timeline Exits and Entrances in an earlier BOD post and was hoping to finish it with yesterday’s episode but I’m not 100% sure what happened.

We know that Sol traveled back in time while she was already in T3–she went from May 2009 to the first time she and SJ met after activating his watch. I think she never came back to the present but re-lived her high school and college days on into the present. I argue this for two reasons:

–Whenever she travels back she usually ends up back to where she was before she traveled. She does NOT want to go back to that scene at the beach in May 2009 where SJ died.

–When she enters T4 she is wearing a different, long-sleeved uniform–so we can’t see if she is wearing the watch. However, she is shown wearing short sleeves–and no watch–in the next scene where her family is moving. SJ’s desk calendar says the month is then May 2009. (There is also an event marked for May 3, which disappears as the camera pans his desk). I would argue that she took off the watch so she wouldn’t return to that moment in 2009 where she saw SJ die for the third time.

Going through high school again would be akin to purgatory for me. So Sol is really valiant in doing this, all to save her man!

If someone has a different take on this, please share!

Philosophically one has to ask what happens to the original Sol when time traveling Sol takes over her body–do they become one and the same?

  54. @BethB,

I have been wondering what happens to the original Sol too! It seems the show does not concern itself with that question, so I just go with the flow. I guess I was thinking about Someday or One Day.

  55. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Cleo, thanks for your nice long post with detailed explanations and Ella’s video edit.
    Hi also to @Fern, @Snow Flower, @BethB, @HK_Lady and welcome @Vasilisa

    About Being Consistent
Yes, I was hoping that I’m not the only one expecting this. I am eagle-eyed looking out for consistency in this Show. If some characters remember but others do not, that feels like an error on the part of the Writer.

About IS in the Last Time Jump
My guess coincides with some of the others’ in that IS went back in time and stayed on as a high-schooler to go through her life into adulthood. So she had to live again 15 years but with changes now automatically in her life because she behaved differently from the previous timelines. This is the most logical flow of the plot based on the fact that the ‘magical’ watch is with SJ and not with IS.

Unlike ‘Someday or One Day’, the soul of the original IS does not get placed in some limbo while the time traveling IS takes over her body. In essence, what happens in this 4th time jump seems to be that IS remains one and the same with all memories merged. There is no more earlier, clueless IS now because IS never jumps back to 2023.

So with this scenario, it is possible for IS to have given the lottery number to Im Geum, for her to have written the script and maybe she might have kept in touch with Tae Sung. Maybe Ep 15 or 16 will finally give us a bit of explanatory flashbacks so that we know how she spent those 15 years growing up apart from SJ.

  56. Hi all! I really enjoyed these episodes.

There is a possibility that IS returned to 2023 as each number on the watch allows two-way travel, i.e., to the past and back. I don’t like the thought of 49-year old IS in 2023. How weary her soul would be, having to relive 15 years of her life after all that trauma.

I think the only one whose memories of IS has changed/been buried is SJ. TS remembers 34-year old noona IS in school so he remembers all that happened. IS might’ve still went out with him in 2008, although he doesn’t call her ex-girlfriend in 2023. TS knows that she misses SJ, and he will help SJ remember the past.
TS has been inspired by IS – graduating from high school, running a business, and now working as a cop, which she had said he’d be a good fit for. He will also be instrumental in capturing the killer. We haven’t seen TS’ dad Detective Kim in 2023 – I hope his dad is ok!
TS has also remained close to In Hyuk as he said he should’ve asked IH to introduce the model Chaeni to him.

I like the play on Heavenly Granny. Granny in real like knows and remembers what’s going on.

I like how forthright and persistent 34-year old SJ is, in contrast to his younger self. IS noticed too, “His personality is different”.

There should also be two more travels on SJ’s watch. Maybe they could join forces and travel together but that may be too far-fetched.

I love that we have been told there will be a happy ending as SJ does not like sad endings!

  57. Kalimera Ladies!

@Vasilisa, let me make some things clearer for you.

We have a 1st Time Loop with 3 Time Travels.

In the Original Timeline, when Sun Jae died, Sol went back in 2008, the day when Sun Jae was swimming back in Episode 1.

In her 3rd Timeline, indeed Sol went to their University days.

The First Time Loop happened while Sol was wearing Sun Jae’s watch that she had bought in the Original Timeline.

After Sun Jae’s death in the 3rd Time Travel. HIS watch opened a new time loop. It was Sun Jae’s watch that activated the Second Time Loop.
Sol’s watch didn’t have any more options. If she didn’t press that button, she would live in a Timeline where Sun Jae died early in his 20s.

So, since a 2nd Time Loop happened, Sol went back again to 2008, but this time earlier than before. It was the day where she was going to meet Sun Jae for the first time accidentally and Sun Jae would fall in love with her, BUT she didn’t let that happen. Sol retracted herself from his life, observing him from afar. If you remember, they left the neighbourhood, while Sun Jae had his arm surgery for the second time.

The same characteristics of the Time Travel occur in every Time Travel and in every Time Loop, what I really mean with this is the following:

We know that Sol experienced a 2 months period in the past, more or less, and then she returned back in her time. I suspect that is the case here too. She came back and started watching him from afar as an adult.

In this Second Time Loop, Sol kept all the memories of the First Time Loop by herself.

As for the things that happened in the previous Time Loop and also happened in the 1st Time Travel of the 2nd Loop, like Im Geum winning the lottery, as I have written above, some things that were supposed to happen, indeed happened.

Others were imprinted to the individuals who were involved in the previous Time Loop. What I mean with that?

For example, Im Geum fall in love with Hyun Joo and they got married again. This is the third time it happens!

In Hyuk became a singer again, he is just solo and Eclipse doesn’t exist in this Timeline. Sun Jae became an actor. Both of them are in the Entertainment Industry.

The only person’s life who became better is definitely Tae Sung’s.

We know that in the Original Timeline, before the Time Loops, he missed his graduation, he was almost expelled, everyone thought he was a disaster, but with Sol’s interference in his life, he was now a cop, following his father’s footsteps.

Most likely, she started writing her pitch / script, the moment she returned back home, in her new reality, not wanted to forget what had happened with Sun Jae. A Homage of sorts.

I hope what I have written above, helped you!

  58. @BethB,

I have written some things to @Vasilisa above. Regarding in the question both you and @SnowFlower has and since this is a Time Loop.

I believe that the Original Sol has now unlocked all the memories from the First Time Loop, that’s why she tried to stay away from Sun Jae, even after the 34 y.o. Sol version returned back to 2023.

In a way, Sol has been incorporated / downloaded all the memories in HER Consciousness. There is only one Sol who remembers it all. That’s why she misses Sun Jae so very much this time around.

  59. Good morning, everyone. Like @Cleopatra, I thought that Im Sol didn’t stay in the same time frame from the 4th time travel. It would be too much, as @Hana says, for her soul to now be in her 40s.

Since her previous time travels were a couple of months usually, I think that continues, but she had two in a row. TT3 was slightly shorter than normal, so perhaps TT4 was a bit longer. She said upon return, that a few seasons had passed.

Now what I’m wondering is what happened to Sun Jae’s watch. If Im Sol still bid on it a few years prior to 2023, or if someone else bid for and received it with a couple of time travels still remaining on it. Or if Sun Jae still has it, perhaps. I need to know more about that watch.

  60. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and theories. Here are my responses and additions:

–Someone above said that SJ is now only an actor. But his dad tells the grandma in his restaurant that his son recently had had a concert with 50,000 attendees. So he is a idol-actor. What I’m not sure about is whether he is solo or still part of Eclipse. I hope Ep 15 clarifies this! [this is going to be a refrain in this post I’m afraid]

–I don’t think there is going to be any more time travel. For one thing, we viewers probably can’t take it anymore and it would get repetitive if it happens a FIFTH time. More importantly, as Sol realized, the watch is only activated when SJ dies and in this 4th timeline, he is still alive. Plus the watch is nowhere to be found. [Of course if SJ dies in Ep 15, I assume it could be reactivated–but I really hope not.]

–I’m about 50/50 at this point as to whether Sol TT-ed back to 2023 after May 2009 or if she was stuck in the past and had to relive high school and college–if so she is really an old soul/halemoni! It depends on whether she needs the watch to go back. In her first exit (from T1–Ep 3, 1:02:45), it showed the watch activating to send her back. SJ also realizes that the Sol he sees in T3 who says she doesn’t recognize him is still wearing the watch so she hasn’t actually gone back.

I don’t see a watch on her wrist in any of the scenes from T4–I think she might be there without it. Or perhaps she is choosing not to wear it because she thinks it will take her back to 2009, to the beach/cliff, instead of 2023. [I hope Ep 15 clarifies this!]. The watch now may be lost, somewhere in SJ’s dad’s house or auctioned off to another fan. I really can’t predict if we will see it again.

  61. Thanks @Cleopatra for your post! I thought about it and I think I now agree with you on the few months. She would have stayed long enough to make some changes. And she came back for some time now to have written the script. I gues that ‘have to happen’ moments with SJ and taxi driver restarted once she met him, even if it’s not same time as it was in original version. If she were technically 50 years old now, she’d have to telegraph more weariness and maturity, just like she did when she was a 34 year old in highschool. But she doesn’t seem to ‘not fit’ her age…

@Beth does she actually have to wear the watch to return? I had the impression from previous travels that she has no control about when she is pulled back. I thought she wore the watch just because it was important to her. Once she comes back to a time span, the watch is were it logically be in that ‘reality’, unaffected by wether she wore it or not at the moment of being pulled back?

I’m not sure about ‘imprinting’. I think unless Sol has changed something in their lives due to her actions, their lives would go from the point of her T4 reset, unaffected by her previous changes. So whatever changes are in the new 2023 have to have been set in motion by her on her last visit.

There is also a fuzzy line about what was ‘supposed to happen’ vs what happened because of circumstances. Let’s assume that the ‘supposed to happen’ things happened before time travel, because we had no interference at that point. In that original timeline:

    1. House has a fire and mom gets scarred
    2. Taxi driver kidnaps IS and then slams into her with the taxi
    3. Im Geum and Hyun Joo are not together
    4. Tae Sang drops out of school
    5. SJ becomes and idol at Eclipse

By going back in time to the point where IS meets SJ the first time, she has to have done some kind of modifications within that visit to explain ALL these changes.

So, how are these events affected by IS going back and moving?

    1. House Fire: Since IS convinces her family to move (? that must’ve been a tricky conversation, how do you convince your parent/grandparent to quickly uproot for no reason and abandon home and business?) the fire doesn’t happen. So that was not a firm ‘supposed to happen’

    2. Kidnapping: If IS doesn’t live in the same place, she’s probably not get on the same bus, so the kidnapper would’ve gone for someone else? (I don’t know if I trust that logic, because in her 2nd time loop she was in a different place and got kidnapped again. So how did she avoid being kidnapped this time, especially if she went back to 2023 and the IS in highschool had no idea she needed to avoid anything?) She had to have stayed in the past long enough for kidnapper to attempt to kidnap someone and to get arrested for her to be safe all the way into 2023. I.e. from T1 and T2 this was ‘supposed to happen’, but now it isn’t? For me this is not clear and I hope the writers explain it better in next episode.

    3. Im Geum & Hyun Joo: Let’s assume that since IS didn’t get disabled, her brother didn’t have to mature up and was allowed to continue interacting with people, developing a natural relationship with Hyun Joo? I’ll give the show a pass on this one. So this is a ‘perk’, not ‘supposed to happen’.

    4. Tae Sang: For Tae Sang, most feasible explanation I can think of is IS doing the noona act on him before moving away, and setting him on the right path. She must’ve stayed long enough to get through to him at the time. So Tae Sang becoming a cop is a ‘perk’ of time travel too.

    5. Eclipse: This is the only reasonably explained one, since he never met IS, so he didn’t write a song for her. He is famous though. So shoulder injury and fame were ‘supposed to happen’, but Eclipse specifically was not.

I also do not feel that we have proof of her meddling impacting anyone’s memories except grandma and SJ. But grandma was affected from the very first, so it has more to do with her dimentia/magicalness from the onset. She was picking up multiple time versions even after T3 return. (and in the first episode she was putting bridal makeup on IS! was she confusing timelines then too?!! )

SJ didn’t show any memories impacting him in the first set of travels, but does now. I think that may have to do more with the fact that it is HIS watch, and it was on HIS hand when the last trip back was triggered. So he got actively involved in the looping? While others are just tangenial bystanders (I agree with @GB that memory recapturing has to be consistent. Either everyone, noone, or people with really good clear reasons – like magical grandma or actually wearing the device)…

One more thought is Chechov’s gun: we are already shown the 2nd watch, and the 3 counts on it was used only once. i.e. the countdown is on. Narratively they can’t just abandon it as is without explaining what happens to the other 2 counts, because that opens the door to 2 more travels available. It’s like saying: the character gets 3 wishes, but we will end the show after 1… I wonder if that means that SJ get to go on a trip too and do things his way :D…

  62. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @Vasilisa
Thanks for your clear write-up on trying to figure out how some changes could take place if IS was pulled back into 2023 once her time to make changes elapsed in 2008. While on the one hand I would think that the time travel being consistent might mean IS only has a couple of months in 2008, it’s hard to imagine that she could have effected enough changes in some areas like Tae Sung’s life. It feels more possible if IS were to have continued in that last timeline.

Whether she stayed on for 15 years or left after a couple of months, it also does not explain how the Killer hovers in places where she might be… places as far away as the reservoir and then although in T4 he should not have met her, to then be near where she lived. Kdramas might just use the convenience of Fate.

About Chekov’s Gun, that’s so true. We hope we do not have another instance of SJ dying and that watch flashing its light once again in IS’s presence!

I was wondering about that wind-up clock. Since there was no time capsule in this new reality, that clock should still be with IS, if she had it all along.

You are not alone in hoping that Ep 15 gives clarity. I’ve seen that comment repeated by another. Show has been holding too many cards too close to itself. It’s time to lay more of them on the table.

  63. Correction: I’d said earlier that the grandma now no longer has dementia because she didn’t see Sol get hurt. But in Ep 14, she is found to carry an Alzheimer’s ID card. (And I should have listened more carefully when she is shown sitting with the family at breakfast–she says she wants to go to school/daycare with the children).

It’s still possible that her mind is affected by her remembering four different timelines at once, but an Alzheimer’s diagnosis is a medical condition than is different than just someone containing multiverses in their mind.

  64. @Beth B, I was wondering if a deity inhabits Grandma from time to time in the way that the top deity inhabited Yoo Deok-hwa (the grandson) in Goblin. So that she may well have Alzheimer’s but sometimes it’s not really her speaking, but a deity speaking through her. Or perhaps she herself has some of the powers of a seer or shaman. In any case, she is somehow aware of the loop. After the 1st time travel, she wanted Im Sol to stay as she was, but it seemed that she understood that it might not happen.

  65. Yes, I believe Granny has moments of clarity in the fog of dementia.

On consistency and links to the past/fate:

    – SJ brings yellow flowers for IS at the pitch meeting, just as he brought yellow flowers to her home when he was drunk in the original timeline (T0). Here he brings golden ranunculi 🌼
    – SJ wears the same necklace he gave to IS in 2009.
    – SJ watched IS as she walks along the corridor to her home, as he did in T0 2023.
    – He runs to join IS on the ferris wheel, sitting in the same seat as in 2009.
    – He asks why IS was crying, and if he made her cry, as he did in T0 2023 and in 2008.
    – They have tea at the same hotel bar, as they did in T2 2023.

  66. SPOILER FOR EPISODE 15

TVN has posted this clip on Instagram, which is from (I assume) the early moments of Episode 15: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7VCLCuCVCE/

It made me think that Im Sol’s reference to The Terminator in an earlier episode was apt, not only for the time travel aspect but also because SJ himself is a little like the Terminator. While the Terminator (in Terminator 2) was programmed to save John Connor, SJ is programmed to save Sol in all his lifetimes.

[PS I’ve never posted a URL here before so I hope the link works]

    See you all on Monday!

  67. What a fun clip.
SJ made those tricky stairs look easy, can’t wait!
