Greetings all, watched episode 8 last night and found it to be another tight, well done one. Big reveal at end. I’ll be visiting the local farmers market when our discussion BOD is happening so will check back in a few hours from now. Recently read that there will be a Signal 2 so am happy with our current rewatch of Signal. Perfect timing!
Hi @LL, glad to know you’ve managed to watch today’s rewatch episode. Yes, Show just gets better or stays as good all the way through. I agree that we have timed it just right for the second season. I cannot recall if we already knew about it as well when we decided what to watch next for our Saturdays.

We seem to not have a resume now… just a cold open to the team trying to figure out the Shin Da Hye case. This episode we don’t get Jae Han much except in flashbacks I think.

In a weird way, rewatch party has become “time travel and dimensional travel” rewatch. 😂
@WE, it seems to be the interest of this group and offer more chances to analyse the plot as well as the production quality and writing.
@GB, well… I don’t trust a lot cold open. It’s more “oh oh oh it starts”, music credit, “quick quick I’ve to go to piss now, and take my beer from the fridge.” 🙂

Such tension creating music. Love how Gye Chul never gets it or understands until much later. He speaks the words that are in our heads … how can someone dead be alive… what is happening???? LOL

@WE, Da Hye was the girl who did not die … she pretended to be dead because Han Se Kyu thought he killed her. Watch and see!

What is your opinion of this scene where Hae Young accosts Han at the club. He’s just goading him? Trying to get him panicked? Preparing him based on his profiling to get him to make a mistake?
No one told him to go and speak with Han, I believe.

Super cool gesture: drop the ice in the glass with slowmotion and slowmo sound.
@WE, HY was being so dramatic with Han watching him. It was all for ‘show’ to see what Han would say and do, I think. It was probably also this kind of confrontation that would get Han to react… it did work in the end.
AAAAyy. The Jerk remove the ice taximan put into his glass.
HOW SYMBOLIC!
Taximan was trying to freeze his blood.
But jerk answer is: no you don’t.
Han points out that what HY does now is not legal in court. Love how HY goads him, because Han thinks people like HY are beneath him.
Scene ends in a classic makjang rage, raze a table, or throw something to crash, like a glass.
@WE, yes! Good catch! Han was rejecting everything HY said so he threw the ice out. But HY tossed the entire ice bucket at the end LOLOL.
@WE. Temper tantrum Hah!
At the police station, the team is surprised that Ahn does not scold HY but ask questions reasonably. Ahn was not a bad cop to begin with.
@GB, I think HY is impulsive. He did not have any concrete evidence to nab Han Se Kyu yet he went to see Han Se Kyu. I didn’t think HY had any plans whether profiling Han Se Kyu or just to feel him out, he went to vent his anger.
The cut back and forth in the narrative is very effective in telling us exactly what each scene is talking about… what the evidence is and how it came to be.
@FF, that could be true too. I believe, now that you say this, that it was both… he wanted to vent and at the same time to goad Han into making a mistake. Yes, he had no evidence at that stage, so he needed Han to confess… to give himself away somehow.

@FF, well, instant jokes are a kind of find a funny line in a flash, but it’s also true while writing a script, just more time and way to improve it.
Just read my stuff. Maybe not W s2 as I didn’t ended the rewrite, but the short drama beginning:
“Bookstore when you rent my heart”.
There are comedy scenes in this, and also crazy makjang scenes (almost funny with a step back, but some are harsh and will make you insanely furious, and want to kill a character).

“Bookstore” is not a sci-fi story, it’s kdrama, with many actors you know. ahah. Heroine is the girl from “my boyfriend is a guhimo”.
@FF, just listening to the way Han speaks to Bad Boss Kim and Ahn shows his attitude. IRONY … he says the police should do what they are supposed to do, but his version of this means that the police are supposed to hide his crimes, while the true version is that they should expose them!!!

Hah! the Cold Case Squad does not trust their own bosses. So they gave them an incomplete recording of the evidence. That means that Soo Hyun doctored the evidence to give to boss much earlier!!!
@GB, HSK has a twisted view of what the police are supposed to do. He thinks they are his dogs, suck up to him and do his biddings.
@WE, in Korea even killers are polite to each other LOL.
@FF, yes, that’s what leads to Han’s downfall as well. He depended on them to keep him safe no matter what horrible things he did.
In the end, the boyfriend of Kim Da Hye saved her by knocking on the door. Thanks to him, more and more evil is unearthed.
The way Han Se Kyu and bad boss Kim looked at the opening door not knowing what to expect, so comical. Han Se Kyu thought he saw a ghost.
For some reason, the cop from past couldn’t arrest the jerk. But even if it fails now, I expect the Talkie time-talk to start again, so he can succed.
@FF, She really was a ghost to him.
Soo Hyun is strong enough to fight a guy. How evil BBKim is to send a guy to get Da Hye and to almost kill SH when she tried to stop him.
Taximan answered the call of past cop:
No matters weird time phenomenon, just arrest the bad guys.
So satisfying that Han has confessed and now HY can rub his face into the fact that it’s all legal. Hah! Spoilt brat throwing big tantrum. Shame, shame on his shouting like that. How can BBKim see this and want to keep serving these kinds of people.

Such a good resolution when Da Hye meets her ex-boyfriend who saved her.
We get the flashback of JH and Soo Hyun in the past. The words he says to her here… are to be noted and remembered.
So we do get a little bit of Jae Han doing his investigation of Kim Jin Hee and the floppy diskette.
Past Soo Hyun sees BBKim taking the envelope from JH’s table.
Gosh, the writer didn’t forget to make us hate the corrupted bad cops. AHHAAAAHRRRAAA!!!!!
@WE so irritating… the evidence that proves the corruption over the Jinyang Construction will get buried by the prosecutors. The building corruption is linked to the bridge collapse too. So the cases of the burglaries, the corruption and the murder of Kim Jin Hee are all linked.
@GB, I think I rewatched ep9 (not sure), anyway, I’ll rewatch next episodes before the rewatch and finds that. 😉
Walkie talkie sound again? Isn’t it with Ahn?
Jae Han swears to BBKim that he would never leave the force until he dies… he would bring down the ‘master’ for whom BBKim wags his tail.
We need to remember this for later. Both sort of came true.
BBKim has treated Ahn so badly that Ahn is turning against him.

We see what happened to JH at the end of the episode and wonder what brought him to this point. So interesting… and we see that the same Ahn of the past is now confronting another person with the same walkie talkie…. chilling!
@WE, HY thought the walkie talkie had been thrown away but he hears it calling his name and follows the sound of static to Ahn’s desk.
@WE, you started Bookstore with no conclusion!!!???
@GB, I need to continue to the next episode. This drama drives me nuts.

I’m reading Bookstore now … but even before going in to read, see what @WE says under the Bookstore Heart – Project. He’s doing just 4 chapters/episodes LOL.
@GB, yes! No conclusion! No full map of the drama, but I made that in a way you get the feeling there is a full map. Probably I would rewrite some part when I know the full outline. But as I say on the thread, the pleasure comes from the “here and now”. As it’s the way I watch dramas anyway.
To be exact, it’s 25 minutes episodes. I did that for a kind of challenge.
But I used that to improve about editing and concisness.
Of course, I had a lot of ideas. Even if I didn’t had the full drama in mind, I still did a solid outline for the 4 ep before writing. That’s go without saying. 😉
@GB, I dislike to start something and not end it. So, I definite a goal, even when it’s not an ending. My goal was just a drama beginning, so I respect the objective.
