Dear All, as @monmor says, it’s good to have an un-stressful episode that we don’t need to unpack. I suppose we will get the opposite tomorrow, because we have come to the day in the drama that is accident day.

I liked that Im Sol learned to ride a bike, as her father had wished. And she prayed to her father for his help to protect her and Sun Jae.

But gosh, Sunjae was made to be a lead singer, or actor 😉, right? The scene where Im Sol is remembering him in various roles is funny.

The two orange jackets was funny! But Tae Sung doesn’t end up in the band in the future.

@ Fern. Maybe the Phone will be part of tomorrow’s stressful episode. I thought maybe something would happen when TS Called her phone when he was in the Computer hangout.

I do not think they had locks on the phones then or at least straight forward ones to use.

I enjoyed the humourous scenes. Teaching her how to ride a bike made me think of boyfriends/husbands teaching their girlfriends/wives to drive a car. Maybe foreshadowing? Or maybe she will not be able to drive. Actually she said something to that effect.

I remember one of us wondered if she witnessed a crime. Now the killer,if there is one, might have her personal information.

“you won’t be able to sleep, you would want to lose it all.” After being gifted the cell phone by her.

Even if he was murdered, he was deeply unhappy in the original future. But when Sol blurted it out, time didn’t stop.

The future has changed. Sun Jae will intervene in her accident.

Taxi ride. SJ reminds Sol that their first meeting was her mistaking him for a delivery guy. And instead of answering her question about bringing in their video store, he feigned sleep.

Sol voice over- Being back in the past now she realized the missed opportunities of connection with SJ – how he was just an arm’s reach. How SJ knew her name and even saved her. She’s finding the purpose of this time travel- to claim back those missed moments.

Sol wakes SJ up the next morning coz she saw a rainbow 🌈 but SJ couldn’t see it so she sprayed water 💦 and it reflected the rainbow and SJ remembers their meeting- Sol is like a rainbow in his life. She is beautiful as she is spraying the water- with that smile of hers. Until her mom gets wet and goes after her- in the process her pink laced bra flew to the other side at the foot of SJ lolz 🤣 and when he returned it, she said it’s her grandma’s. Idk hahaha

Since SJ is not a friend, Sol claims him as her lifesaver and her, the swallow. I like how she tried to protect him from the motorbike and water splash 💦 by pushing him to the wall. Me thinks SJ’s heart is a flutter. 😍

Sol gives SJ a time capsule and they bury it. He’s not to open it til midnight of Jan 1st 2023. She’s setting up the date to evade his death.
I wonder if it would still be there hmmm. Or what happens if they end up together in the future anyways? Hmmm

We find that the reason he went after her the night of the accident was because TS was just dating her to get rid of the other girl 🙄

Sol is missing her tie. SJ drapes the tie over her head and me thinks Sol’s heart is a flutter 🥰. TS sees this. SJ gets the punishment for lending his tie to Sol. TS got punished too and he challenged SJ who can run faster. TS couldn’t catch up. Is TS falling in love with Sol coz his behavior is changing per his buddy.

To divert SJ’s attention from the Olympic Games, Sol takes him on a date. He pretends like he’s not pleased but we see a wry smile on his face. Flutter moment 1. The things she does to divert his attention further. Tells him to bow *joke. She grabs his face – flutter moment 2 🥰 – and starts showing off how she can roll her eyes 👀 LOL. He smiles. In the bus, she puts her headsets on him – flutter moment 3. Is there music? It doesn’t look like a noise cancelling headphones. In the end, SJ was able to see the moment South Korea won gold and he was ecstatic to tears. He has no regrets. That he’s fine.

Looks like Sol’s bff is starting to like her brother 😳

On their way home, they saw Sol’s mom with a guy. SJ and Sol ends up on the pole to hide🤣 then she keeps stepping on his head 🫨
SJ enters his house and his dad pretends that he’s not watching the match. SJ made him understand that he’s ok. That he’s making him more uncomfortable by what he’s doing.

After going to the police station, Sol was at the bridge where she fell. Apparently they found a body nearby. Then the “keychain” dangled and it triggered a memory. Like she was in the taxi. 🚕 the driver has her phone. We see his face.

At the market, Sol encourages her mom to date.
In the mini store, Sol’s brother IG and SJ hold hands while cheering for South Korea. 🇰🇷 then he mistakenly blames him for making Sol drunk and punishes him 😬 lol until Sol sees this and defends SJ. Funny how the mom ends up dragging both her kids off like little brats 😂

The band is missing TS and a good singer.

Sol picks up learning how to ride the bike again for her dad. She tried on her own until SJ shows up and we see him lose his “Composure” 🤪 as he trains her. Sol tells him to be more encouraging and he did, even when she fell, she fell nicely haha 😆 They persevere and then SJ let’s go and start jogging alongside her. She takes in the moment. ☺️

SJ and TS ends up wearing the same silk orange bowling jacket. Is this a group date before the gig? It was entertaining to see the guys act like peacocks 🦚

At the gig, SJ ends up singing with the band – he did it to get Sol a new phone and she went off on him- to not worry about others and just think of his own happiness. Is it because him thinking of her led him to this other path that won’t make him happy in the end? Why can’t he worry about her?

Walking home from school, Sol is listening to her mp3 and she was surprised to her their conversation and she wants to delete it. Nooooh. Listen to it and hear the confession of SJ. She’s not paying attention and she nearly crosses the street. SJ runs in front of her to protect her from oncoming traffic.

Selfish SJ tells Sol to break up with TS. And at that moments, she hears SJ’s confession on her earbud. She clasped her hand over her mouth. I do the same thing. OMO Daebak! Perfect ending to this episode.

Preview. What will a relationship with SJ mean for their future?

Kalimera, @Cleopatra. I remember you watched Destined with You, when there was a good shaman and a bad shaman. Since there’s a shaman in this drama, perhaps the shaman has something to do with the watch?

@Arihsi, back to tea this morning. You are right. I noticed it, but thought perhaps it wasn’t an an absolute prediction, as it could be considered almost like nagging or preaching by Sun Jae. He doesn’t believe her in any case. I think the only thing that sticks in him mind is that she wants him to become more selfish. So was it a continuity error or deliberate, do you think?

And now we see that he has asked her (in ‘selfish’ mode) to dump Tae Sung and be his girlfriend. She didn’t anticipate that. She wants to be his friend, protect him and fangirl him. We’ll see how she responds tonight.

Regarding the time capsule and the promise to meet on the bridge in 2023 at midnight. They may work, but what if one of them forgets? We heard that the area was redeveloped, so did the time capsule get unearthed before then? Will Im Sol keep these memories when she returns to 2023 – and wasn’t she stuck in the stream at midnight on New Years Eve?

I am not going to say that the taxi driver is a shaman per se. He believes he does the same job as them. He is delusional of course.

Regarding your question, because he left his victim near the water. Water is an element and means purification. Hence, Holy Water. In that way he thinks he purifies them. Twisted, right?

I know that most of you cannot watch “Through The Darkness”, but it gives great intel about Serial Killers and WHY they are doing their crimes. It has to do with the First ever Profiler in S.Korea, which is partly a true story, because the script is based on his book and he has also written the script with someone else.

After IS’s falling into the water and losing her cellphone, TS cannot reach her. LOL. So we get several days with just her and SJ, and without TS’s interference (Good job, Writer-nim!)

Loved all their fan and idol moments which might as well have been unofficial ‘dating’ moments.

One question that was never asked, and which I found to be a ‘hole’ of some kind. SJ finds that IS is right, in that continuing with swimming was going to injure him. Yet he has not taken the step to ask her how she knows. He has also not noted that she has ‘multiple’ personalities the way TS has, granted that she does not manifest the T1 IS as much, but T1 IS had rejected him big time when she just got together with TS. Now she does not even seem to be spending time with TS at all, and he’s not curious why.

Perhaps it will take the return of T1 IS to finally wake SJ up to something else going on with IS.

With this second return to 2008, there have been enough changes that will affect the future. For one thing, IS can ride a bicycle now. She tells SJ that he’s her life saver, and he finds that she also tries to save and protect him. She tells him that no matter what happens to them in the future, they are to meet at midnight when it becomes 1st Jan 2023. I want to see the future!!

Besides learning how to cycle, I want IS to also learn how to cross the road properly. 🤪🫣🫨😮‍💨

@Hana, true about the maths exam. It made me think that this actually happened that year and was something unique and unusual. Perhaps the grades were thrown out or modified or something due to public outcry? I didn’t catch the complete effect except that Im Sol thought studying hard for maths wouldn’t be a good use of time.

@Growing Beautifully, I think that Sun Jae may think his injury is just a coincidence and a result of improper healing, so he wouldn’t ask her how she knew. It might be too difficult for most people to question how she knows the future, so he is coping mentally by just ignoring it, playing along (the time capsule) or not believing it. This is why I wrote that him wanting to say he was sorry was more about not believing her than about saving her in an accident. But I might be well off the right track here. I’ll wait because the show will make things more obvious.

I have a feeling it’s going to be interesting because of a couple of reasons.

Not least because of the scenes in this reel that are yet to air.

We’re in 2023. She still loves him. She is still a number one fan of his work.

But because her intervention in past worked and she retained her mobility, she also works as a part of a team of assistants to directors. She works WITH him, therefore, having access to him (Only then can she save him, no matter how sulky he is)

To me, this was so cool of the writer. I was concerned as to how a mere commoner Im Sol would get access to a high profile idol. She does because she’s in a team he works with for movies!

This part makes me so happy!

Although we have reverse amnesia at hand ?

We’ll come to know about his mental health status in a while BUT there is a third time travel that gets used up ???

Wavy hair time travel ? Their 20 year University days ? She ACCEPTED his proposal then because of the photo I shared. After we got ep 6 yesterday , it become clear that accident doesn’t take place in the timeline of that picture of them holding hands together or his cradling her face in the preview.

I think the saving Sun Jae part won’t take place in the time travel. I think she’ll save him in the present. As in, she has delayed the whole thing with her intervention. Not prevented it.

The Adult Fan or the Adult IS
All along IS had been operating as a 34-yo fan of a person whom at 19 years of age, she felt she had (as an adult) to protect. Now she finds that she has to protect him from herself!

T2 and T3 IS never had the thought that SJ would fall for her after so many close encounters that they had. Once again, this episode, they are in each other’s arms and Im Geum wakes to catch them at it, so SJ lets IS run away and hugs Im Geum instead. LOL. It takes Hyun Ju’s pointing out all the stuff that IS did for SJ to make her realise that her actions could have been misconstrued.

I agree with @Arihsi that she chose the only right thing to do, and that was to tell SJ plainly that she did not/could not reciprocate his feelings in his 2008 timeline, although she liked him a lot too, and not only as a fan.

But I did like his love confession, starting with how he disliked rain but came to like it because of her.

And not only does IS find that she has to protect SJ, she also has to protect her own 19-yo T1 self from Tae Sung,…

And then she also has to protect 19-yo Tae Sung, from both her 34-yo self and her foolish 19-yo T1 self. After breaking up with TS, IS tries to get the big white teddy bear back but her T1 recorded voice tells TS that their love will last forever.
IS: “I think the worst villain in my life is my past self.”

IS and Mum
IS learns only from this T3 timeline that her Mum had not gone out with friends to Jeju-do but had been hospitalised and had surgery. She recalls how self-centred she’d been as her past self who had resented Mum taking a break.

This realisation makes her cry bitterly at how she’d treated her Mum in the past. We only become wise from years of hindsight!

On top of that in this T3 she has told her mum that they can live well without her.

Tae Sung
I agree with @Fern that TS is perceptive and thoughtful … more mature than he’s given credit for, because he acts up and appears to be a delinquent. One assumes it’s because of how his parents have left him too much to himself.

Even in the hospital, it seems that TS has no guardian with him after he breaks his arm in an accident. His father does not even come to see him, and goodness knows whether he has a mum.

His foolish friend is the only one around him but he kicks even this friend out for spouting info he does not want to hear. Only IS gives him good advice. Seeing a patient on wheelchair being pushed past them, she considers that she might meet with her accident soon and tells TS : “TS, I don’t know what kind of scars you have or pain you have to face. But I want you to spend the time you have now in the best way possible, so you have no regrets later on. This is all I can say to my first love. So please. You should try to change your fate too. I’ll pray for that with all of my heart.”

TS notes correctly that it sounds like a goodbye.

The Killer
This episode also warns against giving out one’s home address to callers whom one does not know. Grandma innocently tells the Killer where to find IS.

Last episode, when IS hears shaman bells, she gets a traumatic reaction of fear and a memory of being tied up in a car, that was driving her in the rain.

History seems to repeat itself but our previews tell us that things don’t go as they had before.

Bookending
As usual, when I notice it, I like the bookending. We start with memories of IS running in a rain shower with her yellow umbrella to shelter SJ, and we end the episode with IS out at night with her yellow umbrella to look for SJ. However he finds her umbrella but IS is not there holding it.

@GB, love all your notes on Ep 6. I was a bit disappointed when you said “you had nothing to say” because that would mean the drama didn’t deliver quality (like the horrendous My Demon and flatland WI) I hadn’t seen Ep 6 then myself.

I especially love your “book ending” notes. Love the concept and I feel this drama is really well directed (it has THREE directors, not one and two of them with good solid experience). They remember to do stuff and draw parallels.

And yes. No matter what the young viewers of this drama feel, Sol did the right thing by declining 19 year old Sun Jae’s affection. Sure, she was bounding to him the moment she realised that she was SJ’s first love in original timeline but ok. I think we’ll see more on this in third time travel.

More so with pacing and directing,
I’m super glad we’re out of their school phase. They could have done only so much there. I can’t wait for an adult, stilleto clad Im Sol running around screem-whispering Sun Jae yaaaaaaaaa…

And of course, it would mean 🛶 to 🏝️. I have to be very cryptic here @GB else Pm3 will throw me out.

My Ep 5 recap didn’t post yet. Just putting this out here just in case…

EP 6 my recap n stuff

Summer 2013. Timeline 1?
It’s raining. Sol is in a wheelchair but happily listening to the radio and the song “rain shower” by eclipse. The DJ asked about the inspiration of the song- SJ’s first love. Sol wonders who the girl is. Not knowing it is her. 🥰

Back to the past. Sol beats TS for breaking the heart of Sol v1. And head buts him – that would kill me. She’s definitely showing her tough side the 2nd time travel around. That explains the red welt on her forehead.
She told him they’re through and warned him not to get back together with Sol v1.
And SJ is worried she’s getting beat up by that Choi girl.

Sol finally knows that SJ likes her. She asked why and ran off to catch the bus leaving SJ 😳

TS not only hurt his head but his heart as well. He can’t believe it either. SJ sees them and he was about to punch TS until he heard he got dumped. Then he gave him a hug instead. This news uplifted SJ’s spirits. Then he saw Sol sobbing and totally misunderstood her thinking she’s crying and will be drinking her sorrows away 😂 her brother sees them and he did a flying kick and SJ went down. Some of the Makgoelli went inside his mouth and he was out.

At Sol’s house, SJ is asleep in the bedroom. Sol turned on the fan and sat by the bed. She put her hand on his chest to make sure he’s still breathing. Unconsciously, SJ moves his hand over to sol’s hand. Then he woke up. Sol had to hide under the bed. SJ sees her hair and sol tries to silence him. His brother walks in and SJ had to improvise quick and cover her with the blanket. As they try to get up, her brother sees them and sol had to run out in haste before he catches her but SJ stops him. 🤪 funny.

SJ ends up in the study room next to Sol. He’s not really there to study. His grades are level 8. Per sol, it’s lower than the floor 🤪 lol. He needs level 5 and she’s supposed to help him but she can’t even remember the quadratic formula. Me too lol.

On the way home, TS is waiting for her. SJ tried to stop him. He can only try to act cool and not too clingy 😅
At the playground, 🛝 TS tried to say sorry for using Sol. They fought over the teddy bear. 🧸 when the recording played, sol admitted that “the biggest villain of my life is me in the past”. So true haha

TS riding his bike with the big teddy behind him is so cute until he almost ran over a kid on the road. What??? 😤 is TS ok?

Sol’s mom is going on vaca with the guy friend. Instead of giving her a hard time like in the past, she was happy for her.

The taxi driver calls the house of Sol and grandma answers. She’s gonna give him their address. Nohhhhh!

Back at the study hall, sol finds SJ napping. She looks at him endearingly. SJ wakes up and find sol napping. He looks at her endearingly and he reaches to touch her hair when Sol wakes up to see his face and his confession on her mp3. What perfect timing 😍. She gets up and walk out. SJ doesn’t know that she knows he likes her because it was recorded 😅

At the rally, so have heart fluttering moments when SJ sipped on the drink that Sol bought. Then he takes both drinks and puts them on her cheeks – looks cute ☺️

Sol’s bff is so funny. She falls for Sol’s brother and then finds out has a GF. Oh noooo 😳

TS ends up in the hospital. Poor thing. The teddy bear is all grungy. He’s also watching the game. He sees SJ and Sol at the rally together. He kicks his friend out of the room and sees Sol’s mom. What??? She’s sick??

Back at the rally. the people celebrate another gold win for SK. As confetti falls, SJ grabs Sol’s hand and takes her where it’s quiet.

SJ tells Sol that he used to hate the rain until the day he met her on a rainy day. From then on, he’s never hated rain again. ☔️ awww

He was able to confess and Sol was speechless. Then they got interrupted by a call from TS. Then they headed to the hospital before her mom went into surgery.

Sol is grateful to TS for informing them about her mom. The guy is actually her mom’s doctor 🙄. Sol encourages TS about his future and lets him know she’s praying for him. That’s sweet.

Finally Sol told SJ that she can’t reciprocate his feelings 😭. She thinks she has mislead him coz she’s always with him. She doesn’t know he liked her before Sol v2 took over.

The day of the accident. Sol tried to stay at home all day. SJ messages her to meet in the playground. She rejected but SK didn’t see her reply. It’s raining. ☔️ she think of SJ waiting for her in the rain. She goes out. Grabs the umbrella. Then her memory is triggered. She realizes that SJ liked her from the beginning not because of what she’s been doing. She ran to the playground. I have a bad feeling.

Sol stops in the middle of the road and the taxi cab is in front of her.

SJ leaves the playground and passes the taxi. He turns back. He also has a bad feeling. Then he sees the yellow umbrella. He knows whose it is. He grabs it and turns back looking perplexed.

Talking about BWS make up team and his height, he bends down for his makeup artist (may be the one who heads the team) to fix him mid-scene. She’s really short compared to him and he bends almost 60 degrees or from the knees to make things easier for her. She must have a terrible neck pain in spite of his efforts or have to hire someone to move around an apple box or two behind her 😂

The whole idea of SJ having any “composure or patience” was a farce. He’s very impatient and not an iota of “composure” when it comes to IS. BUT, he’s good at hiding his feelings @hana… Pretty much the same with us 😋

Also, he’s been playing a 19 year old so far. Though that being far from his real age, I can’t really view him in that light no matter how scantily clothed he is ep 1-6. But thankfully, that’s about to change! Can’t wait for ep 7 to see a healthy, energetic and gorgeous Sun Jae.

I don’t think BWS will ever have a “I won’t remove my shirt/other clothing” in his contract similar to KSH no matter the stature he achieves. I’m sure KSH can have this clause at any moment. But I think he likes to demonstrate the work he puts into having a showcase-worthy body. Same is with BWS I feel. He’s VERY comfortable in VERY minimal clothing.

Once I “met” a very popular actor. I used to work in a large private hospital at the time and was in charge of the area he was admitted in. Needless to say, he spent his in patient days shouting at me about various complaints he had 🙄

Another incident I had was with a popular sports personality. The flight I was taking was delayed waiting for him. I started complaining to my fellow co-traveller lady who was also waiting with a small child to board. I kept going on and on about partial treatment based on whether one is famous or not till she gently told me that she was HIS WIFE. “But I agree with you.” She said with a smile. MY GOD was I mortified. The guy represents the country 😶‍🌫️

His wife was so cool about my rant and we actually became somewhat of an acquaintances later on. Now, I root for him in games simply because he’s husband to a very cool woman.

So this drama is based on a webnovel “Tomorrow’s Best” which was also adapted to a webtoon.

The webtoon has only 1/3 seasons as I have mentioned previously and we’re already past that point. But the webnovel is complete.

And according to the webnovel (pls remember that the drama is a stand alone not bound to follow the webnovel), Sun Jae is sulking ❤️ No reverse amnesia. He never forgets her for a single moment. But he doesn’t fall into despair because she already rejected him many years previously and she doesn’t suffer any lasting damage due to his timely intervention at the time of abduction. But miffed he is, so he pretends not to know her.

It’ll be very cute for sure @Fern.

I haven’t read the webnovel because it’s only available in Korean. However, in the webtoon, there is a very sinister character to whom the watch actually belongs. He asks for it back at the end of S1.
Here, that could be the cab driver. Given how he is obsessed with IS, he could attack SJ in the future / maybe the doorbell?

In the opening scene, he’s asking her, “Are you really from the future?” Seriously.

I’m getting “The Lake House” vibes from Im Sol in preview ep 7 when she says, “Don’t come Sun Jae – ya”. Maybe she tells him to wait for her. And he’s just sulking around till she gets to him. But he’s healthy and present enough to sulk.

There is a beautiful clip in The Lake House where Sandara Bullock begs Keenu Reeves to not look for her, not wait for her, not remember her…

Similar to Im Sol here, she keeps saying “Don’t come”, “Don’t come” because just like Sol, Sandra’s character has said come and meet me at X time at Y place.

It’s a time leap movie too. Predictably, something terrible befalls him on his way – Sandra discovers only belatedly because they are separated in time.

She asks him to just trust her and HER love for him instead of proactively seeking her out. She asks him to wait – a concept kdramas love. It’s a reallllllly old movie but my favourite along with The Holiday.

I’d say what The Holiday first if you haven’t as yet @Fern. I’m the official unpaid promoter of that movie.😉

I was enjoying the first 24 minutes of the show. LOL!

SJ’s imagination running wild was funny. Oh my gosh! The ‘Tae Sung-a, let’s stay together forever!’ I died! LOL!

I thought it was a sweet episode with SJ trying to be cool and in the end just saying it out honestly that he likes IS. 🙂

I didn’t mind that IS said no. It was for the best and she is a time traveller. It was a good call.

I’m looking forward to next week, let’s have an adult SJ and IS to bring the love story further. 🙂

Usually I’m running around with some permutation and combination of children of close family/friends + grown adults who are like children (example my sister, my husband etc) I am the one drawing baths and making milk tea (I didn’t know Brits drew comfort from milk tea ??).

Oh dear, how romantic. Both options are very enticing. That of the time capsule and that of bath drawn for IS. There is no risk of any further action in case of latter because knowing Sol, she’d most likely fall asleep in the bathtub itself.

I am not sure if it is a bad thing or a good thing to get banished to Shallow island or if I would want to go there voluntarily? I gather it has something to do with raving about an actor. One of my first comments here a few mmonths ago was to refer to h** weather in a drama and my comment was sent to limbo. So was an early comment about br******.

My encounter with a celebrity actor was in Yorkville an area of Toronto where the rich and famous hang out. I was intently walking to work or to an appointment and walked right into Brian Dennehy although I did not know who he was, just that he looked awfully familiar. I literally walked into him-he is built like a brick, as the expression goes.

My other encounter was sitting behind Julie Andrews at a Shakespeare play starring Christoher Plummer many many years after The Sound of Music.

My mother’s claim to fame is that she went to high school with both Christopher Plummer and William Shatner.

I imagine we all have a few such juicy tidbits.

Now, @MM, our queen doesn’t approve of comments on ONLY physical appearance of actors. However, now and then one may appreciate the biology of a hidden smile, for example. But I’d proceed with cryptic caution 😉😉

We analysed the H*LL out of TKEM as most of us would remember. The drama didn’t work out for me in the end but LMH looked like one fine man in there. The drama spent 85% of its time over it. So we came up with shallow island 🏝️ LMH is also somewhat what we call “an actor in learning”. We came up with this term for CEW in True Beauty.

An actor in learning is someone who’s trying hard but not quite there in terms of emoting on screen as yet. We have no such issues here as both leads plus the supporting actors emote wonderfully well.

LvR has a ton in terms of plot, an extremely capable female lead and a male lead who acts very well in addition to being physically attractive. So it’s more a bridge drama as @GB says. We probably wouldn’t watch it ONLY for BWS appearance you know.

Why Ryu Sun Jae Makes a Great Drama Boyfriend
He makes tremendous efforts to protect IS, when he gets wind of her being in danger. He even let her sleep on his arm when in such an awkward position in the video rental shop,… and they weren’t even friends yet.
He can be creative in hiding/protecting IS, such as when she’s almost seen by her mother and caught by her brother.
He’s not full of himself, even when she appears to like him, ie he’s not arrogant about being liked (like Tae Sung).
He respects her and her choices even when he does not agree with her decisions.
He does not take advantage of her when she’s drunk and silly.
He’s honest.
He’s prepared to be punished in her stead. (The necktie incident)
He’s perceptive enough to figure that she had some trauma and that she had an accident before.
He’s sad/disappointed that she did not notice or remember him, but never gets angry with IS.
He’s gentle, long-suffering and self-sacrificing with IS.
As far as we can tell, he has many friends who are girls, but he’s been faithful to IS who in 2023, never knew that she was his first love.

Why Ryu Sun Jae is a Great Drama Person
He does not mope endlessly about losing his swimming career or feel sorry for himself, but gets over it and looks for other alternatives.
He comes to sing at short notice to help his friend.
He’s not good in his studies but he is smart enough to excel in other areas such as in physical education and singing.
He could have beaten Tae Sung at every physical challenge but held back, unless he was forced to prove himself.
He excels in singing, acting and in being popular but remains humble.
He helps his dad and makes a pretty decent son, not wanting to worry his father.

I don’t like the “bad to everyone else but good to FL” troupe in dramas because psychologically, it’s impossible. A person unkind to everyone else WILL be unkind to you even if he/she is romantically involved with you.

But that’s not true with Uri Sun Jae.

Two instances

1) He helps out the girl in wheelchair irrespective of whether he knows her.
2) He asks Sol to spit out the too hot dumpling onto his hand. 34 YO Sol realises then that he is serious when he says he likes her a lot.

We come to know WHY original timeline Sun Jae is guilty 😨😨 Usually in Kdrama reason of guilt is not convincing. For example. An 8 year old thinking he should have prevented an accident, a 6 year old thinking it’s because he asked for a car ride, etc… but HERE the reason is genuine!!

It IS sort of his not exactly fault but well, he could have avoided the situation. And he loved her. Even then.

I was right @GB, @Fern, @Cleo and others. He doesn’t feel guilty because he saved her with a disability. He feels guilty because in a way, he contributed to WHY it happened.

Last point, if one considers that SJ had a part to play, Sol had a part to play in her situation as well. A 34 year old Sol will understand this.

Oh, this is what happened in the original timeline. I’m glad we finally got this backstory.

We are entering conjecture here, since there are too many variables and we cannot predict what each individual might have done.

I guess we have the paradox of time travel here. If IS had not time jumped to 2008, would she have really ended up losing the use of her legs? Putting it another way, IS’s changing of the past has given her 15 years being uncrippled. Then SJ would not have had a reason to called her from the Radio Station in 2023. (But we don’t know if he might still have called her for a different reason).

IS from 2008 might have fan-girled Tae Sung, but we see that she forgets him ultimately and never followed up on whether he finished school or not. However, this does not mean that she’d have noticed SJ or become his fan either. Without needing SJ’s words of hope on the radio, would IS have ever bothered about the band, Eclipse or SJ? We do not know. Would it have been a 50-50 chance that they might still have met in 2008-2009 and have decided to fall in love? Possibly.

But IS did time jump and interfere in SJ’s life. Because T2 and T3 IS became a significant person to SJ, he declared his love for her, and she became aware of it. As an adult, she has the opportunity to follow-up on this and make a go of it, assuming SJ is also willing, but we do not know the variables. So I’m assuming that their falling in love also has a 50-50 chance.

Once T3 IS returns to 2023, T1 IS will be at a loss over the many weeks that have passed, she might never become SJ’s fan girl. So yes, 2023 should have been changed.

If T3 IS returns to 2023 with the photos, is able to walk, and retains her memories of her past as well as of her time jumps, she’ll remember loving Eclipse and fangirling SJ. So, then she can choose to look up SJ in 2023. She can choose to be a fan of SJ and Eclipse again, but it’s true, her room may not have the paraphernalia of a fan anymore.

However, what needs to happen in order for 2023 to make sense and not be chaotic for IS, is that after making so many changes, T1 and T3 Im Sol should have merged into 1 person with merged memories.

IS’s family and friends in 2023 will suddenly find themselves dealing with a ‘new’ IS who carries with her the knowledge of all that happened in old 2023, all that could have happened since 2008, and all that has changed.

Thanks @Arihsi for the before and after logic. So it seems that in her time jumps she first saved her mum, next she saves herself, and finally she’ll hope to save SJ. 🙂

The problem is, the place and context of the disaster changes. Her abduction doesn’t take place in the same way as before. The context and place changed, although the date didn’t. The time of occurrence also changed within roughly the same date frame.

She’ll have to figure out HOW SJ will die in that timeline in order to stop it in addition to reinstating what was lost between him and herself.

Thank you @Fern and @GB for the appreciation… I forgot one more important event that occurs in T0, T1 and T2.

Sun Jae refusing to do a movie under a certain director park.

In T0, ep 1, we meet an obviously exhausted SJ getting told off by his CEO/manager before his concert, “you refused to do the movie with director Park ?” The CEO asks. “I promise I’ll give you a break after this.”.

We believe the same thing happened in T1 because in ep 4, SJ still dies in the same way without intervention and IS is still in wheelchair.

IS then goes back into to T2.

Now post T2, preview ep 7, Sol is being told off by her boss (will it be the same Director Park 😂 ? I bet) that SJ is refusing to do the movie and it’s her job to fix it. SJ must be cast any how.

Oh, good catch, @Arihsi! I wonder if it’s Director Park that Sun Jae dislikes or his/her assistant? 😅

Good point, @Janey. So even if T0 IS’s radar didn’t pick up Sun Jae before, once he joined the band in T0 she would have noticed him at least as a band mate of TS.

I think we will get more information about TS’s path later.
