Hwayugi: Yellow Umbrellas

Yellow Umbrellas.

This scene from Hwayugi was cute but…

I’m tired of yellow umbrellas. If I were to believe in kdramas, the only choice of color for umbrellas for girls in love is yellow.  Where’s the diversity?? I want a clear umbrella so I can see where I’m going.

See these?

I get it already. A yellow umbrella means to be showered with love from unexpected moments and surprising places. The heroine may encounter the Love of her Life by accident. Or by appointed destiny, like YoonYi in Hwayugi with her immortal trickster perched from high above, watching and protecting her.

Being a bitch however, I would find it hysterical if that Special Someone arrived with a strong blast of wind.

The yellow ones still outnumber this see thru one!

  3. well… it’s about time the drama writers start listening to this bitch!

Aaaah. I see now why directors don’t use these clear umbrellas. They don’t stand out as much as the yellow one.

In Pinocchio, the two leads bucked the trend and ditched those umbrellas. They used those orange traffic cones to shield themselves from the rain.
