Why he’s a perfect Kdrama Boyfriend:

1. She becomes a better person with him around. She’s a sassy girl. Teaching by example, he guides her to temper her exuberance with good sense.

For instance, her drinking. She drinks to forget but she becomes a loud and obnoxious drunk. Here in this scene, he teaches her to drink up to three cups. You see, without her being aware of it, he’s been keeping tabs of her limit. But instead of banning her outright from drinking, he trusts her to drink responsibly. She isn’t some silly twit who needs a babysitter to mind her alcoholic intake.

2. He promises to himself to always walk alongside her…even when she can’t see him anywhere near.

They always walked home together because he tried to make it a routine to escort her home to the palace after her hospital work. But he’s leaving her. So here, he practices walking side-by-side, parallel to each other. She won’t ever know that he’ll always be there for her, watching her from a distance. Sure enough, she can sense him but she can’t find him.

3. He knows her tastes in clothes and shoes (my Kryptonite!) because he observes her quietly.  But getting her flowers in the middle of  winter was priceless.

4. He takes her side when the whole world, even her father the King, is opposed her. Her mission was to find out what happened to her deposed mother, the Queen, and he risked his life and career to help her be reunited with her mother.

Physically carrying her on his back is nothing compared to bearing the weight of her problems on his shoulders.

5. He disarms her. He’s the only one who can humor her with his own funny comebacks. As sassy bitches ourselves, we can identify with her. He doesn’t get intimidated by her elevated status as the Royal Princess of the land.

6. Above all, he’s the best kdrama boyfriend because he is incorruptible. Mutual respect is needed in a lasting relationship. He respects her choices and, in turn, he is someone whose good opinion and life decisions SHE can respect and admire. He’s the perfect son, brother, scholar and diplomat that girls crush on. He distinguishes between right and wrong. He defends the good, and neutralizes the wicked…

And he does all these with style.
