  1. Hi here

  2. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @WE!

Arrest time and unfortunately Seo Beom is the one who gets caught.

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, you’re on the WRONG THREAD!!! come to 21 Feb thread!!!

  4. Ok, I am going to put my votes on shows here — since I havent watched many, my votes are based on whether the writers have written things I have watched, and on directors and actors.

From the list: there are 3 HongSisters’ shows

    Alchemy of Souls — 0;
I have rewatched it to death, do not feel like i would get more out of a party. —

    Can This Love Be Translated — 0;
a solid HS hit, but I just saw it.

    Big (2012, body swap with gong yoo based on the 1980s movie withTom Hanks, but much much better) — 2;
well. obviously, I suggested it. My reason was this, when I watched it I felt as if there were continual references going on above my head. I didnt watch much tv in the 80s and 90s, so I thought it might be refs to USA in that period. The lighting made me think of sit-coms.
And for everyone else it was very very funny, and the issue of a teenager inside a man’s body is much more discreetly handled than in the US movie. Bae Suzy is an amazing floppy US teenager on the loose, there is a twin issue, and Lee Min Young was great.

  5. My Love From the Star – 1;
I havent seen it, but Park Ji Eun (writer) did Queen of Tears (Which I loved), and Crash Landing on You so it could bear a close watch. The directors are prolific — Og Chiing Hwan did Hotel Del Luna and will do Grand Galaxy for the HS, Castaway Diva (loved it), and Start-Up. Jang Tae Yoo is a less interesting director for me, altho MM and I are plowing through Tree with deep Roots while we talk about Hangul and politics.

    Durian’s Affair — 1;
I havent seen it, it isnt a comedy? it sounds cool but it is only available on Kocowa — does everyone have it?

Tunnel — 0; it isnt available to me to watch.

  6. From Now On Showtime — 2;
This is now my favorite choice bec I just started watching it again, and realized I had forgotten the shaman angle (kim Won Hae again!).
The writer, Ha Yoon Ah, has done two other shows — Dynamite Kiss which always made me laugh in every episode, and Mystic Pop-up Bar which I also loved. The directors — Lee Hyung Min did Miss Night and Day and also Strong Girl Bong Soon; Jung Sang Hee, who is young, just did In Your Radiant Season which I hunger to see but its on Disney+.

    Pinocchio — 1;
sounds good, havent seen it, the writer is the same as RWotS.

  7. Much of this list is time-travel stories:
Chicago Typewriter — 0; also not available for me to watch, although otherwise its a 2.

Faith; the Great Doctor — 1; havent seen it but rec’d by a friend.

    ….

Page Turner — 1; a short series with Kim So Hyun as a pianist faced with blindness. Sounds great but not cheerful. Its on Kocowa.

  8. Missing: the Other Side Season 1 — 0; its not available.
Missing the Other Side, season 2 — 1; nice ghost stories, but almost too episodic for a party? Dont we need an overall plot? or not.

Cheat on me if you can — 1; havent seen it and dont know the writer/directors or actors. Is it funny?

Iris –1; I think I havent seen it, altho there is one spy drama that starts with one of those awful swoop and grab kisses which I immediately turned off.. is that this one? I do love western spy shows but so far only funny spies have been enjoyable in kdrama (Man to Man!), although movies are another matter.

  9. Jang Ok Jung — 2;
Just because it is the only sageuk on the list, I am constantly only part way through it, anything with Lee Sang Yeob and Sung DongIl is cool and the role seems to suit the heavy aura of Yoo Ah In.
the writer, choi Jung Mi has suddenly sprung to life with two shows in the works. The director, Boo Sung Chul, did My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and Youre Beautiful, 2 of my favorites.

  10. For the completed watch parties it feels like a contrafactual — had I been there I would have given this a vote but I wasnt and so…

I did watch Signal in prep for signal 2 — 2; great show.

While You Were Sleeping was a great party — 2

I didnt attend the party for 365, nor for Kairos. Wish I had for for I Hear Your Voice.

    Imaginary Cat is 1-2;

  11. Hi IF, you confuse writers.
    – RWoTS writer is Yoon Hyun Ho (Lawless Lawyer, Military Prosecutor Doberman), while Pinocchio is Park Hye Ryun (I Hear Your Voice, While you were sleeping and… Page Turner!). Then it’s why Page Turner is rather good, I remember a scene that make cry into it.
    – Cheat on me if you can is indeed very funny, but not slapstick, rather irony, black humour, situational comedy.
    – Yep, writer of Mystic Pop Bar did From now on showtime after. In my opinion, From now on is better than Mystic pop bar. Can be writing or main actors, adding lot of subtle expressions (too much for all of that being in the script). There is only two dramas with at least a scene that made me laugh out loud without I could stop laughing (I mean, with tears, and guts in pain), this one and Ms. Temper & Nam Jung Gi.

Here I post an AI cat video I made recently:
    https://x.com/EnchanteurW/status/2028024349609861523

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Heh @WE, nice cat.

Showtime made you laugh until you cried?

OK @IB, I’ll put your votes into the Worksheet. 😁🤨🤩😇

  13. @GB, I can’t spoil for people who didn’t watch yet. I say you the scene in MP on MDL. 😉

  14. Thanks @WE

  15. Gorgeous cat, the green grass shows off her colors.

Here is a weird thought about AI and dramas, sparked by a BBC article on one-minute dramas becoming lucrative in SK.

Now that AI can be used for economic reasons to replace grandiose, showy special scenes — cars, mansions, explosions — will the audience lose interest in such common things?

So maybe framing and structure will be trending? Thinking about the corridor scenes in RWotS. Making a virtue of necessity. The limitations of the given/chosen material/medium sparking creativity. The very backbone of much great art.

  16. I have tried hard to come up with another suggestion which vibes with the group’s penchant for time travel, dark but not too dark stories… but most are on my to-see list
    how about —
Life on Mars? The director is genius — Lee Jeong Hyo. The writer, Lee Dae Il, did Good Boy and Chief of Staff (neither of which have I seen).

Healer? I have seen that, several times, its funny and serious, and beautifully shot.

After that I veer totally off-track, because I think of a show which, in my opinion, is (dark comedy) funny, visually amazing in its use of color, and just plain genius classic. But no one will agree. Mr. Plankton. He dies.

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi All, we have been adding on more shows to our list of Shows to Rewatch.

The Rewatch Vote for now is still at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WOCpYB4FWdo8bnTBOGWNEhEaSRsD1AjC/view?usp=sharing

Please let us know your votes or if you’re changing any votes.

@WE you have not voted for anything new yet.

  18. For a moment I thought I missed the rewatch because there are so many comments.

    My rewatch vote:
    Tunnel: 1
    Iris: 2
    Missing Season 1 & 2: 2
    Pinocchio: 3

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF, yes, we’ve been busy on this thread. 🙂

The voting points are either 1 or 2 only. So for Pinocchio I’ll put you down with 2 points.

  20. Hiu, Im here @FF, @GB.

  21. Hi @GB, I put 3 just to emphasize that it is my first choice…. lol

  22. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @IB, @FF… let’s start NOW!!!

  23. The Blue-Green color in DongHo’s office — soon he will be in jail.

  24. Hello here

  25. Hi @IB, let’s start.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes I like that show too.

So we’re in the thick of remembering that Park’s pseudo father has been stabbed. It’s bad news for Park in more than 1 way now.

  27. Hi @WE. Again, the police are arresting unrelated person as murder suspects.

  28. @GB, yeah yeah, I’ll complete soon the worsheet with my various 2 and 1. 😉

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @WE!

You haven’t voted for the next show yet. The list has grown longer.

  30. Fabricated proof to put Dong-Ho in prison.
Well, this episode start with an injustice. As usual. 😀

  31. @GB
There’s JinWoo in the somber coat; the turtleneck is teal, I think, but the coat is loden — it goes bluish bec of the light…we are in sad regions.

    DongHo is arrested in red…why?

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I think this is the episode that I like more or most. The changes take place once Park DH is arrested. JW has to make a touch decision and I like his choice.

Also things look up in court.

    However …

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, I don’t feel that this show goes for intentional colour grading with significance.

Lots of greeny bluey teal but I don’t think they mean much.

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

It’s strange that NGM does not know that his father is behind the stabbing and framing of Park DH. He gets a warning from DH that even though he’s the son, he could be in line to be removed since he’s not really useful and more a troublemaker.

  35. No one is agree to help Dong-Ho.
But maybe Jin-Woo will make that decision..

  36. Old chairman Nam is so twisted, he will protect his son regardless of his crimes. Does he not realise that he is not helping the son, he just condoning his crimes there is no remorse no repent. He has totally failed as a father.

  37. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Now NGM’s trial is facing hiccups since more than 1 victim will testify. Moo Suk is going to have a tough time.

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, the problem with old man Nam is that he only thinks of being lord of the corporation and treats his children disrespectfully. It’s a wonder to me that his daughter turned out okay.

  39. SLAP! Father slaps his daughter. Crying.

Gyu man goes to do antic facing Dong-Ho.

Who spoils us that father could just drop Guy Man.

  40. We wish for a kdrama reconciliation betw. JW and DH. But JW still considers DH as the proximate cause of his dad’s death.

Then…the enemy of my enemy..the ultimate cause of all Jw’s misfortunes is Nam IlHo.

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

As usual it’s the team of JW who do all the hard work of locating witnesses and keeping them hidden. We hear that a new victim-witness may be found and called to testify, since we hear a new name: Min Hee.

  42. Yet another corrupt prosecutor, go KwangIl. Fresh meat.

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @IB, things will change.

We even get a ‘date’ scene with JW and In Ah. So rare and few. So this is one of my fave episodes in the whole 20!

  44. What a risky move for In Ah to invite Ha Young to stay with her.

  45. Gyu Man proposes murder to the new prosecutor, who does not flinch. Always a fresh supply of conscienceless b*****ds.

  46. Gwak is now a devot Christian. 😂

  47. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Gwak is quite funny. It’s good that he turned.

  48. Yet another delightful meetup between Seo Beom and SangHo, an employee camaraderie. Drinking soda this time. Seo Beom unburdens himself under the cover of a jke…

  49. @GB, FINALY! A nice date scene.
I hope there won’t be a memory loss here.
But they just speak about trials..

  50. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@E precisely, hence it does not count as a real date, just a change in scenery but the focus was on work!!!

Now JW has made his decision. He visits Park DH.

  51. Soo Boem cannot help leaking information of his betrayal yet at the same he tries to hide it.

This NGM still has to cheek to call himself Oppa after violating the girl.

  52. @GB
Really, no color work/symbolism? (grading is something else isnt it) After DongHo’s memories are all in the blue-green shadows too?

  53. So this drama does not have a kiss scene?

  54. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I really don’t recall any kisses in this drama. Romance was never the focus. Just corruption and how to defeat bit of it.

  55. Guy Man terrorizing the young woman.
I enjoy a lot any scene with this bastard.
A good vilain really makes the story, as Hitchock said.

  56. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, generally it’s just somber colours except for Park’s outfits.

Another corridor chat between Prosecutors. The lady is not fazed.

  57. @FF, I don’t remember a kiss scene. Mmmh.
So, I’m curious again if there is one.

  58. In the flower shop, tlkaing to MinHee, GyuMan/NM ranges perfectly from loud to soft, from threat to pay-off, punctuated by the classic shock yells (Yah! I am in control!) to his trademark quiet menace.

Even unbuttoning his coat is frightening, let alone that nasty touch of her hair/invasion of her personal space.

    She cries. Humiliation, anger, fear.

  59. @IF, yes, so good scene.

  60. I have been so traumatized by this drama that I think that piece of evidence handed over to JW will get stolen and destroyed.

  61. @FF, me too!
I admire the accumulated destabilization of the viewers’ ability to trust.
Somehow perfect coordination between script and cliffhanger/climax structures with music etc.

  62. Little trick from director (or writer, damn, sorry I didn’t have time to translate episode >13, I’ll have to do it when I can), but the little time before the girl answer. She says “Ha Young”… silence in the trial… (suspens) then says the truth.
Later a flashback explaining why she changed her mind.

  63. I find the police procedural work relaxing. Corruption does not reach so far. The drama leaves more hope for justice than some others do. It has to because it is not a vigilante plot.

  64. Before we go, does anyone have an explanation for the phrase raggedy b*****ds? What color does the actual korean have, or is that the actual words?

  65. @IF, RWotS is as realistic as it can to show the horror of this world while keeping a small part of hope and victory, but compared to real world, this victory wouldn’t even exist, or after decades and major dramatic events. The writer really show how it’s desesperate for population to get justice when the whole system is corrupted.

  66. @IB, the writer of this drama simply paints the police work as sloppy.

  67. JW’s bad memory must act up at the most critical moment! This drama is killing me.

  68. @IF, so, yes, a police procedural is relaxing but also all fake. Just you follow a team of “experts” about a complicated crime, but it doesn’t exist, when a foreigner just killed someone with a knife, and police doesn’t even investigate, or if they arrest him, then the corrupt judge just free this guy so he can do it again. It’s the justice in my country now. Worst of tyranny.

  69. AHHHH shiT! Jin Woo memory loss hits at the worst time. I just hate that so much, but I still love the writer to do so insane dramatic moments.

  70. @WE, sticking with the discussion of fiction, the police procedural is for those of us who hunger for justice, all the more so when reality seems not to correspond.

I always hope in my heart that my favorite Turkish or Russian detective series might show the hearts of those in the lower echelons of the justice world even if they live in the insanity of this real world.

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yeah tough ending for the log-suffering good guy. One of the things that show does to ‘kill’ its viewers.

  72. This cliffhanger was the hardest for me so far. I cant even remember how they escape from this one!

  73. We need a happy drama for the next rewatch.

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, hence we rush to watch the next episode! LOL.

It was the murder weapon that set off JW’s memory loss.

  75. @FF, with you on that one!

  76. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes we need a much happier show … Hence we will be rewatching Imaginary Cat.

  77. I will see you all on 28 March because I will be traveling the 14 March weekend. Have a great weekend!

  78. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye @FF! Have a nice holiday!

  79. @GB, yes that was such an important event (Judge Jang handing over the bloodied knife-bottle opener) to the defense for the retrial, that it seems to have derailed JW at a similiar phrase when it comes up in the present trial.

When does it occur in the episode, about twenty minutes before — just long enough for the viewers to have to pause to think back.

  80. Happy travels @FF!

  81. ‘insanely dramatic’ — the writer stretches as far as possible without destroying the tissue of credibility. It isnt quite bravura. But it is bravery, or better, audacity.

It is, what?, a melodrama trembling at the edge of a legal-political thriller wistfully watching romance go down the drain in the face of an incurable disease, held together by those violins.

  82. @IF, often police procedurals are about proofs, not easy to find. But in reality, doesn’t even need to hide so much. Just corruption, kill the people saying or investigating too much, as the whole system want to bury the proof. In my country, 4 policemen investigated the place where Esptein lived, some years ago. The 4 men were killed (or “suicided”). Of course none of any people of the current governement want to open the case again. The level of evil and corruption in reality surpass any villainess from a work of fiction. Even if we try, we could not even tell something that bad and dark. Even the darkest stories of fiction are quite a miss. So, I understand your point of view, and a story of Sherlock Holmes provides a bit of evasion, while keeping a sens of justice.

  83. @FF, bye bye, see you soon.

  84. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye everyone! Remember to put in more votes since there are more shows added to the list.

  85. I wrote the votes.
Bye everyone, see you next week.

  86. @WE, yes evasion isnt a bad way to put it.

    Have a good week, @GB and @WE!
    Bye now.

  87. @GB choices

pls give me points for Signal 2(I will be so disappointed if it never airs)

I did finish the 365 and Kairos rewatches but not the last 2.

Thank you So much for keeping track of all of this.

  88. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, you’re very welcome and okay I’ll put 2 points down for Signal 2 under your name. 🙂

I’ll also be very disappointed about Signal 2 if it does not air. The shows we watched in between were supposed to take us into this year and up to the time Signal 2 came out, but with the so-called ‘scandal’, I do not know if it will.
