Heath Ledger….
“10 things I Hate about you” when Shakespeare’s adapted into teenflick movie..
Yes, adaptation of “Taming of the Shrew” just like the film “Clueless” was loosely based on Jane Austen’s “Emma.”
When Heath Ledger sang “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You,” he raised the bar for prom-asking for high school boys. Prom asking isn’t normally a song-and-dance event but it’s become more creative nowadays.
Here’s Heath Ledger singing that darn song:

That scene’s one of the best from the movie.. and that part when Julia Stiles recite the poem..
Prom is not a thing here where I live. So I can only read and watch about prom, but never experience it. But I can see why Heath’s “can’t take my eyes off of you” is really set new bar. What is it they call it? Promposal? CMIIW 😅
Yes, promposal.
Homecoming happens in the fall, towards the beginning of the school year, during the football season. And prom occurs in the spring, towards the end of the school year, near graduation. Homecoming is for everybody, proms are for the seniors and their dates.
Asking out for homecoming can be as elaborately staged. But from what I understand, the guy must speak with the friends of the girl beforehand to ascertain a “yes” from the girl. This way, a very public rejection/humiliation can be averted. 😀 lol. The boys are risk-averse, too, you know.
