The moral lesson of this Episode 13 is life is unfair.
And that’s why my boyfriend-o-meter is pointing towards, “No shit!” meaning “No shit, Sherlock! We already knew that.”
The MinHo people knew since Episode 12 that life is unfair. When the writer and director decided to intervene (ha! I’m going to keep on bashing them for that stupid motorcycle accident) and gave Ye an UNFAIR advantage over MinHo, we knew that the decks were stacked against MinHo and that Ye was the favorite winner of this show’s romance history. It wasn’t fair.
No shit. We knew that.
The unfairness continued in Episode 13. MinHo couldn’t catch any lucky break and he couldn’t get ahead of the game.
It became crystal clear to me in this episode that MinHo’s biggest rival for BoYoung was NOT Ye. Instead, it was the writer-and-director duo. Minho might have been unaware that he needed to fight Ye for BoYoung’s affection. But Dr. Ye is nothing when compared to the writer and director tandem whose goal was to thwart every attempt Minho made to confess his feelings and ascertain BoYoung’s feelings. lol. MinHo couldn’t fight against these two when they CREATED him themselves to be a sorry and pathetic character.
Alas, MinHo! It’s a lose-lose proposition for you. You can’t win in this story. /sarc
Let me list the missed opportunities he had:
- the buffet dinner. MinHo postponed his proposal.
- the Magic Boots dinner invitation (why didn’t Boyoung invite him to go out with her? that would have been the perfect time for the two to catch up on each other. Also, noticed how BoYoung was so excited and appreciative that Ye bought the tickets. She said, “How did you remember something that I just said in passing? I heard those tickets are really hard to get.” Well, honey-child, MinHo got in that stupid motorcycle accident trying to give you that poetry book, “A Season of Good Rain,” and you didn’t even mention IT in passing. It was the bookseller who said the title. Too bad the writer intervened in the plot progression, didn’t he?)
- the note that Ye left with the Magic Boots tickets. The note said, “This was supposed to be our first show together since we started dating. I’m sorry, I can’t make it. I’ll keep my promise next time. Ye Jae Wook”
- the 10000 (edited) won paper money that Namwon picked up instead of the note
All throughout the show we were bamboozled by life’s unfairness. Beginning with the section chief doctor who got ill, the staff who had no choice but to eat the same hospital food, Dr. Yang who spent money to educate his son who partied instead, MinHo whose buffet dinner proposal got cancelled, NamWon who 1) gave up on his first love, 2) found and lost money in a span of a minute, and 3) had his precious crocodile shirt stolen, and then back again with MinHo.
Furthermore, we have NamWon, acting like the voice of the writer, droning on and on that life is cruel and vicious, and that MinHo and himself couldn’t expect happiness.
No shit, Captain Obvious!
Mark the names of these writers: Myung Soo-hyun, Baek Sun-woo, and Choi Bo-rim;
this series creator: Lee Myung-han
and this director: Han Sang-jae
No shit. Never again.
To common folks, unfair is when bad things happen to a good person despite his/her best efforts. To cry It’s unfair! shows a keenly felt disappointment in life, the fates, or the divine Creator, because whatever you do in life, you’re always going to get cheated by life. It’s like NamWon who has given up struggling because he felt just couldn’t win at anything.
The ONLY person who didn’t have an “unfair” event come to pass was Ye. I don’t consider missing the Magic Boots musical “unfair” because HE made the decision himself to miss it.
But in this kdrama, unfairness takes on a special meaning. Unfair is when this APaD writer and director make one character, MinHo, the butt of all their creative jokes. And the jokes are neither witty nor subtle. I find them tired and unoriginal. For instance, the dinner date? I knew that the writer was going to troll us and NamWon and MinHo would end up dating. The musical tickets? Same. I expected the writer to troll us.
So, if you’re a discerning person, you’d expect all these to be a foreshadowing of MinHo’s lonely future with NamWon.
lol. For a few minutes after the episode, I had hoped that all these “unfairness” would result in a plot twist and would serve as a foreshadowing of Ye’s cruel future instead. I had hoped that HE would have a truckload of unfairness dumped on him in Episode 14, just to get back at the motorcycle of doom that crashed on MinHo…. But to be quite honest, I’m not even liking BoYoung for MinHo anymore. I’m willing to let her go to the “worse” man, Dr. Ye.
You see, apart from the children’s book she gave to MinHo in Episode 11 (and her action was a bit condescending – giving HIM a “choding” book because he didn’t like poetry) she had NOT done anything special for him really. Plus, I find her rather “high-maintenance” with her self-absorption in HER pain and HER sadness. I don’t think she’s even glanced at MinHo’s direction to gauge HIS feelings and reactions, like MinHo does all the time with her. I find her hero-worshiping first of Dr. Ye, and then of the Section Chief director TIRESOME already. For me, if ever she does something “lover-like” to MinHo in the next episode, it’s a case of “Too Little, Too Late.” The bitch in me had badly wanted her to grovel for 4 episodes, and we’re already down to three. lol.
So, yes this is another drama down the drain for me. I’m going to keep on watching it so YOU ladies don’t have to. But don’t expect me to give it glowing reviews anymore…even if the endgame is MinHo-Boyoung.
No shit zone here.
“But to be quite honest, I’m not even liking BoYoung for MinHo anymore” sameeeeeeee here.. the fact that boyoung did nothing for minho for these past few episodes made me realize that she doesn’t deserve minho. And I want minho to stop caring for her already and focus on his career more but I don’t think the writer would choose that. 😡 minho deserves better! Enough said
Thanks you the “awesome” poll. I am indeed indebted to you for I have already given up on this series. Keep on posting though so we can see what the writer and director are going to do with the characters. I agree on that Minho deserves better. Hope they will introduce another character at least to appease us. Ha! Worth noting is that the low ratings for this series. Haha!
The low ratings are because of the Ye actor. He has no pull or star power or oomph. I scanned their presscon, and he looked appealing as a stick.
He had no SWAG. 😂
If this was one of the Reply Series, it would have reached hit daebak level bec of the guessing game. But here people stayed away when they figured, based on order of actors’ names, that the Ye actor was LEAD male.
😂 one episode in dramaland is equal to a dog’s year. 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶 If Minho’s been inactive in BY’s life for 2 episodes, it’s like he’s gone from her side for 14 years. He lost that “connection” he had with her on the beach and on his birthday party.
He still has the book of poetry with him, of course. Should he? Shouldn’t he? Should he? Shouldn’t he Right now, I don’t want him to. If he’s going to use it to get her to stay with him, then I’d rather he didn’t give it to her. I think he should give it to her, when he’s ready to walk away from her. Give it as a PARTING gift so the goodbyes will be final.
But to be quite honest, I’m not even liking BoYoung for MinHo anymore. I’m willing to let her go to the “worse” man, Dr. Ye.

ME TOO!!!
This is a case where I wanna know the ending just to see how MH will end up, but not willing to waste my time and data watching it.
Ditto.
I’m staying on because I don’t want MinHo people to feel lost or displaced. From what I hear, all the other sites are anti-MH. 😀
Besides I always take on the minority view, especially in pro bono cases.
The preview for epi 15.. But nope don’t want to have high hope anymore & yeah this “But to be quite honest, I’m not even liking BoYoung for MinHo anymore. I’m willing to let her go to the “worse” man, Dr. Ye”.
All ye liners hate minho to the max because of today’s epi lol congrats writernim
lol. What happened? He’s the jerk again?
Pile on the hate.
hmmm… I’ll probably have to make you all sign in to comment on this blog in the near future. I don’t want to deal with angry mob of fangirls.
Yes jerk again jealous like before lol but worst. Ugh writernim really hate minho lol
Thats a good idea !
So what’s the preview for Ep 15?
But shouldn’t be the YeLiners be rejoicing if MinHo’s acting like a jerk? Because that means THEIR guy is gonna win the girl because who needs a jerk in her life? 😂
I go to the forums to check translations, etc. But honestly, some fangirls can’t be objective at all. I guess first impressions lasts, seeing how they still see MH as a jerk who deserves what is happening to him, who needs to have bad karma, like they were not watching during the many episodes MH has supported BY and gave her a shoulder to cry on, gave her snacks, took her to the beach, found her fave book and all those small sincere gestures he did. What did Dr. Ye do for BY? Yes he did praise her for being a hardworker, bought her cotton candy, and took her to that poet’s museum(?), but all those were rewards for her doing something to help him. And what has BY do to for MH? Gave him a children’s poem.
The writers started MH’s personality as a petty jerk and now they’re ending him a a loser … who cares what happened in between anyway, right.
Ahhhh! There’s MY Sansukini!! She’s back in fighting form! 😍
See? But is MH really being a loser now when he’s fighting for the girl he loves? Is he really being a jerk if he’s going after her as hard as he can?
Isn’t that what a romantic guy is supposed to do?
The problem with the YeLiners is that everything MinHo does is bad, and everything the JaeWook does is swoon-worthy.
Bo-ho’s relationship is in a totally different level. They can fight each other and be friends again. For instance, in Ep 8 when they had a shouting match. she told him to get lost and let her suffer in pain and rejection.
Well, two episodes later, in Ep 10, it was MinHo picking up the pieces of her broken heart.
He didn’t propose to her that time, bec he respected her healing space. She didn’t have to tell HIM, he knew.
Then on the other hand, there’s Ye who treats her with COLLEGIAL respect and she hero-worships him. If I were to psycho-analyze their conversation, I’d say it’s indicative of a mentor-mentee relationship. That’s how their relationship has morphed into.
For some fangirls, that’s good enough. But for me, when I was THEIR age, I would have considered that kind of relationship stifling and bothersome.
Even when I was young and naive, I looked askance at the “Pygmalion” type of romance (ex. My Fair Lady) because it smacks of paternalism and sexism. I would have rebelled not being on equal footing as my partner. 😜😒
But again if THATS how this writer perceives True Love to be, then there’s nothing I can do about it. I can’t change her/his mind. It’s not my IDEAL and I definitely would not be supporting her/his version of romance in the future.
Exactly this post. I couldn’t agree more!
Huh? What did I say again that you agreed with? I’ve been writing up a storm to “rally” the troops because I know the MinHo shippers are feeling sad. 🙂
with everything really. With the show trolling us, with all the missed opportunities, with the fact that this episode screamed its message “life is unfair” (I’m missing the point with the name of the episode btw, “back home” or something)
But also with all that paragraph that starts with “You see, apart from the children’s book she gave to MinHo”. I agree with every word
ahhh…okay. 🙂
If I were a YeLiner, I would have capitalized on the title and said, that “Going Home,” meant that BoYoung and Ye were “home” for each other. They were going home together or at least to HER HOME, weren’t they?
But if I were a MinHo shipper… wait, let me post this outside, okay? Because I’m sure there are other interpretations. Wait for me. 🙂
I already shared on some other site that to me it lookes like they switched the writer between episode 11 and 12. And that impression is not even based on some deep analysis, but only on my feelings – how different episode 12 felt and how disappointed with it I was.
I haven’t seen ep.14 (and I’m spoilerphobic – no spoilers for me!), but Boo Young’s Thank you and Songsenim in episode 13 annoyed me… and I generally miss Bo Young and Min Ho together, their banter, mutual support and shared moments… hmmm, seems I’m a Min Ho supporter after all 😂
Same here. I told people here that I originally like Dr Ye because MinHo’s “shenanigans” would tire me out. But he’s actually a better match for BoYoung.
Boyoung has become more dreary, melancholic and introspective with Ye by her side. MinHo brings her out of this sad world. Remember when they were going back to Anseong and she was talking about money? MinHo distracted her by popping the window down. 😂
Compare that with Ye and the sad music. All he could get was sad music (I’m hoping that’s foreshadowing) so he turned the radio off.
Then this is the SAD PART: Boyoung copied him and said “Do you want my advice? Don’t try too hard.”
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh!
That killed me.
Because she hero-worships him, she’s copying him. She’s losing her real effervescent, bubbly self and becoming like him. A robot.
And stupid fangirls keep admiring that bloody bore.
and of course, you’re a MinHo supporter. 😈Shallow people go for Ye’s so-called depth because they would have to dig a mile before understanding MinHo’s core. Ye’s easier to figure out.
