After watching Episodes 3 and 4, I’m convinced that The Ghost Detective is not a simply ghost story but an allegory on suicide. I view the Woman in Red as a silent and invisible killer that suicide is. And at the end of Episode 4, we’re seeing a suicide cluster.
Ever since that Hwayugi’s episode on the children’s bookstore owner, I wondered when we would have a kdrama that would focus on a sensitive but really pressing issue.
Although I don’t want a kdrama glorifying suicide, I want one that will, at the least, give viewers an opportunity to discuss a life-and-death topic that’s been treated as a taboo for far too long.
And I believe that The Ghost Detective is doing just that in a subtle and creative manner by projecting the inner conflicts of a suicidal person onto the insidious and malevolent Woman in Red.
If you are struggling, this kdrama and my blog posts on the episodes may not be right for you. Or you may want to watch the show with a trusted and mature friend. Or you may want to ignore anything I write about suicide and watch this simply as a ghost story.

My reviews for Episodes 3 and 4 will come tonight.
