But I don’t blame the viewers if they’re confused. I blame the “Dumb-and-Dumber” duo (aka the writer and director) of this kdrama.
Then, why did she make WonDeuk write the books while she simply read them to him?
1. Because she wanted WonDeuk to earn his keep. HE had to work to earn money and pay off his debt.
2. Because it was faster that she dictated the words while WonDeuk transcribed. They were able to copy all those books in one day to the bookseller’s amazement.
What’s the irony?
As kids, they had to read and learn the classical books like Confucius’ Analects, Mencius, and Elementary Learning. But now, in order to earn money and survive, they must put their classical education and training to practical use by reproducing trashy novels. lol.
Well… another good outcome of this new project of theirs is that the inexperienced Crown Prince was getting his much-needed sex education from these books.
The family that reads together, stays together. The couple that reads together, procreates together. lol
oh, I was wondering about this too.. We were shown she can read & write then why couldn’t she earn money too by copying books? Maybe she was doing stuff during the day that paid more?.. Oh well.
I get the part that it was logical for him to do it since he seemed to be incapable to do anything else. But it looked like it was a job that paid more than whatever he/she were trying to do before.
That’s another plot hole from this writer. Grrrr…
The only reason I could think of for her NOT copying the books herself when she could read and write was that she was trying to hide how educated she was. Her best friend didn’t know how to read and was clueless about Mencius. I also know that in another sageuk, Park Yoochun’s Sangkyungkwan Scandal, the girl pretended to be boys or cross-dressed as a boy in order to copy books from the bookseller.
(wait a second, if the villagers couldn’t read, then why did she put up that shop sign? Nobody could read it, right?? Ugh!! It would have been better if she’d drawn a sketch instead of writing words. )
