I like it when he’s playful with her because one, this is a side he doesn’t often display to others; two, it shows that he knows her inside and out; three, he enjoys making her smile, and four, it’s a good indicator that they can manage their future stresses and conflicts with shared humor and laughter.

1. The last time he teases is in Episode 16 when he “threatens” to call of their wedding. He’s registering his unhappiness and dissatisfaction that they only have a short honeymoon before she leaves for the US.

But look at that: he’s grinning. He knows that she’s trying to sum up the courage to tell him about the change of plans. So he breaks the ice.

WH: Tomorrow’s coming, and you must feel worried about what to do and what not to do.
YJ: No. I’ve been waiting for the day to come with so much anticipation. I wouldn’t (feel worried, she means).
WH: I heard from CEO Han.
YJ: (whoops! she knows now that he’s heard about the schedule change) She worked so hard to try to change it. (defending her Unnie because she knows that he’s unhappy with the news.)
WH: (he nods and pretends to be annoyed) But still, does it make sense to be apart for six months, a week after the wedding? Maybe we should’ve pushed the wedding off.

YJ: (panicking) One week? She said one week? She said two weeks to me. (he’s controlling his laugher here)

YJ: (then she starts to grovel here) WooHyun, I’m sorry.

Look at his face here. Is that normal? I don’t think he’s shown that kind of face to her before? He’s really trying hard to look disappointed here.

WH: I can’t cancel it since it’s the day before. Well, I guess we’ll just have to do it. (lol. he’s pretending that he’s forced to marry her and he’s putting on a sulky face.)

YJ: WooHyun.  (SHE’s feeling sad and guilty. But look at his smile.)

WH: (NOW he changes tactic, lol) I’ll come to you after the chairman gets his surgery.

See that? What a tease! After making her feel anxious, he knows exactly what’ll make her excited again. He’s telling her that it’s okay; everything’s all good even when she has to leave soon because he’ll vist her anyway.

YJ: Really? You can do that?
WH: I’ve been getting busy and have left everything to you too. And I didn’t call. But you were understanding and waited.
YJ: Me too. I’ll come no matter what if I get a break in my schedule, even just to see you briefly.
WH: Six months will pass by fast.
YJ: If we pull one memory out at a time that we’ve collected, the time will go by fast, right? (he nods) I couldn’t even bring it up since I felt so bad. What a relief.
WH: In the future, come tell me first no matter what it is. I am now your closest person.
YJ: Yes.

To me, this is his whole point anyway. He wants to hear the news from her first. Good news or bad news, they can manage either way as long as she confides and trust in him.

Then, at the beach in Episode 9, he remembers that she can’t eat ramyun, and asks her, “Can you eat like that?” then tries to steal it away from her. Her “mean” look is funny.

5. When he tells her that he isn’t going to jog again with her and leaves her behind

He teases her again about it at the beach but of course, we know he’ll do it.

I don’t care if the line is cheesy. He’s giving her extra affection to fight her insecurity and jealousy.

When he teases her and pinches her cheeks affectionately, he’s demonstrating that although he finds her jealousy irrational, he finds HER endearing and adorable. He’s reassuring her that there’s no need for her insecurity.

hahaha. I like it when the nurse caught them in the “act” and YooJung tells him coyly afterwards to continue what he’s doing. See? His teasing works.

8. When she asks him at the beach, “If I weren’t a star and had nothing, would you still have liked me?” he pretends to be stumped by her question

And for a second she’s disappointed.

Then he gives her answer.
