I’ve suddenly developed prosopagnosia! (Thanks 100 Days My Prince for adding this word to my lexicon). I can’t tell the bad investigator from the good investigator. To me, they look very similar and possess no distinctive feature or hair to set them apart. Grrr. It’s hard enough that I can’t remember their names, now I have to remember their faces, too.

My favorite is Hao Mei (Mr Beauty) played by Zheng Yechen. I have to watch a bit of Oriental Odyssey each day to get my fix.
Re facial recognition: I look at the mouth, that’s the most distinctive to me. The very first kdrama I came across was “Maids”. The first time I watched it I could easily tell men from women and that was about it. I kept getting everyone confused (they all looked alike…) After about the fifth time watching my brain could add more and more details in facial features. Now I watch it and go “how could I ever have gotten these people mixed up!” I could tell you what other dramas the characters have been in to. I recognize bother your “bad” guy and “good” guy easily.
Seriously, @pm3 those two look so alike!!!😮😮😮 Even their beards look alike!
In any case, I find lots of characters looking alike in Sageuks, as they mostly have the same hairdo and wear similar clothes..unless they are strikingly handsome, of course 😜😜😜

I couldn’t tell them apart. But a lot of actors I couldn’t tell apart. Take for instance the lead actor Jung Il Woo. He looks like Yoon Shi Yoon (of “Best Hit”) to me. And Roy Kim, the singer.
And don’t even get me started on the idols! I can tell who Yoona, Hyeri, and Yura but the many of the girls are interchangeable to me. Same with BTS and EXO. They look like Barbie dolls from the same Mattel factory; they’d resemble each other if it weren’t for their outrageous hair colors or antics! — Except for Kyungsoo Do, of course. I’d recognize him anywhere now.😍

For me, my seminal moment was Boys Over Flowers. I could only distinguish one guy, the one with the brown hair, that I had to drop the show in frustration. Months later, I took it up again and I could have facepalmed myself. By then, I’d already discovered who this famous Lee MinHo was so I could identify two guys: the brown haired guy and Lee Min Ho and the rest were irrelevant anyway.
But I don’t feel terribly disadvantaged about my “face blindness” as long as I compare it to color vision. I read an article a couple years ago how Homeric epics Iliad and Odysseus never described the sea as blue. The sea was “wine-red” which is odd because if you’ve seen the Aegean Sea, blue would be the first word, you’d associate with it. The writer of this article said that it had something to do with perception, not color blindness. For people during those times, blue was just a SHADE of black and white. Light blue sky is white; and dark blue sea is black. Blue is unlike the colors red and green.
Red and green is easily distinct from white and black because red is the color of blood, danger and survival (you see red seeping out of your body = you’re in pain) and green is the color of food and nature.
But blue? There’s hardly blue fruit or blue animal or blue tree. Recognizing blue called for an evolution of the brain or an awakening of the senses to perceive subtle differences in white and black.
In a way, I see my facial blindness as a sign of my continuing evolution. I’m not THERE yet. I’ve no problems differentiating George Clooney from a piece of stick (although both can’t act, to be quite honest, lol) but I still need work with my Asian actors. lol.
Do you know I’ve always had the same problem with distinguishing these Kpop and Jpop bands – I really don’t get it why some of them are more famous than the others, when they all sound the same to me and looks like they use the same dance moves too! I had the same problem with the old boy bands of the 90s – Boyzone and Westlife, and till date I don’t know which is which if I’m shown a random video of either of them.
I think I too have “selective blindness” – I’m pretty sure I will be able to recognize Xiao Nai or Hyun Bin anywhere, though the rest of their fellow countrymen may be indistinguishable to me😜😜😜

He’s a jpg… Others are gifs or movs… Minimalist to the core, he only speaks when absolutely necessary and moves when absolutely necessary. Everyone’s either bopping or singing along or swaying to the music (this is at the end of a concert), he stands stock still. It’s not deliberate on his part but it just makes all eyes look at him just because he’s so different 😂 Very un-idol like…no piercings either…not even ear piercings. Plenty obvious that girl in the video is fangirling him but he’s totally oblivious 😂
I viewed it. He was just standing still in the middle of the commotion. lol. I like that he can space out like that and be in his own little world. It makes me want to jump on him just to shock him out of his reverie.
When is his next drama??
He spaces out all the time – which is what makes him unusual. Don’t know when his next drama is. Rumour is he has Along With The Gods 3 to film latter half of this year but not sure what his plans are here on in. I think he’s considering offers. Currently he’s busy with EXO stuff. I get the feeling they are trying to pack as many EXO things in now before 2 of the members head into the army.
