Weiwei buys cold medicine for Ashuang and gets caught in the rain on the way back. Getting off the elevator, she encounters Nai and Friend #1 Old Man. I haven’t seen Nai this angry before.

Nai: What’s going on?
#1: I only asked you to get medicine. What happened?

Nai turns to him. Have you seen a shark in a tank when it smells blood? That’s how he looked like.

WW: It isn’t Yugong’s fault.

Nai looks at her then back at Old Man.

#1: Okay…Ashuang caught a cold, right? I was going to get him medicine but a client called. I had to send an urgent file. So I asked Ms. Weiwei to get it for me.

I wonder how close Nai is to punching his friend. He doesn’t answer Old Man. Barely concealing his anger, he orders Old Man to take off his jacket with one word, “Jacket.” He hands Old Man the infernal medicine for Ashuang. He bundles Weiwei in Old Man’s jacket and walks her back into the elevator.

#1: Where are you going? No overtime now?
Nai: (without looking at #1) We’re going home.

He still looks annoyed on the drive home.

Weiwei notices that her dress is wet.

WW: My dress is wet. What if I get your car dirty?

He doesn’t dignify her question with a response. I know he’s thinking that dirt on his car is the least of his worries but he’s holding his tongue. To fill the awkward silence in the car, Weiwei then turns on the music. Her choice of music?

Since we’re obsessive viewers here, I googled this song. F(x) is a Kpop group with four female singers. One of them is Chinese singer named Victoria. The lyrics of the song is from @popgasa.

I don’t get the meaning of this song and the video but to be brutally honest, I find many kpop songs and videos pretentious, and this one is a case in point.

It tries too hard to be profound and surreal when, in my Bitchy opinion, it’s merely rehashing the same junk about how life and love are problematic, mysterious, illusory — or “mysteric” according to the lyrics. Whatevs.

Weiwei notices that they’ve missed the turning to her place.

WW: This isn’t the way to Xiaoling’s place.
Nai: We’re going to my place.
WW: Your place?
Nai: It’s closer, and …

He switches to another music, and turns to her. With a poker face, he tells her, “You don’t have to worry about dirtying it.”

Hahaha. How rude! I love how he teases her each time and turns the table on her.

If she’s worried about dirtying his car, then she should naturally be more worried about messing up his house, right? But to me, he’s forestalling her refusal by telling her not to worry about dirtying his place because his house’s cleanliness is immaterial to him. And his car is even less important than his house.

The point here is this: her real and BIGGER concern about going to his house is NOT about making a mess in his house but being ALONE with him in HIS house. Get it?

But she can’t bring up her hesitation to be alone with him because he’s successfully FRAMED her protest as based wholly on cleanliness. He preempted her argument.

What can she say? She can hardly say this: 

Nai: It’s closer and…you don’t have to worry about dirtying it.
Weiwei: But I’m NOT really worried about dirtying your place. I’m mean, it’s okay if I mess up your place…No… Uhm…Not really worried about the mess…
Nai: So what are you worried about then?
Weiwei: (How do I say “being alone with you?” without you laughing at me?) Never mind. Forget about it. Nothing.

See what I mean?

And the OTHER funny thing is he switches the song from “4 WALLS” (note: a wall is a partition and four walls means a complete enclosure — or no possible entry from any side) just before he tells her to worry about dirtying his place.

And the new song he chooses? (Go ahead and try to magnify the words if you can….)

I believe it’s Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”
