1. Gu WeiYi as a brother

Did she know what she was doing when she blew on his ears?

Situ Mo had lowered inhibitions when she was intoxicated. Gu WeiYi assumed that she was unaware of her action and, more importantly, the effects of her action on HIM. She didn’t know that what she was doing was a “turn on”.

So he was embarrassed that he was “turned on” and ignored the feeling.

The following day, when she was sober, she forgot about blowing on his ear. But she teased Gu WeiYi about his briefs.

She had washed them, thinking nothing of handling them. Gu WeiYi was understandably horrified. Remember? How he felt about touching her bra in the earlier episode? Same thing with his underwear.

WY: What are you washing? Take your breakfast. I’ll help you (spots his briefs and grabs them from her)
Mo: Hey, what are you doing?
WY: This is… this is my…
Mo: I know. It fell so I washed it again.
WY: No need.
Mo: (smiling) It’s okay. You have washed it before, right? It isn’t dirty.
WY: Alright. Let’s go eat.

STM felt his awkwardness at the breakfast table so she tried to make light of the situation.

Mo: I’ve a younger brother. I used to hang all the clothes in my home. I’m used to it. So you don’t have to be shy.

Mo: I’ve no evil thought!

Mo: We slept on the same bed before. Nothing happened, right?

GWY couldn’t believe what he was hearing, and glared at her. The truth was nothing happened in bed because he was a gentleman and didn’t take advantage of her. He just took a shower. A cold shower.  hahaha.

An explanation for the innocent readers here. When a guy takes a (cold) shower, it means that he had to cool off his sexual desires. To me that’s the whole point of the writer showing us that GWY took a shower last night. He suppressed (or relieved haha!!) his sexual urges in the shower.

Situ Mo didn’t know that since she was conked out so she continued to tease him.

Mo: There’s no difference between you and my brother.

Incredulously, he stared at her. I think for a second there, he was deciding how teach her a lesson. He probably found her cheekiness – happily munching on her bread, acting innocent – to be the last straw. He couldn’t allow her to think that “nothing” happened when that whole time he had kept himself in check. He wanted to prove her wrong that his feelings for her was purely platonic.

Mo: Gu Weiyi! What are you doing? Gu Weiyi! What are you doing?

He carried her off to her room and dumped her on the bed. And closed the door. hahaha. He wanted to scare her.

WY: You’ll know the difference between me and your brother.
Mo: Gu WeiYi

But Yuan Yuan the vacuum interrupted them. And he felt faint because of hypoglycemia.

Mo: You are too weak. (he bites the bread angrily) You fainted due to Hypoglycemia, huh? And you don’t like to exercise. There’s really no difference between you and my brother. (he stops eating). I’m sorry. I didn’t say anything.

WY: I’m warning you. Don’t say that again.

Mo: There’s a difference. There must be a difference.
WY: What’s the difference?
Mo: You…You…You can modify Yuan Yuan. My brother can’t.
WY: Oh.

Smiling, STM made a quick getaway. She knew she had a reprieve.

2. “What are you doing?”

Gu WeiYi really should have been the one asking her this question when she started blowing on his ear. But as it turned out, Situ Mo was the one suspicious of his moves the whole day.

She thought he was going to ravish her when all he wanted to do was to teach her a lesson.

“What are you doing?!” 

He was feeling dizzy when he landed on top of her. She thought he was going to kiss her. lol. If he had wanted to kiss her, he could have done it last night.

“What’s wrong with you?”

She was suspicious too when he knocked on her door. He only wanted to know what she wanted to it. Methinks she was afraid that he’d pounce on her and continue where he left over earlier. That’s why she fled her bedroom and busied herself with cooking. She usually didn’t cook for both of them.

She was skittish with him in the kitchen with her. He only wanted to watch her cook.

Mo: Why not wait in your room? I’ll call you when the noodle is ready.
WY: I want to see you cook. (because she rarely cooks for them both)

He moved closer.

Mo: It’ll take some some time to boil the water. Why not…
WY: I’ll wait right here.
Mo: Okay. Call me when the water boils. (leaving him)

Gu WeiYi noticed that she was avoiding him so he googled it.

She peeked out of her room to see if the coast was clear.

Then, she was curious to know what he was doing in his room, AS IF he was the one acting shady the whole morning.

“What are you doing?”

When GWY approached her to show her the contraption he invented for the kitchen, she backed away from him uneasily.

“What do you want?”

Then, as Gu WeiYi reached behind her for the TV remote control, she thought that he was going to make a move on her.

“What are you doing?” she growled.

To me, it’s funny that she had been anxious that whole morning that he had “designs on her virtue” – as they say in romance novels. Earlier, she said that she had no “evil thoughts”. She meant that she had no sexual thought about him.

But in reality, she did have “evil” thoughts about him. I think she was projecting her own sexual ideas on him. He was innocent when he knocked on her door to ask what she wanted to eat. He was innocent when he moved closer to watch her cook. He was innocent too when he was working on his laptop. He was also innocent when he stepped closer to show her his invention on his phone. And he was definitely innocent when he tried to reach around her for the remote. He didn’t know what was going on with her.

Each time, she was wary of his intentions because she did have “evil thoughts” of him. lol.

3. Attending his oral defense

They were both staring at each other with googly-eyes.

I thought she was a distraction but since it was a foregone conclusion that he was going to pass, it didn’t matter.  This scene was probably meant to highlight his genius. Despite the fact that his dating life distracted him from his senior research, GWY was still the university’s ace physics student. (heh)

Students, don’t do this in real life. Focus on your studies.

4. Treating her girlfriends out

I’ve watched a similar scene in Love O2O. I dislike this element of the dating scene in Cdramas. Really? Did the girls expect the guy to treat them all out? It’s reasonable if he was working and earning money but since he was a student like them, I think this is a vulgar practice. I side with Situ Mo here. It was foolhardy to blow all his money on one sumptuous feast, only to starve afterward.

However, I understand why he did. He wanted to a dinner worthy of STM. lol. He didn’t want STM’s friends to think STM was ending up with a loser. And in a way, it resembles the way he loves STM. He’ll give everything all up for her.

5. Gu WeiYi’s unceasing patience

@GrowingBeautifully commented on this before, and I agree. STM needs to step up her game.

This is the 20th episode and she remains like a bottomless pit of helplessness. If she didn’t know how to tie Gu WeiYi’s necktie, she should have been resourceful. Really! She could have googled it like he often does when he wants to get answers,

I like the idea that the guy is besotted with her. But during moments like this, I find the girl tiresome. GWY doesn’t demand much from STM, and she does so little for him. If the story had been reversed, that is, the guy behaved like a slacker like Situ Mo or a spoiled royalty, I would have dropped that drama a long time ago.
