Deng Lun’s drama: Mr Fighting

Hao Zeyu (Deng Lun) debuted 10 years ago through a talent competition. The years have untreated him kindly as he is now considered a has-been. He meets an unconventional team comprised of the beautiful Niu Meili (Ni Hongjie) who’s in her middle ages, the chubby and unemployed Fu Zi (Sandra Ma) and Fu Zi’s dad (Han Tongsheng) who works as a driver.
The three are determined to turn Hao Zeyu into a big star. Through a stroke of luck, Hao Zeyu gets his shot at stardom which ignites a series of events. Faced with a choice between personal interests and family and complicated by romance, the interim family unit is in danger of falling apart.
Pros: I think Deng Lun is a much better actor than Yang Yang. Plus, I like that he’s articulate in his interviews. He cares about his craft.
What more, I like his co-star, too. She’s one of the few Chinese actresses that I find wholesome. I find her prettier than Angelababy (there’s something forced about her) and Dilraba Dilmurat (whose owlish eyes I find creepy). She strikes me as a smart cookie.
Cons: But if this is on Viki, I’m going to wait until the subbers are done. No point in aggravating myself when there are so many good dramas on my queue.
They also released the OSTs. I think Deng Lun and Sandra Ma both sang one for the show.
Yang Yang’s drama: The King’s Avatar
Co-star: Who?? Irrelevant.
Episodes: 40
Synopsis: It’s about online gaming but really? Who are we kidding? Do we need a synopsis when viewers are watching it for Yang Yang? He can read a Latin dictionary for all I care, and I’d still dissect it for intonation, diction, pronunciation, and facial expression.

I was already fangirling.
I don’t know where it’s subbed. If it’s on Youtube like “Put Your Head on My Shoulders” was, then this drama will garner more views than Deng Lun’s series, no matter how juvenile and tired the plot may be.
Li Xian’s drama: Go Go Squid

Status: Currently watching and still laughing AT him. I’ll be needing botox for my wrinkled forehead after I’ve been mirroring his frowny face.
Yang Zi’s wardrobe is atrocious. Her costume designer should stop pushing her fashion oddity on the viewers. It’s not going to be trendy, alright?
If it were possible, the “Best Actor Award” should go to Li Xian’s SCOWL alone. It’s been an important character in this series.

I agree that Deng Lun is a much better actor than Yang Yang. I have seen a few of his interviews too. 🙌 I’ll try to watch it somewhere else. It is on Viki but I’m not subscribed to it.
I will not watch King Avatar because I’m not into his leading lady and it’s another game story and there’s so many other people in the series so I’m out even if he is my number 1. Are you surprised? 😄 Deng Lun is my number two.
As for Li Xian, I’ve seen a lot of videos of GGS on ig and I think his cute too! Yes! Even with that scowl of him! 😄 I will try to start on GGS tomorrow since I’m up to date with my other 3 dramas. 🙂

King’s Avatar is super technical on the gaming, so unless you are really into esports or are a hardcore fan of the novel or anime, I doubt it will interest his LoveO2O fanbase. There’s not supposed to be any romance in this, however considering it’s a drama starring Yang Yang, they might force one, but not sure if they want to risk pissing off TKA fans. They also dubbed over his voice with the voice actor used in the anime to attract fans of the anime, but that made Yang Yang fans very unhappy.
The King’s Avatar is currently available with subs at the WeTv App site. Unfortunately, Viki has suddenly lost the liscense for King’s Avatar, but they are trying to get it back. I hope they succeed because the english subs for King’s Avatar are not that good-clunky language and grammar/spelling mistakes, but you can get the gist. It’s also available at Kissasian, if you need to watch at “other” sites.

About BWGM, it’s my latest guilty pleasure. Like @packmule3, the handcuff scene in Ep.1 had me fuming, and I didn’t like the balcony scene in Ep. 2 either. But the relationship between the leads became so intense that I couldn’t stop checking out all the available episodes on Viki. The fact that the hero improved over the episodes and became much more caring kept me hooked – I love how he is always there for the heroine when she needs him (unlike her fiance). Waiting to watch for Episode 10 now. Hoping we will get a happy ending somehow in Episode 13🤞🤞
I fell into the trap and starting watching Mr Fighting on Vicki, there are a few episodes subbed so hope I’m not sorry and get left waiting for subs. I’m am in love with the story and the leads already. Thinking about your comments I graded the three actors as such: Of the three, Deng Lung is the best actor, Yang Yang the prettiest but Li Xian can put his shoes under my bed anytime.
I concur. Li Xian is killing his role as Han Shangyan. But I’m only in Ep 10, so I still have a long way to go with the blogging.
I’ve a weak spot for Yang Yang because he played the character Xiao Nai in Love O2O. But I’ve said here, we’re going to make a distinction between the actor and the character. If there was a sequel to Love O2O, you betcha I’d be among the first ones waiting for the release.
But if Yang Yang was doing another drama, I’d wait and see if the script’s good. That’s how I was able to resist that god/fantasy drama of his. @agdr03 was sucked in to watch it, though.
I’ll wait a few more weeks before starting on Mr. Fighting. I want Viki to get their subbing routine down pat before I start on it. There’s something likable about the way Deng Lun although I didn’t find him handsome.
@agdr03 asked me to watch “Sweet Dreams” and I thought Deng Lun looked like my garden gnome. He only needed pointy ears. So I said “Naaaah.”

I agree with you,I didn’t get through the first episode of the Dream drama. I’d like to see Yang Yang have a bit of fun with a role rather than being stoic all the time.
lol. When you said that his voice was dubbed over with the voice of an anime guy, I had this vision of a squeaky-sounding, geeky-looking guy. How does a voice of anime voice actor differ from a regular actor? I can understand if they dubbed over his voice to get a more mainland/mainstream Chinese accent? But to exchange his voice for a voice used in cartoons? Does Yang Yang have a high-pitched voice?

I dislike ironing. I remember that was one of the things I warned my husband/then-boyfriend before we moved in together: my dry-cleaners and laundry service bill. hahaha.
Don’t get me wrong. Anything that lays flat, I don’t mind ironing. But if there are cuffs, pleats, folds, tucks… ugh! They drive me crazy because whatever I do, a wrinkle and a “re-wrinkle” are inevitable.

Are you sure you’re ready to handle another romance with Yang Yang? I think I’ll be disappointed if he takes on a role where he’s a jerk. lol. After Love O2O, his image is like Park Bogum now: Mr. Perfect. In a way, they have both become victims of their own success.

Mr. Fighting is a viki original. Hurray! Viki had a membership sale recently but I think I got the best deal last year. It was 40% off their Pass+ membership. The drama can be played on multiple devices at the same time. Not to mention, I can play two dramas simultaneously on two different devices. When Hotel de Luna gets scary, I shift my eyes to Go Go Squid.

About Yang Yang, you may be right (though I will hope not🤞🤞) – his Xiao Nai was perfection and perfection cannot be topped – it can only be replicated. He has set the bar for romantic hero too high.
I think it all depends on if he has the prudence and maturity to choose a similar role and not go for lesser roles.
I will still give him a few more chances though, just for the sake of him having given us our Xiao Nai – the perfect boyfriend ever😍😍 I hope C-drama writers write roles with him in mind in future.

Watched episode 8 yet? I’m watching it tonight. That’s a great deal on Viki at 40% off. I’ll have to transfer to another site for GGS once I reach episode 6 I think. Lucky Mr Fighting is on YT. I was reading back and I did say I will have 4 dramas to watch and only realized that if I put off Mr Fighting then I’ll only have 3. LOL.
I’m only on episode 3 of GGS and so far so good. That scowl of him is plastered very well. LOL. I thought he was still a good Boss even if his very strict. I mean their red envelope could have been only 500 but he said make it 5,000. 🙂
@Phoenix , I couldn’t agree more that Yang Yang still looks cool and handsome. Don’t worry about the romance bit. I’m sure he will come back with another drama, hopefully. I am looking forward to his movie though with Jackie Chan called Vanguard. I saw a trailer before but it’s gone quiet now. Hopefully it will still be shown.
