Vagabond: Eps 7 & 8 @katakwasabi’s Comment

@katakwasabi,

you posted it this as a comment, but I’m re-posting it here on the blog because it’s easier than me ditto-ing everything.  Thanks! — packmule3

I read since it’s a husband and wife writer pair, we will get a show from both male and female perspectives. But….I don’t really see it yet.

I personally find the writing for both Haeri and Dalgun left much to be desired as of ep 8. Since they are the leads, and they fill the screen most…eyes are on them.

I find Haeri so unprofessional looking, it distracts from her being a professional. Her attitude, combined with her loose hair, her heels makes it look like she’s not serious in her job. She needs to present herself better to make others treat her as an equal and make her voice be heard. She’s flamboyant, bubbly and overzealous. There’s nothing wrong with being bubbly, look at Lily, she is such a playful character but when she’s at work (even when she fails at killing) she exudes a different vibe and treated equal or above everyone else, her team are all men. (Side note: I like Lily’s English, she sounds mischiveous. Haha)

As for Dalgun…he’s an adrenaline junkie and does not think about consequences. There’s a limit of doing things and Dalgun has no limit. He is made out of titanium or wolverine bones and have spiderman skills. He has no respect to rules and to him he is always right. That makes him an obnoxious character to me. He clearly overstepped the line when he interfered with an international scale investigation, but he still think he’s doing the right thing. NIS is slow, but thinking about it, the drone was at that location that day (they have a drone schedule), so if Dalgun wasn’t running around, they could have spotted the bottle filled balcony on the same say. It’s just a matter of time. Dalgun is too over the edge, he shouts and screams to make others listen to him but he doesn’t realize his actions are cray2 and it make others don’t want to listen. I also don’t see his praises to Haeri as him trying to uplift her, they barely know each other. Each time he praises her, there’s a thing or 2 he wants from her in return…hence I see him manipulating her enthusiasm to work with or for him. He made Haeri his NIS mole.

I find the supporting cast more stable and consistent (in terms of writing and acting). KTW was a douche in ep 7, but it was somewhat in-line with his character and imo ep 8 clarified his way of thinking in a better light. Lily is just Lily lol. Even Mr Kang started to grow on me in ep 8, I might have misjudged him and thought he was evil, but it looks like he really cares for his team.
