I actually went back to watch from ep. 1 – 5.
13.01.1992 – ID card issued for Yoo Tae Yi (Omega TY) as Park Seon Yeong (DOB 07.10.1968). 25. y.o. Korean age.

@miracle, yes, her date of birth on her Fake ID is October 7, 1968. The report of her murder was posted on October 8, 1992. Americans always confuse this because we use that month/date/year order.

BTW, she definitely read the book. It was on her lap during the bus ride.

Question:

Did she come earlier in January to apply for this card? Or she was given this card by someone who told her about the book’s content in general? She didn’t believe it at first that was why she was intrigued to peek inside the book to confirm it. Did she already know she was pregnant before she traveled to 1992? Hence, when she read about going through the portal while carrying a baby, she began to think about her condition and might have believed the book’s prediction then was about her.

For now, all I can say is that she knew where to get a fake ID. Initially, I thought she had a contact inside the police/government agency who gave her the fake identity. But since no new character has shown up yet, I’ll go with the simplest answer: the black market for fake IDs.

I also don’t think she would have risked time travel if she knew that she was carrying a baby. At first, I found it weird that she wasn’t aware of her menstrual cycle. Women who are sexually active (and the 2050 Taeyi and MH were lovers) should be sensitive about missing their menstrual period, even when they’re on birth control. However, it was possible that she’d just begun taking her pills, so her cycle was still irregular. It was also possible that she’d taken an extended-cycle contraceptive. Either way, she didn’t know she was pregnant.

But given that she was already feeling queasy, and that she read the introduction of the book, it wouldn’t be a surprise if she suspected that the book was about her. The book was eerily foreboding, “Where should I begin? The tragedy began as she opened the gate to time. Would nothing have happened if the baby did not go through the time portal? Would things have been different if the baby wasn’t born?” 

I don’t understand either why she was so curious about the book that she defied both the directive from Alice, and the warning from MH. Again, I initially thought that she was a double agent, that is, she was working for both Alice and the anti-Alice resistance group.

But in Episode 6, when she visited the inmate Lee Sehoon, she had no idea who “Teacher” was.

Mom TY: Who is Teacher?
Sehoon: Why are you looking for Teacher?
Mom TY: Just tell me who he is.
Sehoon: Do you think I will tell you? Besides you can’t find Teacher. Whether Teacher is female or male, or how old Teacher is, no one knows. But I know because I met Teacher in person.

This tells me two things:

1. EVEN if she was working as a double agent back in 2050, she hadn’t met the “Teacher” like Lee Sehoon did.
2. The “Teacher” couldn’t be Taeyi, MH, or JG. If one of them was the “Teacher” then Sehoon would have proper deference.

Noteworthy: when JG asked WHY his mother was looking for Teacher, Lee SeHoon replied, “She said it was because of her son.”

This was an interesting comment. It tells me that she was worrying about the prophesy coming true.

23.03.1992 – MH was captured by a camera and his photo was kept in the investigation file of Dr. Jang’s murder as an accomplice. Detective in charge told JG that there was a woman too (i.e. Omega TY) but her image wasn’t available in the murder file.

Isn’t it interesting that Omega TY’s image wasn’t included in the murder file? I thought that either:

A. Alice minions (most especially, Manager Oh) were sloppy because they deleted TY’s photos, but forgot to delete MH’s photos, or
B. Somebody reported MH, but not TY. I wondered how the police was able to track MH the following day.

Note to myself: the assassin Lee SeHoon used a cellphone to contact Teacher, which was 1992 technology, not 2050. He didn’t even use a Bluetooth earpiece, which is a 2020 technology. lol.

24.03.1992 – Newspaper reported the death of Dr. Jang Dong Shik. Omega TY went for medical check-up and knew she was pregnant for 12 weeks. Police recognized YMH and Omega TY, they were on the chase.
02.11.1992 – PJG was born

Just to make it clear. JG’s birthdate is November 2, 1992. American would have written as 11/02/1992.

1997 – PJG is 6 y.o. (Korean age)
2004 – PJG is 13 y.o. (Korean age)
Fall 2010:
2010 – PJG is 19 y.o. (Korean age)
05.10.2010 – Seong Eun’s suicide and JG became the main suspect.
06.10.2010 – Omega TY then met witness girl (CG1) who told her that JG did not pushed SE. JG was released from police custody.
07.10.2010 – 2020 JG traveled to the university in 2010 (day time). The sky was unusual silhouette and changed back to clear sky. Alternate universe?

I think that this weird “cloud movement” is the wormhole that Taeyi was researching in a team with Mr. Seok (he wasn’t a Director back then).

Two theories here:

A. It’s a wormhole that allowed MH to travel back in time.
B. It’s a wormhole that allowed MH to jump to a parallel universe.

Remember: Time travel is different from traveling to an alternate/parallel universe.

Time travel is going back to the past or going forward to the future, but you’re still in your timeline. As a result of your time travel, you may accidentally change history.

Traveling to an alternate universe or parallel universe means going to another world. For instance, you can travel to a parallel universe without COVID-19 or an alternate world like the Kingdom of Corea where you’re the Queen in Lee Minho’s life or a secret space in the wardrobe where Narnia exists. Whatever you do in this alternate/parallel world will NOT likely change the course of events in your REAL world because they’re parallel universes — unless you leave the portal open or something like in “The King: Eternal Monarch”.

So, in this kdrama, it’s entirely possible that JG just didn’t travel back in time, but he also leaped into a parallel universe that wasn’t connected to his real world and his original timeline.

If that was the case, that is, he traveled to a parallel universe, instead of traveling back in time, then this Student Taeyi in 2010 —

would NOT become this Professor Taeyi in 2020. Why? Because these two Taeyis are from parallel universes.

Just like Taeul and Luna are from parallel worlds in “The King: Eternal Monarch.”

Do you understand what I mean?

For now, I’m keeping all options on the table. lol.

2020 JG ran to Prof Jang’s office and met CG1 (cr. 011sn).

Really?! Good catch!

This is the girl who came out as eyewitness and helped Mom Taeyi/Park SunYoung in getting JG out of jail.

2020 JG realised he was on the day of super blood moon. He called Omega TY and ran to his house, arrived when Omega TY and 2010 JG were celebrating her birthday at the korean age of 43 y.o. 2020 JG had a headache, saw a drone, saw 2010 SOW at his gate, ran after 2010 SOW as Omega TY went out to buy soju. Omega TY sent 2020 JG back to 2020. Omega TY was followed by a guy in a leather jacket – seems like different physic than the one standing in front of the house. Later she was murdered at home. 2020 JG caught 2010 SOW and 2010 SOW told him to save his mom but he was late. 2010 SOW and Detective GHS was running away from the house and both used different path, left and right. A white-haired guy in a leather jacket stood in front of the house.

Question:

Did CG1 recognise Omega TY’s face vs 2010 TY? Same timeline, same university, possibly same major.

I know, right? That office assistant should have seen Student Yoon TaeYi around the hallway or with the Physics professor, and wondered why she looked like Omega TY/Park SunYoung whom she helped out.

But it’s possible that we’re seeing a parallel universe here instead of straightforward time travel back to 2010. In this parallel universe, the 18-year-old JG wasn’t accused of murder and locked up in jail. Who knows?

Or maybe this is just a dumb script. lol.

08.10.2010 – News on Omega TY’s death was reported.
Class of 2011 Graduation – DY and JG graduated high school and JG accepted to police academy. After lunch with JG, Detective GHS was stabbed. (Production error: graduation batch was 2011 vs year of graduation 2010)
DD.MM.YYYY – JG graduated from police academy with Bachelor degree in Law

2020:

19.09.2020 – Hong Eun Soo (DOB 10.09.2014 = 7 y.o.) didn’t return home after a field trip.
21.09.2020 – Present time – PJG and KDY are 29 y.o. They had dinner and JG was called back to station regarding a kidnap case of HES who was reported missing today after two days not coming back from a field trip.
22.09.2020 – HES returned home, said to be with mom (Han Seon Hee – DOB 12.12.1984 = 36 y.o.). PJG saw Fountain TY. JG was hit by truck. That night, another quiet version of TY (Unknown TY), with teary eyes was together with 2051 HSH.

Question:

Is Unknown TY = Fountain TY? Unknown TY is more modest in fashion sense and no earrings. Did Unknown TY give HSH the mercenary’s contact number?

For now, I’m going to assume that Fountain Taeyi = Unknown Taeyi who met with the Fake Eunsoo’s mom.  I’m also going to assume that she’s the moon-gazing Taeyi.

It’s possible that Taeyi gave the Fake Eunsoo’s mom the Broker’s contact number. But it’s equally possible that she gave her NOTHING but an advice. She could have tried to dissuade the Fake Eunsoo’s mom from changing the past, and urged her to leave things as they were.

All we can say is that after Fake Eunsoo’s mom met with Fountain Taeyi, the Fake Mom went to say goodbye to Eunsoo.

She returned to the Alice Hotel. She looked at the pictures that she took of her daughter when she abducted her, and she also looked at Eunsoo’s future passport. That future passport is interesting because how did she get that? Was it always in her possession or did the Fountain Taeyi give it to her that night when they met?

The Fake Eunsoo’s mom was supposed to leave the hotel after her time travel was concluded. But MH found her still residing at the Alice Hotel a week later.

She was given approval to stay by Manager Oh. MH didn’t like her overstaying, so he went to her room to order her departure.

She couldn’t accept MH’s ruling so she hired a broker to assist her in extending her stay “here” illegally.

23.09.2020 – 2051 HSH met HES one last time and reminded her not to go to US to study when she is 17. 2051 HSH bumped into JG before got into a Kia Carnival suv with plate number 124 RA 5025. DY was writing an article about her senior dated 30.08.2020. Then DY received task to write about HES. 2051 Yang Hong Seob (DOB 14.06.2016 – Korean age 36 y.o.) returned to kill his older stepbrother, Yang Min Sung. CCTV date showed 30.08.2020 and time stamp at the carpark was 8.16 pm (Production error on current date i.e. August because HES was recorded as missing on 19.09.2020). HES started to have allergy reaction. YMH saved 2051 YHS and brought back to portal station located in a place hidden from naked eyes via illusion wall.

Question:

Is that portal station definitely in real world and hidden? When MH returned there with the bald boy, the car hit the invisible wall at the end of the road and the whole scene changed as the portal station became visible. Even the departure gate mayhap be in real world since the mercenary guy can access it i.e. 2051 HSH escape plan.

The Alice Hotel/portal station is hidden from human eyes. But it’s located in the present world, that is, in our 2020 world. It’s NOT located in 2050/2051. And it’s NOT the headquarters. It serves as a hotel for the travel time “tourists” to stay in while waiting for their departure to the past or the future. It’s a transit hotel like you find at your local airport.

To me, Alice Hotel can’t be located in 2050/2051 based on MH’s conversation with the Team Leader Ki.

At Ep 3, 21:00.

Ki: They may be from 30 years ago, but they’re still police officers. There’s no need to cause trouble.
MH: Then you shouldn’t have built Alice here in the first place. It was a given that problems would arise from your building Alice at this location, and that’s the reason you called me here. To solve those problems. I know what you want, but we need to be more aggressive to achieve those things. You have to be stronger to protect what is precious to us.

MH didn’t like the fact that Alice Hotel was built in 2020. He believed the building location would cause a problem with the police, even if the police officers were from 30 years ago.

Then, in Episode 5, we see MH returning to the Alice Hotel. To me, he was coming from 2050/2051 and returning to the Alice Hotel because of the report of an unusual activity.

Episode 5, at 24:14.

Oh: The reports from a week ago apparently weren’t an error. The wormhole opened again an hour ago.
MH: Who was it?
Oh: Park Jin Gyeom.

MH is like the “trouble shooter” for Alice Hotel. He’s called down when there’s a problem with the operations at this facility.

24.09.2020 – YMS’s funeral, 2051 YHS ran from Alice and attacked DY and JG. 2051 YHS was injured and caught. Dong Ho was shot and MH took 2051 YHS back to portal station.
25.09.2020 – Detective GHS, JG and DY had dinner with DH. GHS told JG on the similar bullet wound on DH and Omega TY.
26.09.2020 – JG met Prof. YTY (DOB 12.07.1989 = 32 y.o. Graduated high school at 15 y.o., got PhD at 23 y.o. Has a younger sister, Yoon Tae Yu, family operates a restaurant). JG was attacked by Alice at a library.

Yes, the Alice Team “attacked” him because he refused to give up the time card which rightly belonged to them, and he challenged them to take it from him.

 

27.09.2020 – JG met Prof TY to request her assistance to check on the time travel card. Prof. TY told JG about seeing the drone and he assumed they saw the drone on the same day and told her he saw her then as well. It seems like she agreed to this because she didn’t deny his claim.

Question:

So, is Prof. TY = Fountain TY? Because Fountain TY and Prof TY share common traits in that they both are earrings person and wear fancy style, unlike the Unknown TY who doesn’t wear any accessories. However, she didn’t remember JG’s face from the accident.

No. I don’t think they’re the same. Fountain TY and the Unknown TY are not Prof TY.

Prof TY = shameless hussy lol

I think there was careful editing done in this scene. The director cut it so that the audience is left with the impression that they were both talking about the same thing.

It would be illogical (and a glaring plothole) that Prof TY had no recollection of seeing JG get hit by the truck when they met again in the classroom. She was staring right at him at the accident scene. Prof TY should have asked him if he was fine after that truck accident.

28.09.2020 – JG and DY quarreled. JG went to see Prof. TY again. JG remembered Omega TY’s tattoo and trying to check if Prof. TY has it too. Prof. TY realised the time travel card caused strange frequency. Detective GHS heard of YTY’s name and his face’s change. It seems like the name is familiar to him. 2020 HSH bathed HES after a visit to clinic to check on her allergy. 2051 HSH at the portal station postponing her return trip but YMH arranged for her to leave immediately. Alice guide was killed and 2051 HSH escaped. SOW read on “The mother who went through the door of time to prevent her daughter’s death turned the past upside down and is about to shake the future”. That night 2051 HSH killed 2020 HSH. So, this incident will shake the future.

Question:

How did Detective GHS know the name YTY? Did Omega TY tell him of her full name in 2010 when she shared about time travel, if any?

See? We don’t know yet. But that’s why I suspect that Mom Taeyi told Detective Go the truth and that Detective Go knew a whole lot more than he let on.

Remember, Detective Go was talking on the phone with somebody BEFORE he visited Eunsoo’s mom and Eunsoo’s mom stabbed him. To me, somebody ordered him to investigate Eunsoo’s mom personally.

Mental reminder for myself: Somebody tried to stabbed Detective Go in 2010, too.

29.09.2020 – 2020 HSH body was found. JG went to interrogate 2051 HSH. Detective GHS told JG he will check on HSH first. He got a call and went to see HSH and HES. 2051 HSH stabbed him and ran with HES. Prof. TY met her friend and analyse the card at her lab. Prof. TY went to see JG to tell about the card. He brought her to see his mom’s belonging. Prof. TY went to have dinner at her adopted parent’s restaurant. JG looked at drawing of SOW as a suspect of Omega TY’s murder.
30.09.2020 – Prof. TY visited the Hope orphanage where she grew up. 2051 HSH was caught by Alice and brought back to portal station. YMH caught the mercenary guy and recognised him but he got away. 2051 HSH was remembering the memory of 2020 HSH bathing HES after the clinic trip. Manager Oh informed that LSH will be released soon in 2020. Prof TY was looking at the moon.

Question:

How can 2050 HSH have this memory if the allergy is the effect of her time travel? Was she the one who brought HES to clinic instead of 2020 HSH? Was the one looking at the moon really Prof TY or Fountain TY or Unknown TY?

No. It was the real Eunsoo’s mom (the 2020 mom) who accompanied Eunsoo to the doctor and gave her the bath.

The 2050 Eunsoo’s mom didn’t know about the allergy till after she killed off the real Eunsoo’s mom.

JG dropped by their condo to interview her. She panicked and decided to leave town with Eunsoo. She packed a bag but when she went to Eunsoo’s room to wake her up, Eunsoo was unconscious, and covered with boils. That’s when she discovered the boils for the first time. She realized that she too had boils on her nape, so she called Alice.

Ep 3 at 57:00.

01.10.2020 – Prof TY can’t stop thinking about the card. The mercenary guy was found dead. JG met Prof TY again and went to meet SOW. JG recognised SOW as the murder suspect. SOW was taken into interrogation.
02.10.2020 – JG visited SOW lecture on butterfly effect. JG asked SOW about time travel. JG went to see Prof TY and she’s pestering him for the card. SOW met Prof TY and she told him about the card. Prof TY saw a drone. JG was hit on his way to see Prof TY and he traveled to fall 2010.
08.10.2020 – JG returned to 2020 and went to see Prof TY. He was told that he was lost for a week, had another headache and passed out. Alice detected the wormhole opened to travel JG to 2010. The card emitted very high radiation. JG went to see SOW and he told JG to look for his father. YMH planned to kidnap JG. JG told DY he wanted to search for his father.
09.10.2020 – JG told Detective GHS. JG returned to his hometown for intel. Prof TY’s friend informed that on 7th and 14th radiation level spiked 40 times. Prof TY met JG and told him that her mom left her at the orphanage when she was 5 y.o. YMH attempted to kidnap JG but failed. SOW saved JG and put his guy to protect JG.
10.10.2020 – DY’s chief was the one wrote the news about Omega TY’s death, news dated 08.10.2010. DY said that Omega TY’s visited LSH a month before she died; and someone young either in late 20s or early 30s visited Omega TY when 2010 JG was at school and Detective GHS was informed but he never told JG i.e. it’s 2020 JG who visited his mom in 2010.

2030 – HES died after went to the US. (Production error on DOB stated at passport 10th Sept/ Aug 2014. Updated: fixed to Sept 2014 in Ep. 3)

P/S: Prof TY definitely knows she looks a lot like JG’s mom. They talked about it. Please don’t go to romance route you two. Not funny.

For me, one of the biggest reveals in Episode 6 was Manager Oh’s revelations.

Ep 6 at 23:27.

Oh: Where’s the “Book of Prophesy”? Did TaeYi take it?
MH: No. Lee SeHoon wouldn’t give it up.
OH: I see. You should get back.
MH: I’m going to return after I find TaeYi.

If the subs are correct then he was planning to go home to 2050 only after he found TaeYi. He wanted to return to 1992 and look for Taeyi. But Manager Oh convinced him to go to 2050 first and report that TaeYi went missing.

OH: At least you should return, and report that TaeYi went missing after a small accident. I’ll remain here and look for her. TaeYi, before she’s your girlfriend, she’s my friend.

This is interesting because she lied to him, and told him that Taeyi already married, and that their baby died.

Then, later at 34:00, we begin to see that Manager Oh might be interested with MH in a non-professional capacity.

Oh: I think the physics professor that was with Park Jin Gyeom copied the program contents of the time card.
MH: I’ll look into it. Don’t report it for now.
Oh: Because that professor is TaeYi’s past?
MH: Don’t think of anything stupid.
Oh: That’s what I should be saying to you. That woman is not your girlfriend. She’s a person of the past, that has nothing to do with us.
MH: Even if you don’t tell me, I know that better than anyone else.
Oh: To be honest, I thought it was weird for our clients to time travel for the purpose of meeting people of the past. It’s not like I don’t understand where they’re coming from, but the people they meet here are neither their real family nor their real lovers.

Note: she used the word “here.” I take to mean that they were in 2020.

Oh: (continuing) So you should also keep that in mind. Alice was created in a parallel universe. The person you met today is just a different woman from another dimension. Since her age and background differ, so will her personality. So just forget her.
MH: I’m the one that brought back the card. You said someone copied it. That’s also my responsibility.
Oh: Minyeok-ssi. Going back to the school is dangerous. I’ll be careful. Thanks.

Here I think is the crux of problem. If the subbing is correct, then Alice was created in a parallel universe, and it’s an unethical project.

I suspect that the people in 2050 didn’t want to risk changing their present lives by tampering with the past, so they created the Alice hotel/space port in parallel universe. Nothing that occurred in this parallel universe would affect their real world.

For example, even if the Hammer guy, Yang Hong Seop, killed his older brother’s younger self, or if Eunsoo’s mom killed her other self, the future lives wouldn’t be changed. It didn’t matter one bit to the Alice minions if crime happened in JG’s world because back in their real world — in their own dimension — nothing was changed.

It’s like that Las Vegas slogan. “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

The mess that the Alice minions and travelers were creating in JG’s world stayed in JG’s world. It didn’t happen in their own world. They traveled back in time in ANOTHER universe so that their own history remained unaltered.

That’s why Prof Taeyi’s personality is different from JG’s mom’s personality. They’re not just from different times, but from totally different universes. 🙂
