The piano piece Doc played at his piano lesson was Etude in C minor by Chopin, nicknamed “Revolutionary.”
…And Richard Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz was playing during the kimchi-fest. When she charged at the door, I was afraid she’d break her elbow or arm this time around. That was a dumb move for a pianist to make, to break down the door with her shoulder. Would have been better to kick down a door.
Did you get the name of the piece that she was playing in Episode 4 the day after her piano lesson with the Doc. He was feeling morose then heard her playing so he ran for home. She played in again in Episode 5.

It may not matter to Rara, if Jun happens to be her soulmate. His mother won’t like it, though, if he’s to take over his family’s foundation. And he must finish school. Haha. So he didn’t lie when he said he only graduated from middle school.
I wonder if his dream is not to go into medicine. I’ve seen little evidence that he’s interested in that field other than he’s smart enough to do the exams. In the flashback of his first encounter with Jun, I thought he dropped his leather medicine tablet case on the ground. It might be inoperable, and terminal (because this is kdrama, somebody should have a terminal disease). Or he might be delaying the treatment because he didn’t want to lose his medical practice if surgery failed.
Anyway, there’s now a “human” side to Dr. Cha now.

hahaha. The door scene was funny, @agdr03. It was funny because of the Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz playing in the background. It’s the perfect music to accompany the visual chaos of the ahjummas’ non-stop gossiping and Rara’s breaking down of the wall.
I don’t know why I laughed when one of the ahjummas said that she nearly had a miscarriage (I know the pain…). Maybe because Rara really looked like a bull when she burst the door down.
I like the ladies’ gossip. One of them reported that Jun didn’t look sick at all. In truth, he looked downright “excited” when he dropped by the bakery, according to the eyewitness. Awwww… He got her gluten free quinoa bread with avocado spread.

A loving mom (or stepmom) would be very worried and desperate if her son were missing for 6 months. This lady seems more annoyed than worried. And she wants Jun found so that his father does not find out. Which means she never told the father that Jun had gone missing. But then, the father has not figured out that something was not right? It seems Jun has a strained relationship with both of his parents.
Now, that you mentioned HaYoung…
hahaha. Hayoung and her wannabe-boyfriend are actually his peers! To think that he was aggrieved whenever Hayoung claimed “Oppa” was her future husband. I thought it was funny that he was “offended” because a young brat was so impertinent as to set herself up with a much older man.
But now in hindsight….lol. He’s the cheeky one! He’s just like HaYoung except he doesn’t verbalize his affection.
And in Episode 2, the Mom’s bodyguard/hired detective reported to her that a lady visited “his” place. Did I remember that correctly? I wonder who that could have been.

@packmule Jjamppong is the seafood soup with chilli. It’s really delicious, but can be really spicy. We went on a hunt to try it after seeing them slurp it all up in psycho but it’s ok. It’s quite easy to cook too! The black bean one is jajangmyeon, the one they were eating in Roy.
The Ep 2 scene where the man reported to Jun’s mum about the young lady visiting was referring to visitors to Ji hun’s niche I think? She placed men there to see if Jun might visit his friend’s niche.
Here goes Jun again with his “Daddy Long Legs” (except he’s not a “Daddy”) benevolence. I like that he dropped by the car dealer and told them that the sale was off and that Rara wasn’t going to sell her car.
Jun: You cant take your time and pay me back later.
Rara: Really?
Jun: Instead be my driver from now on.
If this was a true romance, I could imagine him declaring, “Be my *wife” from now on.” Isn’t that how it went in those Harlequin books?
Rara: Driver? As in drive you everywhere?

@Snow Flower, I agree that the mom or step-mother has kept Jun’s disappearance from his father. But it sounds like she was genuinely relieved that the drowned man wasn’t Jun. So I don’t believe she wishes to harm him; just to get him back in his ‘normal’ routine.

I like that scene when she teared up talking about how her father tried to protect her with his talisman. Awwww…
And I like her optimistic spin on her accident. She said that she, Mimi and Jun could have ended up in a more serious condition, but her talisman from her dad helped them.
I should have known to be suspicious of Jun when he didn’t have his own license. At 24???
Kids here, especially boys, apply for their student permit as soon as they can. IIRC, my sons had theirs when they were 15? 16? And as soon as they passed the test, they asked for car keys and they were off!
That scene with the goon and Rara fighting over the ruler freebie was funny! I agree, Fern. That goon must be a softie inside. He didn’t like Jun’s mother because she nagged too much. And if he was a mean goon, he would have punched Rara instead of tussle with her over that ruler freebie.
Jun could only stare at her from a distance. I like his soft tone of voice, though, when he approached her and asked, “Why talk to a stranger? It’s dangerous.” I like it that Jun doesn’t yell at her (except with the photo). He has a mellow voice.
@Fern, I agree, Rara doesn’t know how to clean. We’ve never seen her clean in any of the episodes shown. 😁
Maybe it’ll be one of the things that she’ll learn if/when Jun and her part ways.
@Fern, I entertain the idea of the gangster goon taking piano lessons! Rara’s Piano Land and Jins Beauty salon really is Ground Zero, as packmule3 said. Everybody finds their way there, sooner or later!

That was a good scene. Her funny face made him laugh so he forgot about crying.
And she smiled too because it was rather silly that she was “sympathetic-crying” along with Jun.
That’s why I like the actress Go Ara here. I can’t imagine another actress with the same range.
Take that actress in that Brahms kdrama. I doubt that she can express mischief as well as Go Ara, or swing from sadness to happiness to silliness in the same take.
Yes, Jun daddy long legs again. ☺️ I liked how he used Rara’s sample of her dream as simple as being his driver because Juju was not sold.

The thing with DYLB is everything was slow, like the background music, the way they speak and the way things were happening. It’s a melancholy drama so I think the FL there can only do so much facial expression. I’ve never seen her nor do I like her though. 😁
And Jun looked back at Doc and Rara walking together. He knew that, age-wise, he was walking among his peers, HaYoung and the wannabe-boyfriend. And that Rara and the Doc looked like they were the same age.
That’s why I think in Episode 4, he was down-in-the-dumps the whole day after Doc’s piano lessons. He looked at the Doc, then he looked at Rara. He knew that he was out of their league. Sigh.
I can’t wait to have a time leap/fast forward in this kdrama. It can’t come too soon.

I’m annoyed because this is the second time that the actor in Brahms, Lee MinJae, is paired up with an actress who irritates. Remember that actress in “Joseon Matchmakers…” Ugh!
I know that Brahms is a melodrama, and not a romcom. But still, her face is passive. Even when she’s just pensive, she could still express that. Like look at Jun/Lee JaeWok. When he’s listening to Rara or the Doc, his face doesn’t remain motionless. You can “see” the thoughts running in his mind. Like he tenses up, blinks, frowns, flares his nose, bites his lip, and so on. There are always small details. The girl in Brahms can’t do that.
@packmule oh I love Jun’s mellow voice. It’s soothing. He has long, “pianist” fingers too, whereas Rara’s aren’t as elegant.
I realize they’ve dressed Jun to suggest his age. Initially (when I thought he was 24) I was wondering why he was always dressed so casually and in shorts all the time. Now we know why. 😏
I know! I know! The FL in Flower Joseon and DYLB are pretty much the same. 😁

Age differences, however small are so important in k dramas
I don”t think RaRa is that much older than Jun and he beats her by a mile in terms of emotional maturity and life skills, although she is a great way negotiator for her needs. She studied music privately, but we don’t see her having academic credentials. On the other hand, Jun seems like he is a prodigious learner whose knowledge goes beyond high school-probably no need for cram courses. And RaRa may be a tad younger than we think
For me, there in is so much that recommends their pairing. We see so many younger women older men in k dramas (like in Ji Chang Wook’s last one with a much wider age difference) and the female older woman/younger man worked well on Camelas. So give the RaRa-Jun pairing a chance.
My jaw dropped when I realised that Jun is 18 years old!!! .. so i m hoping for a time skip like u @packmule

At this age
(A) he is a middle school graduate
(B) he would have learnt up to Czerny30
(C) he does not have a driver’s licence
The show have been giving us hints that he is a young adult
(A) how he would run home when he knows Ra Ra is at his place. Arrange his hair before entering
(B) he is innocent for a 24 yr old
(C) he is wearing bermudas.. I kept wondering y a 24 yr old would wear bermudas just like you @JT7
Then it makes sense why he looks disturbed when he realised Dr Cha is a pro at piano… He realised he is definitely not of the same league as Ra Ra
I almost think that RaRa is so softhearted that she could like anyone. Remember what she said to Jun about her would-be husband? She didn’t hate him; she would have been content with their marriage.
I think though, IF she actually falls deeply in love with Jun, his false existence will break her heart, right?
Up until now, I feel that she cares about him, rather than cares ‘for’ him in a romantic sense. We’ll see what happens after this accidental clinch. She thinks he’s older, because he has a certain and unusual kind of wisdom for a man his age. She has learned things from him and visa versa. They have a sort of symbiotic relationship that’s not unhealthy but may not survive reality.

@packmule perhaps it’s a cultural difference? My impression is that the guys in Korea above 20 hardly wear shorts unless its for sports. I found it funny that HY’s friend who was supposed to be “younger” than Jun never wore shorts, while Jun was was supposed to be older was constantly togged in shorts haha.
@Anna you are right, he never lied to anyone, save to Rara, which was about his age. Also his treatment of Rara was just like a young man having a crush. Oh show please give us that time leap soon!
