February should be a time of romance, but where’s the love in these kdramas??
Don’t go all serpentine and convoluted for me, Kdrama gods! All I want is a simple love story for Valentine’s Day!!!
1. L.U.C.A.: The Beginning
Synopsis from mydramalist:
“LUCA” is based on Charles Darwin’s proposition that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors. (LUCA stands for “last universal common ancestor.”)
Ji Oh, who rarely reveals his emotions to others, has a special power and a secret but doesn’t know who he really is. He is chased by mysterious figures while he tries to find answers to numerous questions that surround him.
Gu Reum is a detective whose parents disappeared when she was a young child. When she decides on a course of action, she won’t change no matter what. Gu Reum chases after the truth behind her parents’ disappearance. She meets Ji Oh and her life changes.source: mydramalist luca
Comments:
We had “Alice” and now “Luca”? And “Sisyphus”?
I think their names have special meanings associated with them. The hero’s name “Ji Oh” When pronounced in English, the hero’s name “Ji Oh” is “Geo.” Geo means earth. The heroine’s name on the other hand is “GuReum.” Gureum in Korean means cloud. I guess she’s the cloud protecting him and giving him cover from the mysterious figures hunting him down because of his supernatural powers.
I read that this kdrama was pre-produced. Filming ended last October so I expect a tight script and editing.
The tvN drama LUCA, which started filming this spring finally wrapped filming in October and should be ready for premiere soon.
source: https://www.creatrip.com/en/blog/9034
However, I suspect that there’s going to be a second season so this kdrama could end in a cliffhanger. Grrr. Do you see how the entry of Netflix in Korean entertainment has changed the industry with this seasonal format? Instead of nicely resolved story, the writers are now opting for open-ending on the off chance that a second season will be offered to them.
If you aren’t training to be an evolutionary biologist or geneticist, here’s a two-minute read on LUCA.
Whooops! Wrong Luca!
That’s Luca Pantini, Italian hunk, evolutionary male species. lol.
Here’s L.U.C.A. www.imperial.ac.uk What is L.U.C.A.?
Cast:
Lee DaHee: I don’t think I’ve watched anything of hers before.
Kim RaeWon: This actor — I’m not really wild about the actor ever since I watched him on “My Little Bride.” I’ve this picture of him as a “dirty old man” — although I’m decades older than him – who co-stars with teenage actresses. #sorrynotsorry Just like there are some actors who have writers have pigeon-holed into “noona” dramas (ahem Jung Hae In) because of their baby faces, Kim RaeWon has been boxed into playing cynical, world-weary men. I expect this drama to be the same as the lead character: heavy and fatiguing.
Episodes: 12
Start Date: Monday, Feb 1
Airs on Monday and Tuesday, so it’ll run only for 6 weeks
Original Network: tvN
Where to Watch It: Viki? Kissasian?
2. River Where the Moon Rises
Essay (ha!) from Viki:
Born a princess and raised a soldier, Pyeong Gang (Kim So Hyun) is a woman with big dreams and limitless ambition. Determined to become the first Empress of Goguryeo, Pyeong Gang will stop at nothing to make her dream come true. Clever and level headed, Pyeong Gang is well aware of the obstacles that stand in her way and she’s more than capable of taking them on. With meticulous planning, she sets out to make her dream come true. But things take an unexpected turn, the day she meets On Dal (Ji Soo).
A peace-loving man, whose only goal in life is to live in harmony with those around him, On Dal is the exact opposite of the ambitious princess. A peaceful calm amidst the turbulent storms of Pyeong Gang’s life, the warrior princess soon finds herself falling for gentle On Dal. Equally in love with the princess whose heart he now possesses, On Dal finds himself forsaking his principles in order to keep her safe. An endeavor that proves increasingly difficult, as players from all sides converge in a lethal battle for the throne.
Forced to match both wits and strength against some of the most powerful men and women in Goguryeo, Pyeong Gang’s vie for power could very well cost her everything. Does she have what it takes to make her dreams come true or will the price she realizes she must pay prove to be too much?
Comment:
This is a note to myself. A kdrama that has a Goryeo setting, instead of a Joseon setting (like Mr Queen or My Sassy Princess) is going to darker, grittier and bloodier.
But I agree with @nrllee. The teasers do look pretty.
I also understand that when a hero says, “You’re my country,” he means that in a patriotic way, not romantic way. That is, he’s willing to face an army to ensure the heroine’s survival. He doesn’t, however, necessarily intend to EXIST in that same country with her after the great battle.
Not so wild about the writer but I’m willing to see if he’s improved after that sageuk fiasco, “Time Slip Dr. Jin.” The review on Dramabeans convinced me NOT to touch that train wreck of a drama.
A picture is worth a thousand words. What else could go wrong with this picture of a man, whose head wound was wrapped in a bandage, and whose hand held a jar with a fetus, right?
credit: dramabeans
But maybe I’m just biased? Maybe this writer didn’t see stupid the way I saw horseshit. I expect a lot from him now.
Don’t fail me.
Cast:
Kim So Hyun: the leading lady in “Tale of Nokdu.” I’m excited to see her as a fighter.
Ji Soo: I last saw him as the Second Male Lead in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.” Will he be able to carry this male lead role in a sageuk? I’m willing to give him a chance. He’s worked his way up.
Kang HaNeul: Is this a cameo?? He plays Jisoo’s dad.
Episodes: 20 (TWENTY!!!! Just like “Mr Queen)
Start Date: Monday, Feb 15 (seems like a busy week with “Sisyphus” opening)
Airs on Monday and Tuesday
Original Network: KBS2
Where to Watch It: Viki
3. Sisyphus: The Myth
The synopsis from wiki:
The story of a genius engineer named Han Tae-sul who tries to uncover the truth behind his older brother’s death, and an elite warrior called Kang Seo-hae who travels back in time to help him.
If you want the long version, here’s the mydramalist version:
Han Tae Sul, a co-founder of Quantum and Time, is a genius engineer with the highest level of coding skills with outstanding good looks that outweighs his engineer fashion sense. Due to his innovative achievements, Quantum and Time is a world-class company, dubbed as “The Miracle of South Korea’s Engineering Industry”. In reality, Tae Sul has caused his company’s stocks to constantly fluctuate after the death of his brother ten years ago. One day, after witnessing the unbelievable truth of his brother’s death, he sets off on a dangerous journey.
Kang Seo Hae is a soldier who could zipline from building to building, fight big built men with her bare hands, shoot guns, and install explosives. With the survival skills that she’s learned from living amongst gangsters and warlords, she sets off a dangerous path of finding Han Tae Sul.

But who cares about the synopsis when you can have the videoclip?
Comments:
Here’s Park ShinHye’s answer to her fans who complained about her role in “Memories of the Alhambra.” lol.
@GB said this:
I finally have done what I normally do not bother to do. I looked up the show, Sisyphus, and checked on the PD and the writers.
I find that I’ve watched 6 of this PD’s works. Among them, Doctor Stranger was one of the worst shows I’ve ever encountered, but the others were not all that bad, although they do not feature among my favourites either. The writers have only done a couple of other shows before, and are relatively new. I’ve not watched anything they wrote.
To watch more Jo Seung Woo, I’ll be happy to try Sisyphus. As for Park Shin Hye, it’s tough for her to be a believable soldier. She somehow does not have the ‘soldier look’, if you know what I mean.
Cast:
Park ShinHye: You know that I like her, GB!!! I find her kind of beauty “relatable.” That little cleft on her nose reminds me of a puppy’s wet nose. She reminds me of a girl-next-door, a Ms Jill Average who gets into these fantastic adventures to test her mettle. I’m sure she’ll prepare for this role, so I’m looking forward to see what she can do with it.
Jo SeungWoo: I don’t know anything about this guy but I’m willing to be dazzled. I think I’m going to fall in love with his “voice.”
Episodes: 16
Start Date: Wednesday, Feb 17
Airs every Wednesday and Thursday
Original Network: jTBC
Where to Watch It: supposedly Netflix
4. Dear.M
Synopsis from mydramalist.
“Dear.M” will tell the story of the campus-wide search for the mysterious “M,” an individual who is mentioned in an anonymous post on a Seoyeon University online community. The realistic romance drama will follow the changing relationships and budding romances between various characters in the wake of all the buzz about “M.”
Ma Joo Ah is a 2nd year student in the Business Administration Department at Seoyeon University. She has a warm heart and bright personality. She is not interested in pursuing a dream or having a romantic relationship. She has never had a boyfriend before.
Cha Min Ho is a 2nd year student in the Computer Science Department at Seoyeon University. He has a talent for developing apps with innovative ideas. He is bold and cheeky, but also has a serious side. He has been friends with Ma Joo Ah for 12 years.
Seo Ji Min is a student in the Economics Department at Seoyeon University. She is also a member of the schools cheering squad.
Park Ha Neul is a student in the Business Administration Department at Seoyeon University and he is an honorary ambassador for the university. He is Cha Min Ho’s roommate along with Gil Mok Jin.
Comments:
Isn’t this like the search for the mysterious lady writer in “Bridgerton” series? Since this will involve guessing the identity, I’m sure there’s going to be a huge fanwar again. Sigh. I don’t know if my blog can withstand another one of these dramas.
The period in the title “Dear.M” irritates me. I periodically (lol) see that grammar mistake in letter salutations. I think that could be a clue to the letter writer. His/her English isn’t that strong.
I hope this drama is fluffy enough that I don’t have to think about it.
Cast:
I don’t know any of these kids except Bae HyunSung.
Jaehyun
Park Hye Soo
Noh Jung Ui
Bae Hyun Sung: this kid was the younger brother of Baek Kyung on “Extraordinary You,” and he was the twin brother on “Hospital Playlist. He looks squeaky clean like Park BoGum.
Episodes: 12
Start Date: Friday, Feb 26, ONCE A WEEK!!! (Just like “Zombie Detective”)
Original Network: KBS2
Where to Watch It: Viki
credit: soompi
February should be an interesting month for kdramas. I was expecting more lightness and fluff. I’ll have to look into Chinese dramas for “fun” dramas.
1. Love Scenery
An inspiration story about mutual growth and love follows a singer and a 4th year computer major.
Liang Chen and Lu Jing are two people who shine in their respective fields. Through the purest, most beautiful sound, Liang Chen aims to bring good music to her audience. Lu Jing who loves computing and analytics is highly recognized for his work in the study of complex human behaviors. A popular gamer himself, he is Liang Chen’s loyal fan and her junior at school. Two people who were originally strangers chasing after their own dreams cross paths.

Comments:
If you watched “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” then you’ll want to watch this Cdrama for the male lead.
Episodes: 35 (!!!)
Starts on Friday, Jan 29
Subbed?? I don’t know if this will be available on Youtube. If it’s on YT, then I expect 4 episodes per week. If it’s on Viki, however, I’ll watch this sometime in March. Subbers at Viki slow in uploading Cdramas, but hey!! I’m slow uploading my reviews anyway so I cut them some slack.
I plan to watch #2 for the Catherine of Aragon feel. I have also been watching Run On and was wondering if anyone else was. There’s an interesting role reversal on the second lead couple that I’ve gotten a kick out of.
I look forward to the posts on any of these, as they often prompt me to watch (or not) even if I hadn’t planned to initially. Thank you again for creating this space!
I vote for Sisyphus and sageuk!!!😁😁😁. As for LUCA, I like the FL in WWW: Search so I mayyyyyybe will give this a try.
Most of these dramas having kick ass FLs. 2021 is girl power year?🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ll probably find LUCA and Sisyphus more up my street than the others which have been suggested. I’ve got to admit that I’m intrigued by the reference to the Greek myth, and anything to do with the concept of the survival of the fittest could be interesting. So threads on these two will be appreciated.
By-the-by, it was Darwin, I think, who pointed put that the human eye structure is rather unsatisfactory and, ocularly unfit as we are, we’d have done better with lizard eyes.
I will probably check out the sageuk and wait for word of mouth for the others.
Actually I think it is the current shows that will end in feb to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Shows like Love in the City and A Love So Beautiful. I am curious about Sisyphus for watching with my husband who prefers action shows.
Watched Noh Jung Ui in “18 again” (she was True Beauty Seojun’s crush in that show). Didn’t realize she started acting as a child and acted in a wide variety of movies/dramas. Will want to check out Dear M because of her.
I’m thinking the only one calling my name is Sisyphus but not going to lie not that excited about any of these. Dear M I’m biased and have to watch because of Jaehyun (yes I’m a kpop fan girl haha) so yeah. I also wanted more fluffy lovestories in February.
Re : Dr Stranger. I wouldn’t use that drama as the acid test for the PD. Rumor has it that the writer and PD had disagreements about how the story should play out. Their differences came to light in a post drama interview. I read the drama recaps in DramaBeans – that was more entertaining than the actual drama itself so that says something.
I agree about Park ShinHye. There’s a wholesomeness about her that I like.
I am going to start River Where the Moon Rises and Sisyphus.
Hi @pkml3, thanks and great that you’ve got this thread out already. I am curious about the shows, and may watch most of them at least until something annoys me, but what I hope to complete is Sisyphus.
Between L.U.C.A and Sisyphus, let’s say, I’m more certain that the leads will annoy me less in Sisyphus, LOL. Yes I’ve watched Lee Da Hee and Kim Rae Won before.
I’ve watched Park Shin Hye is quite a few shows: You’re Beautiful, Heartstrings, The Heirs, Pinocchio, The Doctors, M of the Alhambra … I don’t know: it’s not that I dislike her but she does not ‘wow’ me. Maybe the hype around her and her girl-next-door ‘look’ has done her a disservice. I do not expect much from her and therefore if she does as well as Suzy Bae has done in Start Up, I’ll be happily and pleasantly surprised and will give her the kudos.
However I have no doubts about the ML.
Dear M / Dear.M – Seriously, there was a full-stop between the Dear and the M? Well, by all means the younger actors must be given more opportunities to hone their craft. Hmmm, … I could make a sentence out of ‘Dear.’ as when I’m being serious with the hubby LOLOL.
Love Scenery – Well, for something light, yes. I may watch this. However time is the determinant!!
Thanks for this list @pkml3!
Character teaser for River Where the Moon Rises. No subs but I like what I see so far. I am getting MuLan and Eowyn vibes. 😂
https://twitter.com/kdrama_news/status/1352409978603098113?s=21
I saw this drama teaser on twitter and I went and check the summary what is spiritual extramarital affair lol 🤣
Love Scene Number
23-year-old Doo Ah is a university student majoring in psychology. She is involved in a secret polyamorous relationship with three men.
While 28-year-old Ha Ram is an elementary school teacher who runs away from her own wedding after undergoing a sudden change of heart.
35-year-old Ban Ya is an adjunct instructor at a university, and
42-year-old Chung Kyung is a furniture designer who discovers that her husband of 20 years is having a spiritual extramarital affair.
Hi Packmule3, thanks for giving us the list to watch for next month.
I also worried about the change format to seasonal in Kdrama since netflix. I actually prefer to watch the non seasonal format. Seasonal gives me anxiety.. if somehow they couldn’t make the next season, then the story will be unfinished.
On Kang Ha Neul in drama #2, yes he will be the Cameo. I remembered that He and Son Ye jin previously was offered to be the main leads but due to his busy filming schedule he had to refuse. But I think he respects the production team so much that he agreed to appear as the Cameo. I am interested to the story, maybe I will watch it.
Thanks for the Sisyphus trailer too. I am hooked! I’m definitely going to watch this.. I like the main leads too.
@IcedFireAngel: I just watched Run On last week, and I am attracted to the second couple as well. The character of the female is a little annoying/irritating, but somehow I found that the male could influence her to be a better person. They are weirdly cute. Lol.
@GB: I previously also didn’t “wow” at Park Shin Hye’s acting in those dramas. But I started to see her from a different point of view since I watched her movies. I think she is more ‘wow’ in movies than in the dramas. But seeing the trailer of Sisyphus, I said to myself.. Could it be the drama that could really show her true strength in acting? Let’s try to watch it.. 😀
“secret polyamorous” relationship with three men? EWWWWWWWW. She and the men better get tested for STDs. Gross.
And what the heck is “spiritual extramarital affair” — he visits graveyard of a dead girlfriend? the convent to visit a nun?
According to asianwiki, this is written by somebody named Hong Kyung Sil. Is this a newbie writer? And who green-lighted this project? This is a disaster in the making.
Ack…here was I trying to work out which of the 4 mentioned dramas had spiritual extramarital affairs in it 😂 wondering if I had somehow missed reading an updated synopsis of LUCA or Sisyphus. Until I reread @Ella’s post and realized it was for none of them.
Not going to lie, when the title Sisyphus The Myth came out and little was revealed about the drama save the 2 leads linked to it, I was half expecting a drama which delved into the futility of life or some existential argument. But when the trailer came out I was…how should I put this…surprised? It looked more like an action thriller with none of the depth I was anticipating? I guess we will see what the writer has to offer us. I really hope it does better than Alice with the time travel component.
Anything has got to be better than Alice. Without a doubt, Alice lowered the bar for time traveling kdramas. 😂😂
Agree moonstar512. If the kdrama doesn’t get approved for season 2, then we’re left hanging unless of course the writer has a plan B on how to close it.
I’m not sure what happened to “Vagabond” but I heard it ended with a cliffhanger too. Not sure if Lee Seunggi and company were angling for Season 2.
Will see how Sisiphus goes. Crossing my fingers that it’ll be good. I don’t mind if there’s no romance between leads. I’m only asking for a coherent and engaging screenplay. That’s not too much, right? 😂
@packmule3 @nrllee
the show summary for Love Scene Number is just too funny and disastrous for me not to share here lol..
On Vagabond, the ending/opening was written with Season 2 planned according to what I read. But not sure if it will come to fruition for a few reasons, the current situation, the sky high production cost, and it was not performing as well as what they hoped.
One more show I’m looking forward to is Vincenzo with Song Joong-ki and Jeon Yeo-bin.
I don’t think I will watch LUCA. Nam Goong Min was so swoony in Awaken, that makes KRW’s ahjumma haircut hard to watch. It’s kinda the same plot with ML with super powers.
River Where the Moon Rises : I will watch it for KSH! She looks great. But I’m not a fan of JiSoo…
Sisyphus : I like both actors, so I guess it will depend how they handled the time travel plot. The filming is over, I think, so I can hope for a good postproduction.
Hello Ladies,
As I have said to the previous blog post thread I am rooting for:
#1 L.U.C.A. The Beginning & #3 Sisyphus the Myth.
I am also interested @Juriel, to see how they have used the greek myth.
FYI, they have used the greek letter Σ (Sigma) on the promotional poster.
https://www.hellokpop.com/kdrama/sisyphus-the-myth-cho-seung-woo-park-shin-hye-teasers/
I haven’t encountered the main actors before, so I don’t know what to wait or not wait.
Also, #2 River where the Moon rises seems promising.
Sisyphus seems interesting. Thanks For the teasers! From geek to Greek! Look like we will have another engineer genius ML. And PSH’a role is not the girl next door type here so it will be a change. Doesn’t she look like Suzy (or the other way around) in some angles? I often mistake them for each other.
So many dramas, so little time!
after Alice… I am thinking really hard on LUCA kekekekek… Alice…hesh!
Give me a genius engineer anytime of the day, Janey! They’re the Leonardo da Vinci of our time. So tired of these chaebols, CEOs and supermarket and hotel owners in kdramas.
Before, I would have trouble telling Susie and PSH apart. But after Memories of the Alhambra and Start-Up, I can see now that Suzie is prettier. 😂
As long as Suzy doesn’t do aegyo, I don’t mind her acting. She can deliver what she needs to deliver. It’s when the director tells her to do cutesy stuff that’s out of place given the situation her character is in, i.e., in Vagabond, she was in an all men’s prison doing “aegyo” to Lee Seunggi, that makes me want to box her ear. 🤨
Start-Up suited her style. I can’t imagine her doing dramas like Mr Queen, Hotel del Luna or Psycho But It’s Okay any time soon though. 😈
When I saw that Σ (Sigma) sign it gave me flashbacks (horrible) of Alice. They had that tattoo thing with Greek symbols as well. One of them was Σ (Sigma). I think there was Omega too. But at least with Sisyphus it makes sense because it is Greek mythology.
The teaser for River Where the Moon Rises seem to depict an idyllic time where the Princess is a commoner? Did she pull a Jonah and try to run away from her responsibilities to “live the quiet life” with her lover? Only to be called back out of necessity? Or revenge? There was a scene where she is seen cradling her said lover’s head (he looks to be unconscious or dead?). But I am ahead of myself. Best to let the story unfold and just run with it. Hopefully it’s a worthwhile watch and I get to the end of it.
So I went researching River Where the Moon Rises and it’s based on a classic Korean folktale. About Princess PyeongGang and the woodcutter OnDal. Scroll down the linked page. It’s a delightful read. I don’t know if there’s more to it. It seemed to end rather abruptly. And nowhere was there talk about the Princess donning war paint ala MuLan/Eowyn. But the screenwriter may have taken liberties and added those layers…maybe after OnDal’s death.
https://post.naver.com/viewer/postView.nhn?volumeNo=27056727&memberNo=46502015
^ Sorry spoiler alert 🙄… reminds me of my nephew who worked in a cinema checking tickets. He used to glance at the tickets and say to the patrons entering, “O that’s a great show! Shame he dies”. 😂
No worries about spoilers. If this was a classic Korean folktale then we should know the ending anyway. 🙂
I am not watching Dear.M for sure. It irritates me that it was advertise as spinoff of the webdrama “Love Playlist” where Bae Hyunsung and Kim Saeron were the 2nd leading couple. I thought Dear.M would be the continuation of their love story. Instead we got new characters and new setting than the webdrama, and Bae Hyunsung and Kim Saeron’s characters are still 2nd leads!
As a result, Kim Saeron backed out of the project. And Noh Jung Ui replaced her. I’m fine with Jung Ui, I’ve seen her in 18 again.
This could have been Bae Hyunsung’s chance to be a lead. But it’s really frustrating when this drama is supposed to be a spinoff. They should’ve promoted this as an entire new drama.
I’m watching this cdrama romcom A Girl Like Me starring Guan Xiaotong and Huo Minghao. It’s about a girl of noble birth who is engaged 3 times but the engagements fell through because of circumstances involving the girl’s quirky, fun, and free behavior. She’s not like the modest and proper lady, of course. Her family is wealthy and powerful but naive.
Okay here’s the plot summary retrieved from Mydramalist:
“The beautiful Ban Hua has skirted marital bliss three times. Her straight-shooting manner and explosive temper ensured that each relationship ended in disaster and divorce – despite her being well-meaning and thoughtful deep down. Upon discovering that she can forecast the future in her dreams, she’s able to put her gift to good use by helping her family out of a really tight spot.
Her life changes forever when she meets Rong Xia, a young maverick, upon whose family a tragic fate has befallen them. Rong Xia is on the hunt for answers regarding the past, including clues to his true identity, a secret kept from him all his life. A partnership is formed, with Ban Hua determined to help Rong Xia learn the truth.
As their relationship deepens, could this be a case of ´fourth time lucky’ for Ban Hua?”
(Source: Viki)
I think I’m most excited about River Where the Moon Rises…which still isn’t a lot.
If you’re looking for a “fun” cdrama-I really enjoyed Love is Sweet. As long as you look at it through cdrama lens, I think it’s a good one. Their chemistry works and it’s actually interesting to see the business side of streaming. I live in the states and watched through IQIYI.
I watched a my first Tdrama so I don’t know how it compares to others, but it really was well made and I loved it way more than I thought I would-especially because I usually HATE time travel. It’s called Some day or one day and I watched on VIKI. Has anyone else seen it?
@Ella oh yes the Vincenzo.. I’m waiting for that too.. will it be aired on February? Ok Taecyon also starred on that drama too, right? I watched the female lead on Be Melodramatic and she’s quite good..
Wow so many to watch next month.. ☺️💪🏻
@moonstar512
Vincenzo is to air following Mr. Queen so in 4 weeks time. Yup Taecyeon also in it.
I haven’t watch Be Melodramatic but I saw her in K-movies and running man 😁
I’m not really drawn to any of the February shows, to be honest. I’m liking Run On because it has seemed to be different, and hope that it continues as it started and not descend into clichés. I’m looking forward to the Yang-Yang/Dilraba drama and may watch some older shows whilst waiting for HP2.
@Fern, Run On fan here too! Very drawn into their conversations and the second leads
Also, I’m curious about Love (Ft. Marriage And Divorce) which is on Netflix. I think it follows a similar storyline as World of Married and Penthouse? Anyway the first episode is out and I am not sure if I want to start it yet…curious but would appreciate any reviews if there’s any.
The leading lady and the writer (who wrote Fiery Priest) are the main reason for me to watch Vincenzo, oh and having Dr. Bong there is a bonus too :). I watched the trailer recently, featuring SJK. It failed to catch my interest, yet. I am hoping Jeon Yeon Bin won’t be the only one to carry the drama. She is really good in Be Melodramatic. Hyena and Defendant have raised the bar really high for me when it comes to legal thriller drama. Lawyer who worked with mafias – that is a mix of Hyena and the movie The Accountant i.e. professionals working for criminals. Am I convinced that SJK will nail this role? Not sure. His last drama I watched was Innocent Guy. His last movie was Battleship. I hope I won’t be disappointed.
I just realized I recommended Love is Sweet…that one is fine but I actually meant Something Just Like This. Oops!!!
@pkml3, I’m not sure where to post to make a request, so I’ll do so here. @Welmaris and I have been watching Lovestruck in the City and have some thoughts on the show that we thought to share on BoD. May we trouble you to please open a thread for us? Can’t post my nice emojis of cookies and snackies to bribe or thank you, LOL, but I don’t really think you need a bribe!
Sure thing, @ GB. 👍 Just as long as you and/or Welmaris curate the thread.
Give me about an hour to open the thread. I’m on my way home.
Thanks so much, my dear @pkml3. You’re so prompt and on the ball with checking on BOD. You know us. We’ll keep tossing in our thoughts as and when. ೭੧(❛▿❛✿)੭೨

Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that yesterday I finishes watching CLOY. I know that there is not an open thread about CLOY. So I will write some of my thoughts over here.
I really enjoyed the series. I prefered the first part in N.Korea than the second in S.Korea for portraying ethnographically the people in the village. The story wouldn’t be the same without the Ahjummas and the Dumplings.
The second part has really meaningful scenes regarding the things that needed to be said between Captain Ri and Se-Ri.
As for the ending I think it lacked in some parts, mostly because it was shooted in pre-production and there had a totally different vibe regarding our OTP.
I want to stand that CLOY is not primary a love story as we think.
For me, it is a political statement about what is happening in a country that is divided for political reasons.
How life is progressing for both countries.
How people are living in their respected towns.
We get to see the most inward emotions and battles: their anxiety, stresses, how they bond, what is really important in life.
How they could react in stressful and unlikely situations.
How some have a family by blood, while others create an extended family due to love, respect, unity.
How people are reacting in happy, bittersweet and life-threatening moments in life.
For all the reasons above, I think that CLOY is all that firstly and then our OTP’s love.
I have to add that Dan and Alberto’s love shouldn’t be that bittersweet. The actual time they really found each other, they lost each other. That was very disturbing to watch.
Lastly, I do hope that people will understand that we – human beings – are all inhabitants of this planet. That we all have our inner strengths and struggles. We bleed the same, we love the same, we laugh the same and we break the same.
Let’s not forget that. Let’s make this world a better place for ourselves and the next generations to come.
*Peace*
@Cleopatra Thanks for this nice reflection on CLOY. I liked the show while it lasted, but felt meh about the end, and agree with what you say. It’s weakest part was its conclusion, which is such a shame, since that colours one’s impression about the rest of the show somehow.
You’ve given us a good reminder, that people are more alike and akin than different, regardless of the barriers we place around ourselves or others. And nothing goes on to prove this as well as the pandemic does, where a tiny virus in it’s multiple mutations, can affect all of us in the same way. Yes indeed, let’s make this world a better place!

Kalimera @GB!
I tried to give CLOY a balanced opinion. That is justice for me.
Mostly because I expected more from the writers after the first half.
But, it is more useful for me to stand to what is important for us to remember and not to focus on what it didn’t work in the end.
If it was another story I wouldn’t even bother. But this story has so much backbone. And here I am, after I finished the TV-Series everyone was telling me to watch since last year and I have my own thoughts about it.
Is it the most memorable k-drama I have seen? No.
Is it the perfect reminder for people to see who we are? Yes.
This Pandemic made me more philosophical than ever. Mostly because we can all relate from the issues that were arisen. That is indeed a wake up call! 🙂
Good points, @ Cleopatra. Thanks.
I’ll try to open the last open thread of CLOY and transfer this comment of yours over there.
I should be home in less than an hour.
Thank you @Packmule3! 🙂
@Cleopatra – Lovely comment on CLOY; thank you. I agree completely with what you say. I’ll also add that the music score is is one of the best that has been composed for a k-drama. It’s unified through by the use of leitmotifs which add to the general depth of meaning. It also has one of the better-crafted villains (Cho Cheol-gang), and his relationship with Captain Ri goes much deeper than the usual surface conflict generally found in the genre.
@Cleopatra and @GB,
Your comments have been reposted on the CLOY: Eps 15 & 16 Open Thread. 🙂
http://bitchesoverdramas.com/2020/02/16/crash-landing-on-you-ep-16-open-thread/
Thank you @pkml3. I did see them posted there. @Cleopatra, You made good points, indeed.
@Juriel, your comment makes me want to go back to watch and listen for the leitmotifs, and re-examine the villain. ✩◝(◍⌣̎◍)◜✩
Thank you @packmule3 I have also seen them on CLOY thread!
@GB and @Juriel I am glad you liked them!
@Juriel, I haven’t heard the majority of instrumental music score. From what I remember though, you are right about the leimotivs and I have to rewatch it in order to notice it much better.
Let me share my thoughts about the music composition for “The Song for my Brother.” I love this piece of music. What do we know about Captain Ri? He loves Chopin’s – Nocturnes. I love those compositions as well.
So, here we have a music piece that let’s say communicates with Chopin’s music. The first part is dreamy like, yet the second one is more serious. This is how Jeong-Hyeok perceived his brother Mu-Hyeok.
If this music piece was a impressionist painting I would say that captures the face of Mu-Hyeok the moment before his death, while he was talking in the car about how much MH loves his brother and how happy he is for him that he is following his dream.
All the emotions are better captured in the scene with Man Bok, we simply witness HM death incident as a flashback, while MB was eavesdropping his friend existed in one moment and perished the other and how he cried silently for what happened.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNlkXRuPR5s
And that is what I have to say about this brilliant composition…
I’m not sure why I’m looking for new dramas since I’m actually a little behind on the dramas I started in December 😂
The list isn’t appealing I’ll be honest, I agree with everyone about wanting more fluffy dramas. Maybe they are saving it for spring/summer time 😪. Luca and Sisyphus are interchangeable in my head no matter how many times I’ve seen the trailers, also “The Silent Sea” with Bae Doona, Gong Yoo and Lee Joon. Seems like there’s a sci-fi theme this year. I also thought Sisyphus was a movie and not a drama.
I think I’ll watch them all and see which sticks. Tbh I find it’s the discussion on here that helps me make it through a drama 😊
*waves at everyone*
Kalimera from my part of the world. I just wanted to say hello and let’s have a nice February. It’s been a bit hectic these days, so I have been quiet.
I am starting tonight L.U.C.A. the beginning…! So, I will tell you tomorrow, if I am impressed or not…
Will open a thread for you Cleopatra for L.U.C.A. 👍
Thank you @packmule3!
Sending lots of cookies your way! 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
Hello!
Sysyphus looks like an explosive drama blockbuster. But beware, what you see on the trailer is one thing, but in the end, maybe it will be a soft and boring drama. If it’s as good as Vagabond, for me it will be a success. It’s not the kind of drama that requires thinking, but it’s addictive and successful in terms of nervousness, suspense and cliffhangers.
Park Shin Hye (big fish eyes) is a plus but I don’t feel she will be better than she was in MaO. I can’t imagine her as an action heroine because her strong point is her sensitivity and the ease with which she expresses her emotions with her big eyes. So, although I am one of the great fans of this actress, I have serious doubts about her suitability for the role.
GB : Hello how are you ? My opinion on PSH and Suzy Bay. In Start-up (I still have 2 episodes to see), I think PSH would have done everything better than Suzy, except for some scenes. There are even some scenes where Suzy has her hair like PSH. And I found myself forgetting that it was Suzy, I felt like I was seeing PSH because there was a physical resemblance and similar attitudes. I am not disappointed by Suzy despite everything. I don’t have any repulsion towards this actress like some people have. Besides, I liked all her dramas, so she doesn’t give me any problems, and I’m often more at ease in her company than with a risky actress. She always does the job and she’s charming! But in terms of performance as an actress, she doesn’t have the talent of PSH yet. Suzy still managed a good crying scene in episode 12, at the bus stop. But it was shot in a way to make things better. From a distance on some shots. However, the breath and the sincerity were more accurate than other scenes of the same kind with her.
That’s my opinion, but it’s not to be counted. I stopped watching the dramas on air and went back to my habit of watching the dramas once they are full. And I avoid reading any comments or reviews before that, so I don’t have to judge the drama while I’m watching it, and I just focus on the story, and at the end I can feel whether I was enthusiastic or not. That’s what I do for Start-up. And now I have a lot of Packmule3 articles to read about it. And I’ve read several already, good quality as usual, with details or connections that I hadn’t noticed. It’s very rewarding. Just the first article on Cyrano was excellent. Cyrano is one of the French classics, but by chance it is one of the classics that I don’t know. And although Gerard Depardieu played in an adaptation of the character, it’s also one of the rare Depardieu films I haven’t seen! (everything falls by the wayside). So I learned a lot from reading the article.
I watched the first episode of L.U.C.A. and haven’t yet been able to talk myself into watching further. My current frame of mind isn’t in a place to appreciate such fraught fare. So of all the other suggestions floated in this post, my choice is: none of the above. I’ve decided to watch Hot Stove League to see what beat Crash Landing on You for the Best Drama Award at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards. At that awards show, Hot Stove League also won the top spots for TV Best Actor, TV Best Director, and TV Best Screenplay. It also pulled in top awards in a number of other competitions. So I want to see what all the fuss is about. I am eager to keep watching after Episode 1, and that’s a good sign.
@Welmaris Hot Stove League is good. I loved it. I never expected to because I know next to nothing about baseball. But it just worked for me. It fascinated me, all the intricacies in the game. But it was the cast that really brought it home. It felt really authentic and the people in it felt real too. I really liked it.
@Wenchanteur
About Park Shin Hye, I agree with you. She generally lacks the ‘look’ for the rough, tough and ruthless fighter that a star warrior is ‘expected’ to have. Aside from looking messed up instead of neat, I’m watching to see what she can do to change her image in my mind, of her being ‘goody’ and a pushover.
I did not watch Vagabond and I’m likely to continue to think Suzy also has the ‘wrong’ look for a tough, action show.
I usually watch shows for the plot rather than for the actors or the PD or the writer. However, I do know that I like the ML actor, of Sisyphus whom I watched in Stranger 1 and Stranger 2. It will be interesting to see him portray a less reserved and introverted character.
I do the same about shows… I don’t read in advance, although I don’t mind spoilers. I’d like to see where the show takes me without being swayed by something I’ve read (or heard). I know there’s a lot to read about Start Up, but I’ve only read a couple or maybe 3 of the posts, and I think I’ll stop there for the time being.
LOL. In contrast to you, Gerard Depardieu is one of the very few French actors I’ve watched because of the Cyrano movie. I didn’t and still don’t know much about the original novel either.
I’m interested to check out River Where The Moon Rises. Not sure about the other dramas.
Thank you to everyone who sent prayers and positive vibes to me and my family. I am glad to report that we are all in recovery. It took 3 weeks, but my fever has finally gone and also most of my symptoms. I still have a cough and some breathing issues but I hope they will improve with time. My mother is no fever and most symptoms are gone. She still has respiratory issues and the doctor put her on an inhaler which she says helps. Hopefully she will be off the inhaler soon. My brother and uncle are now doing well, and my grandmother is OK. I truly do not wish this COVID on anyone-it was not an easy illness to get through. Please wear your masks and stay 6 feet apart-Stay safe everone!
Thank goodness you and your family are on the path to recovery @Table122000! Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing you post thoughts in future dramas.
@Table, good to hear that you and your family are doing much better and hoping that the worst is behind you now. Take care!!! Cheers!
Happy to hear you and family are doing well @Table.😊 Take care!
@Table122000 Congratulations! It’s a relief to know you are all recovering. Yes, this virus runs the whole gamut of no symptoms to dreadful sickness.
I’m following the advice of a long-term, reliable medic, ie. get: sunshine and Vitamin D, lots of ventilation, mask on, frequent hand washing and as much distancing as we can manage in our tight and crowded spaces.
On top of that, there’s been a study in Brazil that rinsing/gargling with mouthwash does a good job of reducing the viral load, reducing symptoms, and enabling the body to fight back better against any respiratory disease. The likelihood of requiring hospitalisation and medical intervention is reduced.
All relatively cheap and do-able and why not, for all the safe health benefits. (*^▽^*)
I come back here because I realize that I read between the lines and completely missed the drama that I certainly expect the most in this list.
2 – River Where the Moon Rises.
I didn’t realize that it was a drama with one of my favorite actresses: Kim So Hyun.
I just saw a few posters: she’s as pretty as ever!
I’m directly putting too much anticipation into this drama (and I might regret to be so enthousiastic), but I have the feeling that this is going to be the drama where she’s going to blow it all up!
Waiting for this ultimate role, I hired her myself to be one of my main characters, in an ultimate role!
http://w4worlds.fr/images/Ep07/IMG_07_RenBoHighSchool.jpg
Who else could take on this role? ^^
I liked this actress since I saw her in the roles of the child main lead, so a ton of dramas, look like she’s everywhere.
– She is very good in historical dramas as we could see in “Moon Embrace the Sun”, where the two child actresses are better than the adult actresses.
– She was unforgettable as a bitch in Rooftop Prince, although she only played in one episode. She was always good at playing bad girls. Even when she plays a nice girl, this girl has a bad temper (see: I hear your voice). Now, I big antagonist role could suit her, but halas, nothing coming.
– She was very good in most of her dramas with a leading role : Page Turner, School2015. And the 4 or 5 episodes where she occupies the main frame in While You Were Sleeping, making this drama better than it’s already is. (Cherry on the cake)
As I know the actress a little too well, I am also aware of her habits and repetitions in her way of acting (In Radio-Romance, she ends her lines by “sincha” every two sentences).
However, I have not found a drama where she had the lead role that was really extraordinary. At least for successful dramas, I would say “Goblin” but she only occupies the screen a few scenes.
In the end, my favorite drama of her was Let’s Fight Ghost, with a role that was counter to what she usually does. And in that kind of comedy, she was exceptional! Having cut out dozen of images of her for my photo-drama, I can confirm that she has an amazing range of facial expressions. She can make every face and aegyo imaginable. If you want to see something light, refreshing and with a good rhythm, I recommend this drama. No matter if it’s not the best drama you’ve ever seen in your life, one thing is certain: it’s a sure thing, a drama that’s incapable of disappointing.
Then, unfortunately, it’s a series of dramas that are too average or not strong enough, really not up to her abilities.
– Radio Romance: unless you’re a fan of the actress, nobody will go and see it.
– Love Alarm: an interesting idea, but it lacks scope.
– Tales of Nokdu: certainly her best recent drama. In any case, she can show her acting skills in it. But it’s not at all a thick and consistent historical drama like Empress Ki or Six flying dragons, for example.
Why doesn’t this actress have her ultimate drama? I just read an article saying that she changed management house. So River Where the Moon Rises is the first drama that her new manager offers her.
This is (for now) good news. Indeed, she really needed someone who could guide her on very big dramas.
Me again! ah ah!
I forgot this :
River where the moon rise screenwriter : Han Ji Hoon.
So I missed many drama of this writer but…
Road Number One !!!
Damn!
What can be more thick and consistent in kdrama history ?
If you watched this drama, you see what I mean. 😉
Look like River where the moon rise is in the best hand about the script, at least.
@Table122000, I’m so happy to know that you and your family are well underway to recovery. 🙏 I’ll keep praying for your cough and breathing issue to go away. Thanks for keeping us updated. 🤗
I’ll watch River Where The Moon Rises because I like KSH. ☺️
Oh Luca Pantini, indeed. 😍
@Table122000, I’m glad that you are better and hope that you and your family recover quickly. 🙏
@Table12200 I am glad we had news from! All the best for your and your family’s recovery!
Did anyone watch the film Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity at Netflix? It has been a very long time since I last watched a Chinese historical fantasy works. Watching this film brings back those memories. The cinematography, bgm, acting, action choreography all hits the right points for me. I am mesmerised by them. Fully satisfied. My fav duo is Boya x QingMing. Love them both and their teamwork. Ahhh.. such satisfaction is rare. kekeke.
Hey @Miracle23!
I did and I really enjoyed it! It was a nice movie to watch! I enjoyed all the things you pinpointed!
Next to my list is Space Sweepers!
Thank goodness, Table122000! 💐
Praying for your steady recovery. I’m sure you were the rock of your family, as always. Glad that the elderly members are doing better. Your grandmother is really a trooper. She’s survived so many health scares these past years. 🙂
Deng Lun!!!
I like Deng Lun, too. So that’s what he was doing all this time. I wondered where he went off to. He was unusually quiet.
Hey @Packmule3
He is quiet dashing I have to admit… *winks*
Hi Cleopatra! 🤗🤗🤗
So that is his name? Deng Lun? 🤭🤭🤭 he reminded me a lot of Ju Jong Suk. But of course I like this one better. Meanwhile, QingMing reminded me of Takeshi Kaneshiro. 🤭🤭🤭🤭Man, I feel so old already. It’s been so long since I last watched him😅 I grew up with the 4 Heavenly Kings i.e. Leon Lai, Andy Lau, Jackie Cheung and Aaron Kwok, and the next batch. Then I just stopped when the Japanese drama fever dropped by. Next was kdrama fever. Those old times…😁
Hey @Miracle23,
To be honest with you, I didn’t remember his name, until @Packmule3 said it above!
He played Bo Ya and I really liked him. Also QingMing was pretty good as well.
Well, the chinese film I remember is “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”.
Ooops… I don’t have old times, but I get you!
I am k-drama newbie, so the hype is kinda high for me! 😀
@Miracle23 and @Cleopatra: I happened to watch “Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity” last week, and thoroughly enjoyed it; it reminded me a little of the lengthy series “Untamed”. There was such elegance built into both the romance and the action sequences, and the graphics were excellent. Well worth the watching time.
I have just finished watching “Space Sweepers – Victory”. I’ll have to go through it again before I post a comment on the “Bitches” thread, but I’m well experienced in space opera, and know what should be there to satisfy my genre expectations. “Space Sweepers” does appear to tick a lot of boxes and it’s full of tropes – which is fine by me.
I was interested to discover that the director has written part of the screenplay. and that the film was released directly onto Netflix. I wonder, if it had been released through a formal theatre premiere, would it have earned its “blockbuster” status – perhaps not. Anyway, it’s being called “the first Korean space blockbuster”. I wonder what the next will be like?
@Table such great news! Glad to hear you and your loved ones are on the path of recovery. Will continue praying for you all.
@Table122000, thank you for updating us on the health status of your family so we can celebrate your recovery. May everyone in your family continue getting better and breathing easier.
@nrllee, I’m loving Hot Stove League. It’s a well-done ensemble piece, with many familiar faces. After this show, actors went on to The King: Eternal Monarch, Tale of the Nine Tailed, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Do You Like Brahms?, and some others I’ve watched this year. The lead actress in HSL, Park Run Bin, was also the female lead in DYLB, but is feisty and outspoken in HSL. Oh Jung Se, who played Sang Tae in PBIO, plays a full-of-himself 3rd generation chaebol heir with less-than-good intentions. He looks and behaves so differently, which drives home the fact that he worked hard in PBIO to portray the mannerisms of someone on the autism spectrum: lowered head, tucked chin, furtive eye movement, etc. I believe he received a Best Supporting Actor award for his role in PBIO.
@Juriel, in the space genre, I’m looking forward to The Silent Sea starring Gong Yoo, Bae Doona, and Lee Joon. It will only be released on Netflix.
@Welmaris. Thank you for the heads up on The Silent Sea. I’ve bookmarked it because I’m very interested in how the Scifi genre has developed in S. Korea.
Thanks to Everyone for the Well Wishes and continued prayers and positive vibes as me and my family continue to recover from COVID. I’m so thankful to you all. I’m looking forward to checking out River Where the Moon Rises. The trailers look good! I think it’s a Viki exclusive where I am, so it’s going to be a while for the subtitles, sigh.
I just heard a review on the radio about the Korean movie Minari which has been nominated for a Golden Globe. With a PG rating, it relies on good story telling to win the audience. It’s about a migrant family (from Korea) in Arkansas in the 1980s. Solid cast. I hope to watch it on the big screen. I will see if daughter dear wants to accompany me.
@nrllee, was it 103.2FM that you heard it from? That’s where I heard it the other day. It was the title that stuck on my mind, Minari. ☺️ I saw the trailer and I agree, it looks solid and very interesting. Definitely a family movie.
“Minari” reminds me of the “maesaengi” farm that Chulsan had. He wanted to use their app to protect the plants from duck invasion. 🤣
I googled it. Minari tastes like parsley??
😂 duck invasion!
I like parsley. 😁
Ah sorry, this is what you meant by Minari. This is an excerpt from a reviewer.
‘And she plants a batch of minari—a Korean plant that grows almost anywhere and can be used in just about any dish—on a riverbank. It thrives there, and the plant serves as something of a metaphorical encouragement: Even far removed from its native soil, minari can grow and thrive.’
Yes.
The minari plant in the film “Minari” was going to be grown by the Korean family and harvested for commercial sale. Just like Chulsan’s family had a maesaengi farm (from Ep 7) and he wanted a software app to detect ducks and deter ducks from eating their produce.
I want to watch it but it’s not showing near my area. I didn’t realise from the trailer that that’s the Minari. ☺️
Ah I think I vaguely remember Chul-san mentioning that. It’s a seaweed, maesaengi.😊
Minari will be available thru A24 website and thru Amazon by Feb 20. It’s a transportable plant, something that can grow anywhere, like how immigrants uproot themselves and live in another place, and hopefully thrive there. Great title!
The nomination in Golden Globes created a stir because it’s under foreign language category instead of Best picture due to an old rule of using 50% non English but it’s as American as it can be – the cast (Korean-Americans), director/writer, crew, producers, even the immigrant story is representative of a diverse America.
NYT had a good interview of Steven Yeun that made me curious about the movie, even before their nomination. Will watch it when it’s available for streaming.
Yes @agdr03. It was that radio station. It sounds like something I would enjoy. I liked Parasite but it was a bit dark for me? It wasn’t something that I walked away from “heart warmed”. It just left me in a thoughtful mood.
@nrllee i thought i am the only one who thought parasite was giving me the dark mood. I watched Minari and I love it so much. I remember that it was giving me a heartwarming feeling after watching it. I cried of course but in a good way. Haha maybe also because I love family movies that I could relate to many emotions in several scenes..
I hope you guys here will like Minari too. Please share to us after you watched it 😊
Here’s the teaser for Jang Dong Yoon’s Joseon Exorcist. I’m not sure I’m game to watch it. 😬 I wish his next drama to be a romcom again.
https://www.soompi.com/article/1454892wpp/watch-jang-dong-yoon-and-kam-woo-sung-are-determined-to-defeat-the-undead-in-haunting-new-teaser-for-joseon-exorcist
@nrllee, for you. ☺️
https://mydramalist.com/article/exo-s-do-kyung-soo-confirmed-to-star-in-a-taiwanese-movie-remake
@agdr03 he’s (KyungSoo) is picking good meaty projects post military. I really like it. Will be watching both movies based on the synopses alone. That Taiwan made movie Secret was iconic. I hope the Korean version is just as good. Actually before that, I really hope the female lead picked doesn’t disappoint.
@moonstar512 thanks for letting me know about Minari. I had a feeling it will be one to tug at the heartstrings (but in a good way). Thanks @packmule3 for the research on the Minari plant. So it’s allegorical. I like it already. Daughter dear seems keen so we’ll hit the cinemas next week to catch it.
@nrllee, I hope so too that KyungSoo’s leading lady in Secret will be a good one. 🤞🏻 I’ll watch it when it’s available. I’m looking forward to his solo album too. ☺️
Okay I just finished watching Minari (I didn’t wait till next week). And here are the reasons why I recommend it.
1. I could actually understand a lot of the Korean. Go me. It helped that my daughter was beside me and I could casually whisper my questions to her, even though I didn’t really need to because there were subs.
2. I cried at the end. And so did my daughter (that’s saying something). Not sobbing wailing type cry. But enough to warrant a hasty retreat to the toilet post movie in the guise of “needing to go”.
3. My daughter came away with the moral lesson. She got it without me having to prompt her. 👍
4. It didn’t shy away from reality. Or try to be politically correct. If progressives think some of it is racist, heck that’s their problem. That was just how it was during that time. I had my fair share of ChingChongChang. It didn’t make it right but surprise! I survived.
5. There’s chicken vent sexing in it. As a job. We discussed this in the comment section when I announced my homesteading adventures. If that’s not a sign I don’t know what is. 🙂
To be honest I was a bit worried that my daughter would find it boring. It wasn’t your usual mystery thriller, nor did it have unusually beautiful people in it (although Han YeRi is just phenomenal, I couldn’t take my eyes off her), or sweet romance. So it was with a big sigh of relief that she summarized her thoughts about the movie…and it was a proud mama moment. It was exactly what I got out of it. 🥰.
You had me at chicken sexing, nrllee. 😂😂 I remember talking about your chicks.
What happened to the ugly runt?
Glad your daughter got the salient point. This could be a “family watch”/bonding time.
Okay. Will watch this but have to make a note to bring tissues. 🤧
Ugly has morphed into a swan…of sorts. She reminds me of the Ahjummas in R88 with the permed hair 😂
https://i.ibb.co/jJDfXwY/266-C2-F7-C-CAF4-4-EC1-85-CC-BDCDD059591-E.jpg
I’ll watch Minari when it becomes available.
@nrllee, great photo of Ugly grown up. Bouffant hair. 😄
Minari just won at Golden Globes. Best Foreign Film. Controversial that it ended up in that category because it’s actually made in America but whatever. Parasite won in this category too last year. I hope it gets nominated for an Academy Award (or have the nominations already come out?). I would like a movie that doesn’t have sex or violence or gore win. It would be a nod to family values winning. ❤️
Yay! Congratulations to the Minari team!!! I was rooting for them. It’s now available for streaming in Amazon prime.
O my goodness. This is possibly the cutest thank you speech. Alan Kim for Minari. Well deserved. 🥰

@nrllee, thank you. You and Alan Kim made my day.
Hong sisters and Lee JaeWook. Interesting.

Hey Everyone!
I wanted to post this on TKEM threads but comments are closed,
so here is one FMV Felicity Queen did on our favorite couple!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM0YykuCjJ4
P.S. @Packmule3, can you open a newest post about the new Tv Series we should watch ?
@Cleopatra, thanks for sharing that. Watching the compilation brought back memories and emotions from when I was immersed in that world.
@Welmaris,
You are welcome! I was really touched by this FMV! Glad you liked it too!
Thank you, Cleopatra. That was a wonderful FMV. I love that song, too. I first heard the song as the music for a dance MV for Ten & Win Win.
