Hey @Cleo, no fever … feeling achey all over, brain feeling dull and slow. I did get sneezing fits and sniffles. It’s more like a cold or what I call the ‘usual flu’ that was quite common here, because we are rather a crowded place. The consistent and widespread mask wearing seems to have reduced incidence of flu, but there are some periods of flu-eeyness and this seems to be one of them. I heard of a few other friends being sick as well.
My daughter had the flu too and was tested negative for Covid. I guess I may have picked up a bug from her.

The twins are the opposite of DS… they praise 2STO sky high the way alex expected DS to but he didn’t LOL. They are preapred to ditch their company and take all his conditions, but DS wants to add his own conditions. DS obviously has the upper hand!!

It’s a good thing he went to the USA. It was a bummer that Dalmi had to stay behind. But I didn’t get why she didn’t want a long-distance romance. All I could think of was it hurt her pride that she was “fired,” and I know who to thank for that.

I like that JP does have more consideration now after he becomes aware and recalls how harsh he was. He said to YS’s brother: “That’s a bigger problem. If you were trying to secure funding knowing that, it’s fraud.” (That’s going a bit far. Why should it be fraud when he didn’t mislead.)
@pkml3 I agree that the 3 year hiatus was good. YS was was blocking JP from calling DM to tell her not to sign. However he should have been around to advise during and after the Demo Day.

Aquisitions are not that easy and you have be part of one to know the details. If you are not in the department that handdles the contracts you cannot know much.
I love that part of Start-Up it reminds me the days I was studying for my first degree on BA.
Good that DM is not beholden to In Jae even for anxiety pills. In Jae this time looks more anxious.

Another subtle declaration of love from Dosan to Dalmi… Though the founder n tech brain of Samsan Tech, Dosan acknowledged n reassured Dalmi of her vital role again here… He never gave up on Dalmi either way.
LOL 666 being the number for evil. My husband has a t-shirt with 333 (half evil LOL).
Only person who’d hi-5 with DS is DM. She’s come around to being ok because of his words of confidence in her.
GOOD use of simultaneous alternating conversations. It shows how far DS and DM are on the same page as opposed to Sa Ha and Chul San. It also shows that SH and CS are on the same page with each other… pre-figuring their future getting together.

The Chulsan-Dosan and Saha-Dalmi talk… Gave as a preview how each couple is so in synch and how they think alike. I wish we saw a double date or something in the drama. It would have been cute.

lol. The fight in the elevator between Youngsan and JP — I have this image of Seohae’s dad fighting the bad guy in the elevator (Sisyphus).
I can’t believe that YS controlled himself all this time. He wouldn’t have lost his temper had JP not flashed that smug face of his.
I think It was a sisterly gesture though for Injae to offer the anxiety to DM since she was looking for it. It’s good though that DM does not need it. DS words breaks through her feeling fraud and she is confident again.
It never made sense Dalmi having feelings for Mr Han.
LOL Chul San tricked DS that DM was with JP.
Good that in the end of that conversation, YS joins in and they don’t go for the easy way out. DS and DM are not in the same place but they have the same thoughts on Plan B.

I think Dalmi was trying to persuade him gently at first, but Dosan was adamant in staying because he didn’t want to leave Dalmi behind.
The acquisition contract was most likely fine, good price and such but what they did not anticipate was like any other company acquisition, redundant jobs are eliminated and 2STO did not need the two.

Of all the events they held in that auditorium, I don’t know why on demo day the place was empty. LOL! It was supposed to be a big event watched even by investors all over the world.
Right, GB? I like how seamless the two dialogues were put together. It was effective in showing the viewers that the Dosan and Dalmi were on the same wavelengths, and that SaHa and Chulsan had identical personalities. It looked as if Dalmi and Dosan were completing each other’s thoughts (like a long-married couple) though they were in different areas.
Great writing by Park Hye-ryeon, and great editing, too.
@Diane, Probably it was being telecast live therefore people could watch from elsewhere. So the hall was empty… but DS’s dad managed to get in. Bad security.
@Cleo Agree that on Yoo SuBin, talent actor.

Well, I took mostly Marketing modules. So, I am more marketing-oriented.
I liked it that way.
I was told by my Professors to do an MBA but the crisis started over here so I couldn’t go abroad as I wanted.
Then, I decided to persue a different major al together in humanities studies.
Now, I have to decide with Master Degree I want to do next.

And now we are at the scene where DS’s Dad gets inspiring. I like how he’s putting into practise that they should not be each other’s pride and joy… what DS had asked his dad for. We see the meeting of eyes and mind between father and son.
Dosan’s dad fight for what he believes in, i think Dosan’s determination comes from his dad.

But what JP did was insinuate that she was “fired” because of her “ineptitude.” She didn’t measure up to the standards of the San Francisco office so she was let go.
It was how JP framed — or contextualize — the situation and her dismissal.
@PM3 Yeah so many scenes in the whole drama where we saw the great writing of PHR and great editing/directing by OCH.
@GB I just find it weird. Didn’t feel like a big event. And yes, super bad security in Sandbox considering the dad got in, the employee from the security company who threw an egg to Injae got in, as well as the reporter who didn’t have an appointnment with SST! Dir Yoon should fire her workplace security team. LOL!
Dosan’s father inspiring speech ending words ‘…the ideal pace of innovation.’ Hmm… the ideal pace of innovation, maybe substitute pace with place or function? Imo, tech innovation’s ideal pace should be fast n furious 🤨
@Cleo true… I wonder if DM had those words in her speech already or was inspired by DS’s dad. He heard her and nodded his head in approval. All set for parental approval of their future marriage LOL.
I like this father and son meeting as equals.
I like DS dad scene on the right pace of innovation. No one is wrong or right on this but more of a balance.
Come to think of it, Even noongil does balance – middle ground of accuracy and usability (reduce size due to battery life ).

Great scene and message with Dosan’s dad in demo day. Brought a tear to my eye…
Very inspiring scene.. Finally Dosan is free and his relationship with his dad is improving. He needed in order to move forward.
Best decision not to lie. I love that Dosan was not pressured by his teammates and stuck to his guns. They won demo day fair and square!

And DoSan’s dad saw that his son is trying to HELP others…!
I like that previously DS had decided to be honest about the figures. He knew well what it was like to ‘cheat’ since he was a kid filled with guilt.
“92.4 % is pretty good. Bumping up the figures will make the 92.4% look fake.”
I like that DM answered first and then DS takes up the mic to corroborate and explain.
DoSan’s self esteem rose after he made up with his Dad…
“That little bit will make the 92.4 percent look fake” –> Very well said! Spoken from the heart and through his experience as the fake Dosan who wrote the letter.

Now we come to round 2 of the hackathon, so to speak. The twins were so confident that if their’s could not work then neither could DS’s program. They were so wrong.
Dosan is the kind who learned his lesson and using it to level up, it’s funny how everyone keep saying he doesn’t have what it takes to be a leader/ceo but each time during crucial moments sst always listened to his opinion, they all look up to him. Also he always let Dalmi make the final decision and support her.
Best scene at the beating of In Jae’s company … with the low resources they could beat them and showed and evengreater accuracy rate than In Jae’s!!

Innovation in itself is neutral. It’s how we use it that has a moral implication. So as long as all the parties or “stakeholders” know what’s going on, then they can compromise.
My brothers and I often find ourselves on opposite sides of an “issue.” Given the nature of our jobs, we have no choice but to defend our clients to the best of our abilities. But as long as there’s no malice or malfeasance involved — or sore loser attitude, lol — I’m fine grappling with them over issues. That’s how I view this Dosan and Dad scene.
DS lied LOL He says that he knew it would work but his behaviour before that showed that he was afraid it wouldn’t.

I still can’t get over this scene or I dunno if it was the translation. Dosan didn’t look too confident and he said so himself that he is not sure if it will work… but in the end he said he knew it will work. Hahaha my OC-ness is bugging me.

Everyone including Dosan states that he cheated during the exam. He did not cheat, he did not have the answers on his sleeve, he did not peek at someone elses desk, no, he simply noticed one line on a piece of paper that suddenly fell right next to him. Did it help him yes (broke the mental block), did he cheat no, he still had to create the correct solution for the problem. Plus his answers to the questions must of been better than the boy behind him, because after all Dosan got the highest score. To bad he was so young and carried such guilt for an innoncent event.
JP’s words came to bite him in the butt…LMAO!
JP : “No one will be stupid enough to invest in your company.”
“The more users, the higher the cost, who’d invest in this?”
I’m in two minds about JP’s words. He was harsh with SST, but although he seems to be proven wrong, … still not quite because Alex doesn’t want the money losing company or NoonGil, but only the engineers.
Love the pictures.. and how our Dalmi and Dosan were looking at each other in that final shot.
The flashback of JP — Ha! He deserves to feel rotten at that moment (Sorry I’m so bad).
Grandma is too sweet … mum is in the house!!! DM holds a great grudge against mum. So she’s got another hurdle to get over in her self development.
We hear from DS’s parents that dad hit on mum at work LOL. Dad approves of DM.

DS sneakily says: “Dad teach me how to cross that line between personal and professional life.” LOLOL
Dad: “Hold on. He must have heard everything.”
Mum being smarter : “That’s not important. He’s saying he’s interested in that CEO girl.”
Logically, in Dosan’s mind, their app should work – better than Injae company. But it’s hard to assess if it will work exactly on raspberry pi device since it was not tested there. So happy it worked!!!
Hahaha. I thought so, too. He was “bluffing.”
I think, “technically” he knew the app would work, but as he said in Episode 8, “You never know….from a power outage to hacking, all kinds of things can happen, and there’s nothing you can do. That’s why they should always back up.”
So here, he knew his program should work in theory. But he hadn’t tried it yet given those parameters. So he was backing it up with some extra tweaking of the codes.
@David Brawley true, the poor kid DS was mistakenly carrying a guilt for nothing and his clueless parents didn’t help by putting him on a pedestal to show him off constantly. So he could never break their hearts by coming ‘clean’ so to speak.
@GB The dad-mom-Dosan scenes are always the best. Dosan was indeed lucky for having great parents compared to JP who has no one.
Good that DM has not caught on and does not accept that JP is out with friends. She knew he was sick at home and lying to her.
It was gracious of her to thank him as if he’d helped. He was finally honest. He’d only nitpicked and not helped.

Love how all of them recognise that DM as CEO could have more good ideas and gave her a hearing. They each had ideas for their individual selves… what they’d do with the money. But DM had an idea for the team to work together again. A visionary and a leader. And I really like how all of them worked on the idea together, throughout the night. What a novel way to celebrate a win!!!

I love the old office scenes. This is SST as a team, even Saha is in. Everyone will have good memories of this time.
NJH such a natural actor. Him picking up Dalmi’s sweater as it falls from the chair. Small details like this make the drama so relatable.
I’m glad they had this scene where Dalmi is finally learning the truth about Dosan and the roots of SST.
I feel bad for Yongsan.. the 5th wheel! Haha!

I like how this scene shows that DM did her research when she had the inspiration to continue helping the visually handicapped.
And I love how they slept and the black marks on DS and DM’s faces. The epilogue tells us how those marks got there. LOL
They were all great together!

Yes, I wrote about this at length in another post.
He didn’t cheat. People who didn’t participate in math olympiads wouldn’t understand this.
It’s not like an SAT where the test-takers can just fill in the bubble. They have to write the solution and then the answer.
Dosan could have seen a single line, but it wasn’t said that he saw the answer nor the formula.
Whatever that line was, it was enough to jog his memory and kickstart his brain again.
And who knows? The other kid could have gotten the WRONG answer. lol.
You see, viewers all assumed that the other kid and Dosan came up with the same answer, but hey, there’s a reason that Dosan was #1 and the other kid wasn’t.
Look: if they both got the correct answer, then the other boy and Dosan should have been TIED for first place. Right??
But Dosan won FIRST place.
That meant that Dosan got more right answers than this boy in the whole test. And this “answer” didn’t determine his winning first place.
Do you see it?
Dosan punished himself over something that wasn’t a crime.
I’m shaking my head at those JP-stans.
I can super relate to what they did here. We call it “Design Thinking” in the office. When we brainstorm and think of the problem and the solution we not only use whiteboards and post its, but sometimes clay or lego to make our prototypes!
JP is finally a bit nicer to Dong Cheon.
He won’t be in time to stop the signing of Acquisitions deal and YS stops him from calling as well.

That eerie sound again… whenever they play that background music you know something bad will happen. I remember when I first watched this scene I was feeling scared.
I like this epilogue… SH actually gave good advice to DM about knowing who she liked. She took the advice and observed DS and marked his face LOL She left her mark on the man she really loved.

Yes, Dosan was beating himself up over it for nothing.
As I explained to @ David Brawley, if Dosan’s first place win hinged on that single answer (which Dosan supposedly copied) then Dosan and the Other Boy should have tied for first place. But Dosan won first place. That meant he had at least ONE correct answer MORE than this Other Boy.
And who knows? The Other Boy could have answered that math problem incorrectly himself. Dosan didn’t see his answer; he only saw a line. lol.
