Happy Mother’s Day!

To all the confused, weary, harassed, stressed-out, working, stay-at-home, quarantined moms out here, please have a seat…

and savor the moment. Because our book of life remains unfinished, sometimes it’s difficult to see that these topsy-turvy days of motherhood will make for a most riveting plot twist, and create our best chapters. So sit down for a while, and enjoy Mother’s Day!

Cute chair! Thanks @pkml3 and Happy Mother’s Day! I think staying home so much has given me an extended pot belly that looks pretty much like the chair’s round tum-tum LOL. Skinny on top and broad below. Yup, the similarities abound!!

  4. Happy Mother’s Day ladies! I miss my late mom ㅠㅠㅠ. Wish you are enjoying today with your beloved ❤❤❤❤

  5. My siblings and I had a nostalgia session during a lunch shared with our offspring. It did us good. Mum would have told us to stop being silly.

  6. What a cool chair! Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers here. Thank you for the post, @packmule3.

To our BOD community, Happy, healthy, glorious Mother’s Day. Your job is 24/7 for at least eighteen years, involves every skillset imaginable and is priceless, often unappreciated. You are villified and celebrated. But most of you persevere. And you are a great inspiration to K Dramas everywhere. Enjoy the day…

  8. I hope all those in the BoD community who are mothers, or have mothers, have a wonderful day celebrating the toughest, but most rewarding, role of a lifetime.

  9. Happy Mother’s Day to you and the awesome Moms here! May God and Mother Mary continue to guide and bless us. 💐💐💐

I had a great one with my family. It was extra special with eldest just hugging me tight and saying his appreciation. It beat all of Hallmark’s cards. 🥰 My youngest was simpler with a hug and I love you.

I’m so blessed and grateful to be a Mom. ☺️

  10. Wishing all the moms a very Happy Mother’s Day! You are all amazing!

  11. Wishing all the mothers a Happy Mother’s Day! 👩 👍🍪🍪🍪

  12. Good mother day to you.
In my country, it’s not this date. It happens on 30 mai. 😉

  13. 🙂 I knew you’d like the chair. I saw it on one of our daytrips. Too bad the name of the designer wasn’t anywhere to be found because I would have loved to get a set for myself.

I found the boobs funny. They looked round and pert, and they weren’t sagging. Ha!

There’s a man’s chair, too. I’ll post in on “Father’s Day.” The woman’s chair had armrests but the man’s chair was armless. lol. I don’t know what that signified…

It would have been a conversation piece. I’d hate to sit on it because I’d hide the design and also, it does not look all that comfortable. Piling on the cushions to give the back and butt some soft support would totally cover the cute design. (We look back on days when boobs were like those of the chair!!!)

Mood of the dayy entry level YYS and Moon Chae-won. Soon good
Would love to see them paired again. YYS was no priest in this one,,,

  16. Forgot to add love the chair! It’s a John Risley chair. He made an armless version as well. Unfortunately no longer manufactured, so have to buy them at auction or at antique stores.

Here is some information about artist and furniture designer John Risley

  17. @Packmule3, I wasn’t sure where to do a writeup about a Japanese series my daughter introduced me to, but this Mother’s Day thread isn’t too off base. The series is called Gokushufudo: The Way of the Househusband. Based on a manga series, it is on Netflix in an anime version, and on Blitz Fansub as a live action version. I’m watching the live action, because I find the anime too choppy for me. The premise is that it shows the day-to-day life of an ex-yakuza boss who left that life to become a househusband to a career woman and a stepfather to her young daughter. Here’s a link to a live-action promotional video that was done to advertise the manga series: https://youtu.be/McVsBG7iLaQ. Here is a link to Episode 1 of the live-action version on Blitz Fansub:
https://blitzfansub.com/gokushufudo-episode-1/. Those who like anime can find that version on Netflix.

Here’s some of the dialogue from Episode 1. Tatsu “The Immortal Dragon” is talking to an underling from his former gang who wants him to come back.
Masa (while taking a group photo after a cooking class): Say croquette!…my ass! Shit, I almost forgot what I was here for. I ain’t got time for this shit. Say croquette… What a loada crap! What the fuck is a househusband?! Where the hell is Immortal Tatsu?!
Tatsu: Masa! Listen here. A housewife wakes up before anyone else [to] cook for her husband and kids, do the dishes and laundry, go pick up the kids after that, feed the kid and bathe the kid, put the kid to bed, and do more laundry after the husband sleeps! By that time, it’s already midnight. It’s hard to lead a gang but nothing is harder than being a housewife!…I decided I’m gonna protect my family with my own way. I can’t protect my family with violence. (Then proceeds to beat up the punk who disrespects the croquettes he made.)

LOL @Welmaris. I’d have tried this show if I was not inundated already!!

  19. @GB, maybe we can slip it in for Father’s Day.

  20. Good idea, @Welmaris. I’ll include “Gokushufudo: The Way of the Househusband” in next month’s To Watch list. Thanks for the rec. 🙂

  21. Wow, @Table122000! How did you know it was a John Risley chair? I thought the matching chairs were whimsical but I would never have guessed that they were art pieces. The owners just had them outside, exposed to the elements, and sat on by guests, like any other chair. 🙂

    Thanks for letting me know.
