The thread is now open for spoilers, discussions, and happy endings.

Let’s enjoy the show!
Yay! @pkml3, thanks! I am indeed enjoying the show!!
Kalimera @Packmule3 et al!
We are indeed enjoying this show, as @GB wrote above!
For me, it is one of the best tv-series I have watched this year.
Let us enjoy the conclusion of the series! <3
Dear GB, Cleo and all,
I’m enjoying this show too.. mostly because I could discuss it with you all here.
@Cleo: thank you very very much for your gifs of SIG and the behind the scene clips too. I have to admit that I’m starting to see SIG in a different way now…(previously I never been this impressed by his acting). Moreover, from bts clip we’ve seen how marvelous he is switching his actual goofy side to his role as MM. His gaze and posture are changing easily like that. He’s indeed a great actor. I hope he will get more diverse roles in the future.
Let’s enjoy the finale dear darlings !
Thank you for the thread, @packmule3. I am keen to see the denouement.
Hey lovely @Moonstar512,
You are welcome! I was so affected by his acting that I had to post something over here too! I was looking for MM’s intense and longing gaze when he saw her after their memories were restored, but I couldn’t find it!
Here is my next favorite scene of SIG’s:
https://in-yeop.tumblr.com/post/654732807747338240/im-sorry-its-all-my-fault
As for PBY here is what I have found that shows her caliber as well:
https://kateknowsdramas.tumblr.com/post/654735651561963520/make-me-not-love-anyone-no-one-thats-my-wish-i
It is from the same scene, but we get to see her reactions as well.
If you scroll down, it has more…
Let us enjoy it indeed!
Our darling DAYS daze are almost over. I hope we all get to smile in the end. Writer-nim, you can do this… Finish strong!
SIG is a very good actor especially his facial acting. He is now in my actor watchlist!
Hello my Dear Darlings, I watched Ep 15 raw, and as expected we get more about what’s happening with DK’s life in the summer of 2021, but strangely not much about the 2nd leads. I need the subs to know why the episode was skewed the way it was. But the last 10 or so minutes are what we live for.
I’m wondering if the actors were really acting in a warmer climate because everyone was in summer attire. It must have been very cool, still, if they were filming in the spring.
@Janey, it’s going to be so hard to let this show go. I’ll be feeling so bereft every Monday night!
The subs came out early enough. It was good. Still cryptic, but good. And as another word of wisdom that is offered suggests, let us celebrate just being alive and able to celebrate, able to enjoy a beautiful flower, able to experience both joy and pain.
One more episode. One great show.
Hi dear @Cleo,
Omo omo you spoiled me.. 😁😁
Thank you for the gifs link..
aah I want to save that phenomenal gaze of SIG too!! Pls inform us if you find it. Supeerthankyou Cleo! 🌷🌷🌷🌷
I’ve watched the eps 15… dear lovelies, finally we could see the light!!! ✨✨✨
As @GB said, in this episode not much about the second leads. I’m actually a little bit confused with the conversation between LHK and CJI after they’re playing baseball. I’m waiting for our expert transcriber to fully understand this. Here’s some cupcakes for youu: 🧁🧁🧁🧁🧁
My highlight scene would be when DK visited MM’s house. So she always send him a text message, told him about her feelings.. 🥺🥺
DK texted him and she heard the phone’s message notification. She found MM’s phone on the sofa.. and when she opend the text messages, she also found the draft text that MM made before. It’s sad but also heartwarming. Like discovering the last words from someone who’s been gone. And finally they could connected once again.
So now DK debuted as a writer with her own story! I hope she will be in the top 10 so that CJI will sign a contract to her later..
I hope that the last episode will be satisfying closure for all of us.
Can’t waiitt 🌷🌷🌷
Hello my agapimenes, lovelies and darlings!
I loved Episode 15!
What did we see? DK is truly loving herself!
She even wore the t-shirt that proves it!
Also, the fact that DK wrote about her story with MM is awesome as well!
As Young Prince said, we are waiting for that ending.
It is going to be a happy ending, what do you think? *winks
I will write more tomorrow !
P.S. @moonstar512 I am going to trascribe this scene, so don’t worry!
I am spoiling everyone, including myself! LMAO!
@GB, I won’t be able to let go that easily. I can tell. I will keep rewatch it from time to time to enjoy it.
@Janey It will finish strong!
Dear Lovelies, Agapimenes and Darlings, what a positive episode! I am still holding my breath for tomorrow and my fingers are crossed.
@Cleopatra, thank you in advance for the transcription.
The scene between Cha Joo Ik and Young Prince was really great. Finally someone has the upper hand with Young Prince. Cha made sure that he thought YP was a ‘superstar’ online writer. -And Cha pretended that DK was already his chief manager to get Young Prince on board. He is so sly!
Ep15 – yes, our wish will be granted unless some plot twist happens in ep16. Pls writer-nim, don’t try to do the edgy, twisty thing, ok? Let’s live and be happy.
I’m glad everyone remembers MM (even DK’s doctor) and no memories were erased. So it’s not only DK who misses him but everyone close to her, too. It is sad but a big part of living is coping with loss. DK has happy and good days but it’s a different kind of happy. Nevertheless, she is still waiting and hopeful that they will meet again.
They have all “grown up” through DK’s experience. NJN as a caregiver for DK and acknowledging she likes Cha; the brother now more determined on fulfilling his dream; the aunt on importance of being physically close to family (she and hubby will move back to SK).
Fun conversation between Cha and DK who is acting a bridge between him and NJN.
Cha: “I’m letting her be”.
DK: “She’s not a cultured asset or art work (LOL!!!) … Time is overrated. You don’t need time, you need courage”.
Cha getting schooled by DK but he always has a comeback for her. These 2 will have a good and fun working relationship!
This prompted Cha to go to NJN. Glad he stepped up but did not overstep. He’s ok to be the bad guy (Lee said the same thing) but what’s different is that Lee was bad guy for selfish reasons (to save his own pride) while Cha did it for her (to save her pride). And she recognizes that. Of course, he immediately does a comeback to say “Then sign with me, I’m a kind guy”. Hahaha! One can’t win with Cha on verbal sparring. Even his retort about them being in a romance, “make mistakes with me” was so swoony (my heart skipped a beat, too!). But NJN disarms him with her honesty. I hope next time, she will have the last word. I so enjoy their interaction and lines together.
DK signs up 2 writers! And she writes her own story!!! Another cathartic thing to do to acknowledge and accept what happened. I wonder what her pen name is? Like Young Prince, we want a happy ending to their story.
DG delivers! The plant is blooming, her heart is booming – both sustained by the love of DK and MM and their sacrifice. Now the reward – MM is set free as human to be with DK. I still have to ponder on what DG said that this is her first creation. And the nagging question of who does the “doom”/death job now?
Hello DAYSers ~
Wow. i felt the ache of DK when she dreamt that MM was back in his house and woke up with tears on her pillow… waaah… and when she laid down in MM’s bed, turned around and saw him there… but when she slowly reached out to touch him – he faded into nothingness. ouch!!! heartbreak. but DK stayed so positive. i love it when she bought herself the long stem rose and talked to MM in spirit about how she will keep buying herself roses in his behalf until he returns. awwww…. heart wrenching. i was crying with DK.
so that explains the dying butterfly… representing MM’s death… acting like a fertilizer to GD’s pot… so MM can grow and become a flower (human). awwww. she was hoping against hope that DK and MM will come through and be happy together. sweet.
love their reunion in the bus — i am your “hand holder” awwww yes!!! those big hands of MM. thanks GD for sending back DK’s umbrella back with MM.
interesting that DK was expecting MM’s appearance to change. so glad he didn’t.
Yay. excited for the last episode… pls writer-nim, can we have a lovely wedding? <3
Yes @HK_Lady, a wedding would be awesome!
Kalimera my agapimenes, lovelies and darlings!
Here is the completed soundtrack of “Doom At Your Service”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0DFpICXg4A
Enjoy!
Darling @Cleo – thanks for my lullaby of love songs. Hope to read you tomorrow.
Agapimeni @Janey,
You will read me tomorrow! <3
Have a good night's sleep!
Hello again my lovelies. So many positive feelings from last night’s episode. I am so happy that the Writer-nim chose this path! Let us see what we have seen yesterday!
Three months have passed and DK is healthy! Her brain tumor is shrinking. At the same time, we learn in the second part of the episode, that the deity girl got a heart transplant and her new heart is warm and beats steadily! She can live a long life, thanks to DK!
I love that this episode is dedicated to DK’s self-loving period. Yes, she is mourning, but at the same time, she does what the deity girl and Myul Mang have asked her to do, i.e. to live happily.
It made my heart warm that she kept smiling and had lunches with her loved ones, she tried to put some sense to Na Ji Na and Cha Jook Ik.
The most profound scene for me is, when she gave her green umbrella to the deity girl and she was running while it was raining, as Myul Mang has advised her to do.
That means she was indeed cherishing everything that happened between then, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly.
It was extremely sad that she missed him like crazy, that she was looking for him at her dreams, that she was seeing him in his bedroom when he was not there.
She was mourning him in her own way, and she was crying alone, because she didn’t want the others to know, but at the same time, she was waiting for him.
She was waiting for him to return. I believe that in that doomed world, in the church she also prayed to God, Myul Mang to come back to her.
Here are the most important scenes I wanted to transcribe. I will return with another part(s). I want to discuss some other things more!
DK’s voiceover
02:47 mark, after her doc’s appointment at the hospital.
Is this all a dream? Did everything really happen?
Did you really stay by my side?
11:36 mark, she is waiting for the pedestrian’s green light, remembering Myul Mang holding her hand. Her brother appears and grabs her hand and she is startled. She doesn’t let her brother hold her hand, because that was something only MM was doing.
DK: Why are you holding my hand?
DK’s Dream
22:18 mark, she dreamed of Myul Mang.
DK: Immu. / Aunt.
MM is sitting at his couch at their combined houses.
MM: Aren’t you going to work? Why aren’t you answering?
DK gets emotional and step by step reluctantly at first, then she hurries to embrace him.
MM: You’re going to be jobless forever at this rate.
MM holds her in his arms, consoling her, while DK starts to cry.
MM: What’s up? Being jobless is that sad? (smiling and teasing)
DK: Is this a dream?
MM: Did you have a dream? I didn’t go to your dream.
DK looks at him.
DK: I missed you…I missed you so, so much.
MM caresses her cheek.
MM: If you miss me, you can just look at me. Look at much as you want.
How do you miss me so much just because you haven’t seen me for one night?
DK is embracing him again; MM is consoling her. She then caresses his cheek, but the alarm woke her up. She was crying.
The date is June 4th 2021. We know that she was supposed to die in 3rd of March.
She was marking every day from MM’s passing.
To her aunt DK said: It’s just (geunyang), a good day.
At 30:08 mark she found a florist and bought herself a red rose, remembering the bouquet that MM brought her along with his marriage proposal!
When Cha asked her about it. Dk said: “I bought them with the feeling of being gifted.”
Cha was relieved. “I ‘m glad that your life is going well now.”
Her Aunt and her brother were curious about Kim SaRam. They didn’t know details but they were too afraid to ask her. The only person who did was Na Ji Na.
JN: You…What happened with him?
DK: I’m waiting.
JN: Waiting?
DK: He went somewhere very far away, so I can’t follow him.
He won’t like me following him either. So until I can see him again, I will wait happily while being healthy. If I don’t do that, he might scold me when we meet again. He wants me to be endlessly happy.
This quote is the whole essence of the episode. DK finally learned to love herself in the fullest. She has to be endlessly happy and healthy, while she is learning to do that, she is also waiting for Myul Mang.
At 44:17 mark, she sees her wilted bouquet of roses and goes to replace them for the one she bought that day. DK talks to Myul Mang through that rose.
DK: Hey, are you living well? I…just live every day the same.
The flowers you bought me withered, and I got so sad while looking at it, so I bought new ones while thinking you bought it for me. It’s pretty, right? When this flower withers, I will pretend you bought it for me and keep buying new ones. I will live like that. I can do that, right?
She then starts writing her story with MM. She wants to remember every detail that happened. That’s why she is doing it. She doesn’t want to forget Myul Mang / Kim SaRam, the person she loves.
We get to see how she cherish the moments she has with her loved ones. She goes out for lunch with them celebrating:
DK: To commemorate spending a fulfilling day happily. To commemorate the fact that the sunlight was beautiful today.
That’s why she says the same to Cha and Na. Time flies away. People think that have time, when in truth they don’t.
Later, she visits MM’s home and lives at his coffee table a picture of them together, we know that the same picture was in MM’s phone as a wallpaper.
Memories come back to her from the shooting day.
She talks to him, then sends him a message that everyone missed him.
She then finds out on his mobile phone, all the unread messages she sent him, and she also found out that he was typing a message for her that he didn’t sent her.
MM: It’s just that I never used it, but after using it for a bit, I figured out the system. I thought really hard about what to send you as my first text.
You’re happy, right? I believe that you are.
While she was returning home, the deity girl is waiting for her at the bus stop. It is raining. This is the scene I was talking about, when she gave her green umbrella to the deity girl and she was running while it was raining, as Myul Mang has advised her to do.
TDG: Hello. Have you been well?
DK: Have you been doing well? You weren’t at the hospital.
TDG: I got surgery.
DK: Surgery?
The deity girl, takes DK’s hand and places it on her heart.
TDG: Can you feel it? It’s beating well, right?
It’s very warm. Human’s heart. It’s very strong and keeps beating.
Thanks to you, this will be my longest life.
DK: It’s a relief. (smiling) Thank you. For staying alive.
TDG: That’s something I should be saying. You beat me to it.
I saw that you’re doing well, so I should leave. I’ll see you later!
DK’s Voiceover before their Reunion.
DK: Hello, are you doing well? I’m still living, with not much happening.
Sometimes, I smile. Sometimes, I get angry. Sometimes, I’m bored.
While living like that, moments that are like gifts arrive from time to time.
Sometimes, It’s so difficult to the point that I want to die.
But I live. Because this is the life that you gave me.
But I walk. Because that’s life.
Where are you? Now, where are you passing by?
It might be that you’re always here. With a completely different face.
With a completely different appearance. As a completely different existence.
If I think like that, I keep looking at the face of every person I meet.
I peer into the lives of every person I meet. Is it you? Is it you?
While thinking that.
If I pass you by, like you always did, can you grab my hand?
Even if it’s only for a moment. It’s okay if it’s even just for a moment.
Please grab onto it. Grab onto me.
…and Kim SaRam does! He is her hand-holder!
*To be Continued…
Hi Lovelies and Agapimenes, I’m thinking that this Writer seems to have a whole bunch of life lessons, wise thoughts and good advice to share and packed them tightly into this one show.
From just Episode 15 alone there was so much good Advice:
– Time is overrated – avoid taking time for granted or procrastinating. Take action.
– Live every day healthily and well for oneself and one’s loved ones (especially with respect to those who’ve enabled us to live).
– Appreciate normal daily life and simple pleasures, especially thing things we take for granted (a great day so that the laundry is nice and dry!!).
– Regard each day we have as a good day (as we circle the dates).
– Face our own foibles and mistakes instead of blaming others (as when Lee admits he brought the sad end upon himself and previously MM said he’d thrown a stone that hit himself).
– Keep in touch with friends even if it’s uncomfortable (Lee pus advice from the kid SK into action and meets Cha).
– If we have a choice, choose family (Auntie moves back to Korea).
– Grieve over our departed loved ones in a healthy way (DK buying a rose for herself and going about meeting others.) This show portrays quite nicely, most of the stages of grief.
– Accept the cycle of life where death makes new life possible, as the dead butterfly enables the flower to bloom.
– Have faith
– Let go of our grown up ‘children’ as long as they’re happy (GD wanted only to see MM’s smile, Cha ruffled up Lee’s hair with a smile.)
Story Writing Metaphor Advice
Writing one’s own story is a metaphor for being ready to start a new episode in life.
– When one story ends, it’s time to start a new one.
– Be willing to write a new story regardless of whether it will work out.
– If we cannot continue with the story, we can start another one.
– Be committed to reading a story even if the ending is sad.
Strangely Poignant
I find strangely poignant that DK thought her messages to MM had been ignored, but in actual fact, he had tried to type in a message for the first time, but he didn’t know how to send it to her. He thought she’d received it, when she hadn’t. She only read it and sent it to herself at this time when she visits his home and finds his phone.
So it is with us. We have many thoughts and messages, but they don’t always get sent, or they get waylaid, or forgotten and the recipient never knew what was on our minds.
At least the first and last message that MM wrote focused on the most important point for him, ie DK’s happiness. It confirmed what his decision to disappear was for. And it was so good to see that DK had understood this even before receiving this text message. She honoured his sacrifice by living as well as she could.
@HK_Lady @Janey @Cleo @Fern
It’s so nice to have another show that has addressed death, grief and moving on so interestingly. Cleverly too … because with a fantasy character like MM, we have the fantastical option of him resurrecting and returning as himself. I’m so glad it’s not a reincarnation into some other form or a rebirth into babyhood and then having to find DK as a very old lady LOL. What a relief that he always bears the same image to her and is recognisable as MM.
I do wonder how he appears to Auntie, Na Ji Na and Sun Kyung. Doc Jung saw him as very young. Will he be recognisable to all of them since he does not look like the young guy in the photo? LOL.
I also liked very much that DK was still kind. She gave her umbrella to GD, never expecting to get it back. She was offering shelter and protection to the deity of life. Isn’t that poignant? She was safeguarding life.
I like how GD continued to use the umbrella in the sunshine of her garden. It was an umbrella not only for rainy days, but for fine, sunny days as well. It provided shelter and comfort from the glare and heat. And in the same vein of this drama, when things go around and come around full circle, we see that the umbrella returns to DK, most appropriately through MM, who himself had to travel full circle to live and die, as doom and then to return and live as a human person.
One question that I wanted Show to answer, was whether MM had ever been human before. From the earlier scene, it looked like perhaps he had been so unhappy that he’d killed himself. I was thinking that at first he had returned as MM to ‘make amends’ for the sin of suicide, and having done so, he completes his life cycle by becoming human again. I hope that Ep 16 might touch on this.
Thanks for the OSTs @Cleo, this was one show where I downloaded the music from early on to play it separately and whenever I’m just waiting. Thanks too for highlighting the meaningful scenes and dialogues
While GD says the human heart is warm, I have to say that despite comments to the contrary, this show warms the heart. It gives hope in the face of things and people that disappear, it lifts up the positives of situations which at face value, falsely looks to have no meaning or nothing good. It reminds us of what’s important in the face of death.
@Fern, I laugh at the sneakiness of Cha. Especially at the irony where DK tells Cha on the phone that ex-colleagues Da In and Jung Min were so sneaky to have managed a secret dating life, not knowing that Cha was even sneakier to have tricked Young Prince into thinking DK was already working for him, and tricking DK into thinking she’s a Team Leader of a team of more than 1, in an established office. LOL poor DK. What a sneaky soul is our Cha!
Part 2
Geunyang / Just and words of wisdom.
In this Episode, we got to hear “geunyang”, four times.
Each time a person would say it, in the next scene he / she would meet up with someone from the other characters. As usual in the parenthesis are my Notes!
#1. Na Ji Na
Na Ji Na said “geunyang”, while she was talking to Tak Dong-Kyung about Cha.
Na picked up Tak after her appointment at the hospital. They were in her car, when Cha called her.
DK: How can he not change a bit? He must still think I’m his subordinate.
He’s just rude. Rude. He just wants me to come without any explanations.
Ji Na is listening to DK’s ranting. DK has a message.
DK: He wants me to come to his house. Unni, can you drop me off on your way?
JN: I’ll take you there.
DK: Unnie, you should come with me. You know him.
JN: It’s fine.
DK: Unni.
JN: Yeah?
DK: Do you guys not call each other?
JN: “geunyang” / It’s just…
DK: It’s just…you gues don’t call each other?
JN: I’m trying to straighten out my feelings
(Go Na Ji Na! Fighting!)
DK: Why?
JN: We both need some time.
DK: I don’t think he’ll call you before you call him.
JN: Probably. He’s like that.
DK: Do you like him because he’s like that?
JN: Don’t lead me on.
DK: Ohh…You’re not falling for it? You’re all grown up.
JN: Taking you to and from the hospital, being your guardian for three months made me an adult.
DK: I will make sure to pay back everything, Unnie. As I live on, I’ll make monthly payments.
JN: It’s fine. You’ve already paid back for everything. You not being sick is enough for me. I’m so proud of you and thankful to you.
DK: Me too. I’m thankful, too. To you, Aunt, Seon Kyeong, and…
DK’s meeting with Cha.
[…]
Cha: Join my company. I’ll be good to you.
DK: How will you be good to me?
Cha: I do have a lot of money.
DK: Showing off with no proof. I could do that, too.
Cha: Then you show off with salary and position. Would you like to be my show off, Team Leader Tak?
DK: Gosh, you must be confident to have those writers sign, huh?
Cha: Well…I can’t say I’m not confident.
DK: Then why isn’t Lee Hyeon in that list of yours? You know her ranking’s been going up lately.
Cha: I do know.
DK: Then why aren’t you holding on to her?
Cha: It’s not that I’m not holding on. I’m just letting her be for a bit.
DK: Why do you let her be? Is she a cultural asset or a piece of art? She’s a human. Grab her whether as a woman or as a writer. Don’t regret later.
Cha: She’ll need some time.
DK: Ahhh…Seriously. Time my butt.
Do you think time will just be there forever? You sound like a spoiled child. I know well. It’s not time that you need. Courage is what you need.
Cha looks at DK.
Cha: Hey, you’re kind of cool.
DK: I can’t believe I get to give advice to Cha Joo Ik.
Cha: Cha Joo Ik?
DK: You’re not boss yet. I’m off. I will think thoroughly on the proposal that you made before I give you an answer.
Cha: Hey, did I raise you like that? Why think thoroughly? Just think roughly.
DK: Yes, that’s how you raised me. You’re the one who should think roughtly and move quickly.
Cha: But some feelings get clearer as times passes, no?
DK stops to think.
DK: For example?
Cha: Like longing.
DK: You’re such a smooth speaker.
Cha: That’s how I made a living.
DK: Gosh, I thought I’m the one giving advice today. You’re such a tiresome supervisor. Why do you always have to teach me something and I always learn something from you.
Cha: What?
DK: I’m leaving. Bye.
Cha: (sighs) Kids these days…
#2 I wrote a bit above, DK told it to her Aunt when she was marking the calendar.
#3 Lee and Seon Kyeong both told it at the Café.
[…]
SK: CEO?
Lee: Yeah?
SK: I have something to confess to you beforehand. Sit down first.
Lee: Confess? What confession? As long as it’s not a love confession, I’m okay with anything.
SK: It’s something like that.
Lee: What?
SK: I actually know Na Ji Na. Your first love.
Lee: What? How do you know her?
SK: She’s close with my sister, so I’ve known her for ten years, and now I treat her like eldest sister. Or eldest hyungnim. I didn’t know from the beginning, but found out in the middle, but I couldn’t find a good timing to tell you until now. I’m sorry.
Lee: You don’t have to be sorry.
SK: I’m not saying this as an excuse, but after I found out that you are that bastard-
He stops. Or that guy, I sincerely wanted to work out well between you two. You are really a good person.
Lee laughs, Thanks.
SK: Seriously! Whenever you would stare blankly recently, my heart ached for you.
Lee: I was like that?
SK: I should’ve worked harder to set you guys up.
Lee: It’s fine, what’s the point of that now? “geunyang” / I just think that. Even if someone helped, It won’t have done anything anyway. Since it’s because of what I did, not somebody else.
SK: CEO, you seem like an adult.
Lee: Ya! Hey, I’m older than you.
SK: But you’re okay now, right?
Lee: Of Course. I’m always ok. I won’t be stuck in the past, and run towards the future…
SK: It’s fine with Hyungnim Joo Ik, right?
Lee: Huh?
SK: “geunyang” / I was just wondering if you only missed out on love. Oh, I’m sorry. I went over the line.
Lee: Smiles and teases SK’s hair.
Then, he goes to Cha’s house to tell him to play a baseball game together.
Cha: You win.
Lee: I know, that’s a first.
Cha: You said you wanted my car, right?
Lee: No, just pretend that bed doesn’t exist. Let’s start from the beginning.
Cha: Okay.
Lee: And from next time, don’t go easy on me.
Cha sighs. How is your new house?
Lee: It’s fine.
Cha: Do you not need anything?
Lee: Hyung.
Cha: I’m sorry but I can’t give you that.
Lee laughs. Hyung. Let’s play from time to time. Baseball.
Not too often, but also drink from time to time.
Cha: (nods) Won’t that be impossible?
Lee: I like your response this time. Since it seems like you’re not going easy on me.
But I hope we can later.
They look at each other. Lee smiles. Cha is teasing Lee’s hair.
#4 Myul Mang to the Deity Girl.
After her encounter with DK, the deity girl returns to the garden.
The first flower she approaches is DK !!!
TDG: You’re so pretty and growing so well.
Behind her we see MM’s shadow.
TDG: you came?
MM: Are you seriously saying “you came”?
They both walk in the garden.
MM: Is she doing well?
TDG: She is doing well, and also not doing well. Don’t be said. Today is a happy day.
It grew well. You became a kind child.
TDG is looking at the plant pot and so does MM. She took the pot in her hands.
TDG: You really bloomed a pretty flower.
MM: What does that mean?
TDG: You are a butterfly. A butterfly for the flowers in my garden.
Do you think the butterfly knew? That when it dies, it will just become a flower.
No, even if you didn’t know, you chose that. For your single flower.
This flower bloomed after a dead butterfly fertilized it.
The deity girl turns to face MM, who is listening and cannot believe what he is listening to.
TDG: It’s a flower that you bloomed. It’s you. Now, you’re not a butterfly.
You’re a flower that I created for the first time.
MM is spreading his hand to touch the flower himself.
MM: This is me?
TDG: Yeah.
MM: So…My real destiny-
TDG: Is to live happily in this garden. Not as a butterfly, but as a flower. As a Human.
MM: This was planned by you from the very beginning? From the beginning, you knew everything.
TDG: I didn’t know, but I always believed in you guys.
I’m sorry. But I believe in you and hoped. *
So go. All your resentment and regret towards me, do that later. That child is waiting.
MM: I don’t resent you.
I am just… happy. / “geunyang”
Again, since I can see you again.
MM is smiling.
TDG: Okay. I always wanted to see you smile like that. It’s enough now that I’ve seen it. Since I saw it. Now let’s say our goodbyes here. Don’t go and stop. Go there and love without stopping. Live happily like that.
MM: If I leave, you are alone again.
TDG: No. I’m never alone. I’m always with you. I will always be watching over you, watering you and raising you. Hoping that you’re always happy. Later, way later, let’s mee again here. Smile. I am an existence that only wishes for you to smile. Don’t forget that.
She gives him back the green umbrella.
TDG: Take this. It’s raining outside. Go quickly. That child is waiting.
MM: Turns to leave. She utters ah.
TDG: Happy birthday.
MM smiles then leaves her.
TDG: Goodbye. Sa Ram-a.
*This scene is extremely important. Because in this scene, we have closure both for DK and MM. The first time, DK visited the garden and TDG gave her the marble and told her not to be miserable over MM. This time, MM is with her and she reveals to him everything.
We finally learn the answer about her intentions but also, that she was wrong about what she had told him after DK’s reset outside his house.
Their love was not in vain. DK and MM’s love is what more than the deity girl hoped for!
Hello Lovelies!
Episode 15 is beautiful! All your brilliant theories have come into fruition. I’m going to miss watching this show with you all even if I’m mostly a bystander in this place 😁
MM was rewarded, he’s now a human! Pinnochio is a now a real boy. MM’s journey is similar to a butterfly’s stages of development and life cycle of a flower. To bloom, we need to be fertilized. Just like the flowerless plant, MM was cold and emotionless. like the egg, it is enclosed. Then he meet DK and something begins to sprout. In the larva stage..the caterpillar starts to emerge, the time where MM was honed and tested. To grow we need to experience struggle. Without pain, there is no reward.
Similarly, without the fertilizer, the plant would not have grown. The dead butterfly becomes a potent fertilizer for the flower to bloom.
MM had to struggle, sacrifice himself and die in order to emerge as someone new. An adult butterfly- the human form, which brings his developmental process into completion. He became his own agent of change.
From nothing to something
From darkness to color
From isolation to connection
From emptiness to love
From doom to human
What a beautiful transformation.
I have the same question with @Janey about GD when she said, “You’re the first flower that I created” could this possibly mean that she has transformed herself as well?
I felt MM’s absence on this episode, i cried when DK find him at home, contently reading, only to wake up and realize it’s all just a dream. But happy to see her trying to live happily, enjoying life at the same time mourning for MM’s loss. She stayed true to her character as the strong and pragmatic Dong Kyung.
I can’t wait to see the final episode! It should tie up all the loose ends and just like @HK_lady said, a wedding would cap the show nicely.
@Cleopatra, thank you for transcribing the dialogs. It is so nice to see it written down; also to see the difference between transcriptions on different websites.
On to the finale!
@Fern,
Thank you. I need to read what everyone wrote, so as to to answer.
Let us enjoy the Finale!
Annyeong! Let me answer to what you all wrote, okay?
Darlings @Janey and @Lei,
I believe that since MM became Sa Ram / human / a person, then the deity girl transformed as well. She was incomplete and imperfect being before and now after being able to create something by herself, she became complete and perfect.
I agree with you that we had growth for all our special beings and characters.
@Janey, I think that all will remember him as he is now. He is not Myul Mang any longer. So, Kim Sa Ram will have this beautiful face for everyone to remember!
My agapimeni @GB, as always, you summarized beautifull the life lessons and the messages this Writer-nim wanted to share with us. I will keep this, so you know. Because everything that was being said to us, are entirely true…
We should start afresh, when we feel so. Even when we don’t feel so, let us change things for the best!
Everything came to a full circle and it is beautiful. The Deity Girl was right. You need to survive / live in order to realize that this is indeed a happy ending.
DK followed her advice and got her happy ending.
Myul Mang became a kind child, so his longing to become a human was granted!
@GB, I love the soundtrack so very much. I even have added them to my Spotify.
@Lei what you wrote about the butterfly is beautiful. Transformations are not an easy procedure. You are uncertain when you are changing stage after stage what the outcome will be.
@Everyone,
The message of #DAYS is that after you become a butterfly, you can be even more. The transformation is an endless procedure and it is something beautiful. We shouldn’t be afraid of it.
So, here I will write my most favorite quote by e.e. cummings.
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
It is a quote that I am revisiting everytime I want to remember how far I have come. The journey of discovering yourself is valuable. We shouldn’t be afraid…
Episode 15 Ad Hoc Points
LOL I like how Young Prince described Cha Joo Ik as one who looks like a vampire, and he does.
So cute to see the reproduction of the dream that MM gave to DK of the meal with family and friend where they enjoyed their meal, and in the same restaurant. Now DK gets to see her family enjoying her gifts in real life.
@Lei
Yes, the metamorphosis of a butterfly is very apt. MM’s disappearance was like a time hidden in a cocoon, waiting for the right time to re-emerge, transformed.
I noted that it was June 4th that DK circled, ie 93 days after March 3rd, the day MM disappeared. So although the days and nights do not tally to make it another week… essentially MM reappeared as a human being about 100 days after he disappeared
Metaphor of Novel Writing and Starting a New Romance
DK speaks to Cha and says she will get NJN to sign the contract with him.
DK to Cha : “What are you doing? Are you playing hard to get?”
Cha : “Yes. But deep inside, I’m trying to lure her to sign it.”
DK goes straight over to NJN’s and tells her what Cha said. LOL. DK is lying on the couch in the same pose as MM was on her bed/hospital bed.
NJN “I think I picked the wrong guy.”
NJN admits that she likes Cha, but the girls want to get the better of Cha who’s always right in his advice.
DK : “Unnie, once you reach the ending, it means it’s time to write a new novel.
NJN : “But who knows how that one’s going to end?”
DK : “How would anyone know? You’ll only know once you’re there.” (She is saying something similar to what GD tells MM about unknown endings.)
NJN : “What if I give up and never finish it?”
DK : “That’s still okay. You can always write a new novel. Some stories just don’t have a clear ending. That kind of stuff sometimes ends up attracting more attention. You know Young Prince, right? After he suddenly stopped writing, he suddenly got more subscribers. Because he stopped, he ended up becoming a legend. So just do it. Give it a try. I’ll always be there to support you”
(This might be a hark back to the idea of Longing. Cha was playing hard to get to generate longing in NJN. DK knew firsthand what ‘longing’ was like, and regardless of the knowledge of what Cha was doing, DK eggs NJN on to start a romance. The 3 months had indeed helped her know that she likes Cha, so he was right again that some feelings become clearer as time goes by.)
Fresh Starts
Cha starts a company and works on starting a romance with NJN.
NJN is considering a fresh start in romance.
DK starts in a new company and starts a novel.
Lee wants to start afresh in fair competition with Cha.
Sun Kyung will start as Manager in a branch of the café.
Auntie is going to restart living in Korea.
GD has a new heart.
MM has a total life transformation and a fresh start as a human being.
Meta Over Not Understanding This show
I hardly read any other blog nowadays, but still I got wind of the fact that many people dislike this show because it “tries to be too sophisticated”.
When Jijo King complained that his ranking was going down, while Shanghai Park’s ranking remained on top, and started blaming others as usual, in this case the readers of Shanghai Park, for having low standards and not understanding his sophisticated novel, I wondered if it was a sly comment about viewers who dismissed this show. 😉
Umbrella(s) and Sighs
BTW, although I said that it was nice GD continued to use DK’s umbrella in the sunny garden, I am thinking that the umbrella in the garden was a different much larger umbrella that GD was carrying. You can tell from the shots juxtaposed.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ArQnU4VV3wm5EA01IIKeGdNdNg7osmvP/view?usp=sharing
However we see another shot later that makes it look like the umbrella is smaller, and then we see it folded up. I wonder though, why there should be 2 umbrellas.
@Cleo, Good catch that the first flower was DK. It didn’t really occur to me.
The sighs of MM. He paused, struggled a while and then sighed before the first kiss. In Ep 15 when GD tells him not to resent her, he pauses, thinks and sighs before saying that he’s happy. His sighs would come after examining his feelings carefully, and before he gave a well considered response.
Here’s the other version of the subs of the same GD-MM scene:
GD is in her garden and MM in white for a change, comes along. White is of course the colour of angels and good guys. Also the garden is this time filtered in white light that washed out the colours, and reduced the resolution, making it look more like an unreal heavenly place.
GD notes that a flower (DK) is so pretty and growing nicely.
MM asks : “How is she? Is she doing well?”
GD : “She’s doing well and not well.”
He looks down.
GD : “Don’t be sad. Today is a happy day.”
They look at GD’s pot plant with its flower.
GD : “It grew well. You became a good kid. (GD picks up the pot.) You’ve grown a very pretty flower.”
MM : “What do you mean?”
GD : “You’re a butterfly. A butterfly for flowers in my garden. Do you think the butterfly knew that once it died, it would become a flower as well? No. You didn’t know, but that was what you chose. For your one and only flower. This flower grew from the dead butterfly turning into fertilizer. You made this flower bloom.” (He has contributed to his own life cycle)
“It’s you. You’re no longer a butterfly. You’re the first flower that I created.”
(In Ep 1, GD said that she was like a gardener who planted the flowers, but did not own the garden. MM was her first creation. She claims that she made him, hoping that he, with DK’s help, would grown into a human being one day.)
MM : “This is me?”
GD : “That’s right.”
MM : “So my real fate is …”
GD : “Living happily in this garden. Not as a butterfly, but as a flower. As a human being.”
MM : “Was this your plan from the start? Did you know from the start?”
GD : “I didn’t know, but I always believed in you two. Sorry, but I always had faith and hoped.” (I wonder why she said ‘sorry’ here. Was it an apology is for not telling him her hopes and plans?)
GD : “So go. You can resent me and regret later. She’s waiting.
MM : “I don’t resent you. I’m simply (he thinks of the word with a sigh) happy, because I can see her again.”
GD : “Good. I’ve always wanted to see you smile like that. I’m good now that I’ve seen it. Since I’ve seen it, let’s say goodbye now. Go. Don’t stop. When you get there, love. Don’t stop. Live happily like that.”
MM : “But you’ll be alone again if I leave.”
GD : “No. We’re always together. I’m always with you. I’ll always watch over you, water you and raise you, always hoping you’ll be happy. Let’s meet again later. Much later. Here.”
(We can assume that GD means when he reaches the end of his earthly life, he’ll die and they’ll meet again in ‘heaven/afterlife’.)
GD : “Smile. I always want you to smile. Don’t forget that.”
She hands him the umbrella.
GD : “Take this with you. It’s raining there. Get going. She’s waiting”
He turns to leave.
GD : “Ah … Happy Birthday.” (She had said before that he couldn’t have a birthday because he was not human. Now she was confirming he was human by wishing him happy birthday.)
When he is out of hearing she says: “Goodbye Human/Saram-ah.” She calls his new name in the fond familiar form – a poignant goodbye from a mum to her offspring.
BTW, the Episode titles:
Episode 15: A Butterfly for a Flower
Episode 16: I No Longer Bring Doom
I trust he brings many bright smiles and lots of hope!
Here’s more of SIG speaking about the song he composed, “A Distant Fate”. I knew he had a hand in creating it, but I didn’t know he composed it as well. It’s been playing on and off in my head for days.
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are” – ee cummings
Thank you @cleo for this quote which totally encapsulates what DAYS is all about. I love it and I’ve written it down as a constant reminder that even if I struggle, that’s ok. If it does not work, have a do-over, write a new chapter, begin again, live, laugh, be happy.
Same with @Lei’s butterfly metamorphosis, growth and transformation can be a painful and uncomfortable process but that’s what makes life and happiness more meaningful.
@GB – so many life lessons here as you have well noted. I look for these in the stuff I watch and read.
DAYS may sound “sophisticated” but I think the essence of it is that it’s not just a show to be watched, it needs to be thought of and discussed. And here at BoD, we dig deep and I am richer for it. 🌹🌹🌹
On to ep16…
@Growing Beautifully, thank you for sharing the live recording video of SIG. He has such a wonderful voice. Such talent!
@Cleopatra and @ Growing Beautifully, ah, so one plant was DK and one was MM? I wondered why the species of seedling changed. I’m no expert, but the first little plant looked rather like an anemone flower and the second, in full bloom, looked like a Brachyscome (daisy shaped) flower.
Dear All,
Such a wonderful journey, so glad I got to enjoy this drama with you all!
I watched the two episodes in one go.
I cried when DK put the new red rose in the vase, and said she will keep buying them, pretending that he bought them for her.
I was fulling expecting a wedding scene at the end, but! NO WEDDING!! AHHHHHHHHHH I really wanted to see them say their vows.
But to be honest when he first proposed a few episodes ago, and they were sleeping on the same bed, I thought they had already gotten married.
This ending is truly a happy ending, and I’m so thankful for it! Even without the wedding.
I loved the family bonding, and everyone growing and moving forward.
The OSTs were wonderful all throughout the drama, and I loved the change of seasons in the drama.
Most of all, I am now a Seo In Guk fan, and I’m going to go back and watch some of his old dramas, and looking forward to his new works!
Even though in the middle it was a tough ride, I’m so happy I chose to watch this drama! It’s been the drama I’ve been most invested in so far this year! Thankyou all for being on this journey together 🙂
I am so invested that I didn’t even start HP2 yet, I just wanted to focus on this one. I really like PBY and SIG together, in the drama and in the BTS. This is the first drama where I’m always on the lookout for new BTS videos. It has been a good ride!
@TY Hi-5! Me too! I’ve been like a crazy person looking for BTS and new MVs , interviews etc for this show. That made the waiting between episodes bearable.
Ep 16 was great. I love that our OTP suffered no more memory loss and were able to explain what happened to each other. I like how GD had a true role to play throughout, and how the logic of this drama-verse was maintained until the end. I even like the ending where they continue, as we continue in real life. At anytime we can be in mid-conversation too, and that’s a valid place to leave our couple who have so many conversations to hold with each other forever.
Show took care that every single character got to meet MM and even most of each other where it made sense. I like also that much that was promised or wished for in the earlier episodes came to pass. This has made this show so satisfying in different ways. I seldom choose a work by its writer, but I probably shall look out for more work by Im Meari. Kudos to the whole production team for giving us a show that took a difficult concept and made it beautiful to watch, with both laughter and tears, plus a happy ending. : – )
Hi Darlings and Lovelies,
I just stopped by to say that I’m so satisfied with the ending. Omg the writer give me more than I expected.
I was smiling all along when I watched the eps 16. 😊😊😊😊
Thank you alll so much for your efforts, lessons, and comments.. i will promote this drama to my other friends who haven’t seen this..
Ok, will read and write more later!!
Kalispera my agapimenes, darlings and lovelies!
I just finished watching the Finale tonight.
What an amazing ending! It made my heart so warm !
Totally loved it! I am so grateful that I watched these TV Series with all off you! I feel totally elated at the moment!
It was the best conclusion we have watched in a K-Drama.
Kudos to everyone involved! They did a terrific job!
Both the actors and actresses and the PD, the production and music production team! Definitely I am adding the Writer-nim Im Meari to the scriptwriters I want to watch their work!
Tomorrow, I will write some mmore… <3
Dear Lovelies,
I’m so satisfied with this last episode. Everything came together but in such an interesting way. No lack of snappy patter right to the end.
MM being a doctor to save lives.
Dalgona finally meets Park Young face-to-face.
Cha Joo Ick’s swoony lines.
MM gets jealous about Park Young and curmudgeonly with the other men.
Aunt and Kevin embarrass Sun-kyung by with a PDA at the kimchi party.
After so many instances of MM fishing for the ‘handsome’ compliment from DK, finally someone (LHK) tells MM that he’s handsome and MM is chuffed.
I know I’m shallow, but when Joo Ick told Ji-nah “Then I’ll just continue to meet your expectations,” I had an Austen frisson. I think he had the most good lines this episode. I liked their ‘You’re weird’ conversation after the kimchi evening as well.
Gosh, the episode was like a perfect dessert after a 15 course Italian wedding.
Hi DAYSers ~
@cleo and @Gb – Thanks for the Dialogue Transcripts.
@GB, i do love the life lessons in this show and this episode 15. so many.
*i bought these *long stemmed roses* with the feeling of being gifted =DK
i started doing that. i buy what i call “my ordinary days” bouquet and not wait for the hubby to get em for me on special occasions. #guenyang 🙂 yes. 🌹
i love that DK ended up writing THEIR lovestory. not the prince. not NJN.
@GB yes the lunch celebration was the reproduction of the dream MM gave to DK – now a reality – even in his absence. may our real lives be a deliberate, intentional celebration of life’s simple joys. amen.
i believe that the FIRST TEXT of MM to DK was timely even though he didn’t get to send them. DK read them at such an appropriate time. MM believed that she’s happy. awwww DK’s really trying hard to live happily in honor of MM’s sacrifice (the life MM gave her).
@GB, i agree that the garden scene was a perfect closure between MM and GD. love their convo there. there was so much faith and hope – that MM will chose to become a flower, to bloom and be human (SaRam). I love GD’s exhortation for MM to “go there and love without stopping. live happily like that. smile. i am an existence that only wishes for you to smile. don’t forget that. Happy birthday. goodbye SaRam.” awwww so good 💛
@janey regarding show too sophisticated. i agree with you that here at BOD, coz you lovelies like to dig deep and discuss – i am richer for it also 💚
@GB, didn’t know SIG wrote “A distant fate” – wow. will have to watch that segment later.
@Lei wow, i love what you wrote to summarize this show: from nothing to something, from darkness to color, from isolation to connection, from emptiness to love, from doom to human, what a beautiful transformation 💕
@cleo thanks for the quote from EE Cummings
@ janey yes,i like that. let’s not be afraid to #begin again#
@TY oh noooo, no wedding to look forward to?? 💔 i have yet to watch the finale. waaaaah i also thought that they got married already after he proposed. but DK was talking to her doctor and he mentioned the wedding. so that means, it hasn’t happened yet, coz MM disappeared. boo hoo.
Still hopeful 😍 always. haha
I haven’t watched ep16 finale yet. Will watch tonight and It will be my reward for my Tuesday workday. Ecstatic to hear of a satisfying ending. Yippee!
Dear Darlings and Lovelies,
I’m so glad that we all satisfied with the ending. I think this is one of the best fantasy dramas of all time.
@Cleo thank you so much for transcribing the scenes and the conversations. I had a slightly different subtitles from yours, glad that I could read another interpretation of their conversation. Also for the lovely quotes as well.
@GB thank you for the life lessons you’ve summarized. This drama have a lot of beautiful lessons and I’m glad that the director and the writer chose to brought them not in a devastating way, but in a healthier way.
@Lei thank you for the notes regarding the transformation. We see a lot of pretty transformation here. Everybody is growing up. When in real life butterfly don’t have a long life span, I find it very deep in here where we see that butterfly could transform into the flower.
The flower that MM become is a cosmos flower. I read that cosmos flower represent order and harmony. It also symbolizes peace, innocence and love. It is a perfect flowers to give to a lover because it often represent the idea of walking hand in hand together and can also symbolize all of the joys that life, and particularly love, can bring. How a beautiful recap for MM transformation into a cosmos flower.
@HK_lady, TY, Janey and Lei
I previously thought that a wedding scene would be lovely to see. But I even like it more that the Director bring us the picture of life after the wedding. For example the kimchi making session, we could imagine that from time to time all of them would gather together for a big event, sharing laughters and love with each other. Also the scene where MM strangely connected instantly with LHK. They even compliment each other. It’s nice to see that MM will find comfort from his new friend. Or the scene where MM and Young Prince argued. Since Young Prince has a crush for DK (I had a little thought of this previously, but I am surprised anyway when he admitted it), MM give this glare towards him, but funnily Young Prince is not intimidated at all😅 (now we know why…)
And the conversation between CJI – DK, I always laugh when CJI said “kids these days..” at the end of their convo. I felt like that he’s way way much older than DK..
And the pen name of DK is Harubang. The large statue in Jeju Island.. I think DK chose this pen name because of her origin from Jeju..
@GB, so many people dislike this drama because they think it’s try to be too sophisticated? Hmm.. I thought that many people simply just can’t understand this drama and the conversations. Really they missed this gem..
Again,
Thank you so much all for watching and discussing this drama together..
See you in another great drama discussion 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
I’m waiting for your comments regarding the final episode.
Hello lovelies!
I’m super happy with the ending! My face literally hurts from grinning ear to ear with the heartwarming scenes.
GD mentioned that the flower’s name is Cosmos.
Cosmos grows easily throughout the summer and it can even survive in poor soil conditions. Spanish mission priests in Mexico cultivated cosmos in mission gardens and gave it this name because of it’s ‘evenly placed petals’.
Cosmos is also a symbol of order, peace and serenity.
MM perfectly represents cosmos in his new human form. He brings order, peace, and serenity. What was once dark and chaotic, has now been restored rightfully into harmony. Everything is now balanced.
@Cleopatra i agree that GD has transformed herself and is now perfect and complete. Her new form as a student suits her well.
@GB thank you for the beautiful lessons, reading them all makes me appreciate this show even more. I shall remember them with all my heart.
My heart flutters every time DK and MM hug each other although it would have been nice to see them share a passionate kiss after being torn apart for 3 months. 😬 but oh well, at least Cha Joo Ik and Ji Na made up for it.
I agree with all of you that plotholes aside, this is such a beautifully written show with a beautiful message. I can already feel the void that DAYS has left me now that it has ended. Thank you for sharing all your beautiful thoughts, @GB, @Cleopatra @Janey @Fern @Moonstar512 @TY @HK_Lady @Packmule
all of your insights was the best part of this show. Sharing them is the element that completes this work of art. 🥰
Kalimera my agapimenes, lovelies and darlings,
Here is the last edit Felicity Queen did for “Doom at your Service.”
Enjoy it! It is so beautiful!
https://youtu.be/nuLdrzCeI6Y
@Cleo @Janey
Thanks for sharing the EE Cummings quote! So much food for thought. May we all have the courage to be who we really are 🙂
@Lei I was smiling so much throughout the last episode too! For all the sadness in the previous episodes, it feels like we got a huge dose of happiness to end the show.
Looking at back at the drama, I think my favorite scene is early in the drama where the psycho killer lunges at MM infront of the hospital, and DK instinctively runs over to protect MM, and MM in turn protects her and holds her close. That scene really hit a chord with me, and got me fully invested in the drama. I think the rest of drama was mostly them taking turns trying to protect each other.
I feel like I have to rewatch some bits to fill up the void after the ending 🙂
Thankyou all for your wonderful insights throughout the show!
Annyeong!
My second treat of the day!
The full OST of #DAYS on You Tube!
Hello Darling DAYSers~
@Cleo, thanks for sharing the last edit by Felicity Queen. so beautiful indeed. all the handholding scenes, sleeping together scenes, kissing scenes. oh my. i love it. i also love their convos and walks and hugging scenes. xoxo
@Lei, my heart flutters too when DK and SaRam hugged. I feel disappointed too that they didn’t kiss on the lips. it’s funny when DK gave him a kiss on the cheek and SaRam pointed on his lips and said “yogi” LOL that’s so cute. he wanted a kiss too. he’s also disappointed he didn’t get any. haha. our 2nd love team definitely made up for the lack of kissing for our main love team. Oooh la la.
@Moonstar -i hear you. getting glimpses of their life after the wedding is satisfactory enough. it is heart warming indeed. love the kimchi making event. wow. the show “boys over flowers” had a kimchi making event also but on a much smaller scale haha
so many funny moments on this finale –
*that his first meal as human is cereal haha.
**how SaRam feel asleep on the phone while DK was still talking hahaha.
***how SaRam gets annoyed with Cha and Young Prince to the point of wanting to kill or harm them, but he can no longer do that. it’s the thought that counts. haha.
##YP’s crush on DK was a surprise reveal. did not see that even tho i won’t mind crushing on YP too. haha. i think SaRam is adorable when he’s jealous.
****how DK is not completely happy naming him SaRAm coz she thinks he needs a better name suited for a lead character haha.
it’s interesting that SaRAm retained his house, car, and job when he became human. wow! and everyone remembered him as He is. and The fake patients at the hospital no longer see ghosts when Doom disappeared. haha
i love that DK ended up uploaded her novel on the web and Cha liked it. So her pen name Harubang means grandfather or harabuji. they re large rock statues mainly in Jeju island where she grew up. cool. i think it’s great that DK asked SaRam’s POV on how he felt when they hugged at the hospital and when he made his love confession. awwww. but then he fell asleep on her. Poor guy. so hard being a doctor. right? and being human.
when GD appeared in DK’s dream, she showed her that SaRam is a cosmos flower which is a flower of LOVE. it depicts NEVER ENDING LOVE. how apropos for SaRam. i love it when he said that “there’s nobody else who went all the way to the end as me” regarding marriage coz Cha and Young Prince were giving him a hard time. NJN even admired how they both worked hard to protect each other – coz they put their lives and destiny on the line… awwww kudos to our love team.
i love how the ending made me feel like i want to see DOOM Season 2. hihi. i noticed SaRam really wants DK to sleepover and get married already haha. he has a one track mind. i also wish it for them of course. get married already! 🙂 when DK told SaRam “live eternally with me” – i also think this was a lovely proposal <3
~grateful for this show and all commentators on this thread <3
much love to you Lovelies.
Kalimera my agapimenes, lovelies and darlings.
Today I feel light. I feel that I can fly, although things are awkward in this weird time, we all live in. Everything will pass and we will get our Happy Ending as well. I feel Hope and Love. That’s how I feel today.
TDG in Episode 14: While living, you will come to realize. That you had to experience everything for this exact moment. That’s how it leads to happy ending. You have to live to know. […] So just live. That child wants you to live. He wants to live very happily.
Doom At Your Service was the second Tv-Series I was waiting to see in 2021. I feel that everything does happen for a reason. The most of us here bonded because of DAYS. It doesn’t matter if we are kilometers / miles away.
We have become a big International Family that every Monday and Tuesday shared their common pathos for one story. We are mirroring this #DAYS big Family that was there doing that kimchi.
Isn’t that great? As DK said to her aunt in Episode 15: It’s just, a good day.
And just like that the word “Geunyang” became one of my most favorites.
I will transcribe the last scenes today from the finale, those who give us Insight or Words of Wisdom.
I have to finish this service I have started, back in May! Enjoy!
The words in the parenthesis are as always, My Notes!
#1 – Dong Kyung and Sa Ram’s Date
DK: How can you be a real doctor?
SR: I didn’t live so long for nothing.
DK: Does it suit you? Is it doable?
SR: It doesn’t suit me since it’s not what I’ve been doing.
DK: Aren’t you too good to be saying that?
SR: I wanted to do it. Saving people.
DK: What are you going to do with your name? You’re really sticking with Kim Sa Ram?
SR: I like it because you named me.
DK: Why do you like the name I just whipped up?
SR: You just whipped it up?
DK: I just whipped it up. Now that I think about it, I guess it was meant to be like this. I really do realize as I live. If I knew, then I should have come up with a name more for a lead character. Mmm…Kim Sa Ram…
We see them strolling around in the park. (What a beautiful landscape.)
SR: When are we getting married?
DK: What marriage?
SR: Did you have a change of heart? You don’t like me because I’m normal now?
DK: Why? Do you not like me because I’m normal?
(I will miss those bickering dialogues!)
SR: You were never normal. From the first time we met till now, you were always special to me.
DK: Wow, I know it’s your trick, but my heart did flutter a little.
SR: What do you mean trick? It’s my sincere heart.
DK: How are you adapting? Is it okay?
SR: Yeah. One thing that’s inconvenient is that I can’t read people’s minds anymore. But It’s also kind of convenient. There are things you try more because you don’t know.
DK: You really became a human.
SR: Since destiny doesn’t change. I didn’t really put my hands on things that I could see the end of. But since I can’t see the end anymore, I keep on trying. Sometimes, I thought it was the end but it turned out to be the beginning. Maybe that’s how you guys live forever.
DK: Humans are all terminal. They only live eternally when they don’t know that. What you said before?
SR: When I lived eternally, it always felt terminal. But now that I’m terminal, I feel like I’m living eternally.
DK: Live eternally with me.
SR: Is that a proposal?
DK: It’s not.
(What a beautiful message about Humanity!)
Looks at the beautiful landscape in front of them. Enjoying the sunset.
DK: Staying like this reminds me of back then. The time we saw the sunset together in the world with just the two of us.
Sa Ram turns alarmed and looks at her.
DK: I couldn’t forget your face then for a long time.
SR: How about now?
DK: You look comfortable. You don’t look lonely.
Sa Ram nods and smiles.
SR: Hm. I’m not lonely. Now I have a direction I’m going toward.
DK turns and looks at him.
SR: It’s you.
DK: You can’t even send a text message, but you’re so good at talking.
SR: Why can’t I send a text?
DK: When you disappeared last time, I found your phone at your house. You wrote the text messages but never sent them.
SR: You sent a lot.
DK: Did you see them all? But why did you not mention it?
SR: I’m saying it now.
DK: No- But it’s so weird. That phone…How did it now turn off for three months and was still there?
SR: I’m sure it was her doing.
DK: I wonder what she’s up to.
SR: I’m sure she’s doing well no matter where she is. While still loving humans. I wondered why she loved humans before. I didn’t get why they said love stems from hate. I’m sure she hated them in the beginning. And then she probably forgave. Then from some point, she was grateful that they created her. I understand it all now. Since that was the case for me, too.
DK: It’s cold. Let’s go. Or we’re going to catch a cold.
Hey. How does it feel to live?
SR: It’s good.
(The whole sequence is amazing. Regarding the last scene, although there are standing the one across the other, the distance between them doesn’t exist in reality because of the horizontal railings, they are in the same place.)
#2 DK’s Returns in the Garden. The Dream with The Deity Girl.
DK is looking around her. She see the Deity girl holding the pot.
TDG: It’s been a while.
DK: Wh-where are we?
TDG: Don’t worry, we’re inside your dream. I came in quietly without anyone knowing. It seems like you would miss me. You were curious about what blooms here.
It’s a cosmos. Doesn’t it suit him perfectly?
DK: It’s pretty.
TDG: How about me? How do I look? Me wearing a uniform. I wanted to show it off but had no one to show off to.
DK: You look pretty.
DK smiles at the Deity Girl.
TDG: Thank you.
DK: Me too. Everything you’ve done for me. Even if I still don’t know why it was me.
TDG: I knew everything. That you would endure through all this.
DK: You know…
TDG: Yeah?
DK: Even if you knew everything, why did you let me just do that? I was always curious about that.
The deity girl while holding the Cosmos flower, approaches DK.
TDG: God sometimes know everything but just does that. Even if God knows that the flower will bloom, the sun will rise, you will smile, I always want to see it again.
DK smiles and the Deity Girl continues…
TDG: That’s it. I wanted to see that smile. It’s done. That’s enough now. Go, Dong Kyeong-ah. Your story isn’t over yet.
Lastly, I will write the question that was asked for us to ponder.
[In your life, what is your one wish?]
To all My Dear Darlings Lovelies Agapimenes
It’s such a joy reading all of you. You’ve added to my viewing pleasure so tremendously, I can’t imagine ever watching this show ‘alone’ and liking it half as much. @Janey, how nice that you get to enjoy the Show fresh today!!
@Fern, yes isn’t it wonderful that Show even remembers to let Dalgona meet her crush, Young Prince. I love little thoughtful details like that. And the ‘handsome’ issue LOL. I don’t know what it was about MM needing to get validation for his handsomeness. It was a running joke even after disappearing twice!! Yes to that dessert – I want seconds and thirds!
@HK_Lady I too love to buy flowers… I say it’s for the home, but I’m the one enjoying them all the time.
The garden scenes were often significant. That’s where DK began to find MM relatable when he revealed his world, where GD explained the role of the flowers to the flowers LOL, and it’s within view of the house as they continue their lives together as human persons. The opening credits of them hand-in-hand in the garden came true… it was a bit like the garden of Eden with Sa Ram starting from scratch like Adam did.
@TY I will definitely be re-watching this show until the next great drama can pull my attention (but not my heart) away. Yes that Ep 4 mutual saving of/protection for each other, was already a sign that they meant more to each other than they were willing to admit. By the end of Ep 5, at least MM was already on board with a romance, when he asked her to love him – he was already considering that he could die for her.
@Cleo, Thank you!! Felicity Queen never fails to delight. Yes this last video is the best of the lot. I want to keep watching it for all the moments and dialogue she pulled out and stitched together.
@Moonstar512 @Lei @HK_Lady Thank you too for your thoughts and the information on the Cosmos Flower. What a nice touch that the Cosmos flower is associated with peace, innocence (yup MM was like a babe in some ways) and love, and how he brings order and balance. That it means neverending love adds icing to the cake!
Great Advertisement for Healthy Living
I am amused by how Show has even included a Public Health Message – “Take care of your health and live to a ripe old age… don’t drink or smoke like our Smoking Hot Kim Sa Ram,” LOL.
More Meta – Loved how DK’s novel is also called ‘Doom at Your Service’ and how she wanted to avoid letting Cha sign her up.
The meeting of beautiful smile guy Lee with handsome guy Sa Ram and the cute guy Sun Kyung. Too much good looks in one place!!!
BTW, can anyone remember why MM/Sa Ram apologised to Ms Jo ‘for that day’. What is he referring to?
Until the end he’s still pushing his handsomeness. Good grief LOL.
Loved the garden of flowers in full bloom and colour outside his house.
I wonder why DK is not interested in getting married. I’d want to marry him immediately and re-decorate his home!!! Heheheheh!
And why won’t they tell each other the wishes they made on the falling stars. But it’s what we can imagine that they’ll be arguing about still in the continuing virtual world of DAYS.
My lovely @GB,
I will answer to your question. “Blind Date.” That’s why he said “I’m sorry”.
At the blind date, Myul Mang was substituting Ms’s Jo boyfriend. It was a mirage.
Don’t you remember that he was jealous of the potential bf and took DK away?
We also had that almost bewitched kiss… *winks*
@Everyone,
I will answer to all of you. I just / geunyang need some time!
Thanks @Cleo! Yes I remember that double date/blind date. LOL. Sa Ram is so innocent (like the Cosmos Flower) that he does not know he should pretend to not remember some things that will upset others. He’s going to have to learn the hard way if DK is not around to catch him making that mistake!
Thanks for the transcription of the dialogues. Always nice to see it written down and to compare.
In my kdrama watching life, my one wish is to continue to meet such great company as us over here. Good company elevates even the most challenging show! I’d also like to watch more challenging shows: they give the brains a great workout!
In Life, my wish is for all of us to meet happily in the Afterlife, with our loved ones beside us.
I’ve got a meeting tonight so if anything else strikes me, I’ll post it later. Read ya again!
@Growing Beautifully. Regarding the marriage, I think it will happen. Kim Sa-Ram is determined. Was anyone wondering about GD’s fresh pot of soil? I wondered if we were meant to think it could be Sa-Ram’s firstborn. 😉
Hello Everyone! Let me answer to all you! Ι do hope I won’t forget anyone!
@HK_LAdy @moonstart512 @Fern
You are welcome! I am glad that you enjoyed reading those transcriptions! I enjoyed writing them down, mostly because I got to understand more about what was being said.
I am also glad that you liked that FMV by Felicity Queen. Ella is brilliant @HK_Lady @GB.
@Lei, now that the deity girl is complete we will be waiting for more miracles!
I really enjoyed what she said about that smile she wanted to see from MM / Kim Sa Ram and DK.
Imagine what the Writer-nim told us:
God wants from us to just / geunyang smile. What a wonderful and optimistic message is that?
About that kiss. Well, they might have after that wish *winks*
@TY you are welcome. I love this quote very much. I am trying to meet its essence for ten years. I am growing and then growing some more. In #DAYS reference, I don’t know what type of flower I might be, but I know that I am pretty one.
Episodes 4+5 changed it all, in my opinion. We got to see the dynamics of their relationship and also the magic word: geunyang!
Thanks for the Cosmos meaning to @Moonstar512 @Lei @HK_Lady.
Ladies, I am also the one who likes to buy flowers for herself.
I still remember one time, when everyone was complementing me for my beautiful rose is!
@GB, I enjoyed the Video you posted with SIG. I read somewhere that he is being critized about his portrayal. I think we, over here, live in another dimension.
I won’t be able to live “Doom At Your Service” that easily either. I will return to it, as I am doing with TKEM. I think if we watch it another time we will get to see clearer the messages, advice and brilliant humourous scenes!
@Fern,
I had the same idea myself! I think that DK needs some time to enjoy dating Kim Sa Ram, do together what couple do, before they get married.
P.S. Message for Seo In Guk
Dear SIG, if you ever come across our B.O.D. analysis, just know that we loved you portraying Doom / Myul Mang / Kim Sa Ram. I will definitely watch more of your works and I will search for your songs too! Continue doing what you Love! Until the next time…Καλή συνέχεια σε ότι και αν κάνεις!
@cleo thank you for the Dialogue Transcripts ❣ i am also liking the word “geunyang” ~ esp. when it comes to buying ourselves flowers and SMILING (❁´◡`❁). i also enjoyed the beautiful landscape, the walk path, and the sunset with a view on their first date – esp. the deep convos, the hand-holding and arms on shoulders and waists ♥ even the bickering haha. now that you mentioned it, i also can understand why DK wants to prolong their dating period. in a way, i don’t mind that there was no wedding at the finale. usually, it is expected for the girls to desire a wedding more than males. so it was touching to see SaRam push the marriage button to DK. 💓 i think we can blame the writer-nim everytime SaRam mentions his handsomeness, don’t you? i think writer-nim has a SIG infatuation ~ which we can all relate to, i guess 😀
@GB hmmm wouldn’t we want to know their wishes. did you see that “rainbow” meteor after they both made their wishes. i kind’a know what SaRam’s wish is. haha. MARRIAGE yes. but i don’t mind imagining them arguing still in the continuing virtual world of DAYS. 🌸 i agree with your wish for all of us to meet happily in the Afterlife.
@Fern i also wondered about GD’s fresh pot of soil. maybe another MM?
@Cleo i love your PS message to SIG ~ i feel the same way. actually, watching DOOM made me research his works and was elated to find that i did like him when i watched LOVE RAIN and never seen his works after that. so i’m catching up with his shows (the ones i can watch) and songs. i 💗 SIG
Kalimera my agapimenes, lovelies and darlings!
I am leaving here two videos from TVN with BTS for Episode 15-16.
Enjoy! I will be back to answer to some of you!

Little Resolutions
Episode 16 resolved many things, even the little things that other shows forget. For instance we hear that Sun Kyung’s dream (his 48th or 49th) is likely coming true, as he gets to manage a café. DK mops up all the good writers for Cha, including Dr Jung, and we get to hear that she did go for his wedding and he’s going to be a dad. The ex-colleagues get to meet DK’s boyfriend as promised. And this part is hard to notice, but MM in the family meal, gets to put food in DK’s bowl more than once. I noticed MM’s satisfied expression as he placed food in front of her. A counterpoint to how everyone but MM put food in her bowl on Jejudo.
Being Human
The underlying theme is an affirmation of our humanity and how good it is to be human beings and alive. I’ve felt more than once, that this show was chosen for this difficult period of a global pandemic, when hope was low and fear was great. Despite the challenges, frustrations and loss, it’s still possible to count our blessings. It’s still great to be human and alive.
MM accepts that he’ll feel hunger and need sleep, that he will get sick and recover. That he’s become average, like many others and is no longer unique. He can no longer hear the thoughts of others, but he is also no longer forced to be alone in his uniqueness. He experiences the joy of being able to save others, of being appreciated, of being accepted as family, … of having friends.
To be fully human, and good ‘kids’, we can look to Kim Sa Ram as our role model. He decides to give up alcohol and smoking because they are bad for health, and to live as long as he can with the persons he loves.
The Stone Throwers
This idea was brought up by someone else, but I’m just putting it into my own words.
The fun ironies of the going round full circle, or the mirroring happens in the mistake of first throwing the stone. The pain that our protagonists faced was really caused by themselves.
If Lee HK had not wanted so desperately to look cool before NJN, he wouldn’t have ended up looking so pathetic or losing her.
DK had tried to push doom upon MM, to save herself. In anger she’d even wished he’d die so that he’d know how she felt. But when exactly those things happened, she was devastated.
MM had wanted doom to be wished upon the world and had chosen DK to be the wish maker, but it had backfired, so that he ended up taking doom upon himself and saving the world.
MM had described it nicely when he said that he’d thrown a stone to hit himself.
Testing
Today’s Scripture passage on Abraham being tested by God, got me thinking that even in this show, MM and DK were tested by GD.
GD had observed and tested first MM then DK in her first 2 resets. She had discovered that both were truly attached to each other, and that while MM was committed to keep going to DK before midnight, DK valued him as more than just someone who took away her pain. DK showed that she loved him as well when it was evident that she saw the good in MM, although he thought he only brought her doom.
As in other aspects of humanity’s relationship with God, what we go through is not so much because God engineered it, but rather, because he/she simply let us find our own way. We needed to have taken those steps, made those decisions, suffered and grown of our own free will. Only then would we be not puppets, but persons who own our present and our futures.
MM and DK had to come through grueling tests, risking their lives and giving their all for each other. Therefore in the end, their happiness is fully earned, and GD gets to see the smiles that she’d been waiting for.
Saving
What I really like about the repeated idea of saving DK, is that the trajectory of whom MM saves, manifests his growth. As to why he is a doctor and doing well in work, MM gives the reason : “It’s because I’ve always wanted to do something that saves lives.”
That explains his great dissatisfaction and rebellion when he was MM: it was because he was inadvertently and constantly forced to do the opposite. It also explains why he was a vigilante in punishing perpetrators of crime. He wanted to save the lives of their future victims.
Doom at Your Service: He started off in service to humanity to bring rightful endings, but then became selfish, offering to serve DK only so that he could serve himself by dooming the world through her. His service makes a total about turn, to serve at least DK and through her, the world, by sacrificing himself. As a human being, his motives have shifted from saving one person to saving any others that he can. He has fully grown in that he no longer to lives to serve only one person, but is reluctantly willing to encompass clingy Sun Kyung and the whole bunch of DK’s friends as family (even Cha! LOL).
This is Kim Sa Ram at Your Service. Being human is the reward for his past services as well as the means by which he might offer more services. We know of course that this speaks to us, as the human viewers. How do we serve. Whom do we serve.
The Endearing Man Child
MM asks for a hug before he heads home. DK tells him to call her when he gets home and he obediently does exactly that. He is so new to being human that he does precisely as he’s told. I find this so endearing.
DK’s next instructions : “Then, call me after you wash up and are ready to sleep.”
He scoots off to get himself ready for bed so that he can call her again. When he calls, he promptly announces that he washed up. LOL. (Reporting to mum and hoping for a pat on the head.)
DK : “Are you ready for bed?”
He checks his bed and lies down : “I’m lying down now.” (The good obedient child.)
When she says she needs his help at the moment, he gets up ready to fly to her
MM : “Should I head over?”
DK : “No. You don’t have to come. You can help me over the phone.”
(I just can’t!! He’s really the sweetest. He has given up unhealthy habits to live a long life with his love. He is truthful and obedient,l out to serve and save others. Such a nice kid. What a good example for us!)
Touching Rather Than Amazing
MM : “Isn’t my being with you amazing?”
DK : “Of course it is.”
MM : “You don’t seem that amazed.”
DK : “You’re always touching rather than amazing.”
MM : “Wah, who knew you could be this sweet?”
In another conversation:
MM : “How do I look now?”
DK : “You look comfortable. You don’t look lonely.”
MM : “Right. I’m not lonely. Now I know which direction to walk towards. And that’s in your direction.”
DK finds fault with him because she’s touched : “You talk so well for someone who couldn’t even send a text.”
MM set great store by his having the ability to manipulate time or stop the rain, and of course by his being handsome, but DK was more blown away by being touched by his loneliness, his colourless world, and his unflinching resolve to save her, and now by his utter honesty over how he loves her.
An example of his honesty:
MM : “Has your love faded? Do you not like me anymore because I’m average?”
DK counters : “Why? Do you not like me because I’m average?”
He smiles : “You were never average. From the first time we met up until this very moment, you were always special to me.”
DK : “I know that was a line, but my heart skipped a beat.” (I’d love to hear this line said to me!)
MM : “It wasn’t a line. I really meant it.” (Awwww…)
At the family dinner, all the couples claim that they had a hard time overcoming things to be together.
MM upped the competition by saying “We even bet our lives and fate for each other.”
DK supported him by saying : “It’s a pity I can’t show you guys anything to prove it.”
NJN however believed them : ” You don’t need to show us anything. We’ve seen enough. You guys went through a lot to protect each other. It was really touching.”
I guess we can say that this was a touching and amazing show.
Living Terminally Forever
Here are the other subtitles on this conversation:
DK : “Are you getting used to it?”
MM : “Yes. The only uncomfortable thing is that I can’t read minds. But at the same time, it’s also kind of nice. Because I’m unsure, I find myself making an effort.”
DK : “You’re really human now.”
MM : “Fate doesn’t change. When I knew how things were going to end, I never reached out to them. But now that I can’t see that, I end up trying my best. Sometimes, I feel like it’s going to end, but that becomes a new beginning. I guess that’s how you guys are able to live eternally.”
DK : ” ‘All humans are terminally ill. They live forever only when they are not aware of that.’ Isn’t this what you said a long time ago?”
MM : “When I was immortal, I felt like I was terminally ill. (He was gloomy all the time, wishing for his existence to end.) But now that I’ve become mortal, it somehow feels like I can live forever.”
(This reflection seems to me to be a comment on why even with a compassionate deity, bad things are allowed to happen. We are to try our best, never knowing the outcome. It is this uncertainty that drives us, because great good can emerge from great pain. We live knowing that we will die though we don’t know when, but behaving as if we might live forever.)
Reinterpreting First Love
Cha says NJN is his first love but she does not believe him.
Cha : “You don’t have to be the first woman I loved to be my first love.” (We assume he had other loves before, otherwise he would have insisted that she really was his first love, and wouldn’t have given this elaborate re-definition!)
Definition 1 – “When you start loving someone, it’s new and feels like first love.” (He is saying that the impression of newness of the love, or the fact that it is new, makes it a first love. I’d rather say it’s a new love and not a first love.)
Definition 2 – “Love comes in different shapes every time when you’re in love. Well, in that sense, you are my first love.” (Taking this literally, I’d say he thinks each love is a different person, so now it’s in the shape of NJN. That’s a new shape to him so it’s first love to him. Again I say, that this is merely a new love and not a first love.)
Cha’s play with words is scary. He basically said that because it felt new, it could be regarded as the first. He can twist anything to make it sound like it means what he wants it to mean, but he is not necessarily right!
Thanks @Cleo for the videos. I’ll watch them when I’m more awake. I know that they are awesome.
@Growing Beautifully, I was thinking that Cha was dodging the bullet with his elaborate words. If I were to take him at his words as they were translated, I would say that he is a serial monogamist and I would say, thanks but no thanks. It made him sound shallow. It didn’t seem to reflect what we know: that he fell in love with her 10 years ago and has carried a torch since then. That his love for her is deeper and more mature than any previously is what I wanted to hear.
Still, I love to hear him speak. Phone book, train schedules, fairy tales, whatever.
Things conspired to keep me from watching the final two episodes of DAYS until yesterday. I waited until I finished watching to read all these comments. Such good summaries and analyses! Thank you all for enriching this journey we took together.
I do think that when MM dies and–as DK notices–things in the world continue to disappear, it is logical for DK to wonder if MM has come back into the world in a different form. Having previously experienced a reset with memory loss, it is also logical for DK to consider the possibility that Sa Ram won’t seek her because she’s not part of the new MM’s memory. DK hopes for even a random encounter.
@Janey, since MM didn’t come back as Doom, but became the human Kim Sa Ram, I believe that GD took on the role of Doom. She did, after all, create MM, so preceded him. The implication is that before MM was created the first time, the deity of beginnings also oversaw endings. How that all fits into this show’s theological stance that humans create GD, I don’t know. Which came first, the deity that created the humans, or the humans that created their deity? It’s the old chicken & egg conundrum.
I’m still confused by this show’s theology. Why is MM GD’s first flower? Does she only tend the garden: in which case, is there a creator deity above her? If GD is the creator deity, and she created all the flowers in the garden, then what makes MM and his flower different from all the rest? Is it because she carefully tended MM’s flower in the pot, whereas the rest of the garden is sowed then left to go its way: good, bad, and indifferent?
@Fern, your comment about experiencing an Austen frisson sent me to the internet to search for more about frisson. I found this old article (May 30, 2010) from film critic Roger Ebert (who died in 2013) entitled “The Quest for Frisson” (https://www.rogerebert.com/roger-ebert/the-quest-for-frisson). He posits a plausible reason why folks may be less willing these days to challenge themselves with the media and books they consume: their brains have been rewired by surfing the internet. Here’s a key paragraph from his blog post:
“I wonder about something. With the invention of channel surfing, and then web surfing, have we all become rewired? Has the national attention span dropped? Is that why kids like shallow action pictures and why episodic television is losing to reality shows? And why sports, which offer a frisson every few seconds, are more popular than ever? Is that why slogans are replacing reasoning in our political arena? Is an addiction to video games the ultimate expression of this erosion of our attention span?”
So many beautiful things have been said above about this show, I’m not sure I can add anything new. However, I wanted to highlight one scene that made me laugh that hasn’t yet been mentioned: SK’s antics after he tried to hold his sister’s hand at the crosswalk. His dancing about to show the shoes she gave him, so appreciative of her gift, made me smile. And flexing his biceps as they walked away: I bet it won’t be long before actor Da Won will soon be starring in dramas as a ML.
The other actor I’ll be eager to see in ML roles is Lee Soo Hyuk. He had some of the most romantic lines in this show, because his character was so forthright with his affection for NJN once he opened up to her. And yes, @Fern, I’d be happy listening to LSH’s voice all day long. Maybe someone should write him a drama role where he’s an online radio blogger.
What would be my life’s wish, if I could only have one? DK took time to ponder her answer, even to the day she expected to die, before she voiced the wish MM would grant her. (He had denied her some previous wishes.) I recently finished Sell Your Haunted House, and it had some good advice on how to avoid becoming a vengeful spirit: “If you have something to be grateful for, say ‘thank you’. If you have something to apologize for, apologize, Express love to the person you love. You never know when someone will die. You can’t afford to waste time and be afraid. How could you contain your feeling of anguish if you died in a car accident today? You have to say what’s in your heart for you to not become a vengeful ghost. Or wait…Is that how you prevent the creation of vengeful ghosts? I don’t know.” (These lines delivered by the incomparable Kim Mi Kyung, who played Ajumma in Healer.) Although I don’t know yet if it will be THE wish that embodies my life, I certainly will aspire to say what’s in my heart as often as is appropriate. (Another note on Sell Your Haunted House: This scene and those that precede (Episode 13, starting 28:14) it take place in what looks like the bamboo forest from TK:EM.)
Kalimera my lovelies,
Here is the last BTS video from TvN regarding DAYS! They are saying goodbye to us and most of them are sad and grateful!
https://youtu.be/h_9GwJEq5vw
Enjoy!
Dear DAYS family,
As @Cleo said, we have become an international family connected by this drama. Group hug!!! I wish we can make kimchi together. That’s actually a good team builder activity.
For the finale, it was definitely satisfying and went the way we wished and hoped for – full of smiles, hugs, family, friendship, living and loving and being happy. Oh, and don’t forget the dating! 😊
Thanks @Lei and @moonstar for sharing the meaning of cosmos flower/plant. I‘m glad that it’s not a rose or some showy blossom but a simple and average plant. Just like when MM became as Saram, an average normal person. What makes humans special is the relationships we build and nurture.
@TY – thanks for sharing your favorite scene. There’s a YT of the 2 couples where they talked about their favorite scene also. My favorite (when I saw this, I felt things clicked together) was the last part of ep7 when MM hugged DK at the hospital and a flashback of all the people who cared and supported her during her times of despair or failure.
@HK_lady – so many common day to day stuff we do (and may take for granted) but are new to Saram, how novel is that? And I like that they are dating and adjusting. DK asking Saram how is he adapting, is he ok is very considerate and caring.
@Fern – I wonder about the pot also. What is GD cooking up? Baby Saram sounds like a good idea. I shallowly concur that I would pay to hear Cha actor read anything. But I did not like his definition of first love either. They should just edit that out.
@GB – When DK was looking at the sky and the trees thinking if it was all a dream (ep14), I was thinking of the pandemic in the same way. Hopefully when the world is healed of COVID, we will wonder the same thing and that we are stronger for surviving it.
@Welmaris – thanks for joining us! I hope you’re feeling cooler now. The show did not really address iif there’s a new Doom or that GD filled that role. The theology-building in this drama is actually its biggest weakness and spurred much confusion. I’ll read more on the article you shared about the quest for frisson.
Other random thoughts:
Cha sent Lee a plant – “think of it as me and raise it”. Return the favor but to a plant. Hah! I think that plant is Lee and he has to take care of himself to grow and mature.
DG did a good job making people remember Saram, meticulously taking care of photos and keeping his phone powered for the unsent text message. Aww, she is a mother playing cupid after all.
Jealous Saram is so cute! He outed Young prince of his crush on DK. He finally made a friend (Lee) because he has the farthest connection to DK.
Cha’s code for kiss is “let’s have a drink” so that NJN can “make a mistake” (kiss him again). I like that NJN does not seemed surprise – she is a romance writer after all. Cha is definitely meeting (and exceeding) expectations. Swoon!
I was curious of the dying tree and how it would have looked like when it bloomed. I wished they showed that.
Thank you for the video, @Cleopatra!
Thanks for the YT link @Cleo!
Agapimenes, Lovelies, All,
Awww… I’m also sad to see this show end. I feel like PBY in the final interviews. She said she was sad a few times.
Thank you all for being such lovely companions on this viewing journey. The joy in watching was augmented 3-fold for having you with me on this sometimes bumpy ride.
@Welmaris, I hope your eyes feel fine after managing the last 2 episodes. Good point about it being natural for DK to wonder if MM might have returned in a different form. Even more poignantly, she looks at every stranger hoping to see a flash of recognition in their eyes.
@Lei Yes, I feel that show could have easily given us 3 more kisses to go with those hugs. It was so stingy!!! I hope you can drop by another show thread and chat with us again.
Now that we’ve seen the last episode, and GD has another pot of soil and she does not know what it will bloom to become, it looks like she’s growing her second plant – another being, destined to be human in time.
@Fern I had to look up serial monogamy to know how it’s bad. Yes, I feel Cha is more a faithful boyfriend type and not addicted to the feeling of being in love.
LOL, about MM fishing for the compliment. In the end it’s a guy who tells him he is handsome. Otherwise it was always only himself who said it out loud, but he must have heard it thought many times.
I found Ji Na’s telling Joo Ik not to say the words that made her heart pound/flutter kind of weird. I’d like to hear much more of those lines, thank you! I think they embarrassed her, but they are so nice to receive!
@TY, I’m trying to include HP2 and Gumiho Roommate into my now clearer viewing schedule, but it’s hard to be as invested after all the attention I’ve given to DAYS.
@HK_Lady About their wishes… I felt it was an in between ending… 1) it seemed to have a proper end ie a happily ever after without a wedding, but 2) it was also an open ending because we never get to know their wishes or what the rainbow meteor meant. Show has deliberately left us to fill in the ending we wish to have. As in the shows where the characters’ lives engage me, I can easily imagine how they might continue their lives. We’ve been given many instances of them behaving like a married couple, so their married life has been ‘covered’ LOL. It was a smart ending that satisfied and yet did not close the door.
@Janey Group hug with you!!! Yes to kimchi making! I’d love to do it with a family like us. I’ll also bag a big amount of kimchi LOL. Yes, to that dying tree… that was a missing scene in their dating. they could have gone to see the tree, and since it’s 3 months later, there could have been a few buds at least.
@moonstar512, I hope you do manage to promote this show. However I believe you may need to give a little suggestion that it is not an easy show to understand from the dialogue, so one has to be ready to think more deeply as one watches. In the transcriptions, I added notes for myself, as possible explanations for what was said.
@Cleo I like your message to SIG. At Healer’s end, a bunch of us actually joined in with other bloggers to send a message to the Healer team. Healer was not that popular in Korea, so we wanted to give them our support.
I’m looking forward to watching another show with you, and remember, there’s Healer rewatch tomorrow!!
Now on to look for another show that captures my heart the way DAYS did! See you all againa!
Hey agapimenes, darlings and lovelies,
I have to catch up on some training hours before 30 Jun so I am late to join you. I wish I can log K drama analysing and discussion as training hours.
So many in depth and wise comments here already! My thoughts: Woohoo!!! Happy ending! It’s nice to watch a happy ending sometimes. MM comes back as Human and be an ED doctor to save lives as he would like to. DK survives and wrote their story. Cha continues with his swoony lines. Little brother is promoted as a store manager. NJN got to top 10. MM may become HK’s friend. We got to watch their domestic lives in ep 16. So I am happy.
I cried when DK dreamt about MM in ep 15. That longing! Glad I don’t need to later on.
@GB I also love that conversation between Cha and DK. Time is overrated. Don’t wait around too long! Just do it. Regarding that comment re Jijo King. That’s a very interesting point. I am thinking all writers have the best intention to resonate the viewers. With the right mix, some capture more when some capture less, all down to personal preferences. I guess those who do it for a living will be succumbed to the pressure of ranking…and the wider public is hard to guess and please. (but should writers just write what the wider public likes at the expense of creativity?) Like @Janey said, this show needs to dig dip and discuss. I am lucky to find you guys here. 😊 I enjoy reading you all @TY @HK_Lady @Janey @Cleo, @GB, @Moonstar @Lei @Fern @Welmaris
@Cleo and @GB, thank you very much for transcribing the lines all along!
@Moonstar @HK_Lady, I was wondering what is Harubang. Thanks for explaining it.
@Fern – I was wondering what this new flower will be. I was thinking about the new Doom? Someone still has to do Doom’s job. But yes it would be nice if it is SaRam and DK’s firstborn.
@Janey I too don’t like Cha’s definition of first love. I felt that’s borderline hiding the truth. Other than that, most of Cha lines are nice to hear.
My agapimenes, lovelies and darlings!
I haven’t able to answer to all of you.
I will do so. There are things I have to say!
I am enjoying reading your comments, but it is kinda hectic the past days.
Until later… <3
Hi @Viva! Great to read your thoughts. Yes, I like how so many things wrapped up nicely. Both SK and NJN got their dreams fulfilled ie what they wished for. It’s a good show to go with the line ‘Be careful what you wish for,’ since DK’s ‘innocently’ thoughtless wish, landed her in so much angst. Still, it was necessary for almost everyone’s growth. And in the end, we get to see so many wishes coming true.
Yes, it’s not easy to please a diverse audience. To dig deep and analyse a show is not everyone’s cup of tea. I guess now I have to stick to some light shows to recover from the depths of Doom. LOL.
@Viva – thanks for sharing! The recap of everyone’s “ending” and accomplishments was a fitting finale. And they can continue to make more wishes just like DK and Saram as long as they live.
@GB – that’s also what I recall posting on my first comment on DAYS way back. “Be careful what you wish for because you may get it”. Hence, my rule is to always make good wishes.
This is giving me flashbacks of Start Up’s “follow your dream”. It’s also my top most satisfying ending which I compare other kdramas finale against. It’s really an appropriate meta used in DAYS.
I just rewatched ep. 16 to fully appreciate all the good feelings, and I came away with a different take on Cha’s definition of first love. I think he was telling the truth, based in how quickly he answered, that NJN is his first love. But once he said that, and she doubted him, I think he realized she might feel guilty that he is not her first love. So Cha gave his convoluted definition of first love in order to make her feel on par with him.
@Welmaris, I rewatched that part, too and realized the same conclusion as you. He said that new love = first love “definition” not for him but for NJN. He also said he’ll teach her. Aww… ok, no editing out that scene anymore for me. Hahaha!
At Welmaris, that makes more sense. Perhaps there was something missing in the translation or it was too subtle. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Kalimera my agapimenes, lovelies and darlings!
Happy 4th of July to all those who celebrate it!
Here are my answers to all of you!
@Janey you are welcome. (I am referring to the lullaby of love songs comment!)
Yes to making kimchi together! I think that it would be great! *smiles*
@GB, what a beautiful wish! Thank you for posting it! <3
Also, yes I thought that it was significant that the deity girl after her visit with DK where she gave her, her umbrella, that the first flower was indeed DK. That’s why she told us how beautiful that flower was, it was DK’s attributes.
Also your “Being Human” piece is up to the point. We should cherish that we are human beings that live in a very difficult period of the History. As other’s have done before us, and others will do after us.
I agree that DAYS message is positive and we need to do our best to have a fulfilling life, because that matters in the end and not materialistic things.
To be of Service for yourself and to the world is something we should all have in mind. We can save someone even if we are not a doctor, we can save them because we were there when they needed us or we might give them an answer to something that was burdening, without even knowing it.
I believe that here in B.O.D. we are doing service, to all those who are here and read us, whether they comment or not. Some of us help them understand another POV from the popular ones.
So let us love more what we makes us move on and try our best to be good persons or good children…
@HK_Lady Yes to more “geunyang”!
I felt that it was like the ending of TKEM, where Lee Gon with Tae Eul did together what they have missed. In DAYS is something similar.
She wants them to have all the little things that a couple does together, before they go another step. Still, DK knows that Kim Sa Ram loves her more than much. He died for her and DK kept her promise to live happily. Even if it was for 100 days.
I enjoyed that our boy will have as a friend Lee. Lee is not a bad person. I am glad he matured enough to become a real boy too. He might not win the girl, but he won his self, which is more profound.
Can you blame the Writer-nim for having a thing for SIG? He is handsome in his own way and he made us swoon, right?
@HK_Lady, @GB : Regarding the Message to SIG, I felt that he needs reassurance. I don’t understand how some people only write negative comments. You know actors / actresses / singers are human beings too. They get hurt. Don’t they know that some people died because of malicious comments especially in S.Korea?
The easiest thing in the world is to write something bad.
To write something good became an exception to the rule.
It would be lovely to send them a message too @GB! It would be great! Cosmos -> Earth / Garden -> Humanity / Flowers -> The Deity Girl -> Doom / Nabi.
The Deity Girl became a perfect goddess when Doom bloomed as a flower himself. That’s why Myul Mang became human or Kim Sa Ram.
@Fern @Welmaris
As it seems, people don’t want to think a lot these days. That’s why there is a big percentage that doesn’t read literature books. I agree that our brain is wired differently because of the Internet, but those who have learned to read and ponder, can do both.
@Viva you are welcome! 🙂 I am glad you are here with us!
>> Even though, tomorrow it will be our first Monday without #DAYS, I feel content. This is my first time, where I feel that everything that was needed to be thought, said or written, was done in a beautiful way.
What should we watch next? Have you thought?
What about: You are my spring? https://mydramalist.com/70879-you-are-my-spring
@Cleo, I hope SIG won’t take the negative comments to heart. He looks like such a sweet ‘kid’. I trust his joking and playing around is not hiding hurts, but that they really reflect that his positive state of mind.
You are My Spring sounds like a good suggestion for a next show to watch. It is a genre that I like, and I really liked Kim Dong Wook in the scary show, “The Guest”. I felt so much for him in that show, the way I felt so much for SIG’s character in DAYS.
@pkml3 Would you consider watching You are My Spring?
My agapimeni @GB,
I do hope that for SIG. I liked him from those BTS videos we have watched. He seems a good and funny guy. He worked hard and went against all odds. I wish him all the best.
Yes! Are we going to start watching You are my Spring today?
I will give it a try!
Hello Lovelies!
@Cleo, @GB I agree about SIG being a sweet kid! He may not have the typical suave looks like other Korean actors but I think his personality is adorable and humble. And he is good son, too.
I’ve stumbled upon this video clip of SIG and his mom from 8 years ago when they appeared from a tv show “Mamma Mia”. In Guk and his mom seems pretty close and they’re fun and interesting people to be with.

Thanks @Lei. That’s one video that I liked before and can enjoy again now.
₍՞◌′ᵕ‵ू◌₎♡ ◦°˚\(*❛‿❛)/˚°◦ (*^▽^)/
Kalimera my lovelies!
@Lei thank you for the video!I have to check it when I have time!
@GB *hugs*
Hugs back to you @Cleo!
Here’s a nice, recent compilation of info on SIG for his fans. It gives an objective, balanced view of our fave doom deity turned human.
Hello dear DAYS Family darlings..
I come here because I missed DAYS, and there are many comments that I haven’t read. I think the notification of follow up comments didn’t go to my email..
@Lei, thank you very much for the video. I watched in and laughed out loud. I think I know why SIG seems to have a fun and goofy vibe, his family is so fun too.
@Cleo, I didn’t know that there were negative comments about SIG. I thought he received so much love from his fans in S.Korea? I wish that those comments won’t affect his spirit to continue giving his best performance. I really don’t understand how people could criticize the actor so badly. I remember I was really hurt when I know that many people say bad things to Nam Joo Hyuk, the male lead in Start Up, and I think he read some of them too because in one radio interview he said he limits his time to media and avoid to read negative things. I really hope that SIG will do the same if he must. He’s a great actor, and I hope he will continue to grow!
P.S: thank you so much for the good bye video and the BTS for eps 15-16, I became a little bit mellow too, seeing their good byes, but I am happy because they looks had a great time after all. The production team seems fun and making the shooting moments happy for our actors and actresses.
@GB,
Regarding my promotion agenda of DAYS, I haven’t successfully convinced any of my friends to watch this. But some of my them were asking me about my review and as you said I remind them also about the depth of conversation. I hope they will watch it soon.
And I hope if there are new viewers of DAYS, and come across to this blog, I wish this thread could help them to understand the drama better.
@Janey,
Super Yes to kimchi making!! I have been curious about this activity because KDrama often put this activity in their episodes.
Ohh and about watching You Are My Spring, I have put that show on my list but haven’t watched it.. please share to us if it’s a great show to follow.
And once again.. @Cleo, @GB, @Fern, @Janey, @Welmaris, @TY, @Lei, @HK_Lady, @Viva, (I hope I didn’t left anyone) thank you for your time sharing your ideas, analysis and comments in this thread, . Thank you so much @Packmule3 for making this thread for us too 🙂
Same with @Janey, I am so satisfied with the ending of DAYS, like when I was watching Start Up. And according to Park Bo Young in her goodbyes video, she also mentioned the same spirit with Start Up “follow your dream”, she said that she hope we, the viewers, could seek what we truly seek for in our life.
See you again in another thread !!
Thanks for always joining in and reading here @moonstar512.
I will watch Ep 2 of You Are My Spring (YAMS) and put up a review in the June thread. (https://bitchesoverdramas.com/2021/05/31/bitch-talk-should-we-watch-these-in-june-2021/).
I find both Devil Judge and YAMS are not easy to watch. I’ll have to see if they can sustain my level of interest which is not high to begin with. 😉
Here’s the last in the reaction videos from the 2 Korean girls. It’s fun watching them.
Kalimera my agapimenes!
I came across this FMV. I hope you enjoy it!
This one brought all the memories back… :’-(
Kalimera, @Cleopatra. Thank you for this. What a nice thing to see and hear as I have my morning coffee!
Kalimera @Fern,
I am glad you enjoyed it! <3
It brought down memories from our Doom and Gloom Couple!
We need to make those t-shirts!
Ah, the t-shirts. We’re moving away from T-shirts where I live to roll neck sweaters very soon. I’m side-eyeing the outfits and boots/shoes I see on K-dramas to see what I might get that will stay in style for a couple of years. Not that I’m stylish or anything, but I am thrifty.
@Fern,
Today the weather changed…It is chilly!
Still it is good to have something to remember our Doom & Gloom Team! 😀
