The thread is now open the usual spoilers, discussions, and my bitching.
If I see YiKang again running outside in the blizzard without a hat, earmuffs and a pair of gloves, I’m throwing tomatoes snowballs at the costume director. Same if I see mountain rangers wearing white or off-white snow outfits in the snow.
People wear bright colors in the snow, not so much for fashion statement, as for safety, i.e., visibility. It’s easy to spot a skier or a snowboarder going downhill on the slopes, and avoid crashing into him if he’s wearing neon colors instead of a white suit that blends in with the snow. And should the hiker tumble in the snow or get trapped in an avalanche, a colored outfit will make him more spottable than if he’s camouflaged in white. Rangers wear bright parkas to stand out.
Do your research, costume director!
And please don’t get me started on the Product Placement. I wonder which one it’ll be today. Will it be:
Hamburgers of “Egg Drop” fast food chain
Bottled water from…hmmm…KC Water Montbest,
Maxim instant coffee in those yellow packets, or
Nepa downjackets?
lol. At least I’m glad there’s no PPL for Swarovski earrings or necklaces.
Seriously now, if drama productions must include PPLs, assistant writers should finesse them into the script.
Let’s enjoy the show.
Thanks @pkml3!
Oh dear, what an episode of tragedy. I felt very low by the end of it.
I wish our heroes won’t keep trying to catch killers all by themselves.
HJ has figured out that the common denominator of victims is that Black Bridge Village.
Show is still so slow. It will not bring us to the next bit of action until next week, and so we’re stuck in BB village in both 2019 and 2020 waiting for the killer.
I feel Show could have wrapped up by now, if it had been edited. I do like the rescue and the info on what happens on mountains – so beautiful and so treacherous, but Show could still have brought together lots more plot movement into each episode, even with the rescues.
Did something bad happen to the YiKang’s granny? I felt something bad was about to happen when she took the bus and waved goodbye to HyunJo. The camera focused on her smiling face a tad too long.
Then I realized that if the murderer wanted to hurt YiKang, then he should kill her granny next.
But maybe it’s JungKook’s girlfriend, the fellow ranger? Is she dead too?
Yeah, the killer killed her granny too, by deliberately send the bus into the wrong route.
And seems like yigang is his target too in the present time.
I really don’t understand his motive killing the ex villagers. Is the killer just insane? Or he just hating ex villagers for leaving..( if this is just mainly because hate, i dont think its strong reason to kill a person.. hmmm)
@Lovebangwon,
If it’s Kim Sol, he would hate the ex-villagers for quitting. They didn’t love the mountains enough to stay in the forest and protect their “homeland.” Meanwhile, his parents died for the land.
🙂
@pkml3
Officer Killer Kim had told Hyun Jo, that he was investigating the bus on the bridge accident, because the sign and barrier that the police had set up to stop vehicles from going onto the broken bridge had been knocked down or had disappeared. HJ went to the bridge and imagined how it might have happened if the killer had been involved. He came to the conclusion (based on conjecture alone) that the killer had targeted the bus because the sign on it referred to the cable car construction. He had thought that Yang Geun Tak would have been on that bus.
We see in retrospect that killer had really kicked over the warning sign and moved the barrier to the wrong side of the road. He had even stood in the rain to direct the bus onto the broken bridge.
I was so sad for the innocent ladies on the bus, going home after delivering food to the rangers and fire station crews.
So it wasn’t that Yi Kang herself was targeted (yet?) but that the killer was just indifferent about who else got killed along the way.
Grrrr… kim sol and officer kim woong joon is the main killer.
Today, finally yigang meeting hyun jo 🤐
Kinda sad, because he Is the only one who close to her, she has no one on her side now And i wish writer didnt kill his character.
I really wish for yigang and hyun jo have a happy ending, even as bestfriend. Better as lover 🤣😭
I wish this series would end faster. Episode 13 had my ears ringing from it’s overuse of intense stress-inducing, suspenseful music/sounds that were not musical. I decided to watch without sound. It was too much, for too long.
Signal was so much better because there was more hope. The communications actually were better and more frequent. They led to real changes in the current timeline and people were saved.
This Show however is too bleak. Too few messages, so much mountain climbing and so few lives saved. I ended up preferring the scenes of mountain rescue rather than of investigation and the stopping of killings.
Of the entire village, there might be only Se Wook’s and Yang Sun’s grandfather left alive and the 2 killers (I guess there are 2, I’m not sure). Even the lady who was rescued from the Black Bridge Valley shelter or cave, has pancreatic cancer and will die.
Not sure if Hyun Jo can survive a flatline. So depressing.
I still confuse with love line between hyun jo and yigang.
Does they really have love line?
Or the writer intended to make them as best friend?
In ep 14 when yigang meet hyun jo soul
HJ: what happened to you? Did it hurt? Does it still hurt?
*and she try to hold his hand, but cant touch him since he is wandering soul now.
*while da won voice over told yi gang: he looks lonely, when he heard your voice on walkie talkie and he desperately wanted to talk to you. I think he’s waited a long time for you
Yi gang: why have you been like this? Left alone like a fool, unable to leave. What have u been doing?
..
Next scenes:
HJ try to hold walkie talkie.. and when he succeeded to hold it, he told yigang:
HJ: sunbae, can you hear me? leave. Forget everything that happened here. Leave the mountain. Forget it all. Forget everything. Have a better life. Please, don’t ever come back.sunbae.. [walkie talkie disconnect]
*while tears fall on his face, at hospital..
I meant forget what? The killer and forgetting him too?
I feel pity on yigang life.. she lose her parent. Her first love failed, her grandma died. And now hyun jo?
Their feeling still unclear to me. 😂
I think my brain has been rewired to binge watch and I find I have little patience for a story like this to be meted out week by week especially with huge plot holes. What is the death count at this point? Ridiculous! Higher than the product placement – maybe there should have been equity – one death per product placement. I know this isn’t an airport departure lounge (my favorite metaphor by @pm3) but I am going to wait until next week and watch the last 4 episodes together. If the cop is the killer(s) – I did note his deflection in the beginning episodes when he said that the yellow ribbons were above his pay grade.
Kalispera everyone!
Thanks Goodness. Those two episodes that I saw back to back were better paced than the previous ones. For once everything was working. Still, it took them so long to share with us what is happening. We still haven’t fully understand the WHY he is doing the murders.
So, Corporal Kim is the Killer. Sol doesn’t seem to be one, but we cannot be sure until the end, if he is an accomplice. Since they were all childhood friends.
I agree with @GB Unnie, Hyun Jo cannot survive a flatline.
@Lovebangwon it is not clear what they are exactly. Whatever they are they cannot be together as it seems. If Hyun Jo magically wakes up, it will be a big No No for me!
@GoodTwin we had the Police Officer into the shady characters since the beginning. Still, we don’t know if Sol is an accomplice or not. If he informed Corporal Kim with what HJ discovered.
We have two more episodes to sort this mess.
@cleo if im not wrong, i saw preview in earlier ep before this. That hyun jo open his eyes in hospital.
I guess there is possibility he is gonna wake up from his coma.
Their status really unclear, like the writer don’t know what she should do with them 😂
Sometimes it feel like they have one, sometimes isn’t. I guess it will stay like this until the end. 🤐
@Lovebangwon,
To be honest with you, I don’t remember such a thing. Still, his health is detoriating, as the nurse informed us about three to four episodes ago. Yesterday, we witnessed a flatline.
How many cases can open their eyes after that? I want it to have a realistic ending and not a magically one.
In the preview, we heard the Chief say, that they need to prepare to say goodbye to Hyun Jo. In my book that means, they couldn’t revive him back or if they did then his family decided to turn off his life support.
I missed ep11 and 12 and now am contemplating if I should continue watching and catch up or just let it go… so I’m snooping here to see how it will all end. Thanks in advance!
I think I said in my wish when this show first started is for Jirisan to be shown in a mystical but good light despite the backdrop of murders. Too much to ask, I guess.

He is awake on preview 10
I guess there is possibility he will wake up..
Most kdrama always end eps with breathing machine in hospital ————— sound like beeeeeb.. like main lead died 🤣 but next ep they will awake.
@Lovebangwon,
We fill soon find out, then! 😀
I want to see how they will do it…
Hey finally caught up. Oh I hope HJ will live! YG’s life is too miserable.
Well there aren’t that many villagers left. 🤣 The simple solution would be Kim Sol, Corporal Kim and that other dead cousin planned it together. Didn’t both Kim Sol and the other guy’s parents died? Corporal Kim being the leader of the children want to protect or revenge for them, for the villagers not looking after the orphans.
As to whether there is love between YG and HJ, my view is it comes down to our world view of friendship between a man and a woman. The question always is (provided if they are straight) how much care a man and woman can give to each other without crossing the line. If HJ died, we will never found out. The writer may just leave it open for us to interpret. I personally tend to think there is no pure friendship after going through so much together.
If HJ died, YG may just devote her life to rescue, going with the theme that the mountain is her everything. However allow me to be shallow, I still want YG and HJ can support each other and rescue people in the mountain. This is drama world, after seeing so many deaths I don’t need the ending be too realistic. 😂
Thanks, Viva. It is a pain, right? When Viki delays the release of the episodes. I think that’s partly the reason that my enthusiasm for the show was dampened. There’s no more “urgency” to watch it.
I think HJ will live. This writer’s previous work, “Signal” left people frustrated because of the open ending. I don’t think she’ll repeat that here, otherwise she’ll build a reputation that she can’t finish her dramas properly, and leaves her audience hanging. I must point out though that the original title of this drama was “Cliffhanger” but it was replaced with “Jirisan.”
@pm3 yes! :)It is indeed a pain that we need to wait almost a week in Viki. All the burning desire to watch it got evaporated after a few days. Also have to do that quick skim of the headlines to avoid reading articles about the next day to avoid spoilers.
Good to hear that! Hopefully he will live! May be that beep is just a cliffhanger to ensure we tune in for the next episodes. I thought it was quite a tender moment when they reunited. He cared if she is hurt, and she cared that he got stuck here. I like to see those too be able to support each other again.
