Hi Everyone, I watched the first episode. It looks like fun. Light and somewhat silly. I thought The Mydramalist version of the synopsis was cute, especially about the Crown Prince “…Prohibition creates different challenges for these inhabitants: Inspector Nam Young from The Office of the Inspector-General who left his hometown to achieve fame in Hanyang and restore his family status; Kang Ro Seo, the aristocratic but impoverished woman who makes moonshine to reduce her debt from buying her mother’s medication and her brother’s books; Crown Prince Lee Pyo prone to scaling the palace walls in search of a tipple.” What a great difference from our Red Sleeve Cuff’s Crown Prince!!
I found this episode a much better start and intro to the characters and their various aims than Bulgasal’s first episode. Poor Hye Ri had to act in scene after scene that demanded much physical activity.
I love the irony that of all people, it’s the ever righteous inspector who rents a room to stay with the Moonshiner LOL. Boy are they all going to be in big trouble. 🙂
I’ll join BoD on this but will start watching after our vacay hiatus. I am looking for light and funny and Hyeri always delivers in that aspect. Cheers!!!
Hi @Janey, I, too, am wondering how far I’ll be able to watch. If I give priority to some 3 or 4 other shows, this one may end up on the back burner. But we’ll see. 😉
Hello my friends! I’ve been on a long hiatus from kdramas, lots going on for life, work and research, but this one caught my eye not only because of the male lead (I don’t always love his dramas but he nails his roles in every one of them) but because a rom com sageuk is just the medicine I need right now with omicron hitting hard and heavy too close to home. Will be watching tonight and hoping for a great show and discussion!

How are you all?. Now I have a motivation to hang out in this thread. I am downloading the stream for Moonshine Episode 1. I’ve developed a soft spot for Hyeri after My Roommate is a Gumiho (if you have time and it piques your interest you are in for a treat, for it is one of a few emotionally mature and helathy Dramas).

I’ve watched Episodes 1 and 2 and it looks like rollicking good fun. The OTP’s expressions of incredulous dismay at seeing each other again and again – usually when one or the other of them was at a disadvantage – were so on pointe. I enjoy watching the cheeky Crown Prince as well. The overall comedy premise of the rigid, law-abiding, goody-goody guy being forced to live with law-breakers left and right, is tried and true and this Show looks like it can make it work well once again. 🙂
I will try a little bit more, @GB. The stupidity of both Hyeri’s brother and the servant is rubbing me the wrong way. I know they are playing it for fun but hell it triggers me to watch good people being swallowed by other people’s bad choices.
@FGB Yes, that’s the set up. Now that is done, it sort of justifies why the FL goes into the moonshine business. We need the stupidity of the brother, who of course will remain ignorant, to push the plot along.
I understand about triggers. I loathe the class discrimination where kids of rich parents get away with murder and their parents never get them to make amends, but rather hide and abet their crimes. At the moment, although I am trying to watch the Show, Uncle’ for its warm-hearted theme… I have to fast forward all the rich kids and parents’ machinations, dialogue etc.
If you can manage to download, then perhaps it will help if you skip or FFD those triggering parts. 🙂
Finally ended episode 1. Tomorrow will see episode 2.

I’m enjoying this drama because it’s light. It’s not as funny but it’s fine. It’s amazing how many times Inspector Nam will save RoSeo and vice versa. 🙂 I like it that they have many scenes together.
I like the marriage angle and how RoSeo can even become the Crown Prince’s wife.
Funny, I had 2 bottles of soju on NYE and I was a gonner. LOL!

I forgot to tick the notify button so dudnt know anyone replied I am late coming back but the first two episodes didn’t really grab me so might try another episode now there are a few more out, but no high expectations. I doubt it will lend itself to the kind of discussion we had with Hotel del Luna or Extraordinary You or When the Camelia blooms. All of them light but so interesting in world-building and most of all, suspense. I think that’s what’s missing with this one. I feel like I already know what’s going to happen; there is nothing that’s made me curious about the characters or future developments…
I will take your recommendation FGB and try out My Roommate is a Gummiho! Also visit other running threads here to see if you’ve all stumbled upon a cracker I’d love to discuss with all your delicious insights and speculation!
Hi @Barbrey , long time no chat 😁. I agree that Moonshine is not as exciting and no suspense as such. But I still like it. I want to see how their going to handle this alcohol ban especially now that RoSeo is connected to the mother and son from another area.
Howdy! Im still watching this drama and episode 11 was a good one. I had a hunch Uncle of the crown Prince was the bad guy and it’s true.
I’m glad Young being thought to be dead didn’t last long. That meeting at the end was nice with him saying to RoSeo, ‘I got you’.

Hello! No need to say sorry. 😉 We all have our drama preferences. I finished episode 12 and I am enjoying it, even the second leads are nice to watch. I can’t wait how she’ll steal the crown prince’s heart. 😁
There’s something about YSH that really gets to me. It’s like I really can’t say no. 😄
Young is not going after her liquor trade anymore and he even became an accomplice in a way because he’s not reporting her. 😄 He’s a witness to her father’s death when he was young so he’s keeping that a secret for now. He’s trying to solve it together with the crown prince.
I like the show because it’s nicely connected and today it had a nice scene again where he brought in fresh branches with little flowers and he made it as an illuminated background on the white wall using a candle. I’ve never seen that before, it was pretty. ☺️
