If you know the films these titles are referring to, please tell me. Thank you!! This will save me time.
Episode 7: Catch Me If You Can
Is this the Spielberg movie? Is there a Taiwanese/Thai/Indian/Korean film out there with the same title?
a. Edited 1/21/22 to add @GB’s comment:
Episode 7 – Catch Me If You Can
Broadly, I feel it can refer to the Spielberg movie (which again, I have not watched). The movie is about how Frank runs away from the FBI, by conning people and running convincing scams ie essentially lying to create a misconception about whom he is.
Episode 8: Before Sunset
a. Edited 1/21/22 to add @pbbffffft’s comment:
Pretty sure this is referring to the second installment of the Before trilogy. Released in 2004. Story is essentially two people meeting each other for the first time in years after a brief passionate encounter and get together.
Episode 9: Just Friends
a. Edited 1/21/22 to add @pbbffffft’s comment:
Could be the Ryan Reynolds flick where the ML was a ‘loser’ in high school, flourishes after, heads back home for a high school reunion and meets his high school crush. There was also a celebrity character that is crushing on the ML.
Episode 10: Hello, My Soul Mate
a. Edited 1/21/22 to add @grace’s comment:
Episode 10 – Hello, My Soul mate
It probably refers to this chinese movie called Soul Mate. The Chinese translation of the movie is 七月与安生 which is the names of the two girls. Although directly translated it means July and Peaceful (or quiet).
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6054290/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Mate_(2016_film)There is supposed to be a Korean remake of it with KimDami as the female lead but I have been unable to find anything much on it after they announced the cast.
b. Edited 1/21/22 to add @pbbffffft’s comment:
This could be a reference to Kim Da Mi’s upcoming film – a remake of the Chinese flick with the same title. It’s about two best friends who fall in love with the same guy. Also shows how they grow apart as time goes by. Seems to be showing how Ji Ung and Ung are slowly drifting apart because of Yeonsu
Episode 11: Our Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days
a. Edited 1/21/22 to add @pbbffffft’s comment:
“Our Night Is More Beautiful Than Your Day” has the same title as classic korean pop song by Kona from 1996. The song captures beautifuly the relationship between Woong & Yeonsoo and there is connection in their dialogue. If you read the lyric, it sounds like a perfect proposal from Woong to his beloved lover, Yeonsoo-ya.
b. Edited 1/21/22 to add @grace’s comment:
Episode 11: Our Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days
This is based on a 1989 French film with a tragic end (many of these movies do not end well for the couples eh?)Current Joys wrote a song based on the movie

The “Our Nights …” title appears to be a reference to this French film which sounds oh so very
French! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Nights_Are_More_Beautiful_Than_Your_Days
Skipping the double suicide of the lovers, I think it fits the theme of OBS in that two damaged people find solace in each other.
Episode 12: Begin Again
lol. This sounds like that Taylor Swift song. I liked the music video because it was filmed in one of my favorite cities.
Edited 1/21/22 to add @Jinyangie’s comment:
I think the Begin Again movie is the one with Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine. I can barely remember what happened though!
Episode 13: Love Actually
Is this that British movie with Hugh Grant?
a. Edited 1/21/22 to add @GB’s comment:
I did however catch bits of ‘Love Actually’, and did as you did, ie. I read up about it instead of watched it. What several of us noticed was the meta-reference in the story of…
Juliet, Peter and Mark
Juliet (Keira Knightley) and Peter’s (Chiwetel Ejiofor) wedding is videotaped by the best man, Mark (Andrew Lincoln), where a surprise band plays the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” as they walk out of the church. Although the couple believe Mark dislikes Juliet, he is actually in love with her. When he evades her requests to see the video he shot at the wedding, she shows up at his flat. Juliet insists she wants them to be friends, but when she views the wedding video Mark recorded, she sees many extreme close-ups of herself and few of Peter’s face. She realises Mark’s true feelings towards her. After an uncomfortable silence, Mark blurts out that he acts cold out of “self-preservation”.On Christmas Eve, Juliet answers the doorbell to find Mark carrying a boombox playing a Christmas carol and large cue cards. While Peter is inside watching television, Mark tells a message of his love to Juliet through the cue cards. As he walks away down the street, Juliet runs after him, gives him a quick kiss and returns inside.

We will see that this threesome correlate with our YS, CU and JU in the episode. As for the other 9 stories in ‘Love Actually’, I didn’t see any clear correlation. 🙂
b. Edited 1/21/22 to add @Good Twin’s comment:
I also thought the Love Actually theme was reflected in the line that opens the movie: “…. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love, actually, is all around.” There are many types of love portrayed in OBS: including romantic, filial, parental and friendship.
Episode 14: Life is Beautiful
I’m assuming it’s the Italian movie. Or is there an Asian movie with the same title?
a. Edited 1/21/22 to @GB’s comment:
Life is Beautiful (I felt this episode dealt more with parent-child or parent figure and child relationships)
So I didn’t think it referred to the Korean Musical (2020) which was about how a dying wife asks her husband to find her childhood sweetheart as her birthday gift. ” Life Is Beautiful is a story about tracing one’s first love and finding real love in the process.” https://mydramalist.com/43845-life-is-beautiful. I’m not sure that this episode title pertains to this movie or not. I feel not.
If the title refers to the 1997 Italian film which managed to portray the Holocaust without the worst of the horror, it’s an interesting show to choose as a parallel for parent-child relationships. The harsh realities are muted and watered down by one party or another, to protect each other from fear/anguish upon knowing the terrible truth. In the end the most tragic circumstances can be spoken of easily, and even laughed at, without emotional burden. Perhaps this attitude of protecting one’s love one is what the episode wants to convey.” So I felt that the title refers more to the 1997 film.
Episode 15: Three Idiots
a. Updated 1/26/22 to add @GB’s comment
Episode 15: ‘Three Idiots’
The title is probably taken from the movie ‘Three Idiots’: the 2009 Bollywood movie. The movie review I chose is…
https://anutshellreview.blogspot.com/2009/12/3-idiots.htmlI quote from that review …”the film is about self-actualization, or the simple fact that it’s a wake up call in this rat race of a world that we live in, that we lose sight of things that matter in the pursuit of success.” This, I feel pertains to all our 3 idiots, CU, YS and JU. 😆
Episode 16: ?
Thanks again!

In return, here’s the list of OST and the lyrics. The lyrics are from kgasa.com website. I tried to vary the source, and get lyrics from other sites but kgasa.com’s translation was the most reliable, and least cryptic. Others look like they were google-generated. 🙂
1. “Drawer” by 10CM
Under the sunlight
I used to run around
with my short breath
If you go through a winding alley
and follow the road
You’ll remember the same memory
The time as an adult
It still fills me awkwardly
A lot has changed
But it’s the same here
You’ll feel the same
I was soaked in sweat.
We’re you and I are now
I can’t go back
In the worn-out drawer,
I remember each other being small
When I’m far from home
Always comes to mind, I still remember
your twinkling eyes
The shadows facing each other
When we were facing each other,
here still same
The time that always
make me cry
But I can’t let go of it
When a lot of things pass by,
This is another…
Our home
Where are we then?
In the worn-out drawer,
I remember each other being small
When I’m far from home
Always comes to mind, I still remember
your twinkling eyes
I hid it by myself
I won’t let you know
How I felt about you
If I can see you, that’s enough
I’ll capture it in my eyes, as always
In the worn-out drawer,
I remember each other being small
When I’m far from home
Always comes to mind, I still remember
your twinkling eyes
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/10cm-drawer/
2. “Maybe If” by Bibi
Maybe If I
Woke up in the morning
Hearing your voice
May If I was with you
Maybe, If we spent our diffcult days together
what would we have been?
The distance between you and me
It never seems to disappear
You and your words were frozen on me
Let’s say, by chance
If we meet again,
If I were to do something for you,
Will it changes a little,
For the reason we had to break up
I would try try try
Can I hug you?
There are diffeent pieces of memory
But it looks just like you
The feelings of longing
Only if you
If you come
The distance between you and me
It never seems to disappear
You and our memories have stopped
Let’s say, by chance
If we meet again,
If I were to do something for you,
Will it changes a little,
For the reason we had to break up
I would try try try
Can I hug you?
If I open my eyes, will you be standing?
I imagined it one day
Something you’ve never told me
I’m just happy because it’s from you oh
Tell me whenever
I’ll be wherever you are
Only if you come
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/bibi-maybe-if/
3. “Squabble” by Ha Sung Woon
You don’t like everything
What’s wrong with you?
I think you only choose the things
you really hate and do it to me
There’s nothing that’s changed
even if we meet again
Even if I curse all night long,
I don’t think there’s going to be an end
Even by chance, you and I
We shouldn’t have met each other
We only have time to argue for few hours
It’s frustrating because there’s nothing in common
Of all the things I know,
You’re the only one who can turn my heart upside down
You’re in front of me
Oh fine, I’ll do it on my own
What’s wrong with you?
You’re blowing the air
The fact that my name
comes out of your lips
Your way of speaking is not so sweet
I don’t like it
Little by little
I keep thinking of you more and more
We only have time to argue for few hours
It’s frustrating because there’s nothing in common
Why are you doing this to me?
I think your appearance are slowly coming into me
The story that the two of us made.
Maybe sounds like something ridiculous
Somehow things went by to us
I can’t believe you and I became like this
It didn’t suit me at all.
We only have time to argue for few hours
It’s frustrating because there’s nothing in common
Why are you doing this to me?
I think your appearance are slowly coming into me
Oh fine, I’ll do it on my own
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/ha-sung-woon-squabble/
4. “There for You” by Kim Na Young
On the street where the darkness fell,
whwre your memory that I hid deeply
I took it out without realizing it
When we were together at the same time
The stories that I’ve been trying to capture
It comes to me and waves my hand
Actually, even if I pretend I’m fine,
I’m afraid you’ll find out how hard I feel
Trying hard to hide my shaky eyes
I’m looking at you now
And I always can’t say anything
Why do you look so harsh?
That’s how I spent my feeling
I think of you in pain like that’s how I feel
You’re still the same as always
But your expression is very unfamiliar
There are countless stories that remain in my heart
Even when we fought to the point where we raised our hands and feet
Even when I turned around with my back on you
Even when I was scared and ran away from you
I was waiting for you and hoping you to turn around.
Actually, even if I pretend I’m fine,
I’m afraid you’ll find out how hard I feel
Trying hard to hide my shaky eyes
I’m looking at you now
And I always can’t say anything
Why do you look so harsh?
That’s how I spent my feeling
It hurts you so much
Actually, I pretended to be okay.
but there’s the things that were still left in my heart…
So I keep drawing.
I still can’t let you go like this
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/kim-na-young-there-for-you/
5. “Christmas Tree” by V of BTS
In this moment
I see you
It always comes around
As I believed
When the rain stops
You shine on me
Your light’s the only thing
that keeps the cold out
Moon in the summer night
Whispering of the stars
They’re singing like
Christmas trees for us
So I’ll tell you
A Million tiny things that
You have never known
It all gets tangled up inside
And I’ll tell you
A Million little reasons
I’m falling for your eyes
I just want to be where you are
It’s such a strange thing to do
Sometimes I don’t understand you
But it always brings me back
To where you are
By chance, do you know this?
There’s a side of you that only I know
Like the first snow of a midsummer night
An unbelievable miracle, a moment of surprise, It’s you
And someday, again
In the wind,
Even if my heart flies
I will wait for you
So I’ll tell you
A Million tiny things that
You have never known
It all gets tangled up inside
And I’ll tell you
A Million little reasons
I’m falling for your eyes
I just want to be where you are
Tell you
A Million tiny things that
You have never known
It all gets tangled up inside
Tell you
A Million little reasons
I’m falling for your eyes
I just want to be where you are
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/v-christmas-tree/
6. “Why” by Janet Suhh
Someday we’ll miss the days we had
Someday we’ll be together again
Again again and again
Why do you always appear to me
When I try to forget you
I stir my heart
again and again
Every night, when I close my eyes and open them,
It was you again.
Shouting “I’m tired of it”
Even if I try to run away and throw it away,
You don’t fall off like a tail
Goodbye
Someday we’ll miss the days we had
Someday we’ll be together again
I guess, I’ve been wating for you like the gap between the doors of my heart
Like a lie, you’re wandering around again
Say you’ve come to see me again
Again and again and again
Again and again and again
I want to hold you tight
If you reach out your hand,
Should I run away from you?
Pretending like nothing happened
Why have you come to my house
Will you please go away
Why have you come to my house
Why have you come to my house
Will you please go away
Why have you? Why have you?
Someday we’ll miss the days we had
Someday we’ll be together again
I guess, I’ve been wating for you like the gap between the doors of my heart
Like a lie, you’re wandering around again
Say you’ve come to see me again
Again and again and again
Again and again and again
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/janet-suhh-why/
7. “The Giving Tree” by Lee Seung Yoon
Like a tall hill tree
Your memory to me
It was a comfortable shade when I rested
Eventually
Now that I have become an adult
I still haven’t fully grown up inside of me
There are memories that still remains
You are always the same
Memories of you never fade in me
Like a hill tree
Your memory to me
It was a shade if you rested on me
When we meet each other
There’s a name like a bitter wound
It can’t be removed
It’s like a bug that doesn’t fall off
Whenever someone asks me,
I have only same answer. It’s my best day
There was always one side
An unforgettable memory
As if I left it somewhere
Like a hill tree
Your memory to me
It was a shade if you rested on me
When we meet each other
There’s a name like a bitter wound
It can’t be removed
I can’t hate you
When I hear your name
I feel like my day
will be run over by you again
I’m afraid
Alone on a high hill
Like a cloud tree
I want to lean on you
When we meet each other
There’s a name like a bitter wound
It can’t be removed
It’s like a bug that doesn’t fall off
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/lee-seung-yoon-the-giving-tree/
8. “Summer Rain” by Sam Kim
The place we walked together
Somewhere at the entrance of the alley
I used to share with you
the shy stories
You make me rest
And the smile that filled my heart
The gaze that kept snooping at you
I like slightly touching shoulder
and back of your hands that pass by
We walk side by side
We sing with a nasal voice, uhm, uhm
All the words you wanna say
You don’t have to hide anything from me
Rest to me
Don’t cry alone
Don’t get sick alone
Cuz I’m the only one
Only one for you
You let me rest
and draw me in your world
I want to stay there
The place we walked together
Somewhere at the entrance of the alley
You used to protect me from the rain.
On that summer day, you…
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/sam-kim-summer-rain/
9. “Even Now” by Yang Yoseob
The whispering sound of my heart
Whenever I meet you, I feel like I can hear you inside me
My expressions that were frozen
Why do I think of you when you leave?
It’s out of control
Is it love?
Why can I even move my heart
As I wish
We’ve been close to each other
Not even one of them is a bad day
On a day when we could love each other without regrets,
What did we do?
To say that I loved you
I still like you so much
The facial expressions that I want to hide
Why do I come out like this when I stand in front of you?
Why do you have regrets even when you turn around?
Am I hovering and wandering around you?
Sometimes I miss it and suffer from it
Sometimes I hate you.
Even when I think about why it’s you
It’s just an unknown.
We’ve been close to each other
Not even one of them is a bad day
Maybe we didn’t break up
We just had to be apart
If it was just a time
We feel the same way
But we couldn’t approach anyone
Let’s think about each other every day
We couldn’t express it
To say that I loved you
I still like you so much
Lyrics from https://kgasa.com/yang-yoseop-even-now/
10. “I Will Make You Happy” by Jang Beom June
A man who changes clothes every day.
A woman who always says she doesn’t have anything to wear today
A man who keeps forgetting small things
Her memory gets better when she’s angry
If I’m with you like this, I think I’ll be fine
If you don’t mind, I’d love to be with her
If I’m with you like this, it might be harder
If it’s okay, I’ll make sure you are happy
When I was drinking, I always talked to you
These songs mean the melody with you
When I play the guitar, I always talk about you
These lyrics mean the melody with you
If I’m with you like this, I think I’ll be fine
If you don’t mind, I’d love to be with her
If I’m with you like this, it might be harder
If it’s okay, I’ll make sure you are happy
The person who buy clothes but does not buy expensive clothes
I always feel good when I eat
The person who talks to me first when fighting
I can’t even touch the giblets tuna sashimi
Someone who watches too much drama
and hates Sci-fi movies
She keeps angry when she’s hungry
If I’m with you like this, I think I’ll be fine
If you don’t mind, I’d love to be with her
If I’m with you like this, it might be harder
If it’s okay, I’ll make sure you are happy

Hi @pkml3,
Smart move! Why not get more bitches to share their film knowledge and do some research! LOL. Yeah, since I’ve not watched movies much, I’ve left the film titles to others to comment on. I’m glad you’ve taken on the task in minute detail (because I’m lazy!).
I did however catch bits of ‘Love Actually’, and did as you did, ie. I read up about it instead of watched it. What several of us noticed was the meta-reference in the story of…

We will see that this threesome correlate with our YS, CU and JU in the episode. As for the other 9 stories in ‘Love Actually’, I didn’t see any clear correlation. 🙂
@pkml3
Sorry for being all over the place with this. I’m not going down in order of the episodes. What I wrote in the Open Thread Part 2 on:
“EPISODE 14 – Life is Beautiful (I felt this episode dealt more with parent-child or parent figure and child relationships)
Episode 10 – Hello, My Soul mate
It probably refers to this chinese movie called Soul Mate. The Chinese translation of the movie is 七月与安生 which is the names of the two girls. Although directly translated it means July and Peaceful (or quiet).
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6054290/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Mate_(2016_film)
There is supposed to be a Korean remake of it with KimDami as the female lead but I have been unable to find anything much on it after they announced the cast.
Ep 8 – Before Sunset
Pretty sure this is referring to the second installment of the Before trilogy. Released in 2004. Story is essentially two people meeting each other for the first time in years after a brief passionate encounter and get together.
Ep 9 – Just Friends
Could be the Ryan Reynolds flick where the ML was a ‘loser’ in high school, flourishes after, heads back home for a high school reunion and meets his high school crush. There was also a celebrity character that is crushing on the ML.
Ep 10 – Hello, My Soulmate
This could be a reference to Kim Da Mi’s upcoming film – a remake of the Chinese flick with the same title. It’s about two best friends who fall in love with the same guy. Also shows how they grow apart as time goes by. Seems to be showing how Ji Ung and Ung are slowly drifting apart because of Yeonsu
Ep 11 – Our Nights are More Beautiful than Our Days
saw someone post this somewhere:
“Our Night Is More Beautiful Than Your Day” has the same title as classic korean pop song by Kona from 1996. I think the Begin Again movie is the one with Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine. I can barely remember what happened though!
Thanks for the beautiful breakdown posts of OBS @packmule3. The “Our Nights …” title appears to be a reference to this French film which sounds oh so very French! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Nights_Are_More_Beautiful_Than_Your_Days
Skipping the double suicide of the lovers, I think it fits the theme of OBS in that two damaged people find solace in each other.
I also thought the Love Actually theme was reflected in the line that opens the movie: “…. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love, actually, is all around.” There are many types of love portrayed in OBS: including romantic, filial, parental and friendship.
Episode 7 – Catch Me If You Can
Broadly, I feel it can refer to the Spielberg movie (which again, I have not watched). The movie is about how Frank runs away from the FBI, by conning people and running convincing scams ie essentially lying to create a misconception about whom he is.
*SPOILERS*
Episode 7 examines misconceptions of characters, and how several characters are either truthful or are lying to themselves or others. Overtly we see YS and CU literally running away, as a reflection of this. As usual CU is interesting, because he does not lie overtly, when things get uncomfortable, he just runs LOL.
JU hides things in the way he shoots the documentary or edits the footage – giving a skewed view of the cast in the documentary. Not exactly lying and yet not upfront and honest either.
Separately JU seems to have an image of himself as a homme fatale – is that deluding himself or a ‘scam’ to impress YS?
YS lies to herself, trying to convince herself that she’s not a coward who runs away. She essentially lied to CU when pretending to be too drunk to speak to CU outside her home. When she does meet CU, she lies again that nothing much happened in her life and that she was too drunk and embarrassed. CU is not deceived and tells her off.
NJ seems to be truthful. She does not pretend to be nicer than she is. She is used to being misconceived because of her idol image. Like Frank in the movie, she can see where others are scamming. She takes a break from being attacked by running away to meet CU.
At the end we find that CU and YS are forced or conned into going on a trip. The Epilogue illustrates a misconception of YS that CU is an idiot, when he isn’t. In the case of CU, he does not lie or scam, but is misunderstood. However others put on an image to hide their realities.
Thanks, @GB.
It’s long trip so I can do my reading (but not dictating).
Thanks, @GB.
I’ll edit my post and add all your input.
Thanks, @Grace.
I’ll add this to my post.
Welcome to the blog, @pbbffffft. I’ll add your recs to my post.
Thanks, @jinyangie.
lol. I didn’t know Keira Knightley had movie with Mark Ruffalo. Where was I back then?
Double suicide, @Good Twin? I’ve got to see how this pans out in the episode. lol.
Thanks!
Thanks, @GB. So it IS Spielberg’s movie? Too funny.
I agree with @GB – the love triangle will probably be revealed with the “Love Actually” episode.
“Before Sunset” is part of the “Before” trilogy and this is the 2nd movie. The OTP reunites in Paris 9 years after they missed their meetup in the first movie. Spoiler alert, in the end it was alluded that they stayed together. In the 3rd movie, they were a married couple with kids! Love this series, revolves around a lot of conversations. I hope there’s no other time jump, this may be the episode that they will reunite them romantically.
“Begin Again” – is one of my favorite movies shot in NYC which I’ve rewatched many times. A has-been record producer Mark Ruffalo) discovers a singer/songwriter (Keira Knightley who got ditched by her cheating singer/boyfriend ) and they collaborated on an album. I love the songs and how a record comes together with the vibrant NYC as backdrop. Mark and Keira are not lovers here. Mark reunited with his wife and reconnected with his daughter thru the making of the album. Keira realized her full talent without the shadow of her ex bf. Not sure how it connects with OBS storyline yet…
Coincidentally, I just started watching Cupid’s Kitchen this evening and was looking up the actress to see what else she was in. She happened to be in a 2020 Chinese Drama also called Begin Again – involving a contract marriage. Here’s the IMDB link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12256822/
@pkml3 To add what @jinyangie wrote about EPISODE 12 Begin Again…
It seems a bit of a stretch to say that Episode has basis in the film, however there is one clearer instance of similarity in terms of the artistic aspect.
Film has the girl, Gretta, who is a songwriter. We have CU, the artist. After the breakup, both of them begin again with their respective arts. They become successful away from the shadow of their past romances.
Gretta has an ex to whom she does not return. Her new professional partner is Dan who ultimately returns to his wife. They help each other professionally and even personally but never have a romantic connection.
*SPOILERS*
Maybe if we consider instead the 2nd leads JU and NJ and how they remain amicably in a non-romantic relationship, there might be a further parallel with the film. They find themselves in the same boat, fed up with feeling jealous, guilty, sucky, and want an end to their unrequited love.
Instead of Gretta and Dave, her ex (who was unfaithful in love and who sold out the true meaning of her song for popular sentiment), we may consider JU and CU (who betrays his best friend because he prefers YS over JU, LOL). As a result of the love triangle, JU’s work on the documentary is compromised. While Dave does not make good the changes he made to Gretta’s song, JU may make a more honest documentary of the footage that he shot.
Kalimera.
I have made a list with the titles in Thread #1 and @Kate, at the time, that was online added some info to the ones I didn’t know.
Some of the posters above have already written about the movies, so I won’t dublicate. 🙂
The writers of OBS must have a liking for Keira Knightley movies because they’ve referenced 3! Begin again, love actually and pride and prejudice.
To assist with begin again, as far as I recall, the movie was about Mark Ruffalo being a single dad who was separated from his wife and was a down and out music/talent producer. He then chanced upon Keira Knightley who got dumped by her boyfriend, Adam Levine, who cheated on her when he became a famous musician.
Keira and Adam wrote a song together which Adam then commercialised. Keira then decided to pursue her own music career by recording an album with mark.
In the end, mark ends up getting back together with his wife, as him making music again with keira reminded him of all the good memories he had with his wife. Keira refuses to take Adam back, Adam regrets this and the last scene is of him singing the original rendition of their song “lost stars”. Keira then releases her own independent album.
Having re-read the lyrics of the song lost stars, I think it is the song of the movie as opposed to the plot of the movie itself that may tie into the reference to “begin again”.

In the movie Begin Again, Adam Levin’s character,Dave, was an unknown musician who was featured in a documentary. This led to a record contract and a concert tour and ultimately his betrayal of and break up with Keira’s character,Greta. The movie begins with them as a couple coming to New York to start a new life in the aftermath of the documentary.
Janey,I also love the score of the film.Fun fact for those old enough to know who I’m talking about, the songs were co-written by Danielle Brisbois, who as a child actor played Stephanie in All in the Family.
Hi @pm3, I attempted to look up a movie on ImDb. only one Life is Beautiful, the Italian Holocaust movie. Will, go through your list to find more. That’s my game plan.
@pm3, Sorry, it looks like I’m too late.
Not sure if it’s accurate, but there’s a page on mydramalist called Episode Title, OST, Literature, and More Hints that goes through all the references this drama makes.
Thanks @valentine. I went to Mydramalist and found it. Here it is. It basically says the same thing as our suggestions above.

Thanks, @Valentine. I think we got everything covered. Will work with what the others have posted here; there’s more than enough for me to go through. I’ll start my own analyses of Ep 7 shortly.
😂 Thanks, @GB. That’s what I thought. Our ladies here already did a fine job. I can work with the info they gave me.
I posted this on the Part 2 Thread and am repeating it here.
Episode 15: ‘Three Idiots’
The title is probably taken from the movie ‘Three Idiots’: the 2009 Bollywood movie. The movie review I chose is…
https://anutshellreview.blogspot.com/2009/12/3-idiots.html
I quote from that review …”the film is about self-actualization, or the simple fact that it’s a wake up call in this rat race of a world that we live in, that we lose sight of things that matter in the pursuit of success.” This, I feel pertains to all our 3 idiots, CU, YS and JU. 😆
@pm3 and @GB, I have been thinking about why I love K Dramas and have likened it to math(-which scared the sh…out of me in my youth) and least common denominators come to mind. What hits me is that so many, be they comedies, melodramas, histories,,whatever genres -there is always an emotional gut punch. My major watches these days have been My Beloved Summer and Rain or Shine. The former initially presented as light hearted(NOT) and the latter as very serious. The common denominator in both deal with loss and abandonment.i’ll only discuss Our Beloved Summer here.. Our Three Idiots experienced both but had different coping mechanisms that essentially didn’t work. In Life is Beautiful, the father tried to shield his small son from the horrors of the war and the Holocaust, to tragic results. However, a major theme is the Dad’s devotion and commitment to protecting his son. In Our Beloved Summer our three lost parents and were reared in various levels of care. Ung was totally and consciously abandoned but was adopted by the most loving parents who overcompensaed for him. YS had a grandmother who provided her with tough love and basic custodial care who was not particularly affectionate but provided a level of security for her. And ji-ung didn’t have a dad, but had a mother who was a serial abandoner(who didn’t even know that peaches could kill him) but who, herself was feeling excruciating pain. The affect of these experiences go to show how these three would have trouble forming adult relationships and how these impact on their current lives. I watched Episode 15 that I will not spoil for you but I will say that it is emotionally wrenching and is true to life. I’ll be watching tomorrow to see how it all plays out.
I personally am familiar with the affects of abandonment. One of them is the likelihood of blaming oneself for it. Another is a defense mechanism that would keep the person safe by ending relationships first to prevent oneself from getting hurt because surely one would be abandoned again. Another would be just shutting down and not allowing one to feel. Essentially people become very lonely. Our Three Idiots can be seen falling on a continuum, with Ung being what seems to be the most well off. All are having crises. They all have other people in their lives who act as supporters and in a sense their Greek choruses. However, it is up to them to progress. I guess we’ll learn their choices in the end. No matter what they do, I sincerely hope they find happiness, but I fear that we’ll see bittersweet results.
@OAL, I heartily agree. The reason kdramas hold me in thrall more than other dramas, is the 99% certainty that although emotional investment will be required, there’ll also be an equally great or greater emotional payoff. That’s why a show with so little story, no special effects or action scenes, like OBS grabs and holds my heart, while the expensive, beautifully filmed Bulgasal leaves me cold and indifferent.
We both know how hard in the gut JBL hits us.
Thanks for sharing how abandonment affects us from personal experience. You’ve once again shown how accurate and relatable OBS is in portraying the reactions and behaviours of those wounded by abandonment. Even in a simple school/work experience of being somewhat ostracised, what you say holds true. One prefers to shut down and avoid, rather than go up to repeatedly face more of the same treatment. YS’s nonchalant behaviour struck a chord. If one was going to be hurt anyway, one might as well determine the conditions/situations beforehand, by being aloof, so the disgust of others would be perfectly expected and understandable. This Show has been nothing, if not emotionally true to life.
Last episode tonight and a movie version on 27 Jan 2022. I’m anticipating pain and a realistic joy.
@GB, From your lips to God’s ears.
Thanks, @GB and @OAL. I’ll update my post tomorrow when I’m on my laptop.
When you wrote “Three Idiots,” I immediately thought of Larry, Curly, and Moe, the trio from that 1940’s slapstick, “Three Stooges.”
I finished watching Ep 8, and decided to watch “Before Sunset” since it was only a little over an hour in duration. 🙂 Interesting film. The couple had a spontaneous combustion in the most unconventional place: his airport shuttle/taxi service. I’ll have to think about this. Hopefully, tomorrow will end with a happily-ever-after for the OTP.
For the last episode, I wish the title is “When Harry Met Sally.”
Or maybe, “About Time.” 😂
Hmm…someone put this list together. Does it match what you have already? I haven’t watched this drama so I have no clue.
